LD42 — Running out of space

Sweatin' Spinnin' Spacin' by blu3bird 2018-08-14T07:11:03Z

Simple in concept, difficult to master! At least for me on desktop; I found myself really struggling to get past 6 moon jumps xD Though, I noticed you can actually jump during the reloading screen, and if you do it at just the wrong time, it locks up the game with the guy just stuck floating forever. Very nice looking game, though: I love the art style.

Escape by CrazyGuy 2018-08-14T07:26:45Z

Not bad! Awesome geting a first-time entry, even if it wasn't what you first started making. Simple, but it's design makes it infurating enough that you don't want to let it beat you! xD I felt like the later levels were easier, though; perhaps if you got slower over time instead of faster that would increase the difficulty. Until eventually you're at a crawl or something, haha.

Headspace by Jaydek 2018-08-15T09:39:36Z

I really like the mood you were aiming for here. I'd suggest it'd help the feel a lot more if the "calm breath" was more of a dynamic breathing mechanic of some kind. Like progressively gentle and more relaxing breathing as you get longer streaks of calm circles, that suddenly becomes erratic when you hit a stress spike. But I understand the limited time.

Also if the circle were spinning slowly, I almost feel like they'd feel calmer. I reckon a smoother animation on the approaching black cloud would probably add wonders to the feel as well. I love the collection particle effects, though. They're real nice and pretty to look at.

Space To Breathe by kirb 2018-08-14T09:00:16Z

Definitely a cool concept, I like it. Unfortunately it does quickly devolve into spamming the mouse button while walking around, but it, combined with the spooky enemies, really does a job of making you feel claustrophobic, which I assume was intended. Really liked the pixel art, character design, and retro style, but I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff. Only other comment would be, outside of the enimies adding to the claustrophobia, they don't exacty pose much of a threat. They can be outran and avoided pretty easily, and I found myself rarely using the weapon or the grenade.

The Unicorn Shelter by senokos 2018-08-15T09:25:40Z

Man, I played this for a while. Tough game, and surprisingly addicting. I can't work out the best way to go about the game, it's very difficult to balance money and feeding and taking care of the Unicorns. Thoroughly enjoyed myself though, for what seems like a simple text-based game at the surface. Though, sometimes when scouting for donations, I actually lost money. Is this intended? I could understand getting nothing, but getting negative donations? Though, I suppose campaigning can cost a bit sometimes, so if that was the intention, never mind!

Get Rich or Dive Trying by Human Writes Code 2021-04-27T09:11:44Z

That was a really great experience. And I'm a sucker for punny titles! I love the pixel style of it! The pixel art of the boat especially is really cute. Though the boat rotating as a single sprite causing the pixels to rotate too bothers me a bit ^^;

One problem at the moment I feel is that it's not very balanced as you very quickly surpass any challenge of the game once you get a few damage reductions and such. That, and the kinda' wonky controls in my opinion, but that kinda' adds to the experience. It would've been cool if it got a bit harder or there was some more balancing as you progressed; or even something simple like damage reduction making repairs cost more.

That said, honestly, I really enjoyed my time with it. It was enjoyable just boating around a few times, collecting some treasure, selling it, and hiring a few people. It still had me playing the whole way through :)

Also, is the music based on *The Wellerman* or am I crazy? xD

Treasures Of The Depths by Uzpykes 2021-04-26T02:35:43Z

Very cool! Kinda' relaxing just clearing layers of blocks as you mine down. Personally I would've loved if something happened when you got to layer 10. Maybe it gets harder in some way, or it's just the end and you have to find the 5 diamonds before then. I like the subtle strategy that emerges too with when you choose to dig down, in trying not to miss a diamond.

Shleep by drewstillwell 2021-04-26T03:04:29Z

I love the punny title, haha! Very charming short little experience. I wish there was some kind of ending screen or something maybe where we see the sheep finally sleep. But I loved the layers of increasing dreamy weirdness when the music changes and all the different sheep (rainbow sheep was my favourite!).

Gone Fishing by matthewi 2021-04-27T08:27:42Z

A very calming and peaceful game. There's quite a lot of fun content with so many new and cool fish to find! The progression is a little slow for my taste, but in the right mood I could easily see myself spending a few hours playing just to relax. The music is very lovely and I love how it changes instrumentation as you get deeper!

Crypto-mine Disaster by Doc Kaos 2021-04-26T03:36:23Z

This ... sure is something xD Starts to get very tough at 16 (also I had a problem with the menu's not displaying properly in full screen). Funny nonetheless; I think the menu music made me laugh the most

Third Dimension by JuliusCube Arcade 2021-04-27T07:33:52Z

Wow, I'm absolutely in love with this puzzle mechanic! This was loads of fun even with so few levels. I could've played many more of them for sure! Fits the theme in my books, haha.

The choice of controls were a little odd to get used to, but picking the right controls can be hard for games that use the 3rd dimension like this. That said, perhaps the mouse could be used to rotate? Or A and D could be used in someway during 3D rotate mode. The rotation was also a little stiff I felt, too, slowing the puzzles down a bit. And I'm not sure I understand the reason for not allowing rotation while in the air (especially since this can lead to falling infinitely upward with no way back down ^^; ). Also, it might be a bug, but you can technically double jump and currently it breaks most of puzzles, haha ^^;

But otherwise I could really see this idea going far: with some more refined mechanics and controls and more puzzles really stretching the limits of all aspects of the mechanics I'd be hooked, haha! (Also, I don't know if it was intentional, but I love how when you restart the music doubles up and you get some cool chaotic patterns in the music as it plays over itself xD Makes it even more mesmerizing!)

In Too Deep by diharaw94 2021-04-27T08:41:17Z

I love the atmosphere and especially the voice acting. But it's not very obvious what you need to do to "clean the scene" to progress. Perhaps amplified by the fact, at least for me, the camera sensitivity was so extremely low that it was border-line unplayable. I'd love to see what more this game as to offer if this problem is fixable, as the environment and story-telling are very captivating on their own.

Multi-Dreamer by iluvrachel 2021-04-26T05:55:20Z

Very interesting. I love the idea of recursive levels, or dreams, where each level gives you something you need in the next. But I will say, I was very confused at first what the goal was as it takes a while for the first objects to spawn and you also immediately fall to the ground if you're not expecting it. I also think a full meter runs out a bit too fast. Definitely some cool potential here; and I love the "Easter Egg" when you go deeper than 3 levels, haha!

Garçon! by MercilessCult 2023-05-02T08:08:18Z

Okay, I have to say this game is so great I got pretty addicted to it xD Still can't beat Day 4, but dang if it isn't fun! Really makes you think and plan and remember to get everything done without becoming overwhelmed. Could play this for quite a while especially if it had even more twists!

And I just loooove the 3D-pixel aesthetic!

Postpony by Kii Krindar 2023-05-02T08:53:13Z

I'm glad ya'll are enjoying it! Thanks for the compliments!

@jejkobb Congrats on the 100% :D Took me a few tries to even get it myself!

@sledzik I never tested it, but I had a feeling! xD We had very little time for balancing, haha! I think on average 40-60% of the packages are invalid, so that is pretty likely. Could've been nice to give it some tweaking and maybe up the pass requirement higher than 50% correct!

Beat Boxes by PonyGirlLuna 2023-05-02T07:15:14Z

Oh, I love this concept so much! Unfortunately, for some reason, though I should have the specs to run it, it only seems to run at, like, 10 FPS on my computer :c Which is a real shame because I can see myself having an absolutely blast with this!

I pained through it regardless, at the least I got to see the cute "Wrong way ;_;" and "Missed D8" quite a lot xD Somehow got some perfects by total fluke. Managed a highscore of -320,300. Let's see anyone beat that 8)

I'd love to get to play it properly!
