LD44 — Your life is currency

Mr. Bank's Journey by Sheepolution 2019-05-07T06:54:41Z

This is a very unique and solid concept. Looks simple at first glance but don't let it full you. I enjoyed this one a lot. Great work for just two days!

Almost free by Listonos 2019-05-01T22:38:37Z

The controls take some time to get used to, and lack of sound is noticeable, but I love the look of the shop keeper, and the AI of the enemies. Feels like you guys run out of time same way we did, and there is something great behind it! Hope you'll work on it some more after the jam because it has potential.

A Burning Rabbit Experiment by Jani Nykanen 2019-05-01T09:57:40Z

Wow this is one tough game, don't let the cutesy art style fool you! Speaking of which, can we agree this is one of the best looking games this jam? I love pixel art and it is phenomenal, especially when we take to account low resolution the sprite were made with. Astonishing work! Love it.

Graveyard Ghost by Jesús González 2019-04-30T10:39:14Z

Nice and challenging at times game.Pleasant to look at. My only problem is the vanish mechanic, more then often I would teleport my self back while trying to use this skill.

Elthus by ejmejm 2019-04-30T10:20:33Z

Got 1.4 k deep. Very fun and enjoyable, constant upgrades makes you want to go further and play more.

The Last Dragon by FlyingKiwi 2019-04-30T10:52:30Z

The art is great. Collision feels sometimes wonky though. Overall simple but enjoyable game.

Moneyons! by Maytch 2019-05-01T18:58:09Z

really nice zelda like, loved the graphics

Billy The Man by Dani Desa 2019-05-01T09:34:56Z

Very impressive for a compo game! I love the visuals, and took me a while to figure out the theme (till I died :P). Overall very fun game the only caveat I have is the music. It gets old pretty fast and gets annoying at some point wishing there was a mute button.

Sheep It by anstabo 2019-05-01T10:08:11Z

My sheep decided to build a totem xD

sheep it funny totem.png

Very cool game I wanted to play since the first post during the jam. Great work!

Xochipilli's Trade by Giezi 2019-04-30T11:11:30Z

First try baby! Even though RNG gods were not in my favor. I love the pixel art, and music. Controls need some time to get used to though.

Death Got Your Girlfriend by Hermitao 2019-04-30T11:24:05Z

Ok I think this is my fav game so far. Amazing visuals, great sound, smooth controls. Love it.

D.R.I.E.D. by JasonD 2019-04-30T11:42:09Z

Finished and polished game. Beautiful art, top notch writing and sound design. Highly recommend checking this one out.

The Aging Soul by bigwhiteshogun 2019-04-30T04:34:15Z

Thank you everyone! It is our first entry to LD and game jam ever, and we got a little to ambitious and as you may noticed run out of time. So there is no tutorial sadly, and no reset button, and we weren't sure if adding it past the time of jam wouldn't be against the rules. To past the first image you need to press the jump key button.

The Aging Soul by bigwhiteshogun 2019-04-30T10:23:05Z

@alphazeba Aparently my teammate updated the game info but for some reason (maybe overload servers) it didn't show up. Anyway you need to press X button to skip to the next panel.

BraveBelly (Thiccboy hurdle jump sim) no download required by TomasMunro 2019-05-01T10:12:12Z

I think this is gonna be my favorite endless runner game this Ludum Dare. It definitely is my fav out of the ones I played. Not sure though how it exactly matches the theme here if I would have to nitpick.

LD45 — Start with nothing

Uballto by Omiya Games 2019-10-10T06:58:34Z

Very cool idea! Had fun beating it, wish there were more levels ;)

Unlock Everything by DDRKirbyISQ 2019-10-08T23:38:06Z

You tried to achieve something similar we tried with our jam entry, but you got something amazing. This is incredible amount of polish for the compo. Amount of fun I had with it is hire than in any other comp I played so far.

Revelator by gamesplusjames 2019-10-08T21:39:01Z

Very interesting twist on arcanoid. It would be awesome if there was a penalty for not catching the ball or something, but overall great concept, and good execution.

Tactical Bodybuilding by SuperTibbles 2019-10-08T17:09:17Z

Great concept, but the game needs some more work. The core mechanic works very iffy.

A_semblance by D1gital Cuts 2019-10-09T00:55:09Z

JESUS ! This is so awesome. First of all, it has to be said. Something about this game got our attention even before the jam have ended. Maybe it was it's art style, maybe slick animations, or mood, probably all of those above. And then we lost it in the sea of the games upon release, but you found us. I'm not joking this is the highest I ever rated the game ever during LD. I freaking love it! I love controls, mechanics, ost, sfx, animation, ART STYLE!!!. Oh not mentioning the ending I won't spoil.

Is there a way to follow you on social media? I hope you continue working on this game and make something great out of it, at least I think you have a proof of concept of great game in your hand!

PS We were actually planning first to have rocket boots as last upgrade for BoBo as well, that would work exactly the same as your jetpack, we even had it coded in the game and working. But then the idea of propeller ala inspector Gadget came to our minds and there was no going back from it.

MU: The empty Fist by JesusAcHe 2019-10-08T22:49:26Z

Death animation is so awesome I said it on stream and I'll repeat myself here. If you played this game and haven't payed attention and you don't know what I'm talking about, go and play it again. And make sure to die and watch closely. It's so fun ;)

Alchemicraft by chaosed0 2019-10-09T01:22:26Z

Very impressive entry. The only two things that I missed where descriptions of the items I picked and lack of musing (that sea sound gets annoying pretty fast). Over all amazing work guys!

Faze by Xenoxygene 2019-10-08T23:01:01Z

I usually don't like low poly games ( said pixel artist, I know, hypocrisy :P ) but this one, when I first saw it on stream surprised me a lot. Even though it is low poly it's also somehow visually stunning. The way stuff warps in to existence out of thin are is stunning. Impressive game over all for just 72 hours of dev time.

The Glowing Adventure by Clickbait 2019-10-10T08:21:04Z

I expected much more less from the first glance.I was positively surprised at what I got. The attack takes some time to get use to, but other then that you are good to go. Additional wave/horde mode was a nice touch. Also you have huge potential as an artist. Nice warm palette, good eye for the colors. Specially the second tree background shows huge potential, word of advice keep doing what you doing and you will improve a lot, I can feel it.

In Time Like These by miu 2019-10-08T17:01:41Z

Very solid proof of concept that needs some balancing out. Maybe day meter should speed up more when you go out so there is some downside of doing so. I would also recommend a button like wait till tomorrow that you can press but will cost you food and water, or if you don't have this will lower your food and water metere.

HONK by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2019-10-08T23:49:35Z

Game is to easy and needs increased difficulty, at least progressing difficulty scaling as time pass by. If there is one I haven't noticed. I played till I died on purpose to see what happens if I eat one rocket to the face. But... we were both waiting to play your game since we saw firsts posts during the jam with the screenshots and the name of the game. And we were correct, game is super fun and solid, though quickly get's repetitive due to the reason I mentioned above.

BoBoBot by bigwhiteshogun 2019-10-09T16:24:25Z

@mungo @dimlight yes this part of the map is my biggest failure next to the flaw in design where you can get stuck past the magnets. I don't want to move it to much though, as I want this to stay the most faithful experience to the original release. We will continue to work on the game though for sure. @zoarfy thank you for your feedback, if you want you can try out the PC build, that actually already includes the final patch which next to minor and major bug fixes also implements coyote time as a trial. My friend and programmer is kind of purist if it comes to platforming designs and prefers point perfect accurate jumps. But I managed to convince him to try to make it more forgiving as an experiment. @baski hell yeah it is! thank you. @d1gital-cuts thank you so much bro, not sure if you saw my comment under your game, but your entry is my favorite so far in the jam, and the highest rating I've ever gave. @emma-b @namnam thank you guys for your feedback, I tried BoBo to look cute I'm happy I managed to achieve that. Also we added PC build which have a lot of improvements, including more forgiving jumps, if you would like to check it out. Also we added little secret area as well :)

New Project by TheMiSta92 2019-10-12T22:54:44Z

I have to be honest. I didn't like the game. Controls are to floaty, and character is to slippery to my taste. For me full control over my character in platformers is very important, otherwise it becomes unpleasant very quickly. I can tell you guys are new to game making and there is nothing wrong with being new. But I want you guys to get better so I give you few tips. I'm not a programmer, I'm a lever designer and pixel artist. Level design seems to be fine but I haven't got pass the pit with fire balls. Till that point it was ok. The idea is very interesting and fit's the theme nicely as well. Now graphics. Ohh boy, you guys have committed the biggest no no when it comes to pixel art. In unity whenever you import new sprites, you want to make sure each of the imported sprites will have same pixel per point value. Your pixel art looks lovely, problem is it gets ruined by different scalling. You can see that trees are two times smaller in scale than te main character, and tile set itself is even smaller. Also the enemy sprites seems weird and out of place. All of this creates this visual feel of a Frankenstein game or an asset flip if you prefer. It's something I would try to avoid by any cost in the future if I were you.

Please continue making games, I really want to see how much you guys will improve in April.

LEGION by crunchykingcobra 2019-10-08T21:12:38Z

I love the all animations and the concept. Gameplay is super fun and dynamic, and the mood is thick and creepy. One of my favorite games of this Jam for sure!

Day Zero by Emma B 2019-10-08T17:17:09Z

Awesome idea and great execution! Love the art, sound and the mechanic.

Locked by Nocity 2019-10-10T09:55:01Z

That was super cool little game, I liked it a lot I wish there was more than just one level.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Econaut by tyranosaw 2020-04-24T18:27:12Z

I love it. One of my favorite entries this jam. Simple and yet it still hooks you in. I got in to zone playing it, zen like experience. I love the music, and the art. Beat it very quickly :< I wish maybe there were more levels, what I'm trying to say I wanted to play it more and don't end ;) Gj guys!

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-24T12:36:21Z

I unlocked everything and I've beaten the game twice. I dominated the world! Love the visuals and the sound over all. When I first opened your game I was like"ohh great, a clicker, sight, my give it a go since I already opened it". I spend like good 20 to 30 minutes clicking. My right arm is so sour it hurts to even write down this comment so I'll speed up. I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. I have only one question, what Hunger meter does? I let it run out twice out of curiosity and nothing really happened, except for a new voice line.

Rise of the Purple Slime by NateTheGreat 2020-04-24T11:40:52Z

Must be my favorite game of the jam so far. Amazing concept, super fun to play, and even more satisfying to grow your own parasite! My wild fantasy of becoming the destroy of the worlds finally came true :) Thank you!

The Dragon's Curse by Aditya Kumar 2020-04-24T12:15:49Z

Funny and eyes pleasing. Sadly after many tries I feel like if you win or not only depends on your luck as randomness is to strong and I never felt like it was my fault that I failed, or that I could've done something better. Also the popup about the mist, if you decide to continue walking, second option won't work and you are forced to wait anyway. Overall really nice entry.

Seven Nights by bigwhiteshogun 2020-04-23T18:08:53Z

@wischi @kosmik123 Yeah we hear you guys. To be honest what you guys seen was like maybe 30% of the original design. We would love to add crafting recipes but we run out of time, and we had many more important stuff to finish first, that were necessary for the players to be able to beat the game. We will continue working on it more though and post our progress on itch.io ,

PS also you can heal by either crafting healing potion or by sleeping, though sleep only recovers small amount of your HP.

Seven Nights by bigwhiteshogun 2020-04-23T20:28:07Z

@mika-la-grand what is not very obvious is that you can't do everything on day one, actually you can't really do that much on the first day. Some items show up later on, that's why you need to progress nights.

Seven Nights by bigwhiteshogun 2020-04-23T21:56:12Z

@wischi you mean possible items to craft, or literally what you made with what ? If it's a list of items, yeah I don't see it being a bad thing. But spoiling how to make stuff is like basically telling how to beat a game and spoil what is in our opinion a core part of our game. The feel of discovery.

Movin' and Keepin' Alive by G.A.GameStudio 2020-04-23T12:14:01Z

Wooow dude! I'm more than twice your age, and I wouldn't be able to achieve what you did here. Very impressive, please do not stop and continue making games. Great thinks awaits you I'm sure if you do!

Keep Pit Alive! by BunnyDen 2020-04-24T12:03:38Z

Visually game looks awesome. Gameplay is a little bit stiff for my liking when it comes to the platformers. Horse is not very reponsive, sometimes he slides off the edge and gets weird momentum. Also the hazards work really weird. Sometimes I got killed by not touching anything, once the falling boulder killed me when I touched it after it fall down and was lying on a ground. Over all there is a lot to polish and improve. I'll give you guys a follow to see what you will come up next time, as I'm sure with time you will improve a lot.

Keep Pit Alive! by BunnyDen 2020-04-24T12:38:24Z

@ponypen I figured that much. I really hope you guys stick around, and continue making games. I can promise you with each entry you guys will do better and more amazing games! Take care o/

CRAZ by RexTGun 2020-04-23T20:04:36Z

Super cool game and cool concept! Worth continue working on I'm sure. Wish you had someone who could do visuals for you, that's the only thing I felt the game was lacking of to be fully fantastic entry. Still amazing work!

Feed the Turtle King! by Butzbo 2020-04-23T20:24:10Z

very very nice entry, maybe not as innovative but it works and fits the theme. I love the graphics, huge fan of your style.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Hide and Seek by DDRKirbyISQ 2020-10-07T06:20:01Z

Maybe my favorite game from you guys and first I won't finish :P Will come back to it later though, for now some rest for my poor heart. Fantastic entry over all!

Loop Frogs by GaryS 2020-10-07T18:02:23Z

The concept is awesome, I love the art style. The goofy walking animation of the green frog makes me laugh every time I keep staring at it. I had one bug though, my brown frog doubled for some reason. I also wish there was a button or option to restart the loop of the green frog without overriding it.

Guntasy by bigwhiteshogun 2020-10-08T11:02:45Z

@iluvatar did you try the download version ? did both windows and webgl been laggy? We know WebGL can cause some freaky issues on chrome sometime and massive frame drops on some machines.

Undead Carnival Carnage by dummydojo 2020-10-08T05:44:55Z

what a fantastic little game. visuals are astonishing, music and mood are great too. Overall great entry, one of my favourite. Definitely best looking pixel art I've played this jam so far.

I've Been Busy Being Dead by instrex 2020-10-07T06:50:05Z

Alright this is my favourite so far. Amazing art, great sound and fun gameplay! I loved playing it so much in fact I manage at one go get to 8 people scared!21a187e672a6bc27d0be4072cdd62282.png 5/5!

Looper by Shortbread 2020-10-07T18:08:25Z

Very solid entry. Not sure what else I can say, the mechanic is interesting and perfectly executed, music is chill, and level design is spot on. Enjoyed every level so far :)

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Gelato Drift by thomz12 2022-10-05T13:45:50Z

What an amazing little game ! I cam here from your blog post about how you created the Ice Cream track, but the gameplay it'self was really fun and kept me here for longer. Having a Leaderboard system is also neat!

[X-ED OUT] by Nash 2022-10-10T15:59:13Z

Oh god I don't remember when was the last time and if ever, that I gave away so many 5 stars! Like the game is almost perfect, it's addictive, it's fun, it uses the theme well, and has a banger soundtrack that I could listen on its own. I'm super impressed. Congratz to the whole team you guys did great!

Crazy Carrier by Attala 2022-10-05T14:57:45Z

this is such unique and cool idea, at least for me, I've never played anything like it. It gets super challenging pretty quickly. Great job.

Honk Hard by bigwhiteshogun 2022-10-04T12:46:46Z

@mypalmike Hi o/. We're so sorry about the issue. We didn't notice that our final update didn't properly get uploaded to itch.io. We fixed our mistake and link works again. We hope you give us a second chance ;).

10 seconds Delirium by Furano 2022-10-05T14:04:12Z

You know what those guys reminded me of? Melons. Sadly on all three playthroughs sooner or later I got somehow out of bounds even though I tried my hardes to not get close to the walls. When the game later becomes more intense it so so much fun I kept forgetting that. Over then that one bug I really enjoyed playing it, good sounds and feedback (something I deeply miss in my game) reminded me of how important those are to the entire experience. Great game :)

Amazing game with beautiful art! Great job team, all of you did great!

Orzeł by NoelOskar 2022-10-10T15:47:39Z

Bro, I played most of your games and it is so satisfying to see how you improve with each one of them. Specially when it comes to movement and the feel of the character. Even your pixel art is getting better and better. For such short amount of time this game is still one of the best platformers I player this JAM. Congratz man, I hope you had a cold one after the jam, you deserve it!

Bygone Melodies by Save Sloth Studios 2022-10-05T14:35:54Z

Art, Music and the Mood deserved like 6 start but I was only able to give 5 :C What an incredible feat this game is for you guys! My sincere congratulations !

This Metal Heart Still Beats by QueenOfSquiggles 2022-10-21T19:51:49Z

wow, as someone who's technically challenged this game is amazing :O kudos man

LD52 — Harvest

A Day in the Life of Death by DDRKirbyISQ 2023-01-16T15:36:09Z

yes, yesssss, YESSSS! Cocoamoss is back baby! And what return this has been, this must be my favorite game of your so far, the art is better then ever, the music fantastic as always and game is so fun, charming and heartwarming. When my cat yelled at me cause I started spamming my space made laugh so hard I almost fall down from my chair. Not spoiling anything but the ending made me so happy, with widest smile possible present on my face the whole time.

Adelie - Water Under the Bridge by Meep 2023-01-12T09:28:24Z

another game that I saw on one of the streams and immediately fell in love even without playing it. Playing it though was exactly how I thought would be, super fun and addictive! I'm a pixel artist so I always focus the most on the graphics, and I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of the pico8 graphics. Somehow, you madlad, have no idea how, but you made this game look so so good. With such small resolution, your game still looks super clean, easily readable and cute. I love your enemy sprites and the penguin is adorable. On top of that gameplay is simple and as mentioned before very addictive, with you somehow squeezing it randomly generated levels that never feel cheap, unfair or unbalanced. Not sure if its good programming or great game design or both, but it doesn't matter. What matters is that you're very talented developer and can't wait to play more of your stuff in the future. Amazing job for a compo game!

@edit OMG I just checked your previous games! All of them have penguins and the naming pattern <3 ... that's some sick dedication and I love it even more now :P

The Gold'n Apples by kikiriki367 2023-01-12T04:36:38Z

I'm so dumb for taking so long to understand the simple rules. This game is AWESOME! It took me some time for it to finally click with me but when it did I had ton of fun. The simple pixel art is beautiful and the game has amazing mood. This is the most original game this jam I had play thus far. I have only grape with the game that really pissed me on few occasions. I wish that you could deselect picked tile by just simply choosing other tile.I screwed myself over few times but forgetting it doesn't work like that. Pressing the white square in my opinion is less intuitive option, or should be on of the options to change the tile. Regardless of that I enjoyed my time with this game tremendously. Also I believe this could be a really nice mobile game.

And as promised my Islands. The first island is half empty cause I'm slow and didn't thought about farming it till I max out space, and traversed to the other Island as soon as I had enough money :P

@offworlddemon thank you for your feedback and for playing our game,we agree the issue you mentioned is annoying and it somehow slipped through with the latest update. We will post hot fix soon for it <3

@joe-eric thank you so much, we're happy you enjoyed playing our game.

Super Plantoid by dans17 2023-01-12T15:43:34Z

@therealjtgill hi, thank you for your kind words. About your problem, our game was conceptualised as metroidvania even if simple one, but mostly based on platforming first. So when you start the game you don't have any special abilities all you can do is jump, jump down from thin platforms and move around. You need to first find the seeds/power ups to be able to plant them in those glowing soil spots, harvest them and use.

Hoope you give it another go and enjoy the rest of the game. Good luck o7

Super Plantoid by dans17 2023-01-13T00:50:35Z

@kikiriki367 thank you so much for kind words, we really are trying to fix some pestering issues that keep us sleepless at night, nad on top of our priority list is that bloody darkness bug.

About how we manage to make it in such short time, trust us, we are as surprised as you are, cause we cannot believe ourselves. If you would like to hear more in details, each one of team members is planning to write down a blog about his experience this jam and what each one of us did and how we did this.So follow us up here on LD page to be notified when those blog post eventually go up.

About the artijokes, first, it makes me so happy to know there are people who like playing our game so much they wanted to finish it 100%. I don't want to spoil completely what happens when you collect all of them to other people, so I'll leave with a hint. Your fantastic, amazing and definitely not disappointing reward for collecting all of the artijoke you can find at the end of the game credits :P We hope you find it worth your time and effort, and not lame at all :P

Super Plantoid by dans17 2023-01-13T02:27:06Z

@kikiriki367 I already followed you cause I don't want to miss any new game you gonna make next jam. To do it you simply click on the red link next to my nickname above me, that should take you to my profile, and there should be big blue button that says follow. When you do that whenever I publish something or post a blog you'll get notification in the right top corner, same way you got it now when I @ed you.

Super Plantoid by dans17 2023-01-13T08:41:01Z

@kikiriki367 we are working on some small patches and change to the game so there will be tad bit more content but not to much, after that we are done with the game basically.

Ohh also I gave your game to one of the streamers who played LD games and they liked it a lot ;)

Super Plantoid by dans17 2023-01-14T06:25:41Z

@pyspher9 thank you for letting us now. I just wanted to make sure, you couldn't jump down from the platform with any of the possible control combinations right ? DPAD Down + jump, s + jump, or arrow down + jump? If you could confirm this we have another lovely bug to squash.

You won't be able to interact with anything till you get to the first power up, when you start the game all you can do is jump, run around and jump down from the platforms.

EDIT: We also agreed with the team that we have to make some sort of indicator that you can jump down through the platforms. For people who never played platformers or sidescrollers is not obvious and they often think they are stuck which is not good.

@yorsh the intermediate checkpoints are the power ups, whenever you pick one you progression is saved, but yes we agree there should be some sort of extra thing I even have prepared and icon that will show whenever that happens, we just didn't had time to implement it yet :C

saving animation.gif

@la-bread you can avoid hitting the ceiling with your head by adjusting your jump height. Depending on how long you hold your jump down, the longer it is the higher the character jumps. If you just slightly tap the key button character should jump way lower avoiding does nasty bruises ;)

Super Plantoid by dans17 2023-01-23T23:58:33Z

@sephowepho thank you for kind words, you may be the first person who noticed one of my inspirations :) Outer Wild had huge impact on me as an artist in general.

Doki Doki Ninjin by ChevalBancal 2023-01-17T07:36:33Z

It's amazing how much content you guys managed to fit in in such short amount of time, and gives me a lot of joy knowing someone else took inspiration from the same games we did :) Excellent job team!

Afterlife Assistance Agency by FishMasterino 2023-01-12T00:27:04Z

As a pixel artist myself I'm just in awe of your talent. Those faces look amazing and the amount of variation is just astonishing. Fantastic job. I do though agree with one comment that maybe UI would be better as an offscreen bar not overlapping the area where those characters walk. It happened to me few times where the guy I was looking for was hiding behind it. My absolute maximum was 12, and with each consecutive try I only got less and less simply because I couldn't stop just observing all those amazing characters and details you guys placed on them. Fantastic job!

Carvest by feor 2023-01-12T01:38:39Z

I saw your game on one of the streams and I knew immediately I have to try it out for myself. For a compo this is astonishing amount of work done.

I'm not gonna lie I cheated a bit on the last level when I found out I can just never place the wall on the ground and just hold it with my cursor and bump it directly in to incoming cars. :P still loved the game and I think you should be very proud of yourself. Fantastic job.

Moon 2023 by Ladymarengo 2023-01-27T06:33:25Z

Was this game done in pico8? Outstanding art and mood!

Bow Knight Drifter by Kostas Nik 2023-01-12T03:13:29Z

What a fun experience this was. I loved the graphics, the art style reminded me a lot about the Titan Souls game. Advance Bow is busted, it took me three tries to smite the beast! Super cool entry.

Also who't this dude? eda465c018ddb76f303b62623dd075d7.png

Bow Knight Drifter by Kostas Nik 2023-01-12T08:17:57Z

@kostas-nik yeah I almost heard the Dark Souls boss music in my head when this sprite show up. I was like oh no... second phase is coming :P This dude scared the c*ap out of me :P

Mushrun by BSMRK 2023-01-12T03:54:06Z

I'm so bad with games like this. Even though the art is cute I was so surprised when I saw the monster for the first time and I got literally scared. That design is terrifying and I will never look at the snails the same way after playing this game. Artwork is fantastic, so is the music and the mood. I'm not a huge fan of grid based movement but hey that's just my preference. I manage to build two levels of the ladder but sadly beast got me. Also I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but throwing my parts seems to be doing nothing and snail never cared about them. Needs a bit polishing but it is a cool entry nonetheless! Good job!

Collector of _ by Jujus 2023-01-12T03:38:27Z

As a pixel artist myself I tend to pay more attention to graphics, but I'm a sucker for a good platformer. Not gonna lie it took me a while to figure out how the mechanic works, but I blame that on me for not noticing sooner. I faced an issue though that almost made me skip this game. When the game loaded at first I couldn't control the character. I could swipe my scythe though so I thought I was missing something. I had to reload the game webpage to get rid of that issue (the download on this page doesn't work for me). Overall this is pretty neat game I enjoyed it enough to be glued to the screen and bit whole game. Great work. Also the art is astonishing!

Human Harvest by Gregormack 2023-01-12T01:13:43Z

This is probably so far my favorite game this jam. I'm a sucker for a good pixel art game, and this game is simply beautiful. And gameplay wise it's super fun to, though around day 20 it got really grindy to the point where collecting 350 (my record) gave me like 35% progress to the next level, and I still had like 4 upgrades left and just couldn't do it cause it felt like I would have to double the amount of playtime to finish my UFO. Regardless of that controls are super tight and responsive ( I played web build and had zero issues what so ever). The only thing in my mind that game was lacking was the enemy variation. Something like some kind of air force getting involved as time progresses would be nice and could spice up the game. Some jets hunting you from the sky would definitely help, as just flying higher up was the safest solution and tanks stopped being a threat. Also not sure how much would it screw with your game, but maybe starting in different spot on the map each time would help with repetitiveness that you struggle after 20 days. Still loved the game and could only wish there was more. Fantastic work guys!

Human Harvest by Gregormack 2023-01-13T04:34:19Z

@someday-not-today I totally understand, we did a massive game this jam as well, and we still didn't manage to implement everything we wanted. Is there any place on the internet where I can follow you guys to play updated version of the game in the future ?

LD54 — Limited Space

Adelie - Someone Like You by Meep 2023-09-30T11:27:28Z

You are back! I kept checking your page every LD to see if you posted a new game and here you are! Sadly I won't be able to rate your game this time as my team basically gave up and dissolved due to being unhappy with the theme, and I can't make game on my own as an artist who can't code. Still super happy to see you continuing tradition of pico 8 penguin games named after Adele. I hope it won't be your last one. Honestly from your honest fan :D

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Adelie - When We Were Young by Meep 2024-10-09T22:32:00Z

10/10. You scared me a lot on Sunday. When you published your game I took a break from my project to check your game and when I saw empty game page without a link, my heart slinked for a second cause I thought at first that you gave up and didn't manage to make game this time. It is a tradition of ours since we discovered your games to play them and share among the team. Every single game you create is a joy and cool experience and with history of so many games, it almost feels like UFO 50.

I was so relived later to find out you did make another Adelie game, and as always it delivers. Fun unique idea, fresh new concept and another chapter in Adelies legacy. You never stop impressing us and your games never disappoint. Here hoping for many more to come, all the best and congratulations on another fantastic entry o7 cheers.

Petri Plate Potpourri by Wendel Scardua 2024-10-10T05:30:10Z

I love it. There was no other option for me I love NES inspired games and this was right down my ally. 5/5! Will def check your other games o7

Cheddalier by outstar 2024-10-10T03:47:10Z

one of my favorites this jam, simple to understand gameplay that anyone can pick up and play, narrative and high production value, not mentioning the amazing art. Yeah this game is great! Kudos to the entire team o7

Spider Diner by Whirlwind 2024-10-10T00:23:30Z

This is fun and so uniqe. Pretty funny as well! Very cool entry.

God Awakener by WegPast 2024-10-14T17:06:10Z

Sadly something wrong is happening with the game on my PC. I can't play in fullscreen mode because of massive frame drop, also when I zoom in the creatures stop responding to my pings, especially plant ones. They always just run towards the tree and despawn spawningi even more earth elementals. I try it later on my laptop and see if that changes anything. So far though I love the art and the music, combined together they game this really odd worldly atmosphere I really dig!

Meatheads by bigwhiteshogun 2024-10-09T22:00:29Z

@kotori-itssuke Thank you for your kind words. We are extremely sorry for lack of description at the beginning, we were super tired after jam and we had to recharge our batteries before doing the extra work. Everything is in now, so we are hoping you will give our game another go. We hope you'll enjoy your time with our game more now ;)

@meep I am star struck and in awe. Every LD no matter if I take part in it or not, first thing I always do is to check if there is new Adelie game. To have you, it's creator, to play our game and play it in a state were nothing is explained, extremely buggy and unbalanced, and stick with it and figure everything out on yourself is astonishing. On top of that you beat it! Let's say this, you just reached new level of awesomeness for me. Thank you so so much for playing our game.

PS I already played your new game on Monday while taking short break from our game, def will play it some more and rate your game.

Meatheads by bigwhiteshogun 2024-10-09T22:09:31Z

@ghpxi Yeap. I agree 100% with all the feedback provided. We were aware of most of those issues even before the game was playable, and we had plans to fix many of them, sadly LD is unforgivable and we simply run out of time. We are planning on at least having a post jam version of the game with all of those issues and many more addressed. Thank you so much for playing our game.

@risminator Agree with everything you said. As mentioned above, we are aware of many of those issues and we want to fix them and improve the QoL of the game. The frog boss is hard because it was never meant to be the first encounter, or the only encounter on that matter. In my hubris I designed game with the encounter count of three, with each one introducing new units and gradually rising the difficulty. I was very naive and over ambitious, cause I'm really glad we manage to finish at least one of them :D Thank you for your feedback and your time. We hope you enjoyed playing our unbalanced game at least a bit ;)

@rincs thank you so much for streaming our game and giving it a go, we definitely can at least promise a post jam update with hopefully all of the issues the game has addressed and add more value to it. We hope you had fun playing it, specially after so many hours of streaming and being exhausted, this game must have been rough to handle. o7

Meatheads by bigwhiteshogun 2024-10-13T19:48:04Z

@ategon thank you for playing, we would be honored if you used our game in your tournament.

@wegpast as your blogpost mentioned, we had settings and everything for sound and music implemented we just run out of time to even add a royalty free track to the game XD Loosing all meat and units was supposed to be a fail state, but again we run out of time to implemented so we had quick restart option in the pause menu :P Like I mentioned, unfinished and unbalanced, it's def not my best jam game, but boy I would lie if I said it wasn't my favorite one so far XD

You were actually our 23 rd rating, but we appreciate your vote as much as if it was in any other order ;) Thank you for playing brother o7

Mini Monster Market by mira 2024-10-10T00:16:03Z

very fun and simple game, definitely helps you sharp your mind a lot. Creature designs are very cool and unique, combined with different sounds they make whenever you pick one up it it creates very memorable atmosphere. I enjoyed playing your game a lot. 3476b40bdbfcbc4823675b18e839fbb4.png

Twilight of the Forest by Perrin 2024-10-13T03:24:40Z

Did not expect the twist at the end. Also the final boss never like properly attacked me, all they did was chugging potion is that a bug?

I like the atmosphere and the art the most. Really well done!

W.A.S.P. - Warrior And Scout Protocol by Paroxysmal 2024-10-10T00:05:47Z

My only problem with the game is that it take a tad too long to ramp up. The sprites are great though some variety to the enemies would be great (maybe there are more unique sprites later on I only got to speedy red bees). Kudos for having a controller support that is always one thing I'm so grateful for cause I enjoy playing games way more that way. Overall pretty neat compo entry, I enjoyed playing it very much.

Zombies Ate My Fruits by smiley405 2024-10-10T02:02:20Z

Great little game. Gave of strong pico 8 vibes and I loved it. I only wish the colliders on enemies were a bit more precise. Overall great entry o7

The Red Beetle Squad by Vidu 2024-10-10T01:53:30Z

Ok honestly I wouldn't be surprised if this game won. The theme is on point and unique take on it makes it even better. Also this must be the best looking game this jam out of all I've played so far, as an artist myself I cannot stop admiring the character designs and the rich environment to the simple but super effective UI. I can see sharing this game with my friends and playing together during evening meetups on discord. 10/10

What Is This, An Empire For Ants? by Jaco van Hemert 2024-10-10T01:32:47Z

This was very fun. As soon as figured out that blitz is super effective no other ants stood a chance against my empite! Finished all three scenarios in one sitting. Fantastic game, great use of theme, and very unique gameplay! Kudos to you guys o7

Comrats in Arms by pierogo 2024-10-09T22:58:56Z

Wow, fantastic entry, and very ambitious. Even though it is a tactics game, it is a very chill experience. Warfare between ground rats and sky rats have never been so zen inducing. Everything works, the graphics, music and gameplay just click together. Other than some minor bugs I have no complaints.

Question, how does thermometer supposed to work? Cause I cannot figure out how to heal my units with it.

Comrats in Arms by pierogo 2024-10-10T00:27:26Z

@lisek-gagatek yeah pretty sure thats what happened to me as well, I went back and played some more and I got to he point were pidgeons stopped progressing towards me. They all would just chill either on the street near the edge of the map, or behind the dumbster. Either way asa fellow Polish dev I really enjoyed playing your game and following the journey since the first blogpost with rats fighting a transformer (is he in the game ? ). Great job once again o7

Comrats in Arms by pierogo 2024-10-10T22:40:06Z

@lisek-gagatek lol that sounds exactly like a game we ended up making, though in real time :P

Shrimpy by Kultuk 2024-10-11T22:56:50Z

The game is simple but it looks really good, ha a cool and unique twist on a genre with closing gap underneath you . Combined with the music it is very chill game. My one caveat is with the randomness, not a single time have I died due to fault of my own. Eventually sooner or later the game decided to spawn next platform way to high for me to be able to reach it. At first I thought that maybe I was doing something wrong, but after reading comments I'm not the only one who had that issue. Luckily it seems like an easy thing to patch out. Overall great entry I had fun and I hope you guys continue making more games.

Dawn of the vertebrates by Ceres 2024-10-10T00:51:14Z

I got all 5 endings and beat the game. This is a fantastic game taking the fool potential of the theme and turning it in to something really interesting and inspiring. I had blast playing and learning new things about my great great great great great (...) grandparents. Loved it!

Mightosis by Machinic 2024-10-12T00:11:27Z

I think I might've had a bug that allowed one of my cells to move in any direction even through the walls. Something that no other cell could do. I beat the game and I liked it. There is a unique idea here that could be turned I think in to fully realised puzzle game! The art style was also super cool.

Dr Shrink and the Horrors of the Infinite by Conor Wilson 2024-10-11T23:45:01Z

Holly molly! This is your first jam game? And you worked solo on it? Man kudos to you! I hope you continue your jaming journey and we can play more of your games. Since I love platformers and those are the games I make the most often I wanna share of some of my knowledge with you that will help you improve the feel of your games in the future.

First and the most important one, platformers need something the collective has been calling "coyote jump". Because your game is lacking it, very often jumps may feel unfair, or your character unresponsive. Check it out and try to implement it to your post jam version of the game would love to check it out.

Second important note, are unavoidable/ unfair enemies. When you shrink to much the mouse enemy has to be tanked. There is no way to avoid it since your jump is to low now and you cannot outrun it. Same with spiders, I feel like there is to many of them and they are relentless and feel like they spot you immediately.

Now what I loved about your game, and I really mean it is the concept. The idea and the clever use of theme was brilliant. Such a cool concept you almost made me want to make game like that, when you can see the level at first and than just shrink and shrink and unlock new passages. It's amazing how many new paths you manage to stuff in to one level. Some really impressive stuff for your first game.

Please continue your work on games, and I hope you will update this one and let us all know.

PS Just read the description part about known bugs and I can see the coyote time has been addressed already. Should've done that before I posted this wall of text. Oh well I guess I learn something today as well :P

Koi by A Priori 2024-10-11T23:54:46Z

5/5 from me, fun, stressful yet zen like game, with beautiful art style, fantastic music and unique and cool idea. Loved it, will play some more in the future for sure.

PS. Managed to achieve your sisters score!

Mole Cart by Skosnowich 2025-04-09T06:30:46Z

Fun and simple. It knows what it is and does it really well. Yeah pretty good entry I had a lot of fun playing.

Moos from the Depth of Space by notnasiul 2025-04-08T17:16:58Z

the pico 8 games over the years are becoming more and more visualy impressive to me, this one is a great example, stunning pixel art, with so many limitations. Really good work overall, and enjoyable gameplay, though I did not manage to beat the game. One last cow... one :P

Diving Suits by Wendel Scardua 2025-04-25T03:33:13Z

this sounds interesting and fairly unique entry, will try it out next time I play board games with my mates and will let you know how it went o/ thanks for sharing

Dig Digger by Transkuja 2025-04-08T17:28:55Z

Hello fellow digging enjoyers o/ Since we made game about drilling as well I took upon myself to check every other drilling related game this jam. Yours might be the most impressive one I've found so far. Pixel art is crisp and fantastic, the sound effects smooth and rewarding, and the rythm based gameplay kinda unique and fun. I really really loved how music changes according to your score and speed. Overall great entry I dig it ;) score.png

Dig in, Gus! by bigwhiteshogun 2025-04-08T22:55:53Z

@jcmonkey the map is randomly generated so you can try again, you were either lucky and creatures spawned in different place and you avoided each other or you had a bug that we don't know about and nothing spawned.

DEVLIC`S ABSORPTION by Tugaryn 2025-04-26T00:06:27Z

Art is great and gameplay, even though simple is engaging and sucks you in like an abyss. There is one major caviat I have, and those are the eggs that let you convert one resource in to another. This is the most dangerour object in the game! Not the armies (haven't been scratched once), but the crazy conversion rate. Place more than two and you are gonzo, and even with two it is hard to keep up. Simple fix would be allowing us to despawn them with a right click. Other than that the game was fantastic and very much to my liking as I love simple tile based puzzle games. They remind me of board games. GJ 0/

A Strike In The Dark by Mateu 2025-04-08T18:55:01Z

Ok this guys cooked on atmosphere alone. It can feel awkward at first but the feel and the precision of the player jumps is so good. You just have to use to it. It is great. I wish I could've smash the table at the end and break the vaze, oh well :P maybe Flint is not a rebelious child.

Diamond Divers by StraightUpGruntled 2025-04-09T07:12:00Z

thx for playing our game, I really liked what you've done it is unique and cool, with some more power ups and maybe variety in turret enemies this can be really really great!

Wizardry Catacombs by J4cko16 2025-04-25T23:30:04Z

Our first reviewer o7 sorry it took me so long to get to you, but hey I made it in time :D

Procedural generation gang what up! I got puked on at the end is that normal :P?

MAn I never know what to type in the comment section below when it comes to compo games. It's just incredible to me there are are people who can create art and music and code at the same time. Got through entire 30 levels, almost died twice, sweating bullets. The outstanding part for me in this entry was def musix and sfx. Especially music was fing great brother. Good job man!

Into The Abyss by Constance 2025-04-08T18:23:57Z

Beat it! On the easier side but there is nothing wrong with that (our game is fairly easy too). I loved the vibe and the atmosphere of the game. Visuals were really nice too. One thing I had slightl problem with was the moon like/underwater floatiness of the player character. It was missing a bit of weightiness to it. But that is my only complain solid entry overall, congratz.

I thought I did poorly but seeing others screenshot I'm quit happy with my score now :D chrome_uKRY0POabF.png

Into The Abyss by Constance 2025-04-09T06:33:51Z

@constance do not worry it is super tricky to get platforming physics right and it works pretty well in your game. I would say if you guys added water filter and pretended you are diving, this would be perfect! Thank you for sharing your game and I hope to play more from you guys next time o/

Ziggy Zapper and the Robot Factory by rogual 2026-04-23T07:00:44Z

I was impressed when I beat the game. Gameboy Color and GBA are my favorite consoles and huge inspiration to me as an artist.

Then I found out it was COMPO entry. Now I'm amazed and speechles. Puzzles are fun and engaging, not to difficult but also not straight forward. Perfectly balanced, to make you stop for a sec and think. I love the art style as well. So many rooms, nice little easter eggs, brilliant stuff. Might be my favorite thing I played so far this jam.

Great game, and very impressive UI, people who can make this stuffin just two days and make it compattible with retro hardware on top of it are insane. Beat the whole thing.Waiting for your Kickstarter now pal, goodlucky with the mummy game 07
