Honestly, really good, you should continue development on this! I like a good RPG game, and Assault on Hartblood Hotel hits all the spots. Seems like you have grip on what you want this to be, so I won't say much, only thing is make the random battles less likely and take less time. Other than that, good game.
Really love the look of the battles, nice job
Loved the art aesthetic of the game! Lore seems cool. Would love to have more explanation on the combat mechanics.

This game looks really cool, though it takes a moment to orient oneself. There's a lot of content, excellent dialogue, and interesting mechanics. I do wish I spent less time fighting encounters of just The Same Zombie Forever, and my one death didn't feel fair - not much you can do when the game just decides to turn off your healer. That said, you definitely sold me on the antagonist enough that fighting her felt meaningful. Good job!
Great artwork, the gameplay is simple and interesting! Great job!

Absolutely loved this. The mood is really in there and the overall style of the game keeps that mood up as well. Dialogues are rather well executed and the music is absolutely on point. I would really love to see this become a bigger game.
Though, some of the curses can get annoying when you get dealt a bad hand, regenerating enemies and silence/disarm on your party members makes the battles drag on for way too long and if not for the fact that I was hooked on the game in it's entirety, the lenght of the battles would get boring after a while.
Aesthetic and vibes of this game are on-point. I love the character designs, even the enemies feel interesting and memorable. Dialogue and setup are intriguing too. I desperately wish to see more of this game, but after a handful of battles I did get a little bored of the grind. Would love more info on what the different attacks/abilities do (I haven't been able to figure out 'Tag in'), or why some abilities are available at some times but not others.
I'd love to see this polished and the combat streamlined into something a bit less grindy and repetitive. Keeping my eye on this one!

So you guys did it again :) Just beat the game. The music is awesome. The story is such an engaging bonkers, so good. I wish there'd be a bit more of the side dialogues!
Though I encountered a number of problems. 1. Mask's Discharge ability only targets one enemy instead of all, as it says in the description 2. The visual indicator of HP getting reset after each fight, but the actual health does not
Also I have a feeling that I did not progress properly. Because I was stuck after Key 1 and found a shortcut in the black space outside of playable area. To go from the breach in the wall from the starting location directly to the room with Key 3.
Never found Key 2, heh.
Anyway, thanks for your entry. It's always a treasure.
First impression - I got hit with a wave nostalgia at the movement+camera+setting. It reminded me of Battletech for...DOS? Crazy how I haven't seen that style in decades.
Quick note though, I got a bug a couple times. One where the enemies were dead and I seemed to keep getting hit. Luckily I was able to cast heal and finish the battle. I got it again a few fights later, but this time I only had the option to punch so I got locked up when I pressed it and had to restart.
2nd playthrough, killed the katana boss but in the next fight, as soon as I did my 1st suplex it froze up as soon as the clock finished rotating.
I'll give this one another shot later this week for a full review in case you find time to knock those bugs out. Or I can pray I don't step on a bug lol. It's super interesting so far and I'm looking forward to it though!

Took me several attempts before I figured you can go back to lobby to heal and recharge. After that game became a lot less stressful
Great game, great atmosphere, great music. Kinda wanted more diverse enemies (I think there are 4 types in total, including boss?).
@peachtreeoath Thanks for the bug reports! I've done a quick sweep and cleaned these up. Let me know if you find any others.

Had a lot of fun with it! Art is great as always (especially loved the portrait art for all the characters), and the music was excellent as well. Liked the way you feel like you dropped-in in the middle of the story and experiencing only a small fragment of a way bigger world and narrative.
Gameplay-wise it was nice as well, I found the game way too easy, but on the other hand I'm not the biggest fan of turn-based gameplay, so I did enjoy how quick and snappy it was. The game-feel is pretty good overall.
Didn't encountered any actual bugs, only mild annoyances from talking to/accidentally walking into NPCs I already talked to, only to get the same long unskipable dialogues again. Also I had a few seconds of getting to move after killing the last boss right before the game ended properly. Again, not anything actually terrible and more of some noticeable off moments gamefeel-wise.
Always a pleasure to play your stuff!
@postfrog I know this isn't particularly helpful now that you're already done, but you can hold ctrl to skip dialogue. I guess I should put this stuff in the description somewhere...

Fantastic aesthetic! Loved the art and banging tunes :D Great stuff for a jam game, snappy gameplay. Would have loved some more info on what stuff does but I figured it out eventually! Well done.
I'm uh, gonna need a hint for either the blue or green key >_> I ran around for a long time, reaching level 7 trying to find them lol. Nothing is more deflating than coming back to the comments section and seeing that no one had that problem.
@peachtreeoath you probably missed the open window in one of the bedrooms. It's mentioned in the dialogue but it's easy to miss. It's in one of the rooms that unlock with the first key
Got it, thanks! I forgot about that because I only read the dialogue in my first playthroughs and tried to speedrun the second time around to catch up.
An impressive amount of content and the art and music is fantastic.
I found the combat quite a bit of fun but having random ecnouters pop up so frequently with no way to avoid/leave them was frsutrating.
The story/world was flesh out just right, great job!

First up, what a nice nostalgic art and camera stlye! Love the theme that's going on. Quick to get into the gameplay and easy enough to understand how to play. Really really good game but to be honest I don't think it fits the theme of this Jam. I get that the moves cost "seconds" but it's basically just Mana as a different name. Great idea and execution though. Also a lot of content.
Small bug: I had to click "under" the attacks and not on them directly. I had to try to chose the correct attack without actually clicking on it.

Wow, old school RPG, I LOVE this! Aesthetics were good. The music in particular was Absolutely FANTASTIC.
I was able to figure out the battle mechanics easy enough, and the curse mechanic was a pretty great twist that changed how I'd typically play (gotta kill things fast!), though I never felt like I was strongly affected or in danger. Also the game did get a bit long and grindy, the map was probably a little big for the amount of content that was there,
I really liked the dialog, I did wish I had a little better sense of the actual plot, but I enjoyed the vibe and banter nonetheless.
Overall really impressive for 72 hours, Jam games are never perfectly balanced and I think all these things could be polished up and lead to a really fun final product. Great job!
像素美术太美妙了! 游戏的美术和音乐让我想起了最早的Metal Gear。 很好奇为什么团队里面有墨西哥摔跤手大叔和眼镜宅女。(*^_^*)
The pixel art is fantastic! The game's art and music reminded me of the earliest Metal Gear. Curious as to why there is a Mexican wrestler uncle and glasses geek girl inside the team. (*^_^*)

Really well made game! The art is so beautiful! The battle system also works really well. The characters and dialogues are so engaging. Excellent storytelling! I wanted to play more but it felt a bit too grindy. Once I got the first key I realized I would have had to walk back the whole way and test every door, so I gave up :D Even something as simple as coloring the door with the key color (possibly after inspecting once) would have made it a lot less daunting to continue. Overall I'm absolutely impressed at how much you managed to do and how everything works smoothly. Some polish could make this into a really good game. Very well done!
Really impressive jam game! Packs a whole lot of mechanics into a simple (but effective) interface. I really liked the way you applied the theme to a turn-based system.

This game OOZES charm and style. The artstyle is GORGEOUS and the jams are all BOPS. I did wish that the 10-second element of the curses had a more prominent effect, but I otherwise LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the game. I hope you guys make this to a bigger thing, but I'm happy with a series of these smaller chunks of game. :3

I beat Sayaka and won the game!
This entry was really great, the aesthetics are on point. Even though I had no idea what the actual plot was about, the writing was full of atmosphere and drew you into the world.
Gameplay wise, I didn't really feel the effect of the 10 seconds too much. I could see the effect on the timer, and I think different moves have different times, but I mostly just spammed the correct moves for the situation and ran back when there were too many curses. Also, it would be nice to see which character is under the effect of which curse, and the curse effect. Regardless, I really enjoyed it, good job!

The battle system in this game is surprisingly deep and the art style is really unique (in a good way!). Serious old school RPG vibes. Good entry, I had fun playing!
Third time's the charm lol. Finally beat the game, though by this 3rd run I knew everything I generally needed to do and blew by everything.
I loved the concept of time and curses. You probably played it safe on difficulty (as I also do every jam) because the curses were overcome with simple enough strategy and mindfulness. Regardless, I could see how that mechanic could really shake things up when fully realized. I tended to AOE things down with brawl and the other AOEs before picking the rest apart with non-resist abilities.
I liked the build up in the story leading to the boss. My personal taste in narrative is something that really sets up the villain, either in their backstory or sense of danger, so I was definitely getting a lot of that in this game. Of course by the time I got to her I could roll over her, but the anticipation was there!
As usual, I always expected something a bit new from your crew and this didn't disappointing. Very impressive that you tackle new genres all the time. And lastly, making a game where the 3 main characters have 3 different mask designs? I love it.

Great RPG! I liked the swears and all the blood and gore. I could red key door though. Awesome art and music. Way to go! Love it.

I beat it! Nice dialogue and story, with a pretty robust turn based system. I liked the art, though sometimes I wasn't sure where to go next (though I eventually figured it out). Great job!

The writing and atmosphere is top notch. Feels like I'm in some cyberpunk kowloon walled city like complex. The game is also surprisingly long for a jam game.
I struggle to feel the theme, it didn't really impact playstyle too much and some of the UI was a bit too quick. Other than that really dope entry!

Very cool game, the graphics and music and dialogue set a great mood and make the game seem much bigger than it is. I streamed this to my jam mates and they said it kinda reminds them of early Persona games. The battle system works well, it wasn't particularly difficult but still engaging. I also got stuck for a bit trying to find the next door but that only resulted me in grinding more and having less trouble with the boss so not such a bad thing, I guess? An absolute mood of a game, as the zoomers would say.

Not my kind of game but I enjoyed it nonetheless! Didn't notice the theme while playing, only later when I re-read the description mentioning the curse every ten seconds. I thought they were just special attacks from the enemy.
Unexpectedly a JRPG. The curse on timer mechanic felt a bit too obscure, as I didn't realize at first that it was timer that caused the curses to apply. Besides that, while felt as if you are thrown into the middle of the game, writing felt natural even without the context of "what happened before". Overall the game didn't feel grindy or too long at all, which was very nice. And art style of characters is stellar as usual.
On a side note, probably should've put the combat sound effects into a SoundGroup with a limit of how many can play at once, because murdering 5 enemies via Brawl was painfully loud. Maybe it would be a good idea to have a small icon indicating which keys you have collected.
Wow, super solid entry. I was surprised by the overall execution -- good graphics, good sound design, good writing, and mostly good gameplay. My only criticism is that while the curses are usually pretty ignorable every once in a while you'll get one that totally swings the game... Hikari got silenced on the first round of the final battle, leaving me to cross my fingers that I could deal enough damage before running out of HP.
