LD30 — Connected Worlds

Sun Saviors by HeuGamer 2014-08-25T17:25:00

Pretty cool. Played lone mode and it got overwhelming pretty quickly! Good job!

GalactiTrader by recursor 2014-08-27T19:24:00

I enjoyed the aesthetics of this game. It was a nice, calm relaxing experience. Well done!

Heart Star by AdventureIslands 2014-08-26T14:37:00

Very impressive! I really have no criticisms. The controls were spot on, the levels were extremely well designed, the graphics and sounds were great. Surprisingly polished for a 48 hour game! Well done.

Shattered by ThatSamu 2014-08-25T21:01:00

This was fun. I was minding my own business, putting planets back together when they started shooting at me! I was all like "hey, I just put you back together, stop that!" Haha, great idea and execution.

Get Set by ryguydavis 2014-08-26T19:35:00

Cool game, although it got difficult quickly. I would have liked to have some audio, even just some sound effects. Overall, nice job.

Hanspaul Holes by Lokiman 2014-08-25T18:22:00

I like this puzzle game. It took me a few tries to figure out what some of the things did, but I had fun. Well done!

Elemental by Aurel Bílý 2014-08-26T21:14:00

I didn't read the directions and at the first battle, I had no idea what to do. I was clicking like mad, haha. Once I figured it out, I was good. Fighting the big guy was tough! Made my fingers sore. Nice entry!

Zoo Hypothesis by NikSG 2014-08-25T15:28:00

It took me a few minutes, but I got humanoid life. Cool concept, but tricky to figure out as a player. Interesting take on the theme and innovative gameplay. Good job!

Cyperspace Connect by Xgor 2014-08-25T14:53:00

Very cool game. I loved the graphics and the audio was fitting. Well done!

Connected Worlds Public Transport Inc. by Xeke_Death 2014-08-26T20:05:00

Pretty cool puzzle mechanic! The numbers were pretty hard to see (I have a big monitor), and it was frustrating to have to clear if you messed up placement of the tunnels, and some audio would have been nice, but other than that, I really enjoyed playing. Well done!

Astro Tycoon by goffmog 2014-09-05T20:09:00

Very cool entry. It's similar in style and function as mine, so definitely right up my alley. What you have is good, but I'd like to see it developed further.

ServerSphereICE by drakfyre 2014-08-25T17:35:00

Pretty cool game. I would recommend making your cube stand out from the background a little more. When using the mouse to look around, it can be tricky to re-orient yourself back to your cube. I really liked the visual effects.

Also want to thank you for your Cooking with Unity YouTube videos. I've learned a lot from them and always enjoy watching.

Please try out my game and let me know what you think!

ConnectTheWorlds by mrexcessive 2014-08-25T16:05:00

It took me a few crashes to figure out what I was doing wrong. After that, I made a couple landings. Interesting take on the theme. Nice job!

NECLiD by 0x0961h 2014-08-26T21:33:00

I like the aesthetics of this game and the puzzle mechanics are pretty cool too. Overall, good job!

Angel or Demon by cmayhem 2014-08-26T20:52:00

I really enjoyed squishing those other little green guys! I found it tricky to control my character though, and a few areas where he had to go off the screen and avoid spikes were really tough.

juxtapose by zillix 2014-08-27T19:22:00

I love the style and mood to this game, although it was tricky trying to figure out what I was supposed to do. Well done!

ORBII by Lars Faust 2014-08-25T18:42:00

Very innovative and well polished game. I love the graphics and the overall feel of the game.

Trade Imperium by Tom Rijnbeek 2014-08-26T14:00:00

Pretty cool concept. I had a cart go offroading though, haha. I'm happy to see a mute option in there, most LD games don't have that and most LD games have annoying and/or repetitive music. Yours wasn't bad, but the option was nice to have.

H.O.C.M.A. by Techblogogy 2014-08-25T14:46:00

Overall, well done. It took me a few minutes to understand what was going on. It does drag on once you get to the point where you're waiting 10+ seconds after each action. I enjoyed the audio at first, but after a few minutes, the repeating music started to get on my nerves. Overall though, I think you did a good job.

Flipping World by TheBoat 2014-08-26T19:48:00

I found the heart in under two minutes! I would have liked to see more content, but what you have works well.

Interplanetary by mactinite 2014-08-25T22:06:00

Very cool! I got killed almost immediately after encountering the enemies, but everything before then was really cool and well done.

Provider Bob by Cryunreal 2014-08-27T19:29:00

This was a fun, albeit grotesque experience, haha. Well done.

Expedition by holgk 2014-08-26T14:11:00

Very cool. Somewhat similar to my game. I think you did a really good job here.

Day Dream by Takashy87 2014-08-25T18:15:00

I like how it switches mode at the snake boss. Interesting concept. I would like to see it more developed.

Ethernet Quest by MentaL13 2014-08-26T21:18:00

Wow, this is tough! Got up to 23. Interesting take on the theme, definitely unique. I enjoyed it, although some music or sound effects would have been nice.

Planet Rescuers by lion123 2014-08-25T17:04:00

I was a bit confused about what I was supposed to do, but I love crafting games, so I was intrigued.

Black Box Bandit by BillToWin 2014-08-25T13:43:00

Cool little puzzle game. Brought back memories. I personally found the sound/music a little too much. An option to disable them would've been nice.

Salvation by 43iscoding 2014-08-26T14:16:00

I really like this game. Although I beat level 5 but it didn't give me the victory/defeat window, it was just stuck. Very cool take on the theme and well done.

Pluto's Revenge by marvalgames 2014-08-25T14:26:00

Very cool. I enjoyed this. I'm impressed that you only worked on it for 12 hours. Well done.

Zanlings Match - Connected Worlds by Franklin's Ghost 2014-08-27T19:19:00

Haha, I enjoyed this. The audio got to be a little much, but other than that, well done. Very interesting take on the theme.

Co-orbital by Kuchalu 2014-08-25T15:52:00

This was a lot of fun. Interesting take on the theme, innovative and well done overall.

R-elink: A link between worlds by RaycoSantana 2014-08-26T19:45:00

A very interesting take on the theme! I like the idea. The controls could have used some fine tuning and the audio seemed very loud, but other than that, I enjoyed playing. Well done!

Merge by vicious_br 2014-08-26T21:25:00

Very cool game. Very difficult as well, but I enjoyed it. Nice work.

TrainSim 4000 by smbe19 2014-08-25T14:20:00

Very cool, my kind of game. I love the music. Well done!

Salvation by HoboMechanistic 2014-08-25T17:13:00

This is an interesting concept, but the interface was not very intuitive. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. I like the graphics and the idea though.

Constellation by Aglavra 2014-08-25T14:10:00

The controls could use some polish, but overall well done. Interesting take on the theme. Well done!

Black to White by tutelagesystems 2014-08-25T14:02:00

Collision detection is definitely not generous! Those spikes must be laced with poison, haha. Fun idea, and I like the "uh" when you die. Good job! I would suggest making the collision boxes of the spikes a bit smaller.

W4 by jpmit 2014-08-26T20:15:00

My brain hurts after playing this, trying to keep my directions straight. Quite a fun mechanic! The player controls were a bit difficult though. Overall, a fun game. Well done!

The Signal by tillrobby 2014-08-25T16:53:00

I was impressed by this game. I think it would help to have a tutorial puzzle first to help players understand the gameplay concepts, but other than that, I think you did a great job.

Synchro Space by FeYbraNt 2014-08-25T14:31:00

This is pretty cool. Very difficult, but cool. Sounds are a little loud, but other than that, well done.

Interplanetary Defense Alliance by TaylorAnderson 2014-08-25T21:28:00

It took me a short while to figure out how to play, but after that it was pretty simple until I started running out of shapes! Very well done. I like this game.

ScrollShift by diamondgfx 2014-08-25T14:57:00

I enjoy the occasional endless runner, so I enjoyed this game. I really liked the art style and the switching between portals was a cool idea. Well done!

CATastrophe by Roknsk 2014-08-26T21:00:00

Pretty good for your first LD! Congrats on completing your game. I found the game too easy, personally. There weren't very many obstacles to avoid. Also, it would have been nice if the window were a bit bigger. I have a big monitor and the window the game played in was very small.

schizm by KittyMac 2014-08-25T15:10:00

On first play I was overwhelmed, trying to read what all the parts were so I lost the first time. The second time though, I taught that red planet a lesson! Fun concept and well executed. I enjoyed playing this. Well done.

MS. PORTAL MAN by nickculbertson 2014-08-25T16:01:00

Very well done. The game seems very polished for being done in 48 hours. The challenge of the obstacles forcing you to use the portals was a good idea. The music was a little annoying after a while though.

Hold My Beer by imdigitaljim 2014-08-26T21:22:00

It took a while to figure out which parts of the building you were able to land on. The controls seems a little overly sensitive too. Very funny though, and and interesting take on the theme.

Alter Axis by TheBigG 2014-08-26T20:47:00

Cool mechanic in this game. It was pretty tricky to control both at once. Well done!

Solar Buddies by BunkeyInteractive 2014-08-25T13:56:00

Very nice! Extremely difficult though! I enjoyed this. Well done.

Saman by koalamo 2014-08-25T21:17:00

Good use of the theme. Innovative game play. Well done!

ET Invasion, Random Game by Anshzinc 2014-08-25T15:01:00

For only a couple of hours, this isn't bad. Take it for what it is, a learning experience.

After killing quite a few planes, I can say that the controls could use some work, but I think you have the start of a cool game here.

Different But The Same by chriskdev 2014-08-25T13:48:00

Not much of a game, but an interesting idea. You should definitely not judge someone by race, but rather by actions. I did enjoy the walking animation. Well done.

Color Runner by vinhuman 2014-08-26T21:05:00

I really like this idea! The color switching was pretty awesome, nice job. I fell off the level though and just kept falling indefinitely. Minor issue though. Overall, I think you did an excellent job.

Tangled Mini Worlds by Lars-Kristian 2014-08-26T14:26:00

I love this! The puzzles are very cool and I love the mechanic. I really like how the buildings wobble when you move the pieces. Very nice touch. The controls are a bit tricky, but manageable. I'd like to see this idea expanded upon with more levels. Well done!

99 LuftWaffels by quill18 2014-08-25T19:56:00

This is a fun game. Well done! My entry this time was inspired by Drill18, so I hope you'll check it out and give me your thoughts. I also enjoyed watching your livestream while I worked.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Hunting by oab 2015-08-24T02:11:00

I also like the graphical style and was disappointed when the game ended so quickly. I think this has a lot of potential. What is here is pretty well done, so congrats!

Mortal Fright by belva1234 2015-08-26T19:06:00

I like this. It's a fun stealth game and a good take on the theme. Bonus points for having level progression with locked levels!

Peace is a lie! by komjaur 2015-08-25T02:06:00

I liked the visuals of the game. The plane was difficult to control and it wasn't immediately apparently what I was supposed to do. Once I figured it out though, it worked pretty well. Good job!

Monster in the House by Jani Nykänen 2015-08-26T19:28:00

It seems someone is bitter, haha. Seriously, nice concept and good graphics. Well done.

BECOME by JustinJ 2015-08-25T02:02:00

This was a tough one! I wasn't able to finish, but it was interesting to play. Overall, a good experience. Well done.

No Credit, No Problem! by Razoric 2015-08-26T18:27:00

I really like the aesthetics of this game. Definitely has a Papers, Please vibe going on, which isn't a bad thing. Nice work, although I personally could have done without the final dialog exchange.

Oranges In Love With My Fly by ViliX64 2015-08-26T18:13:00

I love the mood you set here. I didn't play through the whole story, but long enough to get an idea of the game. A very interesting take on the theme and I think you did a nice job.

Sucker Punch by Shaw 2015-08-26T19:58:00

At first I was like "this is too slow" then soon enough it all broke loose! This is a fun entry and very well done. Good job!

Disgruntled Minion Grabs Some Cash by NoTrueSpaceman 2015-08-25T01:42:00

I loved the sound effects. Very funny. The artistic aesthetics were nice too. It fits the game. The controls were difficult though and could use some refinement.

Fairycula by dusho 2015-08-24T02:00:00

My first time out I went to a one of the villagers and saw blood coming out so I thought I was killing it. Turns out it was killing me! So I tried again and actually read the directions this time. I killed a lot of them second time around.

This is a cool game. I like the art style and the sound effects really set the mood. Well done.

I: Alien by gnuwilliam 2015-08-26T18:03:00

Good take on the theme. It was fun jumping on the human's heads to take them out. More challenging that I would've expected too. Nice work.

A Game Where You Are ANY Monster by Saphyre 2015-08-25T02:11:00

Some seriously messed up content in this one! The text adventure was well done, although some of the choices I was given made me uneasy. I still chose them though, so well done. :)

Soup by JoshDBB 2015-08-25T02:56:00

I enjoy games like this. This was very well put together. Good job!

Dropbox seems to be working again now. Sorry about that!

Detonate by AdenMansonGames 2015-08-26T18:38:00

Not too bad for 10 hours! Fun take on the theme. Good job!

Dial M for Monster by AAGH Games 2015-08-25T21:00:00

Interesting use of the words as sprites, definite points for originality there. The audio was a little repetitive, but overall a good experience. Well done!

Orbit by roban101 2015-08-26T18:06:00

Very unique idea and I like it. The graphics were really nice too. Controls were a bit tricky, but not too bad. Good job!

Kaiju A-Go-Go by GeeItSomeLaldy 2015-08-26T20:08:00

Very cool idea and well implemented. Audio got a bit repetitive and it wasn't obvious how to fire the breath attack, but other than that, well done.

Nom by Ovidios 2015-08-25T21:08:00

I love the webcam feature idea, unfortunately I don't have a webcam to test it with. Very good integration of the theme. Took me a few hits to figure out that I could click on the rockets to stop them. Overall, good entry. Well done!

You are the Monster by funkysquid 2015-08-25T13:07:00

This is quite good. I like the movement and attack mechanic. The details are nice as well. Well done.

The Devil's Daughter by SinclairStrange 2015-08-25T03:02:00

I love the visual style of this game. Extremely well done. The level design was good. My only complaints are the controls were a little iffy and the character's voice got annoying after a while. Other than that, this is a very well made game.

Jenkaiu by PeYMaN 2015-08-25T20:49:00

I really like this. The atmosphere of the game is great. The visuals and audio really work well together. Well done!

I am the monster under your bed by Darkgoon 2015-08-26T15:13:00

Man, these people own a lot of pets! Well done. I was really glad to see there were more than just one level. I like the take on the theme too.

Car of Monster by Alsatian Studio 2015-08-26T17:53:00

I love that I can drift into running over people. Graphics are very nice and there are a lot of little details that add to the polish. Nice work!

Lovers on a Park Bench by peterthehe 2015-08-26T17:58:00

Well that took a dark turn! I didn't care for the computerized voice, but the story was engaging and the attacks were fun. Pretty well done game. Good job!

Village Terrorizer by Flygamer101 2015-08-26T19:14:00

Very cool. I like the depth you were able to add here. I like the pixel art and the overall aesthetics of the game. Good job!

Dungeon of the Mimic by Alpenter 2015-08-26T18:35:00

This is a fun game. Took me a few tries to figure out what was coming after me and how to prevent it, but it made sense afterwards. Very nice game. Good job!

Monster Truck Rampage by Denis347 2015-08-26T18:58:00

Very nice! Good take on the theme. Well done.

Good Night Monster by Multiplexor 2015-08-25T21:12:00

I really liked running around destroying the buildings. It was a lot of fun. Well done!

Competition Inside Monsterous Inc by MarelisGameDev 2015-08-26T17:42:00

The dialog screens were too slow and unfortunately did not have any way to speed them up. I would also like to have been able to run, as it sometimes took a long time to get to where you wanted to go. The pixel art was pretty interesting. Glad to see little details in the decoration.

T.A.G.W.Y.H.O.P.P.D.a.a.D.o.S.S. by DavidErosa 2015-08-25T01:50:00

This is a really good game. It made me laugh when I first saw the flyers sticking to the people's face. Very clever use of pluto's heart as well. Well done.

The March of the Dropped Band by Dukio 2015-08-26T15:06:00

Congrats on completely your first Ludum Dare! This is an interesting idea and a unique take on the theme. Well done!

Power Lich by rattower 2015-08-26T19:18:00

I like the art style you went with. It's simple, but effective. Cool game overall. Nice work!

KidsGrace by Polith Games 2015-08-26T17:50:00

Cute little game and a good take on the theme. The problem I had was that while I know WASD very well and can type fast, associating a finger to the key was difficult for some reason, making the game very challenging for me. Well done.

Minotaur by Picking a username is hard 2015-08-26T15:18:00

This is a fun game. I got 900, I'm not sure if that's a good score or not, but I enjoyed getting to it. The audio was nice at first but got repetitive and annoying by the end. Good job!

AM I? by DruhinM 2015-08-26T17:44:00

I like the take on the theme, good choice. I was glad to see the bike veered off course after a while. That added to the challenge. Good job!

MonsterParty by 022pedro 2015-08-24T14:09:00

I couldn't really figure out how to match the hole to the right monster. I laughed every time I got the wrong answer though. The visuals are basic, but very colorful which works well for the game, and the animations give it a bit of life. Overall, not bad, I just wish I knew how to match the monsters better.

Dark Entries by MechaTofuPirate 2015-08-25T02:33:00

Very disturbing! It was a well written story. Good job.

Princess Harem by tal 2015-08-26T15:09:00

Good take on the theme. Visuals are good, but the dragon is sometimes difficult to control. Overall, well done!

Bumble's Quest by jcourt 2015-08-25T02:21:00

I completed the game! The controls were difficult (I kept overshooting where I wanted to point). You may want to consider giving the shots a shorter lifespan. I was able to sit back and snipe off a lot of the villagers without putting myself in any danger. Well done!

Sly Slime - Revenge On All Players by reckhou 2015-08-26T18:01:00

Wow, this is a good game. Very challenging though. I like the concept and use of the theme. Well done!

Nailed by OutlawGameTools 2015-08-25T01:47:00

iMonster by chkkll 2015-08-26T20:03:00

Very cool game. The art and sound are well done and everything seems very polished. Nice work!

Monster Chips by derugin.s 2015-08-26T17:25:00

Stunning visuals. The controls were decent, although I think placing the camera slightly closer to the monster to give you a better view of what's directly in front of you would be nice. Overall, very well done.

Motherflipin' T-Rex! by mantis 2015-08-25T17:12:00

You know it's a good game when you're gleefully laughing while you're playing it. The sound effects really sold it. Well done!

Collateral by mklee 2015-08-24T01:56:00

Wow, very cool! I killed 109 people. Not sure if that's good or not. I liked the take on the classic snake game. The sound effects got a little tiring, but other than that I have nothing bad to say. Well done.

Bug life by mramaizng 2015-08-24T01:52:00

Interesting concept! The first time I played, I went off the screen and had to reload. Once I figured out you were supposed to hit the ground, I was good to go. I was a bit disappointed that there weren't more levels, but what is there is fun.

Politics by foxor 2015-08-24T14:24:00

At first I was like "this is boring" but then more and more options appeared and soon I was fighting tooth and nail for the life of my campaign! Unfortunately I lost the election. Interesting game here. Well done.

The Cauldron of Humanity by Lashiz121 2015-08-26T17:28:00

Nice concept and use of the theme. Wish the fireballs I threw had a little less range. They mostly flew right over the heads of the targets.

LD37 — One room

Quipp by ModernMan 2016-12-12T15:02:00

Pretty good, especially for a first time LD entry. Congrats on completing. I had no issues with framerates, although the game was brutal. Nice work!

The Ninth Circle by zeoxo 2016-12-12T17:14:00

Congrats on completing your first game jam! Pretty cool game here. I agree that being able to shoot horizontal once they reach the ground would be nice.

Punchies by Sos 2016-12-12T13:37:00

I watched you work on this for a bit on Twitch. I enjoyed the music. The controls made it difficult to be precise with jumps which in turn made a few areas frustrating. Not sure how well it fits the theme, but it was fun to play. I enjoyed the unexpected ending as well.

One Room Left by nycolas 2016-12-12T13:58:00

I cleared all the stages! I agree with the MrEvilGuy. The music doesn't fit the game, but it was nice. I like the unexpected use of the theme. Overall nicely done.

St. Nick's Defense by Josh H 2016-12-12T16:26:00

Oops, sorry about that! I must have pasted into the wrong field. It's fixed now.

Aperta Corporata by amras0000 2016-12-12T16:25:00

Unfortunately I wasn't able to run this. It crashed and I reloaded it and it got to the congrats screen and then hung. I'm running OpenGL 4.5, so I'm not sure what's going on. I'm disappointed as this looks like a great game. Congrats on completing though! (I didn't rate any categories)

Rat Chase by MestR 2016-12-13T14:17:00

This reminds me of a game I made back in the 90s about killing bugs. Ah, nostalgia... Anyway, this was very well done. Great idea.

The Evidence Room by TrampolineTales 2016-12-12T14:56:00

An interesting take on the theme. I think I ran into a bug on the second opera evidence. Couldn't find one that fit, although the second time around I found it immediately. Not sure if it was missing the first time around or not. This gives me a "Papers, Please" vibe that I like. Simple, but effective. Nice work.

Your little human by Quaternius 2016-12-13T14:15:00

I enjoyed this, although I feel the difficulty may have ramped up a little too fast. Overall, very well done.

LD38 — A Small World

GERM by jharler 2017-04-24T03:13:55Z

It's in C++ using my custom game library.

GERM by jharler 2017-04-24T03:36:36Z

Unfortunately not. My library has been designed to support multiple platforms, I just haven't gotten that far yet.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Energy Juice by TheSand 2017-07-31T14:52:55Z

Not a mechanic you see very often, but pretty well done. I found the Pro mode significantly easier than the previous mode, as the letters weren't dropping quite as fast. The music was a bit loud by default and by the time I finished all the modes, I was ready for it to be over. Love the mood and congrats on finishing.

Circuit Runner by blaclegi 2017-07-31T14:55:31Z

I like the idea you have going here. Unfortunately, the controls are a bit unforgiving. Smoother movement would make this significantly easier to play. Overall, very nice job.

Mega-mia by Frozen Stick 2017-08-21T16:21:46Z

I liked the music, great job on that. I'm not sure if I was encountering a bug or if maybe I didn't understand what I was supposed to do, but there was no background and I kept falling into holes causing the game to restart. Congrats on finishing your game!

Socketbound by Wekaj 2017-07-31T14:04:39Z

I love the old school graphics, you did a good job with them. Hard game, but very well done. I wish I could turn and move in the same instant though. Got killed a few times because I expected to move right but the dude just turned instead.

Jumping Jehosaphat by jharler 2017-07-31T11:51:44Z

Yes, please email to jharler gmail.com. Thanks!

Jumping Jehosaphat by jharler 2017-07-31T12:07:11Z

I think I was able to fix this. Please download from Itch.io again and let me know if it still fails to run. I appreciate your help debugging!

REAMS by CameronPenner 2017-08-21T16:39:50Z

I really like the mood you were able to establish with this and the voice work was well done. It's very jarring when you die, but in a good way, if that makes sense. Congrats on finishing and nice work.

Defend Home: Mars by sgt3v 2017-08-02T14:37:39Z

I really liked the music beat. I felt it gave great atmosphere. The reloading animation was a cool touch I wasn't expecting. I didn't make it very far, but I enjoyed playing. Great work!

Powerlift by Noxim 2017-07-31T14:58:27Z

This made me laugh (in a good way). Of course, I had to push the dude to his limit to see what happened. Would have been nice to see the aftermath of the health problems. :) Nice work!

Down to the last Percents by Garazbolg2 2017-08-21T16:44:17Z

I'm not sure if it was intended or not, but the character moved incredibly slow when I was pressing right. I love the mood you had set here and the graphics were fitting. The monster is definitely disturbing, so good work there too. Overall, nice entry!

Necromancy by N4tticus 2017-07-31T10:53:09Z

First time I ran it I got nothing but a white screen. Closed and re-ran and it worked the second time.

This is a tough game, those enemies are relentless! Cool upgrade and weapons system. Nice work!

Gradient Descent by Zelos 2017-08-02T15:34:26Z

Very beautiful game. The graphics and music were spot on. The click to continue sound was a bit jarring in contrast, but it didn't detract much from the overall experience. I enjoyed the journey your game took me on. Nice work.

Last Shine by Fran Segura 2017-08-21T20:20:59Z

Challenging, but fun. I enjoyed the graphics a lot and the music was very well made. The keyboard controls were a bit fiddly, but not enough to make it unplayable. Overall, very nicely done. Congrats!

MotherBoard by nikrt 2017-08-02T14:48:01Z

Wow that was epic! I'm very impressed with the music and the mood you were able to capture. Who knew the inside of an iPhone was that intense! Very cool game. Great work.

Alien Swarm by oxrock 2017-07-31T14:47:04Z

I agree that a targeting reticle would've been ideal. It took a while to get used to firing without one. I love the colorful feel and humorous take on the theme. Nice work!

Will Power by William Derksen 2017-07-31T10:44:44Z

The video is a nice touch. I love the mood you were able to get with this, very unsettling. I wasn't able to get very far. I kept getting stuck after sleeping where I couldn't move and that scary red ball kept catching me. Very cool game, great job.

Jerry The Donut Eating Engine Driver by TheLukker 2017-07-31T13:50:14Z

Haha, well that was certainly an experience. After getting overwhelmed by reddit-bots the first go, I was able to use a few well timed coal nuggets to take them out. I got to the donuts, but apparently, I was too full to eat any (W didn't do anything when I stood on the donuts). I then decided to bail myself and fell down a very, very, very deep hole that didn't seem to have an end. Nice work!

Delivery Drain by Thorneto 2017-08-02T14:53:41Z

This brought on some anxiety by my terrible sense of direction! GPS is my lifeline when I'm travelling and having my phone die on a trip is definitely a fear and something I try to avoid. Very cool idea related to the theme. Nice job!

D34TH by Falk Bruskeland 2017-08-02T14:42:38Z

Pretty fun little game here. It's sometimes really hard to get a shot in, when the moment you enter their line of site, they shoot and you have to immediately jump to avoid. I think with a little practice it would be easier. I personally would've preferred more intuitive input options (space for jumping and menu selection, A/D for moving and mouse click for firing), but what you have works, it's just a little awkward. Overall, great job.

Battery Pack by shashwat 2017-07-31T11:25:07Z

The good: Good use of theme and entertaining death messages. The bad: The music got repetitive pretty quickly. Mixing it up a little more would've gone a long ways.

Overall, this is a nice little game. Congrats!

And Here Again by PerduGames 2017-07-31T11:47:23Z

I agree with other commentors, I wasn't sure what to do here. The controls are finicky (it's hard to get through doors and you can't move diagonally). I like the atmosphere of the game though, and congrats on finishing your game!

< Mr. Plug > by Drachmor 2017-07-31T11:38:14Z

I really enjoyed this. The simple solid graphics for the environment and the pixel art for the plugs went well together. I would've liked to have had some background music and feedback sound effects, but that didn't detract too much from the experience. The first time the map changed after getting the first piece, it wasn't obvious that I had to go back in the same direction, but I was able to quickly figure that out. Maybe an indicator letting the player know to go back in that same direction would've helped. Overall, very well done.

Sol Probe Power by GettingRekt 2017-07-31T15:01:09Z

I like the visual aesthetics of this. The controls were a bit touchy, so I had a difficult time moving around at first. Overall, nice work!

Torch Boy by FloBar 2017-08-02T14:56:18Z

Wow that was tough! I like the pixel art and the idea of charging up your attack goes well with the theme. Nice work!

Smash ball by Sivael 2017-07-31T14:44:39Z

Very cool. I really liked the visuals and it was great fun getting the ball up to speed to knock over entire towers of blocks. Nice work.

LD42 — Running out of space

TeTrans by BoltKey 2018-08-14T15:11:52Z

Very interesting take on the theme. I like the use of tetris-style spacial management in the cargo system. It says I scored 568 in Czech Republic, but I'm not on the leaderboard. Is the leaderboard out of space? :) Nice job on this one!

Ludum Dare to be Messy! by jharler 2018-08-13T16:53:14Z

@boltkey what are your computer specs? My google search indicates that error occurs when the graphics card is overloaded. Are you using an integrated or low powered graphics card? There should be a log.txt file in the app's directory. If you could copy that into pastebin and reply here with the link, I'll see if there's anything I can do about it. Thanks!

Ludum Dare to be Messy! by jharler 2018-08-13T18:03:00Z

@boltkey I think I might know what the problem is. Here's a new version you can try: https://bit.ly/2Mpp4Rc. If that one fails as well, please send me a new log file. You can either post here, or email me at jharler@gmail.com. Thanks for your help!

Ludum Dare to be Messy! by jharler 2018-08-13T18:06:32Z

@314owen I hear you! Originally the gameplay was much slower and it took much longer to lose. I sped up every stage of the game (he increases speed in stages) and that made it much more fast paced. I should have increased the speed you moved or at least allowed you the option to run. Thanks for the feedback!

@talios He only takes a bite or two out of each item before he throws them, so he's self regulating a bit. :) I keep forgetting to make an option for mouse sensitivity. I'll try to get a post compo version up with this option.

@derpylz Thanks for the feedback! Maybe I'll add a run option in a post compo version.

Ludum Dare to be Messy! by jharler 2018-08-14T14:40:10Z

@steffo thank you so much for the log! It helped me narrow down the problem. Turns out if you launch from the itch app, there are no game textures. I've released a new version that fixes the problem if you'd like to give it another shot.

@nikasxirtla Thanks!

@colin-doody Thanks for the feedback. That seems to be a common complaint and something I'm going to address going forward.

@fenderbate Thanks for playing and the feedback. I entertained the idea of carrying multiple items or switching items you're holding, but I just ran out of time to do anything like that.

@muriel Thanks! Developing your own library is definitely not easy, but it's very rewarding and a lot of fun!

@mantou Haha, maybe that will be my game for LD43! :)

Ludum Dare to be Messy! by jharler 2018-08-15T14:31:35Z

@gexalmighty Yeah, he's not very considerate, is he?

@mike-inprinciple Thanks for the input. I've put a post compo version that has a mouse sensitivity setting if you'd like to play it as intended.

@shp Thanks! I'm wondering if it's an input problem or a framerate problem. What graphics card are you running?

@kmce Thanks! I appreciate the kind words.

@hunter-towe Thank you for the in-depth review. I'll take a look at the log file and see if I can determine why it failed the second time. Does it crash every time now?

@awix Thanks! I spent a lot of time since last LD working on my modeling skills.

@agentparsec I've put out a post-compo version that includes mouse sensitivity options (hit escape in the game to access it), so you can play it with better controls if you'd like.

@glock00 Thanks! A large chunk of my 48 hours were spent in Blender! I think I spent about 5 hours on the guy and his animations. Sorry about the mouse control. I put a post compo version out with a mouse sensitivity option if you'd like to give it a shot.

Ludum Dare to be Messy! by jharler 2018-08-16T11:26:52Z

@hunter-towe Did you download LudumDareToBeMessy.3.zip? I need to add versioning to my logs so I can tell which build it comes from...

@glock00 I'm glad you found it more enjoyable with the mouse sensitivity option. There is no way to drop an item other than putting it in the proper bin. Technically, the rules only require source code to be included (which I've done), but I will provide the [blender files as well](http://joshuaharler.net/ludumdare/LD42/LD42_BlenderAssets.zip).

Ludum Dare to be Messy! by jharler 2018-08-16T11:31:16Z

@shp That card should be fine. Hmm, I'll need to look into possible input issues. Do you have a standard mouse or are you using a gaming mouse? Wireless? Any extra info you can provide would be helpful. Thanks!

@masterkrepta Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Next time I will be sure to add the ability to run. Learned my lesson on that one. :)

@comenoha Yeah, I felt like that myself with all the snacks and drinks I had this past weekend. Fortunately, I tried to keep it relatively healthy!

Ludum Dare to be Messy! by jharler 2018-08-16T11:59:13Z

@hunter-towe Excellent! Thanks for confirming that it works.

@poffle He's only eating/drinking a little bit from each item, so he should be ok. :) Actually, I did want to add the ability to throw the items into the bins, but I ran out of time.

Reso Crawler by ShockWire 2018-08-14T15:22:39Z

Very interesting mechanic and well done too. I think it might have been too easy though. As long as I kept moving, the enemies didn't really seem to hit me. Overall, great job here!

Brand new shop by Mathiouza 2018-08-14T13:57:38Z

I'm impressed with all that you got into this game. The tutorial was great. It perfectly explained the mechanics and was very thorough. I wasn't very good at pressing the button when it was green, but did pretty well at the other games. The art was well done and the music suited the game. Great job here!

Defragment VR by agentparsec 2018-08-13T15:53:37Z

Worked great on my Vive. I typically jump into jam games without reading the controls, to judge how intuitive the games are. I must have skipped past the tutorial the first time I played, because I was lost. However, I went and read the controls, then went back and tried again and got the tutorial the second time. Not sure if that was me skipping or a bug, but I thought I'd let you know.

The game is well done. Once I figured out the best way for me to play was to sit in a corner and grab the cubes from there, I did pretty well. 36 mb in my best run. A few comments:

- The music is catchy and I'll probably be hearing that song in my head all day. - The visuals are simple, but effective and well done. I liked the use of light. - The physics are really wonky. Every run ended because of a physics glitch. - Having the barrier at about eye level was disorienting and made the game impossible for me to play standing up.

Very cool to see a VR game in this Jam and having it be a high quality one makes it even better. Great job!

Bleach Beach by Steffo 2018-08-14T20:31:37Z

I really like the hand-drawn visuals you have here. Everything was coherent and there were a lot of tiny details. The idea of a boat having a grappling hook and jetpack cracks me up. Very inventive and it works well. I wish you had added some sound effects, as I think that could really add to the experience. Overall though, great job!

The Arena by ZenriS 2018-08-14T13:51:11Z

I like the twist you added on the typical spleef gameplay. The visuals were nicely done. The music got a little repetitive though. It was hard to avoid holes in your own play area but I'm not sure that's a problem. Overall, great job and congrats for finishing!

Field of Bodies by muriel 2018-08-14T20:18:44Z

I appreciate the aesthetic you came up with here. It worked well. I like the upgrade system. A couple issues I had are in some places the font used seemed out of place and the movement system took a lot of getting used to. Overall, great entry and nice work.

Djabo by thomas-olsson 2018-08-14T12:06:47Z

The visuals and audio of this game are amazing. Very well done! The atmosphere really gives you a sense of dread when you're being overtaken. I'm very impressed with what you've accomplished. I do wish you had chosen a different font though. The one in the game feels really out of place.

EVOLUTION by Noa Calice 2018-08-14T16:45:02Z

This is a very nicely polished game. The art is spot on and beautiful. The sound effects are good. Your game feel is excellent with all the juice you added. It does feel a bit more like a statement than a game. Perhaps adding a way to counter-act the negative affects on the planet, such as solar panels or whatever would make it a more interesting game. Overall, you did a good job with this one.

Beat These Games! by gamesplusjames 2018-08-14T11:55:47Z

Very inventive take on the theme. I'm impressed that you were able to get so many mini games in. Great job! I was really hard though, even on easy! :)

Protocol: 47 - Superstar Appeal by Poffle 2018-08-17T19:12:12Z

This had me cracking up several times. Excellent job! The voiceover acting and singing were superb and the level of polish was very high. The game did seem to lock up on me after the singer said he was going to kill his wife tonight... Overall, great job, I really liked this.

Disk Allocation: Typing Spectacular by electr1ca 2018-08-13T16:30:27Z

The art was simple, but very clean and the aesthetics are great. The sounds and music matched the game nicely. I'll echo what torcado said about not being able to submit a line after taking damage. The first couple times it happened, I thought it was a bug. The cause and effect was not clearly shown to the player.

Overall, this is a great entry. I'm going to wrap this up now, my fingers are tired from all this typing!

Deep Heat by gwinnell 2018-08-13T17:00:08Z

The art in this is great. Very well done and well suited for the game itself. The music worked well too. I did run into a problem with it being too easy to accidentally go down the ladder. A couple times I was collecting coins and accidentally got too close to the ladder and wasn't able to collect everything. Overall, nice job!

Cryptovirus by Corqi 2018-08-14T20:05:47Z

I liked the twist on sokoban you have here. It was simple enough to figure out through gameplay, which is always a plus. I like the visuals and overall think you did a great job. Nice work.

Puzzle Out VR by glock00 2018-08-17T19:03:29Z

Worked fine with my Vive, although after winning the game it got stuck on the Congratulations screen. It took me a few tries to figure out exactly what was happening, but after that things were fine. VR really lends itself to claustrophobia-inducing games like this. Congrats on a great VR game, I hope you're able to get enough ratings to rank. Nice work!

Pre Alpha Build by PlusMinus 2018-08-17T18:56:19Z

I really liked this! The idea of mixing a Tetris-like spacial puzzle into a tower defense game works really well! The graphics were excellent (I especially liked the explosions) and the audio was great too. The "Nope" also made me laugh, so props for that too. One thing that bothered me was that if I tried to place a building that I couldn't quite make, I lost the placement cursor and had to click back on the building. That was a little irritating. Other than that, no complaints. Great work!

Acreage by pomb 2018-08-14T13:39:17Z

Very beautiful visuals here. It took a bit of time to figure out how the mechanics worked. Some more thorough instructions I think would make this easier to pick up. Some minor audio cues would've added a lot to the game play. Overall, great job!

Crushed by comenoha 2018-08-17T19:19:15Z

Wow, great level of polish here! The graphics, while minimalistic, were good. I really liked the bloom effect, and the music was great. The levels themselves were a little rough around the edges, but the idea is solid and I think if you were to develop this further, you'd have a great puzzle platformer. Great job all around!

Roham! by Fenderbate 2018-08-14T12:59:02Z

I liked this game. It was pretty fun, though I didn't make it very far! Visuals were simple, but well done and they worked. Same with the audio. The controls were a little unusual and took some getting used to. Perhaps using the mouse to determine the direction the character was facing would be more intuitive? Not sure. Overall, great job!

Spacecraft OS 8 by ManTou 2018-08-14T20:22:15Z

I wanted to slap the smug look off that alien face after he killed me, haha. Memorable game, though a bit overwhelming at first with all the options. I wasn't sure what to do. I like the visuals and the flying mechanic seemed really smooth. Overall, nice game!

Jail Space by dangerbackwards 2018-08-14T20:15:00Z

I like the use of the Tetris mechanics in this game. I'm a big fan of Tetris myself, so it was nice to see. I also had an antivirus problem with this, but it was cleared and I was able to run it no problem. Congrats on finishing!

YandereDotDefence by GexAlmighty 2018-08-14T20:37:02Z

I wrote a tower defense game for LD a couple years ago, so I understand the challenges involved. You did a good job here. The graphics were pretty good and audio funny. I did have a problem where the rightmost part of the screen was cut off for me. It didn't prevent me from playing, but was a bit inconvenient. Nice work overall!

Carter's Crates by Diego Escalante 2018-08-14T13:41:52Z

This got difficult very quickly. The visuals were nice and polished and the mechanics interesting. I would have liked to hear some more variation in the audio, but what you have is fine. Overall, great job!

AstroExpand by Timbals 2018-08-14T15:04:12Z

Interesting take on the theme. At first I thought I needed to deposit the rocks in order to purchase things, so I was wondering why I couldn't buy a gun or rocket because I never had enough rocks. Once I realized it was one or the other, the game became much more clear. I enjoyed the game, nice work. The music got a little repetitive after a few minutes though. Congrats on finishing!

Running out of Space by 314owen 2018-08-13T18:57:54Z

A great, inventive game here. I really like the mechanics and some of the puzzles required a bit of thought and experimentation. Nice work with that. I would have liked for the level to be longer, but I understand the time constraints. Great submission!

Too Much Post by Thomas den Hollander 2018-08-14T13:04:41Z

That was a challenge! I liked the music you had in the background and the audio cues when things happened were good. Game play wise, I wish the letters were treated like a FIFO queue instead of FILO. That's a more intuitive way to do it so that if I'm traveling to a destination to deliver a letter, I don't have to worry about avoiding accidentally picking up a new letter (which sometimes can't be avoided if it appears right in front of you). I would also have liked a game over screen showing me how many letters I got before failing. Overall though, nice job!

One Man's Trash by mike_inPrinciple 2018-08-14T19:47:52Z

Started out really easy, then got pretty challenging as the box filled up. I like the visuals, nice job on the models. The audio was repetitive and got a bit annoying as it went. Some variation in frequency in the audio or something to give some variety might help a lot with that. Good use of physics.

The Eternal Fight (for space in bed) by derpylz 2018-08-14T11:59:45Z

Quite a unique take on the theme. The graphics were pretty cool and worked well. I will concur with other reviewers that the controls were a bit confusing and a lot of things I tried didn't seem to accomplish anything. I did end up winning though. Congrats on finishing your game!

Desktop Clout! by James Shipp 2018-08-14T13:32:38Z

I like the idea and the visuals. Interesting take on the theme. I did find it to be too slow, as there were times when there was nothing to do but wait. Congrats on completing your game!

Ninja Bear by Hunter Towe 2018-08-17T18:51:01Z

I'm so glad there were checkpoints in this game! It would have been infuriating otherwise, so good choice there. Nothing groundbreaking as far as the mechanics go, but they fit the theme, so nice choice. Overall, well done!

Bathtub Toys by KMCE 2018-08-17T18:41:41Z

Very nice! Even better that it's your first LD. The graphics were simple, but they worked well and the audio was very pleasant. I would have liked to see some visual indicator that your boat took damage, but other than that it was pretty straightforward. Great work!

Build Out In Space by nikasxirtla 2018-08-14T15:24:39Z

I'm not sure why, but my system is telling me the archive is corrupt, so I'm not able to try your game. Sorry! I didn't rate because of this.

Save Me A Seat by chaitae 2018-08-13T16:44:54Z

I really liked the aesthetics of this game. The art is really great. I did have an issue where some elements were being placed in front of other elements (the popcorn on the seats were showing up in front of my character when she walked by) and at one point one of the letters I was supposed to type was behind one of the other characters and I couldn't see it at all. Overall, nicely done. Congrats on completing your first Ludum Dare! I hope to see you back next time.

Mike the adventurer by Griz 2018-08-14T13:18:58Z

The visuals are nice, the audio works well and I really like the animations and particle effects. However, like the others, I would've liked to see more gameplay. It was fun (albeit too easy) to kill the bad guys, but other than that there was really nothing else to do. Your description mentions loot, but I didn't see any. This has potential though, so nice work on what you have here.

King of Bjorp by Colin Doody 2018-08-14T16:08:12Z

The graphics and audio were phenomenal, nice work on that! Very funny game too and bonus points for controller support! My only complaint is on my 4k monitor the play space was very small. I'm not sure if having a larger window would help or if zooming in on the action would be better. Regardless, that's a small gripe with a great game. Congrats!

Crate Chaos by TaliOS 2018-08-14T11:04:28Z

I like the simple, but coherent graphics. It works well in this game. Puzzle design was good and some stages required some thought and experimentation. My only point of contention is that the controls were a bit confusing and difficult. Overall, great entry. Nice work!

Feed cats by Noini 2018-08-14T13:44:51Z

Interesting take on the theme. Graphics were pretty good and the mechanics sound. If this is your first LD, congrats on finishing! It's certainly not an easy task to create a game in 48 hours, but you did it. Nice work!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Doki Doki no Artichokie by Jezzamon 2018-12-04T15:19:37Z

I'm not sure what's going on, but this has crashed on me twice. Once in the title screen and another about 30 seconds into the game. I haven't rated the game, but thought I'd let you know.

Doki Doki no Artichokie by Jezzamon 2018-12-04T17:43:07Z

It just froze and then the Window's message saying the app isn't responding came up. I didn't see a log file or anything.

Rogues Like Beer by NickZangus 2018-12-04T19:31:50Z

Excellent! I love the art style and the music. The gameplay was so smooth. Aside from a couple glitches when holding the stones and jumping, everything was spot on. It's amazing how much polish you got in one weekend. Very impressive work!

The M.O.N.K. by arkiruthis 2018-12-03T19:45:20Z

Very nice work on the visuals and music here, very polished. It was hard, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I would have liked to see a visual indicator (other than the health value decreasing) indicating that my character was taking damage. The music change when being hunted was smart. Overall, great job!

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-03T21:02:57Z

This was visually stunning and the audio was really good as well! The platforming was a little floaty and hard to control, but it was manageable. Overall, you did a really great job. Looking forward to the timelapse!

H E R D by King Kujito 2018-12-04T16:33:23Z

I like your take on the theme. I also liked how you gave names to each of the sheep, to make it more personal when one of them died. It made you want to save as many as you could. It's too bad you can't hit the wolf. That could make for some interesting interactions. The visuals seemed a little disjointed, with the 3D models combined with the flat 2D more cartoonish graphics, but nothing looked bad. Overall, you did a great job. Nice work!

Volcano Rush! by jharler 2018-12-03T15:41:04Z

@berkin there should be a log.txt file in the same directory. Can you copy the contents to https://pastebin.com and paste the link here?

Volcano Rush! by jharler 2018-12-03T16:06:08Z

@berkin Thanks. I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but it looks like an OpenGL problem. I've uploaded a new version labelled volcano_rush_debugging.zip. It will generate a new log file with detailed OpenGL logs. If you are up to it, I'd appreciate a new log file from that. Feel free to post here, or you can email it to me at jharler@gmail.com. Thanks for your assistance. This is the kind of fun stuff you deal with when writing your own engine. :)

Volcano Rush! by jharler 2018-12-03T17:10:28Z

@berkin Unfortunately, it looks like fixing the problem for you is going to be a bit more involved. I'm not sure if you want to take the time to do some back and forth with me to fix it, but if you do, please email me at jharler@gmail.com so we can coordinate.

@arkiruthis Glad it works well for you. Thanks!

@oxrock Yeah, I almost changed the model to give him at least some underpants, but I ran out of time!

@sam-hindson I've been working on this engine for three years now. Part time, but a lot of work has gone into it! Thanks for your input!

@rede Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!

Volcano Rush! by jharler 2018-12-03T20:21:06Z

@game-mon Thanks! I'm glad you liked the end. I'm particularly proud of that part. :) Checkpoints would have been a good idea. I didn't even think about it.

@jeroenpx Thanks for trying! You can watch the video playthrough I posted to see the end if you aren't able to get there.

Volcano Rush! by jharler 2018-12-04T20:06:06Z

@esosek Thanks for the kind words! I think I fell into the trap of thinking the game would be too easy for people because it was easy for me. I didn't even consider checkpoints. I'll keep that in mind in the future!

@gwinnell Thanks!

@gamesplusjames Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for streaming!

@adventureislands Good to hear you didn't have any problems with the controls, thanks for letting me know. The end is definitely my favorite part of this game. :)

@carlpilot Music is definitely my weakpoint, but I felt that even though it was a simplistic loop, it matched the game. As others have said, checkpoints would have been a good idea.

@shiqichuan Glad you had fun. Sorry for the difficulty!

@shp Thanks! I've worked hard improving my skills. I've learned that artistic ability is a skill that can be learned like anything else, as long as you commit the time to it!

Volcano Rush! by jharler 2018-12-04T22:26:45Z

@myfriendtames Thanks for the respect! Ludum Dare is great for putting my library to the test. Really stresses to me what I need to fix before the next LD!

@apace I'm sorry it was too difficult for you. I wish I had added checkpoints. If you haven't, please watch the playthrough video so you can see what happens at the end. You deserve that much for the effort!

Volcano Rush! by jharler 2018-12-05T20:54:46Z

@mumboo I thought that twist would be funny!

@joshanthony1990 Yeah, the obstacles are always located at the same place, so once you learn them, it's easy to get through. I can get to the top almost every time I try now.

@sandpile Watch out for that!

@xelphyre I'm glad you liked it!

@crosenlund79 Yeah, the lava flow jumps can be tricky. You need to wait until you're almost touching it. I rated and left a comment on your game.

@virtual-turtle-studio I'm glad you found my take on this type of game interesting. Also glad to hear v1 worked great! The problems it has seems to be rare, fortunately.

Planet 43 by MyFriendTames 2018-12-05T13:32:50Z

Congrats on completing your first Ludum Dare! Welcome to the addiction.

The facial expressions of the planet are great. It really helps in determining the state of the planet. I appreciate the clever use of "Ludum" as the name of the creatures. I think some simple background music and sound effects would've gone a long way to enhancing the experience. What you have here is good though, so be proud of your work!

Whale-mas by Ranner198 2018-12-03T22:48:10Z

I like the low poly aesthetics you've got here. It's a good, coherent style. The little speech blurbs were adorable and fit well with the game. It's a stretch for the theme usages though. Overall, great entry!

Superstar by mahalis 2018-12-06T20:40:32Z

I really like the visuals here and the water mechanics were spot on. I also ran into the problem where I didn't respawn after falling off the bottom.

The Sacrificial Trail by PhilStrahl 2018-12-03T15:35:00Z

Interesting idea. I liked the unexpected unicorn requesting coffee. Definitely a Pixel Prophecy game! :)

I did run into what might be a bug. I had 1 fatigue and took a road in fair condition and it said I was overly fatigued afterwards. Not sure if that's expected or not.

Looking forward to the video!

Jesus Take the Wheel by PeachTreeOath 2018-12-05T20:43:44Z

Funny premise and well executed. The music fit the game perfectly. I love the way you did Jesus' arms. Nice work!

Stranger by salyon 2018-12-03T20:46:16Z

Great artwork here and nice polish on the effects. It took me a minute to figure out why the big guy was dying, but after that I was good on how the mechanics worked. Great job!

A flight to the gallows by thomas-olsson 2018-12-03T22:02:48Z

Great polish. The visuals and sound were great and meshed together well. Very moody game and interesting story. A little slow, especially when you die and have to start over at a checkpoint. A small issue. Overall, well done!

Ritual Slaughter by Steel_Dev 2018-12-04T19:57:26Z

Interesting take on the theme. When it said I had to sacrifice 5 (5!!!) things, I knew this would be tough, and it sure was. This was an intense experience. Well done!

Mount 'n' Glory: A Glorious Grail Quest by gamesplusjames 2018-12-03T21:24:43Z

This was fun. Unfortunately after a dozen or so tries, I had to bow out of the last level. I just couldn't get there in time. I really like the mechanics, even if sacrificed followers hovering in midair doesn't make sense. I would have liked if the level didn't end until all the followers caught up with you. It's a small detail, but I think it would been a nice effect. Also, some momentum in the controls would be nice. Since most platformers have that feature, it's ingrained in my muscle memory. It was tough to learn the proper jump timings because of that.

Icy Golems by jeroenpx 2018-12-03T20:19:16Z

I'm very impressed with the polish on what you have here. The visuals are stunning. The animation and particle effects are spot on. Very nice work! The level designs are good too. At first I was confused as I thought you could only have one golem per exit slot, but then I tried it and it was fine. Overall, very good entry!

Z-Trail by oxrock 2018-12-03T19:55:48Z

I really liked the motor and brake sound effects. Nice work. This was a surprisingly charming game. All my party members died, but I had fun in the process!

Rift Plugger by Mikeliosus 2018-12-05T14:43:31Z

Graphics and audio were fantastic. Really set the mood of the game. The difficulty progression was pretty good. There did seem to be some fickleness in getting things to cover the hole. Several times I got hit because a monster came out of the hole right as I was about to fill it. Overall though, I had fun and this was well made. Good job!

Four Deities by Apace 2018-12-05T13:57:25Z

The visuals are simple, but effective and coherent. I love the sound effects. So many entries are omitting sounds and to me, sounds are needed to round out the experience. I did run into a bug (I think) where many days had passed (something like 20) and there were only two villagers. I don't know what I was doing wrong, I tried to keep the resources as even as I could. Very likely I played it wrong, but just thought I'd put that out there. Overall, this is a nice game. Good job!

BulletHealth by Rugbug_Redfern 2018-12-03T16:13:36Z

I really liked the visuals in this game. Nice work on them. I like your take on the theme, where each shot you take is a sacrifice. I would have liked a cursor reticle as aiming was pretty tricky and movement was really fast, almost too fast. Overall though, great job.

Aetherspirit by gwinnell 2018-12-03T22:17:01Z

I love the adorable aesthetic as well as the mechanics and the take on the theme. The controls were a little tricky, but manageable. I had fun playing this. Good job!

Clucked Up! by MrLeePerry 2018-12-03T20:40:23Z

I got 72! The amount of polish on this is crazy good. Nice work!

Save the little ones by acoto87 2018-12-03T22:23:22Z

The visuals are the strength of this game, they are very well done. The controls are reasonably well done, though the hitbox on the player seems like it might be a bit too big (making some of the narrow jumps was tricky). Overall, this is a solid entry. Well done!

Airtime by Virtual Turtle Studio 2018-12-04T17:06:43Z

I scored 592! This was a fun game. The graphics were cute and well done. Not much in terms of audio, but the boings were cute too. At first it was tough determining where your first little guy was going to come in from, but once I figured it out that was fine. Angle of travel was also sometimes tricky, but for most levels it was fine. Overall, very nice work!

Vampyre by SandPile 2018-12-05T20:35:31Z

I really like the mechanics here. I haven't seen anything like it before. The visuals and sound effects meshed well together and were well done. I did run into a bug where i turned into a bat, shot the dude, then jumped down to the door and when I hit the ground I turned to stone. Then I respawned on the other side of the light column and couldn't cross. Overall though, great execution!

Infiltrate by Berkin 2018-12-03T16:19:43Z

I like the idea of having to sacrifice an ability if you fail. It does make the game harder after you've already failed though, but that's not something to think about for a jam game. :)

I did have some issues with the controls. The mouse sensitivity was set far too low for me, making it hard to move the mouse and combined with the movement that went way too fast, it made the controls difficult. I also ran into a bug where I went into a wall and fell out of the world. Probably a Unity bug, but I thought I'd let you know.

Overall, nice work!

Infiltrate by Berkin 2018-12-03T17:04:34Z

@berkin I used 2560x1440 in Windowed mode. I just tried a couple other configurations and had the same issues with mouse sensitivity and and movement speed.

Sacrificio Inc. by Reality Blind 2018-12-05T20:29:24Z

This game has an astonishing level of polish. I'm very impressed. The visuals and sound are spot on. Smooth animation and gameplay as well. The implementation seems flawless. My only complaint is that the game was too easy. Amazing job!

Goatrifice by Arbosis 2018-12-04T15:41:05Z

This was a well polished game, nice work on that. The visuals were striking and the audio fit the game well. The controls were a little tricky, I think primarily because the goat's direction snapped to certain angles instead of smoothly moving with the analog stick on my controller. I really liked when the meteors started falling and would have liked to have seen some variety in the environmental effects for each wave, although I understand the time limitations. Overall, this is an impressive entry. Great work!

Not Me! by Gio- 2018-12-20T19:17:04Z

This was a really well done game. The level of polish is great and the take on the theme is unique. I have bad short term memory, so it became a struggle near the end to remember all the clues at times, but that's on me more than the game. Overall, great job!

Regain Power by shp 2018-12-04T21:13:24Z

This was a lot of fun. An impressively large map for a compo game. The sound and graphics sucked me into the world. I do wish that the ship would've crashed in the middle of the map (so I had to explore both up and down) and so that when sacrifice was needed, I didn't have to go all the way back. A minor complaint. Overall, this is a great entry!

Purgatory by omercanbalandi 2018-12-03T15:50:33Z

I like the visuals to this game and the music. I also had a hard time figuring out what I was supposed to do at first. Overall, nice work though.

Wanyudo Island by PurpledArtFrog 2018-12-05T20:51:06Z

Congrats on completing your first jam! Hopefully it won't be your last.

I found three instances of gold and there were some cows heading to the volcano. I was a bit confused. I'd recommend putting the instructions in the game play instead of on the title screen. A lot of people will either not see it or forget what it says (like me).

Anyway, great job and hope to see you next time!

Wrath of The CubeKing by teo989 2018-12-20T19:20:23Z

I like the aesthetic you have in this game, but unfortunately, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing. It was very dark and hard to see. The mouse sensitivity seemed a bit high too. The music really made me feel unsettled, so kudos for that!

Sacrifice to win by Codinggamer 2018-12-04T15:56:44Z

I really like the concept here and the pixel art was cute and effective. The platform placement when you die didn't seem to be where I would have expected it to be, so that took some getting used to. There were also some levels with the moving spikes that made it tricky because they came on screen so quickly. The sound effects were a bit harsh, but they were effective in relaying game state. Overall though, you did a nice job on this.

Ember's Light by vDovah 2018-12-05T20:40:46Z

Beautiful graphics and music. I really like the lighting effects. I was happy to see that controller was supported, but sad to see that I couldn't use the D-Pad. I prefer using the D-Pad over the analog stick for platformers. Jumping was also tricky. It seemed there was too much momentum behind the jumps. Overall though, this is a great entry.

Archibald's Snobbish Journey by Thomas_Bringer 2018-12-03T20:14:05Z

This was really great. I loved the throwbacks to previous LD themes! You had a unique take on the theme and it worked well. Nice work!

Dark Villagers by AwiX 2018-12-06T20:43:53Z

Beautiful looking and sounding game. Excellent job nailing the aesthetics and mood. I was a bit confused on what exactly I was supposed to do, so I would recommend an in-game tutorial of some sorts.

Ants by shiqichuan 2018-12-05T13:38:31Z

Wow, this was a really unique take on the theme and the mechanics were really great. I liked the graphical style, but they really didn't look like ants to me. Minor complaint really. Kudos for putting in game instructions. It really helped to figure out how things worked. Overall, great job!

Sanity Wars by JoshAnthony1990 2018-12-05T20:18:31Z

I like the aesthetics of this game. The visuals and audio went well together to really set the mood. I had some difficulty with the controls. Making some jumps were more difficult than they probably should have been. Overall though, nice work!

Just delete them by Dock Frankenstein 2018-12-20T19:23:05Z

I really like the take on the theme. The idea of playing the game outside of the game is incredible. Way to think out of the box!

Expendibots by pandan 2018-12-04T15:52:21Z

That was pretty hard! Graphics were great and controls (xbox controller) were smooth. Music and sounds worked well. Overall, great job!

Oblation by Sam Hindson 2018-12-03T20:02:48Z

Wow was this game moody! You nailed the creepy vibe you were going for. I got goosebumps from that first sacrifice. Very nicely done! Excellent first compo entry!

Death Metal Crowd Pusher by WizardOfOzzy 2018-12-06T19:50:41Z

This is awesome! The music and graphics are top notch and the game was a lot of fun. Other than lacking a title screen (which would be my only suggestion), there's nothing I can recommend changing.

Apatanat: the benefit of all. by Mike Mihe 2018-12-06T20:51:41Z

I like the graphical style you went with. The simple black and white drawings work well. Unfortunately, I walked around for 5 minutes and wasn't able to do anything. I'm sure there's something I'm missing, but nothing I tried didn't anything other than "I don't need that now." Maybe some hints or guidance for the beginning would help.

Disassembly Line by Borja 2018-12-04T19:11:18Z

Very nice graphics and sound. Reminds me a bit of my LD39 entry with the flinging of robots, although your game is much more polished. I found aiming a little bit tricky, but that might be because I'm playing on a 4k monitor and the game window was rather small. Overall, it's a fun game. Nice work!

Eldritchual by arkinrev 2018-12-03T20:56:34Z

I really like the graphics you have here and the sound as well. It did take a while to get the second recruit the first time through, but I think that's because the one doing the recruiting was unsure. This proved to be very hard and I didn't get very far, but I enjoyed my time with your game. Nice work!

Old Ways by Esosek 2018-12-04T20:31:39Z

I like the graphics, but do wish there were more. The landscape was wide open, which was good, but there was little variety in it. The concept is great and I love the idea of scooping up cows with a wheelbarrow. Overall, nice work!

Alien Escape by carlpilot 2018-12-05T13:49:40Z

The visuals here are stunning. Very well done. I would have liked to be able to open the instructions from within the game, as I have terrible short term memory and couldn't remember some of the instructions without restarting. Regardless, this is very impressive for 48 hours. Congrats!

Potty Panic by Ryan Brenner 2018-12-06T19:45:14Z

Funny idea and I love that you can pick up everything, even the appliances and the tub. The graphics and sounds were excellent. The controls were tricky to use. I would've rather seen a single button used for both picking up and throwing. Having to switch back and forth make things a bit confusing for me. Overall though, great job!

Leave Them Behind by RedE 2018-12-03T20:07:14Z

I like the mechanics, particularly the grabbing mechanic. It's not one you typically see. The visuals were consistent, although I will admit I would've liked some more personality in the characters I was controlling. The puzzles were well designed. You did a good job here, nice work.

Total Party Kill by adventureislands 2018-12-03T22:39:09Z

I love the visuals here, very well done. The music was good, but I'm not a fan of the generated sound effects. It's not specific to this game, just my personal preference in general. The mechanic was great, even though the controls were very tricky to adjust to. Overall, this is a great entry. Nice work!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Ultimate Financial Championship by Jezzamon 2019-04-30T13:13:12Z

Wow, it's a brave thing to create a multiplayer game in 48 hours. The pixel art is good, but the sounds do get grating. I'm not a fan of those sound generators, but that's just personal preference. Unfortunately there was nobody else playing when I was, so I just had to go up against the bot. I also ran into the text selection issue when clicking near the top of the screen. That might just be inevitable based on how things were implemented. A minor issue though as it didn't seem to affect anything.

Bloody Runner by DidiGameBoy 2019-04-30T15:14:16Z

I like the aesthetics of this game. The old-style visuals added a lot. I would suggest making the good items more distinguished from the bad ones though. It was tough at first to determine what I needed to avoid vs what I needed to get. Overall, great experience. Nice work.

Labyrinth of Souls by jharler 2019-04-30T21:37:04Z

I appreciate the feedback everyone. I'll play, rate and comment on all of your games this week as I have time.

@j0ye Thanks for the lofty compliments! I wanted to make this LD game more polished than my past LDs, so I spent a lot of time on modelling, sculpting and texturing. Glad you enjoyed it.

@gcttirth I made my last LD entry way too difficult, so I wanted to make sure I didn't make that same mistake this time. Unfortunately it looks like I erred too far on the side of caution this time around. I think adding another guardian to the labyrinth would have helped. Btw, there's only that one easter egg. The signs were a last minute addition and I only had time to add the one.

@mharring I wanted the chases to be heart pounding, exciting and terrifying! Thanks for the suggestion. I did add multiple difficulties (hit escape to bring up the menu) and the Easy difficulty makes you sprint longer and recover faster, but I didn't have a whole lot of time to balance it on Normal.

@topbraj Thanks again for playing and streaming. It's unfortunate that you encountered that issue. One of many I was aware of but didn't have time to fix.

@hasuman My last LD entry was too difficult and this one too easy. Next one will be just right. I appreciate you playing the game and offering feedback. Thanks!

@rancoud Yeah, next time around I'll need to spend more time balancing difficulty. That seems to be a common issue with my LD entries. Thanks!

Labyrinth of Souls by jharler 2019-05-01T16:30:12Z

@drauthius Thanks for playing, even if it's not your type of game. I appreciate the feedback.

@hasuman I've always heard that if you find your own game difficult, others will find it nearly impossible. I tried your game and it's definitely intense and hard!

@gamesplusjames Thanks again for playing on stream. It's always fun to watch you play my games!

@jofersgames I'm glad I was able to get a jump out of you! I jumped at my own game a lot during development. Kinda ridiculous actually how they can just appear out of nowhere. :)

@sholyu Thanks for the feedback. I struggled with what to do about that. I wanted to get your heart racing and induce a little bit of panic when the guardians spotted you. Music is definitely not one of my strong suits, so I appreciate the advice.

@lubaka Thanks for the kind words. I made a horror experience for LD41 that had a jump scare. I tried to make this one scary in a different way (the terror of the guardians). I'm thinking of working on this a bit more and adding some additional challenges and potential scares.

@theustweak Thanks! The game was way too easy when you didn't have to worry about how long you could run, so it was critical to the gameplay to add that. Glad you appreciated it.

@aspect I had wanted to add a feature where the map would change after every soul, so the doors and walls would be in a different place. That would have added to the difficulty I think and it's something I may add to it post-jam. Thanks for the feedback! Glad I was able to freak you out too. :)

Labyrinth of Souls by jharler 2019-05-14T22:53:06Z

@x-budsterized-x thank you! I'm glad you found it fun to mess with the AI. They are pretty dumb. :)

@pixscope I'm glad you enjoyed!

@black-potion Did they catch you? :)

@mika-la-grand I tried to keep the information the keeper was portraying to a minimum. I felt it was important to give the player all the info in the intro, because there are some people like me who don't read descriptions very thoroughly and miss important details.

@miu When you launch the game, it opens a configuration dialog. There's a tab for input configuration. You should be able to configure it to use whatever keys you prefer. Let me know if you have any trouble with it.

@elysiagriffin Thanks again for playing on stream. It was a joy to watch you play, even if it's not your standard fare.

Labyrinth of Souls by jharler 2019-05-14T22:53:39Z

@j0ye, @gcttirth, @mharrin, @topbraj, @rancoud, @hasuman, @drauthius, @gamesplusjames, @jofersgames, @sholyu, @lubaka, @theustweak, @aspect, @x-budsterized-x, @pixscope, @black-potion, @mika-la-grand, @miu, @elysiagriffin

Thank you all for playing my game! If you enjoyed it and want some more, I've spent the past two weeks creating an enhanced version of this game. I took a lot of the input you all gave me and used it to create an even more terrifying experience. You can download it from itch here:

[https://jharler.itch.io/labyrinth-of-souls-remastered](https://jharler.itch.io/labyrinth-of-souls-remastered)

If you try it, please let me know what you think of the changes. I value your feedback.

Your life is my money by squaredev 2019-05-01T11:33:14Z

Love the visuals in this. Very polished and well done. Audio was non-intrusive and fit the game well. I appreciated how the game taught me what to do through hints. I did run into a problem where one of the three pieces of wood couldn't be picked up (I only had two cows when I opened the chest), so I wasn't able to complete that mission.

Mr Moneybag by managore 2019-04-30T13:37:18Z

Having attempted my own dungeon generator in a LD, you have my respect for doing that and everything else in 15 hours. I think you have a solid mechanic here and it would work as a full game if further developed. Audio would do a lot, of course, but the foundation is solid. My only criticism would be the movement felt a little sluggish. Overall, great design.

Tough Business by dusho 2019-04-30T15:05:25Z

Interesting take on the theme. I liked the common place items that gave you stat boosts. Never thought I'd pay 4 gold for a fork. I was concerned about my health until I got a health syringe and was excited to use it, right up until it went to my enemy. I didn't know I had to click on myself first! Oh well, my last point of life didn't last long after that. My primary suggestion would be to make it more obvious you need to highlight yourself before using health, or just make it default to use it on you. Is there ever a reason to use it on your enemy?

Town of Currency by Drauthius 2019-05-01T16:02:47Z

Interesting take on the theme, good way to think outside the box. This is a fun game. I didn't last very long, but I had fun playing. One hit kill is pretty brutal. I wish I had at least a few hit points, but that's not a deal breaker. The voiceover seemed a bit loud and had some static, so it was harsh in my headphones. Other than that, this was a pleasant experience.

Robber & Robert by LiquidBrain 2019-04-30T14:11:26Z

^ this. This game was well done. More than once I laughed and it was really clever the way you explained the mechanics with the narration. One suggestion I have is to make sure the text that lines up with the voiceover is fully visible. Having the text half faded as it was scrolling up was distracting when trying to read with the voice.

Dirty Cash by Robber 2019-04-30T21:20:50Z

This is a very polished experience. The visuals are stunning and audio is great too. I'm not very good with this type of control system, but that's on me, not the game. I love the uniqueness of the idea and you executed the mechanic very well. Great job!

Devil's Death Collector by gamesplusjames 2019-04-30T11:55:43Z

Great entry James. The models look great and are smoothly animated. I love the aesthetics and overall feel of the game. I did have some trouble with controls. The free mouse look took a while to get used to. I think this game would have been fine having the camera locked behind the player, or maybe just move on the horizontal axis. It's a very hard game. It took me quite a while to find the first person and I wasn't able to find the second. I think the reason why it's so difficult is because the people are constantly moving, making it impossible to scan by area. It might just be me and my incompetency though. :)

Bakra Battle by pranjalbisht 2019-05-01T12:01:54Z

Excellent graphics and audio here! Very polished and nice. Great use of the theme. Unfortunately I don't have anyone to test with, but my left hand most definitely defeated my right hand. Great work!

What do YOU want? by Ever 2019-05-01T16:13:24Z

This was pretty great. The visuals were extremely well done and consistent throughout. The music was soothing and surprisingly fitting for the game. It was a good challenge. I ultimately failed, but I made it pretty far I think. Overall, really well done. I like the innovating you did here, and feel that the instructions still left things pretty confusing. It took me a few deals before I started to understand exactly what was going on.

LIFEBLASTER by gwinnell 2019-04-30T12:26:19Z

Kudos for using your own custom engine. I've done so myself in past LDs, so I know the frustration that can come from that. I really enjoyed this game. The art was well done and the audio fit the game. Mouse sensitivity was a bit high which made control difficult and I didn't notice any indicator telling me an enemy was close by. I died a lot not knowing what actually hit me. I also don't know if it's possible, but having the game resize with the browser would be a nice feature to offer. I have a 4k monitor and the game was very tiny. Overall, well done!

The Joy of Creationism with God Ross by AndideBob 2019-05-01T11:15:49Z

I placed some happy little trees! Such a soothing, relaxing experience. The atmosphere was excellent. The visuals were great and the music so, so smooth. Really my only complaint was the rotation of the planet was kinda tricky to get right where you wanted it (I wanted to follow a human to watch it get eaten by a bear). It would have been nice to be able to select an object on the planet and have the camera automatically follow it.

Life is Currency by Rancoud 2019-04-30T15:48:38Z

Very cool visuals here, nicely done. I like the creepy atmosphere. It wasn't immediately obvious what I needed to do, but I enjoyed the experience. I've made a creepy horror-like game for this LD as well if you want to check it out.

Orb of Life by gcttirth 2019-05-01T15:04:27Z

I like the look of this game, so good job on the environment. It wasn't immediately obvious what I was supposed to do. I tend to not read instructions before trying a game so I can get an idea of how intuitive things are. Once I figured out what I was supposed to do, it went better. The game is really hard though, so a good challenge. I would recommend making the enemies different from the things that help you (and you yourself). Maybe having them be dark and menacing or something like that (some neat shader effect) would help identify them immediately as a threat.

Survive the Heist by Ashtrail 2019-05-01T13:02:43Z

Tango is a bad bad man. I enjoyed the black and white graphics and felt it suited the story pretty well. The story was engaging and well done. Unfortunately everyone died during the swat raid. Well done!

Courtyard Madness by X Budsterized X 2019-05-01T16:23:30Z

I really like the visuals and the sound effects. They felt well suited for the type of game this is. The controls were pretty good. I did find it strange that I couldn't fire "downhill" or across gaps (like the stairs). It felt unfair sometimes when the enemies spawned right on top of me. I didn't have enough time to get to safety and avoid taking damage. Overall though, this is pretty solid. Nice work.

Necroxeon by Lyrcaxis 2019-04-30T14:18:15Z

The first thing that struck me was how nice the music and ambiance of the game was. The visuals are striking as well. I especially liked the menu background. The game is really hard though, so I didn't survive very long. Great job!

A Lively Village by blednaya 2019-04-30T19:24:24Z

Unfortunately for me I wasn't able to hear any audio (Unreal games seem to be screwing with my Vive and causing audio issues), so I refrained from voting on audio. The visuals though, worked great and were very nice. I like how things changed after each event and the events themselves were fun. I did run into the same one 3 or 4 times (the fight club one) and actually got it twice in a row once. I also didn't notice any indication of progress being made or lost.

Lifelust by MateusBoga 2019-05-01T11:23:59Z

Excellent graphics and music in this entry, they are both very polished and well done. The gameplay is solid, although getting the timing down on when to swing in order to strike first was difficult to nail, although that might just be my lack of skill. Overall, extremely impressive. Nice work!

Snots Quest by Lodugh 2019-05-01T13:40:40Z

I like the atmosphere in this game. Pretty spooky, although it was maybe too dark and hard to see. Controls felt pretty good until I got to the wall that required wall jumps. I just couldn't get it to work. Maybe I'm losing hand-eye coordination in my old age. Not sure. Also, the opening cut scenes went by too fast. I barely had time to read them before the next screen popped up.

Kat's Flowery Fever Dream by topbraj 2019-04-30T13:47:55Z

I wasn't sure what to expect when I read that I was a beautiful flower, but you've created a pretty addictive experience here. A fantastic use of theme and very well executed. The visuals are simple, but clear and to the point. The music was soothing and the sound effects appropriate (I like the "not enough funds" sound). My only issue is I had some problems with the UI of selecting the color I wanted (I had to click more than twice sometimes). Overall, great job!

Hunkules' Gauntlet by JavaSaurus 2019-04-30T13:56:26Z

I laughed at "Run awesomeness", felt like a god when my enemies were fleeing from my ax and felt bad when the game called me a wuss, haha. Great experience. The controls were a bit tricky though, as I typically use WASD for control but that wasn't possible with having to use V for attack. The arrow keys worked fine, but I would've preferred the up arrow jumping rather than space.

Just in Time by RocketRaccoons 2019-05-01T11:46:40Z

Congrats on completely your game and submitting! The visuals were pretty good and it was clear what was happening. I agree with the commenter above that the default walk speed could be a bit faster, but you do offer unlocks for sprinting, so maybe that's not necessary. I ran into a problem where I fell down the hole and landed on an enemy. It didn't harm me, but I couldn't hit it and couldn't drop down beside it or jump out, so I was stuck.

Ente by J0ye 2019-05-01T13:54:18Z

I liked the one bit art style, and loved the sound of the waves in the background. It's easy to get lost in the command line if you don't read the instructions like I did the first time around. Once I read the instructions though, it was pretty straight forward. Great execution and interesting take on the theme. Nice work.

Coin Puzzles by Mika la Grand 2019-05-14T16:45:54Z

Great use of theme! I really enjoyed this. The platforming was solid, although the rules governing interacting required me to check the instruction a couple of times. No big deal though, but maybe some feedback if you try to push the button and can't ("You're too heavy", "No enough coins"), so the player doesn't have to take their eyes outside of the game to figure out what to do. Overall though, very enjoyable and nice work!

Blood Money by kristinamay 2019-04-30T14:27:21Z

Interesting commentary on capitalism. I ran through it a couple of times, though I got the same ending both times. Might come back to it to see what else is there. My only suggestion would be to have the options reappear at the bottom of the new text instead of having to scroll back up to choose a new option. That confused me for a moment.

TREASURE ROOM by jutjuan 2019-05-01T12:48:05Z

Congrats on completing your first game jam! Welcome to the addiction.

First round I thought, "hey, this is pretty easy" but it ramped up quick. Couldn't get past the third round. The pixel art is nice and the audio well suited. I do think that after each round the value per life point should go up, as it seems it would take many many rounds to reach the 1000g goal. Or maybe offer some method of increasing your strength/durability as each round progresses (like an option to buy upgrades with some of that gold). Regardless, this was a fun entry, nice work!

Mosquito Hunter by mharring 2019-05-01T15:32:41Z

This is a fun game. I felt a thrill when I discovered the tongue stuck to the blocks and I could swing. Great detail. The visuals are pleasing and well done. My only issue was when trying to extend my tongue up and to the side while in mid air it didn't seem to place the tongue where I wanted it to (it seems that when I push the button, a point in space is selected and that's where the tongue goes to, instead of traveling with the frog as he's moving through the air). Overall though, this was a fun experience.

Blood Legacy by Magnanix 2019-05-01T11:40:17Z

Excellent work on the models and animations. I can appreciate the amount of work it takes to do something like that as a sole developer. My only criticism is that I didn't care for the fact that the enemies moved faster instead of slower after being hit. I'd prefer it be the other way around. Overall though, this is a great entry.

HackZ Memories by Black Potion 2019-05-14T16:41:11Z

I really like the direction you took the theme here. The graphics were simple, but well suited and I really liked the video overlay effects. Mechanics were simple, but deep enough to add significant strategy to the game. Very well done!

obsessed by Oktarian 2019-04-30T15:24:02Z

I really like the music in this. Very immersive and well done. I like the rewind mechanic, though it seemed to not work as expected sometimes (i could walk on a few spikes after it happened once). Maybe that's by design and I missed the point. I stored 168. Don't know if that's good or not.

Heartful Decisions by Lubaka 2019-05-01T16:18:00Z

I like the environment you created here and the various virus models must have taken a good bit of time. Nice work on that. The controls were pretty easy to figure out. I think some additional feedback on whether you're making the right decision on things could be useful. It felt pretty random and I wasn't sure if I was making good decisions or not. Some nice ambient sounds or music would've enhanced the experience a lot. Overall, I think this is a good entry. I managed to live 17 years!

Blood and goods by selewi 2019-04-30T21:27:14Z

This is pretty fantastic. The art, sounds, music, effects are all top notch and very well polished. My only complaint is the difficulty ramps up quickly. I would've liked to encountered easier enemies for a while to grow accustomed to the controls and how the game works.

The Money Hole by miu 2019-05-14T16:51:32Z

Very cool game. I liked the story, even though it was a bit far fetched. Tied in nicely with the theme. I understand that English obviously isn't your native language and I have a lot of respect for you for knowing more than one language, but some of the broken grammar drew me out of the story. Other than that, everything was great. Nice work!

Breaker by Hasuman 2019-05-01T15:54:09Z

The visuals here are stunning, very well done! The sound effects were good too. The feedback and juice in general were well suited and makes this a very well polished entry. I did fine on the first level, as I was able to find a bottle neck area to hole up in. The second level, not so much. I got demolished. I really like how you added the instructions to the game world. Helps those of us who don't read the instructions beforehand.

Seeds Of Life by PixScope 2019-05-14T16:35:38Z

I like the cute graphics and the thematic elements. Life giving crops giving their life to protect their crops. :)

I too killed myself several times before realizing what I needed to do. The instructions were clear, but I imagine most people won't read a paragraph of text. Maybe try to fit a mini tutorial in the gameplay and not allowing the player to kill themselves immediately could improve the intuitiveness. Overall though, great entry and nice work!

The Ball's Path by EricRou 2019-05-01T12:09:14Z

Congrats on completing your entry. The visuals were simple, but were good enough to represent what was needed. The humor was good, nice work on that. I ran into an issue with the stairs. It was hard to judge distance, so I fell through the gaps a couple times. The second time I landed on something but couldn't see because the stairs were in the way, so I had to exit out.

LD45 — Start with nothing

gaarden by Jezzamon 2019-10-08T14:48:35Z

This is very zen. I love the minimalism about it and the sounds are soothing. At least until you have a lot of giants growing trees. Then it gets slightly chaotic. :)

Very nicely done.

Chronicles of the Mattock by NickZangus 2019-10-08T15:04:32Z

"Are you milking a tree?" "Yes, of course. I'm a vegan" ROFL! That literally made me laugh out loud. Nice touch.

I really enjoyed this. The visuals were stunning and the humor great. The music and sound effects were well chosen. I did find it annoying that walking on the blade of a fallen skeleton hurt me. It took me a moment to realize where the damage was coming from. Overall though, an excellent entry!

Juicefruit Orchard by reheated 2019-10-09T19:49:15Z

"The old days before we were disembodied heads" ROFL. That was excellent. This is a very creative game that was a lot of fun to play. The visuals were great and the audio amazing. I do have to say, after the first level of shake, it became too much. I had to leave it at 2. I did max everything out before paying off the debt and tried it and 5/5 is insane. Also, I don't think I had to receive the instructions on what happens after harvest every time. The first time, yeah, makes sense, but after that it was intrusive. Also, it was a little tedious dragging stuff to sell it. Other than those minor complaints, I think this is a fantastic game. Great job!

Kobold Simulator by someone 2019-10-14T13:25:58Z

Congratulations on writing an engine capable of this. I too have used a custom C++ game engine for LD in the past and know all too well fixing problems deep in the engine just to continue working on your entry. Take the knowledge you gained from this experience to improve it. Next time will be better.

I like the concept and what you have here. It was a bit annoying to finally get something by those grabby villagers only to have them walk all the way to my cave to take it back. How dare they?! Overall, you did a good job here. Congrats!

Slay the Dungeon by jharler 2019-10-08T15:33:57Z

@hi-im-greg Yes, there is a final boss. It takes a while to get to it (there's 26 different levels I think) and unfortunately I didn't have much time to make him very interesting or challenging. Typically when you get to him you're so strong you kill him pretty easily (once you figure out how to do it). I'm glad you enjoyed my sound effects. They were fun to make!

Slay the Dungeon by jharler 2019-10-08T19:16:21Z

@shigor Thanks! I'm glad you like it enough to want to come back for more. My hope was that the game would have some replay value.

@excy Awesome! I agree that the temporary room cards are less desirable. I think some cost tweaking might make it more of a difficult decision. I didn't spend a whole lot of time on balance. I've been having a lot of ideas for cards and effects that would make the game even better. I think I will need to develop this into a full game. I think it has a ton of potential. The bomb pooper (which is what I referred to him in the code) is my favorite enemy. The animation and sound effects were a lot of fun to make. I cracked up laughing the first time I saw him all together.

Slay the Dungeon by jharler 2019-10-08T20:06:17Z

@digital-pie Thanks! I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to even get the boss in the game. An hour before deadline I had to rig, animate and code him in. I barely made it. I do agree though that some kind of progress indication would be useful.

@cax Just one guy, but thanks! I'm glad you like it.

Slay the Dungeon by jharler 2019-10-09T20:09:41Z

@pokenoufl Glad you enjoyed it and sorry about that bug! Physics can be wonky sometimes. I had to make the enemies strong at the start so they wouldn't be too wimpy once you've gotten a few upgrades. It was tough to balance that.

@stefanie-leitch Thanks! You need to have a key to open a chest. Glad you liked the bomb pooper! He's my favorite. I made all stats a bit low at start so you had to choose which stats you wanted to enhance through cards.

@t-bo Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.

@mattdotam If it makes you feel any better, those slugs smell really, really bad. They burn your nose. :)

@leonard-graf Thanks for playing it to the end!

@reheated Thanks for the detailed comment. I agree with your criticism. It could use a lot of balancing and a progress indicator. I just ran out of time. I'm considering fleshing this out into a full game, so we'll see how that goes.

@drjeebus Yeah, the physics causes them to do that sometimes. I probably could've fixed it by tweaking the bounding boxes, but I didn't encounter that bug myself until after submission.

@asterisk Thanks for your input. I made movement slow on purpose, but maybe I went a little too far with it. I wanted it to be a hard choice for you to decide which stats you wanted to upgrade. A healthbar would be nice, and I agree, I just didn't have time for anything like that.

@chelog I'm glad you liked the characters and animation! They were a lot of fun to make. Agreed on the speed problem.

@game-mon Thank you!

@aozo Some runs are better than others when it comes to loot drops. Sorry to hear your run was on the lower end. Thanks for playing and commenting though.

Rude Bear Refurbished by alexrose 2019-10-11T19:51:08Z

Funny game! I'm glad I had a controller. I don't think I could've played very well on the keyboard. Great stylized graphics. Interesting story. Nice work.

VOID by Almax 2019-10-08T14:19:45Z

The visuals were stunning. Very nice work. It wasn't obvious at first how the card mechanics worked (it seemed unintuitive to drag an attack card onto my own units), but I was able to figure it out after a minute or so. I do think you need to have a separate download for the post-jam version. You aren't being rated on audio, but music and sound makes a big difference to mood, which you are being rated on.

Liam Dehaudt's EPIC Life Simulator by pokenoufl 2019-10-09T19:02:17Z

New start at N.O.T.H.I.N.G. Ltd. by Shigor 2019-10-08T19:12:13Z

I like the take on the theme. I wonder what the acronym stands for? :)

Great job with the RPG. The character was kind of fiddly to control with the keyboard, but not bad enough to detract from the gameplay. Nice work!

New start at N.O.T.H.I.N.G. Ltd. by Shigor 2019-10-08T20:04:31Z

Orudo Taima by thomas-olsson 2019-10-08T14:30:41Z

Wow, the entire aesthetic of this game is spot on. Extremely polished and well done. The controls were responsive, although slightly confusing with the arrow keys and WASD not working the same way (and not always being interchangeable depending on where you are in the game). Overall, this is incredible work. Nice job!

The Nothings by Stefanie Leitch 2019-10-09T19:13:10Z

I became something! This was a great little game. I enjoyed my time playing it. It wasn't immediately obvious that I needed to touch the sad things to engage in combat, so I struggled for a few minutes to gain enough confidence. Once I realized what I needed to do, I gained confidence pretty quick. Well done!

Revelator by gamesplusjames 2019-10-08T14:55:46Z

Excellent job James! I love the creative use of the arkanoid/breakout mechanics. The visuals are stunning and the audio matches up nicely. I did run into a problem where I wasn't able to fire any more balls. I don't know if there is a set number of attempts you have or if it was a bug. Either way, I was stuck. Wow, just saw you did this in 12 hours. Even more impressive!

A Simple Cube by Xenation 2019-10-08T19:24:30Z

I like the concept of this game. I love the simple but effective visuals and the polish you put on them. I did struggle a bit with controlling the cube. It seemed like it would more difficult than it should've been to get the cube where I wanted it. Overall though, I really like the game. Nice work!

PixelGod by SvartTand 2019-10-09T12:46:33Z

I'm impressed with this. There's a lot of depth here and the liquid simulation is pretty good! This is definitely something you could play over and over. Nice job!

Deal with your Death by nikchernyakov 2019-10-28T21:49:41Z

I love the visuals in this game. The particles are on point. The animation when harvesting resources was a little jerky, but it didn't take away from the experience. Great job!

Time Shelter by Max S. 2019-10-08T16:37:31Z

This was pretty intense. You did a great job setting the mood in this one. At first I thought it was just going to be a standard platformer until that purple rift appeared. Oh boy. Great job!

CocoBall by blitzcloud 2019-10-09T19:57:23Z

Superb modeling, texturing and animating here. Seriously great job. I'm unfortunately unable to test with another person, but my left hand crushed my right hand. My one input would be to make the rounds a little shorter. Maybe 60 or 90 seconds. Great job!

Penniless S.O.L.D.I.E.R. by Meoanar 2019-10-28T21:56:38Z

I enjoyed this. The controls were well done and simple enough to pick up quickly. Graphics were good. Audio was ok, I'm not a big fan of the automatically generated sounds, but that's just personal preference. Nice work on this.

AMaze by Zhorky 2019-10-09T12:50:46Z

I like the idea of this game, where the maze is hidden until you touch a wall. I didn't like the fact that the walls disappeared again after a while. To me it removed the feeling of progression. Overall though cool design and good implementation.

Good Brew by MrBlue 2019-10-08T14:09:42Z

Everything worked as it should and was pretty intuitive. Obviously audio cues would've been nice, but sometimes there just isn't enough time! :) I would recommend making some sort of visual indicator when you've successfully placed an item where it's supposed to go. At first, I wasn't sure if it was registering the items I placed. Overall, nice work.

The beginning of the end by Thomas_Bringer 2019-10-28T21:53:54Z

I really like the visuals of this game. It's playful and well done. The audio is charming as well. Control was a little tricky and I often moved in a direction I didn't intent to. Overall though, this is a great entry.

The Adventures of Hugh Mahn Through Time by Ninnec 2019-10-08T15:31:49Z

Nothing is my car ! by T-Bo 2019-10-09T19:18:02Z

This is hilarious. I love the idea and you did a great job implementing it. The only issue I had was the collision seemed a little off. I maneuvered into a lane after a car passed and it felt like I should have safely made it, but unfortunately I crashed. Maybe it was just bad judgement, but I thought I had let enough time pass to safely get in the lane. Great job!

Ships, Sharks and Shanties by Grangerer 2019-10-08T16:44:21Z

Wow this is tough! I didn't make it very far, but I had a good time trying. The visuals are great here. I wish my harpoon went a little bit further!

POLYMON by PIXAMENTORY 2019-10-14T13:21:25Z

Very interesting concept and take on the theme. The music was fun and so was seeing all the jumping shapes. Controls were a little tricky for me and sometimes judging where you were in relation to other shapes was difficult. That might just be a lack of skill though. Good job!

Hunt and Gather by Gaz_Ireland 2019-10-08T16:29:55Z

Congrats on submitting! I liked the models. 3D isn't easy, but you did a good job. I would've liked to have some sort of visual indicator to tell me which unit I had selected. Progress bar indicators on the resources as they were being gathered would be great too. Alas, a weekend is too short a time to get all the features we want into our games! Nice work!

Village Simulation Game by JoeShanahan 2019-10-09T12:37:04Z

Great graphics and suitable audio here. This was a very ambitious project for a jam. Congrats on what you were able to accomplish. This is something you could really get lost in for a long time. Nice work!

Medieval Mayhem by itsTripp 2019-10-09T20:01:30Z

Looks like a lot of work went into this one! Great atmosphere. I did encounter some enemies going into the walls. It was kinda funny to watch the two headed dog run into the wall, literally. Nice work!

Fit the Sticky by Leonard Graf 2019-10-09T19:25:13Z

I really enjoyed this, although I wasn't able to stay small enough to get through the end. Collecting the cows on you is hilarious and I love the idea. Great job!

Nothing For Heaven by Xotsu 2019-10-08T15:53:58Z

The backgrounds and environment on this are stunning! Very well done. I'm not a fan of the controls. I struggled to put the character where I wanted it and died a lot because of that. It looks like it was an ambitious project. Nice work!

Wipe It by BarracudaDisaster 2019-10-11T19:26:50Z

This was hilarious. I love the art and the humor. The controls left me frustrated though. Maybe I just didn't understand them properly. Regardless, great job!

factorAway by TheJebForge 2019-10-11T11:15:34Z

I'm getting a very strong Infinitfactory vibe here. Very well done. I love the minimalist visual and audio style. Very well done! I wish there was a way to rotate blocks that were already placed though. A few times I mistakenly placed the block incorrectly and had to destroy and replace. Just a minor gripe really.

Flourish by Corrade 2019-10-09T12:53:53Z

I love the visuals here and the sound effects were superb. This was a very interesting concept as well. Great work!

Nothin' To Muffin by SP3sheep 2019-10-08T15:27:50Z

At first I thought I had to follow the road to the store and was confused when I couldn't go very far. That's when I figured out it was like Crossy Road and I had to go up and avoid the obstacles. Nicely done! The gameplay works well. I would recommend some fine tuning of the controls. They felt a bit floaty. Nothing that I couldn't compensate for and overall it didn't really detract from the experience, it was just something I noted.

Congrats on your first LD entry. Good job!

Summoning Soup by Digital_Pie 2019-10-08T20:03:30Z

There's something wrong with this. I start the game and it's in the top left corner of my screen, so I'm only seeing a quarter of the game screen. I've never seen this before and I wasn't able to get it to move. I'll refrain from rating, but the game looked incredible from what I could see!

Return to Nothing by SageWare 2019-10-08T15:48:03Z

I like that you took the theme literally. Everything from nothing. There's something disturbing about being able to destroy a planet with a single click. It was like billions of souls crying out... Nice work!

Polterheist by Cral 2019-10-08T19:19:56Z

Great atmosphere! I love the pixel art and the audio goes well with the game. I laughed a few times too, so kudos for the humor. Great work!

Stylemancer by mattdotam 2019-10-09T19:22:33Z

Wow, very imaginative and innovative! I enjoyed that a lot. I did notice an animation glitch when you pushed up against a wall, but that's a minor complaint. Overall, you did a great job!

After scrapping by Alexsogge 2019-10-28T21:44:21Z

I will echo the other sentiments here stating the controls were tricky. I did find it a bit frustrating to control. Overall though, this is an interesting idea and the graphics were well done.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Its Adventure by recursor 2020-04-23T17:59:10Z

I really like the idea behind this. I had a little problem with controls (the pause at the end of a jump kept throwing me off), but I really like the idea of using typed words to bring assistance to the player. Nice work!

Flower Power by jharler 2020-04-23T12:24:23Z

@jakobthequizguy Thanks for your kind words, as well as your criticism. You're absolutely right about the music transition. It's definitely an area that could use some improvement.

@generalsturgeon Thank you!

@karas It went against my own instincts not to add more challenge to the game. That may have been one of the more difficult parts of this jam for me. :)

@rigdonware I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks!

@barbiche My kids really enjoyed playing this, so I feel like it was a success. There actually is an indicator arrow of where the monster is when you get far enough away from him. It might be too subtle though, if you didn't notice it.

@marcusnystrand Thanks!

@danilo-sadzinski I appreciate your kind words!

@codekiw Thanks so much!

@gamesplusjames Thanks for playing James! I'm glad you had fun with it.

Flower Power by jharler 2020-04-24T16:07:55Z

@wakobu Thank you!

@zerohbeat That run animation made my 6 year old ROFL when he first saw it. Glad you like it too!

@thedoctoroftime It's easier for me to make decent looking 3D graphics than decent looking 2D graphics. Thanks for your kind words and for taking the time to play!

GNAT#46 by arowx 2020-04-23T17:52:58Z

Nice retro space shooter! I was thrown off by the controls a bit, as they were inverted from what I'm used to, but I was able to adapt and enjoy the game.

Dunkman by congusbongus 2020-04-23T12:08:24Z

Very nice! I wasn't sure about things when I first started. Things were too easy, but then multiple guys started coming in swinging their crazy arms. I started laughing and having fun. This is a great game. Incredibly innovative. Nice work!

The Last Primpy by gamesplusjames 2020-04-23T11:44:15Z

This is awesome. I'm very impressed you managed to get all this done by yourself. I don't have any real criticism, and the only thing I didn't care for was the number of enemies on the final level. It seemed to drag on just a bit longer than it should have. Oh, and the primpies at the end were all a bit creepy, just sitting there staring into my soul... Other than that, I have nothing but good things to say. Great work!

MACHINA by Harry Alissavakis 2020-04-23T11:53:52Z

What a gorgeous game. I love the aesthetics. It's incredibly polished. Very impressive! You've also managed to create a solid puzzle game under that beautiful exterior. Excellent all around!

VAMP by gwinnell 2020-04-20T20:33:29Z

Congrats on submitting a game using your own custom engine. I've done that in the past and it isn't easy. Kudos as well for having an HTML5 version with a C++ game engine. Nice work.

As for the game, it a pretty smooth experience. That "mmmm" sound after attacking a guy was a bit too sensual for me, but it was good comedic relief. The mouse sensitivity was a bit high for me, so controlling where I was going took a bit longer than I would have liked. Overall though, everything worked well and was fun up until I got shot by a silver bullet.

Life On Mars by Yorsh 2020-04-22T17:19:25Z

This is great. I love the animation of the alien, and the idea is hilarious. It's easy to understand what you need to do, but still challenging. Nice work!

Feed Me! by caeonosphere 2020-04-23T12:33:29Z

This was both creepy and adorable, in good ways. The visuals were great and the music made the whole experience surreal and uneasy. My only complaint is that the character controller seemed a bit off. I'm not sure exactly what it was, but it just didn't seem as smooth as I would expect. Otherwise, nice work!

Raid Healer Simulator by fydar 2020-04-22T17:23:28Z

Not being an MMO player, I felt a bit lost. I wasn't sure what I needed to do at first, though eventually I got the hang of it. Everything was well executed and I apologize for my teammates for being such a poor healer. :(

Save My Grandparents by Rob Avery 2020-04-21T16:37:04Z

It's hard to keep Grandma and Grandpa alive when they seek out destruction! Fun little game. Controls were a bit touchy and it would have been nice if my shots went through Grandma and Grandpa instead of pushing them. It was tough when they were shot to the edge of the screen. I was never able to get them away from the edge after that and death followed close behind.

It's Not Rocket Science by Gallahron 2020-04-23T11:57:21Z

Very interesting gravity mechanic and I love the simple visuals. Very well done!

Precious Animals by despdair 2020-04-22T17:15:11Z

Well executed, although incredibly difficult. I can't seem to last very long. I think it's because there doesn't seem to be a way to anticipate the attacks. They just come and if the enemy is too close, you don't stand a chance. Nice work.

Super Survival Ball by Quinn_Patrick 2020-04-21T16:46:21Z

I really enjoyed playing this. There were a few things I didn't like. Most of the time I lost a ball was when my mouse went outside the browser window. Not a big deal, but if you were able to capture the input somehow that would be ideal. Second, it's impossible to read the text while juggling more than a couple balls. Having something with immediate visual impact would make it more obvious what's happening and still allow you to keep your eyes on the balls. Overall, I could see myself losing a lot of time entranced by this game. Nice work!

Pyrokidiac by Emmanuel Gaillot 2020-04-22T17:11:08Z

I like the modern take on the retro games. Took me back to my childhood road trips annoying my parents with those persistent beeps. :)

I think if you would have placed the wood on the screen, it would have been more obvious as to what you were trying to do. Keep in mind, most people either skim or skip instructions altogether. So either make them fun to read, or integrate them into the gameplay somehow. Overall though, nice work on this.

LifeLine - Music Pattern Obstacle Dodge by WZQXRYS 2020-04-23T12:05:44Z

Wow, amazingly trippy, but in a good way! Very innovative too and I'm impressed that the music was procedurally generated. Is there a way to lose this game? Things got VERY fast and I kept hitting the red spikes but there didn't seem to be any way to lose. I just reached the end. Anyway, great job!

Keep It Alive Game by ZerohBeat 2020-04-23T12:11:48Z

Congrats on completing your first Ludum Dare. Welcome to the addiction! I really liked the way this game started. It was confusing, but intriguing at the same time. Hope to see you again in future LDs!

Henry and Alan by TheDoctorOfTime 2020-04-23T12:01:05Z

"Dang it. Dang it. Dang it." That was me, playing this game, narrowly missed platforms. It wasn't because of the game, but because of my inability to time my jumps right. This was difficult, but in a good way. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would at first. Very addictive. Nice work!

Stand Still by Draelent 2020-04-21T16:39:17Z

Not bad for 7 hours! This was very challenging. I think a slightly smaller hitbox on the guy would've been nice. It seemed really hard to stop between the falling blocks without going slightly too far. Overall, impressive for the short amount of time.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Rail Gun by jharler 2020-10-06T15:36:02Z

@gingerbill Thanks for playing and your feedback. The green "dice" (what they're called in the game code) have an icosphere collider which makes them interesting to try to maneuver. I spent a good deal of time refining them. They were much more difficult at first.

@lucy Thanks for the feedback and for early play testing. Your feedback was invaluable!

@bobparis75 Thanks!

@gurrg Thanks for your feedback. I was worried the music would be annoying, which is why I added the ability to turn it off. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

@mechord-and-mechoh Thanks! I hope it wasn't too hard for you.

@juegoman Thanks for the kind words.

@vivien-fargette Thanks! After over a dozen game jams, I've learned the importance of teaching in-game. :)

@lamasaurus I always like making games my kids can play, and I'm glad someone else appreciate the non-violent shooter aspect as well. Congrats on completing the game! I didn't try to test the min/max speed of the rail, so that's funny.

@quinn-patrick Thanks for the feedback. I feel music/audio is my weakest area when it comes to gamedev, so I'm trying to improve, but I understand your feelings about the loop. I don't spend as much time on the music as I probably should. I will note that I had the player moving much slower at first (thinking the game would be too hard if it were faster), but early play testing showed I should speed it up, so I doubled the default speed on most levels.

@pincushion Thanks for your feedback!

@neonjeff Fun fact, I began the design with the idea that you would move the gun manually with left/right, but that seemed too easy. I felt having the gun move automatically suited the theme better as well.

@wiredsound Thanks!

@gamepopper I really like this aesthetic as well, and as a bonus, it's easy to do! For someone like myself that lacks in art skills, it's a good option. Thanks for your input!

@peeweek Congrats on completing the game! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

@tomh Thanks!

@garys You're right that you can just send the objects on their way moving and most of the time they'll find their way into the target. My 6 year old was able to complete the game because of that. However, you won't get a very good time or a good low shot count if you do that. If you play with the intention of minimizing shots and getting a good time, it becomes a much different experience.

@3mpty I'm glad you like the look and that I was able to surprise you with the mechanics. Thanks for playing!

@jrevel Thanks for your kind words.

@nonozuchu Thanks!

Rail Gun by jharler 2020-10-14T19:22:38Z

@los Thank you!

@kpedatte I'm glad you liked it, thanks!

@humphreysmedia I noticed that issue with the bullet origin too but couldn't afford to spend too much time on it. The math was right and at slower speeds seemed to be placed appropriately, so I don't know. I didn't think it detracted too much from the experience.

@hoolop Haha, next up, ludicrous speed!

@drsnowdude Thanks!

@gamesplusjames Always nice to get your feedback James. I'm glad you enjoyed!

@gwinnell I love me some good bloom. It seems to be an easy win for programmer art. Hopefully next time you'll be able to get it to work. I personally know the struggles that come with jamming with your own engine. I had considered adding hazards, but ultimately didn't want to add too much complexity and decided just to polish the mechanics I had. I'm considering fleshing this out into a full game. There's a lot of potential with the base mechanic here.

@arkinrev Nice job! I'm glad you found my game enjoyable. Thanks for playing.

Twist Turn Shoot Burn by gamepopper 2020-10-08T18:57:23Z

This is a pretty intense game. Trying to keep the controls straight in my head to get the guy to do what I wanted was a real challenge. I don't know if that's a flaw though, as it definitely lended to the challenge of the game. The visuals/audio are great and the tutorial at start while simple, was spot on and very helpful. Nice work!

RING LANCER by juegoman 2020-10-07T19:56:56Z

Great game. I would have liked to see health pickups. I got to 33k points and then died! I'll have to try again later to hit that 40k threshold and see what surprise is in store.

Looping Stuck by peeweek 2020-10-05T18:26:36Z

The use of light here is excellent. The controls were intuitive and precise. The story is personally relatable, and chilling. Nicely done!

Hyperbolic Space Fighters Extreme! by gingerBill 2020-10-05T17:36:49Z

This is definitely mind-bending. Fantastic visuals and a very intriguing concept. It's difficult to determine where you are and where your shots will go, but that's also what makes it interesting. I think some sound effects would have gone a long way, even just simple ones for shots and exploding polygons.

Free The Rollies! by gamesplusjames 2020-10-08T18:40:00Z

This was a great game! Reminded me a lot of Mouse Trap. It was very polished and other than some minor wonky physics, everything worked great.

Hyperloop hell by Aterlamia 2020-10-05T18:36:56Z

Boom, I blew up. I like the pixel art and the music was pretty catchy. It's nice to see a good story. The "x" to interact was a little buggy and the pixel font was hard to read at times, but other than that, this was a great experience. Nice work!

Crypt Loop by Los 2020-10-08T20:03:13Z

This is a very clever puzzle mechanic that fits the theme very well. Be careful with using colors as identifiers though, as a significant portion of people are color blind and may not be able to distinguish colors very well. I think in this particular case it's fine, as you get visual feedback on what you're manipulating, but it could pose a challenge.

Loop Frogs by GaryS 2020-10-08T19:09:53Z

This is a great game. The puzzles were well designed and I really liked the looping mechanic. One thing I didn't like was that on the jet flame traps, the brown frog was killed by touching them even if they were being disabled by the green frog. My expectations were that once disabled, the entire thing was harmless.

SPACELOOP by gwinnell 2020-10-08T20:38:37Z

Glad to see a built-in tutorial. That's often overlooked and for someone like me who likes to just jump into the games, it really helps. I like the aesthetics you have here. I did find it tricky to position my ship in the proper place in order to shoot where I intended. I wasn't able to get very far because of this, but maybe it's just because I'm getting old...

Stasis Break by 3mpty 2020-10-08T19:51:30Z

I really like the visuals of this game. The effects were spot on and really cool. Great job!

Chamber by Pedro Medeiros 2020-10-08T20:45:48Z

The level of polish on this is incredible. Very cool idea as well that really fits the theme. Nice work!

Vortex Loop by TheCze 2020-10-05T17:57:32Z

This is a difficult game! Not because of anything you did wrong, but because I suck at timing my releases. This has the "just one more try" addiction factor to it. The mechanic is simple and fits the theme well. Simple graphics and audio, but they fit the game well. Overall, nicely done.

Rat Inc by Wouter Deferme 2020-10-07T20:12:33Z

This is a great incremental. The humor is great, the background audio is great, the pixel art is great. I just hope my left/right arrow keys don't fall off now. Great entry!

Stuck in the Office by BobParis75 2020-10-07T19:39:57Z

I don't know what the problem is, but I'm not able to get past the menu screen. When it starts up, the Play option is grayed out, then it goes to normal, but I'm not able to start the game. It doesn't respond to any input. I haven't rated, but I thought I'd give you a heads up that some people might not be able to play your game.

Endless Night by arkinrev 2020-10-14T19:16:58Z

I really like the graphics and the mood they set. Very nice job on that. The controls were difficult for me and after only a couple minutes I noticed an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach so I had to exit the game. I think a first person perspective may have been better for me personally.

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-07T20:03:00Z

I really liked the story and atmosphere you created with this. Unfortunately for me, poor Lily wasn't ready for that last wave. I think making the projectile bigger and easier to see would be helpful. It seemed the collision wasn't quite matching up with the size of the projectile. But overall, great job!

Grinding Gears by Pincushion 2020-10-08T18:53:08Z

Great puzzle game idea! The graphics were really nice and the ambient audio and the sound effects made for a good atmosphere. The only thing that threw me off was the camera angles when switching from one room to the next. It was disorienting me every time. Overall though, this is a great game.

The Hand That Feeds by neonjeff 2020-10-05T18:43:25Z

This was absurdly hilarious. Nicely done. As the parent of four children, I can attest to the accuracy of this simulation.

AUTOLOOP by Kpedatte 2020-10-08T20:11:51Z

I love the visual in this game. The looping look was spot on. The controls were pretty tricky compared to most infinite runners, so that added a little bit of frustration to the experience. Overall though, a great game.

Kill the Zombies by Gurrg 2020-10-07T19:42:46Z

Wow those are some fast zombies! I can't seem to last very long. Congrats on finishing your game. It takes skill to manage your time in order to complete your game by submission, and you did it. It's definitely an accomplishment.

Sad Knight by HumphreysMedia 2020-10-08T20:16:24Z

Unfortunately I wasn't able to experience a whole lot of your game, as it started lagging pretty hard after a few minutes, but what I saw was nice. The animation and visuals were pretty good.

Divine Drifter by Enzar17 2020-10-08T20:35:05Z

Unfortunately I was unable to try your game. It got to the logo splash screen (the water droplet one) and then crashed.

Arround by nonozuchu 2020-10-08T19:59:16Z

I like the straightforward gameplay. I also really liked the pixelated galaxy effects and how they slowly change. I would have liked the game to pick up steam a little faster though. It takes too long into a run for it to get challenging.

Looping Condor 3000 by Quinn_Patrick 2020-10-08T18:48:53Z

It took me a minute to figure out what I was supposed to be doing, but once I did it was pretty straightforward to play. I like that you added more levels and difficulty.

HELPMACBOOKRUN3D by MECHORD AND MECHOH 2020-10-07T19:47:12Z

I'm quite confused as to why there are geese on the keyboard... A bizarre but definitely unique and challenging game. I would have liked more freedom to go where I wanted on the keyboard, but that might have made it too easy.

T.A.P.E. Acquiring Proof Expertly by p-brighenti 2020-10-05T18:09:27Z

Congrats on finishing your first game jam! The pixel art and the humor are spot on, and everything works well with the theme. I will say I had to take my headphones off because of the letter sounds got very annoying very fast. Overall though, very impressive, especially for your first jam.

Creatures of the Sky by WiredSound 2020-10-05T17:43:56Z

I agree that the title card screen is very well done pixel art, nice job. The bleak mood is very fitting for 2020 and is well done. I would've liked more openness to exploring. Maybe instead of just telling me I can't go in a certain direction, use the environment to prevent travelling in certain directions.

Bjorn to Dance by Tomh 2020-10-08T19:01:41Z

I'm terrible at these kinds of memory games, but I had fun with this. The aesthetic of the game is awesome and very well done, not to mention hilarious. Great job on this!

Space Drummer by Guilloteam 2020-10-08T19:55:56Z

Wow, what a great idea. I love that I made my own beat at the beginning and it affected the game. The level of polish and attention to detail was excellent. Great job on this one!

BoreOut! by HOOLOP 2020-10-08T20:33:23Z

I'm getting a pretty big "Job Simulator" vibe with this, which is cool. I liked the low poly look of the environment, but feel the other employees didn't match the aesthetic as much. Overall, very cathartic and well done.

Star Loop by rickdearman 2020-10-05T17:53:44Z

Congrats on completing your first Ludum Dare! Just completing a game and submitting it is a huge accomplishment. I'll echo what others have said in that it was a difficult game and the controls are hard to manage. It seems like you're new to Godot, so it's impressive that you finished the game in time with it. Nice work!

Red Venom by extar 2020-10-05T17:49:21Z

I like the pixel art here. It was easy to determine what was terrain vs enemies, except at first I didn't realize the grey blocks were in the background... I was trying to avoid them. I didn't have any problems with my shots landing, though I did run into a bug where I died, shots were coming from the empty space I used to be at, then I died again before respawning. Other than that, it was fine. Nice work on this!

LD49 — Unstable

Serene Stability by jharler 2021-10-04T12:36:45Z

@mrbamboo Thanks! I appreciate the kind words.

@slimmerburger Thanks! The gameplay loop is just that, figure out how you want to manipulate the stabilizer and then adjust the manipulators until it goes to just the right place.

@mikoziq

Wow, thanks for the great feedback! FYI, I found and fixed the crash if you're interested in trying again (you can Launch/Retry 5 times and then skip the levels you've already done). I've discovered that the Windows build is much more forgiving of missing references than the WebGL build is.

I spent more time this entry on sound design than I usually do. I had to redo the music a couple times to get the vibe that I wanted. I'm very happy with how it ultimately turned out. It's one of the few entries of mine I can play and not have the music get annoying to me.

I agree with you that it can be tricky to know the exact interaction area for each item. I debated whether I should add a bounding circle showing the exact location, but didn't have enough time to try out that idea.

@pinkemma I think I could play this for hours too, but I don't know if I have it in me to create the hundreds of levels that would take! Haha. I'm glad you enjoyed. FYI, I fixed the WebGL crash so you should be able to get through all 20 levels. You can launch/retry 5 times each level to be able to skip the ones you've already finished if you want. There's no penalty for doing so.

Serene Stability by jharler 2021-10-18T12:36:34Z

Thanks everyone for playing and commenting! My apologies for taking so long to get back to you.

@johnathan-peres Thank you!

@morris I'm glad you found the tutorial useful. That came from my own experience of playing LD games and not having a clue as to how to play some of them. I try to make my games intuitive and add tutorials to help when I can.

@gus-the-shark You did remember your sunglasses, right? Haha, thanks. You're right about the level reset time. The fade out and delay are actually necessary to how I did the reset. If I had more time, I would've liked to have made it reset faster.

@bewelge Great idea. With using Unity physics though, I'm not sure how to best go about doing something like that. I did have that thought too, I just didn't have enough time to explore how to implement it.

@majadroid Thanks for your input. I do agree that it can sometimes miss what seems to be an accurate shot.

@python-b5 Thanks for playing and commenting! I appreciate your feedback.

@bassilij Thanks!

@immow Thanks for playing and for your feedback.

@gaming-night Wow, thanks for the kind words!

@wyl-team I'm glad you enjoyed the music. I spent significantly more time on the audio design in this game compared to my usual game jams.

@lucasvb I'm using the Shapes package for the lines. I'm not sure why it wouldn't show up for you other than it might be some graphics card issue with the shaders that it uses. I appreciate you taking the time to offer the extensive feedback that you did. If I decide to explore this concept further (or do something similar in the future), I will definitely utilize what you've shared here.

@izaya Thanks for playing and for your feedback!

@manio I appreciate your thoughts and thanks for playing.

@kewdev Thank you for the kind words!

@chainsawmcd Thanks for the feedback. There was a dashed line surrounding the unstable objects that showed the orbit. Someone else said the lines weren't showing up for them. Was this your experience too?

@kukurammus I agree, the pixel-perfect nature of placing the effectors can definitely be frustrating.

@blackquiltro Thank you!

@cameron-dunlap I agree with you. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to play with the effectors as much as I would have liked before I had to start making levels, and once I started doing that I wasn't comfortable going back and tweaking how they worked. I appreciate your feedback!

Nuclear Crysis by blackquiltro 2021-10-18T11:42:14Z

Great take on the theme! I'll admit that when the real mission started, it was pretty intense! It instilled in me a great sense of urgency. Great job on that!

A Glorious Rule by gamesplusjames 2021-10-06T17:08:56Z

Fair warning up front that I'm not a huge fan of this type of puzzle, but you brought a great take to the mechanics. The gameplay felt smooth and well implemented and there is definitely a nice attention to detail in everything. Nice job!

O'Ryan by James Dunlap 2021-10-18T11:37:03Z

I really like the atmosphere in this game. Very unsettling. The graphics are stunning and really well done. I did run into some collision bugs. The first time I ran the game I fell right through a corner and had to restart the game. I was also able to stick to walls in certain areas. Overall though, great entry. Nice work!

The Unstable Machine by pinkemma 2021-10-06T17:28:40Z

Oh man, that is intense! Definitely had me on edge. Nice job for that! Honestly, I had a hard time trying to figure out what did what and what I was supposed to be doing. I think an in-gameplay tutorial would have been very useful in aiding players to know what to do.

Deviant by wolderado 2021-10-04T20:48:37Z

This is pretty great. I love the chaotic aspect of this game and attacking felt really satisfying. Too bad you weren't able to get in sound effects, but overall, this is a great entry.

Volatile Waters by Likirus 2021-10-04T15:58:18Z

This is a sad game. Too much pollution. It was well implemented though and a good fit for the theme.

Orbital Turbulence by Bewelge 2021-10-06T17:02:57Z

Orbital mechanics in a game jam, nicely done! This definitely has that "one more try" feel to it. Easy enough to understand the mechanics, but tough to beat some of the later levels.

Babel by Gaming Night 2021-10-18T12:09:02Z

Ooh, I really like that "reset" transition. The graphics are simple, but effective and well done. The sounds that play when you place an item are hilarious, even if some of them are slightly irritating. It is hard to determine which way the platform is tipping sometimes. Overall, extremely well done!

Spherry by Rewzu 2021-10-04T14:31:54Z

This is pretty great! The graphics are well done and adorable and the lifesavers when the cats fall off was a great touch. The scoring system is pretty innovative too. I wish more of the screen could've been taken up by the cats though. They seemed so small and hard to see.

Gunstable Tanks by Gus the Shark 2021-10-04T16:10:06Z

This is pretty fun! I keep getting destroyed pretty easily, but it's still fun. Graphics are simple, but clear and the gameplay was pretty intuitive (except I kept forgetting I could dash). Great job!

Ice cube in a melting pot by Bentekiller 2021-10-04T15:23:11Z

This is a pretty hard game. Great take on the theme though. I really like the glow of the lava.

Bunker Maze by Majadroid 2021-10-18T12:23:59Z

This is really fun. The pixel art is spot on. Everything is easily identifiable. The level design has a good difficulty curve and is well done. The background music is suitably unsettling. Overall, great job on this!

Volcano Containment by Morris 2021-10-04T18:20:41Z

This is great fun! Very challenging but has that element of "just one more try." Great job and good tie-in with the theme.

Tables & Tremors by SlimmerBurger 2021-10-06T17:19:45Z

It took me a few minutes to figure out how to actually control my character and beat the first level, but after that it was pretty straight forward. Good variety of levels, although I got stuck on the one where the platform was too far away. Overall though, great game!

Atomic Rock Paper Scissors by lucasvb 2021-10-18T12:05:39Z

Wow, great job on this and I appreciate the literal use of rock-paper-scissors. I really liked the background music. I felt it gave the game a great sense of dread and impending doom. Overall very polished and well done.

Cool by KewDev 2021-10-18T11:55:48Z

The pixel art is spot on, nice work on that. Maybe I'm just really bad at your game, but I think it gets too hard too fast. I would have liked to see a longer ramp up at the start of the game.

Unshippable by MikoziQ 2021-10-06T17:25:55Z

Fantastic visuals here. The modelling is spot on for the low poly aesthetic you were going for. The music was suitable, although did get slightly annoying the longer it went on. I unfortunately wasn't able to get very far as it seems the controls were buggy. Sometimes when I pressed space, nothing would happen. Sometimes the crane would grab two boxes instead of one and then only release one when pressed again and then be stuck.

The Theme is Unstable by Johnathan Peres 2021-10-04T14:47:22Z

Great idea for the theme! It looks like this took a tremendous amount of work to pull off. Well done! My only complaint is that sometimes it was confusing about what was going on. More than once I killed myself because I had no idea what was happening.

Unstable Towers by Immow 2021-10-18T12:13:32Z

I like the music in this, it really made the overall experience more relaxing in stark contrast to the really difficult game play! My first time through, I didn't know about holding up to slow down the blocks, so I wondered how it was even possible to win. I came back and noticed that note and thought "hey, that will make this easy." Nope. Still not easy. Haha. I wasn't able to complete the game, but great job!

SpiderJump by QKboy 2021-10-04T14:26:59Z

This is a really great looking game. The graphics are nicely polished and well done. I had trouble figuring out the controls and kept dying. I like the concept though!

The Auto-Analyst by chainsawmcd 2021-10-18T11:48:28Z

Haha, great take on the theme! Strangely enough, the first time around I got all the questions correct. The second time though, I managed to get that ear splitting system malfunction. It was funny, but honestly you should have headphone warnings or something, because that was LOUD. Great job though!

Flower Lab by Justin Gagnon-Lavoie 2021-10-06T17:13:59Z

I really like and appreciate the cartoony and whimsical graphics. They are very well done. I do have to echo some other reviewers in that I was really hard to figure out what was going on gameplay wise. It was pretty fun though to just run around and get tossed by the physics bumps.

UNSTABLI by ALAN001 2021-10-04T21:08:09Z

I like the mood you were able to accomplish with this. The controls were difficult, although I did manage to fly off the edge of the map, which was fun.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Super Gun Baby Run by KunoNoOni 2018-04-26T11:26:06Z

I really liked the pixel art. I think you did a nice job with them and the explosion particles when you blow up a rock are really satisfying. Unfortunately, as most endless runners do, it got repetitive and after a while there didn't seem to be any additional challenges. I think maybe if the speed of the game increased slightly over time it may have added to the difficulty and challenge. Overall though, it was well executed. Nice work!

Secret of the PeaDucks by Iak 2018-04-24T16:01:43Z

For your first Unity and 3D game, I'm impressed. You had good level design as well. You should be happy and proud of this. Nice work!

Lacerti and the Puzzling Dungeon by dalbinblue 2018-04-23T21:55:50Z

I'm impressed by the number of mechanics you were able to fit into this game. I'm also a big fan of the aesthetics. The pixel art was spot on, and the music was suitable (although a little repetitive). Overall, very well done!

Captain Bauldy's Fun House by jharler 2018-04-24T10:59:14Z

@JavaSaurus: You can actually sprint by holding down the CTRL key. I forgot to put this in the controls documentation. Thanks for the kind words!

@thibaut-blanca: Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean by the input commands.

@temmy: Thanks!

@legionz-gaming: Is your math teacher bald too?

@radioactiverambo: I'm glad it kept you intrigued!

@dimaswift: Don't feel bad, I put in some trick questions. I'm glad to hear the engine performed well on your computer. I'm aware of the clipping issues. I was hoping to have some time near the end of development to fix them, but I unfortunately did not.

@antonsem: I'm considering developing a more complete horror experience. Thanks!

@morphine: Thank you! The camera height was a deliberate choice. I felt being the size of a child would make the setting feel more spooky.

@patrick-sweeney: Sorry about the clipping. 48 hours goes by so fast and art assets take so much time. I have a list of things I wanted to get done but ran out of time before I could get to them and that was on it.

@kunonooni: I didn't even think to put a mouse sensitivity setting when paused. It would've been simple to do too. Sorry about that! If you played it with your family, let me know how it went.

Captain Bauldy's Fun House by jharler 2018-04-24T21:08:03Z

@baesama Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed your time in my game.

@rayne Thank you for braving the experience. :)

@steel-dev You had me in stitches! Thank you so much for recording a let's play. So much fun to watch.

Captain Bauldy's Fun House by jharler 2018-04-26T14:43:51Z

@jaime-paz-lopes Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

@Yanni Thanks for the feedback on the footsteps. I never was completely satisfied with that sound effect.

@gamesplusjames It was a pleasure watching you play. Thanks!

@joekickass Thanks! I tried downloading your game and WinRAR is telling me the file is corrupt. I tried downloading on two different computers and got the same message. I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm not able to try your game.

Captain Bauldy's Fun House by jharler 2018-05-08T10:52:28Z

@Jupiter_Hadley Thanks for playing! I know you only do a minute or so per game, which is a shame because I'd love to see you complete the whole thing!

@been You shouldn't need to click on doors to open them (just walk into them if they are unlocked). It shouldn't be crashing though. If you could use http://pastebin.com to copy and paste the log.txt file in the same directory of the executable (after crashing), I would greatly appeciate it as it might help me diagnose and fix your crash.

@cristiano.m.garcia Thank you for playing and rating. I've played and rated yours as well! I plan on making another, more fully featured creepy/scary experience, but I don't think it will also be children's educational. :)

Captain Bauldy's Fun House by jharler 2018-05-10T15:54:42Z

@been Thanks for the log. You're right, it didn't show much, but I've added additional logging and uploaded a new version (LD41.3.zip) if you're up to trying again. If you get a new log file, you can email it to me (jharler at gmail dot com) or send it via Twitter DM (@jharler_dev) or feel free to post a link here. Whichever is easiest for you.

Captain Bauldy's Fun House by jharler 2018-05-23T10:28:00Z

@been thanks for giving it another shot. Perhaps I inadvertently fixed the problem you were having. I'm glad you were able to play through the whole thing! 😁

Rhythm Massacre by Impossible Realms 2018-04-24T15:47:17Z

Me, after the first few seconds: "Oh, I just click these segments? This is easy"

Me, after about 5 seconds: "Hey, where are you going?"

Me, after a couple minutes: *click, click, click, click, click* oh crap, slow down!

This was fun. One suggestion I would have is to have a visual indicator of a hit on enemies that take more than one click. The audio indication is good, but a visual one would help too.

Foos Fight by jimmothysanchez 2018-04-23T21:45:28Z

I actually like the fact that you can add multiple balls to the game. Chaos is fun in this case. I like the aesthetics you were going for. The controls were tricky, but I think that's inherent in the type of game it is. I'm not sure how it could be improved. Overall, nice work!

Four Hour Tower Defense by demogorgon 2018-04-24T20:02:20Z

All this done in a few hours? Not a bad effort at all. It was kind of like a combination of Battleship and TD. Interesting concept, but it was a bit tedius to buy and place new towers. Great job for the time taken though.

What is Love by been 2018-05-08T10:49:31Z

The singing in the intro cracked me up, well done! The idea is definitely interesting and I enjoyed the brawler part of the game. The dialog based portion was a bit confusing, but I did end up winning somehow, which is nice. I think some additional use of color might have been nice, perhaps something to identify enemies, I'm not really sure here. Anyway, nicely done!

TDshooter by Genpaku 2018-04-24T16:07:56Z

An interesting combination for sure! I like the mini gun. It mowed down the bots like nobody's business. Nice work! The gun shot sound got a little overwhelming with how often it was being played, but I'm not sure what you could do to improve that. Overall, a nice game you have here. Good work!

Zoccer by PhilStrahl 2018-04-23T19:12:03Z

Nice work Phil. The graphics, music and sound effects are pretty spot on. My only complaint is that it was difficult to control with the keyboard. The ball would bounce in unpredictable directions leading to frightful moments of "oh crap, the ball is way over there now and I can't see anything." Overall, nice work and I'm looking forward to the video!

Run from the hangman (Renegade) by jshaffer94247 2018-04-24T19:45:45Z

This is a great mechanic with a lot of potential, however, I ran into some problems. It was hard to accurately jump over and miss letters, as the bounding boxes didn't seem to fit the sprites on screen. There were also times when it was impossible to avoid getting letters you didn't want. I also think you forgot to add the letter N to the pool of letters that appear. I tried avoiding letters for no less than 2-3 minutes waiting for an N that never came. Like I said though, the concept is solid and I like it. Congrats on finishing and submitting your game!

Pix Eliz Great Curse of the Cards by mat1er 2018-04-23T15:51:33Z

Interesting idea. I like the concept and the execution is pretty good. The music really set a good atmosphere.

I would have liked to see some sort of animation when you get a new card. It was hard to notice that they changed the first time until I started doing a back and forth dance.

The left/right text being backwards through me off at first. Either I misunderstood, or your left is my right. :)

Overall, well done and congrats for completing!

Slice of Screen by Zirrrus 2018-04-23T18:38:01Z

This is an interesting idea. Unfortunately, I must be too dumb to figure it out, especially after the weekend crunch. Kudos for the most unique idea I've seen yet though.

Escape_ by Steel_Dev 2018-04-24T21:40:54Z

Whew, that was intense. I ended up dying to the boss with him at like 15 health because I had ran out of heals. Well done. A few notes: The navigation of the player through the room was a little tricky. I had to retry a couple of times and it got a bit tedious typing the same power-on sequence. It would have also been nice to see in the database list which hashes I had already tried. I think I ended up cracking the same codes a few times because I couldn't remember where I left off. Overall though, this is a solid entry. Nice work!

Type Dungeon by roy 2018-04-23T15:45:04Z

Nice idea and good execution. I agree with @nash that using actual words instead of random letters would've been an interesting idea. I did run into a bug. I was in a situation like this:

``` B T N N ```
I was in the T and the key was in the lower N. However, every time I typed N, it would go to the right, so I lost because I couldn't go down. An easy bug to miss when doing random generation. Congrats on completing! If you get a chance, please take a look at my entry. Thanks!
Alien Farm by brandann 2018-04-23T20:12:45Z
I'm not sure if I did something wrong or there's something wrong with my computer, but I think my version of the game had some sprites missing. I kept waiting for clouds, but there were none. Anyway, congrats on finishing and submitting a game in 48 hours!
Point & Shoot by Temmy 2018-04-26T10:42:19Z
This was surprisingly fun. I loved the "not applicable here" responses and the voiceover was great. I would've liked to see a bit more, but 48 hours flies by! Really nice job.
A Puzzling Combination by Noa Calice 2018-04-24T15:25:07Z
Hey Noa, I've been a subscriber to your YT channel for a while. This was a cute game, I liked it. I was able to get the 100 matches and was confused at first because when I did mess up, it showed him looking sad, but then went to the "we're compatible" screen. Also, a good number of the sprites were missing for me. The 4 menu sprites were missing and the sprites surrounding the main game play screen were missing (I just saw my player piece and the incoming pieces to match with).
Overall though, this is a very solid entry. Nice work! If you get a chance, I'd like to get your input on my game. Thanks!
Sneaky Beats by gamesplusjames 2018-04-25T20:49:35Z
This was pretty good. At first I wished there was more variety in the riffs, but once things got hard, I'm glad they were consistent. I can see this being fleshed out and being a great game. Nice work!
Deadication by bcvery1 2018-04-23T18:27:49Z
Congrats on completing another LD! I was quite entertained by this. Who knew growing humans for zombie consumption could be so much fun. That said, I would have liked to have sound music and sound effects. Overall, nice work.
Card Runner by sh1rogane 2018-04-23T21:29:40Z
Infinite runner + card game is definitely an incompatible pair of genres, but you made it work. There were a few places where I had no cards to get me out of a sticky situation, but that's card game luck for you. Visually this was well done, but I would've liked to have some audio. Overall, nice work.
Clicky Cards by Connor McGrory 2018-04-23T18:31:20Z
I wasn't able to run this. I downloaded the jar and tried to run it and nothing happened. I had just tried another LD entry that was a jar file and it ran fine, so I'm not sure what the problem is.
Colony Sniper by ab200 2018-04-23T18:46:38Z
I laughed the first time I heard an alien and watched it hit me. It was so unexpected, so nice work. Unfortunately, that alien sound got old and at one point, they started coming so often it started sounding like a herd of sheep. That's my main complaint, though another minor nitpick is that it was hard at first to figure out why I couldn't place certain buildings (I didn't have enough crystals). Some UI indicator of that may have helped. Otherwise, this is pretty impressive for 48 hours. Nice work!
Action Chess by antonsem 2018-04-24T15:37:52Z
This is an interesting concept that you wouldn't think would work, but it does. It was fun and I even managed to beat the AI. Nice work!
Dyeswap by morphine 2018-04-26T11:08:41Z
I really enjoyed this and played through until the end. The aesthetics were very good. The visuals and music played well together and your puzzle design was excellent. My only point of concern were the controls. They seemed very jumpy. In some of the puzzles, jumping and landing with any sort of accuracy was very difficult and multiple times I found myself jumping too far and having to restart the puzzle because I fell off the platform. Because of this some of the puzzles (particularly the one that relies on timing) were more frustrating than they should have been. Overall though, you did an excellent job on this. Nice work!
Scarecrow's Night by Thibaut Blanca 2018-04-23T18:19:14Z
This is really well done. The models, animations, particles, controls, atmosphere and music were spot on. My only criticism is that I would have liked to hear a whoosh sound when you swing your scythe. Excellent work.
Match with Monsters by Charlotte Fries 2018-04-26T11:32:20Z
Very amusing take on the theme. I thoroughly enjoyed the chat interaction with the opponents and the fighting animations were on point. A minor gripe I have is the text didn't always line up right in the speech bubbles and some sort of gui indicator to swipe left or right would've been helpful for new players. Overall, solid entry!
Toppen Ultimate Anime Defense by DosWosh 2018-04-26T16:09:33Z
I'm personally not a big anime fan, so I'm sure I didn't get a lot of the anime jokes, but man was this game epic! I'm impressed with how many different towers and enemies you were able to fit into a weekend and you even managed to get an epic boss battle for the last wave. Sound effects and music were great and that voiceover work was epic. Fantastic game! My only criticism is that I wish the camera would've been positioned so I could see the enemies emerging at the start of the path. It was a bit annoying that enemies were being shot and killed before I could see them.
F.I.S.T.S (FIRST PERSON IDLE CLICKER SHOOTER HORROR TOWER DEFENCE SURVIVAL) by dimaswift 2018-04-23T19:51:37Z
Wow! This is an incredibly polished entry. I concur with @Tutti Ankka that this should be turned into a full game. I finally had to make myself stop playing. My only points of criticism are 1) the "get coin" chime becomes annoying after 20 some waves and 2) it's not obvious (at least in the early game) that the action stops when you go into the upgrades. Perhaps having the upgrade window not take the full screen so the player can see the action has stopped in the background would help.
I really am super impressed that you were able to get this level of polish alongside all the mechanics in just 48 hours. That's something to be proud of. You've got a winner here.
Type Ball by Yanni 2018-04-26T11:41:57Z
Unfortunately, I was unable to play your game. No word ever showed up on the billboard for me, no matter how close or far away I got to the basket. I did not rate because of this, but thought you would like to know. Sorry!
Type Ball by Yanni 2018-04-26T13:52:23Z
@Yanni thank you for explaining that. I thought I had done that last time, but I tried again and sure enough, it worked this time. This is an interesting take on the theme. I really liked how the ball just takes off when you make a mistake. First time it happened, I literally laughed out loud. I would like to see the difficulty progress through the levels (and moving through the levels faster). Overall though, this is a fun entry. Nice work!
Ratty's Stew: An Immersive Cooking Simulation by joekickass 2018-04-26T16:16:22Z
Very cool game here. Thanks for putting the alternate download, the RAR wasn't working for me. Anyway, I really liked the low poly models, and the fact that you positioned a lot of environmental objects around the level really made it come to life. The audio was good, although it got a bit repetitive after a few minutes. I had some trouble with the controls, though I was using the keyboard, so that might have been a factor. Impressive entry though, I really enjoyed it!
Recipe for Disaster by dragonslumber 2018-04-24T19:53:20Z
Visually, this is pretty stunning. Nice work on the aesthetics. I had a little bit of difficulty with the controls. I would have liked to see more snappy acceleration. I ultimately ended up stuck in a corner of the level with no way out, but I had fun getting there. Congrats on a solid entry!
The Play Ground by LegionZ_Gaming 2018-04-23T15:23:03Z
Congrats on completing your first Ludum Dare! The fact that you submitted a project is an accomplishment to be proud of.
A funny moment: I spoke with the other Jack Sparrow and he wanted me to find a monkey. I found said monkey and went to look for the other Jack. I found him in the ocean. That made me laugh.
A couple things you could do to improve the feel of the game: - Flip the sprites so they're facing the direction they're moving. - Make the jump faster. It feels like the character is floating instead of jumping.
I noticed a bug that sometimes the text above someone overlaps and is difficult to read. Congrats again on finishing, and if you get a chance, please check out my entry as well. Thanks!
Typewriter Dungeon by Jaime Paz Lopes 2018-04-26T11:39:30Z
You nailed the mood in this one. The sound effects and background ambiance were perfect. My only suggestion would be to speed up the walk speed and maybe only have the character stop at intersections or dead ends. It got a bit tedious backtracking when you realized you went the wrong way. Overall though, this is a very solid entry. Nice work!
Seven Ate Nine by topbraj 2018-04-23T18:23:54Z
I didn't realize how hard it would be to do mental arithmetic while running for my life! This was a fun concept and you nailed the aesthetics. Nice work.
WaveRush by Patrick Sweeney 2018-04-26T11:16:17Z
When I saw your thumbnail screenshot, the first thing I thought of were the baby slimes from minecraft. Brought back some good memories. :)
As far as your game, I think you did a great job. The visuals, while minimalistic, were suitable and there was something unsettling about the sounds the creatures made. The gun made a satisfying sound, which made it even better when one of the creatures were killed.
I think adding some lighting to the scene, making it darker and more difficult to see the creatures from a distance would help with the horror vibe you were going for.
Overall, you did a great job. Nice work!
Bumper Buddies by JavaSaurus 2018-04-23T15:33:49Z
Congrats on completing your first Ludum Dare! Definitely something to be proud of.
I like the idea of combining a digital pet with pinball. Though the thought of a pinball spreading virtual poop behind it as it goes is kinda gross. :) The idea was executed well. Nicely done.
The background music was a big repetitive and pretty quickly became overwhelming. I tried adjusting the volume in the settings, but they seemed to be fiddly and it was either everything was on full volume or it was all muted.
Overall, a solid entry, particularly for your first go. If you get a chance, please check out my entry as well. Thanks!
Stealth Casual Farming Simulator by RadioactiveRambo 2018-04-26T10:49:09Z
I played before reading the instructions. I will tell you that trying to plant, water and harvest seeds while trying to run away from three wolves is not an easy thing to do! I was more successful with hiding in the grass until one of the wolves stumbled upon me by chance. Then I got eaten.
Great idea for a genre mashup, and well executed. Some improvements I would suggest: Zoom in a little bit. It would add to the tension of not knowing when the wolves would appear. Also, make the action buttons at the bottom clickable. More than once I used my mouse to click the buttons. Since you click to use them, it would make sense to click to select them.
Race City by PuddleOfWater 2018-04-23T16:00:43Z
I'll admit that it took me a minute to understand what was going on. I would suggest some opening info-graphics or something to indicate what does what to help players understand what they need to do.
I flew way past the goal, but it's okay because everyone was dead from lack of oxygen anyway. The mechanic seems to work well and as intended. Nicely done!
Fishing With Mr Bear by GexAlmighty 2018-04-24T19:31:41Z
The first time that voice spoke, it cracked me up. Nice job there. I caught 3 fish then Mr. Bear broke my neck. Made me jump too. Nice work. The sound effects could use a little work, although the lure plop was pretty satisfying. Overall, a solid entry.
Witch's Escape by cristiano.m.garcia 2018-05-08T10:43:03Z
Very impressive! Everything here seems very polished and well done. I would recommend that you start out the game a little faster, as the first minute or so of the game drags on (which could be problematic in a game jam where some people will quit within moments if the game seems to be too slow). I would also recommend a penalty for hitting the wrong button. I was able to cheese the system by just mashing all the buttons on my controller, which took all of the challenge out of the game. Overall though, this is a great entry. Excellent work!
