Nice game! Enjoyed playing it!

simon-stalhandske 2017-12-05 22:19

Nice game. The graphics look real nice and the music really adds to the atmosphere. Was missing some sound effects on the core mechanic but otherwise it felt super nice to bite people, and controller support was very appreciated.

parttimeindie 2017-12-06 16:22

I liked the game, the music and the atmosphere. I do not quite get how it connects to the theme and I was not able to get past the second room (I did not know where to go).

Overall great work :)

maybe 2017-12-06 19:35

PartTimeIndie, well, it 'connects' to the theme although you might not notice it. When you drain victims you may get bad effects, like narcolepsy (the screen blinks from time to time), time may pass slower for you (enemies run faster). We didn't finish the user feedback on this in time, sorry =(

The second room was not finished also, you just fill up your bar and kill everyone, that's the ending, a screen with only you without NPCs

Nice Game!!! I cannot stop playing!!! Nice work,

juancarlosgdm 2017-12-10 17:33

Really liked this game! It's true is unfinished but you got a nice result. Art and audio are so good. I enjoyed playing and when I finished it, I wanted to go to a third screen :)

Probably what you have to improve the most is the game feel for the effects you can get from enemies, since sometimes it's difficult to understand what's happening (for example, with narcolepsy). But really, good job guys!

rplnt 2017-12-10 19:04

Very nice art, the gameplay feels smooth. There are some issue with AIs, fickering (maybe effect I don't get?), and there's no finish state I think. But as I said, the base is very well done and it played well despite the bugs. I really liked the look of the introductory level.

Good selection of music as well :)

michael-silverman 2017-12-10 19:13

Gave it a go, nice pixels and I love the in your face unapologetic tecno music, game play was a little dry but I know time was a factor. I couldn't manage to get the bar full and then there was some clumping of victims. Keep it up!

maybe 2017-12-10 19:16

Thanks for the feedback =D

huvaakoodia 2017-12-10 19:49

Nice graphics and audio. The design is ok and the implementation works, but both are not without issues.

Design first. It is too easy to win at the moment. Takes mere half a minute to gain full power at which point the last semblance of challenge is thrown off the dance floor. The view cones of the hunters are small and they don't move much or work together. Having to wait around in shadows breaking their line of sight before striking would have fit the vampire motif better and intensified the life force draining mechanic.

Then the implementation. As mentioned before (by you!), there is a criminal lack of feedback. I admit, I accidentally (honest, guv!) started playing before reading the description and the negative effects seemed like bugs more than anything. I did find one proper bug though, if you wait around in the lobby and continually attacking the poor tutorial fellow you will gain full strength and cannot enter the party proper. A bit weird that.

Bad in places, good in places... Average!

arturasd 2017-12-10 20:14

The art somewhat caught my eye. I'm a huge fan of pixel art and this one was really really good looking. The game overall looked nice. Little sad that You did not finish it. Really lack of gameplay. This would have been huge if more time was available. Really enjoyed even these 5 minutes! Good job on that. Hope you guys to continue to develop it into something playable!

maybe 2017-12-10 20:22

HuvaaKoodia ( @huvaakoodia ) thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! It is hugely appreciated! There was an initial idea of waiting in the shadows and playing more stealthly, but we made some wrong assumptions about the time required to code everything, even with the little time we took to eat and sleep.

Thanks man =)

lereveur 2017-12-10 20:34

Start situations (and evolution through playing) are a bit too random. Sometimes you get a lot of victims near you and hunters are elsewhere for long time, sometimes it's very hard because hunters are near to you and move in order to block you. As said before, some negative effects looks a lot like bugs, maybe it woul be better to show something (like an icon) to show you're under a negative effect. Except that, I loved the pixel-art and the sound was a mood itself. Good job, and try to finish what you really wanted to do, I'm sure it could be a very good game!

mahalis 2017-12-10 20:54

This is fun! Great music and art, and the gameplay’s challenging (albeit a little unfair for some start scenarios, as others have mentioned); it was really satisfying to finally turn the tables on the vampire hunters. Nice job!

maybe 2017-12-10 20:57

@lereveur Yeah... we worked on the mechanics first and level design was planned to be done later, so we didn't do ANY level design at all.. =( Feedback was planned to be done later as well. Sorry it is our fault that we didn`t manage to really FINISH the game.

@mahalis Thanks for the feedback, good to know you enjoyed it =)

Thanks everyone =D

pell707 2017-12-11 04:28

Nice game! Everything felt really polished, It's a shame there's only one level...

Great job on the jam tho, best of luck! :)

saramartins 2017-12-11 09:28

Nice game, amazing art and animations. The gameplay is a little bit tricky. I discovered that the mouse button lets you attack too, which would have been nice to know as z is not an ideal key when using wasd.

It did feel like a lucky shot as sometimes I got too many huntears near me, making it impossible to advance.

About the music... I understand the choice of the track, being a vamPARTY, but it just really got me stressed hearing it since the beginning, too loud and distractive (I was using headphones and if I was on the lowest level, if I toned it down, I muted the sound). Some sound effects, for when attacking for example, could be a nice little addition.

Overall it was a nice game with a polished look, which will be even better from which improvements you set to make :) Congratulations

maybe 2017-12-11 11:23

@pell707 Thanks =D

@saramartins Sorry for the lack of better instructions, but you can use a Joystick, use the keyboard arrows to walk and even the mouse button to attack. The music was a last minute addition and we didn't calibrated the volume, other thing the time didn't allow us to do. Our goal for the next jam is to actually FINISH the game and deliver something better for the community =) Thanks for your feedback =D

pcmaster 2017-12-11 11:57

Hi! I love your art style. The movement was also ok. What I didn't like was the Z key to attack. Which is, well, right under WASD :) I didn't vote on Sound as you only mentioned CC music. Good job!

svr-audio 2017-12-11 12:49

I've played a LOT of game this in this ludum dare, and I definetely think this is the best pixel art of all, for real it looks amazing, great great job on the art, the music is good, but it too loud imho and I missed some sounds effects, besides that the game is perfect, the concpet is good, controls are easy and the gameplay is really fun, I loved, I would love to see this as a full game, amazing work, good job !

Cara incrivel, um puta jogo, sensacional, a arte esta impecavel, surreal vcs terem feito isso em um fim de semana, coisa de altissima qualidade, parabens, mt legal msm !

maybe 2017-12-11 15:03

@pcmaster Thanks a lot =) Sorry about the Z, but as I mentioned earlier: you can use a Joystick, use the keyboard arrows to walk and even the mouse button to attack. Sorry for not putting this in a more clear way =x

@svr-audio Wow, thanks =x We loved your compliments, the game is actually not 'play ready' at all but we did our best for the jam, as I mentioned on the other comments I replied.

Valeuzão parceiro =D Agradecemos de coração os elogios!

svr-audio 2017-12-11 21:29

De nada cara, o jogo está realmente mt bem feito, impressionante para um jogo feito em uma jam, parabens e tamo junto =p

schu 2017-12-11 21:51

Nice work! It feels mostly complete and it's fun for a few minutes!

pcmaster 2017-12-12 08:40

@maybe, de nada tambem :) O meu rating non e pior porque controls :) Esta eu quem e estupido :D

phaix 2017-12-12 11:08

The Music is great as also the Art. Just the Sound effects were missing a little.

In general its a great game. I just had one situation, where my main character was shrinking, don't know if that was as planned.

maybe 2017-12-12 11:19

@phaix It was planned. That was exactly the theme, the more people you have the more `effects` you get from them. But, because we screwed up our time planning, we didn't have the time to make the user feedback for the effects, so it looks buggy.

Thanks for playing =D

phaix 2017-12-12 13:19

@maybe Yeah, as you seen in my project i also ran out of time ;-) I think just the fade to black was cutting the feedback, as if the character would just have shrinking without the black overlay it wouldn't be that curious.

theloneplant 2017-12-13 08:26

Very well done! Love the music, art, and gameplay. I have one gripe which is that it's hard to tell when the hunters actually notice you. I thought the cone around them was their vision, or an indicator at their direction at least, but they seem to notice you more if people are panicking and if you get close to them. Aside from that it was very enjoyable to go around sucking everyone's blood, and they kept on partying!

mr-madcat 2017-12-15 16:26

Cool idea. I encountered a bug with a person spawning on stage and I killed them and was trapped on the stage afterwards. Otherwise cool little game.

pvtroswold 2017-12-16 19:19

Great complete experience, art and music (the first chord on startup really set the pace!), just great. Thanks for the explanation on the game page, it took me a minute to get the idea, and until then I just thought it was wicked difficult. And it does have a nice challenge to it. Well done!

maybe 2017-12-18 15:02

@mr-madcat sorry for the bug =x we will fix it for the final version we will release on itch.io =D

@pvtroswold thanks for the compliment =D

ddrkirbyisq 2017-12-18 20:01

Hi there! It looks like you've used 3rd party music assets in your entry (and don't have any other audio). **Please OPT-OUT of the audio category** since you didn't create original audio for your game.

From the rules page at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules:

> **You’re free to use 3rd party Artwork/Music/Audio assets, or assets you previously created, but we ask that you OPT-OUT of the respected voting categories (Graphics, Audio).** You can opt-out of a voting category when you submit your game.

That aside, it's an interesting start that's got potential, though clearly you guys were strapped for time. Great sprites! Leaves me wondering what your finished vision for the game would be like!

maybe 2017-12-18 20:26

@ddrkirbyisq Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't even know we could opt-out of the category. I will do that as soon as I figure out where I can do this. ;)

[update] just did it. =)
