LD42 — Running out of space

Nether Flood by Ever 2018-08-16T04:17:47Z

Nice little game. I would have preferred some variety in the later levels, or at least some counter for how many levels you were able to clear. I played for maybe 10 minutes and managed to survive for quite a while.

Follow The Light by DraperDanMan 2018-08-16T04:00:27Z

I love these types of movement optimization games. The double jump and floor-is-lava added a lot. It's minimalistic but has a nice vibe that suits it very well. My best time was 139.8.

Kazoete by Lost Dutchman Software 2018-08-16T22:34:35Z

Nice little study app. I appreciate the option to do hiragana or kanji. Anything to help me solidify reading hiragana is worth the time. It could have used some more gamey aspects though, it's pretty easy as is. Also adding in the alternative readings よん and なな for 4 and 7 would have added some variety.

Warehouse Simulator 2018 by PSiv 2018-08-16T02:32:20Z

Controls felt kinda floaty, and the difficulty curve was very steep, but it was pretty fun once I got the hang of it. I wish I had more time to reorganize and plan, but by the time I completed one objective I was onto the next. A difficulty option that adjusts the timer might be a good way to address this. The game matches the theme very well and the music helps set the hectic atmosphere. Very impressive for a game jam! I managed to get a score of 247.

Zombie Royale by Devilzinn 2018-08-16T02:49:51Z

The game was pretty repetitive, but also oddly satisfying at some points. I appreciate the back and forth where the waves keep getting bigger but the player keeps getting stronger. It fits the theme nicely and has good visuals and sound effects. Nice work! I survived for 3:12 on normal difficulty.

LD44 — Your life is currency

EndlessRum by GabrielNied 2019-05-03T02:11:27Z

I immediately fell in love with this game, really clever use of the theme. The conveyance of what to do is well done and the map makes it clear where you have and haven't been, which is handy since you can only hit each island once. My only disappointment was that I was left wanting more! I was hoping for some variation on the islands - some scripted events, oregon trail style, or other little minigames. Would really love to see this idea expanded on more, but definitely a great jam entry.

Axed by Flamboozle 2019-04-30T17:50:05Z

Difficult, but rewarding. Really nice entry! I made it to level 10 on my first try and 17 on my second. Would have been cool to upgrade your gun's rate of fire too.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Balloon Rush 2 by CocaPasteque 2022-04-08T17:44:30Z

Really love the visuals. The hand drawn style works great here. The game feels surprisingly fair with the gust of wind not being overpowered but also not too weak. Like many of the other comments, I found myself replaying this one quite a few times.

Before Impact: Meteor Fantasy by Garywiss 2022-04-10T01:56:08Z

Loved the unique attack mechanic and upgrade variety. The art and music were very good too! I got distinct Vampire Survivors vibes from this game. Really well made entry that I'd love to see expanded! Constructive feedback: it was not clear to me at first that I could enter the water and turn into a boat.

Swords & Feelings by salyon 2022-04-17T16:00:04Z

This was such a fun game! I loved the art style, the GUI had good UX, and there is a fair amount of strategy. It felt like an auto-battler version of Slay the Spire; what an interesting take! I played this through multiple times (which is rare!) to figure out how to win. My constructive feedback is that the upgrades are not balanced, (there are definitely superior choices)- I would have liked more variety in strategy, but that is totally understandable for a game jam entry! Well done!

Earworm Jam by ursagames 2022-04-06T13:54:18Z

What a wonderfully weird game. Very difficult, but I loved the absurd character and the animations were really well done. Great job on this game!

Constructive feedback: adding gameplay depth via a hidden mechanic when gamejam play sessions are so short is a pretty big risk.

Jimbert the Senator Commits Tax Fraud by notApollogising 2022-04-10T01:33:12Z

I don't care what anyone else says, this game here is a masterpiece. Trust me, I'm a good guy. =P

TOOB by Gatlink 2022-04-07T02:15:15Z

Really fun game. It gave me some nostalgia for old scifi racers. The art style was extremely well executed and consistent, I dug it for sure. Your menu is amazing- background, layout, font choice, etc. just super well put together. Constructive feedback: dying in one hit felt really punishing, I wanted to keep going without restarting. Maybe a health bar would have been more forgiving =P. Otherwise, great entry!

22h38 by Katutt 2022-04-07T02:57:37Z

This is the most thematically strong entry I have played so far- working backwards from the inevitable end of the world. What a game. Totally felt the Outer Wild vibes I think you were shooting for. Really well done!

Under Siege by lcrabbit 2022-04-10T02:39:08Z

Really well polished "mini" strategy game! I especially appreciated that there was an in-game tutorial! I struggled to figure out how many units I needed to send to attack the enemy armies. If the UX provided that, I couldn't identify where!

Terminal Hydrophilia by 6smith 2022-04-07T02:05:04Z

Your game has a very nice (and consistent!) visual style and a unique take on the theme! I was surprised by the amount of enemy variety and I enjoyed using the dash. Constructive feedback: I was hoping to find more weapons and/or some powerups.

Will There Bee Another? by Gabriel Dias Oliveira de Almeida 2022-04-07T13:41:36Z

Great art style, I love the color palette that you chose! Had fun trying to woo Mel! =P

Farm Dog by Trypants 2022-04-09T16:59:01Z

Loved the character upgrade system in your game! Made me want to keep retrying to get ridiculously strong. The voxel art style was very good, and the audio/sfx fix really well! Great game, and congrats!

Model-5C by William Corrin 2022-04-05T14:36:49Z

Fun game! The web version worked just fine for me. The audio was really well done!

Heal me, please! by Andrey_Zhukov 2022-04-09T16:23:38Z

I loved the art style you have going on! I had a lot of trouble figuring out your game. A tutorial, even a written one, would be an amazing addition to an otherwise super creative game!

Snooze by DrSomma 2022-04-10T02:18:49Z

Really well polished classic platformer! Pretty difficult at times- or I'm just bad! Constructive feedback: a more interesting background would have been nice. Good entry!

Last Bastion by sansman01 2022-04-08T18:24:25Z

This is really impressive for a weekend game. I wish there was a bit more prep time before waves, at least in the earlier waves, since it's chaotic right out of the gate. The graphics and overall atmosphere are really nice. I was able to hold out on the final gate for a while but eventually the enemies got too strong to do anything about.

This game would be really fun with a second player.

Nelson's Nightmare: Remastered by clemonades 2022-04-05T14:03:26Z

Really fun game, I had a good time playing it! I loved all the time polish and UX things. I noted the spawn animations, healthbar delta animation, store open/close animation.

The game ramps up difficulty really quickly and I could only ever make it round 4. My only feedback is that the coins were jumping all over the place and were hard to pickup at times.

Papper by GeneralSturgeon 2022-04-10T01:49:09Z

Really liked your jam game! I unlocked every upgrade and the furthest I could make it was 70m. Very satisfying to play and I really liked your music+art. Great entry! Constructive feedback: the launch angle controls felt a little wonky, I wasn't quite sure how to move my mouse to get the launch I wanted.

Cat in the Bag by JoshH 2022-04-06T13:44:40Z

Being a side character to an inevitably doomed hero is such a great take on the theme! Really well written game and great art and music to boot. Even though I'm not a cat person I enjoyed this entry anyway! =P

Campfire by Shadowcast 2022-04-09T22:43:28Z

Nice take on the theme, and a very unique visual style. I was expecting some kind of bad ending given the theme, good thing it didn't come to that.

1 Man 6 Bullets by Raphaeltan 2022-04-09T16:28:44Z

Very innovative gameplay, really nicely done! The production value added by all the post processing effects really sold me on this one! My only critique is that I found the game to be very difficult at times.

No Touch The Cat by Sheol 2022-04-07T13:46:33Z

Hilarious game! The art style is super cute. The cats eyes tracking the cursor too is a nice touch.

Herbert vs Homework by Str8griz 2022-04-05T14:15:31Z

Very fun game- and funny too! I liked that the different attacks had independent cooldowns so that I could weave them together. I also felt that the roll felt very nice. The pixel art (especially the player animations), and music were also quite good.

My only constructive feedback: too many Mama Mia's, not enough screen shake. =P

Department Of Demise by Crychair 2022-04-05T14:38:53Z

Really unique and fun game. The intro had really great atmosphere and the voicework was so good. It took me a bit to understand how the game worked, but once I got the hang out of it was very enjoyable. I absolutely felt like I was a grim reaper doing menial office work!

Constructive feedback: I felt that the + and - buttons should have been switched around. It felt weird to make the number go up by hitting the button on the right (or D).

The Assessment by Okamit 2022-04-09T16:39:15Z

Absolutely fantastic Warioware style game! Pretty much everything here was executed well, but I want to call out just how good the audio design on this game felt. The background music during the cutscenes, the mini-game fanfare, all of it just sounded sooo good. Great game and congrats!

Bathroom in the Backrooms by mrbrainfed 2022-04-09T22:57:25Z

Who designed this place?

It's a cute game, nice work!

Global Eggstermination by owca 2022-04-07T13:51:16Z

Very fun but pretty hard game! Great art style and humor, I got a kick out of the enemy eggs. I especially appreciated the inclusion of the grenade. Constructive feedback: the reload time felt really long, I wanted to keep blasting!

[I did not play the post-jam version]

CinderWoods by kirypto 2022-04-06T01:29:56Z

Hard game, but the short length let me play through a couple of times. I liked the pixel art and the gameplay was very unique. Constructive feedback: placing the barriers accurately with the keyboard was hard to do in a pinch. I would have preferred to just click with my mouse.

Super Me CID Quest by Carlos_7x 2022-04-05T14:25:15Z

Fun game! Here is some feedback from my playthroughs:= - Camera lerping and zooming was really well polished - I liked the story, it felt very mysterious. - Fought 2 bosses and had to choose the giveup option on one of them. They were really hard. - The hit detection on the players weapon felt off. A lot of my swings didn't connect. - The background music is good and very atmospheric

Pixel-Panic by IdeasPerSecond 2022-04-09T16:32:53Z

A+ game, really enjoyed playing it! I especially loved the well made tutorial!

Crime City by gtogrmri 2022-04-10T02:27:23Z

I really dig the pixel art of this game. The gunplay sounded good and the bullet shoot was really well done. I managed to stay alive for a bit, but I found your game to be really hard! I possibly add a healthbar so the player can survive more than one hit. Good entry!

Hot point by Debone 2022-04-10T05:11:34Z

I really like the heat mechanic, would love to see this concept explored more. The game is simple, but it's always refreshing to be able to complete a game jam entry. Nice work making a complete package.

Wait For It ! by Forgin Bits 2022-04-07T02:00:33Z

That was a surprising amount of game variety for a game jam game! Really well done.

Don't burn my Nugget by Gabriel Bissonnette 2022-04-05T14:09:35Z

Very pretty art style and great atmosphere! The game is very difficult though, I could only ever make it a few hundred meters without landing on my face or running out of speed!

Nightwaker by Bottled up Dark Peace 2022-04-07T13:27:36Z

Wow very unique game, I really enjoyed playing it. At first I wasn't thrilled with the constant J+L, but it really adds to the tension when you have to type other words. The audio and art style were so well done and nailed the atmosphere I think you were going for. I was really surprised by how creative the puzzles were with these mechanics.

Constructive Feedback: the player movement speed felt just a tad slow.

Forest by StudioCherno 2022-04-07T13:35:08Z

Unfortunately I am also getting the ‘Incompatible Vulkan driver version’ error on launch. I have updated my (AMD RX 5700 xt) GPU to the latest version (21.30.23.04-211216a-376209C) and still no luck. I watched some of your Twitch stream and I really want to play (and then rate) this game!

@ me if I can provide anything to help debug this. The log directory contains two empty text files, so no help there.

Hole by OlgaVek 2022-04-08T17:32:56Z

Really great entry, I managed to make it to the end on my third try. The ending legitimately scared me.

I think some visual indication that a limb isn't attached to the wall would have helped since it blocks movement of other limbs. I was confused at first why I wasn't able to move other limbs. Once I figured that out, the game played really well.

I'm not sure how this old man got to be so flexible. Would have loved some backstory explaining how he ended up in this situation in the first place!

The Boar by SergioPoverony 2022-04-10T01:38:56Z

A neat concept. I like the idea of having to keep eating in order to survive. The pixel art was good, but gameplay wise the enemies weren't very fun and I wanted to find more variety in things to eat. Fun game!

Omni Empire by arqitech 2022-04-09T16:50:14Z

I had a good amount of fun playing your game, and for a jam game it felt very complete! I did notice a few bugs, such as one of the planets going offscreen so I couldn't build there. I also felt the game was a bit easy, and the music was repetitive. Despite that, the good far outweighs any negatives here. Very innovate tower defense, well done!

Battery Buisness by Smoofy 2022-04-10T02:10:56Z

Making complete games in Scratch is surprisingly difficult, I'm impressed with what you've made here! Like others are saying, definitely check out another engine for your (bright) future jams! I would recommend Unity, though some find GameMaker to be easier to pickup.

Avoidance Advanced by KidderTTV 2022-04-09T23:19:22Z

Pretty fun. I managed to get 28 on my first play through. I think I would have preferred using spacebar over mouse click, especially when playing on a laptop.

Fill The Generator by LemonScripts 2022-04-17T17:45:33Z

Nice game, I liked how the cans gave me more time to keep hunting, that was a well thought out mechanic! As others are saying, the controls are really rough. I would definitely have preferred grab as a toggle, and it would be nice if you could enter a door by pressing up (W key) when standing in front of it.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Gelato Drift by thomz12 2022-10-05T18:18:42Z

Loved this entry! Was a ton of fun careening around the turns to get to those hungry folks. I really liked the 3d-in-2d effect and the art style in general. The ramping up of the music was great too. I also appreciated that the timer didn't start until after the first deliver so that I could learn the controls for a bit. My only critique is that it was unclear if running into things had any effect aside from slowing me? Great job!

Impending Doom of a Thousand Kitties by RalfZ 2022-10-05T19:08:48Z

If I stop playing these cats might starve! Send help!

Exorcist Patrol by PeachTreeOath 2022-10-08T15:27:06Z

Super unique entry, I've never played a game like this! I loved the strategy element of it as I got to the later levels. This could definitely be extended to a full game!

10 second base by Stratcat66 2022-10-10T14:04:07Z

Took me awhile to figure everything out, but I had a great time once I did! All of the buildings felt necessary, and the resource generation/collection was very satisfying! The only things I felt was needed was better feedback when inserting resources into buildings (some UI animation, sound, etc.). Congrats on the really great entry!

Burn Notice by pinkemma 2022-10-05T18:24:15Z

Very cool idea for this jam. The visual feedback for where the safe zone is during a fireball was really well done and intuitive. I think the controls need a little iteration, but congrats on a really strong entry otherwise!

Silvi by nardandas 2022-10-10T23:08:14Z

Such a zen game, and the plant growth game loop was really unique! I spent a little too long worried I would wake that cat though.... thank you for the great entry!

Assault on Hartblood Hotel by kiririn51 2022-10-05T18:55:41Z

The battle system in this game is surprisingly deep and the art style is really unique (in a good way!). Serious old school RPG vibes. Good entry, I had fun playing!

Bleeding vampire by Adnihilis 2022-10-04T22:39:47Z

Very funny concept and good use of the theme! I wanted some UI to tell the player their HP!

Spooky Doctor by Gonzalol 2022-10-04T22:57:17Z

Really polished and with great UX all around. The art style is some of the best I've seen yet!

Grandma's Groceries by chelC 2022-10-05T22:08:31Z

Fantastic art but that grandma had me fetch some weird stuff indeed.

[X-ED OUT] by Nash 2022-10-06T13:50:13Z

Wow that was a ton of fun! I played for a good 15 minutes. I think with some added enemy variety and maybe multiple upgrade paths this could be a great full game.

Also that screen shake juice :ok_hand:

Lava Crossing by GibsS 2022-10-05T18:59:41Z

I love the lava VFX and the chill music. I saw your technical writeup post as well- it was super interesting! Really well done entry!

10 Snekonds by YogurtTheHorse 2022-10-04T14:48:11Z

Great art style, all of the assets are really well done! The UI in the top left has great UX and is well thought through, I understood it immediately. The blocks that get shot off and will destroy your snake are a little too visually similar to the ones that you can pickup, I lost my first run because I thought I could re-pick them up. I also found that the blocks that provide abilities spawned too rarely!

Very nice game and great entry!

Ten Till Doom by oozer 2022-10-10T22:44:05Z

Fun and polished card battler- I think it's very unique gameplay! I found the most valuable card by far was the Fighters.

Bearly Fishing by SakuH 2022-10-07T01:17:31Z

An absolute blast to play! Also had a really well done difficulty curve which is no easy feat for a physics game like this.

Escape The Simulation by Dark Dungeon Studio 2022-10-04T22:27:16Z

Very cool use of the theme and a 3D game to boot! I love the backstory of it being set in a computer simulation. It was very easy to pickup and understand the glyph system, and the controls were nice and intuitive. My only critique is that I wish there were checkpoints so that I didn't have to restart from the beginning- it's a very punishing game!

Flip and Swap by WeAreDev 2022-10-06T14:17:11Z

Very cool concept, I think I made it to level 5! There were some neat platformer puzzles, especially involving the pushable balls and watergun- that was a really nice touch. I would love a way to speedup time so that I didn't have to wait the full 10 seconds during some platforming sequences.

Congrats on the good entry!

Anne & the Raccoons by GameDevTraum 2022-10-10T13:51:00Z

WOW what a polished entry! The gameplay is a little simple, but the art style and UI are really well done! It's such a small thing, but I really loved all the little UI animations that you added- makes the game feel so professional. I think with some extended gameplay this would make a great little indie game. Great job!

NN7 Guardian by Erlioniel 2022-10-10T14:19:02Z

Managed to beat it on my second try- what a great twist on traditional tower defenses! I really enjoyed playing it! The homeworld-esque graphics are top notch, the music is very chill. Definitly want to callout that transition VFX, very well done especially for a jam!

I think with some added unit varity and different enemy types this could really but a fun full game. I want to play more!

A Quick Bunny Affair 🥕 by Vidu 2022-10-08T14:12:21Z

Fantastic art style and great music. I loved the stylized tutorial screen too! Really well done entry! I think it would be fun to explore requiring the player to plant different crops to meet the objectives.

Don't Shoot Yourself by Bo Dangles 2022-10-05T18:36:33Z

Wow what a unique mechanic! Super well done. It combines a bit of strategy with 2d shooter mechanics really well!

Impact-Effect by IdeasPerSecond 2022-10-07T01:57:18Z

Excellent game with top notch enemy design! I managed to beat I, but it took me a few tries. Just an absolute great entry all around. The minimalist art style, the way the enemies moved, and the great soundtrack you selected. Excellent work, I didn't want it to end.

Spacivery by fireKS 2022-10-10T13:43:06Z

Solid entry! I really liked the 3d graphics (especially the dog and space house models!) and your choice of background music. Having only 10 seconds to pickup a package was really hard, I would consider making the map a little smaller, and then making it progressively larger over time.

Thirsty Vampire by mcmuniz 2022-10-10T23:00:01Z

Haha! Managed to score 30 with only 2 blood types necessary. It's a simple game, but I enjoyed my frantic race to find victims. The player art and run animation is well done!

Birdwatching by Iguanana 2022-10-05T19:04:52Z

My takeaways: - Scientific bird names are long - Your bird facts are great.

Mages Arena by makar-ss 2022-10-10T22:54:17Z

Very interesting gameplay loop! Teleporting to a safe room at any time to escape death is a suprisingly interesting mechanic. Neat entry!

Escape from The Aquillus by Alex de la Cour 2022-10-10T14:30:29Z

Very fun game! I managed to beat it after plenty of dying! I really loved your pixel art style and how the abilities were given to me slowy. Excellent level design too! Great entry, congrats!

Dimension Rush by LunariiSXZ 2022-10-04T22:51:03Z

Fun idea and great use of the theme! Your pixel art style really works well and the game feels fun to play. My only wish is that there was a checkpointing system so I didn't need to restart from the beginning. Otherwise a really strong entry!

Sokobyo by Roroto Sic 2022-10-06T14:03:19Z

Fun! I managed to beat the first 3 levels, but I got stuck on level 4. The art style in your game is very good! I can see why the players movement changed to 2s instead of 10- that would have been pretty frustrating. Maybe the zombie could have moved every 10 seconds to preserve the theme?

Sun's out Buns out by phufhi 2022-10-08T14:06:01Z

Very funny and with a really unique loop. I really like the wall building idea! One variation I think might be interesting to explore is if the bunnies only attack the wall if there is no other path to the plant. This way the player would have to create a "maze" for the bunnies to take- sort of like in a Tower Defense.

Boulder Bash by W4YN3R 2022-10-08T13:58:56Z

Fun games with simple mechanics like this are just awesome! I made it to wave 12 and was just about the size of the island . I would love to see different kinds of enemy behaviors or shapes in a future update. Fun entry!

ScramBumble by robeecodes 2022-10-10T22:36:27Z

Fun game, I managed 690 points! I really liked the art style, especially the background color palette! I would make the wasp bullets a different color though, I found them hard to see against the background.

Loop Arena by LorandusBianchi 2022-10-10T14:38:34Z

Very cool idea, I was not able to beat it though! I really liked the unique color palette of your art style- very cool asthetic! The UI that pointed me to the pillers was a really good addition, thank you for that. I think it could use a bit of shoot feedback, maybe some SFX and screenshake juice?

Termination Imminent by Kizilejderha 2022-10-07T00:41:59Z

Wow! I had a blast playing this game- it felt like a twist on Hotline Miami. Excellent use of the theme in this game with the global bomb timer that was always ticking. Great music and art too. Just a great entry all around.

Fish Knight by DiscoMusic 2022-10-06T13:37:23Z

I love it! It's hilarious and absurd. Like others have mentioned, I wanted the stomp to damage the crabs (but it's surprisingly fun just to knock them back as is), and possibly some UI telling me how many crabs I've killed. Fun entry!

Also really dig the 2D billboards in 3D art style you've got!

Spell Forest by mathead 2022-10-04T14:36:10Z

Really fun game, I played it a bunch of times! The upgrades were really fun, and I loved how the overpowered you could get if you found the right combos (I found speed is absolutely necessary!). I agree that one-hit death makes the game a little hard, and I wanted to keep going without restarting. Having multiple HP and possibly an upgrade that heals back to full would be an awesome addition.

Very strong entry! Also, a web build would really help with getting more ratings/feedback.
