Cool concept! I wanted to dive deeper and explore more to see what I could photograph

rawb 2021-04-27 02:40

@lithia-studios Thanks, I was hoping to add a bit more but ran out of time...

2021-04-27 02:40

Pretty great atmosphere. Love how the art, style and presentation come together.

raymond-bourke 2021-04-27 02:40

Really awesome. I really like the music, and I felt really interested in seeing what each thing on the sonar would be and would like. The dialogue is also well written, and the art is cute.

defilerzero 2021-04-27 02:41

Cute design and execution.

khill 2021-04-27 02:41

The mood in this is very good. I also like the idea of being an underwater camera photographer. The acceleration and deceleration of the ship was a little bit frustrating because once it felt like I was going at a decent pace, I always had to stop. Otherwise a very good game.

carolyn 2021-04-27 02:42

This game was super nice! I really enjoyed it

grimsbaldruk 2021-04-27 02:43

Capture d’écran 2021-04-27 à 04.39.16.png Had a really cool feeling, the mod is awesome, was ready to spend hours diving into this clear blue water but unfortunately got bullied by the shark, it might be a lil too much agressive. Fantastic overall experience, really impressive work, sound design fits perfectly with situations and mood ! Good job :D

kamilo 2021-04-27 02:43

Really chilling. I liked the submarine, the dialogs and graphics though :)

brandon-garcia 2021-04-27 02:44

Great work, I really enjoyed the art and the SFX were very fitting.

thecommonthug 2021-04-27 02:46

Very impressed. This game's a vibe for sure.

tubadude99 2021-04-27 02:46

Love the art, love the mood, love the concept. It's very satisfying to track down a sonar blip and finally find some rare and exciting creature. The one frustration I had was in moving the sub up and down. Although I got used to it eventually, it's very hard to control, and the sub's slow acceleration made getting away from the shark almost impossible once I got stuck in a corner. Aside from the entire shark chase sequence, this is a pretty fun game.

jokerbomb 2021-04-27 02:46

I really enjoyed your game! My one feedback is that ascending and descending felt incredibly difficult which, did give it a moving through water feel, but it was so difficult that evading the Crimson Tiger shark ended up being pretty difficult after a bit.

However, the art and the audio is fantastic! well done!

cheese-team 2021-04-27 02:47

I loved this! The art is great, and the design is solid. I would be very proud of this!

If you decide to keep working on the game, consider making UI elements a bit bigger. The text was rather hard to read.

timeloopedpowergamer 2021-04-27 02:48

Nice theme. Loved the underwater atmosphere and dialog. Had some issues with the screen size and controls on the browser version. Couldn't accelerate very fast and got completely bodied by the red shark for minutes.

drewstillwell 2021-04-27 02:48

music really set the mood and the atmosphere, pretty fun little game! Nice work

batjak03 2021-04-27 02:48

Very relaxing and a unique concept - I did find the submarine to be a tad too slow changing directions sometimes though.

cole-hutson 2021-04-27 02:48

Very fun and relaxing game. I enjoyed the controls. You figured out submarine controls better than other submarine games here.

peculiarcarrot 2021-04-27 02:48

This is cool! I like the art, the music, and the atmosphere. My main gripe is how slooooowwwwww it is to accelerate. I would love to go around taking pictures of marine wildlife, but the submarine is so sluggish it's kind of frustrating. If the submarine was faster I'm sure I would love it!

ndrw 2021-04-27 02:49

This game is awesome! It's very relaxing and the mechanics are fun. I got past the shark but then sunk to the bottom of the sea.

bernardex 2021-04-27 02:49

Hey! I loved the choice for the music and ambience! Really nice to explore your world with that theme, and the dialogues helped a lot in it! Also, I agree with some of the other folks on the controls being a little bit hard to manage. Nice entry!

gomega 2021-04-27 02:49

I'm a big fan of this idea. I would love to see a larger game of it. I was able to get suprisingly immersed in exploring and discovering cool fish.

My biggest complaint is that the movement could get fairly frustrating at times, but I assume that was intentional.

Great work!

nekowei 2021-04-27 02:50

slowly dive down with creature explore really get the mood

the red shark dash is funny but it's too powerful I got stuck in the corner and can't go deeper😂

zerocomms 2021-04-27 02:50

Capture.PNG

Interesting though I couldn't see all of the UI elements. Took a min to realize what the 'water level' thing ment. Got blocked out of progressing by the shark though, took a few min to get around him since I kept getting knocked back up.

pandalk 2021-04-27 02:50

Really enjoyable game, I would love to see this with more kind of sea creatures ! taking a picture in this game feels like catching a new fish on animal crossing :)

xpoho 2021-04-27 02:51

Никогда не управлял подлодкой - оказывается, это очень сложно! Интересная игра, правда, непонятно, неужели они так и не выберутся?

chironyx 2021-04-27 02:51

I loved the music, and this game has alot of personality, it's great! I do wish the submarine movements felt a little less slugish, and te crimson shark nearly got me pinned and stuck a few times

savolae 2021-04-27 02:53

I like the mood of exploration in this game, very relaxing. The controls felt a bit sluggish at some spots but other than that the game was very enjoyable.

tillbold 2021-04-27 02:55

shark got me stuck in corner. like the style and sound to textmessage

kr0s 2021-04-27 02:55

I like this game, but I ended up being footballed by the shark into oblivion. If the submarine was a bit faster, it would make all the difference. It's like running from cops in a lawnmower.

rawb 2021-04-27 02:57

@grimsbaldruk Yeah that’ll happen. The shark AI is a bit aggressive (I was trying to make it scary), I didn’t have time to fine tune it. You can normally just push yourself out of it.

david-liddelow 2021-04-27 02:58

Simple but fun.

rawb 2021-04-27 02:59

@zerocomms yeah sorry about the UI. It changes position based on the size of the window so sometimes it just messes up. I’ll need to figure out to fix that in the future

squirmonkey 2021-04-27 03:03

A nice chill submarine game. I liked how the ship moved especially.

I wished there would have been more variety in the environments.

The shark I think was a little too difficult, I found it disappointing that after I got past him, the game was over immediately, seemed a bit anticlimactic.

Nice work!

grimsbaldruk 2021-04-27 03:04

@rawb That's what I though happened but still an awesome project, well done captain !

rawb 2021-04-27 03:10

@jokerbomb @gomega thanks! Yeah, there was a difficult. Trying to make the submarine feel like it’s in the water made it more sluggish, which was annoying since it takes a while to change direction. I couldn’t find a better balance in time

arthur-porto 2021-04-27 03:13

So good, the music made this experience so relaxing, i left feeling like i want to explore more!

fuzzy-lobster 2021-04-27 04:25

The artstyle is great. I showed this one to a few friends.

lighty-the-light 2021-04-27 09:16

Acceleration control is good, but the delay is too strong in this game. My submarine stuck on the wall sometimes.

Other things are well-made. Good music, relaxing story.

Good work!

rouge-dragon 2021-04-27 11:14

Good game! I love the controls and the art!

mathemagician 2021-04-27 15:14

I had a heck of a time trying to dodge around the shark, but this is by far the best of the "deep sea sub" games I've seen so far. I love the camera mechanic, and the movement tech is fun if a touch sluggish. The vibe between the music, graphics, and general gameplay is pretty chill and I love that (even if the shark bullied me a little too hard).

Excellent work, I'm looking forward to seeing any new games you come up with down the road as well.

crucknuk 2021-04-27 15:15

I love the music, it's so relaxing and add so much mood to the game. The dialog and the interaction with the torch light is nice.

I think the control are a little two slow, but it fits with the relaxing / exploration game.

Well done !

nyanpierre 2021-04-27 17:26

graphic is simple but effective :D

dodidouda 2021-04-27 22:18

Really loved this game! Charming visuals and storytelling... The shark made me laugh so hard lol. Very very aggressive, I battled with it for a solid 5 minutes before being able to go down. Only on comment on the controls: inertia is incredibly slow so it's really tough to move around. Maybe make it a bit lighter? Apart from this, great experience. Congrats!

paroxysmal 2021-04-28 01:17

Very fun...love the pixel art. Great job.

uboretsky 2021-04-28 11:34

I like it so much! Simple art, annoyIng SHARK, but good story with sad ending =( The game evokes feelings, it's cool, nice work

phlebas 2021-04-28 23:12

I loved this game! Even though my screen was cropped, so that i couldn't se the water level thing, which made things harder. Also the ending was vary nice, I found the slow entrance of the last fish was quite powerful. I think it may have been nice if things got darker the deeper you got (the sense of darkness is something that I always enjoy in ocean documentaries) but the mood was beatufully conveyed anyways.

rawb 2021-04-28 23:38

@phlebas thanks for the kind words and feedback. The screen does get cropped for some reason. This is only my second jam so when I built the game with an hour left the screen was all cropped. So a panicked and tried my best to fix it. Downloading the game might help get the preferred screen size

pat-cleaver 2021-04-29 21:43

This was great! some super nice pixel art on the different creatures, and I loved the bubbles effect on the sideways motion. Enjoyed this a lot!

tommytheitguy 2021-05-01 18:38

Very relaxing and chill game. Doesn't have any stressful elements. You just explore the depths and take pictures of pretty ocean life. The music is calm and relaxing, really gets you in the vibe. My only regret is that the game isn't longer, would love to explore some more! Wholly recommend to anyone who likes relaxing games!

Here's my playthrough: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1007430228?t=2h16m30s

ismael-rodriguez 2021-05-01 23:19

Neat game! I like the idea of exploring and photographing the wildlife, kind of like Pokemon snap!

However, exploring was not as fun as it should have been. Movement felt very slow and unresponsive. I understand wanting that underwater feeling, but I think it was overdone. It especially becomes a problem when running into dead ends, and then when the demon shark comes along to bully you. The acceleration is so slow, I imagine some players got stuck against the shark, or just got bored of moving so slowly.

I pushed through the slow speeds and made it to the end. I did enjoy the dialog, the visuals, and the overall feel of the music (though it did become a bit repetitive).

Good job on your game!

thanks.png

rawb 2021-05-02 00:43

@tommytheitguy wow thanks for playing it on twitch and for the feedback. I’ve never seen a play through of my game before

rawb 2021-05-02 00:47

@ismael-rodriguez thanks for the feedback I’m glad you liked it. Yeah, there were parts of the game that I just didn’t have time to improve. It was my first time doing my own music, pixel art and dialogue for a game so I spent a lot of time learning them and not enough time on the controls or nasty AI. I plan you keep working on the game when I have time so hopefully I get those things cleaned up because I feel like they are a detriment to the game. I really appreciate the detailed feedback, thanks!

meta-link 2021-05-02 11:42

Incredible game, I really loved exploring in this atmosphere. The pixel art is gorgeous and the music is so good. Good job

joe-wright 2021-05-02 17:38

Fun! Nice presentation and I enjoyed the idea of the photography expedition. The shark was a neat reveal but ended up pretty frustrating, although I have to admit I felt pretty accomplished when I made it through!

lucky-trident 2021-05-03 16:54

So 2D open world Pokemon Snap ? Nice ! The graphics and music were on point.

That shark really was annoying. It wouldn't let me alone and went through walls... What an absolute jerk !

2021-05-03 19:50

Great old school art style and theme, kind of reminded me of life aquatic. I always love seeing a game that feels cohesive and well thought out despite the time limitations.

I noticed some issues with UI scaling as well, looks like things may get clipped on certain resolutions.

I think that adding more variety and expanding the content could make this a great 2d collector/exploration game.

Fantastic work!

nsadie 2021-05-04 08:41

Nice game, good art and mood. Gameplay was quite fun, although I found the controls for going up and down just a little bit too sluggish. I did enjoy the torpedo shark, even though he was super annoying!

neontropics 2021-05-15 13:54

Really good audio! It's just super relaxing just exploring with the music. The general momentum and gravity based gameplay is good and feels nice (though I did kinda get stuck on walls sometimes). I did a somewhat similar game some Ludum Dares back actually, though less relaxing and more manic: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/aquatic-subgal

The core graphics are very nice and captures that Gameboy kinda vibe!
