LD42 — Running out of space

Flesh Packer by nervous-composers 2018-08-14T14:24:42Z

Unfortunately I won't be able to vote, due to my short attention span I lose the focus fast on text-based games...

I wish I had played it to check your entry.

Do you mind to give feedback to our game anyway? (It’s a platformer, I don’t know if you like the genre but it is important for me to have feedback from player who like and dislike it). The link to it is on my profile, I won't post to avoid spam.

Cheers!

Escape 2600 by cenullum 2018-08-14T14:01:47Z

First of all, you made a game icon, such attention to details (pretty rare in LD)! That's great :)

(for some reason I'm not being able to comment with images so I'll post where I've stopped right next to this comment)

Nice idea and it is very humorous, I wish I had payed more attention to my computer science classes. Let me give your game some criticism:

• I love when games have playing transitions, from platformer's to inside an helicopter where you can see the lava floating is great

• I've missed the theme in your game, I know lava is going up, but that's not really notable imo

• The gameplay and niche is really "programming-focused" I think that could be an intro difficult for those who are not used to it.

In overall, good job! That's nice that you made it far, I wish I could progress more in your game, but for that I'd need to use an external hex to binary tool, which I didn't want.

Do you mind to give feedback to our game as well? (It’s a platformer, I don’t know if you like the genre but it is important for me to have feedback from player that like and dislike it) (:

(It’s on my profile, I’ll not post link to avoid spam)

Balls Deep In Lava by BlueMirror 2018-08-14T23:22:40Z

Hey there, good job with the game! Since you asked for it, I'll roast your game (:

At first glance I thought it would be a "letter soup game" and unfortunately it really is. By that I mean that your game art aesthetics isn't similar. There is a lot of shadow in some things, in others flat colors, the font has nothing to do with the game itself. Looks like you have give a piece of paper to everyone in the room and told them to draw something. They did, each pieces are really good separated, but when you put them altogether it is a mess.

But lets critique your specific points:

• Gameplay loop is effective, but not engaging. At first points your game plays well, because it is new and interesting, but it loses effectiveness as it progress due to lack of curiosity. At the round 3 I thought: "Okay that's all I'm going to have there is no point to continue playing it"

• The colors are oversaturated. Looks so intense and bright, unless that is intended I'd suggest to use less saturated colors. Same applies to your Itchio page. I can't even read the link on the description.

• Art style isn't consistent

• Lack of shadow make the player feels floaty. That's okay to add a little bit of shadow below him.

• Melee hit stop players from moving. It ruins the hectic feel of the game. Let him move, there is no difference to it.

• Layer fight on Meteors. At later stages, your meteor/explosion things are overlapping each other, and every time I fire they swap who is in front of what. A bit annoying.

• You don't need to show the countdown every new round, since there is no really time, and it is just unnecessary stuff on screen. Use screen wisely. A new round is good to know, but the countdown each time can be teach to the player organically. As soon as he sees a new round he'll know that there is a break of almost 3 seconds to he breath.

• Melee is bad. At least there is no point that I've could find to use it wisely. If I use, I take damage, if I get hit I take damage too.

• There is no point on the grenade. It will explode and consume gameplay space even if I destroy it or not. It could be used as a counterflow item, if you keep shooting at a shadow dropping it will explode, if not it will not consume your map space.

• Spawn points felt it had some default places after sometime playing it, if they are not random it would be a nice touch.

• Lack replayability, since your game is only this, I miss something to keep me playing. Powerups, different enemies, multiple kills, item interactions. I know it's a jam, but I'm not judging you from what you did, but what you could do.

• The font is hard to read as well, maybe adding an outline/stroke would make it better, but the style isn't consistent.

I've quit at round 10. Hope my feedback can be useful to you.

In case you continue to develop your game let me know! I'd love to see your progress, my info is on my LD profile.

Hey there, good job with the game! I'm giving feedback considering that you're going to continue developing it.

Nice work developing a lot of stuff for this game. But also be careful with it. Let's get into your critique:

• The audio is great! Music is really thematic and make you dive into the game world. As enemies reactions as well. Good job, for future references I'd advise to adjust the volumes a little bit (:

• The controls are not reliable. The controls scheme doesn't fit the game, and the movement feels delayed. For either movements or attack. This is very important since the character interaction is the core stuff in your game.

• Animations were well made! The character can interact slider with pieces of the environment, makes you feel inside your game, that neat!

• Theme was adopted, but not really explored. It felt like more of a reskin of a random game.

• Since the controls felt weird, after my failure I didn't want to play again. I've played for ~3min

In overall you guys did a great job for a jam entry, a lot of details were covered. The player HUD is a bit hard to see due to it's placement and complexity, but nothing that couldn't be easily fixed.

In case you continue to develop your game let me know! I'd love to see your progress, my info is on my LD profile.

Do you mind to give feedback to our game as well? (It’s a platformer, I don’t know if you like the genre but it is important for me to have feedback from player who like and dislike it). The link to it is on my profile, I won't post to avoid spam.

ZombieEnclosure by bovandenberg 2018-08-15T21:03:48Z

Hey there, good job with the game! I'm giving feedback considering that you're going to continue developing it.

My favorite part so far was the menu! The animation remind me 'Bind of Isaac'. Pretty nice.

But let's get into some criticism: • Be careful with "outside world" spawns. I died to a zombie that I couldn't see, feels frustrating.

• Interact more with your player. It lacks interaction. You don't need to go far to achieve this, maybe a block that you could push somewhere to protected yourself and block zombies path would be great.

• Music is great, congratulations. But it doesn't feel like it is part of the game.

That's all I can say. I've played for around ~2 minutes, die twice.

In case you continue to develop your game let me know! I'd love to see your progress, my info is on my LD profile.

Mass Coalesce by Jumpander 2018-08-14T14:17:45Z

Hello there! Your aesthetics were looking great!

I wish your web playable were working, it would give more attention for those who doesn't have Windows as OS.

But let's get to your game criticism: • You've made an icon, a nice intro, a menu with instructions which is great! Every tiny of those details put you into the mood of the game.

• Nice music, a little bit loud compared to the others that I've played so far. I'd like to recommend playing a video on a comfortable volume and set your initial value to a volume that you're comfortable with

• You've add lore, giving some context, nice touch

• The player movement/jump feels really slow and not realiable

• Should be great to have feedback

• I'd try it out more times, but the lore menu showing up everytime drains some energy of the replayability.

• The enemy hit feedback should be more visible if he dies or just is pushed away.

Well that's all I have to say since I didn't progress far. (for some reason I'm not being able to comment with images so I'll post where I've stopped right next to this comment)

Good job with it!! In case you continue to develop your game let me know! I'd love to see your progress! My info is on my LD profile!

Get Off My Boat, You! by Eric Kulbiej 2018-08-14T13:42:37Z

The sounds are really great, haha, how did you do the boat engine?!

I REALLY enjoyed the controls, the thing you spin to control the boat (Idk what this is called) is really part of the game, so it is realistic and immersive, congratulations

I'm trying to upload my quitting point image progress (So you can have an idea where I left your game) but looks like I can't, sorry about that

Let's get into your game criticism:

• It is really immersive: The boat controls and the sound makes you really be part of the game.

• The score screen breaks that feeling

• I like the idea of limited boat cap, fits the theme, well done.

• The way you score isn't really obvious on the game

• The rotation feels weird (since you're rotating the entire boat) I saw you used unity, so it's great that I can give you a suggestion if you don't mind. Create an empty object as child of the boat and put the boat sprite there. Then you move it slightly behind, so when you rotate the boat looks like you're rotating the front part, and not the entire boat at once!

Good job finish the game! :v: I really liked it and I recommend everyone to play it again listening to Tokyo Drift ♫

Do you mind to give feedback to our game as well? (It’s a platformer, I don’t know if you like the genre but it is important for me to have feedback from player that like and dislike it) (:

Party Simulator by KotoriYousan 2018-08-14T17:21:14Z

Heyaa, nice game! My feedback is considering that you're going to continue developing it.

Nice art, really liked it!

Let's get into critique:

• Well use of the theme, did a good job!

• The game concept is interesting, as you have to read and take decisions as fast as possible while need to think. It reminds me a part of "Emily Is Away 2". It is worth to check it out a video about it.

• The text went out of the balloon, making them hard to read. As you are using Unity I can suggest you to take a look on the UI Anchors guide on Unity page.

• You really can't lose or win, it stills roleplay imo, where you give yourself mini challenges.

That's all about your game that I can say, hope that can be useful to you!

In case you continue to develop your game let me know! I'd love to see your progress, my info is on my LD profile.

Beyond Space by Allan Kong 2018-08-14T14:36:27Z

Hey, good job with your entry!

The feedback I'm giving is considering that you're going to continue developing this and are suggestions from first time playing it.

Let's get into your game criticism:

• I like the multiple enemies and the way you arranged them, that's great! Good job!

• The moving sound is very repetitve

• You can easily get yourself "lost", the map isn't really reliable cause there is too much thing, just zoomed out, and it is hard to see. Since you've used unity I can give you a suggestion. The camera rendering the map can only capture Enemy/Market/Player using layers, and you can put a background color behind it, it'd make the game easier to track yourself...

• The 3-layer(?) parallax is really well made, so I can have a nice sense of movement in space, which is nice. But aside of that I'd make the player movement faster or scalable.

Since I didn't manage to play for a long time, that's all feedback I can give. Hope that can be useful for you.

In case you continue to develop your game let me know! I'd love to see your progress, my info is on my LD profile.

Crumble by anstabo 2018-08-14T14:51:25Z

Hey, nice game! I didn't managed to survive but here we go with feedback:

• It's hard to make a game during a jam, even more to polish it, even more to optimize it. Forget about the performance issues, at least for now, you guys did a great job!

• I wish I was able to look at the top, having an assist to audio using my sight would be better to survive.

• The UI looks great

• Even if you didn't the audio, it was a nice pick, fits the game

• it is fun and challenging

(I'd advise removing the web version build, since the players are most likely to experience a more lag version of your game)

In case you continue to develop your game let me know! I'd love to see your progress, my info is on my LD profile.

Collapse by Gulfick 2018-08-14T17:02:30Z

Hey there, good job with the game! "please don’t press “E” when you falling" classic LD warning (:

I'm giving feedback considering that you're going to continue developing it. Most users play the original jam version, I'm playing the fixed one because I want to give useful advice (:

• Increase Player's drag. It feels too much slippery (3D)

• Interesting concept about switching 2D and 3D, I think you can get really nice ideas to play with it

• I've missed audio, even if you couldn't make you could add it copyright free to make the game feel more alive. Good sources to it if you don't know are OpenGameArt/Incompetech/Newgrounds and Unity Asset store as well. Since you're out of the voting category I imagine you've missed it as well.

Unfortunately I got stuck on a very early stage (maybe), and that's all feedback I can give, sorry for it.

Escape from space by Dodeca 2018-08-14T13:29:49Z

Screenshot_1.png

Hey there, congratulations! Nice job finishing the game

I think I had a bug (couldn't skip that screen - I think I pressed warp during it iirc), but it is ludumdare, it happens. Okay let's get to the criticism:

• I really like the music, since you're participating the Music rating, I'd imagine you did it yourself, which is awesome. I could listen to this the whole day!

• The movement lack move feel. I think if you add a parallax background would help a lot to feel your spaceship flying, since that is the majority of your game I think that can improved.

In overall, good job! If you continue this game, let me know (my infos are on my ld profile). Do you mind to give feedback to my game as well? (It's a platformer, I don't know if you like the genre but it is important for me to have feedback from player that like and dislike it) (:

The Legend of Cactus by Astericon 2018-08-14T16:32:55Z

Hey there, good job with the game! I'm giving feedback considering that you're going to continue developing this game.

First of all, I've never saw the hold R to reload, it is really nice, because if you press it unintuitively you don't reset the game (I'll copy it to my games as well, haha)..

You for sure used BoI as inspiration, but be careful with it if taking it forward. Try to use another thematic instead.

Let's get to your criticism:

• The player is slow. Comparing the player and map sizes it feels really tedious to move player around. Improving the velocity would make it more hectic fun and easier to play.

• I like the way it the bomb blocks the map, using the actual level layout it turns out that you need to be a very strategic shooter.

• The enemies could change to display damage. I don't know if I can kill multiple enemies with a single bomb or not, so I don't know if that is a valid strategy. Players likes to feel that they are in control of what they are doing, try to make it as clear as possible

That's all from what've played. Good job finishing it. Are your levels infinite? I couldn't tell.

In case you continue to develop your game let me know! I'd like to see your progress, my info is on my LD profile.

(I think that can help you to have a sense of progress your players usually take).

Wow Will! Loved your entry. I'd give you some criticism but I'm so impressed with your entry that I swear to you that I can't find a way to criticize. I loved it, thanks for surprising me.

The puzzles were hard for me but I'm tired after the jam, and they're what I expect them to be, so that's fine.

Not a great feedback but I hope that helps!

If you have time, please check my profile and give me some constructive feedback on my game (:

EDIT: One thing that I can think of is this type of puzzle requires you to have time to think, and when the baby moves you can't think at all, so it becomes inconsistent. It puts an enormous amount of pressure on the player.

jumpgolf by torcado 2020-04-20T03:04:43Z

Heyo Torc! (:

So, a little bit of feedback!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope etc, but as always I’ll give feedback considering you’ll work on it after the jam.

Could’ve been better: - Lack of dopamine. I play your game but I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere, my objective/role in this game isn't clear - Lack of movement/animations/eye candy. Since the world is very still there's nothing to "distract" me or something that I can enjoy while climbing. Be it a moving platform (I didn't get very far), animations, flags, environmental changes, etc. - I missed some music to listen while playing - No "relax dude you won't lose any progress after this"/checkpoints, falling from a high-place was what made me quit

Good points: - It's cute, nice art - Sound effects are great

I feel like this could be improved a lot by adding something to motivate the player. Be it showing the top and panning the camera to where you are, or a height counter of how far you got, small collectibles or mini flags/holes that you get on your way to the top. The question of where should I get to or how long is it going to take was prominent in my head.

Hope that helps, and if you happen to update this game, drop me a tweet or something!

If you have time, please click on my profile and give me some constructive feedback on my game (:

Whale Dive by vilcans 2020-04-20T04:02:37Z

Heyo vilcans!

Loved the whale dive, I wasn't expecting an atari submission, but this was great. I'm not from the Atari age but I've played a lot of atari games on emulators when I was a younger. I really like the feel of the game, the speed sense increasing while the whale falls is great.

I'm not sure how to properly handle this feedback because this game was completely unexpected for me, oops. But that's great, you did great with your innovation and the game's atmosphere (:

The design was a bit unforgiving, but being able to explore different levels without the requirement to beat the previous one was great, so I was able to take a look at your game! I'd have more levels and facilitate the design a little bit so it wouldn't require an extreme amount of skill.

Hope that helps, and if you happen to update this game, come back here in your comment section to remember me and drop me a tweet or something!

Heyo uvwar!

So, a little bit of feedback!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope etc, but as always I’ll give feedback considering you’ll work on it after the jam.

Could’ve been better: - It's pretty unclear how to game work from within the game - Lack of visual and sound feedback for every interaction to the game (except for the particles when the crystal breaks) - The goal is unclear - Hard to control - Music loop is really short, which makes the loop very noticeable

Good points: - Nice color scheme - Idea seems to be great, even if the execution didn't

Heyo Wyatt!

So, a little bit of feedback!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope etc, but as always I’ll give feedback considering you’ll work on it after the jam.

Could’ve been better: - Sound Effects to complement my actions - Some pieces I couldn't rotate the way I wanted (e.g. the triangle with 1 space in-between) - I Didn't feel rewarded for completing the game, I feel like it could've led me to a victory screen or something like this

Good points: - Balancing is great! The challenges felt like they were in the right amount to the skill I had at each level of the game - Particle effects and a lot of eye candy - Context & drawings to set the game's fantasy - Nice music (there was an option to export as a loop in LMMS tho, haha)

Heyo Hayden!

So, a little bit of feedback!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope etc, but as always I’ll give feedback considering you’ll work on it after the jam.

Also somehow the game crashed when I was smashing the button to kill the evil dude.

Could’ve been better: - More interactions, like setting a tree on fire, or killing the guy and burning him with the torch - As you know, if your engine had audio it'd be great - A little bit of player-driven strategy, like making another fire to move to trees nearby

Good points: - Nice art - Lovely environment mood - Great mechanic of revealing dangers, the torch was also a nice mechanic to support the bonfire.

Hope that helps, and if you happen to update this game, come back here in your comment section to remember me and drop me a tweet or something!

The first experience with the game was really confusing, I was trying to build lines as Tetris since this was the concept I had in my mind for the aesthetics of your game. - The new level SFX doesn't sound like a victory, so I always thought I lost the level because I reached the line, and the game restarted. - A tutorial would be great, and by tutorial I mean anything that slowly teaches you how to play giving you room for error. You probably have more batteries later on, but it was still a bunch of info to understand and retain.

Good points: - Web build, so I don't have to download anything, yay - Nice audio - Nice art

I mostly stopped of playing it because I didn't understand. As advice try to avoid the lack of understanding of how your game work, you're probably aware of that, otherwise you wouldn't write the how to play and hint section. But yeah, that’s it!

Hope that helps, and if you happen to update this game, come back here in your comment section to remember me and drop me a tweet or something!

Heyo xel!

So, here's a little bit of feedback!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope etc, but as always I’ll give feedback considering you’ll work on it after the jam.

Could’ve been better: - Battle music is too short, the loop becomes really noticeable - Grinding is really boring, and it makes the game feel like a task, instead of a challenge that I want to overcome - Apparently the answer you pick doesn't matter, since most of the answers are similar with different wordiness - A lot of hand-holding and explanations, instead of just letting the player explore, showing "the key before the lock". That makes me reading the text more as obligation instead of I'm curious of what this means. I'd make that optional.

Good points: - The art is amazing - Overall atmosphere and the dialogues are really fun!!!! - The lobby music is amazing

Hope that helps, and if you happen to update this game, come back here in your comment section to remember me and drop me a tweet or something!

Heyo Lawrence!

So, a little bit of feedback!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope etc, but as always I'll give feedback considering you'll work on it after the jam.

Could've been better: - The lack of audio broke the immersion, a few sound effects during the game's interaction would be great - The ordering of movement isn't clear when fighting a bat, I don't know which one attacks first or if the bat can attack me or not - The first level with 3 crates has a lot of unnecessary walk that could've been shrunk. Keep your puzzles as minimal as possible, so the player doesn't get tired of moving. - The level where is necessary to deliver one guy at a time, could've been presented in a simpler way first, to avoid the frustration at the end of a lengthy puzzle. - The amount of levels is unknown, which would make the last level to actually be my last (if there were others). Since I didn't know how many levels left that one felt like a burden instead of excitement to be almost beating the game.

Good points: - Dungeon's atmosphere is present with the art style and post processing fx - The puzzle design is very straightforward and easy to learn - Nice animations - Nice amount of levels considering the time

That's it! Hope that helps, and if you happen to update this game, come back here in your comment section to remember me and drop me a tweet or something!

Thanks for letting me know, I was playing the html5, somehow the audio didn't start when I played it. But already updated the ratings (it worked when I opened it again) (:

Perish alive by Lyrcaxis 2020-05-07T17:10:11Z

my criticism on this game: - It has a non-intuitive UI, which makes difficult to navigate, check units' status and has a lot of micro management (I don't know if you have automation later, didn't get to this point) - The game felt a bit rushed, the aesthetics of it gives me a chill vibe while the enemy waves are fast contradicting it - during the first experience, it doesn't give me much time to understand and get used to the progression system and keep pressuring the player

my advice for it would be: - stretch out the gameplay a bit more, give more time between waves and some extra time for the player to learn. - don't move buttons, since your UI is in world space and the camera follows the mouse, making it static while you interact with UI could help

I really like the relationship between the resources, it felt quite balanced to me

I know it is a jam, but I like to give open feedback regardless the situation, take what you find useful feel free to ignore what's left

Hope that helps, congrats for making it (:

Place me back by Nyunesu 2020-04-20T22:14:41Z

@vilcans Thanks for the feedback!

The strings actually don't affect your movement, they're one extra layer of interaction when the heart bumps into a wall.

The source code is within the itch.io page, so both game and source share the same link (:

It's Not Rocket Science by Gallahron 2020-04-20T15:53:32Z

Heyo Gallahron!

So, here's some more feedback!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope etc, but as always I’ll give feedback considering you’ll work on it after the jam.

Could’ve been better: - Gameplay feels rushed, everything moves too fast and the game ends too quickly when getting the gasp out of the controls. Probably tuning the variables down before the player get to experience the game would be great - There's a lot of information going on as soon as I start, and again, not much time to understand each element - Highlighting the ship on start to show exactly where you should drag would be cool - Lack of audio makes the game "less immersive" - Increasing the field of view would also make it more based on strategic instead of reflexes

Overall it's just presenting your game slowly, it's really cool to play once you get to know the game.

Good points: - great nice orbit mechanic - minimalist visuals are great (I'd decrease the saturation and increase the value a little bit, but that's my personal taste)

Hope that helps, and if you happen to update this game, drop me a message on discord or twitter, and I'll be happy to give you more feedback!

If you have time, please give me some constructive feedback on my game, vote, etc (:

See ya!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

The Looppy by asfdfdfd 2020-10-10T22:13:13Z

Hey there!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope, etc, but I’m giving feedback assuming you would keep working in the game.

Could’ve been better:

- How many bones were available to be collected - Luggage shapes don't convey that you can't go across then visually, in that case box-shaped luggage would communicate it better - Display clearly that the game has come to an end state

Good points:

- Incorporated menu is always a plus! It helps settings the game mood, congrats on that (: - Achievement systems UI looks great (although would be interesting to know what achievement I didn't get) - Nicely scoped, right size for a jam and you were able to deliver it

Overall it's an interesting game, easy to learn and play. It'd be cool to see more puzzle variations or things as simple as alternated conveyor belts.

I hope that is useful! Don't forget to like my comment in case it was helpful ♥

If you can, click on my profile and leave some constructive feedback on my game as well (:

Thank you <3

Roundabout Way by Quandtm 2020-10-09T18:35:25Z

Hey there!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope, etc, but I'm giving feedback assumming you would keep working in the game.

Could've been better: - Accessibility things such as adding UI controls with the same input you use for the game - Gameplay variety: such as different levels layouts - Customization: Choosing your car color before you play - Floating UI arrow is not well communicated, kinda confusing and hard to understand at first

Good points: - Working with gamepad, that's cool - Scope size the project is short and sweet - Easily understandable, quick to learn and play

Did you guys model everything and made all music? That's impressive. The track is really cool, congrats Tad!

If my comment was helpful, don't forget to like it! ... and if you can, open my profile page and leave feedback on our game as well <3

Thanks for the experience you provided with your game!

Permit A-39 by kirroyal 2020-10-10T22:03:29Z

Hey there!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope, etc, but I’m giving feedback assuming you would keep working in the game.

Could’ve been better:

- Controls could be easily be simplified

Right now you don't have any overlapping stairs, elevator and/or counters. So the controls can be simplified to:

- A/D - Movement - E - Enter Stairs/Elevator/Door

- It's not clear how you traverse from one side to the other, since there's no visible connection between elements.

- Camera movement is too sudden, smoothing/lerp it out can fix the problem (:

Good points:

- Lunareffect I loved the track! - The game concept scope seems to be about right

Just try to communicate the interactions within the game elements so it can be understandable out a glance. Remember the principle of "form follows function" and you guys should be good.

e.g.:

- Elevators only move up and down, so adding a floor displayer on top of the elevator indicating the current floor + arrow would solve the problem of getting lost while doing that. - Apartment doors signs could tell where the doors would lead to, etc...

I hope that is useful! Don't forget to like my comment in case it was helpful ♥

If you can, click on my profile and leave some constructive feedback on my game as well (:

Thank you <3

Chroma Clones by DarcyTimms 2020-10-09T20:26:52Z

Hey there!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope, etc, but I'm giving feedback assuming you would keep working in the game.

Could've been better: - Cursor is hard to see due to its color, so you usually lose the sight, would be better to have something with a higher contrast - "Show the lock before you show the key" - you often show text explaining something that we didn't do before, or as we are about to do it. It's sometimes good to let go of the players hand and let them learn by experimentation or don't tell them what to do right away. - There are a few game-breaking conditions such as getting stuck inside portals or self-trapping that could be fixed by code or level design

Good points: - In-game tutorial is always appreciated - Clever record gameplay (if you can look at an old flash game called Cursor * 10, it is really cool in that context)

If you have time, please click on my profile and give me some constructive feedback on my game (:

Thanks <3

Boulder Rush by SaraMartins 2022-04-10T00:27:44Z

:eye: :lips: :eye: what have I just witnessed -- Love your cutscenes (didn't realize I could skip them until it was too late)

Theme is quite present, but the gameplay was a bit too hard for me -- I personally thinks it lacks some room for error or forgiveness but that's up to your design intention (:

Piggy Pileup by candlesan 2022-04-05T15:43:56Z

Hey Wyatt, nice game!

It's a shame I couldn't join you on stream this edition, I was working ina. team this time so it was a bit hard (:

Even for a non-native english speaker it's a nice loop (my countless days of Wordle served their purpose)

Main mechanic is fun, nice aesthetics.

Bounce is a bit too strong when you try to catch the ball but let's say that's a motor skill challenge to surpass.

I'd love to have a core way of mixing things up on the left and right most sides, if your bottom is letter-stuck it gets very hard.

---

Thanks again for the game, and as always if you can, please check out my submission as well - I'd love to see your take on it. Most of the balancing techniques came from watching you doing yours, so your feedback would be very valuable!

See ya then, bye!

Whispers Of The Heart by landosilva 2022-04-10T00:20:15Z

Hey, you guys nailed the mood and atmosphere! The controls were very unreliable to me, so it was a bit frustrating to play, specially with the bad thoughts -- although, isn't that how every game works when your mind is troubled?

Carrot by Loic Blumgi 2022-04-10T00:13:48Z

Hey Loic, nice entry! It was a bit confusing to me to understand how the game worked at first, if there were a win condition or not, or how I'd interact with the game e.g. How does my dash affects the ball, what is the purpose of the space button etc.

I love the art but you already know that :P

My advice would be working on the sign and feedbacks part of the game for future entries (: Here's a cool article if you want to take a look

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Goal and Crossbones by SkullPixel 2018-04-25T14:43:29Z

Fun little game that could be expanded into something amazing.

Strong points:

-Solid mechanics.

-Nice and consistent art.

-Potential for a lot of different levels.

Suggestions to improve:

-None! You should really continue this project. :)

PE@CE by bwalter 2018-04-25T04:20:04Z

Amazing job!

Loved the ASCII theme and adventure feel, well done.

P.S. I got stuck on a door, came back from a door that required a key and couldn't get back. :/

Tetratower by kokirisandfriends 2018-04-25T15:13:46Z

One of the best applications of the theme I've seen so far!

Strong points:

-Perfect usage of the theme.

-Beautiful graphics.

-Innovative gameplay.

Suggestions to improve:

-It was pretty common to have a "tunnel" were the enemies could go through all my defenses. It would be really nice if the gravity worked on all blocks, maybe.

Well done!

The Cards You're Dealt by Raindrinker 2018-04-25T04:03:54Z

Solid game!

Realy liked the concept and would love to see this expanded.

My favorite parts: -Solid gameplay. -Fun strategy theme. -Diferent ways to play even with small set of cards.

Suggestions: -Moaaar card types. -Some explanation on the cards themselves, the chess pieces were predictable but I had no idea what the rest did before trying.

Well done!
