This game is good, I think it may be the best of the game jam, these guys cooked, the only thing it is missing is the enemy sounds. Overall, I would give it a 9.5/10, but since the story is lacking, I gotta bump it down to a 7.5 unfortunately. Good game guys, I do however thing Goo Patrol, my first 9.5 rating in Ludem Dare, is better than this game in every way.

Nice try though, can't wait to see more, overall ummm, keep daring I guess, Ludem out.

This game is sick. The physics are on point. The lighting and art are beautiful. And it has good attention to detail (like the eyes showing up in the dark).

The graphics are cool, really like the lighting mechanics. I want to see the development of the idea in the future!

This game is super fun! It takes a bit of thinking as well, along with the understanding of game physics. Well done!

Ok this guys cooked on atmosphere alone. It can feel awkward at first but the feel and the precision of the player jumps is so good. You just have to use to it. It is great. I wish I could've smash the table at the end and break the vaze, oh well :P maybe Flint is not a rebelious child.

The game concept is very interesting. It has a good challenge and manages to fit the theme well. Although it is challenging, it is not frustrating. Very well polished.

Very nicely done! At first I didn't really appreciate the idea that light pulses whenever I land, but just a few screens in and it became obvious how *excellent* of a design choice that was!

The screen transitions are soooo smooth too, I'm curious how you did that.

I would be curious how the game would feel if deaths respawned you right where you jumped from, rather than the start of that screen. When I lost almost a full screen of progress it hurt, but that could be exactly the intention, especially since it seems like the hardest jumps were at the end of each room lol.

With the length of the game, I imagine you guys couldn't simply play through the whole thing very often. So I'm extra impressed that there are no bugs in the late portions of it. A long game seems like a recipe for untested sections. Nice work!

As always, the music was incredible and set the perfect mood.

The only critique I have is that it felt bad to fall to the floor in the first room with two fast-walking guys. I didn't see a way back up, but I landed on a small part with no spikes. Bit of a soft lock (unless there was a way to recover and I didn't realize it). It felt frustrating to have to jump on spikes to die and reset, I'd rather that floor be entirely covered in spikes so I'd die right away.

Mirinae above recommended this game and wow she was right, this is awesome. The graphics are fun yet slick, the story is cute, the physics mechanics are so fun to play around with while remaining intuitive... pat yourselves on the back.

the game nailed the vibe! The visuals, the physics, and the lighting effects all add great depth. Super polished and fun!

Stunning game, I love the art and the sound design. I love the little details - main character is called flint and it creates small sparks when jumping - BRILLIANT. A great game :)

Very nice pixel art!

The game feels really nice to play. Lovely visuals and a great concept — you did an awesome job!

Nice combination of theme and idea, although simple, it's a good game!🪴

Wow, this is very very impressive. Love the design and overall concept of lighting the path. Incredible art work as well.

Excellent use of particles and lighting. Cute sprites as well, though I could not quite tell what the creatures in the cave were. Fun mechanic and good difficulty scaling on the levels.

Only suggestion I could maybe bring is having the player have at least a little glow around him instead of there being pitch-black darkness, but I also understand that's just a personal opinion.

Good job!

I feel that I am Flint King now and got to the smokin' hot food in the depths!

Simple mechanic, but well implemented and polished. I loved that you had to hit the ground to see something, was a really nice idea. In general your play with light was ingenious! Was there any way to get rid of enemies besides the small guys with the jump pad on the head? I had the feeling that the last (?) ground enemies had a small fuse on their head and I hoped that you could kindle that with the sparks you make to get rid of them, but either I was too bad to get it right or I just fantasised.

mateu 2025-04-10 06:38

@skosnowich unfortunately, no those enemies don’t have a fuse. The bright part on the top is supposed to represent a spike, so that you know that you can’t destroy it. That being said, a fuse enemy would actually be genius, and I can definitely see how you would get that confused. Thanks for playing!

Struggled with the controls (though that could just be me not being accurate) but the art was nice. Also struggled with the darkness but it does help the game feel more "depthy".

the-stewarts 2025-04-10 08:06

Awesome entry, love the feel and look of it! Would love to see a more developed version of this :)

jim-jagers 2025-04-10 08:18

The game was fun and i loved the atmosphere. I do have two nitpicks though, first is that i wish there was a clearer indicator to indicate jump strength, there where animations that kinda indicate this but with the precision required in some of the jumps having a charging bar or something would have been appreciated. Lastly the light effect whenever you land is really interesting and added some nice impact to the landing, i feel like it has a lot of potential but felt like it wasnt utilized to the best of its ability and ended up feeling kinda tedious to use in the darker parts of the map

ryusui 2025-04-13 04:16

Spectacular little game. I just wish it was a bit less frustrating - I'll confess I had to quit on the "your food is getting cold!" screen. Some of these screens really should have checkpoints midway, and as noted above, the lack of a clear jump strength indicator makes the gameplay a lot more trial-and-error than it needs to be.

Presentationally, though, it's fantastic, and I love the idea that each jump you take lights up your surroundings. That said, I'd like a control scheme that's less murderous on my wrist - playing a precision platformer like this one-handed takes its toll!

sepjani 2025-04-13 16:59

good minimalistic game with polished mechanic, one thing I want to ask is to have ability to show dialogs faster or skippable

atsh 2025-04-16 18:39

Fantastic art, especially the blob family and the amazing ligting system

The game is not for me probably - I would prefer it would just be a platformer so I can explore the cave and have fun

Still, very very pretty game
