Cool entry! I love your interpretation of the theme :)
Congrats on your entry :) I agree with most of the comments above, the game is quite fun and keeps you playing, but I would have loved to see my current score, having enemies spawned in a more "controlled" way, and be able to move with arrow keys. Still a fun little game!
Congrats for your entry! Nice polish on this game, makes it easy to get into :) I agree with the comments above, suggesting more variety in the shooting phases, but still very cool!
Congrats on your entry :) The main mechanic is fun and keeps you entertained. I liked the musical theme as well, despite being simple, it's very catchy! I just had a few little bugs about what kind of candy crops I would plant, but nothing stopping me from playing the game.
Congrats for your entry! I loved the amount of different power ups, keeps me playing until I was sure to have seen them all :) Blowing enemies up with the C4 was a blast. If there was one improvement to make I would suggest the control scheme maybe? (move + jump with arrows/WASD).
Very good feel and a well balanced game :) well done for this great entry!
Works very well, I almost went for a typing game myself. Great entry :)
This track is amazing :v: when I was finished with the game I just spammed Space just to listen to it
Congrats on completing your game :) I love the base mechanics, I think it would make a very fine game on mobile especially. When the zombies start chasing you really makes you spam that left click, this is great.
I really like the idea of putting together your your own car, fits the theme and incentivize you to keep exploring the map for new pieces. It was quite hard to know what to do at first though, I spent most of the first half of the game simply walking through the map, bumping into objects and pushing them around. Good job overall though!
Beautiful art. The ambient track is very soothing. Good job
I liked the small and concise open world/hub ;) I tried to fight monsters in the towers a few time but couldn't even win a battle. Even the little bats were stronger than my hero :(
Good meditation game. Would have some potential as a relaxing mobile game.
This is a great game. Do all the players have access to all the choices or do you do a random pull out of everything that has been entered so far? It's really brilliant. It's making me want to share it with friends, and create a story together.
Man I wish I could pet these cute spiders instead of killing them all. Maybe that's what the character is trying to do nonetheless? the way he akwardly moves its sword around...maybe he's just after hugs!
Thanks everyone for the feedback and nice words!
@wansou Thanks! I'm super excited about a few ideas for levels, cards and items. I even coded a basic level editor during the jam, but didn't get the time to use it...I'll wait until the 20days of the rating period are over before adding any other content, or maybe make a second version on itch...
Thanks everyone for the feedback and for reporting the bugs you encounter. I'll do my best to fix them!
Thanks a lot for all the feedback! It's really *heart*warming to see you all enjoying the game. I'll definitely release additional levels, cards and fixes in a more complete version after the jam :smiley_cat:
Thanks everyone for leaving reviews and playing the game!
@reheated thanks for the detailed feedback  indeed, in its current state, it's not really roguelite. It was actually intended to be, and the random map system is half coded, but I cut it before the end of the jam as I was running out of time. I forgot to update the descriptions and texts...The final game is intended to have procedural elements/maps though. Regarding Humor, I kinda forgot to remove it from the rating as well haha...
@jordantanner thanks :) Usually, I use either : - hard-coded Lerp with some easings - an Animator with the different movements/steps as animations - or the DOTween plugin, which is quite nice
I'm sure the cards' movement is hard-coded, but I think I used an Animator for the tutorial.
Cheers!
Beautiful game, good job. I really enjoyed the soundtrack, would be worth it to release a music video with the game in the background :)
A very relaxing puzzle game, good job! I really can picture it with smaller, more contained levels. I really liked the metroidvania vibe of the large world though :)
@kazatan I was confused by the controls as well: use left click (you can hold it down) to have your character follow the cursor.
superb  it's very soft and appealing. I really liked the obstacles/enemy patterns, but some of them felt a bit unfair/too hard, clashing with the overall peacefulness of the game (which can be both a good and a bad point I guess). I'm not sure I understood what all the items (rock, water...) did. (FYI I got stuck a few times behind the pedestal here, and couldn't get out (collider issue?)): aze.PNG
Cute game :) nicely done!
Cool game, I liked the 80's synths and overall retro vibe. As mentionned above, the controls felt a bit too sensitive, the "character" was hard to control with precision. I think it's mainly because the camera doesn't have an "elastic band" effect. As a result you get confused as soon as you jump because your perspective changes. After a while though, I got the hang of it and could complete the levels :)
Good ending :ok_hand: :scream_cat:
Good job on completing your entry :) I don't get why the fork is so expensive, but considering this is the only question I ask myself when I'm punching zombies on scooters while I'm half-naked, maybe I need to reconsider what I believe in.
I don't know what these signs are, but my cat went crazy when they started dancing on the screens. Fun entry, good job :)
I absolutely loved the aesthetic, the 8-bit sound effects and the simple yet *super* effective pixel art were very charming. My only regret is that I tried to pet a little bunny but killed it instead :(
Nice entry! good job :) As mentioned above, I took one or two hits early on as I though I couldn't shoot through the core. But overall pretty fun!
Effective puzzle game! You can see there are a lot of creative ways to solve levels :) great entry
Congrats on making this entry :) I really like your take and the theme, which is pretty fun. Might be me, but I struggle so much to get this first berry. Maybe the timer could be a bit more permissive at first?
Attempts failed in frustration: Capture.PNG
Nice entry :) Having the shooting kinda sync with the music is a very nice (intended??) touch! I found it oddly satisfying to hold my own live concert of dozens of tiny ships.
Cool entry! I like your take on the theme, there is a good feeling. I think it'd be interesting to have snappier controls at low speed to aim more precisely. Good job!
Congrats on completing your entry :) Very fun take on the theme! It felt like all the rounds were actually the same level again and again. I think it would benefit for more diversity in the chopsticks layout/rythm.
Nice entry! I think the Paradox mechanic adds a very nice twist :) I reached the evil squid but couldn't manage to kill it unfortunately.
congrats on the entry! cool game, well polished :) really enjoyable.
Great entry! the art and music are top notch and everything feel very polished. Good job! PS: These damn trees keep getting in my way!
Good job! I like your take on the theme and the wiggling webs are so satisfying :) Pretty fun overall! It's a tiny bit tedious to click on the point to move along the web, and pretty stressful when a big spider is chasing after you, but maybe that's the point? I would have appreciated alternative, snappier controls with keys, to move the bee.
I loved the pixel art in there  solid entry, pretty fun game.
Thank you everyone for playing the game! I'm very glad you liked it  @diego-teran Thanks for your feedback. Would you mind elaborating on what kind of bugs you encountered please? :)
@incd021 Thanks for playing! I'm sorry you encountered this weird bug. I think it's probably some shader file not loading properly on the browser you're using :/
@ms-annotation-x Oh that's weird. May I ask what browser your're using? I'm building a standalone for you right now. Are you on Mac or PC?
@purrseus thanks, it means a lot, I'm glad you liked the game(s)
@ms-annotation-x I've just added the Windows build link above. You can find the .zip file on the itch.io page: https://zak-amana.itch.io/glitchloop . Let me know if you encounter any issue :) I'm sorry the browser version isn't working, I'm using Chrome as well and didn't meet any trouble :( Have fun playing!
Hey @thygrrr ! haha thanks a lot for your enthusiasm, it means a lot, I'm glad you liked the game :) I've written a short [post mortem/breakdown of how I made the game here](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/glitch-loop/compo-debrief-the-making-of-glitchloop). If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
@amolker Thanks for your feedback! I've spotted and fixed the bugs you've encountered, I've just uploaded a new build, thanks!
@sh80 thanks for playing! I'd like to, I have more level ideas/mechanics in mind. I'm working on another -bigger- project right now but if I have a little bit of time I'll add a few more worlds to Glitch Loop.
@bitdecay thanks for playing! You can actually do a quick reset of the level with space bar :) it refreshes the whole thing and prevent your clone from appearing (controls at the top right of the screen)
thanks a lot @thygrrr :>
A drifting cow, what more could you ask for? Nice entry, controlling the cow feels a bit clumsy but that's the point, so it makes it quite fun. Does the difficulty rises up as you complete more loops? didn't feel like it but I might be wrong.
@vollfeiw Thanks for the explanation! Might be too simple, but I was expecting more bombs/less milk(?) to pop up as I ran around the loop, just to challenge me on my cow-piloting skills :)
I love the wormhole mechanic, adds a nice touch. I wish it had a bit more feedback as I wasn't sure how many I had per level / why sometime it wouldn't pop up as I clicked. Overall nice entry with quite a lot of levels! Good job :)
Great entry! Minimal art, but the puzzles are great with neat controls and a relaxing soundtrack. It's so satisfying to find the sweet spot and see the ball get stuck in a (almost) perfect loop! Very fun to play with :)
Great puzzle with a wonderful ending. The art is beautiful and the sounds are delightful. Brilliant!
Cool concept, congrats on your entry :) I think the idea works well, it has good potential, especially on mobile. I would have loved to see: - some kind of reward when killing enemies - maybe a timer or a lesser slow mo when preparing a move, to increase the difficulty (otherwise it's a bit easy to just wait indefinitely for the right moment to move next to an enemy) - some reward/shop/stuff to do in the secret rooms :)
Thanks everyone for playing the game & for your feedback! Really appreciate it
- @zohar thanks for reporting it! just fixed it. - @elzach I agree 100%. I didn't have the time to do the balancing tweaks at the end of the compo, so the game's pace could definitely be improved. - @martynas @the-baldur I got up early but managed to sleep well both days. Unity is my daily tool so I know how to hack my way through it to make ~~broken~~ prototypes efficiently. As usual, I'll post a Compo post mortem in the next few days explaining the process! - @plusminus thanks for pointing that out! just fixed it.
Hello! Thanks everyone for playing the game, leaving feedback and reporting bugs, thank you so much!
To answer a few questions:
- @amolker : thanks for reporting it! I just fixed it :) - @abigailcorfman : you actually have to press the Up Arrow/W key (or Z if you have an AZERTY) to hit monsters above you. I agree it lacks explanation. Sorry about that! - @anshul-k : I made a system in which I can design "patches" of blocks to create interesting situations (e.g. a gem surrounded by monsters). Then these patches are randomly assembled. I have different patches with different spawn probabilities according to the depth you're at (e.g. hard, purple blocks only appear starting 45m deep). Honestly, it's not well balanced, and I didn't have time to create many patches :( but the system is easily expandable upon! I'll talk more about it in a post-mortem blogpost. - @sirkovitch i <3 u
Regarding the comments about how I made this in 48h, as a disclaimer I'm an indie dev, I've been making jams regularly for several years and I have a background in art. All of these make it so that I'm fairly effective when it comes to prototyping stuff fast, even though it's quite broken if you look under the hood haha.
Since I scoped small for [my previous entry]("https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/glitch-loop"), I decided to challenge myself for LD48 with a larger scope. Had to cut down a few things still (enemies & blocks), but I still managed to get the general idea. Hope you'll enjoy the game!
@schwede hey! not really a devlog, but I did a post mortem of this compo here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/bunny-bunny-dig-dig/bunny-bunny-dig-dig-a-compost-mortem
Thanks everyone for playing the game and giving constructive feedback :) I've fixed additional bugs according to what you mentioned: - bombs' sound is now muted properly when the mute key is pressed - all upgrades now properly turn green when bought - you can't mine faster by using both arrows and WASD anymore - there shouldn't be anymore visual bugs with the bats (I hope)
I didn't put the "hold the button to mine" thing (even though I think everyone is right, it'd be a cool thing to have) because it feels a bit too much like a new feature instead of a bugfix, and I don't want to change the compo version.
Thanks again!
@dhim Hi! well I don't really have time to make many commits & set up a github during a ludum so that's how I usually do. In regular circumstances, I'd definitely do commits at least twice a day, but I also wouldn't do this game in 48h, I'd take time to code stuff properly. Since I work alone on my games Github is mostly a save and sync tool between my computers.
Thanks a lot everyone for playing the game and all the heartwarming comments and useful feedback :)
@jitspoe thanks a lot for making a video! I noticed you didn't enter the elevators located on the side when you dig, I probably should have made them more visually noticeable. They allow you to get out with all of your loot. Great run though, thank again!
Thanks everyone for playing the game and leaving some feedback :)
@thiefviolinist [I wrote a post mortem here]("https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/bunny-bunny-dig-dig/bunny-bunny-dig-dig-a-compost-mortem") where I talk a bit more about how I approached level generation if you want!
Brilliant, I love all about it.
I love the twist on the controls, it adds a lot of depth to a simple yet very effective concept! The cat is beautifully animated and the colors and textures are delightful, everything feel fluffy and dreamy. It's also well balanced to be challenging and fun at the same time! Congrats on your entry!
This is absolutely gorgeous. Many moments in the game had me smiling, it's full of poetry and has an amazing aesthetics. Great job!
Best run animation out there.
Good concept, LD is pretty fun, adding polished graphics could make something cool :)
I like the take on the numpad weapon. Using the actual numpad could have been less frustrating maybe
I can't get the HTML5 version to work :(
Very nice audio and glitch effect, I liked the game a lot, even though I think power ups/modifiers would have made it a great little thing with cool replayability
I think you should add feedbacks or other graphics to make the difference between power up and ennemies'projectiles. Cool retro style, nice job :)
Ow. Great music.
I loved the graphics and the general atmosphere. However, the joystick controls did not really fit for this, and it got pretty frustrating. But as always, good stuff :)
Nice thing you achieved with camera and controls. Too bad the graphics and boundaries/polishing aren't there. I'd like to see a finished version of this one !
Good, but I find the progression a bit slow. Nice job.
A pretty nice game, well executed! good take on graphics, audio and theme, all efficient. Nice work, your little clouds cheered me up :)
You killed it guys
Hey ! Thank you all for your comments :)
It was a very weird game jam for us three, we had a lot of other work to do, so we could only spend 7-8 hours a day on Voo&Doo. We somehow managed to put the assets into a game we had a bit of fun playing. I am sorry if you think there is a lack of explanation, we tried though, adding tutorials in game. However, due to the lack of time, we did'nt manage to add the boss we wanted and a few levels.
Have fun playing !
Good job for your first game !
The concept is good, but it would have been cool to push it further, maybe adding different body parts with different shapes, or even a race between two players to infect the same body...
Cool stuff. Was waiting for this one.
Nicely done! A bit hard to understand where you're going, but the upgrades make it fun. Good job !
Cool game, controls are great :)
