LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Among the trees by LooksLikeSomething 2017-12-05T10:26:02Z

Dear developer, you forgot to include UnityPlayer.dll in you uploaded game. I could play the WebGL version though. Those spheres in my opinion consist of way too much vertices, and the game ran with like 20 fps on my laptop.

Now, critics aside I like the concept. With a little bit of polish in the controls, and optimization, it could be a really good game, but I'd rather play it on my phone with gyro controls.

Traffic Trouble by lekiy 2017-12-06T20:36:12Z

I found the puzzles great(even though I only played the earlier ones), the graphics are stylish, however, the sounds are very loud and in the menu can be very distracting(especially if multiple cars hit at the same time). I liked it!

Catastrophic Cities by Drauthius 2017-12-05T10:48:21Z

Great entry!

Although you warned me, it is reallly imba :D

Contamination by Lars DK 2017-12-05T10:18:14Z

Pretty good game! The only thing I found a little bit annoying, was that the movement is a bit buggy; if I run into a wall, I can only move in one direction (not the opposite way in diagonal). Also, sometimes my character just randomly stopped.

Proud of my 2379 score :)

Dem Colors by tthe 2017-12-06T16:00:40Z

@rature: I was thinking about the possibility, maybe if I continue the development, I will do so

@olaf666: There is a bonus! Building a red tower on a red tile for example grants that tower a 2x damage bonus.

Dem Colors by tthe 2017-12-06T22:01:51Z

@mathiouza : Yeah, I made some kind of a music for the game, but in the end I didn't like it that much, so I left it out. Also, I wanted to polish the UI instead of a tutorial, because I figured I could write down the instructions needed to play in the submission itself ... Anyway, I did work on fixing these things, but I think that the ratings should be given for the game that was done in the given time, not the fixed updated version ... Thanks for the feedback :)

My Little Corruption by Peter Jonsson 2017-12-06T20:23:30Z

Great job! I love the art style, the music and the gameplay! The controls are a bit too sensitive for me but that's a minor complaint. I didn't quite understand the absorbtion of the corruption but the game is enjoyable and yet challanging. I also like the added settings menu(even though the master volume seemingly doesn't work).

You can't have too many cats by mollekake 2017-12-06T12:30:48Z

It was fun, the music is great, however I would have liked if you made your own engine(Made in GameMaker Studio). I like the theme overall, however I miss replayability. Also, I didn't see the places that killed cats at first, an indication would have helped. I liked the game overall.

Passenger Peril by Julester 2017-12-06T12:20:13Z

I liked it. The AI is pretty basic though, people get stuck in each other and make huge piles. I liked the air pirates . Graphically, I liked the design overall, there are many small things that I can see work was put into(teddy bear, purses, etc.). However, I felt that the controls were unresponsive, people didnt't fly where I meant them to, and the game became repetitive very quickly. The soundtrack is good, however it's very short and repetitive aswell. Overall, the game is fun. If a little extra was added(previously mentioned agressive passengers or more ships to choose from) it could make a nice title.

Yuri's Planties by yuripiano 2017-12-05T10:53:59Z

Dead simple ... I like it. If you do limit yourself to 4 rocks, it's a pretty good puzzle / strategy game :)

Tiny Empires by Jack Maxwell 2017-12-05T12:31:03Z

I bet Catan was a source of inspiration for this game :)

Anyway, I liked it. I think you should draw the cost information onto the building button, instead of a different info popup, because I couldn't remember the costs of the building, and had to constantly switch between the info popups, and the shop popup (because I had tons of livestock to sell).

Also, you can move troops multiple times, but doing so will advance the round. I think you should instead not let the troops to be moved two times, and leave the turn ending to the player.

Gladiator Monsters by BenBurgh 2017-12-05T11:56:28Z

11 rounds is my max, great concept. Had fun playing it :)

Warehouse Worker by Rixium 2017-12-05T12:02:10Z

A pretty good concept, with an implementation with a few minor flaws.

* I found it extremely annoying, that the screen was constantly shaking, and that the conveyor belts were glitching around * If an item is coming on the belt, and in front of the belt i accidently dropped an item, it is pretty random which item you will pick up. Also, if you want to put it back you lose score.

I liked the graphics though, and the game run smoothly, which is a plus :)

Conservation Island by kix334 2017-12-05T12:39:44Z

I had a hard time figuring out where to click with the sledge hammer, it seemed random whether I did hit a bunny, or I didn't.

Anyway, the absurdity of this idea is a plus! :)

StarBounce by Azathothep 2017-12-06T12:59:12Z

The idea is good, but the execution could be better. The bullets bounce off the wall unreliably. This may be the fault of the engine, but it's still a mistake. Some bullets disappear, some bounce off in totally random directions. I like the music, it adds a nice atmosphere to the game. Loading times are unforgivably long. There should be no time between areas. The text boxes appear every time and the enter button is too far away to reach mid-combat. They also don't seem to disappear normally. This is very annoying when the same map is being played for the third time. The game is very punishing(maybe a bit too punishing).

LD44 — Your life is currency

ChemisTree by tthe 2019-05-01T17:28:59Z

Wow, I really didn't think that people would actually like the game, because I felt during the whole development, that it makes sense to us, but won't make sense to others. Anyway, I got really bumped by all of your feedback, and yes, ALL things that you mentioned as "should've" are actually on the backlog, but we didn't have time for them :( Anyway, I will probably try to fix a few things, improve the user experience a bit, and upload a "Post-deadline Jar", if anyone's interested in it.

Thanks again everybody :)

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Stolen Time by loginaut 2021-04-28T19:53:30Z

After running around for a bit I figured out a way to get out, found some secondary walls, got a way through them and finally fell of the map. Anyway, animations are great, assets are cool, and you also have some dialog mechanics working, so I would say it's complete on the technical side of things, I just wish I was motivated more to explore the challenges! I also liked the music.

Dr. Deeper by tthe 2021-04-27T07:52:51Z

I am trying to update the download links, but it seems impossible at this time ... Here are some alternative download links if you prefer direct ones. I also made an upload with an included JRE, if you do not know what Java you have installed, you should use this one:

* JAR: https://storage.googleapis.com/ludum-dare-games/ludum-dare-48/ld48-v1.0.jar * JRE+JAR: https://storage.googleapis.com/ludum-dare-games/ludum-dare-48/ld48-v1.1.zip

Dr. Deeper by tthe 2021-04-30T18:36:55Z

@melon-spirit Hi, I used libGDX to program the entire game, which in turn uses LWJGL 2. We love LWJGL though, I have used it for many projects :)

Subterrene by SamarthMP5002 2021-04-27T07:59:50Z

Everything worked, I think this is a polished game. Maybe you could add some variety in the terrain, like patches of stone as you get deeper, and your drill could be broken by the stone. Would be interesting to see some more! :)

LD52 — Harvest

Journey of the flowers by tthe 2023-01-09T20:40:03Z

@soonthespoon Hey man, thanks for the feedback. We have updated the tutorial of the game with a single line, that clarifies this misunderstanding. You can step on some of the nicely decorated tiles, and this will reveal the "trap tiles" in red. Stepping on the hidden trap tile will result in the player dying.

Journey of the flowers by tthe 2023-01-09T21:03:28Z

@pedro-d-almeida thanks for the feedback! Believe me, we had a few rage quits while trying to create the tutorial, balancing even these simple mechanics really turned out to be a challenge. Should've spent a little bit more time on that, lesson learned :)

LD55 — Summoning

Riot in Hell by tthe 2024-04-17T07:54:30Z

@k-toll Thank you for your insightful feedback, we haven't even thought of a boss mechanic, but it definitelly goes on the list :D Sound-wise, we quickly scratched it so we can focus on gameplay, but yeah, it's just completely missing.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

FPTA Deluxe by dankar 2018-04-24T07:59:06Z

I think something is broken with the link, the game has been stuck saying `Loading game for the first time...` for at least a minute now. Tried on both the newest chrome and firefox.

FPTA Deluxe by dankar 2018-04-24T08:56:29Z

Okay, now I could play it :)

For some reason, option 1 was out of screen for the whole time, but I still could complete the game :)

Nice entry overall, I really liked the graphics (I love this minimal art style).

TinyWorlds by dikkop 2018-04-24T18:45:31Z

It's a really fun game! I liked the art style, I liked the simple but more than enough controls, I liked the gameplay. The music is fitting and gives the game a very pleasant atmosphere. Honestly one of the best games I've seen so far. Keep up the good work :)

Stranded - LD 41 Game by Corvin 2018-04-24T08:34:01Z

Nice entry!

Few things I noticed:

* The sokoban part is a bit buggy, if you grab one of the pieces, and flick the mouse really fast, you can drag the stones through other stones / obstacles * The controls were a bit weird * An indication of where the next puzzle is would've been nice.

Anyway, I really liked the music, and the 3D graphics were good too! Nice job :)

Asteroids Rebirth by ItzJoJo 2018-04-24T08:01:43Z

Sorry, I won't play games that come with an installer ... please consider switching engines, or creating a portable version that is playable without installing a thing.

Lazors by tthe 2018-04-24T08:35:42Z

@bobismijnnaam Thanks for the feedback! The spawn points are actually fixed, but upon spawning a random one is chosen, maybe it could use some polishing so that enemies spawn outside of your line of sight. I though about giving the player option to move map objects around, but didn't have time to implement it.

The Iron Front by Darylsteak 2018-04-24T09:08:10Z

Hi there,

I really wanted to play with your game, I like these kinds of games, but there is just simple not enough information to be able to play it.

* First of all, commands are not case insensitive, this is a huge mistake in my opinion. * I've been sitting here trying to give commands to my troops, but no matter what I enter as the coordinates of my troops, it doesn't accept it. What is the correct syntax of coordinates ? * It would've been nice to use a monospace font for the terminal-like window, it's really bad for the eye to observe the map, but without equal width and height characters * I think you should also log the player's input into the window.

Tag me if you decide to fix these things, as I believe it's a fun concept, but in its current state, it is unplayable :(

Point-defense Hell by PolyHatSteve 2018-04-24T07:54:02Z

For a compo game, it's not that bad. There were a few things that annoyed me:

* The collision detection between the player and the enemy bullets is really bad, it seems as if the player had a point collider at the center, and bullets, that seem like they should hit just pass straight through * I generally don't like Unity and Unreal for small games, as their performance overhead is really significant compared to a lower level engine, like libGDX, therefore the game runs much slower. I like playing with 60+ FPS, but the game just didn't want to go above 45 on my laptop * I got a Game Over screen, and the game went unresponsive. You should've at least create a `Restart` button, because now if I wanted to play more, I would have to exit the game, and open it again.

You Have My Word by BauBau 2018-04-24T18:31:59Z

Well, I like the idea but have a couple of things I would like added:

-The E button feels really weird with WASD controls, maybe arrow movement or an alternative(space or mouseclick) pick up letter button

-Once all the letters are picked up, the round should end. There is no reason to wait that other 10-30 sec out after the map is completed. At first it is quite confusing.

-A pause button could be useful (or if TAB is pressed the word is shown)

Overall I like the style and the idea is great aswell!

Crystal Wars by Nico H. 2018-04-24T08:45:10Z

Solid entry. Sure, it smells a bit funny, but overall, I think the atmosphere is great. I especially liked the map design.

One thing to note is that if you make an FPS game, you should include support to configure mouse sensitivity, I had to lower my mouse's DPI to the ground to be able to play :D

GardenTowerDefence by November 2018-04-24T08:10:28Z

At first I was like WTF, it took me a while to figure out the controls. Some improvements you could make:

* Make the player be able to move the camera with `WASD` or arrow keys * Make a tile selection preview under the mouse, it was hard to figure out what is clickable on the screen, and what isn't * The `Info` part could be made more verbose, for example it took me like 2 minutes to figure out that I had to click the pugs in the fence-box-thing to earn gold. * Knowing nothing about which tower does what, the first I built was a farm instead of an actual attacking tower, and the game was over in about a minute.

I have to say I'm impressed with the graphics, the 3D animations are really good.

The musics / sounds fit well too.

Good job guys!
