Nice job! You did some pretty cool stuff. The animations and screen shake really add to the experience. You even did a mini map.
One thing I would say, is the combat doesn't feel very rewarding. Shooting your bullets doesn't have much action, or "POW" to it. I even tested it out, and you can almost out-run your own bullets. Maybe I'm accustomed to fast-paced games, but it did feel a little slow to me.
That being said, I really do think that you have good art, and the game overall is great.
Actually pretty addictive, the music was loud but other than that great job! I might keep this one on my desktop to kill some time with.
Awesome stuff, very fun! Why can't I rate the audio tho...
I Had took the background Music from the internet
Thanks for the comment&rating! Enjoyed your game. I like your artstyle. Keep it up, hoping for another entry of yours.
@allan-kong,
I see you used music from freemusicarcive.org... that is against the compo rules.. one of the check boxes your required to click for the compo even has you state that you made all the assets durning the 48 hours.
Everyone, I removed the background Music so that it will meet Compo requirements sorry for that. All fixed now! All assets created solo
Nice Game! The controls felt really good, maybe speeding up the game might make it more enjoyable tho. Good work
I absolutely love the art style. I love the paralax on the background its sooo good. The sfx are rewarding too but I felt like my shots were travelling pretty slow even with speed upgrade. Didn't take away from experience though, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this one.
The gameplay was very fun, though the gun didn't feel very powerful (Maybe add a particle effect when it hits or shoots), and the lasers moved very slowly. The controls were pretty good, and the background was very nice.
Really fun game. The mini maps are kind of hard to read. Great job!
You made a pretty fun game! If you had made the enemy spawn at the beginning a bit higher, it would have been easier to get into. And the sound was a bit loud...... But great game!
cool game i enjoyed it
Pretty fun, though I only beat three levels before I lost on the fourth. My only real complaint is the minimap is really hard to see with the stars floating over it.
Great job overall though
Really cool little game shooter with a nice progression between levels! I love how fluid the whole game is, and it was super fun to upgrade my ship and go after the treasures of space. I would have loved to be able to shop in peace without being shot at but that added to the fun of the game.
Overall a little music would have made it even more awesomer. Great job!
@sokuaisushi The reason that the minimap didn't block sprites was so that you could see incoming enemies. Thanks for your feedback!
Everyone, I am so grateful that I received so much affection. Thank you all for playing
Nice touch on the mini map, though it looks a bit too messy sometimes.Still, you did a pretty good job, especially with such young age :) Keep up the good work!
@allan-kong You can press the edit button. (Go to **My Game / Edit**)
I'm 13 too! Nice!
Really cool game, especially for 13 year old) Not sure about the scroll wheel using and innovation, but everything else is pretty nice!
Nice Game, I started making games at that age too.
This is probably the best compo game I've played so far! Super impressive! All of my complaints are just tiny little things (I wish you started a bit faster/more powerful, I wish it was more obvious the white void kills you, I wish the shop was a bit easier to interact with). Seriously you should be super proud of this! Parts of it can look a bit messy, but overall this game is incredible!
I liked the game! I wish there was music but you did have sounds. Also it became a bit boring after the first level because there was no challenge. Maybe fuel should have run out faster?
Awesome game! You also have 13 years old, WOW! Jam theme fitting and enjoyable.
Good work!
Nice game, enjoyed it very much. Keep it up!
Would have like that you keep inertia and that to stop you have to turn and boost the other way (like in Asteroids for example).
@thebmxeur, I tried that, but was queer with shooting with the mouse too, because the player bullets would pierce through the ship
Really neat. Not special, but neat and fun!
I encountered a little bug when reaching the border of the map, where the minimap would become all white, otherwise, the game is great!
@soyertek It is not a bug, It is because the mini map allows sprites to layer above. Thanks for the notice, mate!
Great game and I enjoyed every moment of playing it. **Fantasitc job!**
Cool game!
The art is fine, the sounds are fitting and good.
Great job on the minimap, different enemies and all the content! Solid entry, and good job! :)
Good game ! Pretty nice art style (I especially love the parallax background !) and cool gameplay, even if a bit too easy.
Really fun game! Super impressive amount of content that you were able to implement. I think maybe tuning up how responsive your ship felt might have made it slightly more fun. Also, tell people at the beginning that middle button restarts, maybe. I messed up my first play through that way. Love the sounds / gfx.
Fun game. I like the parallax effect on the stars in the background, and the little ships you get following you around are pretty neat.
I totally didn't get how this related to the theme until I realized that the white boundary was actually shrinking, and shortly after, I lost.
@schsam middle mouse doesn't restart, when you exterminate the enemies, you can progress to the next level using the mouse
@allan-kong Ooh! I didn't realize I had gone to the next level! I think I had killed like 50 enemies in the first level then, lots of overkill so to speak. Thanks for the clarification :). Btw, I also made (much worse) games when I was 13... You're totally killing it! Great job.
A satisfying game! I like fighting waves of enemies and pushing my luck with collecting a few last resources on low health near the edge of the universe
Amazing game! I literally tried to RUN OUT OF SPACE... and hit a big white wall.
Nice game! Pretty funny :)
@p1nkmaria What part was funny?
Fun game. Maybe it would be good to add Support for the Keyboard for easier Control.
A simple game executed very well. Great visual effect and sound effects. There was a good amount of enemy variety too. I would have liked for there to be more upgrades.
@raziyya The shop was one of the last things I did, sorry for the lack of upgrades
Really well done. Very fun, very polished, good music. The only criticisms I have are their doesn't seem to be an escape button (Not that I could tell), and not having invincibility frames after getting hit is really annoying, especially if their are a bunch of enemy bullets right on top of each other.
This game has old school bullet movement, pretty neat.
Fun shooter! I would like to have seen a bit less friction or a bit more speed on the player ship to really get that momentum going for strafe shooting, but I had a good time playing.
Announcement, Before, I borrowed a font and forgot, I replaced all the fonts with custom fonts made myself. Now I can confirm that everything was made by me.
Hey Allan :) ! A huge well done ! Beyong Space fits really nicely with the theme of the jam, the simple pixel art and animations are great and the few sound effects you did add to the game are juicy and just make everything feel that much more fun and interesting :) ! Being so young and making something this complete, polished and great in such a short period of time in a BIG achievement ! Keep it up :) !!
@noa-calice Hey thanks so much for that positive feedback, it it weren't for you, I couldn't have had smooth music transitions
I first found the controls strange, but finally it was fun to play.
The fact that the mini map is transparent confused me.
Besides that, I enjoyed it!
It was fun!I was a litle confuse about how the shop works because a I was shoting when clicking on the item. But it is a very enjoyable game. With some music would have been awesome!
Hey, good job with your entry!
The feedback I'm giving is considering that you're going to continue developing this and are suggestions from first time playing it.
Let's get into your game criticism:
• I like the multiple enemies and the way you arranged them, that's great! Good job!
• The moving sound is very repetitve
• You can easily get yourself "lost", the map isn't really reliable cause there is too much thing, just zoomed out, and it is hard to see. Since you've used unity I can give you a suggestion. The camera rendering the map can only capture Enemy/Market/Player using layers, and you can put a background color behind it, it'd make the game easier to track yourself...
• The 3-layer(?) parallax is really well made, so I can have a nice sense of movement in space, which is nice. But aside of that I'd make the player movement faster or scalable.
Since I didn't manage to play for a long time, that's all feedback I can give. Hope that can be useful for you.
In case you continue to develop your game let me know! I'd love to see your progress, my info is on my LD profile.
Do you mind to give feedback to our game as well? (It’s a platformer, I don’t know if you like the genre but it is important for me to have feedback from player who like and dislike it). The link to it is on my profile, I won't post to avoid spam.
Oh, forgot to tell where I've stopped, since that can be useful. I almost completed the 10 enemies challenge (didn't die anytime).
@nyunesu Of course I can play your entry and thanks SO Much for this positive and constructive feedback, and yes, I love platformers
I cannot embed twitch highlights, here is your game: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297300090?t=00h43m23s
Really fun, amazing music with cool graphics and gameplay. I like how you've incorporated the theme and made the mouse the only thing needed to play with!
Really fun game! I enjoyed flying around and I like how you displayed stars. I would maybe make money in hundreds (so 100 instead of 1) just so the player feels like they got a lot of money for doing things right. Good job :)
I liked the game, only thing is that i would like the text to be bigger or more noticable. Great job!
Theme was a little easy to miss... but otherwise, this was really fun and a great entry. I agree about the making $ in the 100's to make it feel more impactful to get and spend.
Thanks all of you guys for being such a cool community, I hope you guys do well and I play your games too.
-> Close the loop and motivation for the player, link fuel directly with killing
-> Work on adding a "skill driven mechanic"
-> I just think the game lacks innovative application and is not really compelling, I think a few small changes could make that better.
-> The theme was not really connected to the game in a meaningful way
-> Solid implementation of a standard space shooter in a short time, is impressive.
Wow allan, just wow.
You managed to do so many things just in 2 days, i really like your game and i am going to keep it on my pc, i would be interested if it is possible to do a cooperation.
Keep it up!
@johnyf , Thanks, maybe you can give me your twitter

Awesome game! I'm around your age, and I have a passion for game development too! This game was really well made, the parallax scrolling effect with the stars is a really nice touch! Only a few issues. At times, it was hard to find the shop, maybe make it a bit more obvious where it is so that the player doesn't get lost searching. Also, in the end I ran out of enemies to kill and I ended up just sitting there doing nothing until I inevitably ran out of space. Maybe just make it an automatic lose state when there are no more enemies to kill. Also, in the final moments you can see the edges of the square and the space past it. Maybe would have been better if that didn't happen and the screen just faded to white when you ran out of space. It was a lot of fun and fit the theme well, I got through almost 5 waves! Great job!
great job! blown away especially by the music!! keep with it, hope to see your work in future LDs!
Pretty fun to play! A really nice and enjoyable space shooter. :D
Yoooooooooooooooooooooo this is really fun, especially for someone as young as you! Keep at it, as you get older and rack more XP you're gonna make truly cool stuff. I was impressed by the parallax star field. Combat was fun and it was nice to find more loots in space, you put in quite a bit for the time you had. My one gripe is that the power up options like the extra triangle and spinny gun didn't carry from mission to mission. Otherwise, A+++
liked the progression and power ups you could collect from the chests! It restarted me when it went all black and said click scroll wheel to continue at one point so I assumed I beat it?
-saw your response, ahh okay.
liked the different type of enemies, though they were all pretty easy to kill- just fly away and shoot and repeat. could be cool to see enemies force you to fly in a certain pattern or so if you continue working on it. Keep up the good work!
@aeveis if it goes black and tells you to restart, then that means you have died or ran out of fuel
Liked it quite a lot as there was always something new to it. Here's my experience as moving images: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLytdAQ0Ig4 :)
