Certain Defeat by L 2013-08-26T04:12:00
At first I was super frustrated, but then it dawned on me. I should really read the descriptions before playing XD

At first I was super frustrated, but then it dawned on me. I should really read the descriptions before playing XD
I WIN! The most exciting win in 10 seconds. lol
I was sad, I thought I saved myself but I ended up dying anyways :(
I love this. Good concept, good presentation, and fun! I made it to level 11 the first time. Really easy to pick up and play.
So I run a pretty high end system and I was getting frame drops. I've never encountered this before with unity so I though I'd let you know. Otherwise the controls were a bit tricky I really couldn't get around. I did, however, feel like I was in this huge space battle.
Wow, I love the art. The concept is also very nice.
Really cool! Way different that's for sure.
Interesting. I thought there might have been more depth to it after awhile like some vertical action. that would have been nice. Otherwise it was pleasing to look at and play for a little while :)
Cool! BGE is a tough one!
OH MY GAWD WHAT JUST HAPPENED. This made me laugh I liked it, though the text screens gave me a headache :(
I liked this a lot! I played all the way through. Some things I found were on level 7 when I would try to "press" the button but would say that was an invalid action, but when I "push" the button it says I pressed it. lol not game breaking, but definitely some inconsistency.
Otherwise thought I'd let you know it works on windows 8.1 preview. :) Also I heard you like doors XD
The song sounds so familiar! hahaha
Wow really cool. Made it to the end with 0.2 seconds left (I almost put an f at the end of 0.2 XD) and Inadvertently watched the world burn. XD
I enjoyed the concept and the art style, got kinda boring after I realized I couldn't die though. Still looks nice though :)
At one point I turned and screamed because I was being molested. Now everyone can know the anxiety I feel in a crowd of people XD
I liked the glitchy effect but the character seemed to get stuck to the walls a lot. But still I like the concept and all the hidden easter eggs. lol
I couldn't run this. The webplayer page doesn't load on dropbox and the download only contains the .exe not the associated files. :(
Groovy! lol loved it!
So first off this game looks professional! secondly, this would be awesome on a phone. Good work :)
Wow. Just wow. Like what a tough subject wow. Good job though.
I love this. Lol the light bulb guy is adorable you just want him to make it. Also I really like the music.
Thanks :)
Thanks! I'll see what I can do to replicate that. Maybe I'll fix it. :P
Thanks for all the input guys, some confidence boosters and some really good criticism. This is a great experience for me. :)
Oh wow! Highest reported score yet! you even beat mine! haha thanks for playing! :)
This would make for a really cool RTS :D
I got kinda bored about ten minutes in, enjoyed it though. Nobody takes the time to make a game about how dangerous whales are ;) aside from that I do think the controls needed a little tweaking I felt like the jumping wasn't very responsive.
I made it to 12. Barely lol I like the music. :)
D'awwwwww. :)
Woah. I'm a little creeped out. haha nice approach to the theme though :)
I went into this expecting a guitar hero type thing and was surprised XD music was.. interesting. lol
Fun game! The art is really nice! the first time I played I got really confused, two of the fat guys shot their fireballs into each others and another fat guy spawned on me and I had though I met some weird requirements of a ritual to turn me into one of them XD
That was really neat. Assembling the gun itself made this game more interesting than just "find the gun kill target".
At first I wasn't really sure what was going on. Then a shadow ball started mauling me and I was even more freaked out. XD The layout of the level itself was very solid. Just needed a bit more to be a full on game.
This game was crate. hehe see what I did there? but seriously it was pretty good the feature creep was at a good rate. they were simple additions but changed a lot how the game played through. One thing I didn't like was killing the enemies. I felt like it took too many hits to kill them. But overall the game was a nice experience. :)
So first off I want to say as a game, this is obviously nothing special in the terms of game-play. Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about the absolutely wonderfully written narrative. As I read through this short story some points actually gave me chills(I'm a bit susceptible to this when it comes to engaging stories lol). I feel like although the story was a bit rushed, it hit on the key points to get me to feel as if the character was real. I'm not sure if the choices I made had any effect, but the story itself was engaging enough that didn't matter much. Nice job!
Interesting concept though unfinished(as you stated) Those features you talked about to add would make this feel like a full game. Maybe a gas power to speed up the lawn mowers? just an idea though.
I got overwhelmed pretty fast but this was interesting. I liked your take on the theme. First tower defense I've played this go 'round!
@everyone Thank you very much for taking the time to play the game. I see most of you made it to the end or got there but did not meet the win conditions. However, I assure you there is an ending. This game is very much unfinished and wasn't tested much before the deadline. I see a lot of you talking about the music, if you're interested the artist of the two pieces I used is credited in the credits! check out nosoapradio.us!
This was indeed a fun game. I hooked up my 360 controller(which was gathering dust) and went to town! I love the art style of the tileset. Gave me those nostalgia feels. ;)
The idea was there and it was a cool idea. However I was almost always able to find the code because it was out of place. Would have been cool with some sound. :)
I love the art style, however the first time I played the first cat I lasered didn't drop anything and i didn't have anymore charge. Is there some laying around somewhere?
Really cool! I love little simulators like this. the sailing was a bit awkward but I guess sailing a ship really isn't that easy. A nice feature would be shanties. Everybody loves shanties.
This was pretty awesome. Stealth done very well. I couldn't make it to the end on a count of me sucking at games that are scary. This was very scary. Got through a few levels before my heart was beating too fast and I had to quit. Great job.
I played the game a few times, even tried out the post jam version. First off it's a very pretty game. The presentation is great. However, I'm not sure I understood the game mechanics? or how I'm supposed to get "better" each time. It seemed random and I felt like when I used the powers they did nothing (except one time when one moved me to a bomb square and killed me lol)
Was a bit creepy, the atmosphere and the music(?) added to the mood. Was kind of expecting to see ominous figures in the distance. As for the game itself the controls were boat like but I found the ultimate goal laked a twist.
Well. What to say 0_o
This was an experience for sure. The overlay was very headache-inducing. I liked the creepiness of the music and the guys face. Couldn't get very far because it hurt my head unfortunately :(
This was an interesting concept, though repetitive. It was a little awkward dragging to move the planet as it carried no velocity when I did so and I think I got Gimbal locked a few times. Nice presentation though.
I liked the aspect of choice. At first I thought the red dots were bad then I came to a level with the red row above and the jumping below. I tried many times to use my 1337 platforming skillz to make it but then I realised I could walk on top nice and easy. Haha good job! :)
This was interesting. Was very difficult at first, but after realizing there was no consequence for just mashing the jkeys that's what it turned into. Neat concept and wonderful visuals though.
Oh my, this game was awesome. For me it was very hard. But I couldn't stop playing because the tune was so wonderful. Excellent job. :)
This has to be my favorite game of this Ludum Dare, so much fun! Would love to see this on Mobile.
I tried to run the applet but something about my security settings wouldn't run it, but I was able to run the jar and I can say it was enjoyable! I had fun putting the pedal to the metal and watching the physics freak out. XD
-_- you got me. XD
After waiting 15 seconds before i finally meet the manliest Ben.
The music is great, reminds me of the SNES/N64 music and it fit well with the art style. What I really wanted to do was explore the reef, but I kept running out of energy! Haha Overall, it was a nice experience.
Awesome! I really liked the opening little exposition. The graphics with shooting and the movement feels really epic, though I just can't seem to empty my clip. ;)
This one would have been more awesome with controller support though, overall nice job!
I liked the graphics, I wonder what kind of mechanic you could introduce in a post compo build. :)
Some of these puzzles were very challenging, though I may be attributing some to bugs? Otherwise, interesting mechanic, executed very well given the circumsrtances. :)
Thanks for playing, the ones that shoot at you are the turtles, and they have a soft underbelly. I don't want to give it away but if you think about how you flip turtles in Super Mario that's where I got the inspiration. ;) When you say obvious bugs and glitches what exactly do you mean? ;)
@Lacaranian thanks for playing glad you liked it!
@JavadocMD Thanks! There is a controls reference in the settings on the main menu. :)
@Cat Technically, no. The goal is to survive as many waves as you can, like a horde mode of sorts.
I really like the idea of this game, though it could do with some easing into. Some levels that taught me how the guy can move would have been wonderful, the first level is a bit long (especially since the ninja moves kinda slow) but altogether this is a solid game. Fun to play and even challenging. I like it :)
Haha! Take that Zungo Corp!
That was fun, good presentation.
Wow, a stealth roguelike. The stealth in this is executed so well. I never would have thought of a stealth game like a puzzle game. This is definitely in my top games this year for Ludum Dare. Bookmarking it for later so I can continue to play.
I really like the simplicity of the controls. A lot more to this game "beneath the surface". ;)
So my method of gaming was not forgiving here. I jumped in without reading anything and couldn't figure anything out at first, but with a little perseverance and experimenting I figured their powers out, I liked the white blood cells power the most. Interesting to say the least.
Great graphics, the gameplay is interesting. I like the idea, could definitely go for fleshing it out. :)
That was a fun game, the visuals are nice. Reminds me a bit of Starfox 64. Good job!
The character reminds me of Katamari Damacy, so adorable. XD I was having a good time, then bumped a wall and proceeded to find out I get motion sick easily. Fun little game!
Real fun, reminds me of the flood levels from Halo. The way you did the shadows was pretty ingenious. I never would have thought to do that.
Hey, look at that. Kinda funny how our games can have the same basic premise but be so different. Anyways, it was really cool. I liked picking the missions, Kinda gave it a sense of adventure. Nic job :)
What an awesome tool! I love it.
I really like the way this looks though I'm not sure on the game mechanics. Just seems more time consuming than challenging. Nice entry!
I really like the strategy involved in this. The clicking got tiresome, and I wasn't too sure if I had won or not, but the presentation was nice and the idea was there.
Wow really nice game, really polished. good job!
Interesting, felt kind of therapeutic. When I said Uranus out load I giggled and then saw the text. Immature humor knows no bounds...
So that's how antivirus works.....
This was really awesome. Really gave me that Kubrick feel.
I really enjoyed this game, would have liked to see some more visual hints instead of forcing that strange guy to run through dangerous dungeons placing signs. XD Anyways, reminded me of Zelda games, and those are my favorite, so excellent job. :)
Really enjoyed the simplicity. Made it easy to pick up and fun and definitely kept it from being frustrating.
The audio really made this one creepy. I'm a wuss when it comes to scary games so I couldn't get very far, but it definitely hit right in the creepy feels. lol
You weren't lying when you said it was completely different! Awesome game, really fun. I like how you embedded the audio on the page.
That was a really neat premise. Really makes you think about what each planet is getting. I was never able to win, maybe it's because I don't understand it, but I was only ever able to hit 3 elements.
Also I'm really interested in how you generated each subsequent world, really cool.
That got pretty overwhelming fast! lol
@dvdking The new GUI is nice, there are a few things that could work better, but it is a beta. It doesn't have the tweening stuff NGUI has but the integration with scripting is awesome. It does act a lot like NGUI though as far as workflow.
Really cool take on the tower defense. The orbits add a nice depth to the mechanics. Makes a cool idea to expand on. Nice work!
Well now you've piqued my curiosity. I love the art, has a kind of Double Fine feel to it. Anyways, great work.
Really cool mechanics. I could see this going much deeper. I did get stuck on the second level, also was able to make myself fall out of the level forcing me to restart.
This is a great idea, tons of potential, could be really fun.
Really fun concept. Good pacing. :)
I really liked all the power-ups I received fighting the bosses, though it would have been cool to at least have the ability to go back in and stomp on all the bosses again with my new found powers.
Logistics really is connection...
I really loved the graphics and the audio, nice job!
This would be really awesome with some friends. Kind of like worms. Really cool mechanic.
Wow this was really cool. I love that slow paced strategy. Where as most games made in these competitions are a mile wide and an inch deep this seems to be much deeper, simple mechanics. A game someone could really play for 10 minutes on the bus or an hour on a road trip. An android port would be sweet. And since all the controls seem to be GUI based that shouldn't be much more work. Once again, great job on your first entry, hope to see you again next time!
Pretty cool game, although the fact that it's in first person and I have to be so precise with the height of the jumps makes it a bit frustrating. Maybe a drop shadow and also a restart key would help. Nice work all in all. :)
Cool idea, would have been really nice to get an overview of the level before it started but it didn't take much to get where I needed to go. Nice work. :)
Cute little game. nice job!
Cool game, the floaty-ness of the player reminded me of Joust. Really fun. :)
Nice scenery and characters were interesting. The animations could use a little work and maybe some more in the way of gameplay, but an interesting story nonetheless and a scenic setting.
Really awesome mechanic, works really well on mobile. The only weird thing is that it seems as though you collide with the collectibles and that felt weird. Anyways, awesome job!
The art is really great, and the game has a certain difficulty to it. I like it. :)
Interesting concept. One thing that would have made it less awkward is if the lines were clamped to not go beyond the edges of the screens I found myself leaving the A/S line way behind.
"Have you ever wanted a career as a bridge builder?"
YES
"Do you want to go to space?"
YES!
I liked this one. Would be a good one on the go. Took me a second to get what was going on but after that it was pretty easy!
I really liked the sound effects! This would be a lot more fun if I had someone else here to try it out with me.
Really awesome! I lasted 236 seconds my first run through.
Really cool, great art and smooth animations.
Gotta love that those thug tunes!
Really neat game. I liked all the audio transmissions and the atmosphere (or lack thereof since it's in space).
Awesome job! Really love the concept and all the work put into this one. The end was really difficult. I noticed one bug, that was that sometimes I wouldn't be able to jump unless I started moving sometimes.
Really cool concept, I would like to see this developed further. :)
Needs an x100 button haha, nice clicker. would have been cool to have some more unfolding features to spend my army of developers on. haha
Really awesome concept! And boy am I glad you didn't make it a sliding tile game haha
I love the fog of war type effect. Really cool way to explore the level. the jumping was a bit floaty, could have used more air control, but that's just a preference thing I suppose.
@Johnro That is really strange, the spikes were made to function as doors but they seem to act strange if I have a lot of tabs with a unity instance running on them.
Also, it fits in the theme because each level takes up the screen (no scrolling) and the screen doesn't really change as the level elements fly off and drop down on each level.(bit of a stretch, and if I have to explain myself I kind of failed. haha)
Thanks for the feedback. :)
@2blejump I used Blender. :)
Awesome job! The game itself was fun, and the way you made that certain game system was awesome ;)
Really awesome! I love it, the puzzles are really great!
Awesome! I love the Game-and-watch-like graphics. You emulated that really well!
Awesome game! It taught me that not only can I not juggle in real life, I can't juggle virtually either! haha
Hahaha that was great. The cathartic release I needed. Would have been funny if I needed to mash keys to finalize the hacking so I can look like a movie hacking pro.
Really nice! Reminds me of Captain Toad!
That's less than one screen! ;) Really neat idea.
I really like the idea of this game! didn't really hit any big bugs or anything, really awesome!
That was adorable. I <3 Dorothy.
Cool mechanic of the bugs on the tracks. Really fun.
It's like a more floaty, and snow-filled feeding frenzy! I love it!
Powerpoint. Hm, that was a bold choice of a tool to use. Nice job though. I wonder if it would have been easier to maybe have done a like text adventure? haha
Fun game, but it was definitely hard to play on my nexus 5.
Really soothing. Like bubble wrap.
Yes! Bjorn and I did it! but it was mostly him and his luscious hair.
Anyways, pretty fun game, the humor was great. excellent entry. :)
Oh my, that was great!
Really cool idea, I like the way the different sections loaded in. I'd say the movement was too floaty and fast, but other people have already told you that, so I would suggest maybe a grid based movement? Anyways, really nice entry!
Pretty fun shooter! Nothing super crazy but it was done pretty well! Tons of upgrades!
@TerraCottaFrog I realized that by the second day I would have to do a lot of work to get this into something really fun, so I just pushed to get it functioning.
@foxor
It might be because your residents started dying before you had the resources to sustain them. What works for me in the beginning is to place down two housing units, a power station, a water extractor and then another house and a farm. then at that point I am making enough resources to keep my residents alive enough to put down more housing and a mine. Then it's just a game of balance after that. Definitely can't expect a player to know that though.
@Halleflux Thanks for the input and I definitely agree. It was a problem that I knew I was going to have, but sometimes you just have to go for it. ;)
@Enrymion Awesome job! it looks like the water extractors were too far away from the power plant. They usually have to be within two blocks to get power. There are a lot of UI/UX cues I didn't get a chance to implement that would help. Thanks for the input!
Awesome puzzle game. Really fun, occasional bug (ball stuck on invisible wall). And it seems like only one line can clear at a time? Anyways, really fun puzzle game!
Now this is really awesome! The animations are great and the attacking feels great. Just wow!
I really like the art style! Dealing with the watchers are a bit hard, but not too bad. Not sure what I was supposed to do at first either. Good job. :)
That was pretty awesome. The ambient sound made the whole thing kinda creepy lol.
A nice tower defense. So many upgrades.
I love the timelapse effects! Awesome work!
I was told by someone who rated my game that it reminded them of your entry, and I will say yours is much more polished!
Awesome job! Very polished and perfect for the theme. Would make an excellent (and fairly easy) port to mobile and pretty much needs no changes to be released. Really awesome game!
It's hard to be a bug!
The flying mechanics are pretty cool, kinda clunky, but that's more by nature rather than poor design. I just can't manage to move around fast enough to kill all the other bugs. Awesome job!
Looks great, and an interesting concept. Two button controls work well.
I like the though of some evil squid god tormenting this particular bunny. It's amusing.
@TerraCottaFrog Oh yeah! oops! I meant to change the distance and height of the camera before submitting... I wonder if that's allowed.
@GAFBlizzard I've swapped out the WebGL Build in favor of a webplayer. :)
This is awesome, I love seeing the growth and life happening. My only complaint is that after I set up the initial conditions, everything seems to happen on it's own and without any real problems. Making it less of a game and more of a fishbowl. Still awesome nonetheless.
Nice little sim/city builder. Only issue for me is that it moves pretty slow and it's not really difficult at all.
Fun idea, though the controls don't seem that responsive.
Looks great, really polished. Really no problems at all!
First of all, the game looks great. The two button controls were done well and just looked really polished! Great job!
Alright, so first off, obviously pretty bare bones, but that is fine. If you want to develop this further (for learning or other reasons) here's what I recommend adding:
Add some button diversity, make each button prompt be a random letter key on the keyboard, and with that make the time the button is up longer.
Add some negative consequences to not pressing the right button, maybe shrink the tree a bit, but not as much as it grows.
Add some animations for response to input, ie make the screen flash red when you hit the wrong key or make the buttons "pop" when you press them.
Add a timer and a way to see that when they grow the tree enough.
Lastly, add a non-static background, maybe a scrolling repeating graphic?
Anyways, you may find that useful, or you may not. Good luck and have fun developing! :)
Just an FYI, with the NPAPI plugins being discontinued in most browsers, I think it will be difficult for people to play your game. Try building for windows standalone at least so you have a fallback. :)
Played with my Girlfriend, we're now broken up.
Just Kidding, it was really awesome with two people though.
I think I broke my keyboard....
Pretty nice an simple game. Nice way to get around the two button controls with the double tap, though that did mess me up a few times.
I'm actually very impressed by this. It was very strategic for such a simple mechanic and the colors made it even more so. I liked it a lot. Also the platform you did this on is insane... Great job!
I really liked the the idea of just doing massive destruction. Pretty great idea!
I love the physics based gameplay idea. Just a little upset I couldn't get the bunny suit. Awesome job!
Awesome. It's like a stealth puzzle game. A little slow though and could use some music.
Really liked the terminal and sound effects. Really difficult to find the mimics...
An adorable little puzzle game!
Thanks for all the awesome feedback so far guys. I really appreciate it! I love this community <3
@everyone thanks for the feedback guys. Really love it.
@Griz I just recently patched it with bug fixes controller support and a former of a checkpoint system, but I might update it and expand it a bit in the future. Totally depends on the feedback I get here and other projects I happen to fall into.
@Freank Hey Thanks for checking it out! I just went through the process of putting my game up on your site. It was a little confusing at first. but here is the link:
http://www.indiexpo.net/en/games/lycanquest
Thanks!
Hey MrMordem, thanks for playing! Unfortunately, looks like the error you got is related to how itch.io serves up their content. :/
At first it was pretty relaxed, then I got like 15 arrows at once. That was intense.
Fun game, music was fun. I just got done playing rhythm games at the arcade so it was a bit slow for me. Lol. The only real gripe I had was that the Chorus status got in the way of seeing notes.
Awesome job! I was able to get through to the second level, but using the second form to hit those posts behind the grate proved too difficult for me. Sound is good, art is great. Solid entry.
Wow, that was difficult.. lol
Awesome amount of content.. Graphics look pretty nice. Low Poly + Bloom really is really used to a good effect. As for the gameplay, I liked the idea, but unfortunately I think it's a little too difficult at first. Immediately spawning in with enemies is tough, but what makes it hard is the birds with lasers before I've gotten any upgrades. With a few tweaks this could really shine, and with a bit more polish would make an excellent release. They really just destroy me! lol Maybe not for the weak but, aesthetics were great, the animations were pretty good too! Overall Solid entry.
This was awesome. One of my favorites so far. Super polished. Obviously could be better with more mechanics. Maybe a Abe's Odyssey type game.
Great job! Pretty difficult for me.
Really liked the idea, though you definitely picked a hard one I think. Good work :)
Very cool strategy game, good execution. With a bit more polish this could be great. Nice job.
I liked the shader you used for the sphere look, the puzzles were good too. I just wish there were some checkpoints or something.
@ctjet99 Sorry, have been editing the page. There are now instructions on the page.
@ctjet99 Thanks for playing and for the kind words! Tutorialization was unfortunately one of the things that just couldn't get squeezed in to the timeframe. Though it would have been great!
@Turncoda Thanks so much for playing. This is amazing. I don't know why but it is pretty flattering when someone has spent enough time with your game to find a bug like this. :relaxed: I spent like 15 minutes flying around in this new "attack helicopter mode" getting vengeance on the slimes I unwittingly buffed at the last minute. :smiling_imp: As a matter of fact the whole game got re-tuned for a higher difficulty right at the end. Really goes to show how important it is to get some outside people to test your game.
I'm going to leave this "speedrun exploit" an open secret for now.
The writing for the newspapers is great. It is funny and relevant. Super well made as well, graphics are nice and the sound is good. Nice work :)
As some people have said the jumping is a bit weird, the double jump was kind of counter intuitive.
Very cool idea! Well executed as well!
Wow the rare online multiplayer game in Ludum Dare. The controls are strange, would have been nice to be able to aim with the mouse or with the arrow keys rather than q and e. Other than that it is a rather enjoyable game. I'm on kinda of a crappy connection at the moment, but the lag didn't seem too bad. Nice work!
I do indeed have the power! Pretty simple game, but the art and sounds drove it. I like the rendition of the last supper. ;)
I really like the animations and models. Gameplay was a bit simplistic, but it was really polished!
Really dig the art style and effects. Turning and movement speed could be faster to make it more frantic as others have said. Nice work!
Well done, the graphics look great and the sounds are good. Definitely has potential, I'm sure there are other puzzle/action mechanics you could incorporate.
This is an excellent concept, but it is really difficult. Maybe if it were structured more like golf it would give some room for people to learn about maneuvering the blocks. But perhaps you were going for difficulty! Solid work on the models and sounds, though some music would have been a benefit for this game a lot
Very well made puzzles, though I did get trapped near the end. I really like how much mileage you get out of these crystals cramming 3 mechanics into them! I only really have two gripes with the game (and they are kind of subjective One is that movement should be locked to a grid, there were times when I'd have to move the crystal 2 or 3 times so my shots were refracted where I wanted them to go. The second being that there should be some form of checkpoint system + a reset button. Near the end of the game I got myself trapped while experimenting and was unable to get out. All in all a solid entry!
The graphics and sound are very nice, not much in the way of gameplay though. I kept expecting a monster to pop out lol. Nice job on the ambiance!
Hey I was unable to run that, it never started up for me. Windows 10 should be ok right?
I really like the player sprite the animations are well done. The music is also really nice. One thing that would have been nice is some form of a checkpoint system. Good job keep working on games :)
Like everyone else before me, the visuals are good for sure. The glow adds a lot. Some issues, besides the reset bug and lack of audio, the player controller is kind of weird, the character continues to move after I let up the key, but then comes to a halt. Maybe gravity value on the input? Anyways nice job, these jams are hard and you did something new to you and I'm sure you've learned a lot. :)
Graphics are nice, could be a little easier.
The game worked pretty well for me, no crashes or anything. I really like the visuals for the map, but I wish the tiles would appear when I further away, it would have saved me from placing that wire in the wrong spot! lol Nice work!
Wow, that is a striking visual style. I enjoy the art style, it looks good. The sound effects were good as well. But I do think that the dimension switching should have been on a toggle. got kinda awkward holding down shift. :stuck_out_tongue:
Watching the arrows and also avoiding the eye monsters at the end was pretty difficult. Cool concept and solid platforming. Nice work!
Cool, frantic shooter. I like that the zombies have glowing eyes. Looks really cool when running from a horde. It's a simple game but it does it very well. Nice job.
This concept was pretty cool. I enjoyed the upgrades as well. I am not a big fan of constantly retracing my steps, though the teleporters fix that kinda.
The models look really good, but I did have issues with the way he controls. Should be more responsive, but he keeps moving even after I let go of the key, also the gun seemed to not do anything, improving how that looks would greatly improve the game feel. :)
Reminds me of some old flash games, tapping a bit of nostalgia. I was able to get through the game and get all of the collectibles I think. Forgot to record my score though, oh well.
I ran into one bug at the end. As the enemies fell they stacked up and when I destroyed one they floated in the air. Gave me a nice ammo boost when I stomped on all of them .
As for the gameplay; The platforming was fun, not too difficult but not too easy imo. Wall jumping was fun and saved me a lot. The first level was a little annoying with the parallaxed "trees" in front. It would be much better if they were in the background. Also It would be cool if the boss flashed when you hit him or something. I couldn't tell when I was landing bullets or really when I could shoot him.
Overall this is pretty impressive for 72 hours. Good job!
Nice job, the lander controls very well. I only wish that there was a way to skip the tutorial so I could reattempt faster.
Really deceptively difficult. The humor of it is what kept me playing. The walking part was just really annoying tbh, but it really did add to the humor of it. Great job!
Nice simple strategy game I like it. Add some animations, and an AI and it'd be basically done lol. Nice work
I appreciate the amount of work that must have went into this. It's pretty fully featured. With that said, the tutorial/intro is a bit long winded for this audience (I kinda did the same thing with my game...), and the battle mechanics are a not as clear, I found myself dying a lot for reasons beyond my comprehension not able to finish the tutorial, and lastly the music was kind of out of place. The banter during the tutorial is pretty good, and it's nice to see effort like that in this kind of entry. Overall, I think it was decently made and clearly had a lot of effort put into it.
First off, I love the concept, adding more rows as you get higher points. In mind that you were crunched for time, some things that would be useful would be some indication of how on beat I am ("Great", "OK",etc..), also a score display on screen telling me my multiplier would be cool. Third song is my favorite, first too felt samey, considering after only playing the first one I still wasn't good enough to get more than 2 lanes. Overall, well done!
Wow, it is pretty crazy how similar our games were. I really enjoyed the graphics, and the enemy AI was really cool, reminded me of a wizzrobe from Zelda. The controls were pretty clunky and that seemed unnecessary, it made it difficult with the pretty skilled enemy lol. Overall very nice job, and a bit... uncanny.
Nice job, controls feel responsive. Decent amount of challenge. HTML5 version seemed to work fine for me.
Movement was pretty rough, jumping when I was near the edge of a ledge didn't seem to work (maybe just my perception, ledge forgiveness is in a lot of platformers). Graphics and audio blend well together for the atmosphere. The bats were cool, I was able to combine a few of them into a super bat and rode him to the end of that section, but after that I'm a bit lost. Overall decent entry, if a little buggy.
Edit: I forgot to mention this bug I encountered where if I went up to a locked door and pressed up to enter I got locked there and had to kill the game.
Wow great art. I played on Android and it was pretty cool. Managed to build the castle completely I think. Some kind of indicator that you are or aren't done would be cool. Just not sure if there is a way to open that chest.... Hmmm..
Awesome concept, would be great on mobile. Well put together too. Lots of polish. Nice work!
The inventory system was very cool and worked well. I wish that each trader listed what they would give me in return so I could prioritize. Overall really well made game.
Changing the sensitivity slider didn't seem to work, but I play FPS games at low sensitivity anyways as it helps with tracking so it was fine for me. I think most competitive FPS players will play at lower sensitivities as well. Not really sure how it fits in with the theme though. Overall good job.
Okay this game is obviously NSFW, but honestly it's the best XXX game I've played, mechanically speaking. It's a solid JRPG-ish game, just very NSFW. The bestiality wasn't really my thing, but that's purely subjective.
Tried once blind, and was completely lost, but once I came back and read the descriptions everything made sense. This is a really good puzzle game. Could be super addicting. Played one board out all the way! Annotation 2019-10-07 193151.png
Interesting game! I love the idea and it was really well executed. The upgrades were also a good time. This has a lot of potential! Hope you work on it further!
The gameplay is smooth and there are a variety of weapons, I found myself mashing E with 2 weapons to carry 2 around with me because backtracking to get ammo and more weapons sucks, especially in the middle of a fight. It was actually pretty difficult.
If hotline miami but with wizards and ASCII art was what you were going for I say you nailed it.
Good job!
Tried on Win10 with an Xbox One controller and a 360 controller and wasn't able to get it working. Even one on keyboard and one on 360 controller didn't work, all register as player 1
Played by myself and man that car is hard to control. I think part of it is that there are only so many sprites so I can't tell exactly which way I am turning. I liked all the characters and really appreciate the effort towards a couch multiplayer game!
Pretty hard to figure out where to go, some subtle hints would have helped (paths, collectables etc) and the camera angle made it hard to see where to go.
Well done! Ended up with a spaceship so big I couldn't turn anymore. I could have warped, but the spaceship kept getting bigger, it was awesome! ...until I ran into some mines. The way the spaceship parts combined was really good the bigger the ship got the cooler it looked!
Love the sound the sheep make. I found the fact that they roll away from you makes the game harder than it needs to be. Especially on level 6, as soon as I move a bunch of them fly off the edge lol. Overall though a well made game
The graphics are great, and 'on the nose' with the theme. Well done
It wasn't really clear which things crafted into what, so I ended up collecting too much of one thing and basically couldn't move at all :P Also the graphics seem pretty messed up in the web version.
I can appreciate the work that went into this  well done.
Adorable! I love my doggo army.
This game was awesome. I made a giant monstrosity at the end and now I am sad it ended. This has a lot of potential. Hope to see more levels
Very interesting take on the theme. Graphics look good and audio was good
Controlling the black hole was a little hard, and I wasn't really sure on how the mechanics work. I got to what I think is the end, I ate way more bad guys than good guys (I guess). Not sure if that's trying to say something about humanity lol. Well done
Thanks for sharing your game  I noticed that sometimes when the plants were ready to be harvested they would all disappear and I wouldn't get all the money.
@shunt it only seemed to happen to the corn.
Just got to a stopping place while doing some cross country traveling lemme take a look at the webgl version and rate some more games thanks everyone for playing and letting me know of the issues.
@cary-stanley Thanks for that did not have much time to research that issue! I have reuploaded the webgl version and it seems to be working! Thanks a million
Seeing the screenshots and and stuff posted I'd love to try this game. I'll have to come back when I have access to a windows PC. Currently stuck on the road with a macbook, but I will definitely circle back when I can.
edit: just saw that there is a web version. Playing through now
Wow that is super impressive. The concept took a bit to get my head around it but after I was able to push around what I thought was just the UI and replace parts of the stack. Just wow! Like baba is you + a Zachtronics game.
The art is really well done, just wish the controls were a bit more responsive. Early on it can be a bit boring, but once it gets faster going it is more fun.
Cool concept love the idea of a hand made procedural dungeon. I was able to figure out the rules pretty fast it was very intuitive. Lots of potential here!
This is insanely polished! Really nicely done.
I really appreciated the voice lines. The concept also fits the theme very well. Almost got to all the fishies, would be nice if the O2 tanks replenished more oxygen or if there were some underwater air vents that replenished oxygen without upgrading it, with how floaty the sub was I found it kind of hard to get to some of the fishes and oxygen tanks.
Gotta love space games :) I liked the way you visualized the different force vectors.
Would be awesome to get a MacOS build
Awesome concept, I like the indirect control of it. Kind of like a mining overcooked. Could be fun with more players
Nice take on the theme. The left hand controls didn't work on mac for me though. (couldn't use left ctrl, shift or cmd to lower the left hand)
Very cool concept, it was a bit slow though. Most of the time I was able to get the aliens with the first trap unless I mis-clicked. Music was very good, and the pixel-particle effects were cool. Had a lot of fun just clicking to load the screen up with particles lol.
Awesome graphics, some better feedback for when things are done correctly would go a long way. Also at one point I got a dead patient with no feet so no way to put a toe tag on.. not sure what to do there. Awesome presentation though, wouldn't have guessed it was made for Ludum Dare :D
As a linux user this was a bit too real lol.
Wow a whole RPG in here! Nicely done!
Having the different weapons for each level is a nice concept, I wanted to try them all out. A check point system would have been nice. also if the enemies were a tad bit more interesting.
Very good, and multifaceted use of the theme! Only wish the ball felt a little "heavier", and that there was an extra control scheme where the controls were all on one side of the keyboard, so one could play with one hand it would be more accessible.
Cool concept, really liked the idea of timelines, and that it randomized each time. Was able to destabilize a few timelines lol.
What a cool concept. Executed very well. The levels 10-12 felt amazing once I figured them out but were really hard. This game is really fun!
Fits the theme very well! Gameplay was fun, got challenging towards the end! Nice submission!
The effects & music were doing a great job at selling the mood. Made it home successfully!
Good mechanic, love the inclusion of the speedrun timer. But this *needs* an option to lock the cursor or fullscreen. Couldn't beat it because I kept clicking outside of the game window, defocusing the window at important times. Other than that I can tell this game is very polished and has a great soundtrack.
@frozendoze unfortunately not an option for me at the moment :(
@sega23333 yeah there was a planned mechanic for the main character to be a bomb and enemy kills to delay his detonation, but unfortunately time constraints nixed that. Now you can delay the inevitable end of the game by procrastination! Lol
@dan-allison thanks for playing! I really focused on the character controller this time trying to improve my skills in that area.
@lonelyliongames yeah I agree scale was not something I accounted for very well. I think it really needs a shrink and some more enemy types. Thanks for playing!
Really nicely done, interactions were really interesting and there were so many of them.
Cool idea, I enjoyed the game. Got stuck and had to restart from the very beginning a few times due to the blocks not resetting when restarting from the checkpoint. I enjoyed the mechanics though and it was cool to see how the physics were integrated into that.
Love the art and animations!
Nice game, love the aesthetic. It is an interesting take on the infinite runner with the lanes themselves having health.
Awesome idea for a game, the mechanics are interesting (not to mention timely!). I feel like it is pretty well executed as well! Nicely done!
Nice strategy survival game, ultimately I ended up doing a run where I just placed science buildings and unlocked every building then I tried my best to survive as long as possible and built a few forts. In the end my mega city was doomed, very fitting for the theme.
Cool 3D brawler! The animations and 3D models look great. The motion blur is definitely too much, it made me nauseous. As others have mentioned locking the cursor would help with playability as well. I couldn't make it too far unfortunately since it was making me feel sick. That said, there is definitely lots of potential here, nice work!
Very enjoyable game. Some more punch to the attacks would go a long way. The secondary attack was cool, holding it down to spin, I wish there was more reason to set up multiple kills like that. Having the portrait animation overlay was an interesting touch, though the sprite animations could have a bit more weight. Awesome narrative with the comic book intro, great entry.
Wow the graphics and UI are incredible! that volumetric fog is really cool. Animations on the baddies look great! polish is just superb here. That said, the gameplay itself is pretty minimalistic, the added powerups are great, and it would be cool to have some more powerups like attack speed boost or movement speed boost. It was also a bit unclear where my bullets were going, some more feedback on hit would go a long way. All around though a great entry. Good work!
Graphics are great and the audio plays really well into setting the mood. Gameplay was a bit boring for me, but it was definitely in line with the theme!
Awesome strategy game. Everything worked smoothly, really awesome work, especially for a game jam!
@seanjordan Thanks for playing! I definitely wanted to have more time dedicated to designing levels and playtesting, but I think a lot of the mechanics took longer to implement than expected.
@anatintti Thank you! yeah the game definitely needed more tutorialization & some refinement of the stealth gameplay
Nice stuff! really brought the creepy atmosphere. It would have been nice to have to use the stamina/sprint mechanics more. Great ending!
Environment was very moody, but the sound effects made me chuckle. Nice entry!
Wow so much polish! Really liked the game mechanics, but I was able to cheese it by mashing the keys. Great entry!
Very polished. Love the art style!
That was a wild ride, felt like a bit like a quirky Shonen Anime. I really enjoyed it though! I liked how the story progressed. I liked the companion NPC and their "Tips", which were helpful to unlock everything. I had way more seeds than I could plant and definitely had so much ammo at the end. The boss fight at the end was pretty entertaining and a nice cap to the story, though it would have been awesome to see some variety in the mechanics.
The game feels good to play and the mechanics are fun! Really liked all of the tower/plant variety.
Love this, simple and almost meditative. I wish I could rate it :(
Just fyi, I don't think lots of people would be willing to install a game like that. It would be best if you could just provide the executable + assets.
Great game! graphics were really outstanding!
Custom engine? Cool stuff!
Thanks for playing!
@pauljs yeah I agree, this time around I really focused on having a complete game loop and sound effects, but ended up short on time for the upgrade system variety and enemy variety.
I uploaded a new version that should be much more crash resilient, and also fixed an error in my random selection that was excluding some upgrades. I also made a small tweak to display 6 upgrades instead of just 3 so you can get powerful pretty fast.
Not a huge fan of rage games but I gave this a go. The atmosphere is great, love the grainy grayscale filter. As far as the mechanic goes I like the idea. And once I connected the pentagrams to the location of the demon spawn things made more sense and I could be more tactical. That said I think there are a few bugs like where you enter a sliding state when diagonal to a slope. Probably not the intended method of rage inducement.
Love the art style and the narrator is a good addition.
This is great! Love this take on the auto battler!
Very moody horror game. That was legitimately creepy.
This is was a very immersive experience, the forest "puzzle" was really trippy. I appreciated the path that circles the forest after that part as I was lost. Some good world design there.
I did have to restart once because I walked off the dock and fell into the void, and once I got the metal noose and stepped outside, not sure where to go, I went back to the boathouse and I couldn't leave till I interacted with the table. Upon interacting I got the mask again and was able to leave, once outside the game crashed.
Pretty sweet, like the sound track! :metal: The main game loop was pretty satisfying, picking up the coins with the mouse especially.
There were way more combinations than I thought there would be! Most gold reviews I could get was 3. Seemed pretty random based on what items you get in the inventory. I really liked the different story outcomes based on some of the monsters you choose, that's really what kept me playing through. The correct choice is not really clear based just on the customers portrait alone. Overall really enjoyable!
Nice little tower defense game, really liked the graphics. Had some trouble initially getting the game to load, but it worked fine after I installed the .Net library you linked on your itch.io page.
Hm, I couldn't figure out how to stamp the papers, after attempting to stamp something the button stopped working. I tried to download the desktop version but it couldn't run.
Fun little auto clicker. I enjoyed progressing through the different tiers of summons.
Very polished and a very nice mood. reminded me of lethal company!
Awesome art and music! Couldn't resist the cool clouds in the beginning :skull:
