Woah-ho-ho! Nice! Probably one of, if not, my favorite. Nice job with the art, I love it. The waves are really nicely made, and all the subtle effects really add to it.

Woah-ho-ho! Nice! Probably one of, if not, my favorite. Nice job with the art, I love it. The waves are really nicely made, and all the subtle effects really add to it.
I think this is my favorite game I've seen for this Dare. Very nice job! I especially love the animations.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I'll be sure to keep your criticisms in mind next time. Also, BoneDaddy, I don't think I've seen that error in my life. :T
Thanks again for the feedback, everybody! I am reading and considering each and every comment. Mr. Bungle, every time you reach ten gems, if you aren't at full health, you lose those ten gems and gain a heart. I did notice the stuttering as well; I'm not sure what causes that.
All jumps are possible. About the 'devoid of enemies' thing, I never thought I'd even have time for checkpoints. Those were just a quick oh-man-add-this-in feature. I didn't really have time to respawn all the enemies. Thanks for your criticism though.
***PLEASE READ
Loneshark, actually, you were right. One of the last jumps on Level Four is not possible. Sorry for making false claims.
This game took about a minute to display anything other than a black screen. When I started playing, I immediately became frustrated by the enemy bullets that were coming from BEHIND me without any explanation. Even adding a sentence into the story like 'Often the enemy sneaks behind you when you're not looking' would've made it at least bearable. Also, it doesn't seem like you really brought anything new to the table. It seems like a typical space shooter with upgrades.
I like the idea, but this game is really hard. :P Maybe it's just because I'm way too tired, but I couldn't pass the third level. Nice work, though. I like the tiny bit of humor in the beginning. :P
I didn't quite get how you were supposed to pass the levels. Like, I tried pulling planets into their respective white circles, but I'm pretty sure there's something I'm missing. So I passed about 13 levels. I do like the fact that there was no music though, it kind of makes you focus on the puzzle without being distracted. Also, some of the levels can be passed by doing nothing. :P
Also, nice work getting so many puzzles finished in such a short time period! :D
The controls seem a bit awkward to me, and the game has kind of a weird learning curve. Other than that, it's a nice implementation of an old idea. :) Nice work!
It's a nice idea, but not a very fun one. The objective isn't made obvious in-game, and honestly it feels like if I spent the time to find the right flight it would basically be like traversing a maze.
It's a good idea, but the way the graphics and worlds were displayed was kind of confusing. The game was fun for a few minutes, but it seems to be mostly left to chance.
Thanks for letting me know. I only have Windows systems. :/ What exactly prevented it from running?
@clofresh - Thanks for letting me know! :D
@CogentInvalid - Thanks for the comment! I was definitely having trouble with the collisions. :P The movement was originally about half as slow, and then I realized 'Wow, this is way too slow'. :P
Maybe I'm blind and/or stupid, but I can't even find the finish. I touched all the icons in the level and nothing happened. Anyway, the game seemed fun, an actual test of skill, although the enormous lack of friction was kind of frustrating. The no-friction also was a good thing though, because it forced you to plan ahead, since there was no way to turn around if a planet was heading your way.
It's not mentioned once that you have to press Enter to make a new ball. Also, I don't know if there's supposed to be anything other than Pong, but I can't find it other than the few lines at the very beginning.
I like the idea, although the plugs are all on the same path as I would've normally taken, so they don't really add much to the game. The red lines are your typical avoid-these-obstacles. The idea is given that the only way to lose is to touch the red lines, but when you fall off a platform, "Oops!" You die for no obvious reason. The platforms also blend with the background. On the bright side, the art is FANTASTIC for a game made in 48 hours. (I especially love the Internet guy at the end of Level 1 :3 ) I also like the platforming situations you put the player in, though the learning curve was a bit steep. Needs some work, but otherwise, it's a good game! :D
This is by far my favorite entry I've played so far. :D I absolutely LOVE the idea of the Ancient Eyebrows, and the game itself just looks silly, in a good way. I also liked how you told a story while at the same time teaching the player the nature of the enemy's attack patterns. It's hard to move around and attack, which is kind of frustrating when you're trying to dodge the enemies jumping at you while still getting a hit on them. Over all, very nice game! :D
I didn't get the chance to build the entire spaceship, so if there's anything past that, this comment doesn't count for those parts. The game was alright, but there wasn't much variety or will to keep playing. What I DID like was the way the pieces stuck the the player. If you'd designed a mechanic around that, like maybe the player had to rotate a certain way if he had a piece stuck to him and he was going through a small area.
It was a fun game overall, though there didn't seem to be an obvious goal to work towards, or really any explanation about how the system works. Selecting options in the menu is opposite my arrow keys, also. (I push Up, the selector goes down)
I like this game! You did a nice job setting the mood with the player being a silhouette, the setting being night, and the music. Although the mechanic was common in this jam, I like the way you used it. I especially liked the jumps where both players had to be on the edge, and also the part where you have to kind of have to ascend with the top character. I was disappointed it was so short, but otherwise, it's pretty good! :D
I'll be honest, I didn't expect this game to be so much fun from the screenshots. It was, though! The graphics are great, the game mechanic itself is great, it was fun to see what a new attack did. Well done!
Pretty good! I actually found this fun enough to play for a while. Although I usually don't care for scores, this is one game I believe needs them. Also, the depth-of-field effect where the objects farther from you are blurred was really nicely used. It just seemed to fit well with the game. Also, not sure if it's a bug, but my mouse was hidden, so I had to spam click around until I hit the play button. :P I really liked the "fighting on a sphere" mechanic, although I died multiple times from going onto the top of the sphere and getting stuck in a loop until I figured out how to escape. Also, it doesn't really seem to suit the theme. Great game, overall. :D
It seems interesting, but it wasn't explained how to toggle between regular and poisoned samples, so I had to do the button-mash-until-it-happens thing. Anyway, it was actually pretty fun, but difficult.
This game is amazing! The concept is genius, the graphics are beautiful, and it was really fun to play! I don't usually give such positive reviews, but you did an excellent job. You should be proud. :)
(My only complaint is that there aren't more levels :P)
While the idea is nice, I feel like a lot of things could have made this better. For example, when I was first starting, I began hitting the monsters with the laser, but there was no feedback telling me I actually did any damage. The fact that it takes a bunch of hits doesn't help, either. I did like the atmosphere, though. Very creepy. :)
I like the concept of pushing/pulling the block as your weapon, but it was a bit frustrating because of how difficult it was to aim. Also, for some reason, the music wasn't obnoxious, despite its very short loop. So nice job of whatever mind tricks you played there.
I really like the idea, but there wasn't really any challenge in the game, the way you executed it. It was mostly walk-around-and-take-pictures-of-these-green cubes. Like I said, great idea though!
The first thing I noticed was that the cooldown time for the fire weapon was *way* too long. It resulted in 70% of my time wandering aimlessly, waiting for the heat to go down so I could launch my next shot. Also, the big green blocks didn't seem to hurt me (and weren't very smart >.>)
The idea is nice, but doesn't seem to fit too well with the theme. The graphics are messy, and the game has lots of tiny glitches. :/ I liked the music, though! :D
Didn't seem to be a goal in the game, but I like the art. (Though the animations could use some work :P)
I actually had a lot of fun playing this game. Nice job! It was really enjoyable to take out an entire room of enemies by myself with just a knife.
The concept is great, and I would love to see this expanded upon. Great work overall!
It doesn't seem to have much to do with the theme. :/ Also, after clicking Retry, my little white attack slash was frozen in place, and when it touched enemies, it insta-killed them. So I was basically invincible. It was satisfying, though.
While it's sort of difficult to click the smaller planets, the idea was really cool. :D I also really love how you learn the controls through the menu! Your attention to detail was also nice (the moons orbiting the planets, etc) Good job!
The collisions were a bit weird, but a good game overall. I like the art.
I don't know exactly what this has to do with the theme, and honestly I wasn't sure what exactly was going on when I played it at first. It wasn't immediately obvious that Z was a melee attack for a while. Also, the enemies were very jumpy in their movement, which made it feel unfair when they suddenly changed direction and got a hit on me. Good for your first in 12 years, though :P
Awesome concept. :D It was really hard to think of new words constantly, though, so the difficulty curve was interesting, because it was based on how fast you could think of words. Great game!
Nice! It was definitely interesting to make a sword. Good work. :)
This game is really fun, but it also really slow and not challenging after the first few minutes. I tried your suggestion and letting humans running away, but it didn't seem to work. :/ Great game otherwise, though! I love the art!
Wow, this is really great! Probably my favorite game so far! The art and sounds are both great, and I love all the little details in the game. The NPCs seem pretty complex and interesting, which I found awesome. (though I wish my vampire minions wouldn't walk straight into the sun XD). Just a great game overall, though I did feel like a bigger reaction would be appropriate when others saw me feed. :) Very nice!
Interesting mechanic, pretty repetitive. Mostly seemed a waiting game, not really that difficult.
A good game, but it's pretty difficult to aim at people to possess them, and the controls feel a bit strange and slow.
Very fun to play, although the giant was pretty frustrating. Also, I have no idea what the white orbs did.
Awesome game! This is great! It was fun, looked beautiful (I loved the effects after you beat the boss :D), and sounded great too! My only complaint is that YOU ENDED THE GAME RIGHT THERE. WHY.
Nice idea, but I didn't really understand what was going on or my goal. (Also my entry had a similar idea if you wanna check it out #ShamelessSelfPromotion) I did really like the art and the design of the different creatures, though!
Pretty good, although I wish hell mode didn't come until later. I didn't even get to test my skill! (Seriously, I got to hell mode on my first try and without jumping). Nice job otherwise!
I love this! Every new screen made me smile, and I was pretty disappointed when it ended. Great idea, great execution, great job! :D
An interesting idea, but it feels pretty difficult. I liked being able to see where I was clicking at the end. I like the minimalist aesthetics and design, they work well together. Good entry :)
This was a neat game. I liked the masking effect you did with the spaceship and the HUD. Gameplay probably could have been more polished, but it's good how it is.
This was great. Everything is really well done, and it's super funny. Awesome job!
The gameplay isn't exactly original, and it seems like you forced it to fit the theme. But otherwise, everything else is pretty well done. Good job :)
I really loved this game! The mechanic is really interesting, it's fun to figure out puzzles. The art is nice and cute. Really enjoyed this one. Maybe even consider polishing it up and releasing it? My only complaint (other than the lack of sound :( ) is that on the last level I could skip pretty much all of it by falling off the left edge. It took a couple of tries to land on my wheels, but I did it. I got a laugh out of "it is a 2d game" in the launcher quality settings. Great job overall!
Cool idea. It was a little frustrating to have to watch the fade out screen when I died, and then have to choose my level again. I have no reason to choose one other than the level I was just playing, so it seemed pointless. But it is fun to play, so good job :)
I love this one. The mechanic is really cool, and you executed it well. I honestly think you could turn the dashing mechanic into its own full game if you did it right. I would have LOVED to see this game with a ton of polish, I think it would turn out really amazing.
This game is pretty neat. The art could've been better, the sound is passable, and the gameplay is pretty interesting. I like the idea of abducting people and prioritizing who you want while trying to destroy turrets and whatnot. Nice job!
Really cool game. The mechanic is really awesome! Very well done there. It's a little confusing, but I don't think there's a lot you could've done about that, especially in the small time frame. The art is awesome. The buzzing sounds are a little annoying, but otherwise you did a great job!
Aww, I really love this game. It's super adorable. The gameplay is interesting and fun, and the game over screen is way too cute to ever make me frustrated. I love it. Great job!
This was pretty good! The idea is cool. The gameplay is nothing incredibly new, but the art and the sound combine in a great way to make a really neat aesthetic. And the instructions made me chuckle. :) Great job!
Feels good to play, but sometimes it was frustrating to try to shoot the zombies on hills etc. And when you had two on both sides you were pretty much screwed.
This is probably my favorite game that I've played so far. Great music, great sound, awesome art, well-executed gameplay, and a neat idea. Really well done, man.
Wow, I love this! While there's not much gameplay-wise, it makes up for it in any other category. I love the 3d-2d cartoony art style, the music, the relatableness of your game running out of power in the car as a kid and having to entertain yourself by imagining someone running along beside you. Seeing the dog outside after my gameboy died legitimately made me laugh :) Great stuff!
Nice game! The graphics are a little all over the place (try desaturating unimportant objects such as props and the background), the sound is alright, and the controls are a little awkward, but I know some games use this scheme so maybe that's just my preference. I really love the mechanic though! It's an interesting challenge to fight and also be killing yourself :P Great use of the theme!
Good game. Not amazing, but it isn't bad. The art is decent, and the music is pretty good! But the gameplay is kind of annoying. Getting stuck on the edge of pits because I didn't jump perfectly felt a little unfair. It seemed unforgiving, I guess. I also think you should have a second after dying to see your score, because it immediately resets when you die, so you don't have a chance to look. Overall, pretty good for a 48 hour game! :P
I thought this game was interesting. I like the art style, and the music is pretty great! But I feel like the gameplay falls flat. It seems like eating one piece of plastic kills you after a short period of time, rather than instantly, and there's no way to stop it? And I can't seem to figure out how to avoid the meany fishes. I liked the message you were sending with the plastic. Overall, pretty good job!
The sound and art is alright, but the mechanic was pretty interesting. I don't see how this is running out of power, more like running out of space. It felt a bit easy, but I feel like you could do some neat stuff with the mechanic you have here. Your description made me laugh :)
Hey, nice game! The art is alright, the music is pretty good, the story is funny, and the gameplay is fairly solid. My heart was definitely pounding near the end. So many jets! My biggest complaint would probably be that sometimes the hearts spawn down at the bottom where I can't reach them, and if too many in a row spawn down there, I get pretty close to death through no fault of my own. Good job overall ^-^
Neat game. The concept was good. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but I could never seem to survive for more than a minute. The lights just kept breaking and I ran out of power before I could get to new ones. The sound is alright, the art is passable. The atmosphere was pretty good.
It's an interesting idea, but it felt like no matter what I chose I would be punished for it. I know that's kind of the idea behind the game, but typically you want to be rewarding your players, not punishing them. The music is a bit repetitive, but it's a neat game. Nice job.
It took a few tries to get used to the slow-ish steering and how much everything weighs you down, but once it clicked, it was pretty fun to play! My biggest complaint would probably be the lack of polish. Everything felt pretty static. More animated stuff! Little dings when I get a coin! Some indicator when I die (even just a sound effect when I get the game over screen would help a lot). It's a really neat idea that just needs some more time (isn't that the problem with all jam games? :P) Well done!
The graphics are great! The gameplay using only one button was a bold move, and I think it could have worked, but it felt like the enemies were placed in impossible-to-avoid positions next to each other, and it was just too frustrating for me. I wish I made it to the "end". :P
Definitely one of my favorites so far! The mechanic, the mood, the visuals, and the self-made music is really cool and all works together really well. I like how it almost turns into a bullet hell in the later levels. Great work, everything is really nice!
Interesting game! It was cute, and it was fun to try to balance the ice cream, but it seemed like there wasn't a lot I could do to increase the amount per cone. Good stuff!
This is good! It's silly and fun to just bash into things with the rainbow booster. Love the mood. Not reallllyy sure where the theme fits, but it's still a fun and entertaining game. Lighthearted and feel-good. ^-^
I've never played Katamari, but from what I've seen, this is definitely Katamari. :P By the end I had a giant messy ball of bodies (*ahem*... friends). The sounds are nice, and the mood is cool. It's fun to just pick stuff up, honestly. Wish there was more gameplay/goal, but that's probably just my own preference, not everything has to have a specific goal. :)
I am confused and slightly disturbed 10/10
I'm not sure I want to know how this idea came about, but the game is solid! It gets pretty hectic at the end.
Great concept! The UI probably should have been more obvious, because it was pretty hard to see my health and heat levels at just a glance. And maybe some other indicator of your heat levels? Maybe your ship starts tinting red, or your bullets start sounding different or something. The overheating sound is really loud, which kind of works because you immediately are like "what is that and how do I stop it", but it's like twice as loud as everything else. The way things go into slow motion when you die is really neat. Good job!
Heheh, this is interesting! It definitely gets worse the more universes you have, so it fits the theme. :P My biggest complain would be that it runs at a very low framerate in the browser, and would maybe benefit from a download link.
This game is cute :3 It's like that old caterpillar game, but you're emotionally invested in your segments. Turning felt a little too slow, so it was hard to react to crocodiles, and suddenly you hear a multitude of chomps and think "NOOOO" as you die a little inside. Good stuff.
I love the mood in this! The mechanic is really neat too. Music, graphics, and gameplay are all solid. Honestly, my only complaint is the size of the window. Normally it's not something I really complain about because it IS Ludum Dare, but it's... really small. :P Really great work, though!
Interesting idea! It feels like the popups come up too fast to really do anything about them. It was fun to try to manage both the popups and the pong game, it could be great with some tweaking!
This is really well made, I would never believe it was created in 48 hours! Everything is awesome. Gameplay, polish, art, sounds, the music, everything! Seriously great job on this, my only complaint was that it didn't feel like the guns did much, and re-buying guns I'd already unlocked was a little weird. You're the first game I've played for LD40, and you set the bar high!
@abigailcorfman This is the best review I've ever gotten on a game, everyone on the team loved it. Thank you so much!
Thank you everybody for the kind words! They definitely are not going unappreciated, it makes us super happy to hear you're all enjoying our game that we worked so hard on! <3
@mykola Thank you for your comment! The root is a Unity line renderer with... 200 nodes? I think? Very very gross code-wise, but it works haha
A very good game! I love the concept, and you executed it perfectly. Simple but fun, and the title you gave it is just perfect, I don't think I've ever mashed buttons for that long in my life. I did one run and got to 623, and by that time my hand was absolutely dying lol. I love it, and it's a very nice touch that you can change the color palette :)chrome_jxQJzloP2A.png
@ryannielson Totally worth it, the game was a blast :)
Such a cool game, you nailed it again! I love the ground wobble and of course the mechanic of how you switch between levels. Super simple (in a good way!), polished, and easy to understand and play. I like how, while waiting for the player to start, you're constantly cycling through new levels and just throw the player into the next one. Clever!
Cool game! I really like the mechanic of the physics-based movement and not letting the lantern touch anything, but it kind of felt more awkward than fun to get anywhere and have the wait on the lantern to stop bouncing like crazy before doing any movements. Maybe I'm not understanding something though. The audio and the graphics were nice! I'm always an advocate for the clean shapes look, especially in game jams ;) I dig the aesthetic!
Man, I would have loved to see this more fleshed out. I'm sure you know the game is very, very short, which is a shame. If it was much more obvious which row the projectiles were coming from and the movement between tiles was snappy enough, I can 100% see this being a really fun game; dodging an onslaught of projectiles coming down each row with precise movements between tiles. I hope you work on this more, it has potential!
Interesting... to say the least.
This is my highest rated game so far! No category below 4.5 stars :) I adore this game, it's so cute and the mechanics are a blast! I was legitimately laughing to myself when I would accidentally boost into a floating object, slowly slide off, and fall directly onto a bomb, getting thrown across the screen. Ragdoll physics are very fun to play with, and you got the bounciness of the walls and floating objects just right. And the art and sounds are super cute! I used the boost a lot and I think a voice line plays every time, so it got a bit repetitive, but kind of added to the silliness. I like this game a lot, really really well done!
Your itch.io page isn't published yet! :(
This is cool! I like the art, the music, and the atmosphere. My main gripe is how slooooowwwwww it is to accelerate. I would love to go around taking pictures of marine wildlife, but the submarine is so sluggish it's kind of frustrating. If the submarine was faster I'm sure I would love it!
Very cool game! The atmosphere is super well done, between the art, its style, the fog, and the beautiful music. It does go a little slow for my tiny attention span, but I won't put that on you! :) A beautiful experience at the least, great work to everyone on the team!
I'm not sure if the game is bugged or if I'm doing something wrong, but I can't seem to interact with anything or find anywhere to go. Lighting things on fire didn't seem to do anything, so I just wandered around for a few minutes before giving up.
First of all, the art is awesome! I love the aesthetics and the art is super super well done, so kudos there! The mechanics are very very cool, I love that you can throw and teleport to the scythe, and if this was polished up I would totally love to see it as a full game. There's a lot of potential in the mechanics.
This is a very cool game! It is super, super impressive that this is your first game, and completed in only 48 hours! I really love the switching mechanic and how you really used it to its potential in the level design. I would have LOVED to see this with some polish (and a quicker switch between worlds- a cool flashing effect would really sell it!), but seeing as how much work you clearly already put in, that might be asking a little much ;) Awesome stuff, you definitely have some natural talent here. Can't wait to see what you make next!
This is such a cool game! I love the concept, puzzles, writing, and execution! I'm not much of an interactive fiction player, but this is very very cool stuff! The cypher and the perceiving things as something else? Absolutely awesome. The backgrounds and audio are definitely beneficial to the atmosphere. I love it!
This gave me and my friend a good laugh, it's goofy and the "Travel deeper and deeper into your own subconscious until you reach the prized toaster" line kills me. The gameplay is fun and the whole game feels like a fever dream sometimes, which isn't a bad thing :)
Very cool game! The art and lighting is super super nice. The gameplay is alright, it was fairly simple. When I first saw the final boss I thought it was really cool, but after realizing I just had to punch it to death, it was super underwhelming sadly. I wanted to run from a giant boss while punching stuff in the way. Pretty cool overall though!
Cool game! It's definitely got the addicting clicker formula. Works well and looks good! It feels a bit weird to not be able to mine directly next to me and it just teleports me to the top, but it's not a big deal. I would've loved to hear some satisfying sounds while breaking stuff :)
This is very cool! I love the concept and the polish you have here! My biggest I feel like a lot of the time I'm digging down too fast because of the descending lava, and because I'm rushing I end up falling into bad spots or in awkward situations before I can even get my footing in a run. The time I have to shop is always like 5 seconds before I die, which is a little frustrating. Other than the difficulty issues, this game does super well in everything else!
