Fun idea and I really like the weight increasing with each person you have. Good one!
Cool idea and art. Took a while to get what was going on, was fun once I figured it out :)
What an interesting game, especially the graphics are exquisite, such dark retro fantasy I love so much
Wow, this game is really impressive! The scary/silly art is awesome, especially the main character. I enjoyed the puzzle aspect but I struggled to beat the timer (maybe I'm just not cut out to serve the Rat King :) ). I do like that you don't immediately die when the timer runs out and can actually make it through with some skill.
Super great game! The art is fantastic and the animations are hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing every time I picked someone up and they scream for like half a second XD Not to mention some of the level design is worthy of a chef's kiss! It's definitely an awesome game with awesome aesthetics to back it up :)
Really cool premise, gameplay is fun, and I'm in love with sound/character design. REALLY AWESOME! :D
Best game I've played so far. Fun, funny, plays well
The game is super smooth and funny and cool and awesome. You love to see it
I love rat king!
hands down one of the funniest games i've played during a jam
The creepiest game yet, the movement is very fluid and the theme is very well integrated. I love this one.
Pretty cool game! I actually laughed so hard when I captured a person and heard their cut-off scream xD Visuals and audio/humor are top notch, took me a minute to understand some of the gameplay mechanics but overall pretty fun. Very difficult and unforgiving though. I would have liked it if the throwing mechanic was charged or something.
This game is fun and disgusting and I love it. The timer can be a bit strict but not too terrible
Wow this game is oozing with style! Those animations are so good and there's so much that works well mechanically. Well done!
Fantastic art and music, one of the best overall experiences I've played so far this jam! Sometimes, the bag doesn't exactly follow the projected path when thrown, but that wasn't a big deal in the long run.
Excellent job, all of you guys!
love the old-school feel of this one, fantastic music and visuals and it plays very well, even if if the sack doesn't always line up with the displayed trajectory. the central mechanic of carrying and throwing the sack around while being cautious of your weight is creative and fun; would be awesome to see this expanded on. the NPC scream is truly amazing.
Supremely amusing and beautiful! I love the way he just grabs people and runs off with them. It gets a little trial-and-error-y with the time limit later on, but that is no deterrent from seeing this creature's plans through to the end. Very fun!
really fantastic game with the same humour, polish and charm as the mountain's other entries. really really good work.!!!!!
Pretty cool game. Funny premise, fun puzzle gameplay.
Every little element of this game just works together harmoniously. All of the goofy sound effects when you run, jump, and throw - and the abruptly cut-off screams of your victims - set a real nervous and frenzied tone that matches the look of the player character, and the level-ending bitcrushed WOO! is like a cherry on top of the game's oozing personality. Interplay between different gameplay elements is what I think separates a good game from a great game, and the weight system particularly does a lot to increase the nuance of the puzzle design and really put the game over the top. Issues were few and minor in nature; the game is so short that they're easy to overcome, but tweaking (1) how you're boosted by hydrants and (2) the odd collisions on corners when you're weighed down would have improved how the gameplay feels, I think. Though, struggling to ride a gushing hydrant when you're low on time really makes you feel real panic, which loops back around to enhancing the gameplay experience a bit. All in all, very nice work!
@redoplus Thanks for the great feedback! We'll definitely return to this game once the jam is over, so this is all super useful. Hopefully we'll be able to round out any issues the jam version of the game has!
This was really fun despite being a platformer (I'm so bad at them ;-;). If further work goes into it I'd say putting some effort into ensuring the bags pickup range is smaller would be greatly appreciated - I kept picking it up on the weak ledges and getting dropped despite it being further along the solid shelf. ;-;
Super interesting concept with great music and just the right scale of difficulty, a fantastic little package.
For any changes/critique, I'd only be able to say that I wouldn't allow the rat rain to continue happening while you're in the rat den, as it often kills you right after entering the door before the sack can hit the ground, and prevents quick shaves which would otherwise feel cool from happening.
First thing that caught my eye is graphics and smooth animations. Level design is top-notch. I couldn't find any bugs or something like that it's very polished game. Overall it's a fun game that I really enjoyed.
Neat concept, I like how the rat king legend was incorporated and the sprite of the rat king is especially cool. For a moment there I thought that with the game having 8 levels and rat king also being composed of 8 rats, each level would be actually serving a different rat, though the 8th level kinda breaks out from that trend.
The gameplay mechanics generally worked well enough, and there were interesting puzzles built with them (though often I had to make multiple attempts at a given level because I had to figure out some remotely optimal route). My complaint would be mostly about sometimes unresponsive jump. Also, the fact that I collect the bag from any place and position was a hindrance sometimes, e.g. when a bag landed near the platform edge, I automatically grabbed the bag, and then I landed on fragile tiles and fell down. I guess it could help if the player had to stand on ground to collect the bag (might be tricky if the bag is lifted by fountain, though) and/or they'd need to hold down a special button if they wanted to collect the bag from non-standing position.
At any rate, a well-made game overall, and with some pretty cool concept and mechanics too. ^^
The animations (especially the bag animation) are so nice and smooth. High quality game!
