Pretty neat! Overall, well done.

welliton 2018-08-14 03:37

I think my highscore was 1179, something like that. I was kill by a meteor 4 times. It would be nice if there was a sign telling where the meteor is going to fall, fast at least. Cool concept, i tought that i was a wick in the begining, and if a meteor would fall in somewhere that i passed, it was going to burn everything :)

beanslasher 2018-08-14 03:54

@welliton I appreciate the feedback, I made it like that because I wanted challenge to the game haha, I could change it, if it was for the better. I let my audience decide :) I think that is funny that you thought you were a wick, that would be one hell of a concept hahahaha! Thank you for the feedback and I hope to see you in the next Jam in December!

bustosman 2018-08-14 04:01

Gameplay is good enough for this game to be fun. Right now I'm just rating the current state of graphics and it's mostly solid. Make sure to loop the theme song so we don't have to play without any music. One more thing: it's not really innovative because many games are like this, but what does try and make it original is the random fall of the meteor.

beanslasher 2018-08-14 04:21

@bustosman I realized this with the music once I had submitted I will be fixing that bug and re-uploading by tmrw , just got to be sure that is okay within the guidelines haha. You can replay with music if you goto the menu then the play button for the time being :) Thank you for the feedback it is much appreciate it!

hdmmy 2018-08-14 04:50

The land point is hard to determin in this camera direction

adultlink 2018-08-14 04:53

Solid simple game, the idea is simple enough to just five into it, which is good, but it just falls short after a while. It does have potential do be much more interesting imo tho, keep working on it and expanding the complexity and you'll learn a lot :)

kptemre 2018-08-14 05:23

Lovely game but you need to add in more fun to running around. An easy fix might be much more coins.

popdaddygames 2018-08-14 05:25

Make sure you expand on your progress after the jam! You can square away all the little things you couldn't wrap up on time, and really polish the heck out of your little gem! :)

sohakes 2018-08-14 05:25

Got 1661 at my second try. I didn't really understand why the game ended, I don't think I was hit, and I also didn't fall. The game is simple but it's fun. The meteors are too hard to see though (maybe I was hit?), and I agree that something should show where they are going to fall. It's okay to be random, but I think it's unfair if you have no chance to react.

I know you didn't make the music, but great choice, fits well in the game. The character is also cute.

beanslasher 2018-08-14 05:26

@kptemre I hear you, I will have to check the guidelines if I am allowed to fix that, if so it is a very quick fix, and I can do so with ease! Just got to make sure I don't cheat or anything along those lines :) Thank you for the feedback

beanslasher 2018-08-14 05:30

@sohakes Thank you, I will polish the game after the jam, I plan to make a couple changes, but I had limited time due to my line of work haha! I will add an indicator, and you may have been hit, sometimes the meteors fall at a faster rate, 400 speed times Time.delta time if you are familiar with Unity. It is pretty fast, I will add the updates after the jam is scored! For sure, I made the character in Blender. Thought it turned out okay. I would have done the music, because I am a musician but due to time, I had to crunch time and pick a CC0 track, and opt out of audio. Thank you for the feedback, I am making notes to fix all these items as they come in. So I really appreciate the help!

beanslasher 2018-08-14 05:32

@popdaddygames Haha Thank you! I am planning to update the game to make it a nice polished game, wished I had all 72 hours, but I started 8 hours into the jam, and had 9 to 11 hour work days, so I lost sleep for this :p I am really happy how it came out, but I will for sure update and fix all bugs once the game is scored! Thank you for the feedback, it really helps!

jtrink 2018-08-14 06:55

Great submission for one person with limited time and other responsibilites! I agree with the others, it would be really nice to see where the meteors are about to fall. It felt like the coins were always spawning just behind me or just in front of me, so they weren't really guiding where I needed to go.

Did you experiment with other camera angles as well? Feels like an angled overhead view would have made it a bit more intuitive to navigate.

frontlinesaint 2018-08-14 07:00

this is a great game with lots of potential good luck with it make sure to work onit when the scorings over

beanslasher 2018-08-14 07:01

@jtrink I fiddled around with camera angles, and smoothing the camera, but I could not get it to something desirable in time, and I did not want to get stuck on 1 issue, so I kept moving on. Once the scoring is over in the game jam, I am polishing everything in this game. I am making the coins spawn more, and in front of the player so it is more guiding, I am also fixing the camera, and for my own personal changes, making the player's HD skin. I used a basic skin so I did not spend all my time on it. I am also a one man team haha! I wish I could make the game like I wanted, but it all came down to time, and I am a full time student and full time work :p But I am studying Game Development, so the Jams really help out and all suggestions will be added after the jam :)

green-rail 2018-08-14 07:17

Controls feel surprisingly nice, especially with a controller. Texture on tiles have a clunky quake 1 kinda vibe. Some procedural generation would be great here. Also I agree with the comments about meteors and falling tiles. It's a bit frustrating when you can't see it coming.

beanslasher 2018-08-14 07:21

@green-rail I really like the feedback, the controls took a while to make really smooth, but that is an aspect that is important to me. As for the meteors and falling blocks I will for sure fix that right after we are scored, I am working on it now, so it will be ready when the time comes when I can update the game! I am going to redo graphics to make it a little more HD in the future, hope to get this all out right after the jam ratings end :)

preda 2018-08-14 07:38

Its a pretty good game! Nice animation for the player! But it has bugs like any other game. The music is too loud.

beanslasher 2018-08-14 07:40

@preda the Directions are at the top of the page, in the description and the music is a little loud, you would just have to turn it down a bit on your PC for the time being :) I will fix it after the jam

newokmyne 2018-08-14 07:40

Pretty good game, i like your concept, I think I'm gonna play it many times when I'm bored or whatever. Good job :)

beanslasher 2018-08-14 07:43

@newokmyne Thank you haha! A bunch will be polished after the jam ratings end :)

haveaniceday 2018-08-14 18:31

Really nice looking game. Along with that, everything felt natural, and the music was great. There were bits an pieces of the game I noticed weren't finished, but I think that once you do get them done it could really be a great game. Good work!

bigbosserndog 2018-08-14 20:33

Nice simple game! Felt a little slow because of the slow spawn rate of coins. How dark the game also dampens the game. But it's kinda fun, reminds me of classic minecraft server games. Good job!

beanslasher 2018-08-14 20:34

@haveaniceday @bigbosserndog Thank you for the feedback , I am planning to polish the game after the jam scores come in :)

paulo-augusto 2018-08-14 22:21

I liked the graphic very much, I found it innovative

jaydek 2018-08-15 02:47

Nice submission. I feel you on the limited time! I had work and birthday obligations to work around this weekend... but yay! We both submitted! :D

Looking forward to seeing the game again after you finish polishing it post-jam!

beanslasher 2018-08-15 06:38

@jaydek Haha, It was super fun...For sure next time I will take off work :p

arche-san 2018-08-15 10:01

Highscore : 1422 Pretty nice. Game is simple but mechanics are solid. Good job! :)

zeriver 2018-08-16 02:24

That was a fun action packed game. It's really impressive for 3D platformer to be that easy to navigate, usually it's hard to get right perspective for such games, but here jumping and navigating around the level wasn't much of an issue. The graphics are simple, the textures on cube could use a better unwrapping but still the constant meteor shower gave a nice illusions of chaotic scene where you are in a constant danger. Controls feel pretty responsive and it feels good to make a series of hard jumps to survive a little longer. In general, it was a fun concept with a good execution, well made!

Shame there isn't a top scores online table, would be cool to see how well other players did and compete with them. My High Score was 2137 i think.

beanslasher 2018-08-16 03:39

@zeriver Thank you so much for the feedback, I am thrilled you liked it, I have gotten mixed feelings about the pace of the game. However, I am pleased that you liked it! I should have made the highscores an online table, that would be cool :)

jtn191 2018-08-16 04:13

I made it to your game whilst streaming! my high score was 1675!

beanslasher 2018-08-16 05:10

@jtn191 I will look back in the vods for it! I wish I could have watched it live haha :)

peachtreeoath 2018-08-23 04:51

Woo I'm impressed with some of the scores people are putting up here. I feel like every time I do a good run I accidentally step onto a falling platform or get hit by a meteor and end it all. Agree w zeriver that you do a lot of little tricks to up the tension and make it feel like you could die any time, you did an excellent job with that part. Fun, tight controls and a good sense of fun game design, well done.

beanslasher 2018-08-24 04:22

@peachtreeoath Thank you for the feedback, I really was on a time crunch for this jam but I did as much as I could, it could be improved a little bit, but for what it is I am pretty happy with the result. :)

rahim-pxr 2018-08-27 17:04

Nice game, Love how everything is balanced! Good luck, Don't forget to take a look at ours if you don't mind and see what it's like when we just focused on graphics in this game jam! Game Link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42a

beanslasher 2018-08-28 02:22

@rahim-pxr The link was a 404 error, I would like to try your game though.

2021-09-02 19:52

This game reminded me of Minecraft, most likely because of the graphics. I played on a similar terrain on one server https://minecraft.buzz/category/pixelmon, so I have such associations. If you created such a game yourself, then you are well done. Continue in the same spirit, because perhaps someone will replace you and invite you to his company. And there, you will already work with larger projects, but at the same time, you will participate in the development of games with a large budget. You will succeed, my friend! In short, in no case do not give up this case and go only forward.
