I f*cking love this. I have one complaint, and that's the checkpoint system. I want to restart from the very beginning so I can chase that high score, vs restarting from deeper in where it's harder with 0 score.
I just restarted the whole app to retry, and I'm #3 on your scoreboard right now but I'll be back, believe me!
Really super fun, I didn't mean to lead with complaints but I only complain because I wanted to re-try quicker.
This was really fun. I think the checkpoint system should have saved your score or base your high score on how far you get in the level. My highest score was my first try before the first check point
Great game! Awesome soundtrack. Super Challenging. One problem is that I wish checkpoints were optional. Getting put in a harder part of the song with 0 score is kind of a bummer if you want top place
@G4MR Really glad you enjoyed the game, we deffinatly were not able to acheive the level of polish we wanted but we got close!
@Burgee Thank you so much for the feedback, your point about the full restart option is deffinatly something that we will implement should we further develop the game.
This is great. Looks gorgeous and love the soundtrack.
@Swarrly & @Rytannic We are getting alot of feedback about the check point system! Haha, we are definatly going to take it on board for future development!
It was fun to play, love the visuals, definitely a fan, the music was super cool as well, seems like we both are fans of the same weave :P.
We also implemented a rhythm game with sick tunes , check it out of you want https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/super-hyperspace-rythm-plus-ultra
This is a little fun game, I loved the art and atmosphere <3. Controller was tight and the music visualization was subtle but gives a lot of life to the game. Good job!
@Q-ro Thanks for the feedback, and glad we both have awesome taste in music! You can check the artist out here: https://soundcloud.com/dream-fiend
@Kichex We were really glad with the environemnt we were able to create! We spent alot of time making the controls feel responsive so we are glad it was noticed :)
Fun game, great music, leader board is fantastic for replay-ability. Well done :D
Really fun game, I like what you did with it. The visuals are really good. The game is hard starting out but you get the hang of it after a little while. Overall I really like it, reminds me a lot of impossible game!
@Leonidus1989 Its awesome how much a bit friendly competition helps ;)
I love the `a e s t h e t i c` really fun and really addictive game. The online leaderboard is a nice touch. Try out my game if you have a chance! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/left-for-bread
This is awesome! I love the music and the timing of the aminations in response to the music
Nicely done! I'm really impressed with pretty much all of it!
@Jrpl Thanks for the feedback!
@GregK We will be going through and playing everyone who comments heres games over the next few days! I look forward to it!
@Artur Hawkwing All props to Deskarter for those, they are amazing!
@gdort Thats awesome to hear! Really glad you enjoyed it!
5 Stars! Best entry i tried so far! Music is good! I 've listened SynthWave for the whole Ludum Date x) Graphics are very nice, gameplay is addictive. I restarted til i made a perfect race. Got the high Score :p (for now 6979) :)
@Mowztouch wow what a compliment!! So glad you enjoyed it!
@Mowztouch we are so happy that you like it and good job on the high score! :)
Like others have said, checkpointing and keeping your current score would make more sense, or not checkpointing and starting with a score of 0 makes sense.
I love the look and feel of the game! The leaderboard gives a good incentive to keep trying and getting better. Gives it a fun competitive edge that kept me playing for longer. Great work!
@Diego Escalante thank you for the feedback. Restart from the start is top priority right now.
@Diego Escalante Definatly something at the top of our list for post ludum dare development. And glad to hear the leaderboard is peaking some interest!
Pretty good game, I really liked the music, to the point where I actually got distracted by it. Although I feel that there is not much feedback when it comes to switching gravity, or from jumping. Nonetheless a still fun to play.
i liked the music the best about this. nice job
@TheLucky Thanks for the feedback, we will work on trying to improve the feel.
@JCMonkey The music is awesome right?!
This is one of the best games on this round's Ludum Dare that I've played. I'm second place at the moment, 6.3k score - I'll be back for more. I might have accidentally put my name on the leaderboard on the lower scores as well.
Absolutely wonderful - the only problem I have is that I had to brute force my way through new things, eg the raised blue platform, the green ones, I didn't know what they were initially.
@DeltaNutmeg Haha love that you enjoyed it!! I think we need to optimise some of the placements to resolve those issues!
Visually pleasant game with 80s vibe.
Oh man how I loved this game. Not sure how much of that is because of the music though :smirk:
I loved the parts where when the music repeated, the level repeated. Gave me a sense that I was getting good at the game, where at first I would fail, the second time I flew right through! The sun as volume control was outstanding. Really cool visuals, and great job on tying platform obstacles to the beat. Oh, and I liked the parts where the ball flew really far when the music was at a lull.
Favorite LD41 game so far!
Loved it, great music, two main complaints: restart should be keyboard rather than move to the mouse constantly, and it should be immediate rather than countdown. Awesome game though.
Great stuff! Had a really good time with this one.
@AfroAnt thanks heaps for the feedback and it was super fun watching you play it!!
@dragonslumber great feedback, have noted that down for future development!
@Thomas Shikany glad you enjoyed it!!
Like old times! it feels so freakin great! Hotline Miami in our hearts!!! Maybe you like our game for the same kind of aesthetics, try it! :D
Super fun game with great integration with the soundtrack. Excellent visual style and interesting gameplay. The only frustration was not being able to quick restart straight from the keyboard. Space key to restart would be perfect. This game is like a synthwave version of Thumper, you should absolutely keep working on it. Great job!
@CrazyHomeboys Thanks for the feedback! The 80's Synthwave style is KreyGasm.
@LandoSystems Thats for the feedback, that is deffinatly something on our list when we pick the game back up post LD!
Really good game. Bit challenging but fun. Love it!
Nice job guys ! feels pretty polished for a jam game, especially the art (graphics and music). Very fun !
@meskaline we are glad you enjoyed it!
@La mecanique du plastique thanks for that feedback!
The visual design language was a little confusing at times where a ledge could be blue rather than red when it was a jumping off point; if the visual design was a little more consistent, the game would feel better to play.
With that said, with some minor tweaking to the levels so that everything feels like it follows the rhythm properly, this could very easily be a commercial product. Solid work in general!
Fantastic mood and good feel. It would be a waste to re-iterate the checkpoint complaint because others have done it already... It was very addictive, in large part thanks to the leaderboard. That was definitely a good move. This was one of those games that I stopped because I needed to move on to others, and not because I was sick of it. That's a big deal! Great job guys.
Super great mood and feel. I wish the visuals were more fair for hinting you at when to hit a button. If you are in a blue zone and you hit up or down it should always let you land correctly. If there is a tighter timing window it should be visualized as such. It feels unfair when you fail but feel like you did what the visuals were asking for. Great game overall though!
This was a very nicely polished game! The mood, visuals and music were great. The jumps went very well in time with the music. I got a strange glitch at some point after failing too many times where the music stopped, which was odd. I am unsure what could have caused this.
I personally got very stuck at the point where you have to start doing both the jump and up/down together, but I think that was just me not being very good at music beat games as opposed to the game being too hard. Though it did feel for me like it went from quite easy/doable to suddenly a bit hard/more complicated. At first I didn't understand that I needed to jump onto the blue block and then press down/up.
Overall though I think this is very brilliantly done and I'd love to play a more fleshed out version!
Well done on your game, I must say it plays fun and it was fun. The music goes very well together without being too repetitive. I enjoyed it a lot even if it was hard at first to play it. Just saw your stream where you actually run it flawlessly. Good job! :)
@Langotriel Thanks for the feedback, we will need to ensure our visual language is better communicated in future.
@topbraj Thanks topbraj!! Was awesome watching you play the game on twitch :D
@erebus really glad that you enjoyed the environment we built! And the visual queues have been touched on a few times, we defiantly needed more attention to detail in that department.
@Goat Toaster Games The music stopping issue is with our volume slider, we were not able to advertise it at all but the sun in the background is the volume slider! So when you clicked retry it must have switched the music off as the button was at the bottom of the sun. Silly issue for us but we ran out of time! Glad you enjoyed the game though!
@Corbak Glad that you enjoyed it and even cooler that you checked out our streams!! <3
You guys really put together a nice game!
I think other people have pretty much covered it about checkpoint complaints and gorgeous visuals  reminds me a bit of Thumper
One thing: at the very beginning, if I timed the jump just a smidge too early, the ball would stick on the corner of the next platform and wouldn't move for a few seconds before going on. didn't happen very often, but if I tried for it I could get it once in a while. Makes me wonder if there's other places to "stall" the ball and get free points :smiling_imp:
Thanks for making this game!
@MarkoPoloDev haha cheeky!! We will look at resolving the collider issues with the ball getting stuck though! Maybe we have cracked the code as to how some people have crazy high scores!! Thanks for the feedback. :)
Nabbed that highscore! Aw yeah!
I died so many times 'cause I was dreamily looking at the awesome background. It was fairly challanging, so it took me quite a while to complete, but never got frustrating.
Nitpicks: * I encountered 2 volume related issues - once after dying the track jsut stopped playing (or was silent, can't say), so I obviously had to restart 'cause of the sick track and another time the volume seemed to changed slightly between respawns * I was not super keen on guessing when to jump 'cause the terrain was in the way or the camera was too slow to catch up to the ball.
I just LOVE the synthwave aesthetic! Great animations and the bright neon lights really bring alive the rhythm! The gameplay was very unforgiving though as you couldn't see far enough, with platforms being way outside the viewport. Neat entry though!
