LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep It Undead by pcmaster 2020-05-04T08:28:31Z

This is a really unique interpretation of the theme! It took a little bit of time to realize that the goal wasn't to spread the virus to everyone in the level. Once I figured that out, I had a blast trying to spread the virus to the exit of the level.

I liked the simplistic art style, but if you expand this it might be a good idea to try and zoom the camera in somewhat to make details of the art more visible.

Cat Dad Redemption by Riftpoint Entertainment 2020-05-02T04:36:03Z

This game was fantastic! I loved the unique control scheme, I'd love to see something bigger that used this same idea for the controls and expanded on it <3

Also, several levels in the game got stuck after I defeated all the dogs in the level. It seems like several people here have had that same issue, so I'm not sure if it's an actual bug or if the game doesn't have a proper ending after that level. Still, this is one of my favorite games so far!

Econaut by tyranosaw 2020-04-25T06:43:02Z

This is one of my favorite entries so far! The graphics and music combined to make an atmospheric and super moody experience. I love how much work went into the little details, like having your air drain when you try to collect elements, as if the meteor doesn't want you to be there. Or having the elements fully refill your water meter when you collect them, to keep the player from getting frustrated. The gameplay in general also felt really unique.

My only two issues with the game were the physics on the items that follow you and the lack of a checkpoint of any kind. With the levels having so many sharp turns and small corridors, it was too easy for items following you to get stuck. It adds to the strategy of the game, but it also doesn't really play well with the lack of checkpoints. It would've been nice if the game saved the progress of what elements you had already collected, because having the replay the entire game each time I tried to learn a new area kind of got annoying after the first few times.

Still, those are minor issues. I really liked this! I'd love to see what you could do with this if you made it into something bigger, or at least made the ending flashier.

Keepalive.exe by PTSnoop 2020-05-02T01:57:12Z

I really liked the idea for this! The concept was fun, and the graphics and audio fit the idea really well. My only issue was that I couldn't find a way to close the game without using alt+f4 or task manager.

Egdar's Blobs by Noa Calice 2020-05-04T13:50:09Z

I absolutely love the amount of polish that went into this! I know you guys worked as a team(and have been doing this for a while), but it still always impresses me just how much quality goes into both of you guy's jam games.

The physics of rolling slurpy around and tossing him about the level were incredibly satisfying. I'm going to have to copy peoples opinion of the camera being unwieldy, though.

Keep up the good work, let the slurpies roll free!

Solais by dragonxvi 2020-05-02T07:36:06Z

This game was giving me major Celeste vibes and every part of it was fantastic! The graphics and audio all contributed to a great mood(I especially loved the eyes that were watching you from the walls), and the platforming physics were well implemented.

My only issue was that the game felt like it had a small issue with lag, especially after getting the wall jump. Maybe it was just my computer, but I normally don't have a problem running PICO-8 games.

Cardkin by Akusan 2020-04-25T07:10:36Z

The game was cute. The funny card descriptions were the best part of the whole thing, but like most other people here are saying the game really needs some sort of indicator to tell you what each card does. It felt like I could just spam click on as many cards as possible and just automatically win more often than I lost.

A Bzon Warehouse by wheybags 2020-05-04T02:43:46Z

This was a super unique idea for a game! Having to memorize the keys and patterns to get items as quickly as possible really sold the feeling of becoming a menial Amazon worker.

Firelighter by WoooWooo 2020-05-04T14:19:13Z

It took me a while to get used to the control scheme(a tutorial would've helped me understand things a bit more), but one I got used to it I really liked how it worked. Sadly, it felt like both the dash and sleep abilities were basically useless. The best strategy seemed it be just holding down Z on the first ability and constantly moving to cover up dirt patches in a circle.

I really liked playing this, though. Maybe you should consider adding a timer in? That way you can actually compare how long you kept the fire alive with other people.

KidPunk by Squeele 2020-05-04T13:59:41Z

I love the idea and design of this, and the art style is really good too. I just feel like it needs a pinch more polish to really come together as a great game.

The physics and controls are just slightly finicky and imprecise, making it hard to move around(Especially when I need to fall into a small gap exactly the size of my character). The graphics are also all scaled independently of each other, just making things not feel cohesive(The main character is fine, while the robot is blurry, some objects have really large pixels while some have really small pixels).

I'd love to see where this goes, its a really unique idea!

Bodyguard by kodran 2020-04-25T06:54:53Z

I love how my first idea was the just shoot the VIP and the game let me do it. 10/10

This isn't the most original idea, but this is really well executed and a great way to kill time. I love that you were able to put in so many little mechanics and details, but it would've been nice if they were explained in game instead of on the game page.

Good call making the starting text advance faster at the start of each level after the first one. Little details like that always show how much you paid attention when designing the game.

Bodyguard for Chicken by Aret24 2020-05-04T13:46:55Z

The concept was funny and unique, and it made for an interesting little game. I did have 2 small issues with the gameplay, though: 1.) You have no way to tell whether or not the chicken is being held or has been dropped. A slightly different graphic of the robot carrying the chicken would help with this. 2.) Whenever I tried to fire a bullet, there was almost a second long delay after clicking before it fired. This made it extremely difficult to aim and shoot enemies.

I'd love to see what more you could do with this!

Together by Ulcius 2020-05-02T04:26:05Z

This was simple, but I loved the concept and the art style! The cursive font fit the game, but it was kind of hard to read. Other than that, great job <3

Bunny Plague by Malai 2020-04-25T06:00:56Z

I loved the one bit graphics! The game is really fun and cute, but it gets hard to handle so many bunnies once they start to spawn. (I suppose that makes sense with the title, though.) I enjoyed having to juggle using your radishes to eat or to throw, that was a really smart idea to add some depth to a game this simple.

Me. Fire. Run. Cave. by Ryano 2020-05-02T02:07:10Z

A fun little platformer. It wasn't anything too special, but it was a good platformer for something made in 3 days. I especially loved the little voice used for the caveman.

My only real issue was that the collision with the anklyosaurus enemies was really finicky. Sometimes I would walk straight into them and defeat them, while sometimes I would jump on top of them and lose my flame.

Pirabbit by TimeTravelHamster 2020-05-02T07:45:34Z

Cute and fun little game. I love how you were able to take one simple mechanic and make it work so well.

King's Table by PetTurtle 2020-05-02T06:13:21Z

This is a really unique and addicting idea!

It would've been nice if the game had a proper tutorial, and you were able to unlock new pieces slowly over time as you learn how things work. Background music would've been a plus, too.

QT's Cells by Mental Inaction 2020-05-10T05:04:51Z

@junber Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I wish I would've had more time to expand on the map and add in more actual puzzles.

A little tip for finding the good ending: When you're told you have a limited time to do something you don't really want to do, you can always choose to just do nothing.

Milk for A Dead Man (Web and Downloads Available) by Billnotic 2020-05-02T05:49:19Z

This game was great! I loved the high production values, and this was a really unique take on the theme. I don't know how you came up with this concept, but I just love the idea of a skeleton lord needing his calcium.

Mr. Cheesy by SAVVU 2020-05-02T04:52:44Z

Super fun and addicting, and I love Mr. Cheesy's design! This is one of the highlights of this jam, and the level of polish and creativity stands out. I do feel like the cheesy chunks should of restored a little bit more health each, but that's a very minor issue in an otherwise amazing game.

BUBBLE BOY by NEKORUMA 2020-05-02T06:03:26Z

The music and graphics here were great, this was a really good recreation of tamagotchis!

I just wish the bars didn't decrease so quickly. It made it so things felt like more of a "how quickly you can press all 6 buttons" simulator instead of a relaxing pet raising game.

Deer Quest by Brachistosauro 2020-05-04T14:10:29Z

Dude, I didn't expect this game to be that good at all just from the screenshots. I was dead wrong.

I loved the humor in this, and it felt really good just rolling around everywhere. The combat was simple, but it worked really well. The final boss was a little bit difficult, but I absolutely loved this. I'd love to play a longer hack and slash rpg type thing made in the same way as this.
