LD38 — A Small World

liftoff by Remco 2017-08-14T03:21:10Z

Another great work from you :) The graphics were cool, and the sound was great. The controls were a little bit hard for me, but I think it fits the gameplay. Overall, I really liked, and was made as a compo, which shows your hard work. Congratulations!

(Also, sorry for the sooo late response, I thank you so much for having played Planktos. Back then in LD 38, real life got in the way and I never managed to come back and vote and participate. Thank you for having enjoyed Planktos and taking the time to write us a comment :) )

LD39 — Running out of Power

Tax Rebel by LeReveur 2017-08-11T20:26:59Z

Wow this was a simple game but sooo clever. So clever! The search algorithm, the pathfinding, amazing! Amazing application of AI. That allows it to be ported to smartphones really easily, you just need yourself some cool art and bam! Also missed sounds, but with AI who can blame you for not having the time? Overall really clever, simple and tricky gameplay that complemet eachother really well. Congratulations, great job! Let me know when you release it on Google Play ;)

Electro Evac by Remco 2017-08-14T03:11:48Z

This was a really fun game, with a good concept. I had fun playing and also just moving stuff for the sake of having fun :P The power lanes were a really cool mechanic. Amazing entry, and made as a compo. Congratulations on such a great job!

SPHEER by Split82 2017-08-09T04:49:04Z

Wow. Just loved it. Amazing graphics, ambience, lighting and sound effects, everything. Great puzzles, I just wished it had more! Please make more levels after the jam, your game is great!

WrongWay by Geckoo1337 2017-08-06T16:24:49Z

Wow really nice! Super simple looks but they match the game, that ends up looking futuristic. Really loved the pace, although I'm not too good at it. But too slow would kill the mood. I suppose you generate the level procedurally, which is really cool. Just thought that the player being a cuve was a tad simplistic, but can't really put my finger in what could be a good model. The play with the theme was also great. All in all, really fun!

Space Rover by wdebowicz 2017-08-07T20:50:38Z

Wow that was amazing. Great fit in the theme, great idea, really interesting environment and so clever the use of the sound effects! Really liked the ambience, the exploration and everything really. Congratulations!

Portals and Boxes by Luis Giron 2017-08-15T14:42:15Z

Really interesting game, fun and a good concept. It's really challenging, maybe you can expand the game later increasing the difficulty gradually, as one commenter already suggested. The art and the sound was really cool.

When restarting the level the robot was kept in the same place, not going to the beginning. Also, the X button is so near of A, D and between them and Space bar... Wasn't really easy to use.

All in all cute game, good job :)

Station 5723: Reactor Down by Archimagus 2017-08-09T04:34:13Z

Really nice game, great environment, good puzzles and not too difficult. It was really enjoyable. I only missed an indicator of when the mouse was interacting with stuff or unable to. The mouse was always the same colour and gave no feedback, so I didn't even notice when I turned off the purple stream, just saw it later and it must have been when I was clicking around. Other than that, great job!

Xenocide by benjamin 2017-08-06T16:01:34Z

Great art, it really matched the game! Sad there's only sound and no music, it could be a great combination. The game is difficult, yet fun, however I didn't get the relation of the game with the theme... I did have much fun playing it, great work!

Is Your Refrigerator Running? by urbanhelsing 2017-08-07T20:16:50Z

Interesting game but too difficult with the bug that turned into a feature. After falling so many times because the movement of the refrigerator did not accompany the platform, I felt bored and could not keep playing. Which is sad because the game looked to have potential and humour, with a groovy beat. Hope to see a post jam version in which you maybe try to fix the bug ;)

REAMS by CameronPenner 2017-08-07T21:06:14Z

Great game! Loved the atmosphere and the enemies did scare me a couple of times :p Keep up the good work!

Runic Forest by tjakka5 2017-08-09T15:14:12Z

Amazing art, really liked the combination of the voice and music with the style of the game, not just using 8-bit sound to go with the pixel art. It was interesting when starting but it quickly became to run and jump from the enemies and click G. Also, the spell casting keys were too close to WASD, with no option for the arrows to function, which made it weird having my hands next to each other. Also the instructions said hold G to heal, which isn't the case.

It looks like it can have potential and has amazing environment, but jumping and casting spells with G made it feel a little bit dull. Also, not being able to choose to which enemy I want to cast the spell ended up taking life of enemies that had more life and maintaining the number around me instead of being able to finish the desired enemy and have more space to not be killed. Good work nevertheless :)

Shutdown by mahalis 2017-08-07T02:45:11Z

OMG I just loved your game! Loved the polygons and colours, the whole generated feeling it had, the cool groovy music and the neons, it was just amazing and a nice fit to the theme. Congratulations!

Orcs in Space by atridas 2017-08-06T15:51:57Z

It was a really well made game, with nice art that reminded me of Commander Keen. At first it's a little bit difficult, but trying more times allows you to get better. Unfortunately it gave some errors when I opened the game, about not having Vulkan and OpenAL, so I couldn't hear any sound. But it was fun and the lack of sound didn't make it any less better ;)

Power Outage by keckles 2017-08-09T05:07:08Z

Interesting game, a little bit hard to control while controlling the flashlight, but very nice concept. I got stuck on some parts of the floor while trying to walk, managing only to advance by jumping (they weren't platforms). The character also appeared behind some of the wall stairs' indicators. Improving the controls and checking the floor will surely make it even better! :)

Tunnel Bad Trip by bellatrion 2017-08-17T14:45:59Z

Simple and cool game! I really liked shooting the enemies, entering the vehicle, lots of mechanics that complemented each other. I just felt it was a bit difficult to control the car's cannon, but controls are something that can be easily changed ;) The animations were also quite nice, and the art too. The music really pumped me. I just missed maybe a menu or an indication, because when you die you respawn quickly at the beginning :P Overall cool game, good job :)

GLOW by abductedPlatypus 2017-08-15T05:13:27Z

Amazing game, loved the mood and experience! Great minimalist art, nice complementing music that didn't disrupt the gameplay, and very clever gameplay. I just missed being able to use the Arrows in addition to WASD :P but that doesn't take away from the experience. Hope you are able to think and maybe turn this into a bigger game and release it. Great job!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-05T04:08:05Z

Hey @benjamin, thank you for playing! Actually, if you move your mouse up, you can check the moon and how much time you have :) Maybe you can give it another try to check it out? Also, we had a bug with the exit, which we corrected. Let me know if you play it again, and thank you so much for playing it!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-06T13:03:58Z

@poffle Thank you so much for playing the game. Based on your feedback, we tried to improve the lighting and the maze limits. Thank you!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-06T15:20:03Z

Hi @hs-dave, thank you for playing our game. Yes, we're working to improve the lighting, we hope to get it more noticeable where the player is. Thank you so much for your feedback :)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-06T15:20:26Z

Thank you so much @orcdraco!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-06T17:07:33Z

@player2point0 @essel @geckoo1337 Thank you so much for your feedback! We'll keep trying to improve based on your comments! :)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-06T17:10:07Z

@atridas @dino-jr @enot487 Thank you so much! I'm glad you were captivated by the ambience, we were really going for the mysterious tone :)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-07T01:29:04Z

Thank you so much @elizabeth-thomas! We were aiming for difficulty when seeing and just trying to pinpoint the light, trying not to be just a maze game. The goofy guy at the end is indeed a twist :P Thank you!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-07T01:33:18Z

Thank you for your feedback @tuomo. The camera panning up was not to see the maze but rather to see how much time you have left by looking at the moon passing through the sun. The story wasn't the objective for us to define, we were more aiming to mythical significance and a mysterious character/actions. However we will sure think how could we add story and keep these points we wanted. Thank you so much for playing!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-07T02:14:43Z

Thank you so much @brolton, @sagarpatel25700, @mahalis, @theflyingkeyboard and @cursetats! :)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-07T02:38:52Z

Don't worry @kpded! We were going more with a theme and experience with this one, so we didn't focus much on the mechanics aside from the chore one. We also did start late and had to work monday, so we didn't have much time. However maybe for a post jam version we can try to figure out more mechanics into this game, we will definitely try to think about it! Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback ;)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-07T10:33:40Z

Thank you so much @silkworm-sweatshop! Yeah the little guy ended up being a tiny bit derpy :P Yeah we were aiming more for the mood. Yeah, it's the same, we had no time to implement more, but we'd like to. Yeah it is just one maze, I guess we didn't make that clear... Maybe we will look into. Thank you for enjoying!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-07T10:46:37Z

I'm glad you liked it @kiirohanabi! Thank you so much for playing!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-07T11:13:56Z

Thanks @yetman! When the eclipse ends, you cease to exist, so you're running out of power, or existance. Thank you for playing!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-07T11:23:48Z

Thank you @sir-daniev! Yeah, one really starts to feel the pressure when the power of the eclipse is ending! Thank you for playing!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-07T20:43:49Z

Oh glad the arrow widget was helpful @joebeard! And glad you enjoyed playing it, thank you!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-07T20:45:32Z

Thank you @wbebowicz!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-08T11:59:46Z

@gamechoy Thank you for playing and your feedback :) We chose to focus more on mood instead of gameplay. Also the choice of having to follow a light was to make the gameplay a little bit more difficult, instead of just being traversing the maze.

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-08T12:01:57Z

@fwazle Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed ^^

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-09T05:09:39Z

I'm glad you enjoyed @pnghasemi :D Thank you for playing, and also for your suggestions, we will try and think how we could add some "surprises" to the maze that would fit the mood ;)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-09T15:16:53Z

Thanks @tjakka5, we focused more on the ambience and mood, leaving the game to be a pure maze. The rough sense of location is to turn that gameplay a little bit more hard, as being a simple maze, just traveersing it without a challenge would be too easy. Thank you for your feedback and playing it.

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-11T09:47:24Z

Thank you so much @pickens-inc! I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and the challenge in pinpointing your location :) Thank you for playing!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-11T09:52:46Z

Thank you for your feedback @mickeyg. Yeah the game was made as a mood experience with not a real focus on gameplay other than being a puzzle. However, you are wrong about the mouse angle change. It wasn't supposed to help you see the maze better. You didn't notice, but the moon walks in front of the sun. Slowly (matching the time we set for the level), but it does. When the moon exits the sun, the character loses its power and ceases to exist. So that is the real reason to switch back and forth, and it is really used for something gameplay related (as in checking how much time do you have left).

Thank you so much for playing :)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-11T09:54:54Z

Thank you @mr-madcat! Yeah, we wanted to make the credits in the end to make a little bit clear that the game ended, but we didn't have time, we had to work monday so we just finished the game on sunday and didn't get to change it. Thank you for playing!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-11T09:55:35Z

I'm glad you enjoyed it @meta-link, thank you for playing!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-11T20:32:01Z

Thank you so much @lereveur, I'm really glad you enjoyed it :) Yeah lose and win are definitely too much alike, we're not great animators and for the time we had we weren't able to expand and work on that. But it's definitely something we should change and we will try to improve it. Thank you for your suggestion ^^ And once again, thank you so much for playing!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-11T20:40:57Z

Thank you @oboshape, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-15T04:36:08Z

Thank you @valphera! Yeah, definitely something that needs to be changed. Thank you so much for having played and enjoyed it!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-15T04:37:03Z

@hav24 Thank you so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed it and liked the mood!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-15T04:42:13Z

@remco Due to the player being just a light, sometimes it is colliding with the walls already and one doesn't notice... That's the reason for the arrow system.

About meanings, I'm really glad it got you pondering, it definitely was one of our goals, make it about reflecting, feelings and mood, and maybe even about relating the little guy with the person who plays. Darkness gives and takes, maybe that's something I can say without taking you the experience of pondering :D

Thank you so much for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed :)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-15T04:44:24Z

Thank you @m-dam, but the visuals being unclear on the maze is part of trying to make it challenging, for being just a maze :P Thank you for playing!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-15T05:13:48Z

Thank you so much @abductedplatypus!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-15T05:16:47Z

Thank you @schizoid2k, the lighting really is tricky and something we are trying to think on how to improve to make the location a little bit more noticeable. Thank you so much for playing :)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-17T14:46:32Z

@bellatrion Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed playing :)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-17T14:49:18Z

@indiealchemist haha no problem, don't worry :P But the light getting weaker is a good idea, but I don't think is manageable unfortunately, people are already feeling it's too difficult with the amount/type of light right now :\

Thank you for your suggestion, and for playing!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-17T15:02:17Z

@vkmicro Thank you so much for playing, and for your comments.

Regarding the game being too dark: we know that the lighting of the character is a bit difficult, we are trying to improve that, but the countours of the maze are noticeable. I personally have my computer screen on the lowest setting of brightness, so I do understand what you're trying to say. However if the whole maze was more lighted it would be just a simple maze to go through, no real challenge, and even more boring gameplay wise. We did try to make a compromise between that, as I use my settings on lowest, and we felt that more light would break the challenge.

About running a game in full screen, I guess it's something about taste. We also felt that running the game windowed took away the immersion of the experience. Also, when you buy a game, it is a wide spread standard (with exceptions) to start on full screen. For this experience, it felt fitting for the mood.

Thank you again :)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-17T15:07:45Z

@jason200101 Yeah, the story was left as an interpretation, so the player could connect with the ambience, the actions and the metaphors. The power mechanic lies in the eclipse: as the time passes, the moon keeps passing in front of the sun. You only have power when the eclipse is happening, which is shown by the fact that when the eclipse ends, you lose and cease to exist.

About the story, we really meant it as an interpretation for the player, to make him feel and mauybe connect with the journey of the little guy. We do like metaphors. We are improving some animations for the winning and loosing, to tie the story, but having a backstory is not something we are planning to do.

Thank you so much for playing and for enjoying it :)

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-17T15:08:53Z

Thank you so much @belga54! Glad you liked it!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-17T15:26:24Z

Thank you so much @franfox. Yeah, the mechanic of the light was intended, however the keyboard indicators were added as a tool for help, not to replace the light on the maze that helps you traverse it. Thank you for playing.

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-19T02:10:38Z

@mspawa Thank you so much for playing and enjoying! Also, thanks for your suggestion, we've added a note near the controls ;)

Blackout for the new warden by dray 2017-08-17T15:57:01Z

Nice game, difficult at first with the big panel, but really interesting when you get your grip on it. Neat art also, just missed some music to complement the stressing situation :) Really fun, congratulations!

Guardian Stone by Mr.MadCat 2017-08-10T13:44:47Z

This was a cute game. It has a good story, cute graphics and lovely music. Great work!

Doki Doki Magica by Sir Daniev 2017-08-07T11:22:43Z

That was a really fun and simple game. The art was funny and cute at the same time, and I liked all of the animations, specially the girl's! That was detailed :) I also thought the big gilr boss was really manly xD Kinda funny. I also noticed the background with parallax, once again great attention to detail. It looks like a simple game but all these details show you put real effort into it. My only suggestion would be to find another font for the lettering, maybe a more mystical one, it would be really cool. Other than that, funny and interesting, great work!

Candy Wars by Jason200101 2017-08-17T15:20:44Z

Well this was interesting :P Really funny, and the sprites were insane, but fitting with the mood xD The music helped the mood too. I had fun making choices and progressing in the story, but I did feel that it could be nice to have a skip on the dialogues so they were faster when appearing. Funny game, you just need better art :P

Super Helpful Man: An Old Man Super Hero Handy Man Simulator by Poffle 2017-08-06T13:02:06Z

Hey, I just played your game. Here are some problems I found. - When I try to carry objects with the bag full, it tells me that and shows a number, 1043. Couldn't understand what that meant. - In spite of having put the subtitles in spanish, the speech subtitles were still in english, the tools when mouse over were still in english, and the text for combining tools was still in english. - I couldn't click on the Exit to Menu button, nothing happened. - I also dragged all of the music, sound and speech buttons, but all the sounds remained with the same volume. - The game appeared to me with red vertical bars on the side when on full screen. I think that might be your Camera's Solid Color Background, but maybe black wouldn't draw so much attention.

As for the game, the story has a cute premise but it's really slow paced... Also, are hints an option you're thinking to add? Spent a really long time figuring out the electrical box one. All in all, it was a really cute game with funny art ;)

Save My Plane ?? by sagarpatel25700 2017-08-07T02:19:12Z

Haha had so much fun with this game. Was the plane on fire or were just the jets? Nice fast paced music, as well as the gameplay, it was just really fun trying to fly between the world and trying to get energy cubes. Just a fun simple game, can't get wrong with that!

No Sorcerer's Sky by TheFlyingKeyboard 2017-08-06T14:32:42Z

Hey there, just played your game. It was a bit confusing to understand what to do. It wasn't understandable if I managed to craft or not. Also, the asteroids are half cut on the screen, there's stuff to do there but I can't see it on screen. It was an interesting concept, and the minimal art looked cool. The calming mood was also nice.

Solar defense by kpded 2017-08-07T02:35:34Z

This was a nice tower defense game, with the added energy theme. However I didn't feel much of a challenge or a drive to keep me going until day 4. While I think the simple graphics fit the game, I missed some background music to go with it. Overall it was fun :)

Night Light by arch-a-type 2017-08-07T01:26:45Z

Hey there! I really liked the game, the art was cute, and the story of the little girl got in my heart. There was a great mechanic when the music started changing while the environment was getting more dangerous that made me feel uneasy but in a good way, immersed in the game. It was kinda tricky jumping on the tiny blocks :P I really liked the purple orbs, interesting mechanic. Overall, really liked the game, cute, dark and engaging all at the same time.

Turtle's Quest by orcdraco 2017-08-06T15:12:34Z

@orcdraco Thanks for playing our game! Just played yours and it was a funny game. I was stuck sometimes on the blocks, I think the collisons may need some adjustments. However it was non blocking and the game was fun. It was a simple game, but I think the turtle and the crocodiles were cute!

Battery of Power by Belga54 2017-08-15T14:50:32Z

Fun and simple game! Nice art and music, and a good concept with the waves :) I just felt that the monsters spwaned really close to the player, not giving much space to evade them. But other than that it was a fun game, good job ;)

Plug Me by hav24 2017-08-15T04:34:15Z

This was a really cute and smart game, great puzzles with action and quick movements needed. It started to get quite frustrating after some time not being able to get it right, but it's just my lack of skills lol. The art was amazing, the music too with the change of pace when killed over and over. Amazing job, had really fun playing!

Power Hog by Kashif 2017-08-09T09:13:37Z

Funny and quirky :D Simple but intrincate having to remeber what to press and manage the next action! Great job, just needs some sound effects and background music and you're good to go ;)

The Box of Power by PNghasemi 2017-08-06T14:53:40Z

Just played your game. The visuals were stunningly cute! Loved it so much. Shame there's no sound to go with it. Also, I think I broke your game. In the day 1 in the house more on the left, the guys went outside, through the walls. It was a nice concept, and a really cute game. Hope you get to finish it later!

MoonBall by CurseTats 2017-08-06T14:19:02Z

Hi, I just played your game. Loved the music, it was so cute. The minimal graphics were also nice. With a simple premise I enjoyed it :)

Cannon Ships by chuckeles 2017-08-06T15:02:03Z

Really interesting mechanic, also the fact that you change difficulty by resizing the screen is cool. The graphics and sounds were really nice, reminding me of some shareware games I played in the 90's. Great job ;)

Lost in the Dark by Schu 2017-08-09T09:29:26Z

It's a great concept, pretty fun exploring the mazes. I felt I could only keep going by trying first the wrong ways, maybe adding some kind of mechanic that allows you to actually think would be nice. However it was a really well done game with minimalist art that really fits the concept. Great work!

(Also, if you wanna check out ours, I leave here the link like you asked in your other post: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/eclipse)

The Light City of Karola by davidcollado 2017-08-17T15:38:46Z

This game was visually beautiful. Nice platformer, although I felt it was lacking in challenges. The music was nice, but for me it doesn't match with the mood and the visuals. I also felt that the use of Z was awkward to Jump. Overall nice concept though.

Messy Getaway by RattyBloom40 2017-08-09T09:38:28Z

Interesting game, not so easy to escape, and I got rammed from behind a few times haha. I managed to keep the gas at a steady 61% approxemately, only dying when being rammed. It was fun, maybe it can be turned into a mobile game ;)

Encounters by Valphera 2017-08-15T05:03:36Z

This was an interesting experience. Felt more like an exploration and less like a game, but it was funny. It had cool models and music that kept the mood. However I did feel like the controls were a bit wonky, and when I jumped and landed, it jumped in place after landing. I also spent a good time wondering why the charging machine didn't allow me to pick up the coins on top of it, maybe you should differenciate that. Also, a hud information with how many coins you have already would really make the difference. Another thing that could be improved could be the colliders' size for when you talk to someone. It felt weird having to be so close to their face to be able to start talking.

Overall cool experience, with a funny story :)

Forgetting Things by player2point0 2017-08-06T16:59:09Z

Fun game, with a cool concept and play with the theme. The art was minimalist, and I don't think that changing it will necessarily improve the game. Keeping it simple doesn't distract you from the chore mechanics. I did feel sad for the little cube. It was hard to understand the mechanics that changed between levels. It was really fun to play ;)

Battery Low by krishnasism 2017-08-06T14:43:39Z

Hey! Just tried to play your game, unfortunately mine and @vasco-rodrigues smartphones don't have gyroscope. The concept does seem interesting and out of the box. Also, the screen was cut on my smartphone, I couldn't read the whole text on the menu. I loved the fact that you included in-game controls for pausing and restarting, that's really cool :)

Zzap by HS_Dave 2017-08-06T15:26:58Z

Hi there, just played your game. The neon visuals were really cool, and did match the sounds quite nicely. The game was simple to play, but I couldn't understand what was the incentive for me to keep going instead of just pressing the node power to exit. Also it could be good to have a way to check the time left for the purple squares to spread. All in all was interesting and a different gameplay from the usual.

Simple Lunar Lander Esque Game by OboShape 2017-08-11T20:42:50Z

Great job, a little bit difficult for me to control it, but I think it's part of the challenge :P Minimalist art was also a good fit for this fun experience. I just think restarting by going to the menu took too long because I had to read the instructions again :P Overall good job!

Cubed by SurfaceCPU 2017-08-09T04:57:16Z

Fun game simple game, with a fair amount of difficult gameplay to make things interesting ;) I managed to progress without hitting some yellow cubes, was that intended? Nice work!

The Path of Wonder by Enot487 2017-08-06T17:21:16Z

This was a fun endless runner, I saw myself trying really hard to last! I also didn't notice about the potion recipe, but I think you are already checking that from the previous comments ;) I'd like also to see little Fuzzytail :P Nice and simple art too. It was a fun experience ;)

DRAIN by LERPish 2017-08-08T15:53:26Z

Fun game, loved using the sword and loved the graphics, specially the trailing lights. It was funny when the enemies were lifeless :P Good job

Mr E McPower by BeepBoopIndie 2017-08-17T15:49:13Z

This was difficult! But it was really fun and interesting. The readme was helpful, but as @odd1in said, an interactive tutorial would be pretty cool. But given the time constraints it's normal to not have one, maybe later you can make one ;) The music does pump you up! Nice visuals too. Good job!

Bots Forest by Dino_jr 2017-08-06T17:03:17Z

Cool game, congrats on your first entry! And congrats for making everything, even the models! However, the game freezes when creating enemies, and keeps getting slower to play after...

I also didn't understand the connection with the theme, but it was a nice shooter to play and have fun :) (also, portuguese!)

AEOS by Yetman 2017-08-07T11:10:59Z

Stunning visuals, pretty relaxing. Loved the low poly art and the rowing sound. Definitely missed some backgrouund ambience to be more immersed. Quite simple the game, but really enjoyable, a good change of pace. However the controls were too sensitve, like @ohmaigawd the mouse was too sensitive and each arrow moved to much. The boat also started traversing with an up and down motion, don't know why, a little dizzy. But I really loved the environment, I think with some refinement on the controls will be a pretty spot on experience.

ANSWER ME! by Viliar 2017-08-07T02:12:27Z

Hi, funny game this one! It was really hard trying to write that fast, but somehow I didn't miss too many. Just lacked some sound effects, cellphone related, like typing, message received and batery depleting. It would also be nice to know in the how much from the total I scored, I don't know if my score was good or not. But I did have fun playing it :)

Blobville by Erkberg 2017-12-27T02:14:03Z

Such a fun game! Loved the "narrator's remarks". And oh boy did the difficulty scale with the ville's evolution.

Keeping track of poop... never crossed my mind that I'd do it. The mechanics were simple but the game's evolution makes it scale nicely in difficulty. I definitely think this has the perfect base for evolving. Maybe more types of buildings, other constructions for different items, farming or even factory jobs (I know, they just wanna have fun but life is hard) could develop further the ville.

Overall, great game, fun and interesting. Congratulations :)

The Curse of Mangara by PavelDlouhy 2017-12-27T21:32:03Z

This was a great game! The audio is epic! The plot is really interesting, I see you really put great work into it. The first time I entered a house I kept going and died multiple times by colliding with an enemy. At first I didn't really notice what happened. Maybe there is some way to prevent this, I can't really see how without intruding much though. Overall, I only missed some kind of boss fight, I was a bit disappointed about that as I was so enthralled with the plot.

Once again, the audio is really good, with improved art and a boss fight, you'll have the base for expanding the story and go deeper against Ollay! Congratulations!

Stuck in Parallel by Omiya Games 2017-12-25T19:41:37Z

This was a great concept, really innovative. However there are some problems that prevent it from achieving its full potential. I didn't like the fact that the character slided after stopping. It made me die too often. Also, like mentioned, there were some visibility bugs: I would drop the lantern, walk and hit invisible spikes, dying. Also, I could collide against the lanterns, which would mostly happen if I was already using one.

However, the art has a cute style, the sound really matches together and the concept is amazing! Some improvements and it will be great, an amazing base for you to extend and create more levels! Congratulations :)

The Dark Castle by Joror 2017-12-10T00:16:17Z

This was amazing. Really good narrative, the audio matched perfectly and the art was really good. Such a well made game, purely text adventure like I hadn't seen in a long time. Can't really point anything except that I don't think it fits with the theme.

Also, like Hayzar suggested, having more sound effects could be really good. Overall, great game!

Paw for Cream by Ango 2017-12-10T17:15:20Z

Overall nice little game, very minimalist but it works. The physics on the ice cream were really funny! I did end up cheating and firstly just give a little amount of ice cream and towards the end (time ending) I just gave the cookie part of the ice cream... So maybe you could improve that by setting a minimum on the ice cream so the player is forced to actually sell ice cream :P

Good job on your game, with few improvements and maybe polished art, it can shine :)

Cracks by YouBeStrong 2017-12-10T13:19:48Z

This was a nice game. I had a feeling from the beginning that I wasn't patching up a house. I was right. It was sad to see it, but really true. I can't see for sure the connection to the theme, maybe it's the more problems you have the more broken you are? Can't quite tell.

It was nice to see the hand drawn art, great work. The tape and fixing liquid in Unity were really nicely done, how did you do it?

Congratulations in a different, interesting and touching entry :)

Jazzy Beats by Moski 2017-12-28T20:30:09Z

Well, that was a close one! We still managed to rate before the time ending, I am now writing this calmly

First of all, a nice and well polished game, like always. The premise was really interesting and the execution was great. All feels polished: from ui to animations, passing through gameplay. The art is really well made, although I feel it could pop a little more from the style of your other games. However, the art is indeed well made, with the ui specially gorgeous, and the protagonist and antagonist have character/spunk.

Audio wise, really well made again, however the saxophone's notes started to get on my nerves. A tad annoying on the menu mainly.

As for the gameplay, I mainly had fun mashing the other keys while waiting for R to be available again. R was the most powerful attack. I did feel though that the balance was shifted, as Bluessom managed to get many fans really quickly really often, while I had to wait for my most powerful attack and the others didn't do as much.

I didn't understand what the time meant though? There was no limit and it was really down to who managed to get all of the fans. As a suggestion, if this mode still makes sense like it is, the game could have more modes in addition to this one, like a time attack one, where you have a set goal and a time limit, an endless mode where you can just mash away, and multiplayer modes. @vasco-rodrigues and I were talking how fun it would be to play against each other as idols, or (my favorite) a multiplayer mode where you team with another idol (a collab!) and take down the other pair of idols.

Overall, great game, polished, well made, and we do hope to see updates to it in the future! (Maybe a multiplayer mode at the next game dev meet :P). Congratulations, and good luck ;)

garbage sort by pragmascript 2017-12-28T02:16:10Z

Wow, deja vu much! I totally saw our game when the boxes started pilling on the floor... The game looks very polished, with polished controls and environment. The environment really helped with the serious mood and the "do your job the way you should" feeling.

Although pretty simple to play, the difficulty increases nicely, so keeping up with the production is hard. I did wish I had some kind of bar or something to know roughly how much could I still miss before it was too late. After some time the orange light's sound got really annoying.

Overall, a well made game, congratulations :)

Defense 2160 BC by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2017-12-27T02:26:53Z

Interesting game. The learning curve is a little bit steep, it took long for me to understand what to do (even though I read the ? instructions). Once I understood the game by trial, it became more interesting. Still I'm not good at these kind of games...

The audio and art were really nice and helped in creating a nice mood. Good work :)

A cozy winter walk by tinyworlds 2017-12-09T19:55:14Z

This was an adorable game. Just adorable. I see the spin you put into the theme, but still I can't say that it fits. However what's lacking in theme has in charm. Just lovely art, relaxing sound, a cute and simples story. The interactions with the objects don't really give anything more than filler to story, and in spite of not having a real progression, I can't say I wasn't amazed at the whole feel.

The story was linear and simple, but it did have progression, with start, middle and end.

Overall just a lovely great game, I really enjoyed it in spite of the theme. Congratulations!

House Party by Richard141289 2017-12-28T19:52:55Z

This was a really fun game to play! The physics animations were great and increased the humor of the game. The art style is simple but it fits the game very well. It's a bit hard to remember all of the keys during the game, so maybe you could add the option to check them in the pause menu or group the action keys together, just as WASD keys are grouped.

I didn't understand how to throw the guests like in the gifs, so I would just drag them outside. The sound effects were nice too.

About the physics mechanic, would you consider a post about how you made the ragdoll effect? We wanted to do the same kind of movement for LD 38 but ended up not finding stuff about it, so I am really curious on how to do it (I still want to). So I'd love to know how you did it.

Overall, a polished and fun game, congratulations :)

ไบบๆฐ—ใŒใ‚ใ‚‹ใ‚ˆ๏ผ๏ผˆ~Be popular!๏ผ‰ by Jordgubben 2017-12-24T18:36:41Z

Great concept, a refreshing idea. The graphics and sound were simple but they had a bubbly feeling that was nice.

What bugged me the most was getting locked with no way to keep going, even after giving the fans autographs. Having to reload the game to restart or just sit waiting until time had passed was not ideal. An in game menu with a restart button would be a much needed addition.

Overall nice game, great work :)

Fight Cart by terryg 2017-12-12T13:05:27Z

Like the other commenters, I didn't understand how to fight, I kept going towards them, clicking, they fight, and seemed like a random result to me. Maybe have some better feedback about that? Because I knew I had to get those shapes but ended up losing what I had most of the time.

The fighting animations were derpy and funny, and match the music.

The text in game needs to be put on top of the game, because with the characters walking in front of it it was difficult to read (I know it's the same text you put on the description, but still).

It's an interesting concept, fits nicely the theme and is fun, so good work :)

Blalb by superjai 2017-12-28T01:57:46Z

Interesting game. At first I felt like it was Blalbamari (Katamari), not much to do, just roll and get big. Then I got some arms... that was when the true fun begun. The game ended up being a tad slow, after so many elements on the scene. Maybe you could use an object pooler and deactivate what can't be seen on the viewport.

One problem: on the leaderboard, the count gets to 10 and then instead of going to 11, goes back to 1: Captura de Ecrรฃ (12).png

I really liked the idea of my blalb living on to attack other players, well done. The design was also well presented, with good and consistent art. Overall it's the whole package, maybe just needs to balance the slow start. Great work!

Wrecking Ball Princess by radmars 2017-12-09T23:23:34Z

Really cool game, loved the mix between pixel art and 3D, but the game area was too small.

The colours were really nice, the whole cyber futuristic sound was also spot on.

Just felt that maybe the Princess on the side of the game could react to in game situations, like the original Doom guy, with expressions and maybe talk. Some movements would make it even more engaging.

The game as a tad difficult for me to play. Controlling that wrecking ball was too difficult and I kept realising it towards the right lower corner. That made it difficult to advance.

Overall it was a good game, with some polishing it will shine even more, congratulations :)

Chuck Norris will Make America Great Again by paulhocker 2017-12-24T17:32:17Z

Funny game! Great endless scroller, I kicked that plane for an eternity but it took too long to take even a third of life. That gets a bit boring.

The different weapons were cool, the art style with the sound was really nice. Being Chuck Norris was definitely awesome.

I just didn't see the connection to the theme... Also, I can't lose? Being hit or letting stuff pass by my uncaught/unbeaten didn't do anything. I feel the game is missing at least one setback to make it more interesting and not so easy.

But the game was a really good idea, just needs a few improvements and it will be even better! Great work :)

CalligraTree by Roaring Cat Games 2017-12-09T05:05:39Z

This game is really beautiful. The sound and art is great, and fits in well with the the relaxation concept. Having that said, I don't really see how the game fits in the theme. You will always have to create branches, so there isn't a way to avoid having more.

Also, there is no goal. After having played more levels, I just felt they were all the same, with just a tree generated differently. No objective nor evolution from level to level.

Trying to purposefully lose by trying to create a branch on top of others, most of the time didn't do anything. It took at least four times for me to lose. And it wasn't really losing, as the tree bloomed anyway. Not clicking in anything also let the tree bloom.

The game also kept crashing on WebGL with an out of memory error: "Out of memory. If you are the developer of this content, try allocating more memory to your WebGL build in the WebGL player settings".

Overall, the look and feel are amazing, and it is a great concept that can be turned in a wondeful game with some kind of progression and goal, but as it is I feel it is an experience and not a game. However, it was a great job, congratulations :)

DvZ by TRGoodhue 2017-12-14T02:00:08Z

This was a nice game, with a good concept. The controls were simple, the premise too. However death was imminent with the increase of the zombie number.

The splatter animation was really nice, it remembered me of the splatter animation on an old game called Bio Menace.

I do think that the game doesn't have much connection to the theme, as the connection "the more time you have the worse it is" is not really clear here as you don't have time, time is spent. Also, the background music is a little off from the game theme (too bubbly).

But overall it was enjoyable, good work :)

Beer Belly or Bust by keckles 2017-12-26T14:03:50Z

This was an interesting game. Even though I held the right button, the controls still felt hard. Specially when jumping on the tree's platforms. Also, keeping pressing the right button is a bit tiring. The camera sometimes collided with something (walls, tree) and showed a weird view.

The art was goofy, which matched the mood. This was a nice concept, maybe with fixing the controls it can be more enjoyable. The congratulations for losing was unexpected xD Good work :)

Lava Cave by Goplite 2017-12-09T06:03:28Z

This game had a very cool base idea, however it felt a little bit too difficult for me. The whole jumping mechanic was really difficult and I kept getting frustrated failing multiple times everytime I have to jump. The boost with the gun makes sense, but actually doing it control wise was too difficult. The game had a really cool sound effect + music combination, and the stickman animations were nice. I frequently kept droping orbs buy accidentaly clicking on E. Also, I didn't feel the lava was a real danger, I took too long to advance each time but didn't feel that I needed to hurry or was going to die. The tutorial didn't stand out from the rest of the level, maybe the whole background and level could be light, to notice more the stickman, the orbs and the tutorial. But hey, having a tutorial is even more than asked, so kudos to that!

Overall nice game, had fun, with polish can become even better. Congratulations :)

Demon Hunt by AViTT 2017-12-10T15:44:09Z

Interesting concept, however the controls were a little bit difficult, with the constant turning. Aiming is also hard.

I didn't feel a real danger as I started to pursue the demons and they kept backing running away from me, I just taunted them all over the map.

But given the time you had I think it was a good end result that will definitely benefit from the time you can put on improvements :)

Zombeer by justinooncx 2017-12-24T17:19:59Z

This was fun! Also a bit hard, and I am kinda bad at it... My highest was 2028  I kept getting trapped between zombies and chairs too. And drank beer just for the sake of the fun! The effects felt really well implemented and were cool. The whole retro feel fits nicely with the game.

I liked the fact that the character was a girl! One suggestion, in addition to endless mode, why not a stage mode where you have to blast your way out of the bar, building, block of buildings, etc, going to the beer factory and try to stop the zombie outbreak? But maybe the beer effects stacking is not feasible with this, so maybe some water in between to heal the character is needed. With this you can add more guns, like shotgun, flamethrower, machine gun, whatever comes to your imagination :)

Great work, congratulations!

PullPals by eric-lathrop 2017-12-09T19:39:50Z

This was a pretty cool game. The look and the audio are really cute and bubbly. That said, I can't see where it fits in the theme.

It started really fun however I did figure I could cheat by detaching the pal's hands and dragging one of his hands and just fly him over to the end. It was kinda tricky to get the hands to attach because I would drag them there, they locked and then quickly unlocked if I didn't release my mouse fast enough. I kept missing the attaching points because the hand would quickly dettach and keep moving with the camera. It got a little bit frustrating.

The physics are interesting and a great job.

Overall was a charming entry and with some improvements and more levels you will have a game to release. Congratulations :)

All You Can Eat by wwwhizz 2017-12-24T17:52:18Z

Really fun game! It has a simple gameplay mechanic but it is really enjoyable. The art style and the sound, too cool. I just felt that although I did get slower, it didn't make a big impact.

Other than that, really good idea, fun and simple. Loved the phrases the character shouted! Mine seemed to love burping and hot dogs. And he felt great! Congratulations!

AAAH, CRABS! by rovingsquid 2017-12-10T16:41:18Z

Man what a game! Too funny. The art could be better keeping the silly theme, but overall it was really fun. The mouse is difficult, but you can't really take that away or else it'll be too easy.

Maybe like dx0ne said it could be ported to mobile, it can be a fit.

The silly music also helped with the mood.

Overall really fun!

The Adventures of Marty Graw by Samusoidal 2017-12-09T05:28:49Z

This was a cool game. Great idea about hoarding and having to stash the bars on the coffrets to regain time. The rocks on the floor looked to me like bread and I thought I would get stamina if ate them. Took me a couple of times to understand that I was losing the gold xD Maybe some better feedback could be given about when the bars were taken away from me, due to rocks/snakes or stashing it? The art was a little derpy, but the animations were funny. The audio initially was cool, but as it kept playing it dragged a little and was tiring to hear.

Overall cool concept, funny and simple, I think you achieved an entertaining game. Congratulations :)

Wired Network by Behenate 2017-12-27T20:58:55Z

I really liked the mood of this game. Unfortunately, it's my game nightmare, jumps. I'm awful at jumping. Really bad. At every game. So... it was really hard for me to jump the platforms. I always felt that I pressed too late the space bar, I always ended up falling. I think I did fall on a corner of a couple of platforms too, so maybe it's my lack of skill combined with some bug. Like the other commenters said, the mouse was too sensitive too, but that's an easy tweak.

Changing weapons with 1 2 3 kinda took away from the immersion on the game, it made me think of which to press, which makes it even harder for someone who already has difficulty controlling the character. Maybe cycling weapons with a single key, or mouse wheel would fit better.

The game had an amazing look, the graphics and particles and the whole retro feel really appeased me (I love retro). You're only missing a retro synthwave background track and you're good to go with the whole package! Congratulations!

The Exalted by Flubz 2017-12-13T09:14:44Z

Definitely one of the best I've seen. Really polished, great gameplay and visuals, music fast paced but not too much, great UI. The visual effects were really cool too. The possibility of having two sets of controls was helpful to me which allowed me to combine mouse and keyboard. Fits very well with the theme too.

I think the only thing missing are some sound effects (not too loud, to not overstep the music). The whole game is really nice and a great work. Congratulations :)

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-09T02:15:59Z

Hey @ebim thank you so much for playing! I'm glad that Christmas is saved and I hope you still want to save Christmas next year :D

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-09T04:27:33Z

Thank you so much for playing @patrick-d, glad you had fun :) We will think about how we make it more obvious :)

@roaring-cat-games Thank you so much for playing. We really appreciate the feedback and the time you put into detailing. We participated in the Jam version, however due to work we only had less than 48h, so we do know there can be more bugs. About the house, we are aware of that, and already tried some fixes, seems to be of no avail unfortunately. We will also look into balancing the difficulty. Thank you so much again!

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-09T14:58:59Z

Thank you so much @spiria, I'm glad you enjoyed playing. Yeah, the difficulty increases over time :P Thank you for your feedback!

Thank you for playing @adhesion. We are aware more aware of the control difficulties, and will look into it later today. Yesterday after yours and @jasperarmstrong comments we released a 1.2 version of the game, with mouse lock and hide in game. Thank you so much for your feedback!

Thank you @jasperarmstrong, I'm glad that overall you still liked the game. As I said to adhesion, after both of your comments we released yesterday a fix for the mouse. Thank you so much for the tip about the cursor lock! We will also look into improve the controls. Thank you again :)

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-09T15:06:56Z

Thank you for playing @tuomo, I'm glad you enjoyed :) We will look today into improving the controls, so thank you so much for your feedback!

@doc-ill I'm really glad that you had fun and were able to manage the hectic environment on the middle of the North Pole :). We did already release yesterday a lock and hide cursor fix, I'm guessing you either played the original version or that we put it up roughly at the same time you downloaded the 1.1 version. We also yesterday debated adding a crosshair, but we left it to do with more time today, so we will look into that later today, so thank you so much for your feedback. Also, making dirty tricks might turn you into a naughty boy, but as you're now Santa, I guess it doesn't matter! :D Thanks again for playing!

Thank you so much for playing @puarsliburf, I'm glad you were able to save Christmas and have fun in the meantime!

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-09T15:21:30Z

@wolfo thank you so much for playing :) I'm guessing you played the original version? Yesterday we released a fix for the cursor lock. I'm glad you enjoyed it even though :)

Thank you so much @yishalee, I'm glad you enjoyed it! We are definitely going to look into the aiming today. Thank you for your feedback :)

Thank you for playing @cliff-lee-cl! And thank you for your feedback, we are already looking into improving both of those points later today.

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-09T22:32:40Z

I'm glad you liked it @timestop, thanks for playing! :)

Thank you for playing @sgadrat. The endless mode does sound like a cool addition, we will look into that when we have more time. Unfortunately neither of us has Mac or Linux, just Windows, so we couldn't test the builds :\ Thank you so much for trying our game in another way (using Wine), it means a lot to us that you went out of your way to test it. Thank you again :)

@lorenzos thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed the look of the game. A new version with crosshair and controls is definitely coming out today, that was already added and we are just testing a bit more the improvements on the controls. Thank you for your feedback :)

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-10T00:04:31Z

Thank you for playing @joror, and thank you for your feedback. We would have liked to expand it more, but being just two to deal with programming and art and in less than 48h (we work on monday :( ) the time did feel a little bit short. When we get a chance we would like to think on how we could expand it/diversivy it. Thank you again :)

Thank so much for playing @annie-owl, and we are deep on working into fixing as much as we can during the weekend! We have just released a version with crosshair, which we hope that improves the experience.

@merdeboi thank you for playing! We hope that with the latest controls and camera improvements, saving Christmas will be a little easier. Thank you for your feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed :)

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-10T01:19:49Z

Thank you for playing @sibi, we'd love if you tried the updated version as well. I'm also glad that you enjoyed. About VR in facto we did discuss it during the Jam and intend to develop it, as we bought Oculus and want to start experimenting with it. I just don't know if it will happen in time for Christmas :)

@clemzd thank you for playing, it really is stressful being Santa. Thank you for your feedback.

@fixedgerald I'm sorry about that, hopefully you can try an updated version and check if it still happens? If playing on Mac/Linux we don't have any so we couldn't check the builds. Thank you for trying to play, and I'm glad you enjoyed the setting.

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-10T01:23:18Z

Thank you so much @zipp! We made an update, I hope it improves the mouse for you if you decide to give it another go :) Thanks again!

@naali thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it. We would like to think how we could further expand it, when we have more time. I'm sorry it didn't work on Mac. Great hack with the Linux though. Thank you for going out of your way to try it :)

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-11T01:58:12Z

Thank you so much for playing @peachtreeoath! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for your compliments :)

Thank you for playing @jaimuepe, sorry for the stress :P I'm glad you managed to get the hang of it throwing the boxes. Thank you for your feedback!

Thank you so much @ango, I'm glad you liked! And Santa apreciates you taking his place :P

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-11T08:56:09Z

Thank you for playing @artur-hawkwing, I'm glad you enjoyed and it ran smoothly!

@youbestrong thank you for playing. We might think about customising the mouse and other options, as well as a speed button. It is an interesting idea, but we won't probably have a chance during the week. Thank you for your feedback and for saving Christmas :)

Thank you so much @owen-davies, we might think about an option to balance the increase in speed. I'm glad you still enjoyed :)

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-13T10:15:01Z

Thank you for playing @spacemonkey, and thank you so much for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed, and don't forget that your 3D game was also really good looking and polished :)

Thank you so much for playing @lamossus, I'm sorry you felt it was way too easy. We might try to add a way to increase difficulty for different players. The stress goes up the more gift boxes you have on the room. I'm glad you enjoyed it though :)

@notspaghettigames thank you so much for playing and thank you for your kind comments!

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-14T10:06:00Z

Thank you for playing @maybe. I assume you played the original version? We have a crosshair (with the shape of a little snowflake) and improved the controls in the updated version. Thank you for your feedback :)

Thank you so much @creamybacon2! I assume you played the original version? We have a snowflake crosshair in the updated version :) I'm glad you enjoyed!

Thank you so much @reax! I'm glad you enjoyed even though it was simple. With the time constraints we had we didn't have time for implementing more unfortunately. I will check the toggle music button, thank you for alerting us.

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-20T17:48:58Z

Thank you for playing @theloneplant :) I'm glad it was intuitive what to do :D We know the gameplay is really simple, but with the limited time we had we didn't manage to design and implement more mechanics. The mechanics you suggested are really interesting and we'll surely think about them (the time we have to implement is the biggest setback to us). Thank you so much for your feedback, and we're really happy you enjoyed it :)

Congratulations @pcmxms! Not having a tutorial is sometimes a bad move, as we had a few players initially confused about what to do, but we're glad that most player figure it out easily :) About that bug, it is not a feature. We don't know how does Unity build differently to Linux (and probably Mac) but that's most likely what's happening. Currently we only have Windows to test, but we're thinking about installing Linux too to try and figure out what's wrong. Thank you for playing :)

Thank you so much @illabom :) We do know the gameplay is a tad simple, but with the time constraints and wanting to really finish something, we kept it that way. We are thinking about other possibilities in improving that. About the edge highlights:

1 - Create an empty game object in the inspector (lets call it HaloObject)

2 - Add an halo component to the HaloObject

3 - Make the HaloObject a child of the game object where you want the halo.

4 - Now through scripting you just have to enable/disable the HaloObject to show/hide the glow. I used a game object with only the halo component because you can't control it through scripting.

Thank you for playing, and we're glad you enjoyed even though it was simple :)

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-24T23:47:30Z

@jandourek Thank you so much, we're glad you liked :) Definitely, more challenges would make the game more replayable. Thank you for your feedback!

@robert-newman Thank you so much!

@hisfantor Could you tell us what happened in your computer?

@saphires thank you so much! Poor Santa indeed xD

@zanzavar Thank you for playing! Do you have any suggestions about the grabbing? About the walls of the house, I think it was solved in the later updates of the game. The controls were also a little modified. If you'd like, give the updated version a try! Thank you again :)

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-27T22:08:11Z

Thank you for playing @justinooncx! There was a limit of boxes on the screen indeed, reflected on the stress bar. I'm glad you had fun messing around, that's part of the joy too! Thank you for your feedback :)

@omiya-games thank you for playing. Thank you for your detailed feedback too. I'm glad that the post jam build improved on the problems you felt about the controls. About the box dropping sound, you are completelly right, it's something that we missed due to bigger problems, but we will check on that. Thank you so much again :)

Thank you for playing @cppchriscpp :) And right on time for saving Christmas! The mouse pointer has had a few improvements in the builds (perhaps the most tinkered of all aspects) so I do hope it's a lot better for players as it is for us. Thank you for playing even though it was awkward :P

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-27T22:18:32Z

I'm glad you enjoyed @ayame9joe!

I'm glad you had fun @sugiuro, thank you so much for playing!

Thank you for playing @ithildin :) I'm glad you enjoyed the mood. It is indeed a simple game, we wanted something really light, and also in terms of mechanics, due to our work, we managed to create just the simple sorting game. The controls have been improved thanks to feedbacks, so I do hope it's easier to play the updated version. Thank you for your detailed feedback, and again for playing!

Thank you so much for playing @stratoskakalis, I'm glad the overall mood appealed to you :) Generally we tend to follow and emphasize the theme. Sometimes we could make something more subtle, but generally we like direct approaches. Can be bad and good at the same time, but if we make enough games we'll (hopefully) fill all kinds of genres! Good luck for you too, and thank you again :)

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2017-12-27T22:26:56Z

Thank you for playing @themonsterfromthedeep, I'm sorry the controls were so hard. About the automatic pick-upability, I'm not sure how we'd do that with our current configuration, but it is worth thinking about. I'm glad that the later updates make the game a lot more playable. Thank you for your detailed feedback :)

Thank you so much @mr-mcgibblets, I'm glad you enjoyed the mood! I do hope the gift pick-up feels a lot better on the updated version :) If you had fun, maybe Santa can hire you again next year :D

@zirconcode thank you for playing! We agree, the loop was a tad short, but our sound designer @gtavares made the sound taking some limitations into account, that later were found not to happen, but he didn't have time to re-create the system. Thank you again :)

Thank you so much @toccs, I'm glad you enjoyed! The controls indeed were hard, but hopefully the updated version takes that away!

Santa's Factory by SaraMartins 2018-01-01T20:37:18Z

Thank you so much for playing @goat-toaster-games. Yeah, probably an in game keys and gameplay explanation would have been helpful. Still, I'm glad you gave it another try and it went better. Thank you so much for your feedback!

Thank you so much @pragmascript, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you so much @behenate!

I'm sorry for you not being able to play the jam version @paveldlouhy. I already said in your post, but if you'd still like to try the 1.4 update now that the voting ended, we'd love to hear from you :)

Project Vamparty by maybe 2017-12-11T09:28:14Z

Nice game, amazing art and animations. The gameplay is a little bit tricky. I discovered that the mouse button lets you attack too, which would have been nice to know as z is not an ideal key when using wasd.

It did feel like a lucky shot as sometimes I got too many huntears near me, making it impossible to advance.

About the music... I understand the choice of the track, being a vamPARTY, but it just really got me stressed hearing it since the beginning, too loud and distractive (I was using headphones and if I was on the lowest level, if I toned it down, I muted the sound). Some sound effects, for when attacking for example, could be a nice little addition.

Overall it was a nice game with a polished look, which will be even better from which improvements you set to make :) Congratulations

Fluffy Space Escape by potatolain 2017-12-24T06:15:31Z

Amazing entry! This has a really interesting gameplay mechanic. Theoratically doesn't differ much from other entries I've seen that slow you down based on the pickups, but this seems really well made and different. I guess it all has to do with the level design: possible paths combined with how many pickups you have.

The story is cute, the graphics and music too, so it is really a bundle of cutess and feel good. The die sound effect was a favorite to me. Also, creating a NES game? Amazing, congratulations :)

Overall had a great time with this one, very chill and interesting, and great design. Congratulations!

In Temperance Ruin by sparewizard 2017-12-14T02:21:16Z

Great game, it really reminded me of Catacomb Abyss with a mixture of Ken's Labyrinth. Good ui, good art, good gameplay. I do feel that the connection with the theme is a bit of a stretch though.

Also, good sound effects but the background sound effects do not combine with the pixel art and 8 bit sounds. The background sound effects help with the mood, but they are way too realistic. Other than that, I think this was a really well polished game. Also your update on walking through the level was really good, great improvement. Great work :)

Glutton's Heaven by klekky 2017-12-09T19:04:07Z

This was interesting. The pixel art was nicely done. The dialogue appeared really slowly and as I tried to hit the space bar it skipped the whole dialogue, so I ended up missing some context.

Although the toxic emmission is not really my thing, it was funny in the game. However it was a little bit tricky to get it to work, I wasn't well positioned to aim and it has a small distance. I also kept eating by mistake vegetables, trying to reach the delicious food. I felt the platforms were a bit difficult and most definitely one has to get the hang of it.

Overall good job, congratulations :)

Super Consumerism Sim 2K17: GOTY Edition by EX3D0 2017-12-10T15:57:47Z

Very simple game, can't say that I was entertained unfortunately. Just buying stuff with no goal is too simple and I think you could expand on this.

The audio and the art were really nice though :)

Who Ate My Pizza? by UnidayStudio 2017-12-24T18:21:32Z

Interesting game! I played the portuguese version, and when the tutorial appeared it first had the Lorem ipsum text, that a few seconds later changed to the actual tutorial. There where some writing mistakes, and some words written together. Nothing that couldn't be understanded. On the tutorial, when I pressed one key, it quickly passed to the next step. I wasn't ready, I wanted to try to move with the mouse, so you could add a button that the user presses when he/she is ready to go on.

The wasd keys move too fast, maybe some kind of smoothing with the camera could help. My friends got stuck on the barrels and kept walking in place.

But overall cool game, good execution and a good work. Congratulations :)

LD40 Compo: The Greed Run by vkmicro 2017-12-09T07:19:02Z

This was a fun game even though you didn't have much time to spend making it. I went in it already expecting crashing and collision bugs, so I must say it did crash and sometimes the little guy-thing got stuck on the floor. Jumping around fixed that. Not the crashing though lol. It was cool the exploration part, speacially for me being a collector, I had to have all the coins so I could have all the goodies. The jumping felt cool, however the movement was way to fast, making me fall of the platforms many times. The music and sound effects complemented the game nicely. Overall a cute game, congratulations :)

ARTIFACTS by Fran Segura 2017-12-11T20:06:49Z

The game visuals are perfect, and the music sets pretty well the mood. That said, the game is way too difficult. The controls are too weird. I kept dying because I couldn't aim and wal at the same time to hook the grappling hook. Also, when the game started, there was no explanation and I died over and over until I understood what I had to do. By the time the ghost came, I already was fed up with dying and the dying scream. Running away from it and once again being unable to aim made me continue to die, until I just had to stop because I wasn't having fun.

The game does look amazing, a great mood and an interesting and innovatice mechanic, however too awkward/difficult to control. If you manage to improve that, you probably have the perfect game. Also, I can't pinpoint the connection to the theme. Great work nonetheless :)

ARTIFACTS by Fran Segura 2017-12-13T05:55:30Z

@jaimuepe I played with the keyboard. Maybe one could point with the mouse (i.e. direction defined by mouse position, changed everytime mouse moves) so I could point towards where I want the hook to attach (from the allowed loops of course). As the throw hook is already with LMB I think it would combine rather easily.

I think this alone might improve the experience, but I only can tell after and if you decide to implement it of course. But for now I think it is my main suggestion. :)

Sorted by Ryan Temple 2017-12-15T09:26:43Z

Well, our games could be cousins! The game was fun, however infinite mode is a tad tiring. Maybe another mode with a set goal of crates to store could be added. Also, 50 crates is a too much high threshold, makes the game too easy/long. A label with the stored crates was in need, in addition to the lost crates. I think also on mobile the game could be easier, as it is easier do select and drag. Not that it was hard here, but the interaction on mobile is with touch.

The rotation animations where cool, and the art simple but ok, something you can improve later. Some sounds and background music would be cool, like the machine functioning, crates dropping and stored. The crates' physics were also good.

But this was your first Ludum Dare and it was a nice entry! Practice makes perfection and your first result was not bad. Don't be unmotivated and keep improving the game to have a great memory from your first LD jam :) Congrats!

A Hero's Burden by muffty 2017-12-16T08:37:50Z

Wow this was amazing. How did you manage to have time for such a polished and complete game? Everything is cool; having voice acting, the sounds, the aspect, the effects, narrrative, gameplay... This together creates a great experience.

I just think the controls were weird, with the character always going to the left. Overall great game really, congratulations

Pet Watch by Skyward 2017-12-10T15:01:22Z

This was a nice idea and a different spin on the theme. However the dogs die way too fast, so the game should be a bit slower at the start and then gradually increase in difficulty.

The art was nice and the phone a cool idea, however the lettering was way too small on my screen to be readable, specially the help app. (I couldn't increase the size of the window).

Overall good concept, with some fixes might be more enjoyable. :)

Yuri The Greedy Spaceman by PUARSLIBURF 2017-12-09T06:16:50Z

This was a solid entry. Loved the 8bit feel with the sound/music and the art. Really funny loonking Yuri's legs' movements. I did however keep falling out of the platforms too quickly. It was a little bit difficult to control, but really don't know if this can be adjusted without making it lose the core concept of the gravity and floating off. But I do agree with the previous comments about having to keep restarting with losing so quickly.

Overall with a cute little game, with a great look and feel, which can be even more improved if you manage to adjust its difficulty. Good job :)

KEY MASTER by CreamyBacon2 2017-12-10T14:05:30Z

This game is really difficult. It is innovative in terms of playing with diifferent keys, but it makes it way too challenging. I kept dying because I couldn't assimilate what the new keys were quickly enough to escape de red enemies. Having to look from the screen to the keyboard was not ideal.

I don't know how you can tone down the difficulty, but it would make it even more engaging, and with some art it could be a good game. Congratulations though in such an innovative idea :)

Somni by Timestop 2017-12-09T22:49:46Z

Your game looks really nice, the art is amazing and the sound complements it nicely. But I didn't really like the fact that I had to install the game. Also I don't see where it fits with the theme.

It was a nice little game, would love to see the story expanded. Even thought it was short it felt pretty polished and with an amazing look for such a short amount of time.

I was sad when I saw he had been at the hospital the whole time, and was curious to know what happened.

Congratualations :)

Cute invaders by sgadrat 2017-12-09T23:52:03Z

Wow this was hard! Reaaally hard. At first is all fun and good, but then the chickens just keep popping and I can't manage to give attention to everyone! And then they die... that was sad.

They game was just cute, with a really nice music sound. The actions were also cool but after unlocking them not much more than repeating them.

I was hoping for a unicorn, but then I read that the chance was really 0% lol

It was a nice little game, very spot on on the theme, but I think it needs some more evolution, as the endless mode gets a little bit tiring and stressful to be repeating. But it is a great concept, and I hope you can develop on it! Congratulations!

Cavern Breakout by jandourek 2017-12-16T08:18:03Z

Thi was an interesting game, however the controls were not working well. The break block didn't always work, even standing right next to it. Sometimes I spent time clicking on it, then click elsewhere then click again on where I wanted for it work. For what I read on the description it doesn't tell me that it should be like that.

But the game was still enjoyable and a good take on the theme, I like the core mechanic too. The art was also really nice. Liked specially when the skeletons threw bones at me, as it reminded me of a game called Monster Bash. The sound effects fit with the game, I just missed a bakground tune :) Good work :)

Cavern Breakout by jandourek 2017-12-20T00:10:48Z

@jandourek I can't really specify... just sometimes clicking breaks the block sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I can even break a far away block and can't break one next to me. Sorry for not being able to tell you more :(

Kittea Party by JPiolho 2017-12-20T04:02:39Z

Interesting game! Really loved the art, it was really cute! Nice sound effects, missed a background tune. Good controls, nice turn to mouse mechanic. Animations were quite good too.

Unfortunately I felt the game got a tad boring after a while. I could keep saying no to adopting cats and didn't feel any downside to saying that. So after that, not much to do but to keep walking from room to room cleaning poo on the floor.

But this does feel like a good concept for something with more mechanics, and was a lovely happy game. Congratulations on your great work :)

A Social Life by Owen Davies 2017-12-09T22:17:16Z

This was interesting. I understand the idea behind it, infuriating the player, but it really just felt annoying, or not really, as after 10 followers I left the game running in background to check a few times later...

So yeah you don't really do anything in the game, a bit boring, but it is indeed what you intended to so you accomplished it.

The music loop was nice and the pixel art nicely made too. Maybe you should have drawn the smartphone in the same style as the room and items. Congratulations :)

Critter Clutter by Burgee 2017-12-14T02:24:49Z

Hey I tried to play your game but it gave me an error:

Critter Clutter by Burgee 2017-12-24T18:10:24Z

Hey there @burgee, managed to get it to work on another computer! Funny game, although it got to a point where I was just doing the same, separating the creatures and didn't feel there was a fast enough progression. At that point I started slapping everything just for the fun of it and managed to get -1024 points... dunno if it was supposed to be able to get negative points

The art was just so cute, and the sounds too! Cuteness overload! Also, online rankings? Great work!

Maybe needs some more power-ups, but other than that it's a really solid entry, great work. Congratulations :)

SpaceBadies by Mr.McGibblets 2017-12-27T01:32:30Z

Good game, fast paced and with tons of adrenaline. The sound helped create the perfect mood. The visual effects were cool too.

I think the connection to the theme is not that clear. The number of badies was increasing but I only saw two sizes of badies, and it didn't evolve from there. I think the game needs a better progression in terms of difficulty to relate better to the theme. A boss would be a cool feature too.

Due to this linear gameplay, one ends up doing the same thing pretty fast, which can get a bit boring. Also, I died and respawned immediatelly, without no warning. I would have liked to at least check my score.

Some hit feedback, like ship or screen turning red, would be nice to have, but not crucial.

Overall it was fun to play, the fast pacedness helps the game shine. Great work :)

Also, we'd love if you played our game :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/santas-factory

Scraps by gustavo.christino 2017-12-27T01:49:01Z

This game as an interesting concept, but it was a little bit difficult. I think the physics are not working like they should, so the character's movement ends up a little unpredictable. Also, upon falling, the level does not reset. That makes the game unplayable. If I couldn't advance in this situation, restarting with the same conditions will still keep me from being able to play.

Having to watch again the intro without being able to skip it takes too long. The intro was indeed really nicely made, but it gave me no context about the game, I did not understand why or where the character went.

The mechanics of the game are interesting and I'm sure you will be able to improve and expand based on feedback. Good work :)

The More the Merrier by Tuomo 2017-12-09T20:50:21Z

This was a really fun game! Had a blast trying to pile the passengers, and laughed too much when the boat sank or got damaged. What I missed was some way to check the next passengers, not all of them but maybe the next 2 our 3 while putting one. Just guessing where to put the passengers is fun at first but then gets way too simple.

But overall I had so much fun and the game does fit the theme really nicely! Congratulations :)

Lamattractive by Pandanym 2017-12-28T20:46:56Z

Oh my god, this was amazing! So much fun! So cute and bublly and cheerful, I'm amazed!

Those neck movements... I laughed really hard. Dodging the gyus was hard but fun, I just loved the gameplay, a no brainer but not that easy! Please do turn this into a mobile game, I just thought about mobile while playing it.

Congratulations!

Bert's Adventure by Xeinix 2017-12-09T21:25:41Z

The game has a great potential but it really is very hard. The story was funny but just like bartosz, sometimes my mouse did not register the click and I ended up hiting the floor and having to restart.

The art is simple but matches the game, I liked the music but the pickup sounds got a little bit annoying after some time.

Overall interesting concept but really difficult, if you find a way to even the difficulty, the game can thrive, as the story is interesting. Nice work :)

Super Slaughter Dungeon by NNNIKKI 2017-12-10T14:28:34Z

Fun and fast paced game, however I didn't really feel the difficulty of the game change much with the points increasing. I stayed mostly on the bottom of the level and didn't quite feel that the powerups made a difference.

I also didn't pay attention to the stats on the side of the screen, they didn't really matter much. I liked the music, I think it fit nicely with the game, and the art was nice too.

I think if you manage to create a bigger story with progression around the game instead of just this endless mode, it could be good. You could keep the endless mode and have a story mode :) Congratulations on your work :)

Hidden Shadows by Artur Hawkwing 2017-12-09T19:18:12Z

Interesting game, however the text took way too long and I was anxious to dip in the game. That added to the fact that the application kept freezing, made me a little impacient. I must say it also freezed in menus and on game over. Also, short after starting I did fall from the map, upon exploring xD The controls were a bit weird, I felt like the rotation could simply be handled by the mouse. Which could maybe benefit from the Y-axis, like Hilvon referred.

Good job on adding a pause menu, however if I paused mid attack, the sounds kept playing, I thought I had bugged the game. I also liked the animations, and the shadowmen have a mysterious and good looking model.

It's a good concept, and surely is a prototype worth development. Nice job :)

Hey look at this by Sugiuro 2017-12-26T01:54:27Z

This was an interesting concept. I gotta say, I was a bit bored at the beginning, before helping one dude with math questions... That was the only guy I helped and it fueled my coding! Didn't help anybody else. Just kept coding with the popups in front of my code... Like a truck going. Unfortunately I did not deliver the project, but those guys didn't get my help either.

Spot on for annoyance! What about a "let me google that for you" mechanic?

The popups were indeed annoying, being on top of my code... But their annoyance fuels my coding rampage! I kept putting zips in my code, wonder why.

Nice game, pretty funny, with a good background music. You just need art, and maybe the possibility to customize the time you wanna spend, 8 minutes did feel a bit long. Overall, great work :)

Also, if you'd like, we'd love if you played ours :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/santas-factory

Pug Pub by MaiMai 2017-12-24T09:35:23Z

Wow, cuteness overload! Loved the art style, "such wow" :P The whole pub theme was really cool, and the music fit really well!

The premise is nice but it does take a little bit long at the start to get more dogs, so it is a bit boring. Maybe that could be adjusted. Also, I know you didn't have time for more gameplay and goals but I really think it's a game worth to keep working on and add those. Maybe the pub could also start to serve food, and you could wait tables, you have to separate chewing toy fights, which all together keeps your hands full :)

The dog breed name beers were clever! Congratulations, great work, I hope you keep working on it!

Xmas: Sorted by Liquidream 2017-12-21T04:54:09Z

This as a really cool game, cute, loved the mood and the gameplay mechanics. In spite of being a simple game, the gameplay is not that easy, being challenging. I loved the art style which matched nicely with the mood and simple feel. I just missed some 8bit sound effects and a Christmas background tune.

Overall a polished and good game, I really liked the sorting mechanic, but I might be biased as in our game we sort Christmas gifs too... Give it a try if you'd like :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/santas-factory

Ketchup Quest - Endless Arcade Fighting to Protect Your Saucy Stash by samboyer276 2017-12-10T12:52:54Z

This was a really fun game, I played it with @vasco-rodrigues and we had such a blast. I was the dog. Was kinda disappointed that the barking didn't really do anything so I was a useless character. Maybe sending enemies away or something, like supersonic barks. This way was just fun the first few seconds and then I just had be rescued all the time without being able to help in collecting ketchup bottles. The ninja was really cool.

I really liked the view of the game, the mix was really cool. We also started pushing boxes off the building.

Great work :)

Virus Detected by NotSpaghettiGames 2017-12-11T20:20:32Z

Interesting concept, well executed and the music helps with the mood.

With a little bit of polish you can have a good game, maybe allow different types of attacks, strategizing where to attack, or even multiplayer so you can infect with a friend. I feel that you have lots of possibilities, and the game already is entertaining, will only benefit from the additions. Congratulations :)

Speed Journey by Kyle Pham 2017-12-09T21:35:08Z

Congratulations on finishing a game on your first LD! Something to be really proud of. The visuals are really funny. I liked the background music but I think it doesn't fit with the whole funny visuals and funny sound effects, so it made me feel conflicted: dark game + funny game.

The jump and the fly didn't really make a difference to me, I used whichever key I pressed first. So maybe try and really differentiate them.

Like the other comments, it was hard to remember what each orb did and having to go back and forth was not ideal.

But overall it was a success for a first game and jam, and all alone! Be proud and don't feel unmotivated, with some improvements your first game jam game can be a cool thing that you will look back to in a few years ;)

Fortress Escape by SpaceMonkey 2017-12-11T09:13:57Z

It seems that you have an html5 link so I could try it :) Usually I don't play Tower Defense, but I was entertained and had fun. The models were cool, and the game ran smoothly and with quality. The dialogue system was really nice, although the first time a segment started, if I tried to click spacebar he didn't go to the next one, maybe because it needed focus?

Things started getting pretty chaotic when I thought I had a good chance, and more and more enemies came and started not being tackled in time by my turrets...

The particles were really cool, and best seen on FPS mode. Also, strangely cool combination of game genres. I started running around not knowing were should I escape to. I went to the middle exit on the other side of the map, dunno if all of them worked? But it would be nice to have the escape possibilities noted, I didn't really know what I was doing. Also those damn turrets, I bought you! :P

I accidentally discovered I could fly when pressing space bar to try and jump... nice xD

Overall really nice game, solid entry, pretty polished and good looking. I don't know if see the theme connection, as a Tower Defense game always has increasing enemies, which is never good lol. Great work :)

AdBlock Doesn't Work! by talisra22 2017-12-26T02:06:28Z

Oh no, a clicker game! Haha the general premise was funny, the video system was really nice to interact with, and the videos + ads... priceless.

My screen was soon swarmed, as I used the touchpad...

Overall really funny game, don't have nothing to point. Congratulations!

Pacific Parkour League (PPL) by alexpritc 2017-12-27T02:43:17Z

Really fun game! However, this is really not the best game for me, I'm so bad at jumping. At every single game. I am so bad. Timing the jumps, etc, bad... Still I liked even though I tried soooo many times.

It's got a good premise, the parkour is a good mechanic. I didn't see the connection with the theme though.

Although I'm not the best, the controls were a bit hard, specially the mouse. I'll give you the same advice that was given to me in my game: lock the cursor in the middle of the window and lock the mouse in the game. Also, maybe hide the cursor too.

I feel like for this fast paced game, some background music was missing. Something with a retro fast paced vibe. Also, some sound effects like breathing and puffing and making effort would add to the experience.

The game will also benefit greatly from the art you create. It doesn't need to be anything too fancy/complicated, but right now it feels a bit empty. Nothing that hurts the game though.

Overall great concept, had fun (in spite of my poor skills), great work. Hope you continue to develop it :)

Penti by DogSquad 2017-12-09T20:16:35Z

Interesting concept, congratulations on your first LD! I did get stuck multiple times on the walls, but I had already read the description so I knew about the bug.

It would be useful to have a Health Bar so you can check your own health. I didn't understand the rule for the orientation of spawning the walls, the enemies also got stuck there and I couldn't kill them. Some control over spawning could help. The sound was cool, it fit with the action. Overall it's a great prototype, not the best of the games of course, but for someone who has never done this it's a great first start. Don't let anything unmotivate you, first time and alone it's bound to be a very simple game with simple looks. But you did finish it, so be proud of that. Congratulations :)

Techno Fever by detectiveLosos 2017-12-10T01:07:17Z

Great game, really fun. Loved the whole retro feel, art and audio. The dance moves were also really rad.

On the final battle, I felt it didn't really matter what I did. I kept being tackled and in doing that the Queen ended up getting hurt most of the times. I couldn't really manage to attack her, so I won not really winning. Also, instead of spamming the same move maybe some key combos with different effectiveness (based on dancer and enemy) could be added to add some variety to the game.

Overall it was fun to play, really short but also polished, which will aloow in expanding if you want to. Congratulations!

Run Guys by arron-fowler 2017-12-09T06:55:14Z

This was so much fun! Such a simple game, yet it kept me wanting to repeat over and over. The speech line between all of them were a nice adition, really fun. The mechanics are simple and I think that's a plus in this game. I felt the mouse follow was a tad slow, made me fell after I didn't start turning early enough. It does get hard to distinguish your character unfortunately.

Overall such a fun game, really loved it, with a few improvrements, art and sound (really missed a good jogging beat and maybe some garbled talking upon friends joining) you might have a mobile winner, like roaring-cat-games suggested. Congratulations!

Run Guys by arron-fowler 2017-12-14T02:49:03Z

@arron-fowler I think an 80's cheesy vibe would be cool. Some suggestions (probably better/easier without vocals): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6cdnxNRnQc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOC9JB4KshM

BoatAfloat by StratosKakalis 2017-12-24T17:05:30Z

Really fun entry! Although simple, it was a light and fun experience, a no brainer that I really needed! Avoiding objects is really the only thing I had to care about and that felt good. The controls were nice, and the response of the boat to them felt like driving a boat should be (I think, I never actually drove one lol). The camera was also smooth.

Although the environment was minimalist, it's not a turnoff. One thing that would probably add some pop to the game would be particles, like water splashing and trails, on a low poly kind of style too.

Maybe a simple background tune during the game would be a nice addition, the main menu one was really cheerful and good. The only thing I have to complain about are the in game menus (pause and lose) as their grey lettering is too hard to read.

Overall good entry, really had fun with it. Congratulations!

Christmas Present by Jons games 2017-12-24T17:57:19Z

Such a great idea, definitely takes the gold in innovation. A great puzzle, interesting gameplay. I for one downloaded your source code and will be checking out how you did the magic. The graphics were cute too.

The only downside was knowing which santas already picked up a present. The more santa's the harder it gets to know who caught already. Don't know if that was really what you intended, in connection to the theme. If not, adding something to identify that would be really nice.

Overall, great game, really innovative, I was really impressed. Congratulations :)

Fast Frontier by Ohmi 2017-12-20T03:05:49Z

Interesting first game! Really solid for your first entry, congratulations. Simple but enjoyable art, good sound effects, maybe missing a background army tune. I also liked the radio interaction.

Unfortunately I come with many bugs... First, while I was still reading the intro panels, my mouse clicking (outside the button but in game) made the tank start to walk forward. It kept walking and going through mines while I was reading the panels, intrigued if this was intended. As I finished the panels, I soon died. Second time, while on the panels, my mouse clicking made the tank walk backwards. By the time I stopped it, it was already flying below the ground with negative meters lol (see image below).

a.PNG

Third time's the charm. All went well, but I felt that adjusting the slider was bothersome while trying to control the tank. The tank also started going backwards once on a more steep part of the ground. I discovered that passing through the tanks did nothing to both of us, which was kinda disappointing. Also, when I let myself die, went to get water and came back, my crew of 5 killed was already on 16 killed, as the enemies were not stopped upon game lost and kept shooting at me, depleting crew lives even though there were none. I can also keep moving the tank after dying.

I know this is a lot but it was a good entry for a first time and alone too, so don't be discouraged and keep working, this was a good work. Congratulations :)

Fast Frontier by Ohmi 2017-12-21T15:48:32Z

@ohmi I played using the touchpad of my laptop :\ Looking forward to your release! Good luck :)

"Savior" by AnnaAD 2017-12-10T15:26:02Z

This was an interesting game. I didn't really care about the people... yeah a little mean but I have to fend for myself lol, so let the monsters have them.

The amount of bullets to kill the monsters was too much and too uncertain. Some better feedback or some individual health bars for each monster might help. Or make the gun a bit more effective.

I did feel the need of some sound effects and background music, it could help with the survival theme.

Great job nonetheless :)

Phool by ciaccodavide 2017-12-09T22:07:00Z

This a really nice game! Very entertaining and fun, easy to play and keep playing. The improvment system was a cool addition.

I really liked the whole feel of the game, I am glad you took the abstract road as its simplicity makes it shine even more. The sounds also fit tightly with that, not being too distracting and helping with the game pace.

Overall great game, fun and interesting. Great job :)

Claustrophobia by Fecalmancer 2017-12-09T21:09:52Z

This was a cool experience, a little trippy but fun nonetheless. I can't see the connection with the theme though.

The effects were really nice, walking on the inside of the sphere. The art really matched the ambience, but sometimes upon being too close to the 3d models their faces got all black. I felt the portals were placed randomly and it was really a lucky shot if you could make it in time. After the first 2 worlds, the game just kept sending me between only two worlds: fast food and pyramid ones. It got kinda boring just going back and forth between them, maybe you need to set the seed to the random? I also would have liked if there was some kind of evolution between the worlds, it was just running between them with no real goal, like seeing more trippy stuff (which can be something cool).

But overall I liked it, it was fun and the spheric world an amazing idea. Congratulations :)

Tiny Empires by Jack Maxwell 2017-12-12T09:54:37Z

I read that the layout/aspect was already fixed so I thought it was, but in itch.io the screen keeps being cut. Also I had my sound so low that I didn't hear the atmospheric sound, until I went again and cranked the volume up (with the same volume I can hear music on youtube).

Some buttons (like end turn) have a pixel font, but the rest of the text is not pixelated. To be coherent you should keep the same stile in fonts. Also, when I click end turn with the shop open, I think the shop should close.

I didn't understand what I needed the iron for? Also, I think to add difficulty the buying price of the resources should be higher than the selling price, like in a real market.

Still it was interesting and well made. Congratulations :)

Tiny Empires by Jack Maxwell 2017-12-15T08:52:16Z

@jack-maxwell I was full screen but maybe it's because of my multiple screens

Forgotten Machines by SaphireS 2017-12-20T03:51:36Z

Great game, loved the 3d pixel art, how did you get the 3d models to look so realistically pixel art? Music helps with the mood too. Good gameplay mechanics, I felt it was easy to control the mecha, however couldn't make it fire while walking around, which makes it harder.

I think the pixel art on the edges/limits of the green ground are way too low res, kinda off from the rest of the look/feel. Also, I can see Unity's skybox where there's no ground limit (to the sides).

Other than that, really liked it, great work :)

Temple Hunt by Toccs 2017-12-24T07:08:02Z

First of all, congratulations on your first game! It was a solid entry, and all by yourself! I feel like it is a good concept that can evolve to something even better. The controls were ok, going up a ramp was hard. It made me jump, and ultimately hit the untriggered boulder and die. That bummed me a little. Maybe having checkpoints could be a good idea. The collisions were also weird, I got stuck to walls when jumping on the big hole and those spiked pits.

The gameplay was simple but the idea is nice. However the randomness of the gold you got doesn't make sense to me. There can be no challenge, depending on how much you luckily pick. Good job on the modelling and texturing, that along with the sound creates a really nice atmosphere.

Also, the guy not having clothes was way too funny :joy:

Overall great job, just needs some fixes to the controls, the gold pickup and maybe give the poor man some pants  Congratulations and don't be discouraged about anything, be proud of your great first creation!

Also, we'd love if you gave our game a try :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/santas-factory

Greed Mania by pcmxms 2017-12-14T01:47:38Z

Haha this was fun! Loved the whole retro feel - I felt like I was playing one of my old shareware cds. The art is pretty simply but good, and so are the little animations. At first I thought the walls where like on snake but then I died xD

Controls are pretty simple and easy too. It's a really great game for 8 hours! I just missed a cool 8bit background music, and was startled by the sound on the beginning, I was wearing headphones. Overall great game!

Don't get drunk by tulipekoni 2017-12-10T17:04:42Z

This was a well made and fun game. The drunk effects were really cool and the art fit nicely with the mood and premise. It also surely fits the theme!

I did not last long unfortunately, I ended up always slamming face against a wall after missing the jump xD

Really fun and polished game, congratulations :)

Too Much Slime! by Kizzyman 2017-12-13T09:28:56Z

It is a nice concept, however a little weird to control. I had problems to try to jump and shoot at the same time, and also why don't the shots affect the enemies? I expected that they did but no effect.

The art is pretty nice and the background music groovy, which fits nicely with the game. Some sound effects would be a great addition. And the slime animation was cool too :)

Also, kudos for creating a tutorial level! However, maybe you should allow the player to first understand the platforming controls and then after that introduce the enemies. The learning curve will be better.

But this was a great concept and I think you created a good base. Some improvements will help the game be even more solid :) Good work!

MONTIS MALI by Willy_Bean 2017-12-09T04:24:17Z

I really liked the mood, the audio really did help in creating it. However I did get to one point where I just kept blocking everything and they fell like I had hit them. Previously it felt a little difficult juggling between blocking and attacking, however after getting tired and trying to keep blocking, it was really easy/simple. Dunno if this is a bug or not. Overall it is a nice concept that I feel that definitely has space to be expanded. With maybe some feedback about the attacks, like previous commenters said. Good job, congratulations ;)

Armed Descent by Acr515 2017-12-10T13:38:34Z

This was a fun game, but it was also difficult. I had trouble pointing to the enemies and killing them. I didn't feel like I could not pick ammo, as I was missing too much in killing them and I kept having low ammo. Maybe have even more available ammo or being easier to kill the enemies would help.

I liked the coin and gun reloading animations, and the enemy AI was well implemented.

Overall nice work :)

SHROOOMS by theloneplant 2017-12-12T09:15:49Z

That was some party! Nice art, the sound effects and music help set the mood. The particles and the color changes were really cool. Did you have a set of predefined colours that you chose from randomly?

I don't have a controller so I just played with the keyboard. The controls were weird and difficult, so if you could improve that it would be a win.

But overall it's a fun game, great work :)

I took too many drugs by Neecko 2017-12-24T08:32:55Z

Great entry, really interesting. The effects were really cool, I think a post about how you did each of them would be really cool, I for one would love to read about it. The theme was spot on, and the mood really interesting and fitting with the theme.

Taking the pills: I soon discovered order did matter. It always got to a point where I tried to pick up but couldn't. That makes the game frustrating but interesting, I think it is a package deal that it is needed. I didn't manage to puck up all of the pills. Also, I was intrigued by the box next to the sofa, I couldn't get it open but it showed as interactible.

Overall, great entry, really good take on the theme and the gameplay. Congratulations :)

Jungle Raider by Torak Whiteleopard 2017-12-20T03:21:44Z

Cool game, loved the art style and the sound effects. Really liked the background tune, but after a while the loop tired me a little. The mechanic/take on theme was a great idea, in spite of getting really hard to jump with the weight. The dead effect is really nice too!

I did feel that using WASD with the Space Bar was not the best choice - it got awkward to control. If you add support to the Arrows I think it will be easier to control the character as this adds an unpredicted difficulty.

Overall really cute, interesting mechanic, spot on and different take on the theme. Congratulations!

LD54 — Limited Space

Plate of War by someoneman 2023-10-19T01:58:07Z

This little guy is so funny! The mechanic to choose the player's colour is simple, but it's nice to see the tinting. The sound effect of the little guy was pretty funny as well ๐Ÿ˜… It was a bit hard to control, with the movements feeling a bit slow, but I think you can easily fine-tune that. The lore behind it was pretty cool, making the mechanic interesting, however it was a bit hard to get the items on the plate. I admit that this is not my usual kind of game, but that I loved the silly cute art and sound effects, so it makes up in that! I'd be interested in seeing how you would expand the game. You already have different weapons and enemies, so maybe expanding on the story/lore would fit the genre. The potential to add more is on the table, so keep up the good work!

Smash & Pack by pndaa 2023-10-20T17:47:53Z

The game has a lot of potential, but could bring a bit more challenge. It's interesting at the start, unfortunately gets repetitive quickly. The art is funny, the voice acting was a nice surprise, but the music got repetitive. The base is there, keep working on it!

One flew over the Poopoo's nest by tiffi 2023-10-20T18:42:00Z

Well, this was unexpected... Of course I ended up killing myself ๐Ÿ˜‚ Pretty fun with the bathroom humour, even though I do wonder what kind of dreams you have to come up with this...

Rootin' Tootin' Zombie Shootin' by EX3D0 2023-10-19T01:05:13Z

The pixel art is super cute, the whole setting is very non conventional with the zombie theme, but that makes it stand out. The player's animation was super fast but it was cute, with his tiny legs :D The song gets a bit repetitive quick, so that could be an improvement. The waves start getting pretty fast paces soon, although a particular zombie was always just chillin' on the other side of the building and I had to go get it lol The shooting zombies are a nice twist, and they make the game hard ๐Ÿ˜… A nice addition could be having a shop building and entering to upgrade your gear. Really cute game, keep working on it!

Astro Miner by Vodzik 2023-10-19T22:54:22Z

A very fun game!

Found it a bit difficult at the start to control the ship, but then I got used to it. Also first I thought I would get the resources by shooting at them, so they just flied away... should've read the instructions.

Maybe the start of the game is a bit slow? Or maybe I should just focus on small asteroids :)

Ghosts by gamebuilder 2023-10-18T21:37:33Z

Your game has a really engaging puzzle and concept, and I felt very immersed in a retro-inspired environment. The map navigation added a cool dimension to the gameplay, contributing to the overall great atmosphere. All in all, I really enjoyed the whole vibe!

Gridlock: A Tiny RTS by Hare Software 2023-10-18T21:45:21Z

Your game really impressed me with the great voice acting, which adds depth to the game's atmosphere. The retro feeling also made me go back in time more years than I'd like to admit haha. One good improvement would be to be able to know the difference between each unit, visually, and in gameplay. It's an overall very good entry, you really have something here!

Space Trucks by digital bacon 2023-10-20T17:57:47Z

Solid entry. The space trucks was an interesting switch. The music was a bit repetitive though, and the difficulty was still too slow, not feeling challenging at all. Keep working on it, maybe adding a progression that is achievement based and not relying on time, and you'll have a banger there!

Hellevator by SgtWeirdo 2023-10-20T18:35:31Z

Omg this just makes me think of my work elevator that is under maintenance every week! Who knows what they're doing inside that is always breaking it?! Maybe I found the answer ๐Ÿ˜‚ The art style is good, but the silly take you had with the game overall takes the win. I think it's a game that sets itself apart from the others with its theme. I think you only need to work on the difficulty progression, the game will be even better!

Packing by Gossian 2023-10-19T01:12:44Z

I'm not gonna lie, this was a bit unsettling to experience. But it was real, and made me feel the stress, fear, despair. The whole mood contributes to this, and I can say you were successful in conveying it. The sound effects, the screen shake, the sluggish way the character moves like in a state of daze... all very powerful. Really well done. I wished it hadn't actually happen.

No Room in Hell by TomatoLamp 2023-10-19T23:10:24Z

As a fan of old school horror games I really liked this one.

A bit tricky to get used to, but pretty fun.

I think I would prefer if the camera didn't follow the player, and was just in a fixed place/direction in each room.

I didn't really understand the use of the candles, since monsters would spawn anyway.

Mechanizyn by Lincolnsalles 2023-10-20T18:23:49Z

The concept of biological experimentation is an interesting base. However, as a game, it wasn't too fun to move as an insect through the rooms... The art makes me a bit uneasy too, I think maybe something more like Duke Nukem or Duke Nukem II would be more fitting, and a nice retro touch. I'm not actually sure it applies to the theme other than the rooms being small, which is not the base mechanic. Good luck in improving it!

Hardcore Packing Simulator by GoldyXEN 2023-10-19T00:37:13Z

The art is pretty cool, though it's a bit difficult to know where you're really clicking ๐Ÿ˜… Sometimes it wasn't easy to grab the items, and I was a bit confused about what was happening at times. You did use the theme in a very interesting way; I believe some tweaks will make it an even better experience!

Escape from the clutches by Anton4ik-dev 2023-10-19T00:56:18Z

Wow, an action fighting game! I think it's the first I've played from a jam. One thing that I felt was that the controls/mechanics are all introduced at once, and shortly after I had already forgotten what they did. I wasn't having much luck in defeating the queen, and after 3 tries I had to call it a day ๐Ÿ˜… The art looked really nice, even though the animations are more like stop motion as opposed to fluid, it's a great effort for the time you had. I'd like to see finished animations with all the frames, it'd be even more cool. The music starts ok but then gets into a very good bangin' vibe. The voice acting is very clear, but it got a bit repetitive. All in all, this is a very solid game with some room for becoming even better. Keep up the good work!

Schrรถdinger's Cat: The Game by Gecko64 2023-10-18T21:28:31Z

Your game really is an interesting idea, being inspired by Schrรถdinger's Cat. I think you could further elaborate on the concept in the gameplay to make it even more engaging. Maybe incorporating a scoring feature for using fewer switches could add an extra layer of challenge? I think your game has the potential to be even more enjoyable with some fine-tuning. Keep working on the idea and keep up the good work!

Red Zone by TheCaptainBuster 2023-10-19T00:30:49Z

It was a bit difficult to find all the fruits, I couldn't get all of them in any of my tries. There also seems to be some unbalance between the enemies, sometimes they needed lots of shots to die, but other times two shots were enough. Still, you have a great base here, keep working on it!
