I like how meaningful this game is. It's very complete and has many great ideas, so well done !

low-mana 2020-04-22 02:45

This game is very meaningful and really shows the reality of a relationship. And the ending was the hardest because it seems like no matter how much you try and repair someone else's heart by giving them a part of yours; you just end up hurting like them and now you're both suffering and end up falling apart in painful fashion.

Really good entry! Lots of feels!

krakadushka 2020-04-22 06:43

Interesting game, but sorry, I couldn't pass the 3rd level ((

mehrdadsh 2020-04-22 14:10

this is a nice cute game,

waqar-naeem 2020-04-22 14:12

nice game

ulcius 2020-04-22 14:14

@yvanor @low-mana Thanks a lot! It means so much to me that I managed to make this game meaningful somehow. I usually just play around with mechanics, so it was something new for me. And @low-mana that's exactly what i tried to show! Also there are 4 endings to the game (or rather 4 choices at the end) but it all comes down to similiar feeling.

@krakadushka thanks!! I got few feedbacks saying this particular level (gift exchange, right?) is too hard. I updated game and now it's a lot easier if you care to check it out.

krakadushka 2020-04-22 14:18

@ulcius thanks. Right now

lurkerrip 2020-04-22 14:32

Nice complete game. The waiting games are agonizing, but I get thats the point. Very nice job of trying to make the mechanics mad mood. Nice Job

roz 2020-04-22 14:32

Interesting game, i didn't expect the story to be evolving, that was nice, i liked the ending most. But i really hated throwing presents :D idea is good tho.

brachistosauro 2020-04-22 14:45

I really liked this, good to see something more human. Thank you for making it!

notapixelstudio 2020-04-23 18:29

Nooooo, why this is windows only ? I want to play. I like this take on the theme. Can i find somewhere a game video playthrough ? pleassee? Thank you for making it <3

gamer-fates 2020-04-23 19:35

Good job! What engine did you make this in? Also keep the love alive! I enjoy the theme . This was my second choice

ecmjohnson 2020-04-23 19:37

It's wonderful to see a game designed without relying on combat mechanics, and even more so to see a game that tells a story through its interactions. The argument section was painful and I really wanted to avoid saying any of those horrible options which created some distance between myself and the player character.

adam-clayden 2020-04-23 19:41

Interesting game but it went from 0 - 100 real fast. The whole section where she wanted to be left alone and there wasn't a single option to let her do that. All the options were blowing everything out of proportion which felt a bit unrealistic. The game was effectively forcing me make a big deal out of nothing but I suppose that was the point of the game.

Liked the hand drawn art style and overall mood of the game. Audio is nice and the mechanics tie in nicely with the various parts of the game which is cool. Good job!

robotsandmuffins 2020-04-23 19:45

Lovely! The graphics and the music are great. Also, very innovative: a flirting game! I like this kind of approaches. Nice entry. I couldn't make the presents level...Nevertheless, I liked it.

daniel-whittaker 2020-04-23 19:47

Musics nice, the heart puzzle was fun. Very interesting

shardykins 2020-04-23 19:54

The writing was a little on the nose, I'm pretty sure more people would pick none of the bad options every time to it loses any sense of realism, but there's genuinely some nice stuff done on the gameplay side. I really liked the time slowing on the second silence especially, would've been a lot more powerful if there wasn't text directly underneath it explaining what was happening! Maybe if the time slowed down gradually over the 30 seconds the player would naturally feel the tension instead. Seems like a lot of work done in a weekend, well done!

blaster391 2020-04-23 19:55

This is a really unique take on the theme, there's an amazing amount of content here too, complete art, music and mini games!

I really like the puzzle with "There must be something I can do" mixing narrative with gameplay brilliantly :)

No criticism here a really solid experience!

junber 2020-04-23 20:05

Nice game. The silence parts would have been more impactful if the music stopped or was replaced by ambient sound during that time. But the art for these scenes in particular looked really neat and it was a cool idea (and not just this one bit) Good job!

ulcius 2020-04-23 20:49

@notapixelstudio - ahh, sorry, it's Windows only. I used Game Maker and don't have proper license for web version or Mac. But I'm super happy that you are interested in seeing the game. I can record the game for you!

@gamer-fates Thanks a lot! I used Game Maker Studio 2.

@ecmjohnson @adam-clayden @shardykins Thanks a lot for good words and the input about the argument section. I had the feeling it was a little bit too cringy, but was in a hurry with finishing that section. But now i see it definitely need some changes and that i need to somehow give player a choice to lead this conversation more peacefully (with similar outcome though). I am super motivated to do it better ^^

@junber Thanks a lot! That's a great idea, I will do that!

@blaster391 @daniel-whittaker @robotsandmuffins @roz @brachistosauro Thank you all for a kind words! It makes me super motivated to further work on this game and make it better :)

gamer-fates 2020-04-23 22:07

Would you like me to port this game to web html? From gms2

ulcius 2020-04-23 22:56

@gamer-fates Yes!! If you can, that would be great. I would be super grateful! Here is the project https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dBEFqfDY3o-GIn50RbSEpswfAwme0GNr/view?usp=sharing

thibaud-ligneul 2020-04-24 16:40

Nice game. Felt like you forced my hand on the dialogue choices, and not that I really had options lol. I found two of the four endings!

ulcius 2020-04-24 20:34

@thibaud-ligneul thanks!! I plan to rework the dialogue of the argument part soon, so it would hopefully feel better, with some actual different options!

mehrdadsh 2020-04-25 13:09

Hello, nice game, nice graphics. I'm a programmer looking for a graphic designer or a team to join and maybe work on new games, are you interested? email:m.shahiri.m@gmail.com my LudumDare Game: social-distancing-for-ladybugs

curleyrach 2020-04-25 17:35

Some unique little parts to the game and the graphics and music all complimented the whole mood really well. good job :)

blushine 2020-04-26 05:16

This is an interesting type of game to attempt for a game jam. But after the first cycle, it just felt very uncomfortable. I hated that she was asking to be left alone, but there was not way to actually do that other than closing the game and quitting. The player was forced to start a fight, and speak in a way that felt almost abusive. The hand holding section also felt very uncomfortable, I really didn't like that it felt like you were trying to force her to hold your hand. The gift minigame was also very strange in all three parts, I don't like that it's framing the relationship as a competition. The broken/repaired heart thing was a little strange, and I'm not quite sure what you were trying to communicate with that mechanic.

The conversation in the third cycle was the most interesting, it felt like the first time where there were meaningful choices, to ask questions or communicate your feelings or make requests. I wish that part had more focus, giving the player a chance to apologize, or set boundaries, or just listen to the girlfriend character's needs. At the end screen, it felt like a very unhealthy relationship, so I decided we should each go separate ways. The ending still felt like a let-down, I was hoping for some kind of epilogue.

The art was quite good throughout, and I liked how it changed throughout the game. I think the gameplay for most of the minigames was too long and drawn out. I thought about playing through it again to see other endings and dialog, but I really didn't want to sit through more silence and handholding. The happy/sad music felt a little too obvious. It also started to get repetitive as the game went on. I would have rather had some ambient sound that could change for each minigame/scene. The voice sound effects also sounded a bit strange and got repetitive as the game went on.

ulcius 2020-04-26 10:56

@blushine Thank you for your very detailed feedback!! I will definitely redo the argument section, as it was also mentioned by others. I will try to create different set of options for the game. As about the handholding after argument i had no idea it could feel like it was forced on her, but that's certainly not my intent. I will try to change mechanic a little to show that she is not very affectionate about it, but not opposed to it.

As for gift exchange i wanted for it to feel like it's both a sign of love but also a small competition. I wanted to show that relationships are not always about fluffs and unicorns. Some relationships develop habits which comes from love, but end up slightly unhealthy (like the presents). And in every relationship people end up fighting sometimes, telling things they regret in a spur of a moment. Thus i wanted to show that even after doing something to fix it (giving a part of your heart) it's not always and not immediately enough to fix it, cause the wounds remain.

But after your comment I realized my basic mistake to make it more or less 'first person' game. Instead of telling : 'this is a story of (certain) relationship' I told player: this is game about you. And that may make people uncomfortable with some sections. As for now the only thing I can do, to slightly fix that, is to introduce the character at the beginning of the game. Can't really redo whole first person perspective now.

ulcius 2020-04-26 11:45

@gamer-fates Thanks so much for your help!! I am really grateful! I already uploaded it. I also subscribed to your youtube channel, looks promising, can't wait for ludum dare video.

ulcius 2020-04-26 11:59

@curleyrach @mehrdadsh Thanks a lot for your nice words!! I am happy to hear them ^^ @mehrdadsh I already played your game, very cool one!! I am also programmer/game designer! This art was max of my abilities (and a good tools at that), but i won't pursue career of a graphic designer for sure, ha ha, thanks a lot for the offer though, it means it turned out pretty nicely then :)

ditam 2020-04-27 14:12

Your itch.io link seems to show a 404 error.

almax 2020-04-27 14:48

I have same issue (404) on itch.io, though the window dropbox download is fine.

Playing through this was a strange mix of emotions for me. I don't usually like relationship games but the pacing here was really good, and the mixture of minigames helped to keep things from getting boring. I didn't enjoy the context-less conversation options though... at the start I felt like a creep and during the "fight" it felt like I was just abusing her for no reason. I understand what you were trying to do, but it needed context, otherwise it just makes the player feel like an asshole.

However, I took a step back an tried to let go of those feelings in the understanding that this is a game jam game, and I'm sure you weren't trying to make me feel like a creep or an asshole :)

On my second play through things felt a lot more different - I gave context to the conversations myself (was of saying goodbye for work each morning, and an argument over going to a friend's party). This made the minigames after the fight have a deeper meaning, I felt sorry for lashing out and had to work hard to make it up to her.

Annnnnyway, yeah, this game definitely made me think a bit about what makes a good relationship game and even though I don't usually like them, what kind I would prefer to play. So, thanks!

slimbun 2020-04-28 08:19

Great game! I liked everything about it. I didn't check the windows download, but the HTML5 was great. It is kinda hard.

texz 2020-04-28 13:07

Nice and complete game ! I liked the gameplay ideas !

rafa-braga 2020-04-29 03:57

i loved the grphics and the mood, well done!!!

gaming-night 2020-04-29 13:40

Wow, I really enjoyed your game! The Lichtenstein-like graphisms were nice, and the music too (especially the one in the break up phase). I'm a lover of this kind of "all in one" games, with multiple mini-games related with a scenaristic emphasis. Not being tied by a unique gameplay allows mini-games to serve the story. Thank you!

shakedimus 2020-04-29 15:29

I think the pencil drawn aesthetic and sound effects were nice an the concept fit the theme well. It was very clear that the choices you made did not matter which was a pity but I understand that you didn't have time for a story tree. Also the three acts were very repetitive but again I understand the time constraints. Overall very nice looking game but lacking some content.

flash22 2020-04-30 12:56

Wow such a beautiful game man enjoyed it that art style looks so good and the game play it was like went on through a journey of Love thanks

mental-inaction 2020-05-02 04:26

This was simple, but I loved the concept and the art style! The cursive font fit the game, but it was kind of hard to read. Other than that, great job <3

2020-05-12 20:31

relationship-based games will always be my favorites

2020-05-12 20:31

I experienced very pleasant emotions from this game, but in real life everything is different. Dating is becoming a big deal in the modern world. Traditional dating methods do not currently work. No one even has time to go to a bar or club to find a date. For this reason, the best online adult dating sites that you can find on [HookupMasters](https://hookupmasters.com/) become the easiest way to meet the woman or man of your dreams.

2020-11-05 21:41

Cool stuff!

2021-04-11 07:36

Thanks for the game. But I think that we need to be more concerned about dating in real life. Some people never tried it. And then I would recommend you to try online dating. If you are interested then you can read this [match review](https://speeddaters.net/match-review.html) to learn more about the platform and why you need to try it. I'm sure that you will like it as well.
