Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-08-28T04:15:00
Wow. I've never been able to search for games via locality before! No idea how this was done, but it's fun!

Wow. I've never been able to search for games via locality before! No idea how this was done, but it's fun!
I loved everything about this! Very innovative, music was super, graphics looked stylish. Great theme usage. Good job!
Love it! Perfect theme implementation and it looks great and is fun! Only flaw is perhaps the difficulty ramps up pretty fast!
Fun! I couldn't stop laughing as I thought about the idea of massing huge celestial bodies together. After collecting a hundred or so though I was hoping for something new to happen. :)
Fun to play! Too bad there weren't more levels!
Wow, this was fun! I made it past the spiral slide thingie and then I drowned. Love the music and the big 3D world! Too bad my laptop can't handle it very well!
Thank you Skills641 FinMacd and Altourus for the feedback! Reuploaded with a second binary which uses a bitmap font, which I am suspecting is the problem.
Thank you C_Walden! Haha, the sprites were randomly generated by an app on Android by Tomatic Labs! I'm not to great at my own artwork
Thanks geekygenius for the feedback! Reuploaded the game with libgcc_s_dw2-1 for those who need it! Nomoj is a randomly generated name!
Thanks everybody for your feedback! @4isblack: Thanks, used DrPetter's Musagi for music. I agree the space invaders mechanic is unorthodox. The original idea was sort of a FF1 clone, but I ran out of time to make the battle system, so this happened.
Creative! Using the wings is rather difficult though.
Fun. Minimalistic, great idea! If it had longer words, that would be nice.
Yay fun! Addictive too. I love the music loop!
Would love to have seen this finished more! Looks nice so far
Neat idea. Kind of mysterious game mechanics though!
A page-turner (does that work for Ludum Dare games? It does now)!
I love the music! The game was actually really addicting too, although I had trouble locating far away planets. I really like the way you place units on the planets too!
Really enjoyed the game! Very innovative and nice music too. After a while I wasn't sure when to stop though. The voice commentary was motivating.
Really nice! I eventually got stuck, but what a great idea for a game! Very smooth
Nice job! If only the red city would attack back, but otherwise well done!
I like it! Really good and fun gameplay but I'm not sure how it fits the theme completely. But it was a good game nonetheless!
Great random puzzles! One of the big ones got me though. Either it's impossible or I'm just not seeing it. Oh well good job :)
I like it. Pretty straight forward game. AI is pretty simple
Haha, I like it! The hints are actually really helpful, until you get really close! Made me smile :)
I like the 3D effect!
Nice one. I'm tempted to replay just to see the game develop again. The music does set a nice atmosphere!
Very innovative! I love the commentary from the talking phone!
I love the idea and the execution. It's pretty to look at and sleek in design. Only I seem to not be gaining any points. Maybe I'm just bad at it!
Fun! Too bad there's no sound, but graphics look great and gameplay is smooth and enjoyable.
Everything about this game is smooth and nicely done! It feels and sounds suspiciously like the Game Boy Camera juggling minigame, but so much better!
Fun game! Not my cup of tea but overlooking that very well done! Loved the retro graphics
This reminds me of Hero Core by Daniel Remar! Very simplistic but well done. I'm not sure how this fits the theme, but it's still fun. :)
Love the graphics and unique mechanics! The crawlie thingies were well done and sufficiently creep-tastic! Good job!
It feels like a gameboy game! Speed up button ftw!
This one is very addictive and fun. The music was great as well. :)
@hadesfury: thanks for your feedback, could you say which dll?
Oops, the original upload was missing data files! Link is fixed! Thanks again hadesfury
@rabbit: It works fine for me. I don't need a DLL. Which one is missing? For future reference
@jojocanard & @hammers: thanks for the feedback! Note to self: less stripping & skimming the EXE next time. Download should work!
Yay it works! Thanks for the feedback @everyone. @the31: well the original idea was to magnify the area around the player so as to maximize screen space and fit the theme. But due to time constraints the goats are a remnant of that. Collision detection was last minute stuff too.
@TriSquare: How come you can't play it? Okay so added a build with a bitmap font, which I suspect is part of your problem!
Yay this was fun. The scenery + night/day cycle was pretty to look at whilst destroying waves of falling things!
This is a most clever use of the theme! Fun, but eventually I gave in to sheer complexity! Good job :)
Fun little adventure! :)
Yay this is so cool!
I love this. It's very addicting. The idea is humorous as well.
This is really innovative! Multiplayer was unexpected but really fun!
Nice idea, good innovation. But yes, controls are a bit unwieldy :)
Very innovative! The health + ladders + baddies element really mixed up the game genre and made it more tricky! Fun to play :)
Really great atmosphere! Music and graphics were great and worked well together, and the gameplay was unique and satisfying.
Wow, nice polish, fun & creative design. Solid job & good humor to boot.
Wow I wish my pitiful laptop could handle this game! It's really a very pretty thing to see. I love your interpretation of the theme as well.
Nice! Just wondering... is the music your work as well? Anyway, good job.
Hey nice! It's a shame you couldn't implement all the features, as this was fun while it lasted! The yes/no feature really fit the theme well, and the music & graphics had a really fun and light atmosphere. Good job!
Hey thanks for playing. The player has two options, displayed at the top of the screen, he can spin for a random move, or press X to move in the direction decided by the computer. You can't decide directly where to go, you just have to take the "better option."
Loved everything about this one! From the amazing visuals and unique and fun mechanics to the aw(some?)ful puns, really fun game.
Very impressive! Wow
Haha nice. Only complaint is sometimes I don't think it's possible to win... fun though!
Wow! Amazing! This is probably my favorite LD 34 entry so far. I could see myself playing this one just for fun in the future. Very creative, loved the music as well.
Hey nice job! :)
Nice idea. But I couldn't jump to the first platform always? Looks cool though
Wow this is really an intricately designed creation! Really digging the grooves and the artstyle. Good job! Btw I got a score of 2628 :)
Nice job!
Fun game!
Gotta love a good shooter. Solid entry.
I think if the atmosphere weren't so immersive (love the sounds) it would be a rage quitter! Great job.
I like it. It felt like an immersive RPG, which gets points from me, and the graphics and sound were nice. The gameplay maybe could use some tweaking though for more difficulty. Other than that great work!
Nice one! Very innovative. The human voice sound effects and increasing speed of the music (was I imagining that?) made you feel rushed. Good job
I came for the cotton headed ninny-muggins. I stayed because this was a unique idea for a game. I liked it!
Wow where to start with this one... I wish there were a save feature because I could actually see myself coming back to play it again. The sound and graphics and overall smooth gameplay made this very atmospheric. I loved the 'difficulty' system and the bots' personalities and everything. Good job mate
Aw kewl! This is actually real neat. If there were resource limits this could be challenging and more fun. Nice job! (P.S. I know the compo isn't technically over yet)
@tr0ma Haha I like this one! Well balanced and fun too
Nice shmup! (Stage 3 was hard)
Very nice concept! I'm not surprised the art is super, haha, and I loved the mixture of danger/reward! Very polished and I'm sure if there were more time it would be great!
I at first thought I didn't like this game, but after giving it another shot, trying to conserve energy, I think I underestimated it, because it is actually really challenging, especially toward the end. But it is kind of addictive! I was going to critique the momentum physics, but actually it works for this game. But yes, it is pretty tough!
I liked the plot, the increased difficulty, the fact it was a finished product, and also of course the screaming berry bushes ;)
Hello everyone! Thanks, I have been reading your comments (and play+rating your games!) and this weekend I was feeling like making a post-compo version of the game.. I took into account your major points and fixed up the intro screen as well as the dynamic music system.. Of course you should still play the official compo version for rating purposes, but if you want you can play the updated version at the top.. Thanks!
This was a joy to play... I loved the dramatic start sequence, the somewhat unpredictable enemy movement, complete with two boss fights. Lots of personality and energy for sure
Great game. Nice to see a good ol' 3D platformer. The puzzles were fun, yeah the one in the screenshot stumped me at first, haha. Controls & mechanics were pretty solid on my part.
Nice! "Snorlax... he's coming!" I don't think that's what it was but I couldn't unhear it. Definitely felt very dramatic and pretty to look at, unfortunately my poor pc couldn't handle it very well but good job!
I like it, I'm pretty sure I probably died a whole lot but I like it.
This game has its own feel to it, and I like it. The music and graphics/animations were sneakily well done, and charming, though the game got real hard at the spike-wall section. Overall I liked it, good work.
I agree with everyone, the atmosphere is very well done and effective. The music fit perfectly as well as the graphics, and I kept feeling a rather dark, horrifying, undertone throughout the story.. creepy! :) I think that's my favorite part, too. The story was interesting, effectively expressed, and fun to discover! And I can't not mention the pellet mechanic, which was really innovative.. A more memorable LD game, IMO.
So so cool, @Tasty! I had to say a kind word back at you.. Wow, the moment the game paused to show me the solution was like an 'aha' moment, seeing the so so cool sequence path like that. Really unique and also of course, fun to play! Good work!
Ok any game where you literally ram a spaceship headlong into a star in order to destroy it, I mean.. nice work, I would have liked perhaps a bit more power per star, but overall fun game!
This was fun! I'm not sure I completely understood the power mechanic, but maybe if the game could have been fleshed out a bit more.. Nice job though
What hasn't been said already? Really great game-- actually challenging and fun, well done! One thing I love, that you did completely perfectly, was mixing punishment/reward.. "When you have nothing, you risk everything." That's actually rather profound, and makes for a compelling gameplay policy. Also the art was pretty, so that's a thing. Nice game!
Hey there, nice job! From startup you get the sense of urgency (being called lieutenant, the countdown..), which creates a unique atmosphere. But it still feels like a video game, especially with the 8-direction movement system and (nice) pixel work.
My only criticism is the game seems unbalanced. If you keep shooting and using the super blast, the challenge doesn't seem overwhelming. Other than that, great job!
Nice job!
This game is more fun than BUBBLE WRAP! haha, but seriously, probably one of the most amusing games I've played so far. I feel rather encouraged and happy after a good session aswell. Nice job!
Good job!
Between the music, the shark-man model, and the flying debris, the mood of this game was amusing. With some platforming and more fleshed out gameplay this could be fun.
This is the sort of thing that people actually have to deal with on a daily basis! Those poor souls ;) It's probably the cleverest interpretation of the theme I've seen so far, but I couldn't get a perfect result. Nice work
Gotta love a good shooter.. Nothing major to complain about, solid physics, etc., which is great. For a first game especially, fine work.
Perfect! Clearly a labor of love! Really clever, a unique take on the old action adventure genre, probably one of the more engaging and puzzly games! I love how natural it feels gameplay-wise to explore the world with the different robots and how ultimately your work is retained, giving you the feeling of progress. Good work
Hi, good job! First off, I liked the graphics and music!! So with some varied AI & a tad bit more difficulty this would be much improved. Fine work for a first LD!
I liked the artwork!
Yay fun! This is a pretty satisfying experience, with nice crunchy graphics, sounds, and solid gameplay, and I enjoyed reading the texts every time you get a mushroom! Nice job
Hey, wow there aren't any comments yet. This is actually really cool. I love the mixing of punishment/reward.. Creating new platforms while also creating an energy orb according to your current power was rather clever. Really not much to say except restarting the level was a bit tedious, haha but well done
Nice art style, and I like the sword fighting. I found that if you go up to someone and let them start their attack, then quickly back up, then you can go in for the kill, so I did that a lot, ha. I wish there was some sound but since we're not voting on that it doesn't matter. I really liked the look and feel of this one.
Nice artwork! And one of the clever-er takes on the theme so far.. It was tough learning how to not grab all the things, but once I did, everything made sense. Kind of a charming atmosphere, and fun game! My one complaint is the platforming, as I got the "oh no!" message more than once when landing on a just-out-of-view platform. Anyways, generally a great game, pleasant experience! Nice work!
Take my job? Pff. You just try, little floaty holo-face thing! ...This game was, for whatever reason, kind of mind-blowing. Honestly, it's perfect. I do not have any complaints. The AI wasn't really annoying, in fact it seemed rather necessary, as the game itself didn't have (as a puzzle game perhaps ought to be), a really potent atmosphere.
That said, the nuances were spot-on. The textures (of which there were very few), kept the eye pleasantly interested, full stop. All the art was very clear and added charm to the experience, without ever feeling unnecessarily overbearing (that may apply to the game in general). The sounds had a certain vibe to them. They sounded like they were made with someone's voice/mouth, not that it's a bad thing.
The puzzles were very well done, and the various added elements were mostly intuitive. The yellow arrows were the least clear mechanic, but it just took one click to see what they really did.
Now, about that 'hidden ending..' It was mentioned, and I tried my best to find it. My guess is it's not in the game, but in the cutscenes somewhere. That's because I played through more than once without a single mistake (after many failed attempts, of course!), hoping to find it... but alas, no luck.
Ha, anyhow, for a weekend jam, really excellent job, and a rather enjoyable little puzzle game, with a human (AI?) element that made it feel more meaningful. (even if I did lose my job!)
Very promising. Your team obviously has something going, maybe just direct it toward a more complete product and I'm sure this could be a really engaging and atmospheric experience!
Muawahaha! I love how well this works with the theme, and the idea of SPHERICAL mail packages has made my day! The physics were perfect
Nice music, nice graphics, nice concept, nice.
Hoo boy, this one has personality. I'm usually not one for orphan humor, but I have to say good job on the story and opening cutscene! I liked the 3D models, especially the main character and the mustache-d orphans/babies. Quoting a previous commenter, I too would like to confiscate each the entire city's citizens' license to drive!
I really liked the cutscene/story in the beginning. It also served as a tutorial, and worked very well. I agree the atmosphere was really calming and nice. And maybe if the game were a tad more complicated with some abilities or extra threats even. A nice game to play!
As soon as I got my second hero, I knew exactly how the game fit the theme. It got hectic real fast, and I was almost my worst enemy! Haha, I loved seeing the new heroes and their new attacks as well. Very nice work!
Hoo boy, this game is pure delight! I agree with the pilot's expression, concerned that he might drop all his buddies and have to go collect them again! And I love how they all look so happy when you get them to safety.. It was hilarious grabbing all the guys in a big chain like that, and it also made it rather difficult in some cases.
In certain tight areas I opted to bonk into the wall and drop the guys so I could just grab one at a time. This was fun, and really fun to play, also the helicopter controls were kind of unique and took my brain a bit to acclimate to (not sure I'm very good at it still). Great work!
Nice jamz!!1
Hey good job. Can't go wrong with a good overhead shooter. Nice theme implementation, I found myself wishing for levels or an endgoal, also sounds.. but nice job!
Uuuuuuggggh. Well done.
Oh my goodness, this is probably my favorite game so far this LD! Beautiful artwork, super innovative idea, perfectly implemented.. I did feel like the bouncey blocks (?) seemed a bit random, I couldn't get consistent behavior, but that's probably my fault. Anyway, very pleasant game, all the way through.
Top notch atmosphere and especially artwork. There's something here I think all us game dev peeps can relate to, completeness and a sense of things being like they're supposed to. This game seems like quality work. Also I caught a squid with a fishing rod. It was 54kg (which I am assuming is a lot, because I'm a dumb American). Great job!
Ok wow, the engine noise. Nice car physics, It was satisfying to get better at taking turns after a while.
Ok wow, the engine noise. Nice car physics, It was satisfying to get better at taking turns after a while.
Oo, very pretty. To listen to and to see. I really enjoyed the music and sfx, nice. Good take on the theme as well. Would have liked to see more.. eh, something. Anyhow, very interesting atmosphere. Great job!
I liked this, the cutscenes were really endearing, and I wish it was this much fun to find stuff packed away in real life... loved it!
EDIT: Also, fumbling with the controls a bit felt realistic as well, haha, rummaging through boxes shouldn't be super smooth!
This was great! I loved the humor, the decision making element, and the music was pretty alright, too.
Sweet tunes! Really gets you in the basting baddies (or not?) mood! Really an interesting twist on a old idea. The distinct option to avoid, and specifically not shoot, the enemy is a unique dynamic I think. The 3D environment and geometric shapes were pleasant to look at as well. Good job!
Great complete experience, art and music (the first chord on startup really set the pace!), just great. Thanks for the explanation on the game page, it took me a minute to get the idea, and until then I just thought it was wicked difficult. And it does have a nice challenge to it. Well done!
I'm a sucker for some sawing space fiddle.. so good job on the audio (the sound effects, also good job). Top down shooters are always in fashion, and procedural content is certainly a plus (Kind of a weird comment here: the menu-ing felt really solid... nice menus!).
Would have liked to play this!
Those poor dancing paragliders... my ears are doing fine, though, due to the crunchy tunes of this game. I love seeing what people come up with!
What man (sheep dog), if he has 100 sheep and one gets lost, will not go after the one? Haha, that felt appropriate somehow. Anyway, I reeally liked the sheep mechanics. At first it seems overly simple, but as others have pointed out, the sheep will kind of assemble, then spread out for 'elbow room,' or they have a personal bubble. Their movement is a little bit complicated, which is nice! I was happy to see you could scare away the foxes also.
I only have a couple things: the HTML5 seemed a bit laggy on controls, and I wanted some sort of new element to be added, I dunno, like maybe a run/fatigue system. But those are minor, this is really a unique idea, well done, and great art! Nice work!
Good job creating a game! I was going to say I really liked the art and music.. Well, anyhow, everything felt pretty solid, no major bugs. However, I noticed you could really get some air by jumping while on top of ramps. As others have said, some level variety would really boost the feel of the game, but it certainly had a great vibe.
These bored little birds keep dying, because I'm too busy opening my boxes over here. This is really very well done, I really liked how they would dance about or various other animations. As others have said, having more of an end goal would make it even more enjoyable! Great work!
Very impressive! Very few games have this level of intricately complex mechanics. It took me over half an hour just to finally get a grip on exactly what was happening. Actually I managed to completely succumb to darkness first, because I was so convinced I was going to get a level up or something, ha.
I kind of like the "here you are, figure it out" kind of feeling, although I wouldn't have complained if the mechanics could have been explained (or just demonstrated). But for a 48 hour compo, that's a minor issue, well done.
Honestly I don't know how you two managed to put so many unique ideas into a single entry (like the enemies entering objects), but on top of that, the progression of the game kept it interesting, and of course great job with the art and music. It really set the mood (kind of reminded me of Threeside?) Nice job!
EDIT: Oh and a side note: I managed to succumb to darkness and beat the game (?) at the same time, I think? Not sure if that was intended?
Nice one! Unique idea and well executed! The art was endearing to the characters, (poor things).
Ok top points for audio, just because I heard myself imitating all the vocalizations when I hit stuff (which I did a lot of). Also humor. But seriously, this was fun! I think I managed to ski most of the beginner course unknowingly backward (before drinking), but after getting a handle on the controls, this is a solid game.
No bugs or anything major to complain of, everything felt smooth and well done. Also, this is the second submission which featured alcohol, I find it interesting that the theme made people think of drink, ha but Great Job!
Those. Dang. Eeeelves! Could have used more forewarning for the elves, sometimes I would just die, inexplicably. But other than that, I think I got like 7 on my best go. I loved the music and the crunchy drums, it was very challenging, with so many different threats at once.
Powerups were actually useful (especially the Star of Bethlehem), and the art was really pretty to look at. Nice touch with the "distant/behind a wall" version of the music. I really wanted to beat it, but those elves! Haha, I had fun, so good job!
This game is bursting at the seems with energy. I'm not completely sure what I just played, but I know it was fun! Nice music too
**Pros:**
•Fits the theme well
•Crazy graphics effects
**Cons:**
•Would have liked an end goal (other than getting shwasted)
Nice 3D graphics, was really smooth!
Fun! I felt like a ninja! Using mouse for player movement is a distinct choice here, but you can't go wrong with 3D graphics and sword-ing dudes!
I agree about controls, but good job here! I like the take on the theme.
I dunno if I just got lucky, haha, before too long I had a good base (with turrets everywhere like a space porcupine, ha) and none o' them pirates were really doing too much to my base. After a while I couldn't build anything, even though I had $.. I assume I reached some internal limit (?). Anyhow, great job, I had fun!
EDIT: oh and yes, as others have said, I loved the comments from the baddies!
Hey, nice one! I was sold at the cutscene/intro! Naming the characters made them even more endearing, and nice touch with the random names (my first random villain name was Hungrix, and I couldn't bring myself to change it)! Sound would have been really sweet, but what I really like is how you decided "the more you have" could be either too MUCH or too LITTLE! That was clever. Great work!
I love the creativity of LD games! Coins as obstacles, ha! Great job.. unfortunately despite the amazing font my FPS were pretty un-amazing. Great work otherwise!
Nice, innovative puzzle game concept. Things started getting hard around 1-9, and I made it to the end. As others have said, everything was very well done and polished. It even felt professional, so props! I would have liked some more tightly crafted puzzles, because I felt like I was almost just hopping around, hoping things would work out. However, to create 16 puzzles and a game over the weekend, well done! Definitely a fun game, and the core mechanic of accumulating more of yourself is very unique! Great work!
Nice! I had to replay it a few times to see all the characters, ha. The art was cool, especially the style you went for, well done... I really liked the effects as well! Gameplay was solid, obviously it was pretty easy.
My favorite part, personally, may just have to be the music, hehe (I might have to check out this 'chiptone' you speak of).
I appreciate that the boss' bullet pattern is actually avoidable, so I can see why you wouldn't implement health points, because it's actually quite a challenge!
This is fun! Rather relaxing feel, except for when you're desperately trying to reach the port before you get pirate-d!
Very innovative idea, letting the player choose the speed of gameplay elements. Appropriate for the theme. Loved the character sprite & animations. Missed having some music or visual atmosphere, maybe in the style of that green dude! Great job!
I can't believe it took me this long to return the rating/comment on this game, I like the trade-off between your health/money, interesting concept. Naming myself made life feel so much sweeter (I'm a real boy)! I like the additional stats added in the post-jam. But it would have been nice to have more commands to utilize them more (e.g., "talk to manager"), to give you more control over your situation, or just to make you feel like you have, heh. Anyhow, I like what is there, it looks promising! Good job
Hm.
Interesting game, sort of a genre mash-up, in a good way! Nice art too.
I liked the mood, the music was calming and the mechanics felt really smooth. I wasn't completely sure what to do, but I picked up 35 yellow ones and things got real hectic.. I liked the rolling physics, maybe if there were just a little more explanation or a hint, but good job otherwise!
You big troll, you. Haha, after I 'got it,' this was actually kind of hilarious (and frustrating). Choosing your own punishment is certainly unique, good job! I had to of course quit the game by turning off the graphics, first.
It's easy at first, then ramps up pretty quickly. It's kinda funny that technically nothing hinders you from continuing to run madly along the rooftops, (as you do) except that wicked drunken haze, which was well done. Music was short but sweet! Nice work!
Hehe, this was kind of fun, learning how to roll the stone correctly. I would have liked some friction personally, (actually a vertical velocity & horizontal velocity meter would have helped visualize the mechanics of rolling from a player's perspective (I kept over-correcting)), but all-in-all, even if it was slow, pretty solid rolling physics, I must say. ;)
This feels like a small masterclass on how to create scenes in game development. Obviously a lot of work went into the graphics and presentation, as well as music and sound. Lovely game!
Nice work! I didn't know it was the Gameboy's birthday... cool. I liked the sort of procedural graphics feel within the confines of the limited display.
This is an example of a well thought-out game with good balancing and lots of details to get invested in! Especially for a game jam. It feels very solid as an RTS, and I really loved the punctuation of seasons and years. I didn't have too much trouble on difficulty setting #1. But I switched to #3 I think, and lost almost immediately the first go round. Faith as a mechanic is definitely interesting, and gives the game depth. Obviously this is a small set of variables to factor into how faith works. It's fun as a mechanic, and very well implemented. Nice work!
Ok I probably just spent like 30 minutes playing, and I really like it a lot. What helped me was when I realized each planet has its own type of resource. I love how the scale of things rapidly increases, making you watch what you spend so you don't get stranded. I think I got a vague idea of what some of the buildings did, e.g., 'extractors' and 'observatories.' But I wasn't sure. I had fun though!
The art style is very good, platforming is good too, maybe could use a bit of polish for jump and attacking. Nice job creating a whole story and characters!
Nice work. Depth perception was kind of difficult to wrap my head around, but cool little game!
Hey nice work! Got some good ole Oregon Trail vibes. This got unexpectedly deep actually. At first I resisted the mysterious man, but after several failed attempts I decided 'what-the-hey,' and accepted. Interesting take on the theme, and, may I say, life in general? (I also poked around at the code hehe)
Bra! vo! I kept wanting to play more, even though I also kept dying a lot. I liked the moon-walking ability too.
Haha I loved the story, and the sense of humor! Great artwork as well, and nice music as well. A fun, complete experience! Nice work
Maddening, frantic, unsafe. A very unsafe game, if I may say so. Standing still gets you shot. Hiding only works until something appears behind you or barriers burst. Attacking enemies is time consuming (oh my goodness, will you grab the block already, do you even see the incoming bullets?) and risky.
The control scheme is unique. And I'd have thought all the original arcade-style game button layouts had been taken by now. The art was fun and effective (I enjoyed the animations especially). Loved the music. Great job.
Edit: Oh and how could I forget to mention just how smooth as silk the controls/mechanics/UI are? Pure joy to operate this creation.
At first I didn't realize the text/essay wasn't your original work, and was impressed. In contrast with the last commenter, the subject matter did strike home with me (more so; as a Christian I can't say it hit the mark exactly either). I especially enjoyed the continuing narrative mixed in with the parallel 'gameplay,' and the divergence with conventional wisdom which assumes the 'super-natural' is actually 'super.' However, as also noted by others, I'm not sure I can really praise that as your own work...
Anyhow, I'm not usually one for text adventures, but this being one, gameplay was smooth as silk and very intuitive. Any issue I had was not at all to do with bugs or difficulty in interaction with the UI or whatever. Actually, the only issue was after getting the orb.
Kudos on contributing in a unique way, with a good playlist going in the background this was an interesting and unexpected path/adventure to go on.
