Sublime, the amount of strategy actually went into a typing game was surprising, my only fault with this game is that it ended too soon! Keep it up!

rekeben 2018-04-24 03:33

Oh my gosh, this game is amazing, I didn't think speed typing could be this fun, thanks for this.

burgee 2018-04-24 03:38

I love typing games so I was super excited to see this. It's neat paired with a card game too since it adds a sort of real time element to it.

I don't think i quite grasped what switching active lanes does - the cards seemed to always go to the next available lane. maybe I was goofing up.

I lost on level 3 just the same, the creature names got deceptively long and I got a little overwhelmed. It definitely got easier when I was able to memorize the card pictures and associate them with the names though. I liked the music and art, and overall the idea hit the theme better than anything i've played yet.

drmargarido 2018-04-24 03:41

Really nice game  ! Loved the ideia and the mood. My writing velocity is going through the roof ahahah!

dragonslumber 2018-04-24 03:42

Very clever idea, congrats!

afroant 2018-04-24 03:42

Why the must cards have such long names :'(

I was all smiles the whole way through. Great job!

P.S. Please nerf Pot of Greed

krunoslav 2018-04-24 03:46

Very nice game, creative and very fun! It takes me a minut to understand the mechanics but then I realized that it was explained, it is a card game! Thank you.

fashionbatman 2018-04-24 06:26

This was wonderful! I especially loved the art and music. It took me a while to get the mechanics but I'm not very good at card games. Great job!

tg1397 2018-04-24 06:26

This was a ton of fun! I might not have been great at the strategizing aspect lol - I just frantically typed the names as fast as possible. I did eventually figure out how to get as many things placed at once though which is super helpful. I'd love to play a longer version of this! I get why the names were long, but I wish there were more, weaker cards that had short names.

zakamana 2018-04-24 08:17

Works very well, I almost went for a typing game myself. Great entry :)

firellon 2018-04-24 08:20

Nice idea!

darylsteak 2018-04-24 08:41

A creative and fun game that I greatly enjoyed, albiet didnt really strategize.

gerardb 2018-04-24 11:19

Great idea and great execution. I love to see big teams like yours coming together to create awesome polished games like this!

dorian-h 2018-04-24 12:30

original as idea :)

zeriver 2018-04-24 13:15

Wow that was really fun! I'm not into typing games but this one is really good, it really forces you to multitask and make good decision quickly. What line to choose, recruit 5 Ryans or get that archer out on the line, really good stuff. Game has also fun background music that sets this lighthearted feel to the gameplay and graphics are also pretty good. In overall, really fun game, great concept and the execution, well done guys!

isopoly 2018-04-24 13:48

That was intense!! Who would of thought typing could get that way lol, Fantastic job!!

brendan-toy 2018-04-24 14:22

not being a card game player, i dont' understand the lane system? if ive got a card recruited then what does changing the lane actually do? I didn't feel it was clear in that respect as to what was doing damage, or why i was taking damage etc. also i'm not that fast at typing so i managed to get passed level one.. but not two lol. basically i'm sure everyone else is right in saying this game is great... i guess i just suck at it haha.

john-timora 2018-04-24 16:35

Awesome Game Well done.

nofoodtoeat 2018-04-24 19:04

I really like the idea and honesty I should play this game a lot more often from now on, but it's quite hard for people typing as slow as me. Thank you for adding a fun way to speed up my typing!

bar0net 2018-04-24 23:24

Nice game! I should play it often because after a couple of games, I think I suck at typing! Also, the art and music are impressive!

simonhutchinson 2018-04-25 01:04

Whoa. Crazy. I love this, but the difficulty curve is a little off the hook. Maybe you could have an easy mode for n00bs like me.

Awesome originality and use of the theme.

pkenney 2018-04-25 01:56

Really cool charming idea. I thought I was a good blind typist, but after playing this for a bit... well, let's just say I'm kind of glad it didn't show me an accuracy score at the end!

The first few moments flat-out bamboozled me. My immediate reaction was OMG that text is so small! I was lounging on the sofa being casual, and I had to get physically closer to the screen and set the keyboard properly on the table. But later I saw that the text names are quite long in some cases, so a larger font is not easy, tough design tradeoff.

The second aspect I struggled with was eye positioning. I needed to watch the battle to learn the rules (I'm glad you didn't tutorialize overmuch) but I also needed to intently squint at card text to type it.

So there was an initial hurdle, but once past that I started getting better and tabbing around to lanes and trying to get some folks into position for battle with some thought to strategy, rather than just furiously typing everything that came up.

And once I settled in I started digging it! I was cool how I could type text that applied to multiple cards, or access cards from multiple zones at the same time, that was a nice touch.

I eventually beat the whole thing and congratulated myself. Honest by then I was sort of in the groove and probably would have gone on a bit further.

This is a cool concept, executed nicely with great art and a grooving OST that set a nice foot-tapping pace that matched the gameplay. Well done!!

diptoman 2018-04-25 08:19

Really cool and unique! The fast pace didn't really leave much thought for which card to play where - I just kept on typing (and it seemed to work for a bit).

Also very impressed with how you guys pulled it off with so many people LOL. Good stuff!

jaime-paz-lopes 2018-04-25 12:01

it is a nice game. but i had some problems, i didn't had time to use any kind of strategy, i type slowly so i only had time to type the card name without thinking of what was the best move. i think that on the first lvls the cards could have a basic name like "soldier" "archer" so I can understand the strategy and get better in the game

alobker 2018-04-25 15:52

It felt like everything was going too fast for me, but it was enjoyable.

smbe19 2018-04-25 19:06

Very interesting idea. It took me quite some time to find out how the game works. While the controls are pretty straight forward it would be nice to have a better explanation on what you are supposed to do. If you are not familiar with that kind of game it is not really obvious.

After some time all the typing got quite annoying, but I guess it just proves that it is incompatible. But as I said, a very interesting twist.

rocketraccoons 2018-04-27 12:43

This is a really cool combo! My browser unfortunately screwed up the graphics, which might either be because I'm using chrome or because some settings are messed up, but gameplay wise it was great. Since the game has a middle ages aesthetic I can't say that electro swing feels like the best choice of music, but the track in itself sounded good!

local-minimum 2018-04-27 16:11

Cool game! I got to the second round. I must say I focused mostly on what I could draft and trying to remember which would cause both drafting and playing the card. The scores I never saw really because they were too far off to the right. So I would suggest moving them to the drafting area to give the player a chance at seeing how they are doing while being busy typing. Some times I got stuck because I didn't realize I was missing a space on a card that I just had happened to fill up partially while dealing with other cards. So perhaps it wouldn't hurt a bit to not include space in what is needing typing. I general a really well made game though!

lameosine 2018-04-30 05:35

This was really really cool! I would've liked to have been able to see the full names of the cards, as the difficulty curve was a bit steep (The Not so Great Goblin Lord of the Swamp got me good!). I really liked the music, and the aesthetic was nice and simple. Loved it!

sarah 2018-04-30 15:28

This game is really fun, and could be a much better way to teach kids typing (remember all the awful typing 'games'). It stands on its own as well, and the music is really catchy. Although typing the names of the cards at the end of it was a bit crazy because one of my fingers is messed up today, making typing a bit weird :P I would definitely play this again!

beebo-studios 2018-05-04 10:25

Wow, amazing idea and implementation! I really love your game! Art, music, everything fits! How insane is the idea, to have the player type the instructions before they are allowed to play?! Great game, have a fish <3 🐟

mr-madcat 2018-05-04 12:14

Oh no, I am way too slow at typing for this game.

But the idea is really cool and it is quite enyojable. Some sound effects wore typing a wrong letter might have been helpful. Also the TAB button to change lanes was kind of awkward.

But otherwise pretty well done. Good job.

serwaastudio 2018-05-06 11:36

I wan't able to write fast enough but it was a really fun game. The most enjoyable i've found so far. Nice art too!

cristiano-m-garcia 2018-05-06 14:38

Good job! Cool game!

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.

2018-05-06 16:04

I had no idea what I was doing.

rob-white 2018-05-06 19:12

I really liked that you added the typing mechanic for what is basically the tutorial text. It makes sure that people actually read the rules before they start playing.

shivur 2018-05-07 04:41

Good game. At the quantity of typing games there was this jam I surely augmented my typing speed of a couple words per minutes.

mambojambo 2018-05-07 19:53

Yea! Really great work! I really like what you did with the theme. The sound track is great :)

secretpocketcat 2018-05-07 23:05

I Really like the Little Red Riding Hood and the track. My favourite thing must be the 'type' tutorial - that's just genius. I'd appreciate if there were more info about the cards in the tutorial, but it's quite intuitive.

Suggestions/nitpick: * uneven difficulty curve - I had no problem getting thru lvls 1 and 2 on my first try, but I can't get thru lvl 3 for the life of me, which is a shame, 'cause I'd like to see what's next, but I have been trying for the past 20 minutes at least * It would be nice if I could select what goes into the initial recruit deck

Even though I was terrible at it, I enjoyed it a lot, so I might give it another bash tomorrow.

archimagus 2018-05-09 02:01

This was pretty neat. I really like deck builders. Though, in this I had a fairly hard time understanding what was going on. I'm not the best typist in the world, but I'm not too bad, I can imagine this being stupidly hard for someone that doesn't type for a living.

Some feedback. - There should be at least a brief tutorial screen for what the cards do. I never did figure out what a few of them did, Pot of greed for example. - There should be some indication of how to place cards, preferably a representation of a number key above or below each card. - It would be nice to be able to move the target location left and right, maybe via arrow keys instead of just tab. Several times I tabbed past my spot and had to go all the way around again.

Still, all in all it was a fun experience and could make for a decent edutainment game for typing classes.

maymakegame 2018-05-11 21:54

Really cute! I like how it makes you type the instructions! I'm a really fast typer, so this was sort of easy, but it got hard sometimes. The names of the cards were funny, and overall it was a pretty cool game!

kwisarts 2018-05-11 23:09

I like typing games but I'm pretty bad at it. That great goblin lord of the swamp though, feels like it got there maybe a bit too soon.

I'll be honest, I'm not exactly sure how i'm supposed to play. Should I just add in cards to the pool from the left? Or should I focus on the cards already in the middle? Either way, typing forces me to focus on a part of the screen and made me, most of the time, unaware of my life and the state of the battle.

I like how it uses creativity to make it harder with super fancy and humourous names!

The reason I didn't push further than my limits was the music; I'm not sure it fits the game and it became more distracting than anything else. I mean, it's probably just me, but it seemed to be "out of place". I kinda had troubles to stay focused on the typing. (probably cause I suck at it though?)

PS: Did... did you opt out the humour? :< why? It was probably what I would have rated the highest

peachtreeoath 2018-05-11 23:20

@Kwisarts Yea, we needed a few more hours of cooking time to establish the game conventions, but ideally: - The player would choose between recruiting more units to their army/hand, vs deploying them - More variance in the card names. The core idea was that since this is a real-time typing game, we replaced the Hearthstone mana concept with character count. So the length of a strong card should be a lot longer than a weak card and naturally take longer to type

Thanks for the inputs!

sean-s-leblanc 2018-05-13 18:29

This is a really cool idea, but it's way too hectic for me to enjoy unfortunately. I found the multi-tasking required to be too difficult and could only manage to look at either the recruiting or the deploy area one at a time.

It's easy to tell a lot of work went into this one; great job folks!

jhandsy 2018-05-15 20:33

I'm sorry I didn't play this sooner! This game is fantastically awesome.

I love that the length of a cards name is its cost, and how much that absolutely works. There definitely wasn't quite enough time to read everything about the board state. And while I understand that like, typing time is a primary factor in determining player skill, it seems like maybe coupling that with reading the board state might be a bit too much. Perhaps separating the game into phases, where one is reading the board and another is typing. But I guess that might ruin some of the momentum.

My favorite mechanic is probably that if card names share letters in order, then you can type part of more than one card at once. I could see decks being build around cards names. Really, really cool.

peachtreeoath 2018-05-17 19:45

@jhandsy Wow we didn't even think about building decks around similar card names for combos and such (or perhaps short curse card names you don't want to type out on accident like "fever"), that's brilliant. Thanks for playing!

jhandsy 2018-05-18 17:57

@PeachTreeOath Ooooh curse cards! Thats a great idea! I think you could do a lot of cool stuff with this game.
