LD42 — Running out of space

Ice n Fire by Jiri_One 2018-08-13T08:26:45Z

A good concept for a shooter. I like the ice-walls that get left behind when I miss, and then I have to switch over to the fire weapon to cut through them. Shame I can't burn the enemies, but I suppose that's not really the point. I did feel that sometimes the enemies would appear too close to me, not sure if that's just because I didn't notice though.

Your PC run out of space by Listonos 2018-08-13T06:05:25Z

lololol the summer sale at the end was just the surprise this game needed. I do wish I could cut the games into more than two pieces though, just really slash the devil out of them.

Rising Tide by smilewood 2018-08-13T00:00:11Z

I can't figure out how to build factories :disappointed:

Rising Tide by smilewood 2018-08-13T00:25:52Z

Ah, indeed. I didn't realize that where you built them changed the cost, and I was running out of money. I played it again and was able to build all the buildings. It's a pretty clever idea, but it seems to be a little buggy. For instance, after the sea swallowed up my first set of buildings, it didn't take away the income from my factories, and the display at the top right looked like this:

Le Parking by karlipoppins 2018-08-13T04:03:35Z

Graphics and audio are really good in this one! The cars handle pretty well, though I had some trouble getting in and out of the cars. I think it might help if the entrance to the parking garage were a little bigger, it can sometimes be hard to get in and out (I suppose that's kind of the point)

They Came while I was jogging by amras0000 2018-08-13T08:41:32Z

I like the flavor/scenario you've set up, some hapless fellow just trying to go for a run and gets stuck with an alien invasion. I think it'd help if you added some information on what you're supposed to do in each stage, as it can be hard to figure out. Unfortunately, I ran into an issue where the game crashed during the stage with a sphere and red X's.

Aeromancer by Ethan Allwood 2018-08-14T04:44:33Z

This is very well put together, I did finish all the levels, though I didn't time it because I though the game would do it for me. The abilities are varied, and lots of fun. My gripe is with the combat, which I feel kind of puts a damper on the whole experience. The fighting is very twitchy, in what felt like it wanted to be more of a puzzle game. I think it would help if you made the length of the punch a bit longer, and the duration of the stun a lot longer.

There's a minor bug where the abilities don't recharge when you die.

Fun, and very impressive for the time limit!

Personal Space by ursagames 2018-08-14T07:53:32Z

I did it! I liked the walking sound. I don't really understand what the vision thing was... I spent a lot of time hiding from some unseen threat in the stairwell. Perhaps that's intended social commentary...

Ultimate Heat Death by croze 2018-08-13T01:39:52Z

I think I finished it? I got to a yellow thing. Overall, I really enjoyed the boosting mechanic, it just feels really good and has a nice sound effect. The climbing is a cool idea too, though the execution isn't perfect. Climbing on the bottom of asteroids works pretty well, but climbing up the sides sometimes gets stuck. It might also help to let me zoom out the camera a little, so I can aim my jumps better. Nice game, I think with some polish this could be the foundation of a really fun platformer.

Chief Data Engineer by candlesan 2018-08-14T07:26:05Z

This is a fun puzzle game. The limited space reminds me a lot of those old RushHour toys. I had fun playing it. It could use music.

Merge Machine by matt-tuttle 2018-08-13T03:13:25Z

This is a cool idea, and the look is slick. The game is too easy though, until the cross pieces appear it's basically impossible to lose. I couldn't figure out how the cross shaped pieces worked, they didn't collapse when I put them in a row like the other pieces, and they didn't work when I matched all their ends... not sure how to get rid of them.

TENORMS by Mathstr0fficial 2018-08-13T02:07:32Z

This is a good start to a basic platform-shooter. I think it would help if you made the slime a slightly different color, as it can be hard to tell apart from the grass if you're not looking closely. I'd also like to be able to shoot faster, but that could just be that I'm not very good at the game.

Roguenoc by gustavo.christino 2018-09-03T07:22:35Z

It's very neat that you guys got random level generation in for the jam! As others have said, the turning is very slow.

I confess I was a bit lost while playing. Most of the text wasn't in english which, maybe was part of the story? But made it difficult for me to understand. I did seem to be getting bigger, but couldn't really tell why. Eventually I got stuck and couldn't proceed.

I think if what you guys were after was a chance to work on procedural generation, then you've succeeded. But I think from a gameplay perspective, the game would have been better off if you'd spent more time on developing the challenges, choices, and interface of the game using a static level, and then added procedural generation later.

Running out of Keys by OadT 2018-08-12T23:46:46Z

This is a really clever idea. I think it'd be easier to play if the keys had the letters on them though. I use a split keyboard, and it was sometimes hard to tell which keys were which.

Overgrowth by gagouman 2018-08-13T00:19:44Z

This was pretty fun! I only made it to 350 research points :(. I liked the music! I wish that the click area for the dollar signs was bigger, because it's pretty easy to click near them and have it not pick up.

Sea of Bells by Kultisti 2018-08-13T05:40:28Z

I can honestly say that I have no idea what just happened but that it was pretty cool.

ReMind LD-42 by EvanM 2018-08-13T01:05:25Z

The game is a little slow at the moment, but I like the idea. It might help to add some variety to the memories, or have them appear many at once, or in different places, so you have to sort through which are good or bad.

Alternating Space by StateOff 2018-08-13T03:27:10Z

The portal makes this a nice twist on this style of two-character platformer. Mechanically, the portal works very well. The levels are very difficult though! I had a really hard time beating them.

I also think the jump sound is too loud compared to the other sounds, but otherwise the art and sound are nice.

Where's Creepo? by SundanceKid 2018-08-12T23:12:36Z

This was surprisingly fun and surprisingly difficult. I wish Gus would walk a little faster, so I don't use so much of the time waiting for him to get places.

Volka by Cisco 2018-08-13T03:47:01Z

This is a great game! The graphics and sound are good, it has a nice mix between an arcade-y kind of mechanic and a puzzle-y kind of mechanic, easy responsive controls. It's just good. Solid work! Would have been nice to see music, but doesn't really need it. Would make a great mobile app too

cargOS by tigerj 2018-08-13T02:46:02Z

This one is intense! I was expecting it to be fairly straightforward, but moving the cursor while the arm is in motion takes some getting used to, I got a lot better at remembering it as the game went on. I think it would be nice if the crane could remember a few commands, so that it didn't overwrite if I clicked again while it was moving.

I did run into a small issue while I was rushing towards the end, where a box got stuck halfway on one of the teleporters so I couldn't drop things on the teleporter anymore :(. I would have taken a screenshot for you, but I lost a few seconds later.

Graphics and sound are pretty good too!

Noah's Help! by Ian Kettlewell 2018-08-13T05:30:59Z

Well, this is adorable. The animals are so cute, and theres a good puzzle game here too, some of the level design is really clever. I had a lot of fun playing it, and cleared all the levels!

I don't love the "yay" sound effect when you clear a level, it's a little harsh. Also, I sometimes had a hard time telling what shape the really big animals were, but these are minor complaints about a good game. Well done!

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-08-14T07:07:57Z

Well, this was a lot of fun. I made it to 364.65. My only critique would be to maybe add some more visual variety, after doing it for a while, it sort of all blends together.

Climb by Albin 2018-08-13T02:51:25Z

The graphics for this game are pretty cute. Especially the main character, which I think is really well done. It looks like you have some like, speckled artifacts maybe from scanning them in? I think it'd look better if you did a little editing to clean up the sprites a little.

Gameplay is pretty standard, but seems to work well. I think it might help if you had the items spawn from above the top of the screen so that you have more time to react to them.

Parking Ships by chekaaa 2018-08-13T01:22:56Z

I like this idea, like a sort of geometric space valet. It's somewhere between a jigsaw puzzle and a car-driving game. I did have an issue where sometimes I couldn't click on new ships.

Parking Ships by chekaaa 2018-08-13T01:45:39Z

Ah, bummer. Well if you figure it out, I think you're allowed to fix bugs after the time limit.

Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You can’t add new features, but if something broke or didn’t work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline. You are asked to highlight the changes you make in your submission (a short change log)

If you do end up fixing it, I'd be interested to try playing it again!

JUNKYARD by NOTBADGUN 2018-08-13T09:17:03Z

This is pretty engrossing for how simple it is. I think the controls could use a little help, it's frustrating when you accidentally mouse over another type and lose the line you've been drawing. I like the art style as well!

[Running Out of Spac] by Sean Doyle 2018-08-12T23:27:33Z

I like the turning animation for the ship! I wish you could hold down the button to shoot more, so I didn't have to click so much.

DON'T RUN OUT OF SPACE by Paden Shorey 2018-08-13T04:18:39Z

There have been a few games like this so far. This is the best one I've seen. The graphics are just yes, the sound is pretty good too. For the most part, it plays like you'd expect it to, and that's a good thing. The screen feels a little dark to me, idk if there's a way to brighten it up. I'd like it if the explosions felt a little more impactful as well. They're useful, but they don't feel as cool as they could.

Countdown by Elnu 2018-08-13T02:59:44Z

This is a pretty cool idea, and I think it fits the theme very well, even amidst other games with similar concepts. I made it 95 seconds! The visuals of the countdown happening all around you are very engaging and make it easy to eyeball where you want to be and where not to be.

The jumping is a little glitchy, the ball sometimes sticks to the sides of the hexagons. I like the music, but I don't like the sound effect for jumping, I tried using the buttons to turn it off, but couldn't figure out how they work.

Thanks for making it!

LD42 Running out of Space by Gary Beebe 2018-08-13T03:57:59Z

This game is surprisingly fun! It could use some background music, and the AI could use a little work (they can't hit you if you stand still), but otherwise, this is the beginnings of a pretty solid spaceships game.

Running out of Space by Andre van Zuydam 2018-08-14T07:12:38Z

This is a cool idea but it's kind of impossible... you can land the first one if you use up all your spaces, not so sure about the second one.

Oh no! This is monsters! by Alexey Akulovich 2018-08-12T23:38:11Z

I like your sounds and music. They fit the game well.

Way Up! by Biodiesel 2018-08-12T23:23:43Z

Pretty fun! The controls are a little fiddly, sometimes the guy would move two spaces or turn twice when I really only wanted one. The drag feature doesn't seem to do much. The music fit the game well, and didn't become grating. I scored 343 points!

Mike's Movers by William Corrin 2018-08-13T00:49:07Z

I like this game, though the time limits are _very_ aggressive. I made it to 239172 points. I would maybe tone down the "you can't place this" sound, it's pretty harsh.

Mike's Movers by William Corrin 2018-08-13T01:16:28Z

It definitely does feel rushed, and that's fun. But it is so rushed that I never have time to look at the queue of what's coming out of the truck. I think it might help to give it a little more time, but make the space a little more constrained, so you have to balance between going fast and planning ahead.

Secret Knight by shinysteel 2018-08-13T02:29:32Z

A stealth game is a great interpretation of the theme. More villagers don't get in the way, but they do mean more witnesses. A very impressive game from 48h. I love the game over sequence. I'd love to have something in the game that says what the controls are, I had trouble figuring out the wall thing, but that's a minor gripe.

42 Pillars of Stone by Furtive Pygmy 2018-08-13T08:44:24Z

Seems like a good foundation for a shooter game. I think it would help if you leaned into your concept a little more, and really made me feel like a bad-ass fire mage. If there were lights and explosions when I shot the enemies, it'd feel really cool even though the mechanics would still be simple.

A blob with a destination - LD42 by Dries Vuylsteke 2018-08-13T08:55:27Z

I think what's really impressive about this game is the number of mechanics and ideas you've managed to cram into 48 hours. It keeps the game feeling quite varied and interesting. I made it to level 9 but then got kind of confused and couldn't keep up with all the mechanics. I really like the animations for the main unit, the lasers, and the lava. A little rough around the edges, but it demonstrates lots of good ideas, and could be really fun with some more polish.

Get Off My Boat, You! by Eric Kulbiej 2018-08-13T00:57:57Z

"Yea!" "Yea!"

lolol

I wish I could maybe slow the boat down a bit, it was pretty hard to steer. Nice game!

Drifting Statuary by squirmonkey 2018-08-13T01:25:00Z

@croze Thanks! I do have a tendency to be longwinded when describing things. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Drifting Statuary by squirmonkey 2018-08-13T01:53:04Z

@ad31 Thanks for playing! 4190 is a pretty respectable score, especially for your first game. And yes, you're right, if you're not able to jump, the game ends as well. The end card changes from "You were defeated in battle" to "You were trapped amidst the statues"

@mathstr0fficial Thanks for playing, I'm thrilled you liked it so much! You have correctly identified me as a "new Jammer", this is my first game jam, though not my first game and certainly not my first piece of software. I won't argue about my needing some work in the art department lol. There should be a sound effect when you move, though it's pretty soft because I didn't want it to be annoying. If you're sure you didn't hear one, would you mind telling me which platform you played on so I can check if it's a bug?

Drifting Statuary by squirmonkey 2018-08-13T02:13:21Z

@shinysteel Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it. You're right about the angels looking similar, differentiating them more certainly wouldn't hurt.

@mathstr0fficial Yeah, its there, but you're right that it's _very_ soft.

Drifting Statuary by squirmonkey 2018-08-13T03:18:45Z

@nick-girardo Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I agree with all of your nit-picks. The lack of an indicator for the selected angel is a great point, I should have done that, it wouldn't have been very hard.

The demons have a jump range of 3 spaces, just like the angels, but I acknowledge that this can be difficult to gauge while playing.

Thanks for your feedback!

Drifting Statuary by squirmonkey 2018-08-13T03:48:27Z

@gary-beebe Yeah, it won't let you stop the demons from spawning entirely. But if you get statues on a few of the sigils it can help you survive the mid-game by limiting how many directions the demons can come from. Thanks for playing!

Drifting Statuary by squirmonkey 2018-08-13T05:15:35Z

@kultisti Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and am thrilled you liked the music, as this was my first time composing.

@tombus Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you liked it.

@ian-kettlewell Thanks for playing, I'm pleased you were able to look past my relatively-meh art skills and see the depth in the game.

Drifting Statuary by squirmonkey 2018-08-13T05:31:54Z

@vulpineblazeyt Thanks for playing, I'm glad you found it pleasant lol :P. It definitely takes some getting used to.

Drifting Statuary by squirmonkey 2018-08-13T06:12:17Z

@erendelous Thanks for playing, I appreciate your feedback!

Drifting Statuary by squirmonkey 2018-08-13T08:56:28Z

@memel06 Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Slay The Slimes by rk3Omega 2018-08-13T04:21:34Z

I like the art style of this game! It controls pretty smoothly. I think you could do a couple things to improve the experience, like showing in advance where the slimes are going to appear, so they don't land on you. Or making the platforms a little bigger so you have room to land on them.

More and More Gravestones by 5Spectra 2018-08-14T06:48:55Z

I don't really understand what I'm supposed to do, I dug a new grave but it wouldn't let me bury anybody in it.

Zero Grace Megadrive by triplefox 2018-08-13T01:14:57Z

I really like the graphics and sound for this one. The font is pretty hard to read, it took me a long time to figure out how to start the game.

Boy saves local beachfront arcade from aggressive mannequins by throwing stones by Nick Girardo 2018-08-13T03:34:47Z

I'm really impressed with your post-modern interpretation of the beach. A fascinating graphical decision. Abstract graphics aside, the controls for this game are very sharp, which is basically the only thing that matters in a game like this. My two gripes are that the fast enemies are too fast (they get me almost every time, esp when the ring is smaller), and that the high score thing resets when the game ends, rather than remembering the high score.

Polterplot by posho 2018-08-28T21:19:04Z

Well this was cute :D. Fun graphics and sounds. I didn't really feel like the strategy of which types of spectres beat which other types was really relevant because we both had so much space and seeds were so constrained that you just grabbed and planted whatever was spawning near you, I won the game with sheer numbers by just grabbing up all the seeds. I feel like maybe the bomb guys are supposed to destroy the plots and make there be less space or something, but that didn't really happen for me, so the theme didn't come through so much as I always had more room to plant than there were seeds available.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

It Must Be Fed by Move127 2018-12-03T03:47:36Z

This seems like a good idea, with an interesting topic, clearly on theme. I would have liked to see more of the story, but after 15 days it got a bit too repetitive for me. It didn't seem to matter whether I sacrificed the right prisoner or not.

In a way, it reminded me of Papers, Please. But there weren't enough levers for me to change the outcome. The only two things I could find to do were sacrificing people, or stabbing the guards.

Graphics were pretty good, and fairly consistent though the blood effect seemed out of place. A few small glitches here and there (esp around the lever). Music was good, and thematic, but a bit repetitive.

Apropos of Apophis by zemmi 2018-12-03T03:20:16Z

Well that was cute :D,

Pretty good art, and a good sense of humor are this game's strengths. It could have used music, to help make the mood stronger before the conclusion.

Congrats on your game!

A flight to the gallows by thomas-olsson 2018-12-03T05:52:35Z

A gem. Beautiful graphics and mood contribute to an intense and foreboding atmosphere.

I have only two complaints with this game: Sometimes when I'm flying up, I can't see what the prisoner is saying The last level was too hard for me, I couldn't beat it >.< so now I don't get to see what happens.

Apart from that, very well done, congrats on a great game :D

Mystic Shepherd by kromeboy 2018-12-03T04:04:29Z

A cool concept.

The walking is really slow, which makes the gameplay a bit frustrating. I did like the wololo sound lol. As the earlier commenter said, there doesn't seem to be a great way to win. No matter what I do, the numbers seem to go down faster than I can possibly fix them.

Ludum Dare: The Game by Darylsteak 2018-12-03T06:05:31Z

You're selling to the right audience here, that's for sure! A simple and well polished management game. I wish it were possible to know a little more about what goes into deciding if I make progress or not, because I sure didn't make much. Also sad that I got dumped and disowned :/

Pyre of Vigil by Teapoly 2018-12-03T03:28:10Z

This is a well done card game mechanic for a 48 hour game jam. Nice job!

I liked the music that was in the actual battle, but not the music of the intro.

Just a couple of critiques on the gameplay: I got confused a couple of times with the buff cards. It was confusing that I had to drag them onto the enemy to play them, naturally I was inclined to drag them to myself, which burned them. The mechanics aren't communicated super well, it could use a tutorial, though I understand how that can be difficult in a game jam.

Overall, nice job, I had fun playing it! The difficulty seems to be calibrated well too, as I finished the game with only a few cards left.

You Get Two by justalocalhero 2018-12-03T06:18:08Z

A clever idea. I like the card dragging mechanic a lot, it's very clever and fits the game perfectly. My big complaint is that it seems like the cards are trying to tell this meandering story where you have to make decisions to move ahead (i noticed that when I swapped one card back and forth, I always got the same third card), but it's hard to follow what this story is, because I can't tell what activities the icons represent.

Good core mechanic, would be nice to see more transparency around the "tree" of activities.

Ascend by Amour Du Pain 2018-12-03T03:13:07Z

Well that was interesting. As I'm sure you know, the visuals and music are excellent, particularly in the moments where they're synchronized. There didn't appear to be much in the way of gameplay though, other than flying upwards. I also struggled to connect the game to the theme. I see the description you provided, but that concept didn't really come through in the game itself.

Still, the ambiance of this game was really something, even if all the shapes were fairly abstract. I can't commend the music enough.

Hours of the Day by squirmonkey 2018-12-03T03:59:34Z

@sky-coding The email frequency does increase over time, I tried to keep it slow at the beginning though so you'd have time to read the emails. Thanks for playing!

@baknik Thanks for playing!

Hours of the Day by squirmonkey 2018-12-03T04:36:08Z

@arkinrev Yeah... it can get kinda dark if you don't keep up with things. Thanks for playing!

King's Last Stand by Pukami 2018-12-03T04:11:22Z

I really enjoy your games graphics. The little astra are quite cute. That said, I didn't feel a strong connection to the theme. Giving the ammo eyes didn't make me feel more like I was sacrificing something by using it, especially since I could always go back for more.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Life Bet by LeReveur 2019-04-30T04:42:52Z

Well done! I like the idea of using the theme as a gambling sort of thing, currency isn't just for spending. I don't think I understand the easy/risky/deadly thing. risky and deadly seem to have worse payoffs than easy?

Catiro by Riftpoint Entertainment 2019-05-01T05:47:29Z

Your graphics are excellent, and I love the references to Sekiro. The idea to do a rhythm game is very creative, though I don't see the connection to the theme. For me though, this game really struggles in the audio department, because the music doesn't match the beat, it feels very unnatural to play in time with the beat which makes it somewhat unsatisfying as a rhythm game.

The Haunting of Jonathan David Jones by Archimagus 2019-05-01T06:51:43Z

The audio is the star of this game, excellent work. The graphics are pretty impressive too. There's a lot of walking around though, and it took me forever to figure out you had to touch the paintings first. I did finish the game, though it was kinda tedious.

Would have been nice to learn more about the characters, so that throwing away their memories would actually mean something to me.

Ancient Current See by paulhocker 2019-05-01T05:12:51Z

I like this idea, it could have used a tutorial but I eventually figured out that I could hit the things more than once. I think it needs more mechanics, as it got a little bit repetitive towards the end (it looks like you were starting to build coins/speed but ran out of time?)

Life in the Fast Vein by Dorblin7z7 2019-05-01T05:28:45Z

This is a _great_ game, and a wonderful interpretation of the theme. I really started having fun once I noticed I could get extra blood by running the other racers off the road. My only issue with the game is that sometimes the collisions would be weird, it definitely didn't pick up some blood items I had hit. I made the leaderboard, but probably won't stay there long. Great work!

Blood Chest by PeachTreeOath 2019-04-30T04:55:35Z

Wow the graphics here are really impressive, I like the little hop animation too. I ran into a bug though, where the tongue got stuck out, so I couldn't fight anymore.

Samurai Zombie Girl by RobotSoulsGames 2019-05-01T06:11:24Z

I enjoyed the feel of hitting enemies with my weapons, melting them with the heavy attack was especially satisfying. It sounds like you know this, but the balance is _way_ off in this game, to the point where even after buying the best armor and weapons, I still couldn't really go anywhere because getting hit even once meant losing my arms and my weapon with them (which meant death moments later).

I got the humanize buff, figuring it would be a game win condition, but it just turned me pink, not sure what it was for. Gave up after that.

The graphics and animation are pretty solid, I don't feel the music really fits the game (it's too sad for a game this hectic)

Solid work for one weekend!

What Death Has in Store by lot9s 2019-05-01T06:17:04Z

Uh, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but this appears to be a game where you click a button and then it tells you you lost. All of the buttons make you lose. ???

Spirits of the Unknown by TheSomeoneXD 2019-04-30T04:30:57Z

It looks like your itch.io page may still be private. Have you published the game?

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-01T05:35:39Z

I like the idea here, and the flashlight is well done. I found the level design a little problematic though, because there was no way to tell which way I was supposed to go, so the decision of whether to cross a gate or not felt less like a tactical decision and more like a guess. A good fit for the theme though, well done! As the other commenter mentioned, it could use some music, but time is a big limit in these things.

Bot escape by Corbak 2019-04-30T05:23:46Z

Well done! I really enjoyed playing this game, and I like the audio as well. In the end though, it was too difficult for me >.<

Age of Coin - Battle Stars: ULTRA by squirmonkey 2019-04-30T05:25:07Z

@kadecgos Yeah, I think at some point we embraced the silly. Thanks for playing!

Age of Coin - Battle Stars: ULTRA by squirmonkey 2019-04-30T06:14:36Z

@plexsoup Thanks for playing! It's definitely possible we bit off more than we could chew with having two parts to the game

Age of Coin - Battle Stars: ULTRA by squirmonkey 2019-04-30T06:22:41Z

@rafa-braga Thanks for playing!

@dennis-jeong I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! There's definitely more work we could do on the collisons though

@maytch Thanks for playing! The landing jump can be tricky as we didn't have time to tweak it. Try holding the jump button down while you land on them, rather than trying to press it right as you hit them. And you can press TAB to go straight to battle!

King's Alchemist by Vlad Dae 2019-05-03T01:49:38Z

A solid entry, the basic management game you have here is enjoyable. I didn't really understand the link to the theme playing it (though now reading it, I see... but I beat the game easily without the blood...). Clearly, it could use some sounds/music.

The big thing I wanted during the game was that when I clicked an ingredient in the list, it would just go in the pot for me, the dragging was kinda annoying.

The Boxer's Pact: Fausts of Fury by ScalphaMission 2019-04-30T05:54:36Z

I had fun doing the boxing, and enjoyed the sort of mii-esque graphics, but after I beat the third guy a box came up telling me I lost, which I didn't understand.

The Boxer's Pact: Fausts of Fury by ScalphaMission 2019-04-30T05:59:43Z

@scalphamission I mean the box literally said like "This is the box that explains the lose condition"

Deenero by Carlos Salazar 2019-05-03T01:55:59Z

This seems like a cool concept, but some technical issues make it difficult to appreciate, the most significant of which is that the text shrinks as it appears, which makes it very hard to read.

Collecting Really Nice Cats! by cheesepencil 2019-05-03T04:45:05Z

I lol'd, and something makes me think that's what you were going for.

Welcome by agurcan 2019-05-01T06:26:40Z

Haha A cute little runner. Shame I didn't get to use the jetpack until after the game was over!

Your Life, My Currency by Jayometric 2019-05-01T05:20:21Z

What a clever idea! I'm a big papers please fan, and this checked a lot of the same boxes. Trying to quickly read through the things and make a judgement call was pretty fun. However, I think the scoring must be broken, I scored 16 right and 4 wrong and got 0 points, which doesn't seem right. Also, your flickery font hurts my eyes a little. Great idea, and well done

Treasury Trouble by Jiink 2019-04-30T04:37:09Z

I really enjoy your pixel art, especially the dude's bouncy little run animation. I think it would help to have some arrows that show you where the enemies are off screen, the first time i didn't even notice the A and B chests.

Bioenfluencer by caevv 2019-04-30T05:05:05Z

Haha, what a creative mechanic. I love the feed thing where you have to pick words out of the matrix, excellent! I wish I understood the blood/sweat/tears thing better. My sweat seems to go down when I do stuff, but I can't find any way to push it back up.

Hearts for Coins by Cubicode 2019-05-01T06:20:47Z

This is a clever idea, but the platforming is a little slow, music is pretty good.

The Aging Soul by bigwhiteshogun 2019-04-30T04:29:25Z

Solid art, and a good use of the theme, though I wasn't sure what to use the old man form for?

LD46 — Keep it alive

ALIEN RESCUE by Imphenzia 2020-04-20T21:04:33Z

Cute! I love your music, I wish I could make music that well. Graphics are nice, and the sound it makes when a car hits the alien were somehow really hilarious.

My only problem was that I sometimes couldn't revive the alien, and it didn't feel like there was anything I could do about it. Several times he got stuck on the hood of a car and carried out of the level, and once the paddles didn't work and he died anyway.

Great entry overall, very impressive for 48h!

Egglicious! by miningape 2020-04-20T21:31:33Z

I won!

A nice use of the theme, the mechanic that you have to drop the egg to damage the enemies is clever.

I think the first skeleton starts a little too close, and it would have been nice to have a more interesting animation for the attack.

Obviously more levels would have been nice, but time is always a constraint.

DJ Data Bender by binroot 2020-04-20T03:08:38Z

I can't get your web version to work! After it loaded, I clicked the button on your title screen, and there was a loud buzz followed by chrome crashing. Let me know if you get it working again

DJ Data Bender by binroot 2020-04-20T04:11:30Z

Ah yeah, it worked in firefox!

Juggle Jungle by shaulor 2020-04-20T21:52:09Z

This was pretty fun, very difficult!

I like the art, and found the mechanics pretty fun. It's really hard though, I gave up after trying for several minutes to get past the part with three short sticks and three tall sticks with spikes over them.

I don't think your music really fits with your artwork, the art seems kinda cheery and cute, while the music seems gloomy and mysterious.

Nice work!

OtherworldlyFlavors by erebus 2020-04-21T07:11:11Z

I did it! It took me a _lot_ of tries to realize the trick. I liked it, overall, it reminded me of that mobile game Reigns.

As the above commenter said, the time I won I wasn't reading anything because I already knew what was going to happen. I was just trying to keep count of everything and make sure I had what I needed to keep things under control. More variety or more ways to succeed would have been more interesting.

It is very polished and I liked the drawings and flavor though!

Ecorobotical by TomekS 2020-04-20T03:31:46Z

Really well done! The graphics here, obviously, are great. I like the sounds too, especially the robot tread sound. The robot slides around in a way that's really satisfying, however I found myself wishing there was less inertia on the rotation, I had trouble getting him to face exactly how I wanted (it did make him feel a lot like one of those RC cars when you're hamfisting the controls, so maybe that's by design).

I sometimes had trouble telling which way the robot is facing, since you can't really see his face from above.

Great job, very impressive for a weekend!

Coronary Flypass by squirmonkey 2020-04-20T03:15:35Z

@nick-barrash Those pigeons suck, every drone operator's worst nightmare! Glad you enjoyed it :D

Coronary Flypass by squirmonkey 2020-04-20T03:23:36Z

@splicedev Glad you liked it!

@madbookstudios Haha yeah, I was going for a superhero kinda sound, like "here I come to save the day!" kinda thing. Not a musician though, did what I could. Glad you liked it

@garett-cooper Yeah, the drone controls accelerate it, so they can be slow, especially if you're already moving the other way. This is by design, so that it's possible to keep the heart in the basket. And to encourage applying the controls with a gentle touch so you dont end up going too fast and unable to change directions. Glad you enjoyed it

Coronary Flypass by squirmonkey 2020-04-20T03:53:37Z

Oh my gosh, wow so many comments. Thank you all so much for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed!

@martintale Glad you liked it!

@stevis93 I love when you lose the heart, but then catch it again! Also seriously, whoever the patient is, they must have a lot of enemies. Thanks for playing!

@rjerez192 Haha thanks! I would have liked more levels, and more types of obstacles too. But time constrained me, and I was pretty tired of making levels by the end of it.

@zwodahs Thanks for playing! Flappy bird is definitely one of the inspirations for this game. Level 6 is designed specifically to look like flappy bird. I considered using the voiceover on that level to make a reference to it, but decided against it.

@blackopsben It cracks me up too, I thought I would get tired of it, but watching the heart rolling around is too good. Thanks for playing!

@jetthesimon Thanks for playing! Glad you appreciated my sense of humor. They sent snipers? Who does that?!

@fussenkuh Something about the pigeons and the heart and the twirling is just really absurd. I especially like when one of the pigeons gets in the basket and carries you away! Thanks for playing!

@mrfluffysheep It fills my heart to hear you like the art. I feel like I've really improved there over the past few ldjams, and kinda thought I nailed it this time. Thanks for playing!

@viniflores Glad you enjoyed it. You're right that it's challenging. I wanted there to be hard levels, because people said my last compo game was too easy (lol). But I didn't have time to make enough levels to have a smooth difficulty curve, so it suddenly gets really hard around the pigeons level. Thanks for playing!

@dnp Yeah, it can be pretty tricky, especially when you get hit. And you're right, would a lid have been so much to ask for? Thanks for playing, glad you liked the voiceover!

@sayumeki Haha, glad you enjoyed it! It's very satisfying when the heart flies out, but you're able to save it  . I'm thrilled to hear you liked the background, I liked it too, but was a little worried it would be distracting.

@alex-chrome Thanks for playing! And yeah, that's one of those things where I just couldn't tell if it was going to be annoying or not, and decided to leave it in, sorry it bothered you!

@zzox Glad you liked it! I had a lot of fun recording the voices. It's always amusing to listen to a playback of your own voice and think "No, not gravelly enough, better redo that one". The difficulty curve definitely spikes at level 3. Honestly, the snipers are easier than the pigeons, but it didn't seem right to swap the order. And to any speedrunners out there, you can start flying as soon as the level loads, even before the camera sweep is done, as long as you can fly blind!

@forevertrash Glad you enjoyed it, and particularly heartened to hear praise for the artwork, that's definitely something I'm proud of my improvement in.

Coronary Flypass by squirmonkey 2020-04-20T03:59:12Z

@piko-monde Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it. And yeah, probably putting a lid on the basket would have been a smart idea, I'll pass your feedback along to the hospital

@psychic-ash Glad you liked it! I don't know what a pck file is, but I figured everything that gets generated should be included.

@greytyphoon Thanks for playing! Why can't that darned basket just stay still? My only regret is not being able to have my voiceover sound more like the guy from XCOM.

@anchoredtoad Thanks for playing!

Coronary Flypass by squirmonkey 2020-04-20T17:39:42Z

Wow, the response here has been overwhelming. Thank you all so much for playing!

Witching Hour by CaseyH 2020-04-20T03:14:12Z

Simple, but more fun than I expected. I liked the variety of spells, it got harder really fast! The music was nice too, though I think the sound effects on the spells got a little annoying.

I'm in this picture and I don't like it

Beware the Dark by Lone_Wolf 2020-04-20T20:56:02Z

If this is your first try at making music, you're good at it. The music is seriously foreboding and adds a great deal to the game's atmosphere. I also liked the effect of the light on the tree trunks as you pass them by.

As others have mentioned, the gameplay is a bit basic, though when I was travelling full speed to the right, it reminded me a little bit of something like bit trip runner.

I think more variety in the level layout (especially some verticality) would make the player go slower, and contribute even more to the eerie mood you're going for.

Beware the Dark by Lone_Wolf 2020-04-20T20:56:10Z

Edit: Oops my comment posted twice!

Joe, the balance by Gonzo13 2020-04-20T21:25:36Z

Oh boy, I think Joe needs to cut back on his drinking. A clever idea, and nice pixel art.

I think it needs a little more polish though, and balance like you say. I couldn't get through the second level, because it's really hard to get him to balance when he's holding 7 bricks.

Nice work!

Satisfy'n: Keep the Love Alive by BlackOpsBen 2020-04-20T02:41:24Z

Well this is cute! The game play is simple, but still hectic in a fun way. A tutorial on where I was supposed to go would have been nice, but I didn't have much trouble figuring it out.

I like the art and the music, and the tiny children running around was funny too.

I had to stop playing after getting the car though, because the noise was driving me crazy.

Nice work!

Bob The Bog Roll Defender by Ch4oticAU 2020-04-20T02:55:57Z

I really like the audio in this game, the gunshots, the voices, and the music are all very well done! I would have liked some more variety in the enemies, they get kind of repetitive (maybe this comes later, I didn't get so far).

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Divey (VR Only) by shadowbrain 2021-04-28T02:06:43Z

Alrighty, I played this game on a Valve Index with 2 index controllers on my PC with a 1080.

Once I figured out how to walk, it took me a hot minute to figure out where the entrance to the sub was. Once there, it was a bit of a struggle to swim in, but I got it.

Controlling the sub was great! The little controller thing that looks just like my controllers was super fun. Controlling the sub is by far the best part of the game, I wish it had all been about that.

Because... the swimming didn't work for me at all. The first time I played it, I got to the observatory, put on my mask, opened the sub, and then drowned in the airlock. Because I spent the whole 2 minutes trying to swim out the door. The second time I closed the door on myself like ten times, and then got outside, and immediately floated back to the surface, my futile swim gestures powerless against my own buoyancy.

Very ambitious to create a VR swimming mechanic in a game jam, maybe I just didn't understand it, but it didn't work for me. If you have a tutorial or video or something on how to do the swimming, I'll try it again lol.

Cavity Tycoon by Roberto Romao 2021-04-27T04:41:55Z

Did I just... build a colony... inside a tooth?

My big critique would be that it feels like the threat mechanic was too harsh. Because digging increases threat, you cant dig or explore as much as I wanted. I spent a lot of time just waiting for the next brush or meal.

I couldn't tell the difference between the buildings really. Once I had one each of the first two, I started winning, and then it didn't really matter what I did as long as I didn't dig too much.

Neat idea, clever use of the theme!

Journey To The Center Of The World by paulhocker 2021-04-27T04:17:37Z

Simple, but effective!

I liked the art for the crystals. And I appreciate your dedication to the theme in letting us go all the way through the planet. I made it just past the center of the planet, which I consider a win.

Nice work!

Oumuamua - From Outer Space to Deeper and Deepr Down the Well by Nikolaj 2021-04-28T01:35:18Z

Neat graphics. I didn't understand at first that my movement was absolute. I figured W and S were controlling my speed and A and D were turning me, but that's not how it is, so that took some getting used to.

After that I didn't have much trouble navigating, it's very easy to control, so props there.

Obviously, some goals would have been nice.

I was sad that I wasn't able to get the ship to orbit the planets, maybe their gravity isn't strong enough for that?

I didn't really understand the relationship to the theme, sure I was in space, but I was going in and out of the system, kinda all over.

Nice little sim!

Minexile by legavroche 2021-04-27T04:02:22Z

Wow, you've got like, a whole little RTS thing happening here.

I found it a little difficult to micromanage. I would have liked it if the miners would just mine, and I could focus on bigger strategic decisions like what to buy and how much food to get.

Nice idea, very impressive to build in a jam.

Foundations by cottontshirtz 2021-04-27T04:23:01Z

I liked the visuals, very stark the red on green.

I think some of the narrative weight was disrupted by the fact that I kept falling off. Like over and over

Clowns Aren't Funny by NDHR Productions 2021-04-27T04:05:49Z

However, I didn't appreciate being subjected to the constant squelching sound. That got old fast.

Curiosity by Bodaciouslycrazy 2021-04-27T03:58:50Z

Wrath of the Stone by squirmonkey 2021-04-27T03:50:35Z

@greybeetle Hey, glad you enjoyed blowing them up! It is supposed to have a game over screen if they get all the gems... I wonder why they stopped coming. Must be a bug, sorry!

Wrath of the Stone by squirmonkey 2021-04-27T04:03:23Z

@natethegreat @goggleskitty Yeah... ultimately once you get into it the intents are mostly just to help you figure out what the dwarves do in general. Once there's a ton of them you just kinda have to trap places you think they're going to go and laugh as they die. Thanks for playing!

Wrath of the Stone by squirmonkey 2021-04-27T04:06:35Z

@greybeetle Glad to hear you're enjoying it! I've been trying to reproduce that bug and haven't figured out how >.< Let us know what your high scores are!

RogueRally by ComicSans 2021-04-27T03:32:56Z

Based on the name, I'd guess you took inspiration from RoboRally. And for a game jam, it's very neat that you built this roguelike level gen and robot control system. Props for 3d as well

I think what's missing from this that makes Robo Rally successful is time pressure. If there were enemies or something to put pressure on the player, you'd have a real winner here.

Nice work

Callisto by Rawb 2021-04-27T03:03:41Z

A nice chill submarine game. I liked how the ship moved especially.

I wished there would have been more variety in the environments.

The shark I think was a little too difficult, I found it disappointing that after I got past him, the game was over immediately, seemed a bit anticlimactic.

Nice work!

Nav's Endless Nightmare by Zizhen96 2021-04-27T03:07:39Z

Some really beautiful pixel graphics here.

I didn't understand why my health kept going down even though I wasn't getting hit. If this was supposed to be a time mechanic, I didn't like it.

Inner Pieces by Eckkert 2021-04-27T03:26:00Z

Wow cool stuff.

I didn't read your instructions, so at first I was pretty lost about where I could move and where I couldn't. But I eventually got the hang of shooting things and the colors and such. So then I wandered for a long time. I was just about to be like "wtf where am I going" when I Remembered the theme, and went down.

Nicely done, the moving through colors system is very cool.

Enter The Golfeon by Steven C 2021-04-27T05:00:36Z

Wow. No joke, the best game of the jam for me so far. Loved it.

I only got 1 golden monkey out of 7 (because I have to ever sleep), but I did finish it! Really good stuff. Enjoyed thoroughly. Last bit was especially fun too. I need more levels!!!

The music was a bit repetitive though.

Caverns of Mal'Dur by suvi 2021-04-27T04:10:03Z

Aw man, this one looks cool but I don't have a mac or linux to play it on :( big sad.

Caverns of Mal'Dur by suvi 2021-04-28T00:56:08Z

Hey we got a web build!

Okay, so as others have said, the font choice here is a big problem. For a game that has so much text, you want a crystal clear font, and that's missing here.

The game bills itself as an archaeology game, but that's not really what happens here, its more like a city builder. You have to place districts near other districts that give them a bonus, until you find the "go deeper" tile. That's cool, but it makes the theme feel a little distant from the gameplay.

I liked how the tiles would kinda hint at what needed to go near them. A lot of times with this sort of game you just have to guess and the developer is like "duh anyone would know that temples and markets go together" but players don't know that by default, so good on you for making it a kinda puzzly thing.

I didn't understand why I'd want to go deeper. Are there better tiles down there? I don't know. Moreover, I didn't really understand how I could influence how fast I got deeper. It seemed to mostly depend on whether I got tiles that drew more tiles or not.

Some eerie exploration music would have helped the mood

Overall, nice game idea, good job making it in the time, it has a very clean and polished look!

Work In Progress by Aquarii 2021-04-28T00:58:31Z

Hey dude, your link says localhost. That link will only work if the game is already running on a local computer. You need to provide the source and instructions on how to run it locally, or else find someone to host it for you.

My name ? by nyanpierre 2021-04-28T00:46:30Z

Solid little point and click, and well made for the time. I had to go to the solution because I didn't notice I could click on the TV, of all things. Other than that though, I figured it out.

I think the audio at the middle level could have been a little softer. Some instruction on what was going on at the start of the game would have helped too.

Nice work!

Golem by TobyMurray 2021-04-27T03:15:00Z

Really nice animation work in this one

I enjoyed the mechanics, generally, though I had a hard time understanding which things each type of body could do. It was sometimes tricky to get the body swap to happen the way I wanted.

The good news is that I wanted to play again, the bad news is that the play again button didn't seem to work.

I'm not sure I understood the connection to the theme.

Nice job!

LD49 — Unstable

Unfabled by Kwiper 2021-10-05T06:09:35Z

Pretty fun, I enjoyed the pixel art and the variety of spells.

Towards the end of the game (level 12+) it felt like the enemies had too much health, and even when I was spamming out attacks as fast as I could, it was taking too many attacks to kill them, when most of the fun (for me) was in trying to quickly pick an attack that was the right shape for the enemies at hand.

Nice work!

Eudora by EdevJogos 2021-10-05T00:57:00Z

I like the idea of this one! I also like the graphics for the ships, and I dig the music.

I found the controls really frustrating. Almost every time I lost it wasn't because of the water, but because my little guy suicided down the bottom of the ladder. I would much prefer if I had to hold down S to go down.

Nice work!

UNSTABLE DREAMS by ROBOWARRIOR1982 2021-10-05T06:37:05Z

It was fun, but I found it a bit too punishing, I didn't want to have to do the whole balancing part over when I lost to the boss, I just wanted to try the boss again.

Cool graphical style!

TYPEROPE by Piturnah 2021-10-05T06:31:46Z

A clever idea, but sadly many keyboards can only support 3 or 4 simultaneous keypresses, which made me lose when playing this game, unfortunately.

the Bar by Very Bad Bunny Studio 2021-10-05T01:04:36Z

This is a neat idea, and I finished the game! I wished though that there were more to do at each location, as I found myself spending a lot of time waiting to get back to the scene I wanted to be looking at.

Nice work!

Good work!

The Legend of Slime Princess Jeremy by hinesite 2021-10-05T01:08:11Z

I liked that you had a minimap, that's pretty cool tech for a game jam.

I did find though that the main play area's graphics were a little blurry

Unstable Island Farming by yumao 2021-10-05T06:16:49Z

This is a clever idea, and the inspiration from other similar games is clear.

I had a really hard time playing it though, because the instruction reel was so far away from the island that I couldn't look at both at the same time, and the music didn't feel impactful enough for me to know what to do without looking at the bar.

Lovecrafting by Concker_88 2021-10-05T00:49:25Z

Very nice work!

The art and music are excellent!

The first time I played I didn't realize what I was doing, and thought I was trying to get the bars to go into the red. And then once I got them there, it was too late to fix it.

The second time I understood it and had a pretty good time! Unfortunately, I encountered a bug right at the end. I picked Humanoid, and some of the cards flew off screen and then I got the win screen and the lose screen at the same time, or something? I took a screenshot

lovecraftingbug.png

Really excellent work!
