LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Captain Farticus by flyingbear 2015-04-21T00:02:00

The music is pretty good, but the fart noises are fantastic. Most of this game is solid, bug free which is good. The only gripes I have is the fact that the fact the coins respawn makes exploring the level less important, and the seemingly infinite amount of jumping means you can skip certain places.

On the other hand, I farted a door to pieces and it killed an enemy 10/10

Hugline Miami by Figglewatts 2015-04-20T21:31:00

Fun, sounds amazing, looks great, only problem is that I thought you moved a bit slow (even with graham), AI is about as dodgey as Hotline Miamis AI but a good effort for 48 hours.
The only other problem is that although the concept is fun, there isn't much innovation in the mechanics, but, if its not broken don't fix it

Terrornado by xbcw 2015-04-21T00:09:00

That was surprisingly fun, and the graphics are unique and work well. I love the pickups that you can get that change the world around you. Great Job!

Extinction Explosion!! by sugarbyte 2015-04-20T23:52:00

Very funny, and no bugs, so that's a plus! What it lacks in innovation it gets back in working well, bit short though.

99 problems (and a bitch is one) by nassi 2015-04-21T12:33:00

I feel dirty playing this...
It was fun, took me a few goes to work out the motions I needed to do, but afterwards... I still sucked. I enjoyed it though

Wired In by hardband 2015-04-20T21:47:00

Game was fun, seizure mode is best mode... Very interesting concept.

My little friend Ernest by Obvious Industries 2015-04-21T12:27:00

Those lighting effects are really pretty, overall I liked it, the only issue I had was the confusion of whether I could walk through things, but the lighting was a good visual aid, another thing is I think enemies should fade into view faster if they are close to you, I get eaten by enemies in the ship because they were behind me and faded into view too slowly

Dario DDS by bentglasstube 2015-04-21T14:05:00

A nice play on tetris, I had to read the readme to find out what on earth was happening, but after that it was fine.

Breaking News by Shwarze 2015-04-21T14:20:00

Even though it is lacking in AI, I managed to bludgeon a man to death with a Nokia 10/10.

Also, unlucky on losing your stuff, probably should back up more next time.

As a note, next time you make a first person game, maybe go a little easier on the viewbob, it made me slightly ill...

Berry | The Last Straw by yuigoto 2015-04-21T13:58:00

Visuals were cool, music was good, I liked the idea. It's just lacking substantial gameplay. Also it started to drop frames while I was attempting to work out the controls on my first try (this is using the webplayer)

Kill 'em With Kindness by DaveCarlile 2015-04-21T14:36:00

Gameplay was lacking, didn't really have any real strategy to it, graphics would have been nice.

But the writing was on point for humour, I was giggling my way through each dialogue option.

MegaWave by jemalexander 2015-04-21T14:12:00

That potato looks so sad, I almost felt bad trying to kill him. I do like the graphics of both the player and potato :D It could do with sound, and it did crash the first time I tried it. But a great first attempt at a game.
I know what it is like to overscope massively, the first LD I tried I did, and the game I made was awful. But this LD being my second attempt I just keep getting better.

Indifference by Pibeex 2015-04-21T00:15:00

I like the concept, it just really hard (or maybe I am just bad) a visual cue to tell you when the enemy is about to hit you would be nice. But for the short timeframe amazing!

...Slaughter... by Jasonsumm 2015-04-20T21:17:00

Took me a bit to work out what was going on, a read me with info would have been nice, it's a good start, I liked the graphics, but some indication of where the Z attack hits would have been nice, 109 is my high score :D

LD33 — You are the Monster

Fear Syndicate Thesis by Deconstructeam 2015-09-11T15:24:00

Well this was an experience... I wouldn't say I "enjoyed" it. But it is a very well made, very disturbing, game

Spoody by Kerdelos 2015-08-25T15:41:00

Very fun little game, controls were hard at first, but fun when gotten used too.

Only problems encountered on what was a great game were:
Occasional framerate issues (I assume rope physics, not as bad when I downloaded the game, but bad in web)
All of my runs ended because I fell out the map...

Just an additional feature I would have liked to see how many bugs I had eaten, but that's only a small thing.

Overall very well done, fix the bugs and it would be fantastic!

Dragon Defense by Serch 2015-08-25T15:57:00

Fun game, except I'm really bad at it xD

Graphics are very nice, would like a button to restart though, refreshing the page is annoying

Destructizilla by djosef 2015-08-25T15:48:00

Sound and graphics are great. Good start, but would have been cool if enemies attacked back.

One Hungry Monster by Dialglex 2015-09-11T15:09:00

I enjoyed this entry and survived 153 seconds :)

Like people have said, I thought you weren't meant to eat the red guy cos he made no sound...

Over The Course Of A Day by Blobo 2015-09-11T15:31:00

Very simple, but I spent most of the game smiling, does that make me a bad person?

Alien Murder Simulator by MikeEnoch 2015-09-11T15:04:00

Very nice little game, I love the respawn mechanic.

LD37 — One room

Defeat the Kraken by quentinus60 2016-12-13T21:28:00

I like how you have lots of different game mechanics going on, tentacle 3 was my fave, had to skip the 2nd because I am bad at bullet hells, and wow, that boss fight is intense. I enjoyed it tho

Floor is Lava by Albert Viader 2016-12-13T21:19:00

That's a neat concept, the leaderboard was a great touch! My fave so far, I feel like the movement could do to be a bit quicker though, maybe I would have survived longer lol

One Room to Freedom by mianagames 2016-12-14T22:06:00

Got to the end, then got stuck on a box before I could reach it.

I thought it was fun, since I had to adopt the double handed spacebar mash to run fast enough, I had to keep swapping out to steer the poor old guy

Bar Brawl by badtorse 2016-12-15T21:43:00

Graphics look great, I like the funny insults that they throw at each other.

One thing that I didn't like was the randomisation of the people, I managed to get a room almost full of the same type of people, which was a very one sided bar fight lol

Mine Escape by Frantos 2016-12-13T21:40:00

Definitely the most atmospheric game so far, simple concept, but works well.

I noticed a lot of seams between the level pieces, which broke immersion a little, and a bit of variety in the level would have been nice, it was hard for me to figure out if I was going in circles

The Rocket Man by Dev Dennis 2016-12-15T18:53:00

Merry Christmas! Had the same sort of feeling of something like the Stanley Parable while playing, it was pretty fun

wRoom by Boberro 2016-12-14T19:25:00

Good driving physics, managed to finish in just over two minutes... I did feel the first couple of checkpoints with the U turns were a bit tricky tho

A monster doesn't let me leave my room by xk 2016-12-13T21:55:00

That was amazing, terrifying, but amazing. I really got drawn into the story, completely unexpected for a game jam like this... It's like the twilight zone or something. Loved it.

Army Of One by lekiy 2016-12-15T19:21:00

Interesting concept, maybe I missed something, but I found it very difficult, and couldn't really progress before my mech broke down and I had to jump out to fix it again

Me, Myself And The Room by Artylo 2016-12-14T22:02:00

Liked the cheeky 4th wall breaking, and the art style was very interesting. It's a great effort and fairly different from any of the other games I've played so far

Recursion by KaiseanGames 2016-12-13T19:19:00

I had fun, thank god for the hints though, because those puzzles are hard, I liked the x marks the spot puzzle the best. Good work!

Porno Tales: part 1 (Warning: NSFW!!!) by Sublustris 2016-12-15T22:02:00

Couldn't last for more than a few seconds before dieing, I'm not sure whether I was missing something, or just didn't have insane enough reaction times

Dustinator X9001 by Mr MadCat 2016-12-15T21:55:00

It was only a couple of levels in a realized the sounds was just a guy, made me laugh. Was a nice relaxing game, cats were not as scary as I thought they would be lol

Room Climber by Pepejson 2016-12-13T21:11:00

The graphics are great! The controls are a little off, but the level design more than makes up for it. I liked the starting upside down, that was a nice touch

Stalactite Dodge by Ryuko13 2016-12-13T20:07:00

Simple, but all works great! This could easily be expanded upon to a bigger concept if you liked it, like put this on top of a platformer or something.

I liked the little detail of the stalactites vibrating before they fall.

The one thing I'd improve on is the jump, maybe make the jump quicker, or just let you have some control in the air, I died most to mid air collisions while jumping lol

Good work!

Total Eclipse of the Heart by FcValise 2016-12-13T19:38:00

After I got my head around what was going on, that's pretty neat! The music had me laughing too the graphics are great

Tank battle(for lack of a better name) by Senor Salty 2016-12-14T19:31:00

Fun game! Was a bit overwhelming at the start, but once I got the hang of it it was fun. The only thing that bugged me was the short time between hitting the enemy tanks, and the tanks dieing, took me a moment to realize they were one shot kills

Hurry Up ! by Mathiouza 2016-12-13T19:34:00

The .exe isn't doing anything when I run it, am I missing something?

Tower of Bees! by Mack101dog 2016-12-14T19:38:00

Lovely graphics, could have done with sound though, for a bit of player feedback, it was hard to tell whether I was being hit, and when my shots were actually connecting. That said, I liked the variety of spells, magic mines being my favourite :D

Will you exit ? by tommarx69 2016-12-13T21:03:00

Great first entry guys! Hope you take part in more in the future. I found the game quite difficult, so maybe a future addition to it could be maybe a dodge button or something? I feel like that could work well.

Overall I enjoyed it, even if I did get stuck in walls a couple of times (but hey it's a game jam, bugs are expected)

Escape Pod by creativwhisper 2016-12-14T22:17:00

Much like if I was actually strandard in space, I managed to end up uncontrollably spinning, before hitting random buttons and making everything worse than it started.

It's a fun game, and as great first entry into LD, what I'd like to see is maybe expanding upon the movement of the player camera, I found once I got myself into a spinning mess it was very hard to get out, and instead I found it easier to just start again all over

Worst Mixer Ever by KhaoTom 2016-12-14T20:27:00

It looks cool, and the music is good, but I have absolutely no idea what the aim is

Trump's First Day by jamioflan 2016-12-13T20:53:00

Funny little game, only problem I had was that it wasn't really clear how my actions were affecting anything, and I couldn't work out how to enact policies, so kept losing diplomacy... Maybe that's it a parody of real life in that regard.

Safety Room by BerneyTD 2016-12-15T19:36:00

I found the first few levels fun, the controls are really solid, but then I got stuck and frustrated on the levels with the wall turret things. But then again I am terrible at platformers so that'd probably be why

Space Captive by negativice 2016-12-13T19:28:00

Controls are a bit floaty (pardon the pun). The game concept is great, and I like the idea. Maybe a bit too hard for me, or maybe I am just bad, but I was so occupied with staying alive I hardly had chance to repair the ship

Thirsty Dino by Haunted Circus 2016-12-15T22:05:00

Very addictive, fun even if it is so simple. Just wish the bottle wouldn't spawn too far away sometimes :c

LD38 — A Small World

You Dig-It by recursor 2017-05-09T17:11:18Z

I found this game very hard! But for some reason kept playing it for maybe an hour. When I first started I didn't realize you can destroy the block below and to the left of you with good positioning, but once I realized that it became a very tactical game, where a slow and steady approach was rewarded, and each run was different depending on spawns and bomb placements.

The visuals and sound was very good, except for the white noise of the bomb fuse that seemed a bit off.

Even though I didn't complete this game I still enjoyed my time with it, thank you.

Space Balls by Dejvo 2017-05-06T22:01:30Z

Wow that is some nice graphics! It's impressive to see something that looks so good created in such a short amount of time.

The only thing I felt was that the controls were really slow, so making any sort of real adjustment took a long time.

Space Balls by Dejvo 2017-05-09T15:04:09Z

@dejvo - I've never experimented with those sort of stock affects, I must try it some time if it makes it look that good. But still little things like that really make your game stand out

Space Balls by Dejvo 2017-05-09T19:38:08Z

@dejvo This looks great! Thanks for taking the time to show me this. I'm definitely going to experiment, and hopefully next Jam I'll have a very fancy looking game

Hopper by Porcus_Pie 2017-05-09T15:34:03Z

Really enjoyed this, played it through to completion, the way you built up difficulty and mechanics throughout the game was perfect, something that a lot of LD games miss is such a good sense of progression. Graphics were really nice and sound was neat, I liked how all your actions made a unique sound.

Couple of points I would add, the game was in a really odd window for me, windowed but without any way of moving or resizing it - fullscreen would have been nice. Also having C toggle instead of holding it down would have been nice, since I completed most levels just holding it down all the time.

But these are really minor issues that don't really retract from such a polished game.

Protolife by icxon 2017-05-01T12:52:30Z

I thought it was going to seem a bit complicated when I started off. But your short tutorial was very intuitive, I picked it up straight away. I liked the neat little touches, like how you could take the walls around your block-changey things (I'm sure they have a proper name), and turn them into antibodies.

Overall, no major complaints, one of the most polished LD games I've played

Fancy meeting you here by Local Minimum 2017-05-04T20:34:39Z

Took me a couple of the minigames before I understood what was going on but then I really started to enjoy the bizarre dialogue and weird stalking sounds.

Maybe to build on this idea you could not mention the likes/dislikes straight away, but instead make it so the player has to work out the persons likes from their dialogue.

Also out of all the minigames I found space mouth very difficult to control.

Orchardstra by CyberStarLight 2017-05-08T15:55:25Z

It's a nice little toy to mess around with, but maybe I'm not creative enough to actually design a good tune. I did enjoy seeing my little musical city sprout up as I planted more seeds, and I really liked the art style.

Low Orbit by quadtree 2017-05-08T16:24:32Z

The controls are a bit all over the place, and sound seems to occasionally deafen you. I did like that you are free to find your own way from one side of the planet to the other, the only problem I found was with the trees, where the collision seems off.

But the one thing I really like was the mini-map, that is a super cool ways of seeing where the other drivers are.

Hi Pluto! by nekoballs 2017-05-11T15:20:58Z

Very addictive game! Never found myself in an unwinnable situation and alway felt like just having one more go. I like that even when you lose, you don't lose much altitude so you still feel like you are progressing. Ended up with a high score of around 350, and made it to around the altitude of 1000.

Gnome Digger by bobsleigh 2017-05-11T13:46:41Z

I found this game surprisingly engaging and played it for a good long time, I found the "ending" kinda sweet too. I liked the progression, would have liked the higher levels drills to be more effective, I hardly used it when I got the final pickaxe.

The only problem I really have with it is the dynamite seemed bugged, and would just fall through the floor and blow up a random place, so it wasn't much use.

Caelium Alpha by jishenaz 2017-05-09T17:54:28Z

I like this as a little sandbox, it's the kinda of thing I like to tinker with (similar to Universe Sandbox), it looks very nice, and I like all the little things, like the trail that is left as the planets move etc.

I have no complaints, only ideas for additional features - Maybe make it so you can rename planets/stars/moons - Be able to pause (when you have a planet orbiting fast it could be pretty difficult to catch them and change values) - Delete things you've already made (I made a huge number of moons and couldn't work out how to remove them)

I like this LD, it was different :)

Chill Bill by drtizzle 2017-05-11T13:58:40Z

The graphics and animation are really well made, and I liked the funny small touches like "Poor Life Choices" tattood on the main characters neck. I feel like the gameplay itself was a little lacking in substance though, I could never really find much tactic to it all other than randomly charging at people and hoping to not lose

Food Fight by Scornz 2017-05-06T22:45:09Z

Graphics are great! Love the knock-off food names, Bob and Jimmys made me laugh. I like that you've implemented a score board, and the difficulty scaling seemed fair and did a good job of ramping up the tension.

Only issue I had was collision, mainly noticed by my bullets "hitting" object when they shouldn't. Made things trickier when trying to quickly land shots

CHEM TRIALS by Hegemege 2017-05-11T15:00:00Z

Graphics were really nice, shame about the audio bug, but I didn't find it too bad. I liked the small touches like the way the plane disintergrated when you get hit. It was really nice how the plane felt to control, having such a simple input scheme made it instantly accessible to start playing, which is good to see.

The only issue I had was the difficulty scaling, the number of checkpoints vary even when you are on the same level, sometimes adding around 5 extra checkpoints, this seems a little unfair, meaning that sometimes the level will be straight up easier than other times.

Antagonistic : Hamburger Hill by ryte2byte 2017-05-01T21:00:19Z

Nice little tower defence game with a twist. Very polished with sound and nice graphics, all round a good job. I liked that friendly fire is switched on - made me second guess whether I should help my little ant buddies or not

Space Race by feips 2017-05-07T16:38:15Z

Really nice game, just very difficult, but the instant restarts made me want to keep trying again. Only small problem is that it would have been nice for there to be instructions for the controls before I started, but once I figured it out it was a lot of fun. Experimenting with different possible routes and approaches was super fun

The soundtrack was awesome too, well done to your friend.

A Small Earth by Skywilly 2017-05-01T13:03:30Z

I was playing, thinking this was a nice little minigame from someone who says they don't make games... then BAM.

I found this hilarious, thank you

Scaleshifter by loveapplegames 2017-05-08T19:58:49Z

This was a really fun mechanic, I like how your levels slowly added more layers to the game. It made it much easier to understand what was going on and how to play. The gameplay was simple, but very entertaining and addictive. I completed every level too. I also love the little fart sounds whenever you shot a small creature.

The only issue I had (which may be just because my laptop isn't very good so I'm not going to mark you down for it) is that the last level was really sluggish for me, but I still played it to completion regardless.

A Game with Bees by x1212 2017-05-07T14:15:22Z

Took a little bit of reading comments until I figured out what was going on, it would have been nice to label each part of the hive, because without its difficult to figure out what is what.

Graphics were very nice, and it was fairly relaxing to manage my hive when it got going

Sandelipe Boxenan by MestreRothLD 2017-05-06T23:01:13Z

This was a really well polished game, super pretty and really slick menus, took me a while to realize that the aim was to get a high population and instead just tried to get as many things to eat each other lol

Once I realized the aim was for a high population, I found it was very difficult to outside influence this and that you tend to just reach equilibrium, fluctuating between around 12 and 18 creatures. As a simulation this is great, but actually trying to influence the game in a meaningful way seemed difficult

Ninja-Vu by doomshmuck 2017-05-08T19:08:56Z

The music is top notch, the ninja wordplay is... interesting.

As for the gameplay, it would have been really good except for a few issues, the cone of view for the enemies doesn't quite line up with the actual detection range. But the more glaring issue is that enemies can see you through walls, it makes some of the solutions to levels a bit weird.

Violent Goat by Pixelcode 2017-05-01T08:42:33Z

Great first entry to an LD. Even though the game world itself was fairly smaller, it seemed like you had the mechanics and concept down. It's a impressive effort for a first try, with only a couple of bugs that I had stumbled across (falling down the elevator shaft got me stuck)

The graphics for the goat and robot were impressive, and the fact you made a full 3d scene including pretty good lighting were nice touches. For an extra level of polish it might have been cool to get sound effects for when the goat shoots, and when you get hit.

Also as other people have mentioned the text disappearing was also a problem, although I only really noticed it with the first text (execpt it was the controls so not ideal!)

Overall I really enjoyed playing, hope you enter future events :D

House 0.1.0(top down shooter) by thelonelynug 2017-05-09T17:18:56Z

I like it, it has a bit of a Hotline Miami vibe, I see you already know about the issue with bullets not registering when they hit enemies, maybe add a reload too?

Either way I did have well over one second of fun! If this is your first LD well done I look forward to see what you make next!

A Sassy Platformer by DragonZlay 2017-05-09T18:18:54Z

I think this game has potential, just a few issues with it, the actual physics is a bit weird, especially when you encounter walls (the "hill" sections are very difficult to navigate, sometimes you slide down for no reason), and the camera is really weird, with the way it doesn't follow the the player, it makes it very difficult to see what's ahead (which is kinda important for a platformer)

I did like the sarcastic narrator though, would have been better to have a group of randomized quotes for when you die though, just to mix it up.

Not So Small by CodeChomper 2017-05-09T17:35:34Z

I found this really difficult, being insta-killed by the bear wasn't too fun. I also had an issue where when the next part of the level turned up, no enemies came out... So I wandered over there and instantly died off screen.

I feel with a bit of balancing though, this could be a very fun game, the unfolding world was very cool I must admit.

Destroy Blocks by D-Studios 2017-05-08T20:14:38Z

I've found that if you are having performance/stability issues with unity, it is often much better as actual Window/Mac/Linux builds rather than webGL, which is always a little unstable.

The nonstandard controls were a bit weird... And the inability to turn was awkward, but it's nice that you had touches like the highscore and stuff, made me want to do extra runs after I lost the first time.

World Battles by Thinkofname 2017-05-11T12:53:54Z

Very simple but quite addictive, I liked how you could have different strategies, like placing all your guns on one side and trying to manuevour yourself so that all the enemies are in that direction. I would love to see things added to this, maybe additional types of weapons, shields and extra features that would help you to customise your world more.

Escape from Sytlanta by Gundatsch 2017-05-08T19:31:24Z

I like the idea of managing your small team to explore the island and find all the artifacts you need. The graphics and audio are really great too. The main problem I had (when I figure out what was going on) was that I was unsure of how to pass items from one part member to another, and spent so much time messing around trying to figure it out that I lost.

Space Keeper by ave 2017-05-01T20:41:16Z

It took me a while to figure out what the actual aim was. But it was good when I got going. The main issue I found was the difficulty scaling, where it became impossible to manage more than one ship (In the end I just set all ships to cloak and hoped for the best).

Also put your source code on git so I can look at it Josh!

Snake 3D by Harry Jacobs 2017-05-01T08:59:00Z

Prettiest snake game I've played! Like the concept of 3d, just had trouble sometimes going over a side of the planet instantly into scenery.

A bit of smoothing with the camera movement would have been appreciated. But doing so much on such a limited time is impressive.

Super Small-io World! by micahcowan 2017-05-04T21:42:29Z

The concept is really nice, it'd be cool to see this expanded. As it is, I thought it was very difficult (maybe add a few levels that ramp up the difficulty?). I found that finding the balance between carefully avoiding enemies, and hurrying to get all the coins made it more trail and error than skill.

(also I think it's really awesome that you've rolled out your own game engine, great stuff I'm going to take a look)

Small World Smasher by howardcs 2017-05-11T14:45:56Z

This is nice! Reminds me of a little minigame that I used to play on my Sky Box when I was young. Surprisingly difficult when you get to later levels.

One thing I would add if you are going to improve on this is maybe make it so that you can see the next color of the ball you're going to get, this way you would be better able to plan your moves, making it feel less unfair when you keep getting a color that just can't hit anything

Greedy Pigeon by jmborden 2017-05-01T08:50:50Z

I loved the soundtrack, and audio in general. Graphics were nice and flashy (like I feel like they should be). The game itself feels very complete and polished, my only problems were that I struggled with hitting the right buttons to go in the direction I wanted, although this may be just because I have never played QBert!

Shrimp Tank by slash_random 2017-05-07T18:21:57Z

I liked the idea - was very similar in concept to a game I made myself a few LDs ago. But I found it is a bit slow to progress, and that the fish feel far too difficult to avoid (as soon as I see one it ate me), although it was hilarious when I realized I could swim up, and suddenly encountered one. Another problem was with the camera, I like the idea that it tracks a bit forwards in the way you are going, but I felt it was too extreme to have your character almost end up at the edge of the screen.

The music is also somehow really funny, so kudos for that.

Mr. UN and the small world village by JulianMH 2017-05-08T15:39:29Z

As much as I question whether this is really world peace, not just a mass dictatorship, I did find this a lot of fun. It feels a bit like risk, starting off in australia, building resources (and asia being a very difficult place to capture). I enjoyed strategically throwing down walls to create smaller areas to convert in safety (one issue I had is I have no idea how setting the direction of the walls worked, it just seemed to change randomly).

I did feel like some of the ending powers are a bit too powerful (mainly followers can't be converted, that makes the game basically an instant win), so I had a lot more fun when I played a second time and avoided that upgrade.

Maybe as an extension to this, if you wanted to add to it, add something that drains resources as well as add them? So you can't just make infinite money, I feel like it would add an extra level of strategy.

Go Man's Sky by rawktron 2017-05-08T19:16:12Z

I want to play this (my game also is a No Mans Sky pun), but I am also having the same bug as @whatsagaym a readme with controls would be appreciated. I'll check back on this later :D

Small Planet by ZebraInFlames 2017-05-04T19:50:43Z

This is a great game for LD, small, extremely focused, and brilliantly polished. Graphics and audio are top notch. Controls are difficult to get a hang of, but fun when you do. AI doesn't seem too bad either. It also seems like a great idea that you can just add too, if you want to build this into a full game.

Only tiny improvement I could suggest is the ability to see the entire planet at the same time, so you can keep track of where all the other units are at a given time.

Small Planet by ZebraInFlames 2017-05-04T21:34:14Z

@ZebraInFlames a simple minimap with little coloured blips I feel could work really nicely :D

Orbitunes by ColeSlaughter 2017-05-09T15:11:47Z

Nice! It was a delight making a small tune... And slowly turning it into a mess of noise and colour (a fantastic mess).

It is very simplistic, but that's never a bad thing for LD entries, I could immediately start playing and experimenting with sounds as soon as I started.

Maybe add a way of removing selected notes from orbit? That way it would be easier to start to create better melodies.

Through the eye of a needle by MezzUK 2017-05-04T19:42:38Z

Audio and music was very good, could have done with a bit more visual clues for what was happening when you got hit, at first I thought it was bugged because I didn't lose health, until I started slowing down.

Destroy The Dome by SvartTand 2017-05-06T22:25:33Z

Fun little game, I like this as a sandbox to mess around with. There small touches, like seeing the city crumble as it lost health was a nice touch.

The only problem I had with it was it never felt challenging (nukes were understandably OP). Maybe ramp up the difficulty as you play?

IS THE REVIEW I WOULD HAVE WRITTEN BEFORE I REALIZED HOW TO PLAY ##

So I should have realized destroying the dome was an objective... When I started to try to do that it suddenly became a much more tense game of managing destroying the dome and keeping the enemies from destroying the city. Nukes became a last resort, and the entire thing became very exciting, great job

Exhaust of Earth by Lipsch 2017-05-08T20:29:35Z

Came here since you put adverts on my game xD

It's a nice little tower (planet?) defense game. Graphics are nice, the rocket effects are pretty cool. Balance is off, but it's an LD game, it's hard to balance in such as short amount of time

It probably wasn't ideal to start the game while you are still reading the tutorial text tho!

Exhaust of Earth by Lipsch 2017-05-09T15:20:08Z

@lipsch - Just played it! Seems a lot better, the difficulty still ramps up very quickly, but at least you're not stuck in a menu while it happens, so it's easier to build defense it time, very nice!

Every Man's Sky by blaster391 2017-05-01T12:40:20Z

@teekos Sorry about the cursor locking! Tried to get it to work, but rushed it in at the last second. Will have to look into it for next time.

@icxon - watch this space, I might try typing up a blog post on how it all works and post it later today, I'll edit this comment with a link. EDIT: HERE - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/every-mans-sky/every-mans-sky-breakdown

@scornz - now the framework is there, I was imagining being able to extend this - I was thinking maybe adding stars, orbits would be amazing, I would need to think about how to get this all to sync with the server.

@zelos & others - adding a skybox was something I had considered, it was more of a time thing as to why I didn't add it - I'm hoping as the more of the universe is created it will be easy to navigate

Every Man's Sky by blaster391 2017-05-06T21:53:12Z

@Dejvo That is a novel idea you had there. I think I might play your game because of it

Every Man's Sky by blaster391 2017-05-07T16:16:04Z

@nekoballs @rixud @feips - I'm so happy that you enjoyed it. My hope was to add more planet variations (maybe suns as well), but I just didn't have time. But I've just gone on and seen the universe today. It's crazy that it has grown this much :D

Every Man's Sky by blaster391 2017-05-07T22:03:19Z

@ryte2byte you should be able to? Press space when in the menu will exit it (except for if you are typing the name), I could have made that clearer though. Stardust and particle effects would certainly help the atmosphere.

@smiling-cat-entertainment thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it, extending the creation tools is an interesting idea, I found it is a fine line between making it easy to use and giving everyone the tools they want. An alignment tool is a cool idea, maybe snap to grid would mean people could create even cooler things

@lipsch I do agree I should have added a bit more atmosphere, I wanted to put together some music, but it was such a rush to finish it I never got chance. Particle effects sound cool, my thoughts were the ability to create suns, that use more particle effects than planets, and can emit light to change the way the world looks.

@chris-delta I see it as an experiment about what people do when they have a blank canvas to draw on... Turns out people promote themselves lol, I'm leaving it all because I don't want to moderate the space at all. I do see what you mean about there not being much to the core of the game, it is more a tech-demo/practice for me getting server side sync working well.

@wheffle Added customization is top of my list for things I could add to this project - I want it to be a creative space (pun intended) and anything I can do to enable more creativity from players is a plus.

@porcus-pie There is no Ludum Dare anymore, only memes... But really I'm glad you liked it, even if it is a bit bare bones content wise, it is still incredible to see how much people have done with it

Every Man's Sky by blaster391 2017-05-07T22:03:19Z

@kleinzach - I'm glad you like it! UI isn't my strong suit, so I just wanted to make it as clear and easy to use as possible, even if it isn't very pretty. You were right about it being a risk, I made it having no idea how people would respond to it. I'm happy that so many people seem to enjoy it!

@coleslaughter - a web playable version would be cool, I was tempted to make it, I was just unsure of how the network side of things would react in browser, and whether I would run out of browser memory, so I played it safe. The text was a last minute thing, I did want to make it so the name always faced the player but this broke when I implemented planet rotation, and I couldn't work out the maths in time to get it to work properly, so in the future this would be implemented (hopefully). Depth is an interesting one, that I have also noticed when playing, especially now the universe is more full, I was thinking of making a line appear, between you and the planet, to give a bit of a sense of distance? Being able to adjust the distance is also a must. Thank you for your detailed response :D

@gundatsch - I do like how people are making one planet, then other people coming and adding planets around with the same theme, so I see the messenger side of this, it's like a tiny community being formed. And yeah, sound would have been in if I had time... I was tempted to just play the "2001 A Space Odyssey" theme on loop, but I decided against it on copyright grounds.

@slash-random I really was blown away by the creativity of some folks. And yeah, it is kinda an MMO, I just wanted too see what the LD community did when they all came together with a blank canvas

Every Man's Sky by blaster391 2017-05-09T18:21:50Z

@recursor - I see what you mean lol, I was going with the "Lots of Small worlds", but I guess it comes out as "Big Universe". Also I'm glad at least someone else knows about ravenDB :D Was super easy to work with for this project.

Every Man's Sky by blaster391 2017-05-09T20:38:47Z

@Laaph oops, I forgot about that what platform are you on? I'll try and make a build for you

Every Man's Sky by blaster391 2017-05-15T21:28:28Z

@laaph Sorry for the delays! My laptop decided to give up on me, please try out the new mac build (completely untested though, so good luck)

@jishenaz - This is unfortunately a feature I didn't have chance to put together, maybe in a future version.

@local-minimum Yeah, I was intending on updating the screenshots as it progressed, but each time I logged on I was completely blown away, so I decided to try and leave it as a surprise for people.

@blackrose @dragonzlay @local-minimum (and everyone else Re: graphics) - Graphics has never been my strong suit when it's come to game dev, it's why I try and go for an abstract style, making things simple and clean for the user, but thanks to all the suggestions and material people have given me to work with, I am definitely going to hone my skills to try and improve the look of my future projects.

AND FOR EVERYONE

Thank you so much for taking the time to play my game and helping it become what it is now, this was as much of a game than it was an experiment to see what the community could create and it is beautiful in it's own way, all the support I've received is pretty overwhelming. Any criticism both positive and negative is really appreciated, allowing me to evaluate what I need to work on, as well as what my strengths as a developer are. It's kinda crazy seeing the universe as it is now, I'm very interested to see how far this will go before the end of the compo (or the server explodes) Thank you all again <3

Tiny Terraformer by Wheffle 2017-05-09T00:10:29Z

Very relaxing management game, I like the music and managing all the little variables to try and my my colony as good as possible. Ended with a score of 79% which seems pretty good :D

Its a small world by SuperMsp10 2017-05-02T20:14:13Z

I enjoyed this little game, even if I did plummet to my death, many, many times. And the time I won was when I found the guy on the first planet I went to lol

Controls were good, except like other people have said, the boost power up was more of a negative that should be avoided. Maybe some way of controlling how much power you put in the jump would be cool (hold down mouse click?)

Let's Be Happy in Our Small World by Tuomo 2017-05-08T15:20:08Z

A very polished entry, I like it! The transitions between the world and the picking people menu is very slick. I like how the difficulty ramps up. With curveballs like people who are identical except with different shoes.

(Maybe this happens at later levels and I wasn't good enough) But maybe a neat extension of this would be have multiple things happen in one level (e.g both a vase is smashed and a cat spooked) and you have to remember who did both, it would certainly add to the difficulty.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Tax Rebel by LeReveur 2017-08-01T21:24:11Z

The pathfinding is really good, with both the player and AI, but man this game is unforgiving, the vision of enemies seem to spot you if you stand too close to corners.

Still, despite the difficulty I still wanted to try again and again to score a point, so it is pretty addictive.

The only improvement I could think of is to open up the middle area of the map, as on a couple of attempts I ended up stuck in there, sandwiched between too enemies

Orbital Rescue by sanojian 2017-08-02T20:20:51Z

Really interesting mechanic, I found it difficult at first but after a few tries to get a grip on how the grapple feels to use it's great. Graphics is really good too. I did find it was a little too hard for me near the end, but that's personal preference.

Also I had the same bug that @obidubi, in some of the levels the grapple retracted randomly (I think it's linked to the small planets falling apart, I'm not sure)

Leonardo Montes' DUNKIRK by Repusv 2017-08-01T21:13:30Z

Possibly the nicest UI I've seen in a LD game, I love how the dials break after you get hit! The general style of the game is really nice too. My only complaints are with the enemy movement, as has been said before, the weaving makes it very difficult and doesn't really feel like dogfighting, more like target practice. Also I found it very hard to distinguish friend from foe, and often ended up causing much accidental friendly fire

Artifact Dive by AdroitConceptions 2017-08-02T19:49:56Z

The music is nice, but I felt the sound balance was a bit off, I think I actually jumped slightly when I first got attacked (wasn't expecting the charge). I finished it very quickly, so maybe could have added some more variety in the map?

EDIT: Just checked your post mortem, looks like you already had considered the additional content for the level, as well as some cool other features, it's a shame you didn't get chance to implement it all

Mecha Warriors by blaster391 2017-08-02T12:47:28Z

@piscythe thank you for the detailed feedback, overall I was quite pleased with the balance of the stats and enemy progression too.

As for the issue with attacking enemies, I have not encountered this bug myself but I have had issues where enemies have not been targeted and the player hasn't noticed, really I should have made the target indicator clearer, and perhaps made the auto targeting work better

Beachside Battery by Dayna Stevenson 2017-08-01T21:36:28Z

I really like the art style, it fits together very nicely with the music too. The gameplay is also very good, the only changes I would do to polish it would be to speed up the character a bit, as I felt the travelling was really slow, and I also thought the power cost of some of the abilities were too high, as I would hit max power and then find I didn't have enough power to use them by the time the next enemies appeared

Grand Theft Life by silkworm_sweatshop 2019-05-01T21:53:19Z

Finally, a game that allows me to fulfil my life long dream of making G.E.C.G's a reality. Thank you.

But for real, this game was actually really fun, I had one run through to see my options, then restarted to try to live the life I wanted. I'd love to see a concept like this fleshed out in full, with more options and choices to make over your life. Really good. Great interpretation of the theme too btw.

Something Of Legend by blaster391 2019-04-30T06:41:34Z

@velvetlobster Thank you for playing our game! I'm glad you enjoyed the art. Your feedback is appreciated

Just to understand the UI issues you were having, was the text at the top that was cut off the enemy speech bubble? Maybe I set the scaling mode wrongly in Unity

Also to try to understand the difficulties you had playing the game, were you pressing space after typing your combo to actually use the attack?

Something Of Legend by blaster391 2019-05-01T07:05:31Z

@prideling what aspect ratio are you trying to run? The game should be limited to 16:9 or 16:10 (otherwise the UI falls apart, something I am working on for next jam)

I assumed that the Unity intro screen would just limit you to those options... Maybe I had too much faith in unity xD

Something Of Legend by blaster391 2019-05-01T07:07:43Z

@maou we anticipated some difficulty learning the controls (which is why the first enemy does not attack).

I think for next game I will try to bring the tutorial in a little bit at a time (e.g, first battle tell you about attacking, second about blocking, etc)

Something Of Legend by blaster391 2019-05-01T07:31:53Z

@belug23 glad you liked it! Does the linux build run okay? I don't have any way of testing it, but I always like to build one just in case someone wants to try it.

Something Of Legend by blaster391 2019-05-01T07:35:27Z

@fadex by entrance, do to mean the shop? I wasn't happy about the clarity of the shop UI, but hey, limited time.

I'm guessing your issue probably was buying your first combos, you have to press the numbered buttons by the side of the combo you want

(and for the first shop you have to buy both the combos, don't want players getting into trouble because they don't have an attack or block!)

Something Of Legend by blaster391 2019-05-03T12:23:46Z

@silkworm-sweatshop Yeaahhh, I think it might have been a mistake to have purple shields over the top of a purple monster as the only indication of successful blocking. The blocking mechanics were especially difficult to design in a way that made them skillful, balanced and intuitive. I feel like our implementation of it was balanced, but not always intuitive to new players.

@bar I'm glad you enjoyed our game! Having two actions at once was a last minute decision, I wasn't sure whether anyone would notice it, so it's good to see you liked it. 94 health at the end game is way more than I've managed, that's impressive.

@tiagorrech Thank youuuu <3 The next jam I do I am definitely going to focus on how to better tutorialise the game so that players don't have to take in so much information at once

Electric Sheep by player2point0 2019-04-30T20:44:56Z

@memel06 - I found pushing the sheep into grass made them eat, they're not very independent sheep!

This concept was really interesting, and I'm impressed that you managed to tie all these bot-generated things together in one package. I feel like given a couple of tweaks this game would be pretty fun too.

I found the basic gameplay loop - herding sheep to food/water - fending off wolves fun, but I want to move faster! Pushing those sheep is hard work, and chasing off a wolf only to find out all my sheep have died of hunger in the meantime was sad, maybe make their base hunger/thirst meters a little higher?

I'm very curious about the Machine Learning aspect however - I am using ml-agents in my University dissertation, I couldn't imagine getting everything set up properly and making a full game with it in less than three days! How long was the training time for the AI? And had you had experience with ml-agents before this project?

Electric Sheep by player2point0 2019-05-03T12:34:59Z

@player2point0 (sorry for the delay, I meant to reply sooner) Getting well trained AI is always a headache, I end up with big folders of different variants of neural nets... And then have to slightly change an output making them all unusable :c

My dissertation is basically focused on looking at whether ML AI could be suitable replacements for traditional state machine AI (the answer is, not entirely).

So it's basically focused on training AI cars to race around a racetrack, giving each car a different brain which has different types of input (one has a topdown camera view as an input, another has just a vector telling it the direction of the next checkpoint for example). I have spent so long watching cars drive around, looking like they are going to perform successfully, only for them to turn sharply into a random wall, crushing all of my hopes and dreams.

Strangely it appears throwing more information at a neural net can actually train it faster, at least in the cases I've been trying it. Just giving it a camera as an input is surprisingly effective, but good luck trying to maintain any reasonable FPS when you have 10+ AI running around all rendering the scene from their own cameras haha.

As for hyperparameters, they are still absolute black magic to me, I tweak them occasionally and it either helps training times slightly, or completely breaks them and makes them never learn at all!

Koe by velvetlobster 2019-04-30T20:58:34Z

Not the game I should have played just before bed! I liked the dark humour, and how you managed to create tension as the game ramped up, with a lot of surprises in a short space of time.

Since the game was so artsy it's hard to draw meaningful critique, I think the only changes I would have made is to the popups, some were far too short before they vanished again - it's frustrating missing some of the dialogue because of it. Also, especially during the beginning as you are interacting with objects and getting pop-ups, and the "narrator" (you I guess) is also making pop-ups they can mix and get disorientating, however some could argue that is part of the atmosphere.

I'm gonna go calm my nerves now xD

DollarBot - Ludum Dare 44 - First Time! by Elmos Minion 2019-04-30T20:10:47Z

Oh wow, running out of money was... unexpected

It's good to see all the kind of core features in place, moving, sound, camera controls. And the shooting money effect + the effect of your backpack/moneybag was nice.

Other than move gameplay/interactable things, I think there's a few little bits of polish that would be really nice. Mainly just little things like starting the the camera zooming out, and making sure the targetting reticle doesn't disappear behind the player when you aim (maybe move the camera slightly onto the players shoulder, so you can see what you're aiming at?)

This is the first game I've rated this jam, if they're all like this I'm ready for a wild ride :D

utsvulten by ditto 2019-05-01T20:06:33Z

This is art. I don't know what I felt while playing it... But it was definitely an experience. Everything is so simple, but it didn't need anything else. Although, it looks like you were aiming for it to be a multiplayer experience as well. That would be quite something!

Sacrifice by lou_untitled 2019-04-30T20:30:55Z

This is a really pretty little game, I liked the bloom, very nice on the menu screen.

The game was pretty relaxing, after the initial panic of starting everyone dying at the start before I even built anything, maybe a little bit of warm up time to let you build some buildings before the bodies start piling up?

I liked the chill music (although it's a very stark contrast between that and "EVERYONE IS DYING OF DISEASE" haha

There's a few little touches that really added to it, like the dynamic grass that disappears when you place buildings

My only critique (which is a very minor one, give it being a game jam) is that after the initial set up, once your population is stable, it seems almost impossible to lose. However with the extra features you've suggested in the description it could turn into a very nice little management game.

This was fun, thank you!

Farm McShooty by holo 2019-10-08T20:56:52Z

Love the sound fx ;)

I always have a lot of respect for people who make FPS games in jams, there a lot to do in such a short time. Although there wasn't much to it, I played until my debt was paid off.

My main criticism was the lag when moving the gun, it seemed a little excessive that as you turned it would take almost a second for the gun to catch up.

For extending the gameplay, I think it would be cool to have the same mechanics, but make watering your crops really important (and have them take longer to grow) so you have to frantically running around shooting water at your crops to keep them alive. You say half the game was cut, I'd be interested to see what else you had planned for it :)

Private Universe by Zathnic 2019-10-08T18:29:19Z

Although it didn't really have much to do with the theme, I thought this was a very fun game. I am not normally good at platformers, however I found some of the jumping puzzles very interesting, having to think about how you move in mid air to actually make the was surprisingly intuitive.

I also must say I didn't realize the relation to the dirt blocks and gravity until I got the pickaxe, it was an enlightening moment haha.

I thought that the ability to build would make the game super easy, but somehow it only got harder past that point, which I put down to good level design!

The only thing I would have done to improve is add audio, just a little jump and landing sound or something, but it's a jam, so it's understandable if you didn't have time.

Kobold Simulator by someone 2019-10-21T17:39:24Z

Nice work on the engine, having animations and shadow mapping in is neat. There's obviously additions to be made (there always is in engine development) but it'd be cool to see how it's progressed by next jam.

I'd be interested to know more about your engine stack, like which renderer you used, and whether it's ECS etc. :)

Quatocicople by xk_the_name 2019-10-08T19:18:33Z

I really like the mood of this game, the audio and graphics go well together. Gameplay is solid if not a little bit basic, but it definitely gives you that "one more try" feeling.

It would have been nice to see a little bit more variation between levels, but I guess you would have without time constraints.

Cosmoteer by masterkrepta 2019-10-09T20:20:12Z

That was loud to start off

I liked the ship building itself around you, unfortunately I found it fairly difficult to navigate as the camera is fixed, making exploring hard. If I was missing camera controls I would like to play again, because I want to find more stuff :)

Pen's Elope by Frank Boivin 2019-10-10T20:34:51Z

For people how are stuck on the first puzzle, simply select the middle gear, and then click between the other two gears. Everything makes more sense afterwards! But the start is super confusing

The game may be simple, but the art is really beautiful and music really sets the mood well :) It was very chill to sit and play for a short while

Something from Nothing by Alphish 2019-10-08T21:16:56Z

It's a simple concept, but it is enjoyable arranging the letters.

It's nice that the game autosaves, I've completed a few areas but there's still a long way to go. I might come back to it when I want to chill out :)

Duck Fortress by shrapx 2019-10-10T20:48:46Z

16 traps found (and 3 bags) that bag surrounded by people caught me out.

I like the idea, but without any audio the rhythm based controls feel a little sluggish but once you get used to it timing movements to avoid enemies is still pretty fun

Unfinished: The Game by jondalnas 2019-10-21T20:41:55Z

The climbing mechanic was actually pretty good (you have a typo in your controls description on this page btw...)

It would have been really cool to see your game finished, there's always next jam :)

The main problem I had is that the jump button press seemed to be ignored 50% of the time, had a quick look in your source code, looks like you made the same mistake I've made soooo many times, for some reason Unity has a chance just to ignore GetButtonDown's sometimes when you have them in fixed update (I have a 144hz monitor, I think the high framerate can confuse it). I feel like this is a massive flaw that unity has since it wants all it's physics stuff doing in FixedUpdate, but it's something that you need to awkwardly work around unfortunately.

Unwatered by bazld 2019-10-21T17:52:19Z

I really like the water physics, the puzzles are fairly straightforward (except for level 4 which made me feel like a genius when I figured it out)

The graphics are really good, but it would be nice with more colour.

The only bug I had was water droplets sometimes getting stuck on top of the plant pot, but it never was bad enough to stop me completing the level.

@alphish I agree with the W/S upgrade being a bit confusing, I had to make a trade of between ease of use and making it not completely overpowered, I think the hardest part of the game was designing powerups in such a way that they don't just make any puzzle trivial. Thank you for your detailed feedback :)

And thank you to everyone who has left such nice comments, around Saturday evening I was feeling very nervous that the concept wasn't going to work out well, and I'd just create a confusing mess, so it's nice to see how much people have enjoyed it! I was concerned that most people would get too confused and just quit at the start, so I'm glad that people managed to figure it out without much guidance

0 by blaster391 2019-10-10T20:25:04Z

@mruniverse @sheepolution @daniiln thank you all for your feedback! I think the movement is the weakest part of the game, unfortunately unity physics was fighting against me a lot, the circular hitbox was a workaround as square hitboxes would collide with the seams between floor tiles. I also had to hack the movement a lot as the last minute, as I found physics behaved completely differently outside of the unity editor (despite accounting for differing framerates in code) Lesson learned, next time I will make sure to compile a proper build on Saturday to catch these things earlier.

0 by blaster391 2019-10-10T22:04:23Z

@randomnine @svipal the ending was actually the first bit I implemented, I thought that for most of my LD games the "you win" screen is hacked in at the end. So I decided I wanted to try to make it a bit more special this time :) I'm happy it paid off!

@tigerfinch @captaindreamcast thank you for your feedback and kind words!

Rag Racer or: How I learned to stop worrying and love the bump by CaptainDreamcast 2019-10-10T19:12:20Z

That was a very funny game, I honestly think I laughed out loud a little bit when the race was starting!

I did have trouble figuring out exactly how to control properly, and ended up going sideways while exploding quite a lot. I managed to get to second place on my third attempt!

Cemetery Sweep by Locomule 2019-10-10T19:21:03Z

I managed to get a highscore of 108, I'm not sure where that puts me compared to everyone else?

I like how simple the concept is but how satisfying it is, I could see this being a nice little mobile game. I was surprised at how well made it was to say it is a scratch game.

The only improvement I would make is put a different sound when you are one space away from death (I died many times because I thought I could move more than I could actually)

Cemetery Sweep by Locomule 2019-10-10T19:21:20Z

Also nice music!

Garbage Shop by MRUniverse 2019-10-09T21:05:19Z

I really liked the take on the theme, in an incredibly bleak kind of way.

I think it would be good to include a readme.txt with the game, or a little bit on your page explaining the controls since I couldn't figure out how to close the inventory (I assume there must be a key, I just ended up closing it by talking to people)

I felt it was very hard to make money, and ended up not making it through the night since surprisingly random people on the street didn't want my huge collection of used harmonicas. But I guess the dark mood the game sets is kind of the point.

The Inexperienced ATM by coatline 2019-10-08T21:41:19Z

I agree with LudumAnthony, this would be a fun game to play on mobile, it's simple but keeps you hooked. But man those vandals are fast, I think I only successfully fended one off once...

My highscore was about 60 before the vandals got me... I really am inexperienced.

Out Of Nothing by Toryf 2019-10-10T20:08:19Z

I scored 28444 points, I actually really liked the way it played, the simple sound effects changing when you got damaged worked nicely.

I was actually surprised once I got damaged and everything went upside down and the sounds ramped up.

The only addition I would make is some way of seeing your score as you go, but this might be difficult to do without ruin the ambience. I also thought the score disappeared too quickly after finishing.

ARCADE GIRL by ROBOWARRIOR1982 2019-10-10T17:30:14Z

I love the concept, I liked spamming buttons to skip the loading screen.

I would like to see this expanded, where changing more of the options in the menu changes more parts in the game, but that would be far out of the scope of 48 hours. With time time you had it was really cohesive (but thank you for the tip on this page, I would be so confused otherwise)

Drum by Mountday 2019-10-09T20:33:50Z

I liked the concept, but I found the platforming very difficult so could not progress very far which is a shame as I wanted to see what kind of instruments you unlocked.

I feel like the simplest improvement would have been to increase the jump height as I think that would make the platforming much nicer... or maybe I just need to get good ;)

The Island by Zsolt 2019-10-21T21:51:48Z

Walking was a bit funky to get started with, other than that no real issues. Would have been nice to see a few more mechanics (thirst, etc) but given the time constraints it's a pretty good entry.

Also water wasn't affected by lighting, making nighttime super weird

Rail shooter prototype by Chocolat-Endive 2019-10-08T21:03:43Z

This is a super stylish game, I love the aesthetic, and the little effects like when the enemies explode.

It is a shame you didn't get to make more this, but what you did have was really polished. (Shame death wasn't fully implemented by the looks of it)

If you kept working on this post jam it could turn into a very nice little scifi shoot-em up

Strössla Skit by ankan 2019-10-08T20:30:00Z

I'm not entirely sure what I just witnessed. The graphics (especially the opening/game over) were very impressive.

I feel like I might have missed something more after learning the initial controls, but there was something funny about spamming the planet with pyramids.

Substructure by Mateusz Wojtkowski 2019-10-09T20:40:06Z

Saying you started with no knowledge of unity it's cool that you made something that seems so polished (even if there really isn't too much there)

It would have been cool to see where you were planning to go with this, the ambience is fantastic. I loved the little details with the graphics like the "commander 46" :)

Hunger by Esben Jensen 2019-10-10T19:44:46Z

The collecting mechanics work well, I would have made the items a little rarer so you had to rush more, I found I could afford food easily.

Also some sort of score would be nice, time survived or total money or something.

Overall the basics are there, anything added now would be just polish :)

Moonlight Kingdom by lesinvisible 2019-10-09T21:41:19Z

It was really surprising to hear voiceacting, especially pretty good ones at that. The artstyle and mood were really well put together, it draws you in to the strange, unsettling world you've created.

The writing was really good too, keeping you wondering just what is going on.

I'm not going to recommend any improvements as I see this as an art piece as much as a game. Good job!

HONK by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2019-10-10T19:02:48Z

Might not have been part of the theme, but it was a very polished little shooter. I would have liked to see more Goose to make it suit the name more ;)

My one criticism was that after playing for a few minutes it was very difficult to see anything over all the blood effects, which then didn't restart after you died.

HONK by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2019-10-10T19:46:01Z

Ah that is understandable, it's a shame you didn't manage to make full levels, that would have been super cool!

HONK by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2019-10-10T19:57:38Z

That is very true, the shooting mechanics and graphics were really polished

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-10T19:28:35Z

Graphics are simple but I always think simple and clean is best for ludum. I am amazed someone can score so high, I tried around 10 times and I think I got maybe 20/25 points!

I think this game would be much improved with a little sound, if you've not already seen it, there's a great little tool called sfxr that was made for a Ludum Dare years ago that lets you synthesis simple 8/16 bit sounds really quickly. Just a little pew pew sound would make the game really satisfying i think.

Good luck with your university project!

Cavern Train Heist by microgravitydan 2019-10-08T21:27:49Z

Something about this game makes me feel uneasy, the bad gay standing there ominously gave me some serious horror game vibes, I was expecting a jumpscare to be honest

I think the train carriage layout means that trying to run away from the guy when he comes after you is a little difficult... Fortunately I ran at him, knocking him through the train and out into the void never to be seen again... Probably not the intended outcome, but it was very funny!

In response to the previous comment, I didn't find any issues with the sensitivity.

Neon Sunset by tobb 2019-10-08T20:39:58Z

I'm not sure what this has to do with the theme, but I do love myself some synthwave so I enjoyed it nonetheless.

The art style and music worked together nicely, the only thing I would improve on (other than the default sensitivity) would be to provide more feedback to the player. I found it very difficult to know what my health was, or even if I was being shot.

Also out of curiosity, is there an end, or is it endless? I survived for around 5/6 level I think :)

Reconcile by SuperLee 2019-10-21T17:32:03Z

This was an nice concept, I found it a little difficult at the start as I kept getting which color goes on which side mixed up when neither of them were full.

I gave up and tried the easy version, managed to get the black side full, but hardly any white. Did I just get unlucky RNG?

The Godpath by Neon Android 2019-10-08T18:46:51Z

Jeff was not a kind god... or a very good one at that. He didn't really care much for the universe, instead he just wanted to cause chaos. So when the final age came everybody and everything died... I don't know what the meaning of "BAD END" was, to Jeff, that was perfect.

Billy on the otherhand was kind and benevolent god, who defeated his enemies through the power of friendship.

I thought this was a really well written game, and the music was fantastic at setting the mood. I have no real criticism as I enjoyed my time playing it.

The only issue I faced was a slight bit of confusion caused by text scrolling off the bottom of the screen (mainly the thing I had to press to continue) and since I was in full screen I could not the scroll bar.

Overall, 10/10 would google what Anathema means again.

click4cats by spacey3d 2019-10-10T20:12:01Z

I clicked, I got cats. 10/10

LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep It Undead by pcmaster 2020-04-21T19:31:24Z

It took me a little bit to realize we were meant to be escaping, not infecting everyone, but once I figured it out it was a really fun puzzle!

The hand drawn art style is super pretty :)

Pro tip to anyone who didn't realize: you can click and drag to select multiple people

Joe Disco by limered 2020-05-09T15:31:52Z

I love the voice acting! Managed to get a score of 10,428 :)

CHAD THE BABY SAVER by Brendev 2020-04-23T20:23:58Z

Very funny! I liked that they could steal you too, and you could become a different baby, it was very surprising

I found it very hard to beat riot shields, so I ended up giving them a baby so they turned their backs to me haha :)

ORB by blaster391 2020-04-21T20:34:15Z

Thank you for all the valuable feedback everyone!

Player controls are always a weakness of mine, especially platformers, I'm going to spend some time prototyping before the next jam to try to develop some more solid feeling movement :)

Also shoutout to @jaybaus for his art! And @productshard for his beautiful lighting tech!

(and @karltechno for programming wizardry, and @dmatarov for audio wizardry)

Spikey by Edmanbosch 2020-04-23T19:22:11Z

Fun game, camera could do with a little work, I think it being inverted was a little off putting.

I'd like to see where you could take this with more levels though :)

Tower Defence of the Heart by terry 2020-04-21T20:23:19Z

This was pretty difficult right from the start you have to be quick and strategic, I like that you can reactively sell towers and move closer to your base when you need to.

The tower defence genre can feel a bit basic sometimes, but this was really well polished and enjoyable :)

And of course, the music made me actually laugh out loud.

Trending Beasts by Siuler LM 2020-04-21T19:16:34Z

I like the idea! I'd like to see it expanded on to add move gameplay and a bit more challenge (that said, reaching 90% seems really hard, but losing also seems impossible)

Alien Inquisitor by bsdrago 2020-04-21T18:24:11Z

It's a shame you didn't manage to complete it, the concept was really nice, I'd like to see more :)

Protect the Egg by dk5000p 2020-05-09T15:26:20Z

I tried to playing online with a couple friends, I think we got into a game together, but they didn't move? Maybe this was because we were using the web browser version?

Protect the Walnut! by Eduardo Yukio 2020-04-23T19:33:26Z

Hey, it feels like it would be a nice little platformer and the throwing walnut mechanic could be fun, unfortunately I can't seem to make the walnut reach the first button, perhaps the physics is tied to framerate? Or I'm being silly and missing something :D

Protect the Walnut! by Eduardo Yukio 2020-04-23T20:00:28Z

@eduardo-yukio Ahhh I see! I have managed to progress now, thank you :D

Together by Ulcius 2020-04-23T19:55:57Z

This is a really unique take on the theme, there's an amazing amount of content here too, complete art, music and mini games!

I really like the puzzle with "There must be something I can do" mixing narrative with gameplay brilliantly :)

No criticism here a really solid experience!

a plant called martha by Tetralogia 2020-04-23T20:15:59Z

That was really calming :) I liked the little snippets of humour spread through it, I was expecting a final form, but it's a jam so it's understandable that it's not full finished

Running Old Game On Windows 10 Simulator 2020 by Kszaku 2020-04-21T19:51:36Z

This is genius! I don't think I've ever seen a jam entry quite like this.

I love meta games like this, it was really authentic and getting to the end genuinely felt like an accomplishment.

Coal Of Duty by Empheon 2020-05-09T14:56:49Z

I loved the character animations, and then sounds when you land a kick :)

I really enjoyed this, the only problem I had was knowing whether my kicks would connect with the enemies, so I just ran away most of the time!

to Leave by 5imon 2020-04-21T19:07:55Z

Wow this is such a polished game, I love it when you first find those two beats that just come together.

The graphics are super pretty and I love the little interactions with the level (chopping down wood, swimming)

I think the "I need water" at the start throws you off as I spent a lot of time clicking the water before haha

Rock' em All by Yigit Doruk 2020-04-21T17:59:23Z

Those songs are really good, I feel like you missed a trick by not having the attack sound a guitar riff ;)

The particle effects on the attacks when you hit the enemies look really cool!

The tutorial was a nice addition, giving you chance to experiment with the controls before being under real pressure.

My only complaint is that you hide the score when you lose! I don't know what my final score was (I was aiming for 1000, I think I didn't quite make it tho)

Overall this was very fun!

SheepShot by RoofloorWall 2020-04-23T19:39:09Z

I made it to 5am before the sheep overwelmed me! It was suprisingly fun when things started speeding up, maybe add some little animal you have to avoid shooting and it could be really challenging :)

The Last Flower by Unimaginable_Code_Studios 2020-04-23T20:44:45Z

Hey this is super fun! The controls are smooth, and spamming the sword throwing to defeat waves of enemies was awesome.

I had to skip level 3 because it was really hard! I played through all the other levels though.

A really cool entry

Fire Keeper by Taroleon 2020-05-09T15:48:47Z

The really fog effects are really cool! And the animations are great. I love the ambience of this game

Space Jam by ReallyQbert 2020-05-09T14:06:25Z

This was a neat bullet hell game - I found that since the energy lost from shooting wasn't that much less than being hit I just never bothered shooting.

I think the main problem was that enemies dropped health even when they ran into you, which meant that I could stand still and tank attacks and actually gain health! Maybe the enemies should only drop health if you shoot them? It would make the game much harder, but also give you a good reason to shoot sometimes.

This was a really good entry for a first time jammer, complete with audio and cool explosion effects :)

Tile Rider! by VernalBehemoth 2020-05-09T14:42:17Z

I liked the unique aesthetic and the way the world pops in and out of view. The game itself seems very large for a jam (I was playing the post jam build though, so maybe that's why :D)

I think I progressed quite far, I was returning to my home to return the gold I'd found, but I couldn't find my way back. Perhaps all that's needed for a little bit of extra polish is some sort of compass to make it easier to navigate?

Floriculture by Brickington 2020-04-21T18:03:17Z

I am a monster, I cheated at the start because my windowsill looked sad when it was empty :(

I left this running on a second screen and kept forgetting about it, it is somehow satisfying when you glance over and the day night cycle has changed slightly, or your plants have grown, just a little.

I think I will leave this running :)

Puppy Peril! by Terderrer 2020-05-09T14:21:06Z

This was fun! Managed a high score of 71 before being hit by a ghost.

I liked the way the difficulty ramped up, and how you slowly introduced all the enemy types. Maybe the ghost shouldn't remove score since you couldn't kill them though?

WordChain by mp_raxxius 2020-04-21T17:45:16Z

That BGM is beautiful

Normally I'm not very good at word games, but I enjoyed the chill atmosphere and always had the desire to just place one more word! I liked the special tiles randomly appearing giving you something to aim towards.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

LoopFrog: An Amphibian Odyssey by hgcummings 2020-10-07T19:01:26Z

When we were brainstorming ideas for this jam we came up with this exact idea. I'm glad someone made it :)

Skyloop by Coda Highland 2020-10-07T21:57:29Z

I liked the simple but effective retro style. It would be cool to see the tracks developed a bit futher, but it is impressive getting such a polished complete project from a single person!

One annoying bug I noticed was the music not looping, meaning in later levels I would be driving around just listening to the engine :c

Skyloop by Coda Highland 2020-10-07T22:26:20Z

@coda-highland windows 10, Google Chrome, all fairly up to date (pc built last month). I'll give it another go tomorrow and see if it was just some weird one off issue

Skyloop by Coda Highland 2020-10-08T09:35:08Z

Just given it a second attempt on my work PC, the the music doesn't loop there either so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong  It's only really noticeable after 3-4 races, but later in the game you'll end up doing 2 or three laps with no music

Moby's Trip by blaster391 2020-10-07T20:43:52Z

@karoukodil thank you for the feedback! Although I believe there is no much thing as too much blur ;)

We actually experimented with drift sfx and rotating the car as you moved and went around corners, unfortunately we couldn't implement something that felt good in the time we had

Moby's Trip by blaster391 2020-10-07T21:02:10Z

@antti-haavikko thank you for taking the time to write such a long and detailed review!

Unity UI is a bane for us all, we probably could have made it clearer that it was an input field (it should autoselect, but unity is unity)

I'm not sure what the issue with the collision would have been, unless you are using the pidgeon, as the hitboxes are based around the deja vu (we wanted to keep it balanced). I do admit that some obstacles can feel a bit unfair, we didn't have too much time for balancing, we were working on features right until the end!

As for the scoring and randomisation, going slowly is a valid strategy, however I don't think it is the optimal one. Scoring is actually based on distance travelled, rather than time spent alive, so going slower doesn't mean you will score better. Difficulty however is based on time rather than distance travelled, as time progresses more obstacles will appear. That said, the sections that spawn a lot of cassettes also only turn up after you have been alive a while, so I guess you could drive slowly until they start to spawn ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So far the highest score I have obtained was done by driving as fast as possible in clear sections, braking whilst approaching inclines to give me more chances to dodge, and only firing when I see cars. There may be exploits, but I'm waiting to see if anyone beats my score first ;)

Shooting cassettes shouldn't give you any points, which is the penalty to stop you spamming the gun all the time.

Moby's Trip by blaster391 2020-10-26T09:33:15Z

@justcamh hey man! Just watched your VOD. It was really great feedback! It is really interesting to hear someones thoughts as they are playing/learning the mechanics of the game, and seeing what they find easy/difficult to understand. We will try to take it all onboard for the next jam :)

Defuse in under 5 by Darylsteak 2020-10-07T18:24:55Z

Nice clean artstyle, easy to learn and fun to beat. I love that you can just keep blowing yourself up trying to guess the right combo too!

Suicidal Boyfriend by Federico Giorgi 2020-10-07T21:39:34Z

bruh...

Maybe a little bit too far? I think it was an interesting concept, but I'm not sure running around trying to baby-proof a house is the best way to prevent suicide haha. It is a very well polished game, even if it is indeed super dark

Couples Delight by KingOfNova 2020-10-07T21:11:30Z

I laughed quite a bit! I was intentionally being a terrible person, and it was only the second time around where I realized that I had no choice but to be awful!

Demobius Derby by Alasdair Hitchen 2020-10-24T09:11:11Z

After dying many times to veering off the road to my doom, I found that playing with a controller made a much better experience. I even managed to complete multiple laps in a row! Also nice use of Perturbator.

10/10 second best mobius strip based driving game I've played all jam

shockwave op pls nerf

Stuck In a Hoard (While Looping) by WitekWitek 2020-10-07T18:35:33Z

Nice entry, it would be cool to have a slightly bigger map, but all the core mechanics are there! I did find the enemy balls are a little slow, so it was easy to run them around in circles forever!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Dwarves + Dragons by ThePelranthean 2021-04-26T21:32:12Z

A working link for the download appears to be https://github.com/leyarotheconquerer/dwarves_dragons/releases/ Gonna give it a go now :)

Dwarves + Dragons by ThePelranthean 2021-04-26T21:42:59Z

This game made me nostalgic for the old Lemmings games, pretty neat concept. I thought the last level was pretty difficult.... and then I realized you could just speed up the dwarfs so they runs fasters than the dragons can hit them ;)

Need more deep: Donut cover by Kurakurture 2021-04-26T21:52:45Z

I played through this game quite a few times since it was short, I really like the goblin art :)

A problem I had was that it was too easy to accidentally skip most of the game if you jump and fall past everything, perhaps there just needed to be a few more ledges to catch your fall? However, I like to think I hold the speedrun world record of your game now ;) Also I fell completely out of the world to my doom once, which was pretty sad

Despair by blaster391 2021-04-26T22:40:39Z

@thegreenworm changing the bullets isn't a bad idea - originally all bullets could damage everything, but that was absolute chaos so I changed it, never thought of changing the art too.

The powerups do have some consistency to them (although I'm keeping the exact mechanics a secret  ), however I will admit that it may have been ambitious of me to assume that players would figure out what the different colours mean in such a short game.

Despair by blaster391 2021-04-29T07:13:09Z

@billnotic @saintchristopher777 I think that I struggled to find a nice balance where the base movement speed felt good but the speed powerup was still useful, definitely something to consider next time!

Despair by blaster391 2021-04-29T07:18:53Z

@brad-make-games I wasn't too happy with the enemy pop in either, initially I only wanted ghosts to spawn like that, but time constraints meant I didn't get chance to make a different spawn mechanism.

Glad you enjoyed the music though! I'm really proud of it

AeroCat by W0oly 2021-04-26T22:16:07Z

This game is ludicrously beautiful, the visual style and music go together perfectly. The movement is very fluid and after a few attempts felt easy to control. I managed to get quite far through the second stage (how many are there?), but then I was unfortunately killed as multiple objects lined up almost perfectly to block my path. I would be nice to restrict the restart game button to a single key, as I accidentally restarted the game instantly when I wanted to see my high score.

Flying Fred by Cataractar 2021-04-28T20:23:16Z

The gliding mechanic felt really smooth and intuitive, it took me a few attempts to realize that I needed to catch the drones to get power, but after I figured out what to do I think I got quite a high score

Fever Dream by RAFFE 2021-04-28T20:57:59Z

Beautiful game, so many cool graphical effects, my personal favourite being all the floating equations, very creative. My best time was around 3:45, I died once during the second section so I'm sure I can improve!

ChronorhC by NikorasuChan 2021-04-26T15:05:09Z

This is an awesome concept, really polished little game. Timing jumps so you land on yourself is really satisfying. I did find some of the later levels quite easy once I'd gotten used to the mechanics, but I guess the only real problem with this game is that there wasn't more of if!

Just as a heads up I have found a bug where you can knock yourself through the floor if past you sits on future you. Not too much of a problem since you can restart instantly (and I'd failed the puzzle at that point) Chronohc.PNG

Bulldozer By The Sea by eldogg 2021-04-28T19:29:35Z

Wink! by KP_CFTSZ 2021-04-28T20:15:23Z

This was very funny, the first folder I recognised really caught me by surprise! Very stylish little game :)

Deeper and deeper by Arturian5 2021-04-26T21:22:49Z

A really fun take on the theme, I really liked the graphics and how everything slowly escalates. Pathfinding is a little wonky but can't complain given the time constraints

New Horizons by Noctuaris12 2021-04-28T21:22:28Z

The 2.5d style mixed with the pixel art graphics were really nice! It's a shame you didn't manage to finish it, I'm interested to see where it was going. The only improvement would have been the ability to speed up the text, as often I would finish reading and have to wait an awkwardly long time for the next bit of text

Also Tom N, I see what you did there ;)

Catlantis by fabula_rasa 2021-04-28T20:04:32Z

Loved the art and ambience of this game, the lighting around the plants as you get lower is really cool :)

My only complaint would be that the escorting the gems was a bit slow

ONI by Daniel Whittaker 2021-04-27T19:50:19Z

The tone of this game is brilliant, I really liked the contrast between the different areas... even if my inability to read meant I got stuck for a long time

The Ancient Key by jaybaus 2021-04-26T14:42:09Z

A masterpiece of 4th wall breaking humour

How Low Can you Go by SaeedPrez 2021-04-26T22:30:41Z

I really like the bubble trail effect on the weapon projectiles.

The core loop was pretty fun, however the difficulty didn't appear to ramp up all that much (I made it to about 230m before I stopped). It would be cool to have more or faster sharks as you get lower :)

Amogus by Andrey Ovchinnikov 2021-04-26T21:29:29Z

The spikes in a floor are quite unforgiving, but once you get the hang of it the game is quite engaging. The lighting is really nice too :)

My highest score was 60, I have no idea how good that is

Monster in the Deep by chuckie 2021-04-28T19:39:47Z

Love the resident evil cameras, this is a really polished entry :)

Hyperspace Narwhale by styrofoamwaffle 2021-04-28T20:39:13Z

I really liked the narwhale art and how the texture moved as it bobbed up and down. The lazer effect was awesome!

FYI I think the players score doesn't reset after you die. Not sure if it's a bug or a feature

R.O.B.t. by AhSpike 2021-04-26T22:04:16Z

Game looks really nice, framerate is a bit choppy at times however.

The audio is amazing though, it made the robot feel very heavy and really added to the mood of the game

R.O.B.t. by AhSpike 2021-04-26T22:21:52Z

Swapping from default to low settings made my framerate go from around 30fps to over 400! This visual quality didn't look too bad although the number of reflections were reduced, so I assume that is what's taking all the resources.

For reference I'm running in 2K resolution

SEXY BOOBY 95 by silkworm_sweatshop 2021-10-05T20:51:32Z

That was one sexy booby.

Very funny and packed with small details, like an entire game within the game!

Day Broken by UglySwedishFish 2021-10-05T20:44:19Z

This is one good looking game! The custom engine is very impressive.

My only complaint is that it would be nice to skip the intro voice lines on the second playthrough after a restart

Unbalanced by archfan7411 2021-10-05T20:33:01Z

I went for around a minute trying to keep as much as possible on the seesaw, I didn't realize only I had to survive. Simple but fun!

Very atmospheric, I loved the audio!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Kaboomer! by 0x01F0 2022-10-20T19:57:25Z

I thought the game looked very polished and played quite well. My only criticism is probably due to the theme, after I figured out the controls I found it was very easy as the difficulty never increased and I could get into a rhythm of just yeeting bombs out of windows.

House Hitman by adjo 2022-10-20T21:08:53Z

Really impressively balanced for procedural generation - I played it a couple times to see the differences, each time I completely the last level with just a fraction of time left!

And of course anything vaguely like Hotline Miami is great in my books :)

SVET by HellSquirrel 2022-10-20T21:36:07Z

This really is like whenever I step outside in the countryside

I really like the effect of the lighthouse, it's a novel take on the theme and level design issues aside I could see this being a level in a larger video game experience.

game.exe has crashed by cremmy 2022-10-20T21:43:34Z

ImGui my beloved <3

It took me until the second attempt to realize I shouldn't shoot the debug windows, very simple game but also kinda fun

Gun Dude by blaster391 2022-10-04T13:02:17Z

@benhumphries I respect the attempt to play using trackpad, it's like playing the game on hard mode

@somecodingguy HTML 5 version is coming, I just need some time to sort out some issues with the scoreboard not working. Hopefully will get one out in the next few days.

@ale thanks! I love really hard shooters like Hotline Miami so I wanted to emulate that style a bit. Damage is hitbox based, headshots are two shot kills, however neck shots kill instantly, my idea was it would essentially act as critical hits while still being kind of skill based.

@thedashdude initially thrown weapons did the same damage as regular shots, however that resulted in throws being high risk and low reward and not very fun. I did want to bring more presence to the timer (maybe make levels where it is more difficult to reach the enemies in time, and add some audio flare as the timer runs out) but just ran out of time myself near the end.

Radar by bbaf 2022-10-20T20:36:00Z

Very atmospheric, the visuals and audio came together nicely

Time Rift by AustinJones 2022-10-05T20:35:45Z

This is a really polished entry, very cool! I loved the clock face as the level stage, my only minor feedback would be to add more indication when you take damage, as often I would die without realising I had taken so much damage

Relentless by JPatrick 2022-10-20T20:54:08Z

I enjoyed this! The flamethrower was of course the weapon of choice, the only improvement I would make is add some sound, but as a one person entry this is really great!

Police Arrive Every 10 Seconds by ManTou 2022-10-20T20:27:18Z

The music absolutely got me in the mood to rob some banks, I actually got sucked into playing this for a good 20 minutes in one run, until I managed to open and steal every safe in one go. Excellent entry

Dice Against Time by Rowdy3 2022-10-05T22:10:36Z

A very polished entry! Visually it looks like a finished product which is a great accomplishment in 72 hours. It took a couple of runs to really understand the choices I was making, but I found the experience engaging throughout.

It would be great to have more options available as the game progresses, maybe making the consumable dice re-rolls permanent? As many levels I ended up just having no options and would hope to get lucky.

Waves by RiptideStudio 2022-10-05T21:13:05Z

Wow this game is maybe one of the best looking Ludum games I've ever played, this is genuinely a very impressive art style and it works perfectly with the theme, the atmosphere is fantastic. At the start I found it very disorientating but it was surprising how quickly you get used to the very unique way of exploring the world.

When The Night Comes by Frogravity 2022-10-20T21:02:26Z

Poor caretakers don't get any rest!

Nice and atmospheric, and quite intense at later levels when there are so many beds. The minimap was an absolute life saver

ANIMAL HOLE by ben_throop 2022-10-03T21:39:46Z

Very funny! I love that the voices are randomised making it a truly dynamic soundtrack.

Trainz by aligator 2022-10-05T20:44:35Z

I got 21 points! I got into a good groove but then was thrown off by the orange trains. I liked figuring out the most easy to manage patterns, then having to adapt as the new train types came in.

The audio was very funny too!

Do it slowly by epeachyband 2022-10-20T20:46:37Z

Certainly the most polished main menu I've ever seen in a jam, and wow that game was intense... maybe a little too fast for the Unity physics engine sometimes ;)

I had fun, I liked that a lot of levels were more like puzzles than pure platformers

Hurry Up! by niki4u 2022-10-20T21:16:41Z

Like the others side, unsure if there is more after the second level, if so I would love to play it!

Game 0 by I wrote it myself 2022-10-05T21:39:48Z

This game is a great piece of art! I loved the slow realisation as you back out of the games, and the twist at the end still caught me off guard

Kitten Sittin' by Theo Hussey 2022-10-05T20:21:27Z

This game was a lot more stressful than I thought it would be! I enjoyed the concept but I found that everything moved a bit too quick for me, I couldn't find enough food to keep my kitties alive :c

A Song of Red and Blue (and Green) by Squarefox 2022-10-20T21:24:09Z

Raytracing is looking really cool! Looking at the source it looks like you made everything from scratch for this jam which is seriously impressive.

Cheating Husband by Sailors 2022-10-05T20:58:57Z

I love these kind of unique puzzle games, piecing together bits of information from all over the computer was interesting... even if I was wrong  It would be very cool to see an expanded version of this with even more options to explore!

My only criticism is that it felt like it didn't really fit with the theme, the 10 seconds to check the text messages didn't really hinder you as you could just keep reopening them.

LD55 — Summoning

Bug Life by Human 2024-04-16T13:21:15Z

I really like the style of this game, all the art comes together well which is seriously impressive for a 3d jam game! It took me a little while to figure out I could use the wasp to fly and hit the flying enemies, but combat felt satisfying. It was a little awkward trying to hit enemies when they were up the hill though, maybe the ant needs to be able to jump

i can be ur angle or yuor devil by Anthony Katona 2024-04-16T14:16:08Z

Well that was some kind of fever dream  I had fun though!

As you mentioned in the description, an indicator for when the angel is ready would be good, as I would run away spamming the button  Other improvements I would make would be to let you walk through the angel, as I died a couple times because I spawned the angel infront of me and trapped myself! (Although maybe that's just a skill issue on my part)

Initiation by m0zrat 2024-04-16T14:04:28Z

I was surprised by the controls initially, as it wasn't the typical WASD, but once I got the hang of it I found it added so much more tension. The inability to strafe preventing you from seeing what is around you makes you feel very claustrophobic - not knowing if the demon is right behind you. The musical flair when the demon is summoned makes it even more intense.

The AI was cool and watching the others run around behaving like you was very immersive, but it was frustrating seeing them run through walls to steal coins before you!

The Unholy Rise Of Catthulhu by Nishikku 2024-04-16T20:04:32Z

Really great and cute graphics, I love all the characters! As other have said, this is a very hard game  I think it was most frustrating that sometimes the cats would stop targeting the furthest along enemy and just let them wander past

The Salmoning by villhest 2024-04-16T15:14:57Z

It is very satisfying to zoom along the river! The ambience is perfect, after seeing the mention of jumping in the other comments I went back to try it, I loved the brief birdsong you hear as you sail across the water

Idea Catcher——Summoning Tools by DrgCandle 2024-04-16T13:47:51Z

It's amazing how much content is here for a jam, it's like a complete puzzle game! The style is fantastic, the way it slowly introduces new puzzle pieces was very smart. Really great game!

Also the cat is super cute!

Amareica by Marin Davys 2024-04-16T15:07:23Z

This is one of the most unique game jam entries I think I've ever played. The art direction is incredible, combined with the audio leaving you with a constant sense of unease. Progressing further through the races and witnessing each strange twist was a delight (if not a little terrifying). I was actually disappointed when I reached the end. Really amazing job.

...I made a profit, but in the end I'm not sure whether that mattered
