I can't run this game :L I don't have adobe AIR and when I enter their site to download it redirects me to their creative cloud membership page, if you can you should include air with the game.
Game looks cute and simple wish I could give it a go :(

@Firewill Sorry to hear that you can't run the game. I have uploaded a new build with air installer included. If you wan't you can check it. It's really inspiring to see you found it kinda cute :)

I did try downloading this new version, but it prompts me to the same dialgo box that says: "Installing Warpy's World" the bar finishes, claims verifying download, and then closes, nothing happens, I have run both installers a handful of times too.
I think Air is now locked inside Adobe's Creative Cloud, so there should be a way to export an app that doesnt require it.
Not sure, I'd love to hear someone elses experience, because I dont know if this is just me or the installer.

Very interesting puzzle game! The art style reminds me a lot of Madoka Magica for some reason- and that's a good thing. :)
Nice job on your game, the clone mechanic is neat!

@firewill Sorry to hear that mate. Did the game install at all? If it has installed check out the game installation folder and I've provided the air installer. Alternately try out this link to download air it works https://get.adobe.com/air/
@slimabob Thanks for liking the game!!! I had great fun making the jam version and hopefully will expand on it in the future.

@jorbits Sorry to hear that and this is really frustating. I can't figure out what could've gone wrong. All you need is an adobe air runtime to play the game. Here's the link https://get.adobe.com/air/ but if the game doesn't install at all that is really frustating.
Excellent art :D!

Nice art and puzzles, but the game is pretty glitchy. You can walk into the side of blocks, and sometimes if you spawn your clown and walk to the edge, it would just go up. In the end there was only rain. Don't know if that was intentional or not. By the way, this was the jam version. I think some of the things I have addressed might be fixed in the post jam version, but it wouldn't install. It said it couldn't be installed because of a certificate problem.

The hand-drawed artstyle is really cute. Cats are always a win in internet standarts :P

@nofxboy1234 Thanks!!! Glad to see you liked it! @navot Nice to see you liked it!!! Most of the problems you mentioned was fixed to a certain extent in the post jam version as you've guessed. Regarding the post jam versions not installing it was due to a weird certificate problem that happens when the updated versions of game executables are signed with different digital certificates,a goof up upon my end :( I have fixed the problem and uploaded new post jam versions and they should install without a hitch...so if you still feel inclined you can check those. Anyways thanks for checking my game out! @nilead Hey thanks man!!! Really appreciate it!!!

Nice concept, maybe next time you have more experience and that glitches don't willappear, i miss some kind of jump action and more platforms, maybe some enemies, dont worry is a good concept. Well done.

Good job with the art, really cute. The puzzles are challenging and interesting too. There are a few little glitches but nothing important.

@epiplon Please download and install the game from the website. The itch app installation is not working for some reason.
@vidinu Glad to see you liked it!!! Most of the glitches are fixed in the post jam version. Yeah jumping would be great and the character could actually jump but I decided to actually scrape the feature at the end as I couldn't come up with satisfying puzzles involving the mechanic within the time frame of the jam. I would definitely check out your game the first thing in the morning as it's already past 3 a.m here :)
Nice art and some idea but the puzzle are not very intuinive. The atmosphere is cool, nice entry :)

The artstyle is really well done! What software did you use in order to create the game? Flash would be one of them, but what else did you use?
nilanjan
2017-05-02 13:46
@wtoa Thanks for liking the art. The graphics were all hand drawn and then imported to photoshop. Also all the frames of the cat animation were hand drawn on paper.
It's always nice to see hand-drawn art used in a game, combined with the rain ambience it made for a pretty cool atmosphere. Sadly, the game was full of glitches. Also either the jumping didn't work, or it was intentional to leave that out, in which case the controls on the opening screen shouldn't show all the arrow keys :) A feature this game would also greatly benefit from would be movement in mid air, because like this, seemingly easy jumps have to be solved by practically walking from one platform to another...
jaytord
2017-05-02 14:27
I "solved" all levels by lowering 1 block and moving through all others till the door. Seems like it wasn't supposed to work like so...
I only can praise the art.
nilanjan
2017-05-02 14:28
@somethinboutgames Glad to hear that you liked the art. The jumping was left out intentionally. Yeah showing the up key was a goof up on my part :( The glitches are fixed in the post jam version but shouldn't have been there in the first place.
It wasn't intuitive that you needed to hold down shift and move to position the clone. Also (and I don't know if this is a bug that has been fixed in the post-jam version) the clone doesn't wrap around on the edges of the screen, making it tricky to get the spacing between the two right. It also wasn't clear when the hearts damage you and when they don't. Sometimes dropping on them from above made them disappear (although, having since read your description, this might have been because Warpy and his clone were positioned on top of each other).
nilanjan
2017-05-02 14:47
@jaytord That is fixed in the post jam version, you can no longer do that :)
@paperclipbadger The red hearts damage the player as well as the clone. So you can use the clone to take damage for you. There are multiple ways of solving a level. As for the clone not wrapping around I didn't find this during testing so might have overlooked something.
The concept and art is good but every level can be finished abusing some collision bugs, the game feels really buggy is not that fun sadly, but if you polish it more you can have a nice game. Also after the last level the screen just let you see the rain correct? Or did i encounter a level loading bug?
nilanjan
2017-05-02 17:07
@sachos345 Yeah the jam version is pretty buggy due to the lack of time I had. I almost skipped the jam. The bugs you mention have been fixed in the post jam version :) And no that's no level loading bug that's called lack of content ;) Anyways glad to see you liked the art!
I love the art, the gameplay could maybe use some fine-tuning, which you may have already done.
Really like the art in this game. I had the same problem as mentioned trying to run this with the installer finishing but nothing happening. I tried running it on a old laptop and got to play it eventually. I dont understand why it works on one but not the other, both are win10, nothing flagged by the A/v or anything.
I can't install it, sorry. The way my computer is set up breaks Adobe Air...
burgee
2017-05-03 03:26
I'm having adobe air issues also - I can say though that the art was instant smiles for me.
I was interested enough where I went and searched youtube for some gameplay and found a video that I'm assuming you made - so I'm comfortable enough to rate for the few things I can see (art, mood, theme, etc)
Really wish I could play it! I would caution against using installers for game jams, they turn a lot of people away pretty instantly if it's not just a runnable .exe of the game or a webGL thing. An unfortunate side effect of computer security =(
Good luck in the event!

@Samusoidal @Burgee Sorry to hear that you guys couldn't install the game. I can't figure out why this is happening to some people. I could have easily used Unity to code the game but no I had to go with Adobe Air for nostalgia's sake. Feeling so angry with myself now :(
nilanjan
2017-05-03 07:08
@burgee @samusoidal I've uploaded game files that no longer need separate Adobe Air installation. You can check out the post jam version if you are still interested. I figured that you need to have air installed prior to installing the game otherwise for some weird reason the jam version will not install.
Great art and atmosphere! Not too innovative or original, but fun anyway!

Very good puzzles, it take some time experimenting until you get it right. For me it took a while to knew i could fall without dying. Unique art. As the is no explanations (and i love the vow of silence) you should be a little more careful presenting the mechanics, but great work.
@nilanjan This is just the way my computer is set up. I don't know if I'm allowed to rate the post-compo port (?) but I thought the game was cool (even if I couldn't figure out the mechanics very well).
Positives first. The presentation is rather neat. Hand drawn art has that genuine jam quality to it. To the negatives!
The cloning mechanic is rather buggy (even in the post-jam version). No matter what, the *clone* :cat: always spawns on top of the *real* :cat:. Pressing the key down does nothing special.
Trying to solve the levels then become this weird glitch movement fests where I try to position the clone somewhere else by repeatedly falling and moving at the same time... *Doesn't seem like the intended behavior to me*
The *clone* :cat: can also walk through walls.... Kind of makes sense as it is a ghostly apparition of sorts, but once again... *Doesn't seem like the intended behavior to me*.
After all that glitching a "Congratulations!" screen would have been a sight for sore eyes, but I guess I'll have to do with perpetual rain.
It's pretty cute. And the concept is quite innovative and pretty fun. However, it's pretty glitchey. Trying to get the ghost clone thing where you want it is sort of an exorcise in frustration. I did figure out to move the clone while the main cat is falling, but still it was really difficult to use. The other thing that bugs me a bit, is starting the game, and resetting is done with the mouse, where the rest of the controls are all keyboard. On a keyboard focused game, it would be really nice to be able to fully control it with the keyboard.
I think with some refinement it could be a fun game, and it would be nice for it to be a bit more complete, with an end game scene.

Very beautiful graphics, interesting idea. But gameplay seems to be a little bit buggy, use of shift is not intuitive (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and I don't understand why).
But the cat is nice, and concept is very promising
Really interesting mechanic with shift but unfortunately sometimes it's hard to manage it :P, other than that I like the platforms, rain sound is so calming and makes a really nice atmosphere. The concept is great and the art is quite nice, just gameplay could use some tweaks. Other than that great game!
Wow, that was an interesting puzzle game! Like a weird variation on Braid, really. I like the aesthetic, as well, though for me the audio just came out as a sort of hissing sound. My main complaints would be:
* The basic concepts were not particularly well explained. I had to stumble around and die a lot before I figured out what you're supposed to do; specifcially, it's not at all clear when you first start the game that the world map wraps, or that you can sink blocks. Once I figured those things out, though, it was mostly smooth sailing. * The controls seem a little jumpy/jerky, like, you don't always seem to be moving exactly as you meant to. This could be fixed with just time and testing and iterating, I suspect. * There aren't enough levels, I want more :-p
Anyway, good job so far, and I hope you build on it further!

Hmm, this seems really neat, but I can't quite figure out how the mechanics work. Holding shift spawns the ghost cat, and then it starts floating upwards to the top of the screen after a while? And then I can just walk through the broken hearts with the ghost cat and get to the door? I'm still a little confused. I really like the art style for the game though! It might be good to have a bit of clarification on how the mechanics and controls are meant to work.

2017-05-16 07:34
@philomory Hey thanks! Nice to see someone mentioning Braid as it is one of my all time favourite games and one of the main reasons I got into game developing! And yeah I'll develop this further. @acuity The clone cat once spawned is supposed to trace back to the original starting position of Warpy if the shift key is held long enough. As Warpy is actually spawned at the top of the level initially so if you hold down the shift key long enough the clone will trace it's way back to the top of the screen. So the trick here is to position the clone by holding the shift key long enough so that it positions itself where you want it to be in order to solve a puzzle. Remember the clone can take damage for you.

Game is fina but tools you give the player are kind of puzzling at the start. I couldn't understand how my clone works for a while. And cat's walk speed is just way too slow for my taste. Other than that game is fine I think? Maybe red hearts are kind of misleading? I thought red hearts are good but they kill you in this game for some reason :D Cool art by the way!

I love the cat! But I had some problems while playing, probably the technical part should be improved. Anyway, nica work!
Amazing job on your first Ludum Dare! The graphics are what caught my eye, I absolutely love the style and the feel of the game. (I am also drawn to anything involving a cat! ;) )
It might be helpful in the future to have someone test out your game and give feedback regarding: character speed, control, confusion at the start of the game. Of course, that is the feedback we are giving now, but it can be great to have a tester while you work on it too! Honestly, great job and can't wait to see your name game for the next Ludum Dare!

hey interesting game. i like the strangeness of it and how it is driven by the players curiosity. the puzzle element was interesting, although it was quite ambiguous. i liked the art style and the rain sound was nice. overall id say you have a really interesting prototype and i think you could flesh it out into quite a nice game. good work.

@xxdoombox Hey thanks for liking the game! I always liked games which lets you explore on your own, figure out the world and mechanics out of your own curiosity. I don' like games where there is too much handholding. Now that I'm going to make this into a full fledged game you're going to find lots of secrets , hidden mechanics and what not. There is going to be an emphasis on exploration and minimum handholding. If you find this interesting please follow the game on twitter https://www.twitter.com/maxnim1986
