Very fun for something without much going on, feels and looks really nice!
Graphics are really nice, but didn't really get what to do beyond eating and praying.
Controls make it fairly frustrating, unfortunately.
Very nice. Some gates are virtually impossible to hit though!
Very fun, love the graphics. Camera is a bit frustrating (would strongly prefer static or at least one that only rotates on command) and I'm not sure the destruction of the arena adds anything to the gameplay other than annoyance since it's only a minor inconvenience. But overall great!
Would need more to break monotony after a while, but a nice concept.
Interesting idea, but as others said clicking one player places your first circle. So you've not got many options!
Atmosphere is nicely ominous, but not convinced about it "fixing" first person platforming.
Collision detection is a little finicky, but in general well executed.
Didn't quite get what was going on, but finished it. Shooting mechanic wasn't particularly satisfying, but overall it was solid.
Cool physics, an enjoyable sandbox.
Neat idea, but needs more polish.
Couldn't launch it on OSX 10.6.
Really nice aesthetic, sound, music and atmosphere. The concept is great, although I couldn't quite get to grips with the controls.
Graphics are nice but combat mechanics are a little unsatisfying.
Graphics and atmosphere are amazing, love the lighting! Very tricky though, and fairly punishing given you have to restart the whole level on death.
Great mechanic, love the graphics. Would be nice to restart quicker.
A little confusing, but a nice idea and great presentation.
Couldn't run on OSX - the error just said "couldn't run"!
Very cool!
Solid, but could do with more variation.
Cool stealth mechanic. The one raygun shot feels a little redundant as you can complete it without, and even seems like it discourages the use of stealth play a bit. But overall works well!
Love the graphics, style and audio! Gameplay is very grindy, obviously, but given it's kept short it's still fun til the end.
Controls are annoyingly finicky sometimes, but the concept, mechanic, graphics and audio are all fantastic!
Addictive, fun, great presentation.
Cool mechanic. Love the description on the hallucinogen planet!
Pretty cool. Tricky, but very satisfying when you kill an enemy.
Short and sweet, great atmosphere!
Pretty nice concept and generally well executed, but the jumping could do with work. Loved the music!
Cool, but restarts after the first mission? Also runs pretty slowly. But fun nonetheless!
Pretty good! Nice presentation, although some issues with the text at the upper left in-game (disappears behind some world elements). Fun idea, implemented well.
@hate-marina: That would be awesome! I'll stick it on my list of potential additions on my blog post ( http://bit.ly/19aRCph ) and hopefully add some bits!
@KumoKairo: It's just the Unity TrailRenderer component, it's super easy to use. At the risk of shamelessly self-promoting, check out the previous (and first...) post on my blog cos I talk about it briefly.
@Diptoman: Totally agreed on music and the UI - I only had time to use built-in Unity UI which is notoriously awful!
@chamberlainpi: It was actually more inspired by my day job (I'm an accelerator physicist) but it definitely ended up with rovio-esque elements. The forces are implemented in a fairly hacky way so, as you've noticed, it's a little... wrong in some situations! If I were to do this "properly", I'd be very careful with the physics code and start from scratch.
Thanks Christina! The message on level 3 means that you can score more by going the long way round.
@Manou - Unfortunately given the time, I was hamstrung by Unity's GUI code! But you can restart quicker by pressing space.
@xrm0: Thanks! The reason for the "next" button not having a key is mainly to prevent accidental presses, but this would perhaps be solved with better UI (e.g. a bigger button!) anyway.
Nice! Tricky though, and not sure "one keyboard" has much to do with the theme!
Really cool! Very simple, original idea, and very fun.
Love the graphics, sound and concept. Controls are a little tough to get a handle on, but overall really nice.
Controls are a bit slow, boomerang doesn't fire to the crosshair and it's too easy to forget to pick up the boomerang after firing, but the core mechanic is nice and has potential.
Seems very similar to Motherload to me. Collision is a bit frustrating.
Great physics!
Cool, but needs a bit more work to "find the fun".
Not much depth, but very cute! The combination of unconventional controls and a "character" with no clear direction indicator can make it frustrating though.
Ultimately a bit frustrating as a method for moving a character around, but a nice concept nonetheless, so kudos!
Great mix of puzzling and dexterity! But the music nearly drove me mad!
+1 to what @tcarter said.
Great atmosphere, like the central mechanic, although sound could do with some love.
Looks great, sounds great, plays great!
Can't seem to get past the menu? I click but nothing happens. Win7, firefox.
Nice concept, but reeeeeally hard!
Quite fun, very funny, held back by a few really annoying aspects - the game typing out everything it says feels like a big waste of time when you're chomping at the bit to get typing yourself! Really slows things down - had to set the speed to full.
Really moving.
Difficult but very cool.
Graphics were slick, but gameplay felt a bit stilted and unpolished. Not sure what it had to do with the theme?
Great graphics, love the style! Plays well, pretty solid game. Music is nice, sounds need some work, could do with more feedback (graphically and audibly) on firing and hitting etc.
Fun and hilarious!
Download link for OSX seems to be broken.
Fantastic concept, a really nice little board game. Very hard though!
That is super cute, I really loved it! The characters were a bit slow, but the graphics, heart effects, theme and everything else more than made up for that!
Me too...
Interesting concept, but couldn't figure out how to actually make a ship so didn't get very far...
Didn't really get it... couldn't tell any difference between the liberal and conservative, and most of the game code was kinda broken.
Nice! Very difficult on a trackpad :p
As you say, not really a game yet - but still lots of fun! The physics and animation make it really satisfying even without a goal. No idea what's going on though :p
Interesting mash-up of two classics; a nice concept. IMO choosing one key is a liiiiittle tenuous as far as the jam theme goes though!
You've not uploaded anything!
Really cool idea, frustrating but in a "one more go" way!
Solid mechanically, but needs further development. Not sure where the theme is implemented though!
Nice idea, but the controls are a bit broken, things disappear for no apparent reason and depth perception is virtually impossible. Would be really cool with some more polish.
Short, but nicely made.
Fantastic! Love the graphics, especially the sparks particle emitter. Sound is great, gameplay is really fun (if hard!). The only thing I'd say is - skip the intro when you retry, because it's a bit frustrating waiting through it.
Hard, but love the idea.
Excellent concept, and a very well-told story. Overall a good experience but hampered by frustrating reliance on pixel-perfect timing and aiming - would be nice to focus more on the puzzle aspect and the story.
Nice presentation, fairly polished, fits the theme pretty nicely. Ultimately a bit frustratingly difficult, but most of it feels very satisfying. Even dying!
Can get a bit repetitive, but a nice mechanic and attractive presentation.
Nice idea, but without any aid (even a crosshair!) it's virtually impossible to actually hit anything.
Wasn't expecting much, but when my first shot hit I was hooked! Really great concept, really satisfying, really fun!
Great idea, very original. IMO your character moves slowly enough to verge on frustrating, but while the game is pretty difficult it's very rewarding to find the treasure. Feels like a real achievement!
Slick!
Great mechanic! Gets very hard very fast though!
The overworld gameplay is a bit maze-heavy, but the titans are great. The graphics, sound and animation are gorgeous!
Seriously good platforming physics - solid tight controls! Really enjoyed this one and I kept wanting to be a rebel and try and chance it with the chopper. Nope!
Wow. Those wall jumps were insanely hard. But something made me want to continue to the end, and after an hour or so - I finally did it. Lovely graphics and music, unlocking abilities and progressing to previous inaccessible areas felt totally natural. Great flow. Fantastic game, can't praise it enough. This should win!
For some reason I nailed the post-Jam version in a few minutes - as opposed to an hour when I last tried the older version. Is the overhang section much easier now?
Wow - that feeling when I opened the gate into the city after aligning all those rings. And then it ended. Amazing work. MOAR!
Yeah - really love this game, one of my favourites could play this all day. Definitely agree with others, gamepad is the only way to control effectively!
Just completed it - endless mode please!
Probably the best sounding endless runner game in the world
Wish you'd spent more than 6 hours on this - with such graphics!
I'm going to rate this based on what's there - really nice graphics actually and I like the post processing. Gravity I think is a bit harsh and mouse sensitivity is really high although I guess that varies with hardware. A good start so far!
Beautiful low poly art is beautiful! Just wish there was a more clear game mechanic :)
Couldn't beat the safe zone minigame at the boss - as I was using keyb and mouse but still loved every minute of this game!
Found it quite hard to do the tricks in time! Love the theme though :P
Yeah, totally love the art of all of your games! Will definitely check out your future entries :)
Yeah so after progression to the V, the Beneath the Surface theme becomes more clear. Then you get to the U, and yet again things turn upside down on you. What a brilliant fucking game. Graphics are quality. Number of save points is perfect actually, and every death feels like its your fault which is a good thing. One of the best on the LD so far! Looking forward to the full version!
Really hard - but I love the premise of it. Tried several times but I think I wasn't near the surface enough. Love the low poly style, my kind of graphics :)
It's pretty challenging! Love the momentum on the ship. Yeah I'm always a fan of top down shooters like this. Good job doing a HTML5 game!
A totally ingenious way to prevent players from skipping dialogue and not getting the story of your game. Also - it's so fun!
Polished, and found this pretty challenging!
Surprisingly difficult for just surviving 3 minutes! Nicely tactile feeling on the shears. Good gameplay and simple but effective graphics. Love it!
Really hard - but I love the wall jump and dive kick mechanics they felt the most satisfying. Rope whip could do with some fine tuning as I didn't want to use it most of the time. Loving the normal mapped graphics and music!
Simple tower defence so I admit I did get bored rather quickly - but seems like a solid game!
Pretty creepy! Almost salad fingers creepy. I like the idea and would have liked to see more patients!
Cool idea! The difficulty can get frustrating though!
Love the exploration. Overall a good game!
Wasn't sure what to do as it was just showing the splash screen! Unrated as of yet...
Great graphics, solid twin-stick shooter. Could do with some more varied enemies though and gameplay needs to be tighter!
Definitely needs audio - even some crunchy sfxr would have been fine! Otherwise, pretty solid shooter
Really clever concept!
As others have said - would have loved to have seen the GangBeats style dynamic camera on this! Lovely graphics and I really wanted to get that sheep out of there.. :)
Very interesting game and clever mechanic. Thoroughly enjoyed it :)
Simple but very polished and addictive! The narrative in the form of the unlocks keeps you going as well. Haven't got to 450nm yet, but still trying. My eyes are bleeding though...
Pretty good FPS feel and sound - but the environments need some variation, and an automap would have been nice! Also you should lock the mouse cursor when clicking or you will get issues with people clicking outside the Unity web player.
I found the camera and aiming controls to be a bit unorthodox, but nothing game breaking thankfully! Great low poly graphics!
Lovely Rogue Legacy inspired title - graphics and sound are great but I found the gravity to be a little floaty for my liking. Otherwise - love roguelike permadeath games and any twist on the genre is welcome!
Hi there - trying press Y to invert your mouse controls if you're having trouble with it! Thanks so much for playing!
I've just uploaded a new build to fix some mouse issues - the Web player should now capture the mouse so the game is actually playable now :) Enjoy!
@mrhill You have know the idea. The entire team is absolutely knackered and on the brink of death...
@mtinkerhess - We should have made this clearer but the objective is to destroy the red thing (the reactor!) and that will transport you to the next procedurally generated level :)
@Glockenspiel We're still deciding whether we want to take this project further, so at this time we will not be posting any source code :)
@JayPC
http://music.willbedfordmusic.co.uk/track/sublevel-zero-ost
Enjoy :)
Thanks for all the feedback thus far!
@Penguincat: There are definite balance problems, and we're doodling away on an updated version which we'll add soon. We may add adjustable FOV and sensitivity too.
@petey1234567: I was thinking of using InControl, but haven't before so decided to stick with what I knew!
Creepy stuff!
Really hard! Apparently there's a boss so I'm determined to get there. Love the graphics, sound and controls!
Amazing graphics and fog of war. Would love to see a fully fledged version of this! Stealth mechanics actually do work!
Mood and atmosphere is great, and love the graphics. Thought-provoking.
Nice puzzle elements - but I think the platforming physics/feel could definitely be tweaked!
Nice graphics and music but I couldn't get into the puzzles aspect of it!
This is fantastic. Basically Super Hexagon with a gun and dodging bullets. Surprisingly balanced - constant struggle of choice between dodging/surviving and destroying the surface to get through. I love it!
I like the concept and mechanic, just wish it would escalate in difficulty quicker :)
awesome vivid art style and interesting back story. Needs audio and my character was unable to move after the second load.
Wow that art direction is amazing! Way too much going on with the controls though, I think they can be streamlined further :)
Love it! Great mechanics, graphics, colour scheme, sound, love the randomly generated objectives.
Disagree with spartangeek, you can obviously lose if you run out of oxygen - but I did admit found it easy to find the chest. In future versions there should definitely be obstacles in the way! Great first attempt!
Really impressive platforming physics with curved surfaces etc, lovely graphics, music and sound - only one thing I found the last puzzle rather odd and unclear even though I did finally complete it!
Nice little game with an original concept. I found a few bugs though, where Willy would fall through the floor or through a bridge.
Well done overall!
Once I understood the strategy needed, really interesting game and seems very well balanced with the different surfaces. I enjoyed the challenge! Needs music! Love the low poly planet.
What's that spork made out of?! Couldn't get very far without too much slowdown, but fun idea!
Not much in the way of game mechanics, but the generative music was interesting!
Moody and looks good, but the platforming mechanics are a bit too clumsy to get very far.
Wow - I'm actually surprised at this because the graphics was so basic, but I love the fact the fuel runs out pretty quickly so you have to get a move on. Digging mechanics, money + upgrade system from the shop. Lots of potential already, good job :)
The dead corpse floating fish at the end made me give this game maximum humor score. Haha!
Graphics and music are amazing! Obviously PP similarities as others have said - but I do like the censorship theme!
Haha. Loved it, especially the dialog. Great sense of humour!
Very cool little sandbox sim idea :) Limited, but interesting.
Everything about this game is awesome apart from lack of a clear tutorial - so many attributes it is definitely overwhelming as others have said!
Homage to Subwar 2050? I love it! Difficult to control though, but I guess that's what being in a real submarine is like :)
Love the main mechanic. Plenty of possibilities for more levels!
I am not good with numbers or numerical based games so I found this pretty challenging - but I do like the graphics and effects for this!
Nice game! I love the low poly art style. I found it quite hard to control, especially aiming with the mouse.
Wow. Just wow. - Phi
Graphics and animation are the best bit about this game! Minimal but so effective - very Vlambeer. Some crunchy sfx and screen shake would do very well here. Mechanics could do with a bit of tweaking as going beneath the surface is not advisable!
Whoa open the door die instantly that was scary haha! Music was great and thanks for doing procedural generation, my favourite topic :)
This is so damn nostalgic. I'd love to know how you accomplished that camera angle/feel!
Took me a while to figure out the mechanics but after that it was fun for a short time! I like the music and then screen shake effects.
If at first you don't succeed... yeah there was a lot of that! But practice made some sections eventually feel easier. Good job the game!
Graphics and aesthetics are awesome! Nice idea, but I didn't really feel in control of the ship. Perhaps the arcade idea was taken a bit far in that sense compared to giving the player more control?
Love the pixel art, dialogue and the concept, although I can't see the base mechanic being expanded particularly beyond the scope of the current game. Sound effects are nice, but are let down a bit by the music simply because it's quite repetitive.
Very, very weird. Mostly in a good way :) Love the music and graphics, and the first time I used the coffee I laughed out loud. Control is a bit strange; took me a while to realise it was all constrained (took longer because the camera frequently doesn't keep up!). And as fun as using the coffee is, I didn't really get what it did, despite finishing.
I see what you mean about having a similar mood to my game :) But hot damn, that was confusing!
Art is great! Glad to see you've added a bit more length since I saw it last, although obviously it's still pretty short :p Music is a great fit to the train vibe, feels perfect. The only other thing I'd say really is that the jumping feels overly floaty - could do with being a bit tighter.
Really nice! Would be great to see the mechanic expanded to enemies which react differently, perhaps bosses etc.
Afraid I'm not really sure what to do. Opening/closing nodes didn't seem to stop or redirect the green skull or the enemies... looks nice though, and the idea itself seems like a good one!
Many thanks for all the comments so far, really glad people like the game :D
I have no idea what just happened, but I loved it.
Oh my god phi, you made a super meat boy metroidvania?! SO TIGHT
Awesome little game. A little hard to not die (perhaps replacing the hard fail state with something else would help, for instance speed penalty?). Also reducing the resistance the buildings pose to the flail might make for more of a fluid combo feeling. No idea why you've opted out of sound rating - sound and music was great!
Cool graphics, nice concept! Needs a bit more polish and development though; more mechanics would really help.
Could be good, but far too slow and unresponsive at the moment.
Just lovely.
Great concept, fantastic art and animation, superb music. Mechanics could do with a lot of polish though - jumping is frustratingly floaty, upside-down drug causes all sorts of control problems while transitioning, enemy hitboxes feel unfair, thrown drugs passing straight through enemies is frustrating.
Great graphics, but the controls really got in the way for me, and combat could really do with more polish. But a fun little game!
Nice, good fun :) Physics could use work though - pinball games live or die on their physics IMO and it's not quite there yet. A big first step would be increasing the responsiveness of the flippers - they feel very spongey.
Fantastic! Great fun, great graphics, great idea!
Nice graphics amd style, but 'puzzle' mechanic isn't very deep.
Cool idea, but very difficult to control.
Great graphics, nice idea, but the physics could do with being less annoying (although I realise that silly physics is the point, I think it's a little over the top). Not at all a fan of the 'zany' music though.
Nice idea, and the platforming is tight. Graphics and audio are great! Unfortunately the hair swinging physics is quite frustrating and unintuitive, and I didn't get very far because of that.
Really charming. Lovely graphics, sound, atmosphere, writing, concept and humour, in no particular order. Definitely one of my favourites!
Graphics, sound and overall atmosphere are fantastic, as are all the little details. The idea is nice, but it's very unforgiving - it takes multiple tries to even know what's going on before the baby dies. I think there's something fun here but it needs a lot of balancing!
Fery vun! Love the visual style. And the, uh, voice acting :p Massively unbalanced as many have noted, but still great fun!
Well made, but gets repetitive very quickly. Even when the enemies appear it's not very challenging and the days still drag. Could be nice with some balancing!
Good fun! Weird but entertaining physics (and the car turns the wrong way when reversing which is confusing) and looks great. Love the animations on the driver. Camera does make things a little difficult sometimes.
Brilliant graphics, gameplay, sound and writing! Tricky but really engaging.
Thanks guys! Music would definitely help - didn't have time unfortunately! As for bad choices - if anything I was worried that I gave too many good choices, not realistically trumpish enough
@drskort @gurkenlabs Thanks! The balancing is definitely off, although in all honesty I was more interested in the humour than the balance!
@drskort To clarify - most of the art assets are 3rd party (credits/links under the screenshots), and animations are from Mixamo, so I'm perhaps not quite the prodigy you might think
@baubau @doot @tybau I'm really glad you liked it, thank you
@martinitron The golf minigame is completely automatic other than you clicking - I didn't want you to be able to make him play well
@tpcool thanks! It's definitely something of a one-note joke, but hopefully funny while it lasts  Balance is a bit off, but in general the key is to not do what Trump would do when you have the option
Shows promise, but as others have said it would be better to have fewer features and more polish. Air control, camera shake, better collision and controls would all help a lot!
Really enjoyed this! I love multitasking games and this hit the spot. It does get super overwhelming towards the end though, to the point where in some cases I *think* it can be impossible. But I found myself playing it over and over again to get it right! Sound is nice, but too loud (or music is too quiet, take your pick!)
Lovely writing, art and sound. Watching Edgar (the only correct name) develop is great!
Really nice. Simple and polished. Presentation is fantastic in every respect!
The concept is solid and there's clearly something fun here. But it feels very hard, unnecessarily so in some ways - for example not being able to rotate pieces, not being able to "cancel" the piece you just clicked, and how hard it is to instantly see what connections a piece has while they scroll by so fast. But with those changes I think this could be really good!
My favourite so far! Great concept, very well executed. Cute graphics and sound, overall just really really good!
Looks gorgeous and sounds great. The puzzles are neat, although I got stuck quite a few times due to bugs. But the concept is really nice!
Great concept. Nice graphics and lovely music. However it feels unfairly hard - the rocks needed to make new fires are very very rare, and it seems you need a lot of luck to stay alive. Sounds like not being able to relight fires is a bug though, and that would make it a lot more fair!
Loved the pleasantly mad narrative! Overall really well executed. I couldn't get past the FPS minigame though - not sure if I was doing the right thing (collecting the little pig heads with shift) but while the feed counter in the top left went up 2 each time the meter on the pig always kept going down.
Great style and atmosphere. Mechanically it's fun if simple, although the controls are a bit slidey which makes it hard to avoid the trails, and they reaaaaally punish you!
Amazing PSX vibes!
Gorgeous art style and a great idea. It's verrry tricky though - I feel like having to hit them into their own colour should maybe have been added later, as it takes ages to even get through wave 1!
Nicely executed, with some charming dialogue!
Feels great to play, really solid driving mechanics! Very, very tough after a while though - the later time limits feel very stringent!
You had a similar thought to me :) so obviously I think it's a nice idea! Controls are quite sluggish and it's very easy to roll the car - with more responsive physics and mouselook you'd reduce some frustration!
Lovely atmosphere. Not sure I quite understand the game though :)
Nice idea and a great interpretation of the theme. I was hoping for a little more of a puzzle element though!
Really nice atmosphere! Gameplay is a bit tricky to get used to, but satisfying when you get it.
thanks guys! :)
@stellarbeargames "Hilarious psychological thriller" is definitely the quote I'd put on the box  Great to hear I managed that seemingly-oxymoronic balance!
@cole-and-jordan-studios Really appreciate the in-depth feedback! You're absolutely right about the cars - sometimes the game does put you in a situation you can't actually get out of unfortunately. Good suggestion with the speeds
@papaver it definitely can get unfair, sorry about that! And no, no way to win
Absolutely love the lo-fi photo aesthetic! Sound and atmosphere are great too. Takes a little while to work out what the game wants you to do (some of the "help" text at the start perhaps over-complicated things a bit?) but once you know what you're doing it's fun :)
One of my favourites! Starts confusing, gets easier, gets almost meditative, then gets really challenging! Beautiful art style, really innovative mechanics and perfect minimal audio.
Interesting idea, but feels like you don't really have all that much aim control.
Really nice mechanic - actually quite similar to mine! I think there's scope for a great game here, although it can get very boring waiting to align - especially on larger planets - and I must admit I quit before finishing the final level because of that sorry!
One of my favourites. Everything's great!
Really fun mechanic! A few things make it feel harder than it should be mechanically - the physics are a little weird, the radius on the ball to grab it while in motion could be more generous, and enemies sometimes appear right next to you. But the gameplay is still nice, and almost feels a bit like asteroids sometimes. Finally, not sure I get where the theme comes in?
The concept is nice, but in practice the rule changes don't feel like they really change the game much. Controls are difficult, and it could really do with a StarFox-style 3d reticule to know where you're going/aiming! But with some work this could be interesting :)
Nice tight platforming controls and I love the idea of making the same level more and more challenging! I don't know if there's more than 2 levels as I didn't get past the "smarter turret". I do think the second level could be a lot less frustrating while still being challenging - it feels like there's no point making the player run along all those spiked floors each time as you've already tested their ability to do so. I'd love to see that level change more structurally to reflect that, rather than just adding more spikes and turrets.
This is amazing! Love everything about it. Nailed it.
Really like the visual style, and it's massively impressive how much you managed to get done! It's pretty difficult to actually play - the pathfinding doesn't seem to take account of terrain and the units/buildings, while attractive, are very hard to tell apart.
Afraid I couldn't get very far due to bugs - dialogue didn't progress, couldn't move, and camera was on a tilt the whole time :( Looks nice though!
The concept is solid, and actually one of the better ones I've seen for typing-plus-something-else. The colour scheme and gui make the words _really_ hard to see, which is just frustrating, and it's also a little hard to tell where the collision is on the electron. But once you get into the groove it's cool!
Solid concept, really well executed. Clearly a lot of thought went into presentation.
I also can't get past the title, which is a real shame cos this sounds amazing!
Agreed with @justin - I'd love to see it in VR!
SO. HARD. But feels great! Until my arm starts aching, about 2 mins in :p
Really nice! Love the slightly absurdist feeling from the combination of voice lines and objects. Presentation is really slick too.
Yep, pretty mental! Took me a whiiiile to get the hang of the dashes.
Really, really good! The final wave is possibly the most frustrating thing that's ever happened to me - but apparently in a good way since I persevered and finished it!
I like it! Really funny, and the anime-inspired putting-clothes-on sequences were a great touch.
Love the sheer absurdity of it! Made me laugh, but got to admit I stopped reading the text after a while!
While switching between FPS and top-down was a little jarring, once you get into the flow it works nicely and feels pretty good. I'd maybe suggest that when you switch to the top-down view it's oriented to the direction you're facing in FPS mode? Always took me a second to remember which way was which.
I have no fucking idea what is going on but it's terrifying! Which I love. It would be great to see the same game with maybe slightly more explanation, and maybe slowing the ball down or something!
Simple but hilarious! The first time TM said "Fields of wheat" I just about pissed myself.
Shameless plug, but my entry's heavily satirical as well... https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/politics-vs-games-lol
I love the idea of a stealth driving game. The game did lose a lot of its tension though when I realised the guards don't actually do anything!
The mechanic is a nice idea, although in practice it's a little hard to play as the sync between music and arrows drifts a lot, and it's difficult to "lock" into the spotlight such that the keys trigger the dance instead of moving.
Love it. The first time I went from 2D to 3D it was hilarious - I love having the mundane real world and suddenly seeing this crazy perception of the world inside the character's head! Plus the graphics and audio are fantastic.
The one thing I'd say really is that often it seems like there's no quite enough connection between the two worlds - like, I'd be stuck on a cupboard in 2D, then in 3D it's simply not there. Apart from that, great!
Graphics, presentation and juice are phenomenal. Controls are a little strange - the mouse feels almost quantized somehow, and I think that gets in the way of the flow a bit for me. But fun!
Looks and sounds great, obviously! Lots of juice and feels good. As some others have said I'd love to see the rhythm aspect reflected more in the gameplay rather than just the visuals and enemy patterns.
Agree with @LandoSystems! Would be nice to have more analogue movement.
That was actually quite an emotional rollercoaster, at the risk of sounding trite! On a simpler level, I loved the combination of health bar / affection meter. I had the same experience with the boss as @minibobbo, and additionally it would be nice to have a health bar for the boss itself, or at least more feedback that you're doing the right thing - when I died (only to win later) I thought I was meant to, since the boss showed no sign of being damaged.
Nice idea, and a great effort! I think specific things to work on would be controls (mouse sensitivity is very low, firing has a delay), goal detection (I scored once and got 5 points!) and generally tuning the pace and chaos of it all!
Basically echoing what pretty much everyone else has said! Good job! I do have a bug report though - the self-righting mechanism has an interesting result if you end up on your tail :p ezgif.com-gif-maker.gif
Nice idea, works well. Gets frustrating when you get in a situation you can't maneuver out of though!
@Blinkenlights yeah, that sort of stuff is tough on a jam deadline! Never easy to ensure random/procedural elements never break gameplay.
Nicely executed, especially for your first LD! Looks, sounds and feels nice. Could do with more of a card-game influence I think - as it is it's not all that much more than a skin on the bullets, although the different effects on the cards is a nice touch.
I like the idea, but man, this is WAAAY too hard right now for me! A few suggestions if I might.
1) I'd make the SDFJKL letters clearer somehow, or at least mention them in the description or title screen - took me ages to figure out those were the keys I was meant to press.
2) make the lanes visually clear - once I'd figured out the inputs, I struggled to know which key to press until it was pretty much too late.
3) Ramp up the difficulty - to ease players in, it would be really helpful to start with only, say, 3 or 4 keys actually in use, and bring the remaining ones in over time.
4) Make spacebar restart or something once you die - having to move my hands to the mouse and then re-find the SDFJKL keys before getting hit by the first note really hindered me getting used to the controls.
5) More lives! It's frustrating to die so easily, and again, only getting 3 seconds of gameplay before dying gets in the way of players getting used to the controls.
Apologies if that all sounds harsh - it's not meant to be! I genuinely like what you've got and I'd love to be able to actually play it :)
Looks and sounds great, and love the idea! It'd be great to see it developed further. As for when you can improve it, you're probably fine to include links to new versions in the description (rather than in the links section) as long as you make it clear people shouldn't rate newer versions.
Great sense of atmosphere. I really enjoyed just blasting around, especially with how fluid and serene it all felt. It was interesting how the addition of photography made me look at everything differently. More diegetic sound could have added a lot though. Obviously, physics are a bit janky at times and the camera could do with a system to stop it clipping through things at times, but really nice overall.
Not bad - the core concept works nicely and I'd love to see it taken further. Could do with smoother controls, more feedback on when you're hitting (and getting hit by) enemies.
Love the humour, theme and CGA look!
Nice concept that works really well! And the contrast of football with the menacing roguelike style is both unnerving and pretty funny :)
Visuals are absolutely gorgeous, and presentation in general is great. I'm not sure the mix of turn-based and realtime quite works, at least not exactly as implemented here, but I'd love to see some variations on the idea. Also, having the controls be at 45 degrees to the visuals complicates things quite a lot when you're already dealing with the turn-based/realtime mix!
Looks nice and feels fun, but I've got no idea what to do (or what the connection to the theme is)! Sound would also help a lot.
I actually thought the controls were just about right - tricky, but balanced just enough that you feel like it was your own fault when you fall off! Great presentation too.
The writing's great, and works really nicely with the proc gen. Looks nice, works well!
@gdort - it's a twist on the theme, in that I'm using "politics" and "games" as the incompatible things.
F1Krazy - really glad to hear it! With something like this, I never know if I've actually managed to do what I intended.
@noumenus - thanks! Getting stuck is a bug, thanks for finding it!
@dragonslumber That's by design, yeah :)
@ctran13 Thanks :) I specifically picked a tried-and-tested core mechanic to make it easily picked up and not distract from the message.
@RockhopperGames Definitely a difficult thing to get right! And while I'm really happy with the response it's had thus far, and I'm proud of what I managed to do with it, I think it could do with refining somehow. But I don't think I'm good enough of a writer to figure out how.
@geck0 When you get to that point, it's endless yeah :) Or in other words, it *is* the end :)
@Lyxil you really found pretty much everything! Wasn't expecting anyone to notice quite ALL of that!
