Felt good collecting space dust! Good job :smile:

Felt good collecting space dust! Good job :smile:
I liked it a lot! It was a very ambitious project and in many aspects I think you nailed it. The sound volume varied a lot among the characters' voices and the chess part was really confusing (and I'm a chess player). The quality of the acting also varied a lot. When the girl was pulling off a twig it sounded very sexual and totally out of context. Other than that, it's a sweet and interesting world with a lot of potencial. At one point the character moonwalked and it was very funny! I checked the middleware you used and $70 is very expensive!
All in all, a great entry. Congratulations to everyone involved!
And I'd be delighted if you could check mine.

@jsmars you'll get a kick out of using the UnityEditor. Have fun! :smile:
The pixels are so so cute :heart_eyes: I'm sorry you had problems at the end of the jam, but you know, it happens to us all!
Please make a WebGL version.
@travis-w-hendrix oh yes I am :heart:
A very very nice entry! I love tetris and text games, so this was amazing :smile:
Really difficult to form words though, I wish it was possible to rotate the tetris!
Nice entry! I really liked throwing floaters at the fishes' faces :fishing_pole_and_fish:
I had fun :smiley:
I thought of a lot of possibilities for a game in this LD. This wasn't one of them. Congratulations!
Tough as nails! No reverse gear though :slight_frown:
Well, let me start by saying I'm offended for I'm a very pro-munchies guy myself :laughing: I really liked the pipe dream part, it was really fun and nostalgic! Now the second part I didn't get. The nano bots would appear at random positions that I could not change and even though I *managed* to keep the food out of the way. It said "you failed" followed by "you beat the munchies". Also, when I was first building the pipe dream I failed, so when it restarted the soundtrack was playing twice! My maze was so elusive food actually went back the way they came :trophy:
Nice job!
The graphics are so cute, but this jumping time is so ungrateful 😩! I encountered a minor UI bug: when the card of "beat the element" shows up, the left eye of the octopus is over it. I wish I took a screenshot to show it.
Really hard! Cute as hell though :dog:
Tutorial finished and then I couldn't play any longer (screen wouldn't accept any more input) bg.png
The tutorial was hard though, I also hated that wrong inputs take so long to be erased. Also, I'd rather typing "kickflip" than "kcfp". Game design should've adapted accordingly.
Awesome idea, but I didn't like the rotating! It'd be more fun if 'A' and 'D' moved the character and that he always shot at the mouse direction.
Damn, I really liked the humor and the graphics :smiley: Nice job!
I like what you did with the art and mixing top-down and platform is not an easy task. Well done!
I actually read that book! :smile: Nicely done!
Nicely done! I'm really impressed with pretty much all of it!
Hey @vilix64, I'm glad you liked it :smile: All art assets are free items from the Unity Asset Store, so it's not fair that I compete with people who actually made some art assets this weekend! It's one of the LD's courtesy rules :)
@Jima that's an excellent point. Since the jam is still going on, I fixed it :D It's funny how some crucial stuff really escapes you throughout the development! I updated the version on Game Jolt (0.2.0) and also the source code. Thanks again!
@infinitycore what do you mean by the gun being laggy? Yeah, this off-screen problem is because of the camera shake. My fault!
@infinitycore well, there are particles when a shot hits a creature and a ricochet sound when it hits something else. If you shoot the sky, for example, there's no ricochet sound. Do you mean the shots at the boss?
@kromeboy the target is spot on and the stars are supposed to be hard to shoot :) What do you mean by "manual reload"?
Thanks for playing, @BlazeDragon! Yeah, you gotta be smart with the reloading or else this happens.
Thanks, @RobinbyZhou! I didn't make it, but I spend a lot of time searching for it and putting it inside Unity. The music was done by a friend of mine, I'll make sure to pass the compliment!
@EkkoEkko and @Sokuaisushi, thanks a lot! @ViridianGames yes, there was a certain point where I had to decide if I was going to keep it short and sweet or not. About the controls, they are in **bold** in this page. Also, I mashed up western (1880's) and psychedelic (1960's).
@Sokuaisushi it took me A LOT of time to set up the town, with good camera angles and whatnot! I'm not an artist and perhaps that's the reason why it took so long!
@Yanek thanks for the kind words! It is very short because I spent a lot of time trying to make it look good and I did it alone! It is possible to finish the game unscathed by reloading at key moments, I made sure of that! The stars are possible to collect if you shoot at them, but maybe because I used a mesh collider it's tricky to get it right!
@alex-adedge thanks! Yeah, I added difficulty in my last build (around 10h before the end of the jam) because I thought it was too easy. Full screen is a must on this one also because of some camera and UI bugs. I also hope I get a good score for mood :fingers_crossed:
@marcial Shoot while reloading? That's not very realistic. Git gud 💪
@oedipeGames Thanks, man!
@gaming-night Check the description :sweat_smile:
@bomb-x I got a movie genre (western) and combined it with a music genre (psychedelic). The theme never said it needed to be a game genre :wink:
@dixonary thanks! That wouldn't happen if you made sure to leave no survivors. Git gud 💪
Hey @honey , thanks for the compliment! Can you check it again? I changed the resolution preferences at gamejolt and I suppose that would solve the problem. I'm working with a full HD monitor here, no problems. Also, if you could send a screenshot so I can better understand your problem. Thanks!
@ViridianGames, @Yanek, @Dixonary, @honey
I put instructions at the beginning of the game, as well as an option to use fullscreen by pressing F (I noticed some people had problems with the browser fullscreen button). I put a BoxCollider at the badges because apparently the MeshCollider is just too difficult to hit. This is version (0.3.0), everything else stayed exactly the same.
And just to prove it's possible: all stars.png I managed to face all waves unscathed.
Thanks, @notb! I started with this western sci-fi concept but then the only free 3d enemies at the unity asset store that looked like something from outer space and had animations were those mushrooms. It turned psychedelic at the very end :sweat_smile:
@honey thank you for your feedback :pray:
@Behenate would you care to elaborate? The gameplay isn't exactly new since rail shooters have been around for a while (I remember playing House of the Dead at the arcade).
@LemonBalmGames I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed it this much :smiley:
Nah, I just think I got creative! The first idea I had was to mix two **game** genres, but then it proved more difficult and less fun than I expected. I read the guidelines for this LD and it said that genre is a way broader spectrum than game genres. That finally got me going and this is the result!
Well, about being old: that makes two of us! I remember playing Virtua Cop back in the arcade :older_man:
@Q-ro good point, I guess you're right about that :slight_frown: The mushroom collider is not as precise as the rest of the game. My fault!
@fidrik yeah, I thought of making the boss shrink as he spawns more and more mushrooms, but at the end I just wanted to be done with it. You're totally right when you say it could've been more interesting. Thanks for playing!
@Gonz0 yeah man, I tell my students that all the time! It's actually very rewarding working with free assets because it's only up to you to mash them up together and make them work as a game. I'd love to take a look into your game!
@isopoly true, maybe their speed could decrease a little. And hey, don't sell yourself short :smile: I've been making games for 7 years now.
@Mowztouch thank you!
@finalspace getting the hang of the reload speed is a must to beat this game! You're right, I could've done more levels, but since I did this alone and took a lot of time in order to adjust the visual aspects of the game, only one level was possible. Also, I decided not to exert myself too much for a jam. Usually I sleep 44 out of 48h, this time around I only worked 15 out of 72h hours.
@Jonathan-lorenz damn man, that sucks! Is the whole game lagged or is it just the input? If you can record a video so I can see what's going on, it'd be much appreciated!
@NerdyTea thanks! Yeah, it came a point in development where I was supposed to put a MeshCollider on the SkinnedMeshRenderer of the shroom and update it every frame because it is animated. And fearing it would make the game too slow (because it actually does), I just put a BoxCollider.
shroom.png
It's not exactly accurate but it does include most of the shroom's body. Thank you for playing and for your feedback.
@lawnjovi thanks :smile: now that's one thing to think about! Maybe there could be some interesting levels, with horses, trains and stuff! I'll think about it.
@nick-gooch thank you, Nick!
@Cornel I have the habit of throwing away the first 3 game ideas I have, because they're usually very commonplace. I had lots of ideas for mixing genres, but no idea was fun enough I wanted to develop. So when I broaded the spectrum of what the theme _meant_, it was much easier.
Some people said I cheated, but I think they're just jealous they didn't think of that :laughing:
@Ethereal-Psyche-Games you're way too kind :blush: You just made my day!
@TayGoS Awesome! Thank you so much :smile:
@tsedate Exactly! If you discover the sweet spots you're set! I wish I had done something more amazing with the boss, my gf actually pointed out she missed a health bar as well. Thank you both for your feedback :heart:
@Jonathan-Lorenz well, I didn't want to kill myself in this jam for a change, so I worked in my spare time. Even though I didn't make the graphics I had to choose them and spend some time putting them together. That's why the game is so short. I see it as a proof of concept and it only became so polished because of its shortness.
@cristiano-m-garcia That's a very generic review, but thank you nevertheless! I'll check your game as soon as I return from my travels.
@MacDoom I'm sorry for not meeting your expectations. It's like if the theme was "cake" and you only expected to see chocolate cakes. There are plenty of delicious flavors out there waiting to be tasted despite your limited palate.
@beebo-studios dolphins are really smart! That was a solid description of what happened. I'm really glad you liked it and also perceived the nuances of the development.
So beautiful! The first story only counts as a sport if you consider how you played with my heart.
Why did you opt-out humor category? I had a good chuckle with the defeat sound :laughing: The game is really unfair, adversary players come out from nowhere!
Tough game right there! I really like the art :smile:
Please make a WebGL version.
Loved the humor, the art and the music. The moonwalking bandits were sad though.
Man, you should correct your entry type to "WebGL" instead of "Windows"!
It's so trippy, I loved it. Very hard to solve the puzzles though.
I took the seed, planted and nothing happened. What did I do wrong?
Please port it to HTML5
Nicely done! :smiley_cat:
That was really dark. I loved it!
So pretty! :sob:
If you want more ratings just port it to WebGL :wink:
Implementing an ice hockey mechanics is not trivial at all! Nicely done :smiley:
Nicely done! I felt like I was cheating going through the lowest way :D
lots of letters.png
I wish I could dump some useless letters (such as W after getting a sword). Nice concept!
I'm very impressed with the graphics and the idea! :fireworks:
Preciso estudar melhor anatomia! :laughing:
3) A "IA" tá bem zoada. Nenhum carro fica fazendo zigue-zague desse jeito. Dá pra colocar um SphereCollider do tipo trigger num gameObject filho do carro e fazer uma função mais ou menos assim: ``` private void OnTriggerEnter(Collider other) { if (other.tag == "Obstacle") { if (other.transform.position.z <= transform.position.z) { //obstacle is not ahead of me, so it's cool return; } //is it in front of me though? float left_limit = transform.position.x - m_car.transform.localScale.x / 2; float right_limit = transform.position.x + m_car.transform.localScale.x / 2; float obstacle_pos = transform.position.z; if (left_limit <= obstacle_pos && obstacle_pos <= right_limit) { //Tell car to change lanes. m_car.ChangeLane(); } } } ``` Dessa maneira o carro não fica fazendo troca de pista sem motivo.
A cool challenge, but sometimes it's very unfair (like two projectiles of the same color come at pretty much the same time in totally different directions, making it impossible to get both).
It kinda irritated me that I had to read fast because of the countdown :angry:
One of my basketballs were stuck on the ground :tired_face:
Can't seem to get a date even if I'm a CEO and own a sports car. Just like real life!
Cool concept, I bet you guys had fun developing it :D
It took me a while to beat the game, but man, what a result for a first game jam. Seriously, congratulations! I had a blast playing it :smile:
So silly and heartwarming :blue_heart:
Couldn't play :( Bullets are not colliding with the UFOs
@tsedate nice, thanks! Ok, now I played and I gotta say: what a waste of good fruit! :slight_frown: If I don't kill the spaceships they mess up my game..
Really fun though! I wish it had an ending!
I don't see how this fits the theme at all.
