Loved the humor, the art and the music. The moonwalking bandits were sad though.

cincodenada 2018-04-24 07:00

Definitely a lot of potential here! I have sympathy for the not having time to finish everything :) Love all the animals and the graphic style!

tokkiseul 2018-04-24 07:31

Amazing graphics and audio! I really liked the game intro aesthetics. I can't wait to see the finished version of the game!! :D

larryseinfeld 2018-04-24 07:39

You say you didn't get everything done, but what you got done in the time allotted is really impressive still! Quality visuals, nice music, fun game (love the tutorial setup and transition to game).

alex-adedge 2018-04-24 07:52

@cincodenada Yeh so much to do, so little time! We lost a good deal of time to working day-jobs, job interviews etc etc that all seemed to want to happen during the LD. But pushed through and we're pretty happy with the progress we made :)

@tokkiseul Thanks, yeh I had a brainwave early on about doing the menu screen inside the game. During LD40 I wasted a lot of time setting up menus so combining it with the game itself meant we could have a cool little start area + a testing zone during development. +never had to manage or switch scenes at all!

@LarrySeinfeld Cheers :) And glad you liked the intro setup too!

I didn't understand if I could do anything else than fight the bandits, but I beat all the ones I saw before they get all my livestock - after that none of the two bandits left was seenable, but I guess it's normal. Overall, you made something very impressive and that I would like to see in a more advanced version! Good work!

dragonslumber 2018-04-25 15:51

I'm guessing the farming never got implemented, which is a shame. Would have liked to see more, I think the visual style really works!

alobker 2018-04-25 16:48

The game looks great, but the controls are horrible. This momentum based walking isn't working well for me.

alex-adedge 2018-04-26 10:05

@LeReveur Yeh at this point all you can really do is fend them off. We're working on a post-jam version with some of the more crucial features we didnt quite get working that will add a lot of gameplay + some bug fixes/balancing. Was a shame we didnt get building and basic farming in. Thanks for the feedback!

alex-adedge 2018-04-26 10:07

@dragonslumber Stay tuned for a slightly improved version with more gameplay, glad you like the graphics!

@alobker We appreciate the feedback! Ive added to my todo list for the pos-jam version to lock down the movement a bit because we agree, its like the character is on ice. Will bump up the the friction and drag.

landosystems 2018-04-27 02:18

Nice art style but the movement was pretty frustrating... The player can't move on the diagonal but the bandits can. They deserved every last punching they got!

lyje 2018-04-27 12:11

Agree with @LandoSystems! Would be nice to have more analogue movement.

You can find the full track on my SoundCloud page. I didn't manage to get it all finished in time but there's still a good amount of track there. :)

Really great style! I could see the potential here so it's unfortunate you couldn't finish. With some weapons you could go for a Seven Samurai type of story where they were samurais protecting farmers from bandits. Amibitious goal, I'm impressed you went for such a complex game.

gennon 2018-05-07 18:34

Loved the graphics! This can really be something cool if you get the game-mechanics and AI working! For some reason I had no sound. Good work!

cristiano-m-garcia 2018-05-07 18:52

I really liked the graphics. I had trouble finding the commands, but I managed after a while and had a lot of fun. Congratulations for the game.

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.

The graphics are cool, the controls feel a little bit delayed, but overall I like it :D

Hey!Good work!I really liked the 3d environment,it gives you the sensation of liberty haha. The work given for the ambience music is very impressing and is a good part of the game!I also liked that you can go visit the bandits and punch her faces haha.Sometimes the bandits where stuck in the walls corners.Anyways amazing work :)

Here is our game if you want to try it! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/me-da-miedito-la-oscuridad-i-get-goosebumps-in-the-dark

firesplash-entertainment 2018-05-08 12:18

Nice idea! Unfirtunately the mechanics did not go good for me... I just had stacks of bandits running against walls and stones... But you mentionaed that... I will just rate the idea and remove one star for not completing to be fair against others.

Oh and the controls were a bit confusing as of the angle

teklarit 2018-05-08 18:47

Minimalistic and amazing design! Very fun game. Good sound effects. Good work!
