LD38 — A Small World

W.R.L.D. (World Reconnaissance eLite Defense) by TerraCottaFrog 2017-05-03T01:09:33Z

Welp. Thanks for posting this on my comment.

This is my new favorite game from this event. SO MUCH FUN.

I only managed a score of 2500ish and I'm pretty sure difficulty doesn't reset when you die because I had to restart the game between deaths.

Having the planet in the middle hurt you when you shoot it adds so much challenge - in a good way I'd say. It's realistic (as much as you can be with a space shooter)

The simple graphics with the nice particles worked really well together. I have nothing negative to say, I love this.

Solitary Freedom by CMLSC 2017-05-01T06:35:25Z

The second level took me SO LONG TO FIGURE OUT but when I did it was stupidly obvious. Nice use of the barrels to make the player look in all the wrong places!

This is a really cool puzzle game, very satisfying to finally 'get it.'

It's a Small World by GFM 2017-05-01T04:29:07Z

This was a nice little start, I was sad that it ended so early. The simplicity really pulled me in and I really wanted to explore more.

You're going to work more on this someday, I hope?

Hexworld by Myko 2017-05-01T21:30:27Z

This is a really cool concept - there's depth here that I wouldn't expect from a LD game. Going to make my wife play this with me when she gets home!

Single player mode is cool for practice and all but stomping someone else is where the real joy will be!

Cowmets by NickZangus 2017-05-04T12:58:22Z

This is really really good. I have no suggestions to improve it, nothing bad to say and I want to finish this review so I can go play it again.

Charming art, funny characters, great music, better transitions from planet to space than no man's sky, and freakin' cows.

Superb entry, my highest rated yet.

StopWatch by SkullPixel 2017-05-03T03:45:16Z

This is AWESOME!

I've never felt such a sense of urgency in a turn based game. If this is a mechanic you thought of yourself then bravo to you.

This is one I could keep playing for a long time, I was really sad that the game fully restarted when I died because I made it through quite a few levels.

It makes you stop and think - 'can i get all this done in one turn?'

Really. Really. Good.

Contamination by schizoid2k 2017-05-03T02:40:22Z

High score - 202

I had a good time with this. I couldn't tell if having a lot of 'good' cells was an advantage or not. Maybe they spawn more super cells? They definitely get in the way!

I ended up dying because a whole wave of red cells spawned on top of me, my fault though, they usually spawned in the same area.

The sound was good to me, not sure what the other complaints were about.

Good work.

Star Traveller by SecondDimension 2017-05-01T21:50:26Z

The little guy looked so happy when I got him home! The game was exactly how you advertised it - relaxing, colorful, atmospheric, I really liked it.

You 'closed out' your puzzles nicely - seeing the shield come up on the planet under attack, seeing the other planets turn to earth like worlds when you switched the cores, it was all just really satisfying.

ATLANTIS by OccultOne 2017-05-04T04:14:29Z

Okay, where to start:

I played this twice, on two separate occasions. The first time, admittedly, I was pretty lost and unsure of what I was supposed to be doing. I took a break and came back and made quite a bit more progress the second time around.

First and foremost, I loved the music. It not only set the audio apart from a lot of the other entries, but it set the mood of the game perfectly.

I like how you had little objectives around the map that were usually pretty worth walking to for their benefits, it added a nice touch and an extra dimension to the game play.

I would say that you and I both had similar challenges in the way of communicating our game's instructions to the players though in-game insturctions. For a simple game, this isn't usually an issue but your project was pretty ambitious. You guys got a lot of depth (and atmosphere!) into your game, and knowing how to take advantage of all of it from the get-go would have helped.

This is a game that would / will pop into my mind 6 months from now and make me do a google search for it to see where it's at in production. I feel like I played a really good prototype of a game that's going to be really special when it's finished, and I'm looking forward to that!

Bug to the Footstep by eddynardo 2017-05-03T01:16:25Z

Cool game! I got stuck until I started putting the worms into the footsteps first, they seemed to be the toughest to find a fit for. After that I was able to visualize things more easily and I finished the game (assuming level 6 was the last level, it didn't load a new one when I finished it)

Your take on 'a small world' works on so many levels here - a small world as in the place you put the bugs, or the bugs being small - they both fit! Nice job on sticking with the theme and thinking outside of the box.

I'm going to make my wife play now so I can watch her struggle! Thanks for the game!

Starstruck Ducky by HuvaaKoodia 2017-05-01T04:06:54Z

Had some fun with this! I seemed to always rub the duckys the wrong way (sort of pun intended) and I wasn't able to get the meeting with One-Beay but I had some nice chit chats and parties with everyone else!

Daydreaming Island by camilo 2017-05-01T05:40:39Z

A great example of how sound design can absolutely make an experience special. The subtle music paired with the thought provoking notes made this one a bit more special than others. I didn't / wasn't able to finish the whole game unfortunately, but I really enjoyed what I played.

Going to bookmark this one for a rainy day and come back to it.

Thanks for making this!

Finding your loved one by Laaph 2017-05-01T04:42:51Z

Had a good time playing this! I'm so happy you didn't put in a 'game over, you have to restart' feature, because I really wanted to finish it.

The graphics are great for the amount of time you had, and the gameplay is solid. If you have more time I'd love to see this fleshed out into more puzzles, some backtracking, and more of this great art!

I liked the music while it was there as well! Really nice work.

Realmpusher by danbolt 2017-05-01T05:58:50Z

This game captured everything I loved about older NES games. Sound effects, art, the freakin' awesome feedback from pushing the blocks around. I enjoyed this quite a bit and rated it quite accordingly! Really nice job!

One suggestion would be to make the intro skippable (if it was I didn't figure out how).

Other than that, 0 complaints. One of the more solid games on here that I've seen so far.

Snowed In by nuclearfriend 2017-05-01T03:46:28Z

One of the best of the bunch. The voice acting is on point, the story is brief but well played out, and the game displays great humor despite serious looking visuals.

Would not be sad to lose to this game! Rated highly!

Toy Time Turbo by BadRAM 2017-05-01T06:05:21Z

Keyboard makes it feel slippery for sure, but then again, I always spun out of RC cars as a kid so you could argue that it's actually really accurate.

Man does it feel good to successfully powerslide through a corner! I kept crashing though because I was looking at the backgrounds. It was extra cool when I realized I was racing under a bed (or a table? A bed I think!) and such. Gives a great sense of scale.

I thought this was quite fun!

Unnamed Space Project by Devastus 2017-05-01T19:36:36Z

This game's presentation is really well done and had you been able to finish it and balance it a little bit I think it could have bee a strong contender here.

Unfortunately, I was unable to play for long because even when putting down turrets I was overwhelmed by enemies who ignored me and just destroyed my ship.

Graphics were really good, particles were nice too - a touch of screenshake would have gone a long long way with explosions (if you decide to polish it more).

I like what you have, I wish you had more!

It's a Small World, So Let's Crash It into Things by simonhutchinson 2017-05-01T06:17:42Z

I quite liked this - the dark star announcing itself was my favorite part! If I had to give one suggestion (because critique is helpful, right?) I'd ask for smoother transitions between screens, or for a fixed camera right on the planet. It got a little jarring as I got larger.

I did - I can proudly say - wreck that dark star. I was really hoping for a funny voice line from him when he died but hey, can't have it all =)

Until Tomorrow by MSiddeek 2017-05-05T20:53:44Z

I loved this. The story, the setting, the sound, the tease when I was sure that the man by the edge was going to... (no spoilers!).

The ending was pretty awesome, a sort of full-circle type of thing. (I'm being so careful not to post spoilers). If i had to give one suggestion (and im stretching to do it) I'd want the puzzle in the castle to be a bit more tricky. It was pretty self explanatory as it is now, if there were some buttons that you were not supposed to press just to add some confusion, it would have been a stronger puzzle. But that's minor, so feel free to ignore it.

Just the fact that you took the time to add flavor characters to the town to push your story further was great. This is a really cool entry.

Id's Journey by red-fan-games 2017-05-03T02:43:37Z

Hey hey, I'm here to try it but I can't get it to launch on windows 10 =( Hit me up with an @burgee if you manage to change it and I'll check it out! Good luck!

Chill Bill by drtizzle 2017-05-01T21:23:52Z

lol @ being so specific as to pick sprite. Bill has good taste.

The game was quick and fun, which is what this event is all about! I took out some workday stress here! I was however, quite bad at it... my fault, not yours! Nice work!

Food Fight by Scornz 2017-05-01T19:56:44Z

I'm #7 on the leaderboards that's my achievement for the day! The game was fun but I wish the difficulty either started higher or ramped up faster. It kept me from wanting to replay it if I'm being honest. It got fun when it got hectic, and I only died because I didn't know I could get crushed by the food and because I fell off the table then respawned on an enemy, but hey, that's life!

I enjoyed this game though, don't get me wrong! Make a hardmode version and I'll play again!

The Taker by Epicsoft 2017-05-01T21:39:02Z

I didn't have any fps issues like the other guy said, the game ran fine for me. I like how you made it so you have to build castles to expand your area (move the camera), that was a nice touch and it was something you had to maintain as they got destroyed. It added a nice multitasking challenge.

I think the game could use a currency system if you keep working on it so you can't just spam place units, but I understand that would take a lot of time to implement so I'm not rating based on that.

Fun game, either way!

Moon Dozer by sararyCow 2017-05-01T19:49:15Z

I had a hard time getting used to this game but it was satisfying nonetheless to hit a 3x or 4x combo. The controls needed something just a bit more precise, or a bit less friction on the moon vs the ground so it would roll further. I got stuck in the ocean for a good long while =)

Once I got to Europe though, it was game on! I wrecked that place!

Strategic Survival by marbles 2017-05-02T20:24:37Z

This goes from seeming like it's going to be a breeze once you build your fortress to hectic desperation of running around trying to collect resources to build more stuff! It got super fun towards the end.

I will sadly say I was unable to win, I couldn't find a good configuration of buildings that would hold out long enough for me to survive.

I will also say you need to find a better way to represent lumber - it took me 2 tries of playing to find where to harvest it from!

It was fun though, despite the lumber thing, I like it!

Strategic Survival by marbles 2017-05-04T20:55:02Z

Hey, just to clarify, it looks like I have some sort of graphics bug which is why I couldn't find the trees:

LDbug.png

Could be because I own that exact same tileset, but I don't know. This explains why I had issues and others like @Mordokay aren't though.

Strategic Survival by marbles 2017-05-06T06:23:22Z

It's a tileset I own for a project i was working on a while back, and for some reason they appeared in your game. That's why I couldn't find the trees - lol!

Weird bug, mine must have the same file name as your graphics or something.

Pixel Town by automatonvx 2017-05-01T04:54:13Z

I had a ton of fun with this. It was addicting, scenario 1 was a bit easy, scenario 2 not so much. It reminded me of the NES games I grew up playing in a way, really hit me in the nostalgia.

I'll come back and defeat scenario 2 when I have more time to spend on it for sure!

Come on, barbarian! by uchiro 2017-05-03T03:40:20Z

Loved this. Rated accordingly high!

I did die in the training by walking into the guy's sword by accident. Laughed pretty hard at my misfortune and shame-reloaded the game to play it right.

Nice!

Bantam! by dylanilvento 2017-05-04T12:51:56Z

You must have not slept at all making this. There's a lot of gameplay here for just 48 hours of work, not to mention the awesome pixel art.

I loved the ship and the effect of flying it around and it was fun to find new worlds to go to, though a couple of times I got lost and couldn't find any.

The platforming needs some work. The character's jump feels a little jarring and key inputs last a bit too long for left / right movement. If you tap left or right, he moves for about 3x as long as you tapped the key for. Not really a big deal because (from waht I saw) it wasn't a precision platformer, but it still felt off.

The game was tough but really doable once you got into a routine. I played to level 3 and ended up dying because I got a phone call, (lol) but this was a cool entry.

HexCity by MartensCedric 2017-05-03T04:54:18Z

The only 5 star innovation I've given so far. As an avid chess player, this game is one I'm going to play over and over. 33 is my highest score after a couple of attempts, and 70+ blows my mind, somebody did a lot of plannig to get that.

Super Collapse Guy by crazi456 2017-05-04T13:45:43Z

I played this on the first day of LD judging and it looks like I forgot to leave feedback or a rating (fixed that now!)

This game's mechanic is really good. I don't play a ton of games so I don't know how impressive this next statement is but: I've never seen anything like this in a game before.

The levels are fun little puzzles and from a programmer point of view I found myself wondering how you pulled it all off so intuitively.

There were moments in gameplay when I was thinking "this can't be the right answer this will never work" and then it worked. Really a good feeling!

Lava Moon by Funske 2017-05-01T04:18:36Z

Played this a good bit, because I was bad at it and I was not satisfied with being bad at it. I got the hang of it toward the end and put up a pretty good showing!

The music - at first I didn't like it but it grew on me as I played and I think it's pretty catchy. The game itself is pretty hard but in a fair kind of way. I was able to improve the more I played, which is a sign of good design!

Nice work on this and good luck!

Snake On A Plane by spacedoubt 2017-05-01T05:13:46Z

Man this got crazy as I got larger. The speed and flashing and difficulty was almost too much, but not QUITE too much =) I liked it and linked it to a buddy to try (he can't rate it though) and he also enjoyed it.

Nice take on snake - making it 3rd person and all, good luck!

Meteor Jam by PeachTreeOath 2017-05-01T21:15:07Z

Played this quite a bit of the ways through but full disclaimer - I didn't finish it. It was fun and I like how the different planets all feel a bit different. Are they randomly generated? They looked it at least - which is an added bonus.

It took me a bit to realize I could climb walls by spamming jump, and the game got a bit easier after that. I almost liked not knowing I could climb walls, because I had to plan whether or not I was going to jump into a hole for all the ore.

The animations on the little dude were quite good too! One of my higher 'fun' rated games

Little Space by KevTukk 2017-05-01T13:05:45Z

The music in this is awesome! I should probably not build so many bars so soon but man, you have to party in space!

I wasn't able to get very far, I don't think I left myself enough resources to intercept the asteroids, but the game is fun and it seems pretty deep for having made it in 48 hours, so props to you, you must have not slept!

Wee Planet by radmccool 2017-05-01T06:23:14Z

This was fun! I totally saved earth.

I liked how you had the asteroids turn into UFOs toward the end, but the UFOs were a touch hard to see against the space background. Their beams made them easy enough to hit though.

I sort of wished the shooting effect would appear even if I missed my target, but I can appreciate that you probably didn't do that so it would be more clear to the player when they hit their target.

Everything played smoothly and how it should have! Nice work!

Godly Corp. by Zeriver 2017-05-01T13:01:04Z

"God luck" - either a great typo or nice wit =)

The game was fun and it makes you multitask which is cool for an event like this where simplicity is usually king.

It was addicting enough to make me try it more than a few times and while at the end I still sucked at it, I had a lot of fun letting the world die!

Jelly Germ by Ethereal Psyche Games 2017-05-04T12:46:12Z

The idea here is really good, this could turn into a hectic platformer with 4x the gameplay depth of the successful existing ones.

In it's current state, it's playable and fun but it needs a bit of tightening up. The jumps were a little too 'floaty' for me and some of the abilities (mostly sticky) were hard to use right without failing a bunch of times.

Past that, the only real problem I had with the game is I think the UI is a bit too big and invasive. I was worried going in that I wouldn't know what buttons did what, but I had the opposite problem =)

As far as art and sound - everything was spot on. The germs looked cute and the jelly effect of the animation was fitting.

Overall a really solid entry that just needs a bit of tweaking!

Toaster Town by Daffodil Ohio 2017-05-02T20:03:55Z

An interesting little 'experience' to say the least. I spent a while looking for more gameplay. I think I clicked on just about everything.

Your description alone hits the humor category pretty hard for me "Thrillseekers" made me actually laugh.

Neat little thing you have here!

DEFEND YOUR TINY WORLD! v1.1 by Dragojt 2017-05-01T12:03:42Z

Played it a few times and managed a high score of something a round 575.

The game controls nicely and I think you have it set up well as far as run speed and such. The difficulty ramps up nicely as well. Really I don't have any complaints about it at all. It's an enjoyable way to spend a few minutes playing which goes a long way in events like this =)

Nice work!

Invaders of Yekithar by skippuku 2017-05-01T05:07:20Z

Definitely reminds me of old school arcade. It's really difficult! I wasn't able to last long through my 4 or 5 attempts but I did get better as I went. If I had to give one complaint I'd say the controls were a bit too sensitive. I had a ton of trouble climbing the buildings.

Despite that, it's so satisfying to kill the enemies and see them melt into little red pools! Good job!

rovR by morrilet 2017-05-03T03:18:54Z

A really unique puzzle concept!

I had a hard time at first but for some reason I didn't think of bouncing back and forth to manipulate things (being vague to avoid spoilers).

Once I started thinking in those terms it got a bit easier. I found a bit of frustration when I got myself 'stuck' a few times with no safe place to jump to and no way to realign things to where I needed them, but that's my fault - not the game's.

If I had one complaint it would be that the text appears juuuust a bit too slow. It's minor, but I wanted to give you *something* that's hopefully useful!

Super Snowman Spider Showdown Supreme by TheClintHennesy 2017-05-04T12:04:57Z

Really great presentation here, right down to the menu. Your menu has more polish than some entire games I've played.

The gameplay was pretty straightforward, but the effect of the spiders shadows appearing at the beginning was a great touch and it turned your pleasant atmosphere into a nightmare (I hate spiders).

The only issue I had was trying to turn all the way around 180 degrees, I'd lose my mouse and have some trouble re-aligning things.

Other than that minor thing, no complaints!

Recursive nightmare by Toulou 2017-05-05T20:59:22Z

This was cool! I like how one 'playthrough' influenced the next in small ways (or it seemed to at least?) I tried a bunch of stuff and I don't think I found the right ending, but maybe I did? I don't know! I still feel very satisfied with playing this though.

The drawings were really funny, probably my favorite part of this game!

A Small World After All by Rmershon 2017-05-01T11:53:22Z

Cool idea, but my old biology teacher is a freak for wanting to know THAT BAD what I'm doing! The game was fun to play, at first I didn't know I had a list of stuff to get so I just hid in the corner until I saw the countdown.

The controls need a bit of tweaking and it would be really nice if the camera was rotatable, but hey, what can you do in one weekend, right?

Good entry, nice take on 'small world' theme!

Claimed by Hector Piñeiro II 2017-05-03T02:54:09Z

Neat little game! I was a bit disappointed when I pushed my 'extra' tile all the way south to the guy who wanted to know how to claim void tiles and he didn't react - that was a long push!

You did a nice job of teaching the game as it went along though, I started out really lost and looked for a help page, not finding one I just started playing and the game taught me instead.

The best tutorials are the ones you don't know you're in!

Holy Shit! A Spider !!! by Aurelien 2017-05-01T05:46:08Z

This game gets super hectic as it goes! Personally, hating spiders like I do, I found myself rooting for the human, but I did my best to protect the spider.

It's funny how tunnel vision-ed it made me get though trying to avoid everything. I think this is one of the most intense-kind-of-fun games I've played so far tonight out of the 12 or 15 I've checked out so far!

"It's a small world!" by szczebel1995 2017-05-03T03:07:00Z

I got hit by every car in the world!

I finally found my coffee date but it took a ton of tries! The streets were so crowded I felt like I had to walk in the road, but that never worked out well lol.

The idea is really good and I think with a bit more tweaking this game could catch on. Your take on 'small world' theme is one of the best I've seen so far!

Suds of War by James Dunlap 2017-05-03T13:41:41Z

Just spent a bit of time with this and I really like the visual style. Suds as fog of war was a great idea and having floating rubber ducks as obstacles was neat too.

I'm pretty impressed that you were able to code (even basic) AI along with the rest of the game in only 72 hours, so that's definitely an achievement.

The music was also perfect for the setting as well, just a nice relaxing little tune.

If I had to give a few things I didn't like so much I'd say your movement sound was a bit of an issue. It sounded like it played constantly as you moved when maybe it should have only played once per square. The firing animation was a bit off but that was easy enough to work around.

A solid LD entry nonetheless! Nice work to you and your son!

A Giant Hitch by GenericToast 2017-05-01T12:56:08Z

This is a monday morning simulator.

Really fun, humorous and well designed. Gameplay is frustrating until you get a feel for it at which point it just becomes entertaining.

Really nice work and nice use of the small world concept! I definitely enjoyed my time as a destructive friendly cube with his own personal entrance at his job!

Mr. Fishy's Small World by SheepTree 2017-05-01T04:12:00Z

Really enjoyed the music and artwork on this game. I killed my fish a bunch of times (is it a random chance per feeding? One time I fed once per day and he died on day 2, another time I fed twice a day and made it like 6 days).

The little messages are fun to see and I looked forward to seeing what Mr Fishy was thinking. Nice job!

Tiny Planet, Big Universe by Daveybb 2017-05-01T04:34:34Z

Plays exactly how you think it should. The 2d shooter genre doesn't offer much room for innovation, but if this is your first attempt at making a game in unity, you have a good start! My first unity game featured a guy who fell through the world and crashed the game when you tried to move him. You're doing pretty well, I'd say! Good luck!

A World in a Shoebox... by Articulated9 2017-05-01T20:06:19Z

I adventured!

It was charming, I didn't die but man I almost did a few times. I almost wrote a whole thing saying about how I couldn't move and it was bugged but then I realized my gamepad was plugged in so I played it on that (it worked fine by the way, no crashes or anything). I cleared the world, talked to Reg and the other guy (bert? burt? I forgot sorry!) and checked out the haunted house too!

Nice work on all of it, you captured the link to the past feel for sure.

Space^3 by boats 2017-05-01T03:57:35Z

Tough game, I agree with the others that the transition between dying and playing again is a bit long, but it was interesting enough to make me play a few times. I wasn't very good at it and tried exploiting the level shifts to avoid enemies with some success! Still though, they got me in the end. Nice work!

Angry Worlds by MeronSoda 2017-05-03T00:27:40Z

I gotta say - I was intimidated when I saw your one-unit-wide platforms, but once I started jumping for them I realized the controls were good... like - SUPER GOOD. Seriously, I don't know what you did but you have control input that's like 99x more accurate than most commercial games.

As for the game itself, it's a nice little platformer. I wouldn't say it's breaking any records for innovation, but it plays super well for what it is and it would definitely stand out in the genre if you continue to work on it

Really nice job!

Murder Mitosis by _for_science 2017-05-01T12:33:31Z

Man it was fun overwhelming the other guys with my little red armies! I liked this enough to give it a good bunch of attempts.

I found myself wishing that my little army would convert other blobs over time if they outnumbered them, because that yellow jerk just buried himself in his army and I couldn't get to him - lol

Really cool concept though, and I wish I had someone to play it with (looks like it's multiplayer?). Impressive for 3 days of work!

Good audio choice too, even if it's not your original work.

Legends Of Block by sagarpatel25700 2017-05-01T12:26:30Z

A good example of gameplay carrying art! The game was really fun to play and satisfying when you killed enemies due to the little explosions and sound effects.

I had trouble getting the dashing down at first, I'd get mixed up on which square I was for a second. ONce I got it down though I started to favor it as my attacking method - it was just more fun!

The Jetpack was fun, the bullet-hell aspect was fun - the whole game was just fun. Nice job!

Tiny Planet by Tiny Planet Studios 2017-05-01T12:39:07Z

I like the music the most out of this entry I think, it was so fitting and mysterious.

The game did bug on me when I got to the fuel cell - I was unable to interact with it. I believe that was pretty much the end though (I guess I missed the outro, which stinks - because the intro was awesome).

Neat little puzzle game though, nice job!

Invasion by mmKALLL 2017-05-03T00:17:54Z

An addicting little game. I had fun picking energy recharge rate every time and making myself a little laser machine gun.

I guess this may have been a mistake because my planet kept dying but I had fun letting the world end!

I noticed your collision issues a little bit but they weren't that bad, I never felt cheated because my direct hits never seemed to be affected.

nice game!

Trindle Tabletop Experiment by vkmicro 2017-05-01T05:22:03Z

I liked the riddles - level 3 got me for a second! It was an entertaining little 10 minute game, really pretty good for a first entry!

Warpy's World by Nilanjan 2017-05-03T03:26:41Z

I'm having adobe air issues also - I can say though that the art was instant smiles for me.

I was interested enough where I went and searched youtube for some gameplay and found a video that I'm assuming you made - so I'm comfortable enough to rate for the few things I can see (art, mood, theme, etc)

Really wish I could play it! I would caution against using installers for game jams, they turn a lot of people away pretty instantly if it's not just a runnable .exe of the game or a webGL thing. An unfortunate side effect of computer security =(

Good luck in the event!

Big Ship on a Small World by Samcam 2017-05-01T03:52:38Z

Nice little interactive game. I didn't have any sound - not sure if that's intended or not, but rated accordingly. Got a chuckle or two out of the jokes, earth is a little jerk also. Accurate, probably! Nice work!

MicroCHIP by Tony Godfrey 2017-05-01T21:55:42Z

Is this what my antivirus goes through every day? Good gosh!

I loved the satisfaction of standing in front of where the firewall goes and just watching the viruses suicide rush into me. Of course, that only worked in level 1. I couldn't keep up in 2 enough to do that.

I eventually died on level 3, but I ALMOST HAD IT! It was really fun! Nice take on 'small world' also, I like outside of the box stuff!

My Precious Orbit by SwiftIllusion 2017-05-01T21:27:34Z

I have to be super honest, I wasn't able to play your game for very long because it was instant motion sickness for me. The graphics look really good though and the player model is really cool. I did manage to destroy a star before I stopped out of stubbornness, and that was satisfying!

If you could slow down the camera or at least add a dead spot so it isn't *always* moving I think it would be a lot more tolerable for me.

Spermicorn by Fanu 2017-05-01T12:46:10Z

Alllllmost didn't play it because of the subject matter but I'm glad I did! I got such a laugh out of this game!

The music was spot on for the gameplay, but the second part (button mashing) went on just a bit longer than I preferred. No other complaints though, the game was short and strange, perfect for a Ludum Dare.

Until the End by FernandoAdolfo 2017-05-01T11:58:30Z

Definitely rating you high on theme for this one, it's such a good take on 'a small world'. I liked exploring the prison and you did a good job of making it seems 'stressful' in it's own little way. I think this game deserves more attention than it's gotten before.

Nice job also on the controls and camera. Everything played nicely.

Polyville by Daniel Conway 2017-05-03T03:02:27Z

Big vote for mood from me! I like polygonal games and your little world was neat to explore. I really wished it had some music - I pictured the style of music from the old game 'daggerfall' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5u-3Oaj1Ao&index=23&list=PLDWrj6ynqDMHlvwaYcx90U4B8xVXTci9p reference!)

I finished the game and was satisfied to see the windmill push the fog away and the sunlight break though, it was a complete experience, but a bit of a short one.

I'd definitely agree with the other users and say try to add a variety of quests instead of fetch quests, this is a great prototype of a really stylized game, so good work!

Soleil by JoyFired 2017-05-04T04:57:04Z

I kept getting the feeling that my jumps were higher and longer the further away from the planets I got. Not sure if it was my imagination or what, but I liked it.

I had a hard time timing the jumps though, I kept jumping a split second too late and falling back down, which got a bit frustrating. In the end I made it quite a ways though. Persistence!

Atmospehere and sound were both good, mood was on point, and small world theme was nailed. The gameplay could use a bit of tightening up, but all in all a good entry!

Floppy McFloppyface by Mars 2017-05-05T21:05:56Z

I got a good laugh out of 'you flap your arms at the tree'!

I played it until I got stuck and couldn't find the plate anywhere! Had I found the plate I would have happily kept playing, so feel free to give me a hint =)

The music was great, the graphics were spot on for this game, and the flapping arms was a really nice little touch that turned a game that would have been average at best into something weirdly special.

Thanks for making this!

Rise of the Termites by Togis 2017-05-01T12:19:59Z

You have a lot of depth here, so congratulations on that! Accomplishing this much in 3 days is impressive as far as having all of the gameplay options and no bugs (lol) that I could find.

It was easy to pick up and understand - I didn't know what the enemies were at first but I figured it out pretty quick.

Music and graphics were both good, but I think the music was the stronger of the two. You did a nice job on this game for sure.

If I had one complaint, I wished I could have dug more than one room at a time when I had more workers. I understand why you didn't allow it (balance) but at first it was a lot of clicking and waiting.

Batter Bros. by fanatrick 2017-05-04T20:49:38Z

The sound the bat makes when you hit the ball is so satisfying!

The game was fun, nice job getting AI in there as well, that's impressive.

Graphics were solid too. I wasn't a huge fan of the music but it's more of a style thing and I feel like I have to point out SOMETHING or else what's the sense of feedback!

I didn't try any of the button spam stuff, I played for real and had a good time doing it!

Seagazer by Turncoda 2017-05-01T11:47:36Z

Played it for a bit, but wasn't able to figure out 'how' to play it on my own. I triggered some stuff - constellations popping up, the sky changing color, some music, etc. on my own though!

Without knowing how to play I can still say it was enjoyable. I always felt like I was about to walk up to an ocean (sound, atmosphere were good) and it was cool how you implemented the sky dome over the world. It 'felt' like a real, tiny world.

Nice work man!

Too Many Weird Aliens by BlueCakeWithCows 2017-05-01T06:11:35Z

I got lost in space because 'powersliding' through the abyss shooting at aliens was really fun. I got back to earth and held out for 77 days - which I assume is a terrible score - but I had a blast letting mankind fall to the aliens.

The sound did have a bit of 'cliking' to it like it was trying to play the same sound effect over and over in rapid succession or something - it's a minor gripe but I like to give everyone *something* to look at =)

Fun game though, nice smooth difficulty transition and uh... POWERSLIDING!

Sling Ship 🌏 by Quoclon 2017-05-01T05:29:17Z

Really neat game. I had a hard time with level 1 for a while, when I finally beat it I accidentally hit 'retry' out of habit. Beat it again and got super stuck on level 2 and finally gave up on level 3. I'm going to revisit this, and I'm going to beat it - just not tonight =) Nice work!

Classical Conditioning Cooperation - [CCC] by AwesomeAlliterationAlliance 2017-05-03T00:09:20Z

This game is freakin' awesome! What starts out as an entertaining relaxing puzzle game quickly turns into a lesson in micromanagement and multitasking!

I loved the mouse animations, the music, the level design, even the GO and level end animiations were polished.

Really really really good for only 72 hours, hopefully you'll develop this further! It would translate perfectly to mobile devices.

Whale Fall by theslate 2017-05-01T19:31:40Z

Cool challenging little game, the platforming worked well and pushing whales out of the way to climb higher was weirdly satisfying.

Sound effects did their job as well, jumping and the 'explosions' toward the end all fit nicely with the art and gameplay.

I didn't defeat the boat, I got to it twice and wasn't sure what to do and died, so that's disappointing on my part, but good game!

Limited Space by Vidinu 2017-05-01T19:44:53Z

This was really fun! At first I couldn't figure out why you put in the timer but it made sense the more I played. I got totally screwed by landing on 2 planets with no food or water - which is fine btw - it added a sense of fear to the game.

Graphics were good, music was good, gameplay was good, small world concept was hit - everything was well done!

1380 high score, probably not good but hey!

Skylets by Dink_Dunk 2017-05-02T21:09:59Z

I spent more time on this than most of the other games I played. At first I was like 'hey this doesn't really get any harder' and then I got to the 4th or 5th planet and sh*t got real.

I really like the graphics style and the simplicity of the gameplay. I kind of wish that planets would become unstable more quickly meaning you get the warning and have less time to get to the pad. Maybe they do later on, I didn't finish the entire game admittedly.

I really like it though!

Tiny Terraformer by Wheffle 2017-05-02T21:55:54Z

A really charming little game! I afk'd for a minute and bugs ate half my plants but I recovered. Oops!

The music really set the tone and it reminded me of playing sim-earth back when I was a kid. Your attention to detail was really good (clouds forming, plants growing) and while I'm not being called away and there's no pause function, I'll be revisiting it later!

I liked it a ton though so far. One of my highest rated.

Incidental Dimension by wildmusketeer 2017-05-01T05:53:56Z

Sort of a portal-esque vibe going on with the puzzles here, not sure why but it kept reminding me of that. (It's a good thing!)

I played for quite a bit - until I ran into a fireball (I should have tested if they hurt me earlier) and had to restart. If I had one recommendation, I'd say make getting hit not a full restart, but a respawn somewhere nearby.

I definitely liked working out the puzzles - I solved one and I'm not even sure how I did it. I was running around looking for the solution and the door just opened for me. Must be a fireball pushed a block into the right place for me! Thanks fireball!

FUEL by KCreanor 2017-05-01T21:20:22Z

Fun game! It has a nice smooth difficulty curve that didn't leave me feeling unequipped for the challenge.

I defnitely found myself going back trying to beat my times, which I don't usually do unless the game seems super fair and balanced and I feel like it's my own skill holding me back.

I like this!

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2017-05-01T19:58:17Z

@camilo @kcreanor @laaph to be fair, we did the 72 hour event, but thank you for the compliments!

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2017-05-01T21:32:56Z

@Epicsoft we actually did the 72 hour jam, but really once we got the physics in place and feeling good, it was just a matter of plugging in art, designing (and ugh testing) levels for complete-ability and then polishing it up! Thanks for the review!

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2017-05-01T21:51:03Z

@tony-godfrey just hold spacebar to speed it up! Thanks for the review =)

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2017-05-02T18:13:37Z

@laaph that's a pretty awesome compliment! Neither of us had ever done LD before so we had no idea what level of polish was expected. So we just decided to forego sleep and do everything we could!

There are things I'm unhappy with in it (lack of more detailed and intuitive in game instructions) but we're very proud of our creation!

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2017-05-03T03:10:49Z

@morrilet

We'd love to be able to add those features! After the event we're going to continue developing this idea and adding a button to view the full level is top of the list (I have it coded into my working version, but I won't be uploading it for the sake of the competition)

Thank you for the honest feedback and thank you for playing!

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2017-05-03T06:12:17Z

@james-dunlap It's the one thing I'd modify too in hindsight!

Thank you for the feedback! Your game is on my to-play list but it may not be tonight =)

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2017-05-04T05:43:39Z

@nickZangus There is! The spacebar does just that!

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2018-08-07T01:08:30Z

@occultone Nope, the audio was original, that's really weird.

A bit of research lead me to this: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/youtube/aVZ_dp7Ikt4

and this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYXbK4OKxq0

Thanks for the heads up, looks like you're the victim of their little scam.

That Tiny Pea by Thendash 2017-05-05T21:18:04Z

This is just like Kerbal Space Program - if you haven't played that you should!

I quite enjoyed KSP and got quite good at it, so this game came pretty easy to me. I love space and astronauts so you hit a sweet spot for me as well.

I couldn't rate super high on innovation BECAUSE of the similarity to KSP, but everything else I was pretty impressed with and I had a good time landing a few times. (Nice touch starting at a different orientation each time - or at least it seemed like it did).

Bill's Micro Adventure by NeuroHacker 2017-05-01T05:01:38Z

So awesome it lowers your frame rate! You know there's a lot going on when THAT happens! It was for sure fun, the triple shot made me feel unstoppable, except I wasn't unstoppable and then I got destroyed. Well played ants, well played.

Particulate by Daniel Alhadeff 2017-05-01T04:01:23Z

Enjoyed it, found genuine hatred for the other planets, raged a little, and played some more. High score 93. I'm bad! Good work though, might revisit this just for fun.

The Evolution Game by EvoGenGames 2017-05-02T20:15:57Z

These are the projects that fascinate me the most.

It's not super easy to 'see' the learnings outside of the graphs at the bottom, but there's only so much you can do graphically. I can see the creatures interacting with the environment thorugh movement however - which is very cool.

What's the longest you've let it run for? What was the result? If you say 'immortality' you're getting an automatic higher rating!

FREEDUMB! by Brothers Arcade 2017-05-03T19:34:23Z

Highest humor rating I've given. I don't know why 'freedumb' took me so long to recognize for what it was, but it's pretty witty.

I totally bombed paris, because AMERICUH.

I must have done the right thing because I got an instant you-win screen and jammed out a bit.

Satire is a dangerous game to play in a game jam but you pulled it off well, just expect a divided audience =)

Colonial Kart World by adamalexander 2017-05-01T12:08:47Z

I had a lot of fun playing this - it's so satisfying to sink the other ships. The shots have a real feeling of power behind them and seeing them skip off of the water or ricochet off of the island is awesome!

I had a funny bug where the spanish ships were flying for a bit, which was cool, I shot at them anyhow =)

If this was made into a 2 player game - split screen or online - it would be really fun!

Cosmic Identity Crisis by dirtycasuals 2017-05-01T04:23:43Z

I'm going to need you to go ahead and explain to the other games why I'm not judging them because I'm still playing yours.

What an addictive little gem you've made!

LD39 — Running out of Power

While True Do by Phobos001 2017-08-02T04:04:24Z

I downloaded your game, and I planned fully on give you a more substantial comment than the one above me.

But that guy nailed it. His comment is perfect.

I hope you win Ludum Dare.

Do yourself a favor (if you want) and quote me on your game description somewhere. PEOPLE NEED TO PLAY THIS GAME, AND THEY NEED TO REALIZE THAT IT'S NOT WHAT IT SEEMS TO BE. POWER THROUGH.

Solar Snoop's Star Trek by tweedle 2017-08-02T03:43:08Z

This was fun, though I wish the penalty for shooting wasn't so high. You have a fun mechanic and you should be careful about punishing players for using it.

My highest score run (470) was me just not shooting anything.

That aside, this game was fun enough to make me play it multiple times. The music was great and the graphics were really clean.

Not trying to come off negative because I really liked this, I just don't want to give fluff feedback without some real opinions!

Game of Cows by greysphere 2017-08-01T04:19:23Z

This game took a minute to figure out, but then it turned into a great little puzzle game. I missed that you had to drag cards into the world to build them and got really stuck on trying to figure out how to use them for a bit.

I finished with 36 coins I think? I didn't do well at all but I defintely wasted my first few days plodding around.

It's a really good thing you included that help screen! The polish is great here, the graphics are good an while the SFX are basic, they do their job well too.

Impressive jam entry for sure!

Eomro by Bookworm31 2017-08-01T03:37:57Z

Hey man, your game gives me an error on the map screen. Going to bookmark and come back in a few days, hopefully you can sort it out! I'll edit this comment accordingly when I can give it a real playthrough.

The error: "Uncaught exception thrown in Thread[LWJGL Renderer Thread,6,main] OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space"

Range anxiety by StubbyRogue46 2017-08-01T19:38:32Z

This was fun but pretty hard at the same time. I never made it past day 1 after 3-4 attempts.

The monsters stick right to you and do pretty consistent damage, maybe shooting them should knock them back a bit (if you develop this further and i think you should).

The music was good, atmosphere was one of the better ones I've seen so far, and you hit the theme too. It's an ambitious game for a jam, so good work!

Nightmare Mine by Travis Spuller 2017-08-02T04:24:19Z

Couldn't win but enjoyed the effect of dying.

I think some landmarks would have been a good idea, not many - and maybe just subtle things. Audio cues would have been especially powerful.

The game was straight forward and accomplished the goal though. It creeped me out pretty hard the first time through and I was bracing for a big scare at the end.

System.reLight by Reggnos 2017-08-01T03:47:38Z

Great atmosphere here. I agree with the reviewer who said some on hit effects would go a long way. Other than that, no complaints. I liked exploring, and your little touches were great (outdoor sounds, projectors flashing, the freakin pause menu - I SPENT SO LONG JUST PAUSING THE GAME!)

Solid entry for a weekend only - kudos to your artist too, things look excellent.

Catalango by Hikari Kyuubi 2017-08-01T04:07:01Z

At first I was like 'this is too hard I can't make these jumps' but after powering through I had a great time. The cats angry sounds were awesome!

Something with the controls feels just a bit off. Not to the point of unplayable, but I think the jumping is just a bit too sensitive or too jarring. It didn't affect my game play in any serious way, I just like to give a suggestion on a review.

Great work on the game! I'm going to revisit it a bit later on and see if I can get further.

BULB-07's Darkest Hours by sausage_squad_games 2017-08-01T03:56:46Z

I definitely gave this more retries than any other game I've played so far. I'm kinda bad - I got to around 500 points on my best attempt, but if I was more patient i think I could have done better.

The 'feel' is right on. I didn't feel like I needed to learn, the game just played how you expected it to and that goes a long ways. I didn't feel ripped off or like I was cheated by a cheap game.

Good work, it's fun!

Spaceship Rescue by cybersoftuk 2017-08-02T03:48:55Z

66k score!

I found myself wishing for it to speed up a bit as I went along, but it was relaxing in a weird way to just sit back, jam to the awesome music and tap left and right to get lined up.

The first time I played I was confused and was trying to aim for gaps, and the second time through I didn't notice the floor-grid was a tool for lining up with the walls.

Once I got those two things down it was off to the races and it was really fun!

Industria by rb2750 2017-08-01T03:33:19Z

It took me a few tries to start to get the idea. Once I got it I was clicking furiously trying to keep up. I feel like your power bar depletes a littttttle bit too fast. For you - the dev - the game is probably easy. For us who've never seen it before, it's hard to keep up.

I wasn't able to last more than maybe 30 seconds on any given playthrough (tried over a dozen though!) since my first ones were 3 second flops.

Unity is on my to-learn list, so congrats on taking the plunge and using it on a gamejam!

Qwik by Sno0w 2017-08-01T05:34:58Z

This was fun and weirdly reminded me of the old racing games I grew up playing.

Something was super satisfying about the jump sound effect.

I thought it was a bit tough, and it seemed like some of the powerups were placed just to make you fall off the edge (as in unrecoverable locations where if you drive there you can't turn fast enough anymore to get back on track.)

Simplistic graphics with some nice lighting effects got the job done well.

One suggestion is to make restarting quicker - counting down from 5 at the beginning was unnecessary I think. A quick 3 2 1 or even just a READY -> GO would have worked and been less frustrating.

Take the frustration as a compliment though - I wanted to play again and dind't want to wait.

HELIRESCUE MENS by voxel 2017-12-08T03:25:17Z

Really great game for just two hours. Hell, good game for 2 days even!

The helicopter crash is so oddly satisfying I definitely took an extra couple of minutes to just smash into stuff once I rescued (smooshed) everyone.

Mr. Great President by spyispie120 2017-12-07T02:37:39Z

2017 simulator. Accurate.

Good work!

Clones by TechnoNugget 2017-12-05T06:48:10Z

The SFX and punchiness of the gunshots kept me playing. They felt so good. If you made those, enable audio for voting with the disclaimer that the music isn't yours!

I got 42 as a score for my high, the game got super hectic later on in a good way.

The only issues I had was falling through some gaps that I couldn't really jump back up through. Maybe I wasn't being precise enough but it felt kind of unforgiving.

Fun game despite that! I gave it a good few attempts and kept wanting to improve.

Cursed Gold by ryusui 2017-12-05T06:55:58Z

This had a nice nintendo vibe to it. I died pretty horribly on my first few attemnpts, but then adopted a strategy of avoidance instead of fighting monsters and made it way further.

I wish there was a reason to kill the monsters, XP, coins, something. Running around them was way simpler for most of the game.

The style was good and consistent, and the gameplay was pretty intuitive, so all in all that's a successful entry and above many of the others!

Thanks for making it!

Piggle Puzzle by fractalsunrise 2017-12-05T07:04:50Z

Nice! WebGL worked for me after you uploaded it since the .jar wouldn't run correctly.

I played a fair bit and once I got an understanding of the mechanics I had quite a bit of fun trying to avoid the piggy piles and to wrangle those things into the goal.

The music was nice, and the presentation was great as well.

My only gripes are that I kept accidentally placing the food before the level loaded by impatiently clicking my mouse. My fault, yeah, but could be prevented by not letting food be placed before the splash screen is gone.

Second, it took me a bit to learn that I had to press SPACE to make the game go. Also probably my fault for missing some instructions.

Either way, my gripes are more personal problems, and your game was great but I like to give any constructive feedback that I can!

Hi-5 for a great entry!

Shear Panic by marjie 2017-12-06T01:13:55Z

Took me 30 seconds to learn how to play, then I enjoyed the crap out of it.

You have a wild imagination - sheep on a sky island being attacked by dragons...

I loved trying to use the hook to keep the sheep in place but accidentally flinging them into the abyss. I couldn't figure out what to use the dog head for, I thought it might make the sheep go in the other direction but I couldn't really tell if it was working.

Swatting dragons also was really satisfying - I wish it had a nice 'slap' sound effect though!

Network Invader by drazil100 2017-12-05T05:46:01Z

Heeey first comment!

I liked this - It brought back Starfox vibes which was one of my favorite games growing up. The simplistic art, the polygonal projectiles, the perspective and the game feel all reminded me of it. It played well, felt good. I didn't have a gamepad as recommended but I had no issues on keyboard.

I like to give suggestions in the hopes of helping, so I can say I wish the explosions had a lot more bass to the sound to make them more satisfying.

Other than that, no complaints!

DO NOT FEED by Zorg 2017-12-05T14:26:33Z

Aaaaand now I know how my dog feels on any given day!

I really liked the art even though it was simple, definitely conveyed its point perfectly!

A little repetitive, but to be expected since you didn't get a chance to finish it. What you have here is solid for sure, and I played way longer than I meant to, which is the sign of a good entry!\

It's hard to give suggestions since I don't know what you had planned, but being able to jump to cover more ground would have been soooo useful!

Great work man, I like this!

Super Chrono Runner by Vovin 2017-12-05T14:57:40Z

Cool mechanic!

I got to level 7 and then it got a bit too punishing for me with the clock placement - not to say that's a bad thing, but I just wasn't good enough to get further.

SFX were solid, music was catchy, and the game was fun, if not a bit unfair at times. Some of the lazers seemed to be on randomized timers so I couldn't predict when to go, and they'd turn on right after they turned off. Or maybe I'm just bad.

Overall though, a solid entry with some real work put into it as far as design, level layout and balancing goes!

Sanguinite by Wheffle 2017-12-08T03:22:16Z

I was so excited when I saw that you made tiny terraformer for LD38, that was one of my favorites. You stuck with the space theme and didnt disappoint here either!

The game was fun, it got challenging but always felt fair and I felt like it was my fault for not being careful enough when I died. Admittedly, I did get stuck on level 3 for a long long time.

Powerups were rewarding enough to go after, and combat was smooth and felt 'right'.

Another great entry by you!

@voxel holy smokes sir, that's a score!

Critter Clutter by Burgee 2017-12-14T13:44:33Z

@saramartins that's super weird!

I'll try to see if I can track it down tonight, it must be a rare error because nobody else has been lucky enough to find it like you did.

Thanks for trying, I'll come check out your entry tonight anyhow!

Surviving Christmas by JohnnyO 2017-12-05T14:20:14Z

Definitely nailed the theme here!

Level 1: Man this game's easy what is this?

Level 2: This seems like level 1 - OH MY GOD WHATS HAPPENING!

It ramps up QUICK! The physics were neat and the difficulty level was high but I reached that freakin button finally.

It took me a long time to realize that shadows appeared where the presents were going to drop and that made things quite a bit easier once I started paying attention. I liked this game!

Beer Me by Ramou 2017-12-05T02:53:23Z

I definitely laughed at myself as I threw soemthing like my 20th beer way over the targets head and watched it smash into the wall behind him.

It's a fun little game, it takes the right touch to get it right, and it's simple enough to play.

The only suggestion I have is that it's a bit hard to judge how hard to throw the beer when it's done. I was just guessing at the power meter most of the time until I got a feel for it.

Fun game though!

Happy Loot by Aycan 2017-12-05T06:41:35Z

This was fun! For a second I thought I was in an actual online lobby, lol.

I got 32 coins before I was too slow to do much of anything and died, but this was one of the more fun games I've played so far!

I like to give suggestions too on every review since we're here to learn, but all I really have is that some of the corners were tough to navigate around... not really much of a complaint!

Good job!

Goblins 2 Go by SFBTom 2017-12-06T22:08:59Z

My highest rated game so far. The cartoon graphics are perfect, making a monstrosity by accident is hilarious, and getting it right is so rewarding.

Not much to say, no suggestions, just great!

Hidden Shadows by Artur Hawkwing 2017-12-14T22:16:50Z

3D during a game jam is always ambitious, especially for a compo entry!

The controls were a bit tough, and I will be fully honest in saying I did not finish the game but I feel like I have a good feel for what's there.

Overall it was enjoyable once I got the feel for things, and you can tell that there was some serious work put into it!

Shooting Shadows by Sanvar 2017-12-05T15:32:46Z

Diet on level 3 a couple of times =(

It took me a bit to realize that the ghost souls were good and i was getting frustrated that I couldn't dodge them ,lol.

The game feel here is super good. I'd venture a guess that 1.) You watched and took advice from Vlambeer's 'The Art of Screenshake' video, or 2.) You have a natural talent for making a game feel good.

Either way, this one felt super polished, fair, and was fun to play. I wanted to beat level 3 since you said it was hard but alas I am out of time!

Hotel Nero by Nightfall 2017-12-05T02:46:52Z

This is so good for a jam weekend. The art is perfect, the music is *really* good though it looks like you didn't make it since I can't rate it - but still a good selection nonetheless.

It reminded me of an old SNES firefighter game I loved.

Hell, even the main menu is polished and nice, I really liked this and rated it accordingly!

Virus Detected by NotSpaghettiGames 2017-12-08T03:30:28Z

With a bit of polish and some juicing this game could be a popular one. The core gameplay is super solid, the strategy and risk vs reward factors are there, it's super well done.

Right now, shooting feels a little slow and weak, a punchier sound effect and some particles would go a super long way (I know it's not easy to do in a jam, I'm talking for future work since it looks like you plan on expanding based on your other comments).

Taking over dead cells and making an army is super satisfying, nice idea and good execution!

Dandelion Rush by Raphael Huot 2017-12-06T01:06:43Z

This game was incredibly fun!

There's not many LD games I go back to a dozen times to try again and again but your high difficulty and the quick restart made it so easy to just keep playing.

Really really nice job, my highest 'fun' rated game so far!

Music was good, SFX were non existent but really didn't feel missed, everything just worked.

Starbage Man by BryceLTaylor 2017-12-06T00:50:53Z

I thought this game was really funny. I'm not sure if all the voice acting was the tutorial section (I didn't skip the tutorial) but it was by far the best part of the experience for me.

I'd almost suggest making it unskippable if you haven't.

The game play itself was pretty standard space fare, it was a little weird running back and forth to the map and the cockpit to fly, I almost found it easier to just fly around until I found stuff by accident since the game area looped on itself.

All in all, the polish here is really really good.

Npigs by 6smith 2017-12-08T03:36:31Z

Music was so good, did you guys make it?

I had fun playing, and you hit the theme because as I got more pigs having one fall a long way was a real "OH NOOOOO" moment since i'd have to climb him all the way back up.

I got really high and was surprised at how large the level was that you guys built. I kept expecting to find the end but it just kept going.

Toward the end I just took one pig at a time up to see if i could find it and I climbed until I unavoidably fell back down.

Are you the guy who suggested '3 colors' for a theme by any chance? lol

Caffeinated Alien by Justin Toyo 2017-12-05T02:19:46Z

Hey dude, with game maker you should compile as a stand alone executable - a lot of people shy away from installers!

Handle Face by dmay93 2017-12-05T01:57:23Z

I liked this a lot! Especially after finishing the jam it was nice to sit and play something that was self explanatory, low pressure, and just the right amount of challenging.

The way you guys fit your game with the theme with your little story and the scenario made me laugh, being stuck HAVING to carry a bucket in the pouring rain and all is just funny to me.

I reloaded the game a couple of times and was surprised to see a new maze every time. I've tried programming randomly generated mazes before and just... no thanks!

Nice job!

Last Ticket by Luciax 2017-12-06T14:57:52Z

This game and style usually aren't my thing but this one sucked me in and I played through all of it (and there's a surprising amount of game here).

I got ending C after everything, but I think I collected most of the crystals throughout the game and did everything I could.

The music was nice, the platforming worked well, but some sound effects would have gone a super long way to adding to the already good game feel.

I'm glad you don't reset progress when I die, I was ready to be frustrated when I got killed but all I had to do was restart the area, so I was happy about that.

Nice work!

Awfultown by Matthew Di Mare Miller 2017-12-05T02:24:39Z

Man that went south quick!

Played a few times to get the hang of it!

At first I thought the red angry faces were fire, not sure what you could change it to but I had a tough time with it for a bit.

It's a nice quick play sessions though, I liked that about it. I had time to play two or three games vs one long one that didn't go well, so good job on keeping the gameplay scope just about perfect!

PLETHORA by Emilio Barrera 2017-12-05T07:17:16Z

72 points!

It took me a minute to realize i had a double jump, but after that, it was game on!

The pressure of not falling into the mess you made makes this game really fun and really nails the theme. Not for the greedy!

Vermin by Hertz14 2017-12-06T00:56:22Z

I laughed out loud at this game, whether it was the people running away or the rats plowing into the sides of buildings and dying, it was all really well presented.

Took me a couple of games to figure out how to control the herd? pack? group? Whatever rats are called in a group.

Fun!

LD42 — Running out of space

Polygon Bash by josehzz 2018-08-14T03:29:16Z

Take my high rating and leave me alone so I can play this game.

I don't dedicate time to get good at many LD games, but this one's got its hooks in me.

6250-ish for a high score - come at me LD community, I've got you all beat.

A Sinking Feeling by Beard or Die 2018-08-14T03:18:58Z

More of an experience than a game (that's not a bad thing please don't take it as a bad thing!) but I was so sad to realize that my strategy to survive didn't work. I thought a the pallet would provide me a longer survival time when it floated, so I pushed (or tried to push) a bunch of water bottles onto it and stood on it triumphantly until it abruptly didn't work.

Beautiful game and great mood. Even though you used premade assets, you used them quite well and that contributes to all of the other ratings!

Also a great take on the theme - it's like a bad dream one might have.

Sky Dare by zchangvx 2018-08-14T03:23:23Z

This gets hard really quick! I tried a few times and only made it to around wave 8 or 9 at my best (i didn't look at the end because it got too nuts!)

One thing is i felt like sometimes my gun wouldn't shoot - is there a reload or something i'm missing? It would delay for a few clicks then it would work as usual.

I love how the birds at the start drop when you shoot them, it was oddly satisfying and I really (for some sick reason - idk) enjoyed the beginning of the game for that reason!

Comfort Zone by radow 2018-08-14T01:42:42Z

High marks for theme and for overall here, what a great commentary on how people can be ignorant of those around them.

Having gone through some personal stuff in the past few years, I've realized how common it is for people to say some really stupid things without thinking about it

HI-5, great work!

Viral by BigBossErndog 2018-08-14T02:41:45Z

Nice attention to detail on the folders and their contents. I definitely enjoyed clicking through and looking around!

Butt.vir made me laugh also but I'm immature like that.

I don't feel like I did that well with my best time being about 2 minutes out of a few attempts but you nailed the theme and I didn't know how to give you props for all the details so I rated 'mood' for that, hoping others do the same and you get the scores you deserve!

Space Collapse by Steffanie 2018-08-14T00:04:39Z

This was neat! Gravity is a tricky thing to program to feel right and I think you got it pretty close here. The controls took me some getting used to, I found myself wanting A and D (left and right) to continuously circle the sun instead of having to use up and down to move in those directions.

Beyond that, it was fun enough to make me give it a couple of good tries and see how far I could get but I had trouble with the fire asteriod and green asteroid (radioactive?) parts and ended up dying in the huge swarms of them.

How far did I get compared to game length?

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

RootNote by djfariel 2018-04-25T03:44:20Z

The art and sound is really well done, and a rhythm based 1v1 fighting game is a cool concept. This is my highest rated game yet, but the white nubbit is a jerk and I can't beat him and why am I so bad at this?!

Keyboard Army by PeachTreeOath 2018-04-24T03:38:07Z

I love typing games so I was super excited to see this. It's neat paired with a card game too since it adds a sort of real time element to it.

I don't think i quite grasped what switching active lanes does - the cards seemed to always go to the next available lane. maybe I was goofing up.

I lost on level 3 just the same, the creature names got deceptively long and I got a little overwhelmed. It definitely got easier when I was able to memorize the card pictures and associate them with the names though. I liked the music and art, and overall the idea hit the theme better than anything i've played yet.

Checkmate by aevek 2018-04-25T03:18:49Z

Real time chess with satisfying combat. You definitely hit the theme right on the head.

The environment is great, the game is intuitive (as a chess player, at least), and it's really just a cool, unique and fun to play project. I couldn't win but I'm probably not done trying.

Midnight pulse by Szekeres Szabolcs 2018-04-24T03:44:48Z

I f*cking love this. I have one complaint, and that's the checkpoint system. I want to restart from the very beginning so I can chase that high score, vs restarting from deeper in where it's harder with 0 score.

I just restarted the whole app to retry, and I'm #3 on your scoreboard right now but I'll be back, believe me!

Really super fun, I didn't mean to lead with complaints but I only complain because I wanted to re-try quicker.

Pizza Chef by imKrye 2018-04-24T03:00:28Z

This was addicting. It was devious of you to put the kitchen out of view of the dining room so I had to actually work to remember what to make. (In a good way).

It took me a second to realize I had to get the pizza dough so I kept trying to some some poor dude bacon and peppers on a slab of cheese, but after I figured it out it became a fun little game of 'serve this one, memorize that one, etc". I played for quite a while, fun!

Gobbie's bad day by Procrastinaaaa 2018-04-24T03:04:28Z

What's here works well, the animations are neat - did you make them yourself? I've been picking up unity a bit and 3d stuff is so much more tricky than people initially think.

Even though it's not done, there were no bugs and it had gameplay so all in all that's a victory. Are you going to continue developing it at all?

Midnight Thief by Deadly Apps 2018-04-24T05:24:11Z

Simple and fun. I loved lemmings and made the connection instantly. I popped into your stream and you demo'd it for me and it got way more clear. Glad you put instructions in the itch page, it's fun once you learn it!

Prison Cat by figrita 2018-04-24T03:11:04Z

There are those days when you catch yourself playing cards against a cat for way longer than you should. They make you question a lot of things, but most of all, why I can't guess the freakin cards right.

I played your game for a good 15 minutes or longer. You must have done something right. Nice job! I like the cat art and I like how the eyes follow the cursor around - little details like that go a long way in jam games!

Cities: Platforms by lucasbra1 2018-04-24T02:55:50Z

Looks like I'm the first customer!

At first I thought I outsmarted the game by building on the sides but that turned out to be a no go, and then I got wrecked due to my 'all my eggs in one basket' approach. So I spread out a bit and did much much better.

It wasn't immediately clear what each room type did, but my strategy was to just keep a variety and that seemed to keep me in business most of the time.

Do the meteors fall randomly? It felt like they were seeking out my structures at some points which was a little discouraging, but maybe it was just bad luck!

No bugs, smooth and intuitive, and a creative little game. Hi5!
