The game both looks and sounds incredible! Super chill game.
Unfortunelty i cant give a rating since im not participating but this is a awesome game like always lol. What can i say about this game, great music, graphics are pretty cool, and gameplay is cool. I was hoping there was some cool ending when you collect all 4 things though, and there isnt really a point in collecting ice. BUT still a cool game.
@crispypear Thank you very much! Hope you enjoyed.
Its a neat little game, very relaxing. The art is great, and so is the sound design. The game is very interesting, you did a great job with this one.
Loved the music and minimal UI (also very nice tree)!
**feedback:** The ice would frequently get stuck which was a little frustrating, but maybe that's the point
Love the music and the sound design of this game. Added so much to the mood. Great work team!
What a thoroughly pleasant experience that was. Excellent sound and a fantastic mood, plus a whole map to explore! Really well done!
Beautiful and relaxing ( until it's stressful! ) -- My one piece of feedback might be that it doesn't really feel like the ice has a purpose -- though it's possible I just got lucky finding the 4 pieces in time.
Beautiful pixel art and the sound was great. Very atmospheric!
Thanks so much for the feedback everyone!! @souldzin we would definitely improve the mechanics for the ice in the future. For now it adds to the challenge :p @emery @defectivemelon I agree, the ice feels a little redundant. If we were to update, we might lessen the amount of water the magic stones give you.
like what every else said both about the music, atmosphere and game as a whole being great and that the ice is relatively useless. the idea of limiting the amount of water the stones give may work another idea would be to increase either the speed water is consumed or the distance the stones are from the tree and slow down the stones movement.if you did this the player would be forced to go get the stone and guide it back part of the way but then rush ahead of it to grab ice to replenish the water supply and return for the stone.
The "feel" of this game is really nice. It's graphically cohesive and pleasant enough to look at that it could be a released title. The music is a nice tune, and I really liked the seamless change you got when you went to the outer reaches.
I ran into some unfortunate issues with the ice wrangling clogging up a 1 tile wide path, which was a fine challenge to deal with, but when you're down to the wire on water, the handling on those ice cubes becomes very important. If I'd lost because of that, I probably would have quit - feels unfair. Additionally, ice is generally useless unless you mess up like I did - I think making the stones not offer any regeneration would have been fine, and creates a need to bring back both the stones *and* ice in one go. I was also a bit bummed that, in a game with this level of visual polish, we only got a splash screen for winning. I get that time was limited, but I was very curious what the stones were going to do - awaken that snake beneath the tree, perhaps? Ah well, something for you to ponder for version 2.
I don't want to get too negative, though: this was a lovely game and you have a talent for creating atmosphere. Great work!
Splendid art and gameplay. Had a blast with the game but wanted to leave some suggestions. I thought the ice ended up being useless since the stones replenished the life of the tree anyway. At first I thought that I was running out of air due to some time limit but later realized it was because I was in the black area. I think having the ice stones be pockets of air and introducing an air gauge mechanic might give more purpose to the ice. Overall, great job!
Oooh! More feedback, lets go! -- @chonky-animations I think quickening the water depletion would make the fortress section really hard if not impossible. Otherwise the map idea would be good! But we tried to keep the map small so it was easy for us to actually finish the game. Slowing the crystal is an interesting idea also, I would just be afraid of it feeling tedious for players. -- @legavroche we were originally going to have an oxygen mechanic the UI for which was the bar on the backpack, so I can see why it confused you. I like the air pocket idea that's really interesting actually!! We removed the oxygen originally because we thought it was silly to have two time limit mechanics doing basically the same thing, but I think your idea fixes that and makes the mechanics unique! -- @quillwerth Yeah that clog thing was a problem we were aware of, but didn't have enough time to find of a solution for, so we left it in as apart of the challenge. Also, I would have gone absolutely ham with the success and failure visuals, but after pulling an all-nighter I didn't have enough time or energy too :( -- I'm glad you all enjoyed it!! Thanks for the feedback
I like the soundtrack on this game and I think there's a subtle change from when you are at the tree and when you go exploring.
The gameplay is fun for a little game like this and can be challenging at some point all designed by the level.
I like the art @zuezazon has done here witht the simple tiles for the level and yet big and great details on the important things such as teh tree or the "elements"
All in all I had to replay this game because I entirely missed out the "elements" and taht there is an ending :) It also feels like there are some nerrative missing but I enjoyed going through it!
Nice work!
From the start I was a little skeptical on how well this game would be and to my surprise was a calm yet exciting experience. The platformer feel in open space left a calm and relaxing feel to the game. Along with that the music and traditions were really well done! Art was cute and enjoyable, but has its draw backs. Really nailed the ending and I had a fun time playing. An awesome submission dude.
Issue: Static feeling art.
Escorting the pieces the tree was a bit annoying. Whenever i was flying to fast the objective got stuck at a corner resulting in waiting and painfully slow moving. Other than that the overall movement felt good, art was nice and i liked the music. Overall good entry :)
The game looks great. The controls feel really natural and are fun to control. I got a little bored with the actual gameplay though. It felt like a lot of repetition. You have a great coherent visual design. I love the reference to Jormungandr.
Very nice mood! I like the message in the game it's really calming and smooth. the pixel art is beautiful too! =) Very nice game!
@pilarius i totally get the movement being slightly frustrating, although it was kinda intentional in the sense that we wanted the player to regulate their speed somewhat rather than just hold down the keys. thank you for the feedback :)
I love it. One of my favorite entries this jam. Simple and yet it still hooks you in. I got in to zone playing it, zen like experience. I love the music, and the art. Beat it very quickly :< I wish maybe there were more levels, what I'm trying to say I wanted to play it more and don't end ;) Gj guys!
@bigwhiteshogun I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! Ironically this is our first game that has an ending
This is one of my favorite entries so far! The graphics and music combined to make an atmospheric and super moody experience. I love how much work went into the little details, like having your air drain when you try to collect elements, as if the meteor doesn't want you to be there. Or having the elements fully refill your water meter when you collect them, to keep the player from getting frustrated. The gameplay in general also felt really unique.
My only two issues with the game were the physics on the items that follow you and the lack of a checkpoint of any kind. With the levels having so many sharp turns and small corridors, it was too easy for items following you to get stuck. It adds to the strategy of the game, but it also doesn't really play well with the lack of checkpoints. It would've been nice if the game saved the progress of what elements you had already collected, because having the replay the entire game each time I tried to learn a new area kind of got annoying after the first few times.
Still, those are minor issues. I really liked this! I'd love to see what you could do with this if you made it into something bigger, or at least made the ending flashier.
Great graphics, fun game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/jKms-qsuTgw
