LD42 — Running out of space

The Grand Order by Frozen Stick 2018-08-18T01:05:44Z

Grats on submitting! having the instructions in game on screen would be handy... and recognition of the play character would be a lot easier if they were contrasted from the environment more. All the purple and dark tones makes everything blend together a little too much, i think.

Polygon Bash by josehzz 2018-08-18T00:11:35Z

This was a lot of fun to play, sounded fantastic and looks beautiful. Fantastic submission!

Legacy by gil4 2018-08-15T01:04:32Z

Appealing visuals and really nice mood on this game guys! I love the design of the player character and the colours are really perfect.

Djabo by thomas-olsson 2018-08-14T06:35:50Z

Wow... this is amazing. Level design, visuals and audio came together well and the level of polish on this is great. The theme was catered to well in an exciting and unique way too!

Slime Escape by Dom Harris 2018-08-15T00:01:30Z

Yeah, definitely has some SMB feels in the difficult platforming, but it was really enjoyable. The colour change on the slime makes a huge difference and helped clear up initial confusion about portals and really helped the visibility of the player out a lot in the scene.

The controls felt a little sticky at times, but with a bit of practice and some frustration, it's possible to not keep getting thrown out of a portal right into spikes every time :p

Seasaw by mikkpr 2018-08-14T00:12:33Z

This was lovely! The audio and graphics really captured a chill tug-boat fishing vibe, but it contrasted with the slightly stressful gameplay. Great submission :D

AL - A Choose Your Own Adventure by starvingindie 2018-08-15T04:11:17Z

Visuals were amazing, great art style. It suited the crazy storytelling perfectly.

S.P.A.C.E. Module Collectors by AdroitConceptions 2018-08-14T00:03:38Z

Was a little confused about how the theme fit and has a little trouble with some of the writing going off-screen for me on the first scene, but great job for the time spent. I think the randomized decoration got a bit lost in the color pallet, but the import stuff stood out, which is more important I think.

Final Voyage by Simon Rahnasto 2018-08-15T03:44:47Z

I was a little lost in the beginning, but after I stuck with it... wow. I can't believe you guys built this in such a short amount of time. Fun game, and great level of polish. The voice acting is a very nice touch (and my dyslexic brain appreciates it!)

Dark Lord Ludum Dare by MartinTristan 2018-08-14T06:21:54Z

Haha, this was really fun. Awesome job. Very addictive.

Firewood Manor by Michael Feldman 2018-08-13T22:46:05Z

I like the take on the theme, and the graphics and mood were well done :)

Chill Daddy by guilhermesouza 2018-08-14T00:19:52Z

I was a little confused about my aim in the boss battle. I assumed I was meant to attack it, but the lack of feedback on if my attacks were doing anything made it hard to gauge if I was understanding correctly.

Great mood/audio/art, though.

Meteor Shower by beanslasher 2018-08-15T02:47:26Z

Nice submission. I feel you on the limited time! I had work and birthday obligations to work around this weekend... but yay! We both submitted! :D

Looking forward to seeing the game again after you finish polishing it post-jam!

Catching Sushi! by kokirisandfriends 2018-08-15T03:39:10Z

Really cute game. The mood/theme/graphics were all really well put together, with a little humor thrown in. I loved the addition of the hungry sushi-lover with their nose pressed hungrily against the glass!

I would have maybe added a timer and a way to gain small time increased to add a bit more challenge to the gameplay to increase the stakes and engagement... but overall this is fantastic! Very polished and well put together.

Roham! by Fenderbate 2018-08-14T23:39:25Z

I really liked this submission. I would make the health dots green to match the pick up, since health/damage is hard to keep track of. The aiming controls were also a little awkward. Mouse point to aim direction might have made it feel better.

Loved the enemies! Great variety. It was also very on theme, good job!

Moxie by Pohko 2018-08-15T03:13:56Z

Fun and pretty game! Really good polish for such a small development period. Good luck with the future mobile release :)

R.O.O.M. (Really Obvious Objects Moving) by NorthernDevGuy 2018-08-14T22:32:08Z

I liked the overall concept and the mood was set well. Great entry for your first jam, Craig :)

The Unfortunate Story of Hans by Bloc97 2018-08-17T22:38:05Z

My dyslexic brain is thankful for the font change feature!

Headspace by Jaydek 2018-08-14T21:33:17Z

Thanks everyone! I'm not really a coder and I didn't have a team, so I was definitely using and trying to expand on a few youtube tutorials. Blackhthornprod was definitely the main source to get some mechanics working before the deadline. I'm glad the visuals/audio/theme came together for a good mood, because that was my main aim going into :)

Headspace by Jaydek 2018-08-15T02:45:26Z

@adroitconceptions -- thanks for picking up on the menu issue. I will try to get a fix up in the post-jam build!

Headspace by Jaydek 2018-08-15T04:04:16Z

@powerauer thanks for catching that. I was able to replicate the bug after several playthroughs, I'll try to get a fix up for it!

Headspace by Jaydek 2018-08-15T04:19:09Z

@nam-nguyen -- thanks for the feedback! I did originally have the cloud retreat after time, but that seemed to bug out a lot and I haven't found a fix yet.

I'm planning to further push the concept and continue fixing up any bugs post-jam!

Headspace by Jaydek 2018-08-15T10:00:53Z

Thanks @sigmath-bits, all great feedback! I'll take that into account for my post-jam rebuild. Hoping to add a lot of the stuff I didn't have time for.

Headspace by Jaydek 2018-08-15T21:34:49Z

Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to read my post-mortem @mmmuscus !

I'll definitely keep working at it :)

Paranormal Investigations: The Darkness by Jesse Titus 2018-08-14T06:19:12Z

I'm a little lost on where the running out of space theme comes into it... but I really loved the way the visual and the audio come together to create a really strong mood. Great job, especially if this is your first jam!

Beyond Space by Allan Kong 2018-08-14T23:52:10Z

Theme was a little easy to miss... but otherwise, this was really fun and a great entry. I agree about the making $ in the 100's to make it feel more impactful to get and spend.

Cluster by Ignacio Zamorano 2018-08-15T04:31:49Z

I wasn't exactly clear on what I should have been doing... Do I get the into the folders? If I had to guess, the aim would be to hit the files to death and not put them in the folders? Would be nice to have some kind of feedback when a file gets put into storage, and how that is actually happening so that the player can be clear on it, and have a better shot at preventing it it.

I also think the enemy animation on the being hit could be more obvious that its's having an effect rather that their eyes(?) getting smaller.

The guy at the screen is terrifying though, haha. I think that was my favourite part! Overall it feels fair polished, and the graphics work well for the game. A little confusing, but otherwise, nice work!

In Roll The Waves by Eoku 2018-08-16T01:02:04Z

Seriously... the only thing I dislike about this game is that there isn't more of it! I hope you continue work on it past the jam. I would totally buy this game on mobile to just chill with.

The Unicorn Shelter by senokos 2018-08-15T03:29:54Z

Got drawn in by the title graphic and was disappointed by the lack of graphics in the game itself... I'm a little dyslexic, so the lack of colour and design of the typography made it hard for me to stay engaged, sorry!

Grats on the submission, though. Good luck with the jam!
