Nice game, but you should add more "juice" to reward the player upon killing monsters :) camera shaking, particles, things like that!

Your game Contamination is a really cool idea and really puts the theme of "The more you have, the worse it is", into a really cool game. I enjoyed the game a lot and the idea of having to strategically not kill enemies in order to stop over spawning is a cool concept.
Pros: - The concept was really cool - The randomly generated map and the many different options is a nice touch Cons: - The movement was a bit too fast for my liking (Or I may just be weird)
Overall this was a really nice game and you should be proud of what you achieved. :)
Pretty good game! The only thing I found a little bit annoying, was that the movement is a bit buggy; if I run into a wall, I can only move in one direction (not the opposite way in diagonal). Also, sometimes my character just randomly stopped.
Proud of my 2379 score :)
Very good, I just wish I did not have to keep clicking to shoot. My maximum score was 4142. Change the art further, it would be nice to have it finalized.
Love the soundtrack (the sfx not that much compared to the music). Game plays well and is quit fun. gj.
I love the music! Would have liked to have auto-fire though. My finger got a bit tired after a while :)
Hey guys, quite a nice entry there. I had fun playing the game, map generation is quite cool and I like the fact you can choose a pattern.
Music really fits well with the game and same goes for sfx (aside from bullet one that really annoyed me)
Graphics are pretty good too ingame, maybe a bit too sad and simplistic in the menus but that's a game jam so that's good !
Just one thing you should improve about the controls that really bothered me, when I'm stuck next to a wall while pressing bottom (for example), I need to release bottom and then press right or left to move, otherwise, if I press right/left but bottom is pressed, my character won't move. So when you're in a hurry and want to pass through a tiny passage, you most of the time get stuck and lost precious time :(
Overall, it's a good entry, good job guys !
I liked the music and the gameplay was solid. Maybe some control improovements would be nice. Like I always sticked to walls when holding 2 movement buttons. Also since you have to basically shoot all the time, it would be good to let the player shoot automatically by holding the button. Otherwise a quite good entry. Good Job!
@Ynk Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the suggestion. Sometimes you can get hundreds of enemies on the screen at once so it's definitely a trade-off with things like particle effects, especially on a mobile browser and with the complex pathfinding all of these hundreds of units need to do. Didn't want too much lag so we settled for a simple death animation for each character.
@Emery Thank you so much for saying that because in our team some wanted a faster pace, some a slower one ... these things are so hard to make everyone happy with. I'm glad you liked the concept and enjoyed the options.
@tthe I'm glad you enjoyed it and congrats on your score. Feel free to submit it to our high score table! Thank you for the feedback - I've also noticed that mashing keys too fast can sometimes seem to stop the character in some situations.
@mateusculpo Well done with the score and I hope you had fun. I'm very glad to have worked with an actual artist this time around - as my previous LD submission would indicate, I'm still practicing lol. Sorry for any RSI you may have from playing this game. I've played it more than anyone and my fingers are shattered. Noted for next time - this is not a genre I personally play much so I had to delegate most of the design away to my team.
@backyard-dev Awesome, I'm so happy you had fun! I wrote a concept track for this but then our musician blew my effort out of the water. Then he came up with an even better one. All three tracks were different musical styles so you can sort of see what our sound effects person was up against. The game was supposed to be arcade-apocalyptic-like and kinda became progressively more western.
@gustavhehehe Mine is still tired now! Our musician will be happy to hear you loved the music. Will definitely remember the suggestion for next time.
@masadow Happy you had fun - that's my priority :) ! Our team had a brief debate on that bullet sound effect. Our main designer wanted more of a pew-pew sound so that's what we went with. IDK. We used to have a wall-hit sound effect that was similar but louder. I replaced that with the current noise effect you hear near the end of the jam. Glad you like the graphics. I did most of the map stuff and our main artist did the characters / menu background. Would you believe I spent almost 5 hours trying to make a fancy WebGL background for the menu? Sadly it was too bugged to include. Thanks for the controls feedback - as I've said to others this genre isn't really one I know well so I'm totally reliant on your feedback on that.
@gamequester I'm glad you liked the music, and super glad you liked the gameplay. If a game is fun, well, that's the whole point of games! Controls seem to be a bit of a theme in the comments - am definitely taking that one onboard. Thanks for your constructive suggestions, much appreciated.
I'm so sad I didn't enter my highscore when I was at school. 21 000 points :(
Cool game! The shooting felt nice and rewarding, though you did have to click a lot. The music was really cool, set the mood nicely. I'm always a fan of a good sci fi western theme.
Great game, nice map randomisation and I loved the animations. I didn't seem to get any metal drops at all in survival mode though (despite killing a lot of mutants!), which was a shame after getting a taste of the powers in the tutorial. But otherwise, good stuff!
Cool game! Nice gradual tutorial, decent difficulty curve. Two things that really annoyed me were that if you moved diagonally into a wall, you would stop moving, instead of moving along the wall. The other was that occasionally I would get 'stuck' and could not move in one direction and had to repress the key to move again.
If you were to iron those out you got a solid base of a 2d shooter game, with a nice twist with deployable turrets.
Cool game! The tutorial is very useful to know what metal is for. I would have seen a little reminder in game, included in the interface.
Interesting spin, i mean it still requires a bit of work especially with collisions of the player with the walls, you don't exactly slide smoothly also forcing to click all the time is a bit tiring.
But overall cool game!
I had a really solid time with this game. It was a lot of fun, and very hectic and enjoyable. The gameplay was simple and effective, and whilst the graphics did leave something to be desired, they were very clear, which was needed in the more hectic parts of the game. I liked to difficulty rise but I felt it was a bit slow to start, then it ramped up really quickly. Not a problem as such, just a minor comment. I really enjoyed the powers, however I felt they got too pricey too quickly as well, but that is something that just comes with time and polish. My only other problem with this otherwise really fun game is that it absolutely killed my fps, especially in the fallout 250+ zone. This may be a comment on my crappy laptop however. Overall this was a really fun game with loads of variety, I was so suprised and pleased by just how much it offered me, and with a bit more polish this would be absolutely fantastic, great job.
I'm a sucker for some sawing space fiddle.. so good job on the audio (the sound effects, also good job). Top down shooters are always in fashion, and procedural content is certainly a plus (Kind of a weird comment here: the menu-ing felt really solid... nice menus!).
* audio quickly gave me a headache * gun didn't seem to have a cool-down other then how fast you could click :( * gun didn't keep firing when the button was down * no idea what metal did, tutorial didn't explain.
The music really gets the tone and mood exactly right - really makes me feel like I'm in a Mad Max-esque wasteland fight. Enjoyed the game, but found that it would just spawn a lot of normal enemies, but give me no incentive to create/kill more -- getting additional metal just helps against extra enemies. Tutorial was nice and clear. Well done!
I ended up playing for longer than I expected. A good sign that the gameplay was on point. Lots that needs refining but the potential is there. I ended up getting bored and that is what stopped me in the end. I needed a big boss or something.
Pretty cool game!
What I liked: - Tutorial. A bit too long but well done. - Various types of enemies - Super POWAH!! - Post-apocalyptic theme was well done. Really, loved it.
What I think could be improved: - Movement. Switching too fast from A->D make the character stuck still for a second. Moving diagonally into a wall make the player stop (people are acquainted with "sliding" along the wall in the non-blocked direction) - Clicking hell: my finger hurts~~ can't it be hold-to-fire? - Performance: game run really slow after a while (probably path finding?) - Turret versus Plasma: I think the plasma should be cheaper/spammable to add variety to the gameplay. Right now it takes forever to get enough metal to do anything.
