LD45 — Start with nothing

Meet Meow by Kappa.B 2019-10-20T13:39:42Z

Hey, just to let you know I’ve been making Ludum Dare 45 gameplay videos and I’ve put your game in my video! You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/S9nZaGbYfVE

I loved your game, super innovative mechanic and Meow is super adorable, especially on level 3, just wanted to snuggle uo in that blanket with him 😂

Paint Rush by Ekilibr 2019-10-16T13:20:20Z

Had such great fun playing this game! Having the colour of the rainbow splash across the screen when I throw an enemy reminds me of a mix between Splatoon and Mortal Kombat, I love it! Great juice, even though I feel like it could've done with a mini tutorial as I wouldn't have known how to play if it wasn't for the description. Great job, keep it up!

I Have Nothing - If I don't take from you! by Imphenzia 2019-10-08T15:54:11Z

Movement was a little slow compared to the animation speed, but love the fact the character travels to the mouse position, rather than using W,A,S,D. Aesthetics is great, reminds me of 60 Seconds, meets Superhot, great job!

The Journey with Her by cirno 2019-10-09T15:46:57Z

Very good puzzle game, could quite easily sit here and play it for hours, it really rattles my brain, great job! Love the 8-bit art style and music and am super glad there is an undo button!

Unlock Everything by DDRKirbyISQ 2019-10-16T13:12:48Z

Art and audio are super themeatic with each other, very aesthetically pleasing! Great job with connecting it with the theme of the jam too, can see this game getting big! Only critisism is maybe to change the font as "m" in a word looks like an "n" and it can be a little hard to read sometimes. Overall great game, super juicy and fun narrative!

Nothing to Say by celia14 2019-10-10T14:29:04Z

Great game, I didn't feel punished when I had to start over and the art style/ mechanic reminds me of Florence on the App Store, great job!

One And All by burnedkirby 2019-10-09T15:42:22Z

Nice audio decisions. It's giving me a joyful version of Stanley Parable vibe. Super playful and and really fun to play. Great job! Would love to know how you did the text typing on the screen, it's a tool I've always wanted to learn. Great game!

Liam Dehaudt's EPIC Life Simulator by pokenoufl 2019-10-09T15:31:58Z

Second line in and it already made me chuckle with some of the whitty lines. WOuld be nice if the game was a little more fast paced, as I felt like I wasn't going anywhere fast. Love the graphics however, and very themeatic! Great job!

Gifts Of Fate by dcrdro 2019-10-28T22:46:05Z

Great idea and I'd love to see this mechanic explored some more, as well the art just a smidge, other than that this is a great game! Can quite easily see this being an addictive game!

The Greatest Game in the World by AhmenX 2019-10-25T15:09:29Z

I was left speechless, this game reminds me A LOT of Stanley Parabe, but with a lot more humour in the narration. Only critique is that may tell the player they can use the mouse in the code on the computer as I couldn't quite figure out how to change the code around and possibly run a smidge faster. Other than that, I had a great time! Well done!

I Will Survive by Lepletier 2019-10-11T12:42:57Z

Great job! It was a little short, but animations were great and very suited to this year's theme! Would love to see this blossom into a bigger game!

#000000 by kevinworkman 2019-10-15T13:38:17Z

Super interesting mechanic and super innovative! Would love to have heard some kind of audio as my only critism, but other than that your comment section is probabaly the most satisfying on this website right now xD (May have downloaded my gradient as a large, but either way you made a great little game!)

Game from the Void by Cole and Jordan Studios 2019-10-28T22:48:59Z

Great job with the subtitles, most games I've played that have dialogue haven't included subtitles so great job with that! It definatley gives me some Stanley Parabe vibes, much like Alphish said! Maybe explore the shooting mechanic to the player as it wasn't clearly explained when it came to the boss fight, but other than that this was a great game!

Untitled Ghost Game by mgoadric 2019-10-08T15:02:21Z

Cute little ghost game, would love to see some animation and a little more juice to liven up the game.

Revelator by gamesplusjames 2019-10-23T16:05:41Z

Bloomin' great game! Absolutley loved this! Could quite easily see this game in an arcade machine on Brighton Pier, only critique is that it was too short, would love to have played more of this game! Very clever popping in a nostalgia factor with some of the images, put a smile on my face!

Island of the Coconut Spirit by candlesan 2019-10-11T13:06:08Z

Love the concept, this is such great fun! Music suits the game really well and doens't become annoying. This could be such a great little world builder if you decide to go furture with it! Could quite happily sit here and play this game for hours! Great job! My only critique is that I wish I could zoom out with the scroll wheel.

Big Tomato by Jakob Willforss 2019-10-09T17:04:52Z

Fun little game that suddenly turned into utter chaos and I loved it! Graphics were consistant thoughout which is always a nice touch, audio was a little off as it sounded more like a dog barking then a man shouting. Could'nt find the shovel when the diggers started to arrive, but movement was smooth. Also noticed the secret sabotage of the lady selling the seeds, she is also driving the tractors, what a tomato traitor!

Unwatered by bazld 2019-10-07T20:29:56Z

Adorable cute game! I'm a sucker for good at work and love you way you've made the water droplets flow, interested to know how you accomplished that!

Three Little Pigs by Anne Ogborn 2019-10-09T16:03:57Z

Fun game but quite laggy in the HTML version, especially when draw more than one house at a time. Good audio sound effects, but maybe spawn the houses right after they are being drawn would help the game move faster.

Bereshit by p-r 2019-10-09T17:51:42Z

Wasn't too sure how to play the game, however it was very pretty and fun just to spawn in the asteroids and stars and have the camera shake and hear the rumble. Nice banner!

Wirm by bar0net 2019-10-07T20:38:50Z

Cute animations, love the idea of gaining abilities as you progress, however my 'N' and 'W' button wasn't registering in the game so I wasn't able o progress through the rest of the game. Worm has some sassy character!

Higher Desire by ColeSlaughter 2019-10-09T15:52:38Z

Great graphics and interesting idea of combining two games into one. Love the fact I had to concentrate on breathing, as well as shooting the temptations.

private void Start() by LuckyFeathers 2019-10-19T16:18:52Z

Great game! I'm not the worlds best speed typer, but managed to beat my score on the second time round! Loved the effect that happened when I went insane, as well as the dance moves I pulled when the jukebox was on! Really hope those moves were based off real life as they're ace! Great job!

Vicious Cycle by ryzy27 2019-10-15T17:47:21Z

Audios and visuals were great, the scene with the knight was my favourite! However, some scenes were a little difficult to understand what was going on, such as the flying car and the chemstry class. Other than that, loved the journey you put me through!

2 Shoes by LJFMX 2019-10-19T15:01:42Z

Great little game, well done team! It took me a few tries to figure out what the controls were at first, but after the third go I managed to get quite the high score! Audio and visuals were great, had no idea how the eye patch man related to the world, but I found him funny either way!

I'm H_Media on the leaderboard!

Totally Safe Space Systems by Tim Eriksen 2019-10-29T14:09:36Z

Great game! Was challenging, but kept me hooked! Would love to see this be more developed as I can see it being a great game! Brilliant idea of having a unique save system for every player, haven't seen that in any other submission so far, wonderful job!

Nothing by Bocodillo 2019-10-10T16:02:06Z

Fun little game! Super grovy music when the button is unlocked, really loved playing this, it's like unlocking a new world the more more you play, great game! Would love to see an extra thing to unlock called "particle effect", like a little rain effect. I could quite easily see this game being endless!

Bob the Brawler by itsdanidre 2019-10-25T15:58:39Z

Great little arcade game, I had so much fun playing it! The icon for where the player would be punching helped out with what enemy I was hitting. Started to get pretty overwhlming after 130,000, but I had fun nonetheless! Challenge progressed in a nice curve, art and music blended well together too! Did feel a bit clicky with the spce and mouse button and would loved to have seen some kind of enemy explosion once you defeat them, but that's my only crique. Great job!

TRIGGORE by Lumpy 2019-10-12T23:42:37Z

Great arcade theme! The indication to tell player where zombies are coming in was super helpful! Ammo ran out a little and audio was a smidge load, but other than that I can imagine this being on an arcade machine, like Rampage and Street Fighter! Great job!

Cemetery Sweep by Locomule 2019-10-10T19:18:04Z

Love the audio! Great little puzzle game which isn't too punishing if player lost. Cute little 2D sprites and wasn't too difficult to understand. Great job! Nice way to throw back players by using Scratch rather than Unity, very nostalgic.

BETA Feel Fighters V4 by PoundTheGroundStudios 2019-10-08T15:51:18Z

Could do with a little bit of juice when having the player being hit, but other than that it's visually great! Gameplay is super satisfying!

Meaningless Blob Slaughter by evgenimp 2019-10-08T15:45:36Z

Amazing graphics and greatly paced! Reminds me of Doom, but in a Tomb Raider PS1 graphics kind-of-way, great job!

Come to your senses by MarkoPoloDev 2019-10-12T18:57:58Z

Such an innovative mechanic, moving the world around the player, rather than moving the player (until the moving belt was introduced). Super pretty game and excellent choic in the colour scheme, the bot really pops out with the blue. I gave you a follow of Twitter as I'd love to play more level if you make some more! Great game!

LD45 : We Started With Nothing by Captain Nakou 2019-10-28T22:44:19Z

Great art style, it's simple but super clear that it's a western! Maybe add a tutorial in the beginning to help out the player as it is easy to get a bit stuck.

Pot Luck by Marchmain 2019-10-08T16:02:18Z

Love the art style and the comedic use of a puzzle. Great job on incorporating their hearts when hovering over their portraits. A lot of thought has been put into this game, great job! Wish there was some indication after selecting each delecy as a little indication that some people enjoy the choice, but it's great even without this suggestion!

ReWorld by Firesplash Entertainment 2019-10-23T15:49:13Z

Very challenging game which had me rattling my brain a few times, especially in the 2nd and 4th level as using the key wasn't properly explained and the use of coloured cards to coloured beams didn't seem to corolate properly. Other than than, very cute dragon and audio (when collected) was very immersive and great job with sticking to the theme!

Light Reading by CJGladback 2019-10-19T14:42:49Z

Great game! Was a little overwhelmed with the amount of text that cam eon the screen, but as I was getting through the story it really sucked me in! Would love to have seen some narration for those who don't want to read the text, that way it can also be a bit more accessable. Great job!

BitterSweet by Conroy 2019-10-09T15:24:32Z

Funny little game and very themeatic to the month! The audio caught me surprise when I got tricked, but I love the assets, especially the houses, they're supe quirky! On issues I had were that I didn't realise I recieved candy until I looked at the counter, if there was some kind of user feedback that would have been amazing! Also if I could shop down the grass with my sword, that would be a lovely extra touch. Other than that, a great game!

King of Nothing by notapixelstudio 2019-10-12T18:15:38Z

Loved this game! Super cute bounce on the chess pieces, reminds me of a chill, yet more logical version of Guitar Hero. Only critism would be to add some indication that the player managed to get in time to the beat, other than moving, love me some good player feedback :) Great job!

Sorrow Quest by Adam Saudagar 2019-10-23T14:48:10Z

Super fun game! Music and graphics were neat, having this game be turned based was a good choice, though I feel that the inputs could've been a little faster so if you were going down an empty hallway it could be quicker. Other than that, you guys made a great game!

Small Town by XCVZXC 2019-10-23T18:44:26Z

Great idea combining two great game mechanics together! Audio and visuals were very suiting to the game, however would've loved there to be a destory or an undo button as if I clicked on the wrong thing to build then I'd have to put it down, rather than selecting something different. Managed to get to level 22 just to see how hard it got, you made a great game!

The Runner by Attala 2019-10-10T18:47:02Z

Good randition of rock paper scissors, but was a little confused going from right to left and how the game is connected to the theme, but other than that, great solo game!

Stickman Get Stuff by Barrier 2019-10-09T17:19:26Z

The evil clouds kept killing me! Art is themeatic throughout the game and overall very solid game for the theme, great job! Super silly and turns out nature real does hate me xD

Flow by Frank Gevaerts 2019-10-10T13:48:28Z

Don't usually plan text based games, but this is great! Reading the dialouge made me think of the movie Journey to the Center of the Earth, well done!

Det Race by BetelgeuseMan 2019-10-09T15:37:21Z

Cute little car game! Love how the playerr was thrown into the game immediately, but it wasn't overrwhelming. Great graphics but I feel the UI could have been touched up a bit to match visual theme and maybe have a longer background track as the song can become tedious after a while.

The Life Spirit by Cobear25 2019-10-09T17:12:39Z

Lots of fun playing this game! WOuld have loved some kind of second chance, rather than immediately being wiped out, but the artwork is charming and the audio clips are super appropiate, great job!

The beginning of the end by Thomas_Bringer 2019-10-28T22:42:15Z

Controls were a bit weird to get used to, usually it's one button at a time, but it's nice to see those boundries being broken! The art style reminds me of In a Nutshell and such a great idea of changing the audio track everytime the player unlocks a new part of the world! Only critique is maybe have the text show up with the beginning of the sentence, rather than the end, it got a little hard to read sometimes. Loved this game!

VaultSmith by DigitalLimestone 2019-10-10T19:07:53Z

Great audio and animation, was a bit challenging in the beginning as it's perma-death so maybe tone it done. Other than that, great submission

Faze by Xenoxygene 2019-10-25T13:40:30Z

Great idea using the game walls to navigate round the map, such a great twist on the gameplay. Loved the artwork, it was consistant throughout and audio suited the game very well, the arrow definitely helped with navigating around the world so that was a nice little touch! Great job!

Detective Pawsome by Instafluff 2019-10-12T18:34:32Z

Super intense but super funny! Feel like I learnt a lot on my journey through the game as I had no idea r was 50 in roman numerial! Great music and even without the background, I can imagine the graphics being some kind of background for a vapor wave themed lofi video! Only critique is that it became very tempted to just spam buttons if I didn't understand the clues, other than that, this a brilliant game!

Detective Pawsome by Instafluff 2019-10-19T16:20:37Z

SHPLAT by Isvan 2019-10-09T17:35:58Z

Such a clever idea adding the tutorial as part of start screen, super innovative! Movement is smooth and easy to control, though maybe it could be a little more slidy as it is a slime ball. Cute colour scheme and consistant art throughout! Reminds me of a game I made a while back called Adventure Slime. You made a great game, well done!

Can't move while in the air, maybe add a little movement so it's easier to jump to platforms.

Blank Slate by PixelMeal 2019-10-10T19:28:14Z

Great assets, the visuals remind me of The Witness, especially those cube trees, they're like bonsai trees that even game devs can look after. Definitely got my brain thinking, wasn't frustrating at all!

Nothing is my car ! by T-Bo 2019-10-15T17:41:07Z

Managed to get to 8112 on my first go! Was a little hard to read the text of the car parts incoming, as well as where they were on the car, but other than that this was a fun game! It reminded me a lot of Crazt Taxi, but with nice music and cool 3D assets. It was a nice touch having the driver wave to the player in the beginning, makes it more inviting to play.

Scrap Spaceship by Nisovin 2019-10-09T16:39:04Z

What a great idea! Have the maeterials become darker when they got hit is great user feedback, i knew when a part was geeting damaged and it was super helpful. Even the building experience in the beginning was super fun, felt like Spore but an actual working version that was fun!

Dreamscaping by Kirbloid 2019-10-09T17:25:33Z

Wasn't aware that I had to put the orbs together to create dreams and nightmares the first time I played and 'Esc' automatically goes to end screen, maybe it would be nice to have that as an option is 'Esc' was clicked. Visuals were great and the game other all was very aesthetically pleasing, great job! Gives me a less creepy Binding of Issac vibe.

Nix by slagathor 2019-10-07T20:12:58Z

Movement felt super smooth so super good job with that! Enemies are a little hard to aim for, but had fun collecting orbs and attempting to shoot them none the less!

TidePool by Rebecca Harrison 2019-10-10T18:52:19Z

Great game! Movement could've been a smidge smoother, but other than that what great graphics! I may have been sent from a certain sea shell maker

HONK by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2019-10-07T20:33:20Z

Technically you start with no points and work your way up the score board and it reminds me a bit of BroForce! Great shooter!

Spooktober Survival by LeBossMax2 2019-10-09T16:49:18Z

Great little shooter game, love the theme to the month, great job! In the beginning when I picked up the skull I gained it's powers, I'd love to see other power ups I could pick up on the way. Maybe adding an indication for the player when they get hit, other than the health going down so there's an immediate connection that the player is taking damage. (In game ,"Enemies" is spelt wrong)

Love the graphics, especially the pumpkins, I'd happily have a plushie of one of them if you ever produced them!

Golden Retriever by Gone3001 2019-10-07T20:17:39Z

Doggo is super cute, can easily see this being a calm indie game if it was made much larger. Background audio was a little repetitive after playing the game for a while. Great game none the less!

POLYMON by PIXAMENTORY 2019-10-08T15:42:22Z

Super difficult but quite fun. Was a little challenging trying to figure out where I was going to land, the shadows helped figuring out my position compared to the enemies, but something showing where I was to their perspective would have been nice. Great assets also!

Start With Rain by Piturnah 2019-10-10T13:17:56Z

Cute little clicker, the art style gives me a Shovel Knight vibe! Very clear about how to play, even without needing a tutorial, great game design! Love the fact I'm able to have it running in the background and not have to worry about constantly paying attention. Very well balanced!

@nachtwitch Thanks for compliments! The hit detection only works when the pinks circles are clicked on, so mouse click won't work when clicked on anything but the enemies. If there is an issue other than that, please let me know!

@artyom-volkov Thanks you! I had a particle effect on the player originally and I can't believe I took it out for the final version. Will keep your comment in mind when making my next game!

@pixamentory Thanks, I was going for that idea. I was inspired my Asteroids, as well as a quick arcade game my friend made that had bloom all over it!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-08T15:56:07Z

@marchmain thank you for the feedback, will definatley add music next time, completely slipped my mind until I saw the audio category.

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-09T10:10:01Z

@cobear25 & @alphaden Thaanks for the comments, I wish I added some audio, if I did it probably would have been some retro arcade shooting noise and some kind of 80s techno in the background. Next time I'll add some audio for sure! :)

@barrier Thank you for the feedback, a local player mamager to get 1120 and he said that his hand needs a rest afterwards and his eyes started watering from all the bloom. It was just a mini university project I was making and I thoight technically you start with 0 points, which is nothing.

@kirbloid Thank you! I have a few ideas to span upon this game, like adding audio, maybe reducing the screen shake on the bullet impact and adding a play field so then the enemies spawning from the top and bottom don't take you by surprise when they turn up.

Thank everyone for playing and voting for my game!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-09T16:05:58Z

@sharkwithlasers 1. Great userrname 2. Thank you! At first I forgot to destroy them after the player death so it did kind of brerak the game, but that's probably one of my favourite parts about my game, adds a little edge to the overwhlming power of the pink circles.

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-09T16:21:52Z

@black-flag I would have loved to add in some audio, I'll definatley add it next next, funnily enough it just slipped my mind until I saw the audio category! The neon graphics are done using the bloom effect, which I got from the asset store, Brackeys has a good tutorial for it! If it helps my highest score is only about 150, turns out I'm not very good at my own game XD

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-09T16:34:21Z

@nisovin I'm sorry about your hand, there are idle games out there that'll help calm the nerves, however if you are tempted the highest score so far is 1105. Thank you for the feedback either way!

@sir-galloy-de-fierpate Love the joke, I should've added some triangle in the mix so there wasn't circle-ism. Glad to hear you enjoyed my game!

@cirno Thank you! I plan to make another version in the future where I plan to add a few features and bring some sound effects into the mix. Glad you liked it!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-09T18:01:15Z

@jakob-willforss The ability to shoot only happens when the player clicks on the pink circles directly, but I'm glad you enjoyed my game!

@lesinvisible I plan to make it progressivly difficult when I got back and change a few things! Can't wait to add sound to it too!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-10T13:13:24Z

@piturnah I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! It does get weirdly hypnotic when playing for a while, but when I come back to it after the game jam finishes I'll add audio and post it on my Twitter

@onury Thank you! I wanted to go simple as I really wanted to incorporate bloom into my game and I feel like detailed characters would get lost with in the glow. I was thinking of adding other enemies that might be harder to click and be a range of colours

@frank-gevaerts If it helps I'm not very good at my own game, I've only got to 150 myself as I'm no MLG, glad to hear you enjoyed it!

@marcin-j Thank you very much, I wanted there to be a nostalgia factor of playing arcade games like Asteroid and Space Invaders as kids.

@bilalch213 Thanks for liking my game! I plan to make another version after the jam with much more bells and whistles, I'll post it on my Twitter when it's done so you can give that a go!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-10T15:21:23Z

@elbidev Thank you! I got inspired by Brackey's bloom tutorial, as well as a mini game my mate made a few weeks ago!

@kazatan Thanks for playing! Sorry for the incovienence of not being compatible for touch pad, I'll take your feedback into consideration when touching up my game after the jam finishes!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-10T18:57:32Z

@digitallimestone Oh no! Thanks for letting me know, it should be changed now! If it doesn't work, just image Tron meets Asteroid, but made in 48 hours by a ameture game dev and that's the game xD

@2-odd-diodes Thank you! I'm so glad that you enjoyed it!

@locomule Thank you so much! Yeah I'd love to add a power-ups where the circles get slower, or even dual shooting when I get back to it after the jam!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-10T19:30:25Z

@coffeedrinkers First of all I love your name! Second, I'd love to make extra enemies especially that have a different speed and/ or size to make it was more playful. Thank you for enjoying my game!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-10T19:33:55Z

@blaster391 I totally understand, I can't believe I forgot the audio, but I will definatley make another version that has 80s arcade sounds in it to really tie it together. Thank you for the tip! I was planning on going to freesound, but knowing that there's a specific place for Ludum Dare I will for sure go check that out!

thank you so much! My friends at university are using it to help their reaction times for their CS:GO games, which is definitely something I wasn't expecting to come out of the game xD

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-10T20:09:15Z

@alexsogge Yeah that sounds like a great idea! I'll try that when I get back to my game after the jam, thanks for the suggestion!

@pedromgdo That's a pretty great score considering I only got to about 150 and I only play the Sims 4 and Fallout Shelter, great job! Thanks for enjoying my game!

@chaosround It was a little game I made on the side which happened to collide with the dates of Ludum Dare and I thought that technically it starts from 0 points and the more you shoot the more points you get, but your conclusion is toitally fair :) Thanks for liking my game!

@candlesan Yeah before I fully submitted I had some local play tester suggest that and I super glad that it payed off, I'm happy you picked up on that! I'm very tempted to make it for mobile, and if I do I'll "shoot" it your way!

@djee I totally agree, will add some music once the jam finishes, but thank you so much for enjoying my game! Turns out I was the only one in my class who entered so I'm feeling pretty proud when folks like you like my game!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-11T23:01:19Z

@imphenzia I didn't get far in the gif, didn't want to ruin the surprise of rushing the player when the circles begin to swarm in ;) Glad to hear you liked my game!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-12T16:49:19Z

@fiwon123 I plan to hopefully make it into an app after the jam, as well as adding in some audio. Thanks for playing my game!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-14T16:46:17Z

@maaya Thank you! I'm glad you had fun playing, it's pretty fun seeing people get a kick out of my game!

@u-tsang-clan It does gradually get more difficult over time, however it does cap out after the first minute or so. After the jam I'll work more on the progressive difficulty, thanks for the feedback!

@kevinworkman I plan to go back to this game after the jam is over and I can't wait to add features like enemies, powerups and especially audio. I'd love for you to play it when I make it, would love for some more feedback!

@hcursino Glad you had fun! Thanks for playing my game!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-19T15:50:28Z

@croewens THe shooting mechanic only worked when the pink circles themselves were clicked (sorry about not being clear on that) and the player should have infinite bullets. I just thought it limits the player from going nuts with the bullets xD

@mgoadric Thanks! I'm glad to see you enjoyed it!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-21T09:47:10Z

@gehad Thanks! I recently learnt how to use Bloom in Unity and I had to put that knowledge to good use! Glad you liked my game!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-23T13:48:56Z

@dcrdro Yeah I can agree with that, it was a game I made on the side within 48 hours, just when Ludum Dare started so I thought I might as well add it in. Glad you enjoyed my game! :)

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-28T22:33:28Z

@mrstari Thank you! I'd love to make something more graphical next time, hopefully with some audio too!

@captain-nakou I'd love to explore this on mobile, I find it fun exploring simple and quirky mechanics and I hope to expand this some more!

@game-mon When the game jam is over I'm going to fully upgrade my audio and some add some funky fresh power ups to make the game extra fun! When I made this, it was timed well with the weekend of LD45 and I thought that I might as well slip it in as the player technically starts from 0. Glad to hear you liked it!

@cole-and-jordan-studios It was my first time exploring bloom and I'm super glad it paid off, next time you play imagine an 80s arcade backing track with some asteroid-inspired shoot sounds and that'll hopefully be the audio in the next update!

Colour Shot by HumphreysMedia 2019-10-29T14:07:13Z

@tim-eriksen Thanks! It was my forst time experimenting with Bloom and focusing a lot on juice! I'm so glad I pulled it off!

@shubart I'm glad you liked it, I'm super proud of it!

Ludum Dare Simulator by Marcin J 2019-10-10T13:42:56Z

Before playing it put a smile on my face, art and audio are super lovely. If only making a game was this easy, sure did give me a chuckle! Found a bug with the far right card where it would switch between two cards when doing a mouse over, but other than that, great game! I made it out with a healthy mind!

Leverage by BilalCh213 2019-10-10T13:31:04Z

Great way of telling the player what to click, tutorial was very clear. I thought I finished the game as I didn't realise there was a stitch turned off, maybe add some kind of indicator showing that they've been turned off. Nice particle effects on the blobs when destoryed and great idea of having them turn into mines, that really helped with getting a mini kill streak. Oh and maybe the arrows for each level be in the same spot, it was a little jarring having to move the mouse to a different position to do the same control. Art and audio were great, well done!

Island Survivor by TC5550 2019-10-08T15:05:31Z

Very themeatic and love the art style. There are a few bugs, but great sumission!

Jack with Nothing by QuanMao 2019-10-08T14:54:24Z

Great artwork! The characters themselves look great! Maybe the boss health bars could be more stylised to the artwork, but other than that, it was a lovely game to play!

SpaceDrifter 4500 by SharkWithLasers 2019-10-09T16:17:29Z

Great job! Love the final design of 3D assets in a 2D game, made the asteroids and stars seem that little more real. Ship, however, does slow down rapidly when changing a direction, so maybe speed that up a smidge, other than that, great game!

Minno by --0 2019-10-15T13:27:54Z

Fun little puzzle game, reminds me of a jigsaw puzzle meets Tetris, great job! Audio doesn't get annoying either! Definitely had to put my brain to work with this one!

DREAMS by Ferdi 2019-10-08T14:58:11Z

Super hypnotic, love the low poly style. Maybe add a little bit of audio to completely trance people.

Hellion: The Legend of Jeff by Mad Brokli 2019-10-24T12:35:37Z

Great game! Took a while to build up the resources, but when I finally got to a point when I could build something the game go pretty exciting! The build up the resources did take a while, so maybe balance that out a bit and maybe lerp the camera to the player a little quicker. Great game nonetheless! Graphics and audio were great, reminded me of BlackThornProd and the screams made me giggle.

My Hope by fiwon123 2019-10-25T15:25:05Z

Character, enemies and staff was all draw great, just feel that the background and level couldn've matched them to keep the art consistant. Easy to play so very accessable to others, didn't overwhelm me. Maybe tell the player that holding space bar makes them jump higher, goa little stuck until seeing the comment from @antti-haavikko

Great game nonetheless!

Tom is Lonely by pedromgdo 2019-10-11T12:40:16Z

Super challenging, but super fun! Even though the grpahics are simple, they work really well and gives it an arcade feel, especially with the addition of sound, great job!

Forbidden Fruit by OnurY 2019-10-09T17:45:11Z

What a surprise at the beginning, nice way to add in memes when no one expects it, however it did crash the first time I grabbed the apple, nothing happened I was just looking at a tree. Managed to get past angry Hitler, but Dracula was super difficult! Art style was consistant throughout, great job!

Planet Zero by benjames171 2019-10-09T16:10:04Z

Love the nostalgia feel of old arcade platformers, almost feels like Shovel Knight, but with just throwing rocks, rather than using shovel powers. Nice touch with all the assets, audio and even having the rock bounce around. It was nice to just throw the rock to see where it lands. Great job!

JO-KEN-DO! by Hcursino 2019-10-15T13:43:13Z

Very funny game! Only critque would be that it would be nice to have the rock, paper, scissors logo on the screen so the player knows what to click when the enemy chooses their moves. Other than that, great game!

Wanderings of a High School Boy by 2 Odd Diodes 2019-10-10T19:10:50Z

Super great artowrk! The main protagonist reminds me of a gloomy version of Kinro from Dr.Stone when he has Suika's melon hat on. Maybe speed up the walking a tiny smidge, but other than that you made a great game I enjoyed!

Deadly Blobs by DeadTom 2019-10-07T21:08:35Z

Very funny intro, love the consistancy of art and the effort of making a background! Super difficult and can be very addictive, was funny just watching the blobs slowly get closer to me after death. Only bad thing is that there's no map walls so it was easy to get off track. Other than than, great game!

LEGS by moechen 2019-10-10T14:25:03Z

Artwork and music was cute, but creepy, but it a good way! Was a little confused about how to start the game at first, but other than that great job! Love the subtle sprite flip animation when the eye ball changes direction.

Gun Fury by Gehad 2019-10-25T15:36:15Z

Fun little game which I can quite see being in an arcade machine or a mobile game! Mechanic and audio were so great the assets didn't need to be drawn out, if anything it helped to add to the arcade feel! Would loved to have seen some power ups throughout the game that enemies would drop, such as heath or extra bullets.

click4cats by spacey3d 2019-10-08T15:10:15Z

Amazing! Super simple but super fun! I love it! Put an instant smile on my face when I started clicking for cats! Only critism would be to maybe add some juice, like a little screen shake when the cats collide or a little particle effect when the mouse is clicked.

click4cats by spacey3d 2019-10-19T16:20:25Z

In the beginning by djee 2019-10-11T14:17:13Z

Great movement in the game, I did accidentally eat all the shrink and grow abilities in the 4th level, so a reset button would be highly appriciated. Other than than great audio and good link to the theme!

Grow Your Own Way by Shunt 2019-10-07T20:55:43Z

Too much text in the beginning was a bit overrwhelming and wasn't particularly clear how to play

After scrapping by Alexsogge 2019-10-11T12:37:48Z

Movement was a little slow at first but it appeared to speed up once the arm was attached, feel like the camera could have been zoomed out much further or have a mini map telling the player where to go. Other than that, it was very appropiate to the theme and robot was super adorable! Love his little idle state of rocking side to side with his face in the dirt, great game!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Something Magical by wasd 2020-04-21T16:21:26Z

Visually breathtaking game and love the fact the whole art style was constant, the only thing I would change visually is the font as I feel like it doesn't match the aesthetics of the rest of the game. Such a positive feeling playing this game and half of the fun was just standing still and holding down space to see what happens, the addition of the occasional squirrel definitely helped to maintain an alive forest, can't wait to see this be endless, despite the lovely screen at the end. Maybe add another background song as well as I found myself playing this game for a while and I noticed the same beats repeating and could potentially become repetitive. Well done, awesome job!

Screenshot (75).png

The Last Primpy by gamesplusjames 2020-04-21T16:45:21Z

Screenshot (77).png

What an opening! Love Scrimpy, he's an adorable character! You game is visually great and would love to play this with an actual mouse, rather than a mouse pad. Only critique is that I'd love to constantly be able to move as once I start propelling forwards I can't move my mouse and makes me feel that movement is limited. Great audio, really immersed me and great choice of space colours. I also loved seeing your progress through Twitter, loved the final result.

Horny Rhino by Hozoku 2020-04-21T18:51:34Z

Super simple mechanic, but it has to be one of the funniest and funniest games I've played so far! Despite the humour, I love the fact that there's an important message behind this game. This would be great for one of those machines in arcades where you hold plastic guns and aim, who needs zombies and warzones when you've got horny rhinos! Great art style, it was all super constant and super pretty, great job!

Prometheus by Shapkofil 2020-04-21T15:58:46Z

Interesting game and enjoyed the fact that it was an endless loop of platforms and enemies, however I was a little lost on the objective. I wasn't too sure how to win or get to the final object and the enemies didn't seem that much of a threat when I could out run them and fall into an endless void, also would be better if the inputs for shooting were next to each other as I found it a little awkward to click q and f. Art and sound effects gave it a funny edge which I enjoyed, would love to have seen a little more consistency with that as well, but other than that great job!

Wood Walker by Memory of God 2020-04-21T15:47:46Z

Love. Love. Love the graphics and sounds, such a great art style for the player and trees. The UI indicating when to pick up objects was great feedback for the player, as well as the pick up audio and addition of the map so I could remember where I was going. Only criticism is that when I went to go pick up a log while walking the player would slide rather than stopping to pick up the object. Great opening to the game too, immediately immersed me.

Screenshot (70).png

Test-a-ball by JAsonsumm1 2020-04-21T16:05:41Z

FUn little game you made there, adding the facial features to the ball definitely gave it humour especially since they react accordingly to what it happening in the game. Would love to see this game developed further as I managed to reach the top of the levels in the exe file, I managed to get a score of 26. Just a side note, the player can fall into the abyss if they fall off the platform, a couple of invisible walls would fix that right up. Great job!

Feed The Slime by PythooonUser 2020-04-21T18:25:34Z

Funny narration in the beginning, the audio for the slime was the only bit of audio that was jarring. Definatley need to come back and play this game with the right mouse as it's not super accessible with a mouse pad, but it was still fun nonetheless!

LD 46 - Guinea Pug by Notredamstra 2020-04-21T17:48:41Z

Very funny concept and finally a good use of pugs (controversial, I know), but the ragdoll physics really made the game and suited the story, graphics helped it too! Just wish the story was shortened a little as it took a while so get through all the text.

How to Air by kwaku 2020-04-21T17:32:47Z

Love the aesthetics of this game, super cute art style! Was a little confused with what to do and took me a while to understand the objective and what item did what. This game has great potential and I can't wait to see what you do in the future with this game.

Heartbeat by CaptainProton42 2020-04-21T19:04:24Z

Great idea and love the concept, the controls I found a little difficult as sometimes the heart would vary in distance when pulling the same movement. Would have liked to seen where the objective in the second level as I was a little unsure where to go. Art style was lovely and consistent throughout, great job!

A Balloon's Journey by jukrapopk 2020-04-21T17:10:28Z

Really enjoyed the weird physics, made the gameplay more innovative, though I did feel like the difficult was pretty hard, maybe not have the trees being able to pop the balloons would make the difficulty balanced. Great low poly art style.

Germicide by tCubix 2020-04-21T17:55:51Z

Nice tower defense game, but had a real problem with dragging items onto the playing field, made it really difficult to play at some points

Take The Cargo Home by Hello.ST 2020-04-21T18:10:58Z

I loved the art style and for some reason it's giving me old Star Trek vibes, especially with the static. Controls I feel should be a little faster and mapped better as I keep forgetting what keys did certain movements. Great innovative game nonetheless!

Crates N' Gates by HireMeDeveloper 2020-04-21T17:02:38Z

Fun game, but I feel like it needs some balancing as sometimes I'd spawn far away and bleed out too quick, and sometimes I'd never find health. Artstyle was consistent throughout and would love to hear the audio a little bit louder as I could barely hear it. When I bleed out I'd love to see my score as I never knew my score when I lost the game. Great potential!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Core Defense by JCMonkey 2020-10-06T12:14:26Z

If PS1 Space Invaders and Asteroid had a baby it would be this game, loved the retro feel of it and there was a great difficulty curve. There was a very literal sense of being on the theme, but it was a great take, just wished there was a longer sound track as it did get a little bit repetitive at the end.

Thunder Rally by smilewood 2020-10-06T14:37:30Z

Would love to see this game more expanded upon as I felt like I was just waiting around for the upgrades, however the graphics were cute and it was a nice fit to the theme.

Rail Gun by jharler 2020-10-06T17:32:45Z

What a great arcade game, I found it interesting that the player wasn't stuck in a linear loop, but instead could control the movement in the loop. Art work and sound gave off a retro arcade vibe which I enjoyed, the only thing I feel that could be improved is that when I click to shoot, the bullet fires slightly to the right of the cannon, rather than the center. Overall, great game!

Phil Alone by Gabriel Dias Oliveira de Almeida 2020-10-25T19:11:41Z

Really enjoyed the game and the overall design was super cute and remind me of the old Pokemon games! I wasn't able to get all the endings, however I'm definitely going to continue playing this game as I'm rattling my brain to figure out these puzzles, in a good way! Great fit to the theme!

DEMON LOOP by dinosire 2020-10-06T17:40:24Z

Awesome take on the them, the art was cute and consistent throughout! The only critique I'd say is that I was there were more levels. Could definitely see this on something like Miniclip!

Caught in the music loop by merkisoft 2020-10-06T12:38:06Z

Pretty neat game though I was a little confused at the beginning and took me a while to figure out what to do, if there was a bit of feedback telling the player that they completed each level otherwise it feels as if they're cheating when 'N' needs to be pressed. Great take on the game jam theme and quite enjoyed the beats, great job!

Starburn 64 by Warrrkus 2020-10-06T14:34:42Z

Very nostalgic with the N64 graphics, I couldn't get enough of them! The gameplay was a great in the arcade sense, but the perspective throw me off slightly.

Flying Cube by Daddysucc5000 2020-10-06T12:29:24Z

Despite this game being super difficult I had so much fun with this game, it's so addictive. I would recommend adding a forward button as eveytime the level resetes the first speed is a tad too slow, however it does help with understanding the further level. Great level design and I managed to get up to the 5th level!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Aleph Qoph / Duat by ancient-pixel 2021-04-28T09:41:04Z

Great idea on the theme, and the graphics are so nostalgic, it gave a big throw back to old 3D games like Banjo and PS1 Crash Team Racing! I would suggest having a lower sensitivity as it was a little difficult to get used to, but once I got used to it the game play was fine. Great narrative though!

The Squeaky Affair by bmacintosh 2021-04-28T10:05:14Z

Really fun and creative puzzler! I really liked the atmosphere and design! Great work!

The Pit by ehtd 2021-04-28T12:21:24Z

Loved the graphics of this game, it gave me Doom 64 vibes, especially with the over the top sized creatures, I also felt that the music didn't look in a way that it could be annoying. I would love to have seen some feedback for when I shot a bullet, whether that be a bullet or laser come from the player's position. Very fitting to the theme too!

Crawl Deeper by Linus Lindberg 2021-04-28T12:36:34Z

Great concept, and really fits the theme, I'd would have loved to have seem some extra bits such as shadows moving or movement noises to really add the spooky atmosphere and almost make it feel like there was a reason for crawling away, but great submission. Loved the graphics!

Oiligarch by dxk2294 2021-04-28T15:54:54Z

A little overwhelming first with all the UI and information, so I would suggest reducing the amount of information given to the player when they first open the game. But overall, great work and it's very polished!

Synaptic Skater by DraperDanMan 2021-04-28T10:29:24Z

A little hard to control, but I can see where you were heading with it. I'd love to see a polished version, the visuals were pretty cool!

Hellfall by Tom Robson 2021-04-28T16:30:58Z

Love, love, love the aesthetics of this game! From the sounds, to the camera shake, to the animations, it was so satisfying to play! The chase levels were a little intense, so I would maybe suggest to slow the first one down so it doesn't catch the player by surprise, but other than that, this is a brilliant game!

Deep Sea Phishing by Literal Games 2021-04-28T09:37:08Z

Such a nice adaptation of the theme, and it the graphics reminded me of old Metal Gear games with the UI and graininess of the camera, great job!

Crash Lander by AranCutter 2021-04-28T16:23:56Z

Despite dying a lot, and I mean a LOT, I still had a wonderful time playing this game. It's super addictive and well polished! After reading some other comments, I would agree to having an easier mode for player's who might find it a little bit difficult, but other than that this was great game and great fit to the theme!

Psychedelic by SaltFactory Studio 2021-04-28T15:48:45Z

What a visually appealing game! I wasn't able to get to the end, but it was still fun nonetheless and very addictive!I would've loved to have more control in the air as I felt it was a little slow, but still great fun nonetheless! Great job!

Maze Of The Minotaur by PythooonUser 2021-04-28T09:34:16Z

I loved this game, I'm a sucker for low poly aesthetics and this was stunning, especially the horns at the end! Despite finishing this game quite quickly, I had a wonderful time getting lost and figuring out the maze! The only thing I would suggest would be adding subtitles as the monster's voice was a little difficult to understand.

Just a side note, I played 'Feed the Slime' last year and you've been nailing it with each event!

Rocket Fishing by slam0 2021-04-28T09:24:13Z

I love the idea of the game and the overall theme was very chirpy, it reminded me of a 2D version of the fish catching game in Jak & Daxter. Would love to see the improvements slightly to the art/ UI, but it has a nice charm to it! Keep up the great work!

Detective Insider by Fearawl 2021-04-28T10:44:07Z

Nice idea and well executed! It seems there wasn't a way to finish the game after the photo door, but it was still fun to go through! Great job on the style and making so many assets in a short time!

Wonderful game art, it looks stunning! I would say it was a little difficult at first as I wasn't sure how to get fuel, all I knew was to pick up the weapon and shoot enemies, but after playing again I managed to get a couple waves into it! Great job!

The Tourist by Frostfall 2021-04-28T09:18:14Z

@teezah Thank you for the comment, @frostfall did a great job with the narrative and the UI, I'm so glad you liked it!

@pythooonuser I'm glad you enjoyed the ending!

@archie-evans Thanks! We didn't want it to be too long in case players missed the ending or got tired of the environment!

@ancient-pixel Apologies about the performance, that's something I'll have to work on in future project, but I'm glad to see you loved the aesthetics!

@ehtd That's fair enough, we wanted to make it feel like a tour without the tour guide, but I'd recommend reading the last few signs if you want to know what happened with the ending

@c4scar Sorry about the performance issues, I'm planning on optimizing my next project, I guess importing a particle system with 1500 hairs as a forest from Blender wasn't the best of ideas, but you live and you learn! I like the idea of having an easter egg in the forest, I'll have to apply that to the next jam. Thanks for playing!

@linus-lindberg Thank you! The idea was to initially to have more guide notes, but thanks @frostfall the narrative worked perfectly!

@mehul Glad to see you enjoyed it! We just thought that we could have just an ordinary walking simulator, so when and doubt add a twist!

@saltfactory-studio Thank you for the comment, next time I'll try to not add so many trees at once as it was a hair partle system imported from Blender.

@dxk2294 Sorry about the choppy-ness, but I'm glad it didn't take away from the overall experience! The sound effects were all from freesound.com and downloaded some lofi for the background music, I'd love to make a project in the future with original sounds!

@rovernoon Thank you so much for the compliment, I love the visuals of that game and I'm so happy to see that you're comparing us to such a masterpiece!

@zerokun Apologies for the lag and the bright bloom, turns out Unity doesn't like looking at a lot of trees at once, but I'll make sure to optimise it for next time! We're glad to hear the "completely normal" ending gave you a bit of a spook!

@arancutter Thanks for the feedback, I wasn't aware how high the sensitivity was and I usually have sensitivity very high, especially on games, but I'll add an accessibility option for players in my next project. Glad to see you enjoyed our game!

Sun Core by ZeroKun 2021-04-28T16:17:05Z

Such a great 2D platformer, I would've loved to have seen more of a difficulty curve as it increases a little bit too dramatically from level 1 to level 2, but I love the graphics and the 8 bit audio suited the game perfectly, great job!

In Too Deep by diharaw94 2021-04-28T09:57:12Z

Very cool style, I really liked the old fashion vibe it had, wasn't too sure how to 'win' or not get caught, but still a very charming game i'd love to see expanded on :)

DEPTHS OF THE INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX by pierogo 2021-04-28T10:07:01Z

Nice mechanics and visual style! I really liked the vibe you went for, would love to see this expanded on in the future. Great work!

Salvage Quest by Rovernoon 2021-04-28T15:57:50Z

The controls felt really nice and the bombs felt very satisfying. Would lived to have had some more sound and player feedback, especially when aiming a torpedo. Other than that, great submission!

SPERMA by the neon shark 2021-04-28T12:12:50Z

Very fitting to the theme! I managed to make it to the end with one swimmer left, but he wasn't enough, he was a champ! The only thing that I would suggest changing is the duration of the msuci loop as it seemed a bit short and I found it becoming repetitive and the end, that and maybe fixing the turn on the swimmers as I wasn't sure if they were moving in the direction I wanted them to go.

Great colour pallet though and keep up the great work!

Into Conflict by C4Scar 2021-04-28T12:30:28Z

Nice game, could do with some balancing with the mechanics, however it was pretty neat!
