A Good Way to Die by Pennycook 2020-10-05T05:50:20Z
I liked it. Has nice art. Wish there was a little more to the puzzle. Was really quick to figure it out. Controls could use some more tweaking, movement feels slow and slippery.

I liked it. Has nice art. Wish there was a little more to the puzzle. Was really quick to figure it out. Controls could use some more tweaking, movement feels slow and slippery.
This game was great. The mechanics were interesting. You could make a lot of interesting puzzles with them. Good job!
The dashing and movement felt great. Too bad you guys didn't have time to finish. Would have been a fun little game.
Really interesting concept. Gets really hard the further you get.
Interesting little puzzle game. I liked it. Would be really cool to see this fleshed out more into a full game.
Music was nice. I agree that the controls could be adjusted to holding down a button. It gets tiring tapping every time to move.
Cool mechanic
Loved the pixel art frog lol really cute. Nice job
I really liked the art style
The music was really nice. Very Playstation/Nintendo 64 era vibes which was cool. Attacking could use some more feedback, I couldn't tell if I was hitting enemies.
Interesting puzzle game
Fun little game. I think it could have been harder though.
I like the simple graphics. The controls were a little slippery, made the game harder.
Really cute artwork
That was definitely something lol the music reminded me of the anime Paprika. Funny game
Gets more and more satisfying the longer you play
Fun game. Only things I would suggest is to increase the hitbox size on the powerups, a lot of the time I thought I was close enough to grab them but didn't. I also had powerup spawn on top of obstacles and I would hit they obstacle because I couldn't see it.
Very much appreciated that you added a mouse sensitivity slider to your game. The movement and controls felt smooth. It was hard to dodge the slimes sometimes though wish there was an attack or something.
Really liked this game. The music and art were great. The concept was really fun and a good start to a cool roguelike game. If you added different kinds of units and more power ups you could have a really turn this into a fully fledged game. Amazing job.
Pretty addicting gameplay
Very unique look and style. The mood was really relaxing with the music.
The movement mechanic is interesting but I don't think it meshed well with other things in your game. Specifically the combat was a lot more difficult because of the movement. And then the lighting on top of that makes it even harder.
The art, music, humor, and mood were all great. Amazing job. The movement was a little stiff and made platforming and combat harder than it needed to be, but other than that really great game.
Pretty nice game. The graphics and sound were good. The controls were a little strange and took a while to get used to.
Movement was a little slow and slippery, but nice game
The presentation was nice between the hand drawn look and the sound. Your take on the deeper and deeper theme was cool too. It was cool to see levels within levels and transition between them.
The gameplay could be a little tighter for such a difficult platformer. Variable jump height is a must in these types of games that are all about precision.
The character hitbox also seemed to be too big. Making it smaller than the character graphics is always better than frustrating players by having them die when their character clearly isn't touching an obstacle.
Horizontal moving platformers are also frustrating because your character doesn't move with them.
Didn't know which units were mine at first. Its hard to select units as they are moving as well. I kept accidentally moving my selected unit when I was trying to select another one.
The art, sound, and music were all really well done. The idea for the game is fun, but I think the controls were too slippery for a fast paced game like this. They need to be more precise. I also got trapped in a bad respawn loop between spikes and a bunch of enemies because they enemies don't reset when you respawn.
Cool concept, but I agree that the camera needs to be zoomed out a little more to see more around you. I kept moving past creatures because I didn't have time to react before I saw them.
Very short. I like the 3D pixel sprites.
I liked the idea for this game, but I think the execution could have some more polish. The elevator acceleration and deceleration made it too hard to stop on the right floor. It makes it difficult to stop in the right floor position especially when you have to look up at the top to see which floors you need to stop at.
The art was really nice and the sound was fitting. Just needed a little more polish on the gameplay mechanics.
Found the controls difficult and confusing
Creepy environment. Some of the sound effects were kind of loud. The mouse look was a little slow. Other than that good job.
Very nice graphics. Good job
Nice execution of a simple game. Good job
The atmosphere and aesthetic were really cool. Good job
The animations are really nice and the movement and platforming were fluid.
I couldn't understand what I was supposed to do before losing.
This game deserves more ratings. The audio felt really stylized, and the music was great. The pixel art has a unique interesting look that I love. Adding a minimap was a great design choice. The game felt smooth to play. The controls were a bit difficult to use, maybe a mouse control to aim and shoot would be a good choice, but it wasn't frustrating. My only suggestion is try to make a web version, if you can, so more people will play it!
Very relaxing. The music was great. Nice job
Really polished game. The graphics, audio, and gameplay are all top notch. Really nice to see that people still like the beat-em-up genre as much as me. Everything was really well done here. Very nice job. This game deserves more ratings.
The chiptune soundtrack was really good. The art style is really good as well. I feel like maybe I'm missing something in the gameplay? Its really hard to dodge enemies and I can't get too far without dying.
Very nice game. Good job
Starts to get hard once you get more fish chasing you
Really nice atmospheric music
Interesting game. The artwork is good. Really needs some sound. Feedback from the systems using sound and animation would help. A couple more systems to manage would add for a little more difficulty as well.
Nice idea for a game. Would love to see this fully fleshed out. The music was really great too.
Controls felt smooth. Wish there was some music or sound effects would have made exploring more atmospheric.
Nice artwork
Simple idea, but a fun game. Wish the controls let you use the arrow keys as well, easier to move around with my right hand with this type of game.
The bubbles and water effects looked great. Nice job. Could have been a little more difficult but was overall was good.
The art and music were good, the gameplay mechanics were fine. The game could use some feedback from sound effects while you are digging. I felt the movement of your character was a bit fast and it made it hard to control especially trying to go through small openings.
Great art style
The audio and art make for a chilling mood. The platforming was a bit clunky though. Movement felt too slippery.
Nice concept but I feel like it was too fast paced to keep up with everything.
I felt so bad for the cat lol
I really enjoyed this. The gameplay is simple but has a lot of depth. I enjoyed the graphics and sound effects as well.
I like the art style
Pretty fun game.
I enjoyed the simple pixel art. Nice job
Simple game, but I enjoyed it. Nice job
Nice job
The lighting and sound effects made it feel like you were really diving into the deep ocean. But the game felt a little easy. Maybe the mines could move back and forth a bit so they are harder to dodge.
Nice game
Really great pixel art and the sound effects were simple but effective
Really awesome job. Felt like a real OS
The lighting and art style are really nice. Wish there was some sound and music to go with it. I honestly had no idea what I was doing though lol
The visuals in this game are amazing. Great job
Cool idea, I like it.
The art was really great. Doing voiceovers for all the dialog was really ambitious. Good job.
Great job with animating all those characters.
Very interesting puzzle mechanics. Never seen anything quite like it.
This was a very trippy experience. Everyone needs to check this out. Nice job
The ambient sounds were cool
Interesting idea for a game and for the theme. Nice job
Fun idea for a game
Cool idea, but too unpredictable.
Really nice artwork
The game is funny and the shooting feels good, but yeah the music was a bit loud. Good job
The sound design is really good and the mechanics are interesting, but I got frustrated playing. Trying to balance breathing, conserving fuel, dodging debris so you don't get hit, and navigating through debris was too much going on at once. There were too many times where I couldn't get out of the way of debris because of other debris in the way and was forced to take damage or use too much fuel to move out of the way.
The graphics are really nice, good job
Very well made. You've created a really nice atmosphere with the music, footsteps, and lighting. The pixel art is great too. My only complaint is I wish it moved a little faster. The text dialogs could be sped up a bit, as well as the player walking. Other than that good job.
Fun gameplay, reminded me of Gauntlet. The movement was a bit fast for me and I thought the music got repetitive.
Funny idea for a game, but its too hard. Should be able to take more than one hit before dying. Strange the attack button is space bar and you aim with the mouse as well.
Creepy game with a nice atmosphere. Felt like I was going in loops over and over. Wasn't sure how to progress the game after Addison.
Really fun mechanic. Best part was discovering I could fly in the sky. The graphics are really cute.
The art is simply amazing. The game is both relaxing and hectic lol. Loved it. Good job.
The lighting was good and set the mood well
Cute story and art style. I found the music a little repetitive and the gameplay was too simple.
The music was really relaxing. I loved the pixel graphics. Good job
Progression was a bit slow. Felt like I was spending most of my time going back down where I came from. The art is very well done and the sound effects were nice.
Simple short game. I didn't understand what I was supposed to do at first. But on my second try I was able to beat the big guy by just standing still next to him and clicking. He seemed to bug out and stop if I got in the right spot.
Very visually striking art, nice work
Browser version won't load.
A nice start to a puzzle idea. I think it could use a little more polish. The ball moves too slow and I spent a lot of time just waiting. The camera angle could use some tweaking as well, it was hard to see where the platforms below you were at times.
I had a hard time with the controls. It was not very intuitive to me. Felt backwards.
Loved the vibes from this game. Nice job
Pretty funny game. Impressed you were able to add customizable characters.
The sound and art are great. But the gameplay needs some polish. Your character and enemies move way too fast especially with limited gun range. I died on the 2nd enemy because I ran into the enemies trying to get close enough.
Really like the pixel art. Movement felt really smooth as well. Challenging game. I wish the camera would look ahead sooner, I felt like I would run into enemies off screen quite frequently. I also didn't like being able to walk behind walls. My character got lost behind a wall and I thought I died at first.
I could play puzzle games like this for hours. Effective mechanics that can create virtually infinite amount of puzzles with. I love it. I don't know how many levels there are but I went down pretty far. Impressed by the amount of puzzles you were able to design in 48 hours. Nice job.
Reminded me of Doom, nice job
The graphics make for a cool aesthetic. The game was a little hard. The tutorial text popping up in the middle of the screen got in the way a lot and made it distracting.
The art is great and the music was a nice addition.
The art, animation, sound, and music are nice. The movement feels fluid and the feedback from hitting enemies feels good. But the gameplay is lacking. Its a very simple game without much going on.
The enemies are too easy to stop. There is no difficulty progression so once you play one room you've played the entire game and there isn't much reason to continue playing. Adding more enemies the further you go down, or different enemy types, or more complex rooms would add to the difficulty and variety.

Funny idea for a game. I think the mechanics are a good start, but they need more depth. The music, sound, and artwork were great. I only wish the game played a little faster, the zombies and attacking are too slow for me.
@thatmanrobin thank you, I put a lot of effort into making the music and sound atmospheric.
@geniye thank you
@theseusinabottle yeah, I was worried about people getting lost and not finding anything. The coordinate system I added last minute just to give the player some orientation. I was hoping to add some sort of navigation system to point players in directions but ran out of time.
Glad you caught the reference to Cowboy Bebop. Probably spent more effort into making it look like Spike's space ship than I should have haha.
@lakshyaisagod thanks
@vaincil glad you enjoyed the music, it was really important for me to get it right to set the mood.
Thanks for the feedback. Sorry about the text, didn't have time to test it for other resolutions to find something to fit properly. I accidentally found the bug that makes your gun get stuck firing too.
I think the movement feels a little slow as well. Might need to add another layer of parallax effects to give the player a better feeling. Its hard to tell how fast you are moving when there are no other objects on screen other than the stars.
@asdehielo thanks, glad you got a sense of vastness from playing. I wanted to add more landmarks to explore that would have been further apart, but I ran out of time.
I added the gun overheating pretty last minute. Before you could just shoot forever and it felt too easy. Balance was hard to get right. Thanks for the feedback.
@icoso thanks for the compliments. Really wanted players to feel the atmospheric mood, so it means a lot to hear people enjoying it.
@abu-sabiq-mahdi thanks.
The parallax effect is 3 layered sprites. The texture on the sprite is repeated. And to produce movement the texture is offset by the players position, direction, and speed multiplied my a factor depending on how "far" it is away from the player.
Sorry about the text size. I didn't have time to test on multiple resolutions.
@rafabriet I was hoping players would just wander around lol.
I wanted to have a lot more landmark locations to find, so no matter which way you went you would eventually find something. My vision was to have each player have sort of a different experience just heading out into space and finding something different.
Of course time didn't allow for it so the coordinates were a last ditch effort to give players something to find.
Thanks for playing.
@mdotedot thanks for the feedback. I wanted to implement a navigation system to let players find locations in game but ran out of time. The coordinates system was a quick fix. Thanks for playing.
@fribolin thanks for playing. This was the exact idea I had for the game. I wanted to add some more locations to explore to discover the story of this universe.
@omaewander thanks for the compliments, glad you enjoyed it.
@vincent-abel-grimalt thanks for the feedback.
@rawb thanks for the compliments, glad you enjoyed the atmosphere.
@nyanpierre thank you for the compliment and playing
@t90 thanks, glad you enjoyed the feedback from the gun, I wanted the shooting to bring you into the atmosphere just as much as the music and setting.
I agree the game needed a navigation system in game. Just ran out of time to implement something.
@mharitsnf thank you so much for the compliments, glad you enjoyed the atmosphere.
@minibetrayal thanks for playing. Yeah definitely some sort of navigation was needed.
@trabitboy thanks for playing and the compliments. My original intent was to let players discover things on their own, but have enough stuff in the game that no matter which way you went you would eventually find something and in a way each player would have a unique experience.
@sthealthinator thank you for playing, glad you enjoyed discovering something in game. That was I was hoping players would be able to do.
@bentglasstube thank you for the kind words and playing
@adamcyounis thanks again for playing on stream, was fun to see someone and chat react to it in real time
@bigbadbison thanks for playing, I wish I could have put more into the game to do as well. I had plans to add a few more planets, an asteroid belt, and a black hole. But the art and music just took too long to finish in 48 hours.
@mighty-mufflon-games thanks for playing, I definitely needed to add a navigation system for players.
@kitsomo thank you for playing
@last-angle thanks for playing, I'll have to see if I can reproduce that bug you found.
@axeltherabbit thanks for playing, sorry about the bug, I'll look into it to see if I can reproduce it.
@lakea thank you, I wish I could have added more to see.
@jhax thank you for the compliments and playing
@ishmandoo glad you enjoyed it
@dhim sorry about the danger beeping, I was hoping it wouldn't be too irritating and spent a lot of time tweaking the sound to try to get it right. I'll do some adjusting to make it less annoying.
Interesting suggestion about generating landmarks offscreen. I'll consider it if I continue the project.
@mikew thanks for playing, I'll definitely add some sort of navigation if the project continues
@xpycm thanks
@pookipoot I like that idea. Thanks for the suggestion
@sli thanks for playing
@pious thank you for playing, sorry about the text size, I didn't have time to test other resolutions.
@danny-sperling thanks for playing, glad you liked the sound and music
@systemeffect thank you, I took inspiration from a lot of science fiction and made it a little homage to the things I love. Nice to hear someone appreciate the references.
@chiyeon thank you, glad you enjoyed just roaming. Sorry I wasn't able to add enough in 48 hours to let you discover something on your own.
@mlho7 thanks for playing
@xpoho Спасибо
@millingmadly thank you for playing, glad you enjoyed the Cowboy Bebop reference
@sirred thanks for playing, hopefully I can continue the project and add more content.
@nice-gear-games thanks for playing, that's exactly the idea I had in mind for exploration. Players would be able to discover something and share those coordinates online with other players to travel there as well.
I think my monitor brightness might be a little too high because I noticed the stars are not as bright on other devices as well.
@wouter52 thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed the sound and graphics. Yeah, sorry about the text, I didn't have time to test for other resolutions, but I'll definitely keep the UI in mind next time.
@chrissx2 hey thanks for playing. I had thought about adding in refueling, buying ammunition, ship upgrades etc. But decided to keep the scope simple. If I plan to continue it will definitely be something I add in the future.
@youhou thanks, glad you enjoyed the mood. I wish I had more time to add depth to the game as well, but wanted to get the scope simple for the jam.
@ben-yazi hey thanks for playing
@halberd thank you very much
@goldenevolution thanks for playing, next time I'll give more in game direction so players don't get as lost as easily.
@paulhocker thanks for playing
@tanis thank you for playing
@blockerz thanks
@meta-link thank you
@fabula-rasa thank you for playing. 2001 was definitely an inspiration.
The ship flickering from movement is a bug. Its strange because it doesn't reproduce itself all the time, I'll have to do some more testing to figure out the cause.
@ardorugus thank you for playing and the suggestions.
@jose-bonilla thanks for playing, I'll definitely add some objectives if I continue the project
@rhoff95 thank you, I'd definitely be interested in continuing this project out and adding more mechanics.
@super-hadoken thanks. I'm glad you gave up trying to find 0,0 you would have been disappointed lol
@olddog thanks for playing
Probably the weirdest game I've played so far.
Not sure if this anti-game is worth it as I didn't get to the end, if there is one. I think it could have used something else to keep the player interested. More channels to flip through while you were waiting or something.
Really nice graphics
Impressive that you were able to add a CPU to play against
Funny take on the jam theme
Puzzles are really good. I actually got stumped on level 7. Couldn't get past it.
Interesting game idea. I liked all the different drones that you could place down. The graphics were nice. I think you should be able to select your drone with the number keys instead of cycling through with the shift button. I also didn't know what to do with the first boss fight right away, might need to make it more obvious what you are supposed to do.
Very nice art style. Especially the opening screen. Your attacks are really slow though, especially when enemies take more than one hit to kill. Felt like I was waiting around a lot just to attack again.
It was too easy to cheese the enemies by running away from their bullets.
The humor was top notch. Wish you could skip the intro it was a little long. Sound was a little loud for me as well.
Didn't know what to do after you get the screwdriver. Game could use some more polish
I love ocean diving games. The graphics looked nice. But the controls were both a little sluggish looking around and sensitive when swimming.
Could be a nice idea for a platformer but the controls need some tweaking. It is really difficult to coordinate jumping, placing a block, and landing on the same block at the same time unless you are standing still.
Good job for your first jam ever
Felt like it was too luck based for a puzzle game. I think diving should have more going on as well.
The art and animation were great. Wish you could have finished art for the levels it would have looked really interesting. Impressed that you were able to implement a wall slide. Very nice. The camera was strange though, it never seemed to be in a good position, either too far behind the character or above the character to see what was going on.
Good job with the art
The mechanics were fun, but I felt like there was too much movement going on. The helicopter and the camera zooming in and out really fast was too much.
The camera angle made the platforming sections a little hard to do.
The music is cool. I was playing on a laptop with a trackpad so trying to do the scanner part was really hard.
The gameplay and music was relaxing. I got to the end boss and had no idea what I was supposed to do. It seemed like fish would come out and explode and hurt the boss, but it was so random I felt like I wasn't doing anything.
Simple but fun game. Nice job
The pixel art was charming. I liked the music at first, but there was too much repetition. I think the platforming could use some work, the jumping was too floaty. Also wasn't sure why sometimes I seemed to jump a lot higher than other times. And I ran into the bug where all the enemies on the screen would just die randomly.
Fun little game, I did run into some collision issues like others
The pixel art is nice. Wish there was a way to sink faster, felt like I didn't have much control.
Nice music. Shooting with the mouse felt weird. I don't know if you were supposed to be able to aim or not but I could only shoot up.
Nice job
The graphics are really nice. Didn't like how you controlled the movement, made it too difficult to avoid hitting asteroids.
I couldn't get very far because of bugs. The movement felt good though.
Cool little retro arcade inspired game
The mazes within mazes tiles is a very confusing mechanic. It makes the game rather disorientating. Perhaps it would be less confusing if you could see the entire maze at one time, or had the camera zoomed out more.
The artwork is really great. The sound and music are also really good. Not sure if its just my laptop but the game runs a little slow for me. I'll have to check it out on my desktop when I get a chance.
Can't get past the title screen on the web version, there is no UI to start.
I liked the mood. I wish the camera was a little zoomed out more, I felt like I got lost easy because I could see much of the map. Also I ended up getting stuck between and object and the wall and couldn't get out.
Pretty fun. The powerup system was cool. Is there a way to get health back? I fell down a really long pit and just took a bunch of damage from enemies while I was falling and it felt a little unfair.
The sound effects were funny, but got repetitive and annoying.
404
Nice platformer. I got stuck and couldn't get back up though.
Cool little puzzle game.
Pretty funny idea for the theme. I found the controls difficult which added to the humor. It was a bit hard to tell where your hand was positioned though so I dropped a lot of chicken into the wrong spot.
Link doesn't work
The music is very atmospheric. When I landed in the web version however it just lagged too much and I couldn't explore the planet.
The music was nice and the graphics make the game feel moody. I like it
Art and music were great.
Kudos for making a 2 player game. Was too hard to play it solo for me though
Missing the platform and falling down is really satisfying lol. Very creepy. Nice job
Loved the style of this game. Really cool.
Incredibly hard. I couldn't get past the 2nd level lmao
This was a really fun game. I saw some gifs of it during the jam and couldn't wait to try it out.
Noooo the game crashed on me when I almost had everything upgraded. I accidentally selected a fully upgraded item and it crashed.
@luthwyhn Oh my bad! Didn't notice the bug fix version.
Got overwhelmed by zombies pretty quickly. I found aiming a little odd, I think using the mouse to rotate the player and aim would have been more natural.
Highly polished game for a jam. Would love to see this turned into a full game with more refined rules.
Pretty fun. There are some pretty OP combinations though that made it easy. I had a hard time reading the text.
I like the idea. And interface and graphics are cool.
You did a really great job on the art. My spacebar took some abuse playing this one.
Made it all the way through. The first level is quite harder than the last 2 though. The hitbox on the clouds is a bit too big when you have to get so close to see what it is.
The movement felt precise and snappy, I loved it. The controls and movement in platformers is overlooked so much during jams. But you got it right.
This was really fun. I got to what I assume is the final stage where you survive for as long as possible.
The graphics are super cool.
I had to play this because my original idea for the jam was a vampire type game as well. I thought it was pretty good. The dash could have been on a separate button though as it was rather difficult to dodge enemies in such a fast paced action game.
That was hilarious. I am going to feel bad every time I kill an enemy in an RPG now. They are just trying to pick some flowers :(
The game is fast paced and fun. Wish it had WASD controls as well, I'm not too good using my right hand to move around.
The graphics and animations are incredible for a jam game.
This was really fun and polished. Nice job.
@gustavo thanks for playing
@jonah-srg REZ was definitely an inspiration. The visual style of the character and enemies specifically. I've never heard of Graceful Explosion Machine, but I will check it out.
@lisyarus thanks for playing. The gameplay loop does get a bit repetitive which is why I tried to make the games quick, so people could try it out for a couple of minutes before they get bored.
@jared-lomangino thanks!
@esayitch 241 is pretty good. I say most people start having problems around 200. Thanks for playing
@xenomote I don't know if its perfect, but thanks for playing.
@frostbiiten thanks, yeah I wanted to add a boss enemy or add projectiles to make it more interesting, but ran out of time.
@furtive-pygmy thanks for playing
@haztro thanks for playing. That's an interesting bug, I'll have to see if I can reproduce it, not sure what it would be.
@david-york thanks for playing, I originally had the enemies take a lot of your time away when you took a hit, but I found the gameplay more fun and frantic as the time starts draining faster vs trying to dodge enemies, so I made them weaker.
@ideaspersecond Thanks for playing
@jsmile Thanks!
@circle thanks for playing
@austin-sierra Thanks. I kept the character design simple because its time consuming animating 8 directional characters.
@william-corrin My original design had the enemies do more damage, but I didn't find it very fun. I basically turned the enemies into fodder that you could zip around and kill quickly to race against the clock.
The challenge comes from trying to kill as many enemies as you can. So its what you make of it. I'm interested to see people push past 300 kills.
@castitatis yea I couldn't perfect the collisions while dashing so you can get yourself stuck unfortunately.
@gummibot sorry the mouse frustrated you. I generally play browser games fullscreen to avoid that stuff. Thanks for playing
@fifut a lot of people are finding the game too easy. I'll be sure to make a harder game next jam.
@vhalenn thanks for the input
@skyward4d thanks so much. I went through a lot of iterations of enemy spawning and couldn't quite find the right method. I wanted to add a spawn animation and delay but ran out of time.
Nice job for your first jam game.
I like the idea but the controls didn't work too well.
Nice game. Would have liked a little more progression in difficulty where it starts out with only a few bullets and gets more and more as time went on.
Really hard game. I liked the upgrade system.
Always like playing space exploration games.
The random generation makes the game pretty hard. I kept dying from falling down into nothing.
The lighting effects were good, I like the concept. I am not very good at it though I found the movement a bit too fast.
Balancing going after fuel or oxygen was fun. I got really unlucky a few times.
Highest quality game I've played so far. Gameplay is surprisingly deep for a jam game.
Well that was definitely unique.
Pretty fun trying to find ways to block the bulldozer.
Great sense of humor
Very interesting project. I could totally see this as an interactive fiction. Really crazy to see how people use AI art in games and media.
Very polished and funny. I love murder mysteries so this was fun to play.
Really love the look of the battles, nice job
I like the look of the game, but I think you could bump up the difficulty a bit.
Really difficult game. Once an enemy spots you, you are basically dead. They move too fast for you to outrun.
Cool idea, but trying to finish the puzzles in 10 seconds was really hard. It takes a second to figure out what you are doing and your time is already ticking down before you start.
The artwork is amazing for a compo game. Nice job
Cool to see another strategy game in the jam. Nice work.
The art and music are really good. Reminds me of Overcooked a little bit when things get hectic.
@anonymous thanks for playing, balance was definitely the hardest part. I threw cooldowns on buildings in the last 12 hours to fix some of the balancing problems I was having. It was either too easy or too hard.
@paroxysmal thanks for playing
@untitled-studios glad you liked the scale of things, its one of my favorite parts of the project. And sorry about the slow pacing, I know its not for everyone and was afraid most people would get bored rather quickly.
@vhalenn yea, the timers on buildings was added last minute to balance the game a bit. I was struggling to get the balance right between too easy and too hard.
@oadt game balance was the hardest thing to work on. I couldn't quite get it right with the limited time.
@jacob-diaz thanks!
@sky yea its not possible to win, just to survive as long as you can. Maybe I should have added a score as an incentive to "win".
@coleb I wanted to add in the ability to select buildings to see stats and also to sell them but I cut features in order to finish the game faster.
@stoickekis I actually had a flying enemy type planned that could only be killed by building towers, but I scrapped it to finish the rest of the mechanics and didn't have time to add it back in.
@serxiolas yea the balance was the hardest part for me. I couldn't quite get it right.
@clonze I wish lol, but it was definitely an inspiration
@vykri yea I probably should have had some sort of scoring system at the end. I got stuck on a couple of bugs and balancing to add more mechanics.
@cafebeef the difficulty was the hardest part for me. I was tweaking the balance of the game up to 3 hours before the deadline and I think I still didn't get it quite right.
@nash sorry about the sounds, I'm not very good with sound design and music unfortunately. The soldiers wandering too far is a bug. They are supposed to stick close to their spawn points but I wasn't able to figure out why it wasn't working correctly to fix it.
@phillip-scott upgrades for soldiers would have been a good idea. Thanks for playing.
@ben-barsdell its possible to reach the score in the trailer, but I play tested for hours and know the enemy spawn rates and timers on everything so my play experience is a little biased. A wall building would have been a good idea. I actually started using the extractors and supply depots as shields in my later testing.
@dr-v yea the balancing was super hard. I wasn't expecting it too be so difficult but it was the hardest part for me. Sorry about the timer lol, I kind of like having a lot of decimal places so I left it.
@venfola sound design is one of my weak points. I tried to make the sound effects not annoying, but I agree the gunfire gets irritating after a while. I wanted to have the buildings explode on death, but spent too much time trying to balance the gameplay that I didn't have time to go back and add in effects like that.
@borgi no, there isn't a bug with the end game trigger, I just didn't have time to add in a game over screen or menu. Thanks for playing!
@juanrod707 definitely a slow paced game, not for everyone.
The most atmospheric game about space kittens I have ever played.
Really cool idea and great atmosphere
Really satisfying to blow stuff up. My only complaint is the limited ammo.
I like the art and music, I'm not very good at memorizing the sequence though.
The art and music are really good. I'm a fan of these types of cooking games and the theme is pretty fun.
The artwork and presentation is really good. Controls felt a bit floaty, but playable, just made it a little hard. Overall good job
I can definitely see the inspiration. Nice job
Pretty fun game
The inverted controls got me killed quite a few times.
The idea for this game is cool, but its hard to form a strategy when the colors are just random.
Cool puzzle game, good job for your first jam
I think the style is really cool. With some sound and fine-tuned controls this could be a really fun action game. Aiming is pretty difficult with the arrows keys while you are trying to dodge enemies as well. If you swapped aiming to mouse controls and let the player mark enemies by clicking them I think it would feel a lot better.
Cool idea for a game. The sound effects and art are really great as well.
Controls are a bit difficult. Turning the shit should be reversed. It feels unnatural the way it is.
The game looks great, but had no idea how to play.
Cool idea and pretty good execution. Nice job.
Nice Doom-like, don't think I'll see another game in the style of Doom this jam.
@tk-dev strange about the movement, it doesn't feel laggy to me at all. Maybe the movement speed is too fast?
@0xwavy thanks a lot for looking at the updates and playing.
The presentation is really nice and it has a solid foundation for a game.
I couldn't figure out what to do.
The music was good and the gameplay nice. It could have used some balancing as it was pretty difficult.
The music was great.
