LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Lapped by somethinboutgames 2017-12-06T11:53:03Z

I like the way you treated the theme : the enemy is yourself,so the more laps you have to more enemies you got.

Graphics are pretty neat , simple and cool , the grey trail is very useful to know where "you" will pass. I like the feeling of the race but commands are...meh. How does it work ? You have to hold the forward button to drive ? or simply push it to accelerate ?

Unfortunatly i cannot hear audio :(

Save your gold by Minemes 2017-12-11T18:22:58Z

Very fun game ! I think it would have been a little better if you had added something like buying ground squares, because I was able to place a crazy amount of goldmine at some spot anywhere in the map, and then generate easy money ^^ otherwise I really enjoyed myself !

For Better or For Worse by valandre 2017-12-06T17:53:46Z

Great story , great graphics , great sound !

But i found some part hard imo

HUDdled by Pox 2017-12-05T21:42:41Z

This game has neat graphics and unexcepted good and original gameplay base on key strike skill. However the game become quickly too hard and music loop become annoying (it's cool at the begin , but when you hear it 300 times... a bit too loud maybe)

Cloak and Dagger by PTSnoop 2017-12-08T11:24:45Z

Hum...where is the executable file (using Windows) ? i don't know how to launch your game

Cybird by AsSoonAsImpossible 2017-12-06T17:40:07Z

Damn your game is so beautiful ! The music is also pretty good ! it remind me Tron

However the game is very hard because files are not big enough and the bird is hard to correctly handle. Imo the voice is not very useful and break the cyberpunk ambiance.

I'm really interested to know how did you do make this style (did you make a shader ?)

Drunk Santa by UrsiGames 2017-12-11T17:46:10Z

Well done dude ! That's a pretty fun game, and graphics and effects are impressive, good job :)

Drift Punk by CremaGames 2017-12-07T18:35:09Z

Best graphics of this LD ! Seriously the graphics are so cool, from the welcome screen to the game over screen

Audio is also pretty good and...did you really make an online ladderboard ? damn XD

But something spoil the game. Maybe because i'm a bad driver but i found this very not contralable even at the very begin.

Games: Behind The Scenes by Gatox 2017-12-11T18:44:42Z

Very nice "meta" game ! The character is a little too slow for me, but I really enjoyed all the little details you placed in the game. Maybe you should have spend less time modelizing the "other" games, which is really great but we don't spend much time in them (only drop the bug, and we don't have time to appreciate the cool-looking "other" game), or find a mechanic that allows us to stay a little more on them. Otherwise, congratulations, that's impressive, original and I really had fun :)

BIGHEAD by Paulo Brunassi 2017-12-08T19:25:42Z

Congrats guy, I really enjoyed myself during the few minutes of play ! Graphics are nice and coherent, and the head slide is just awesome xD

Reversed Negativity by RNGSilvercraft 2017-12-06T14:44:18Z

Music seems to be good , but unfortunatly i couldnt hear it :(

However the theme is well respected and the idea is good but the game become quickly boring as it's always the same thing : color, wait, color, next level.. Maybe you should add homing enemies or random powerups, and nothing warning you about color swap.

The game got some annoying bug too : some tiles are not painted by holding Z and we take damage when we were painting during swap

Pigeon by RIBOUT Horace 2017-12-07T21:29:15Z

I like this game ! calm and simple to play

Speedrun by Persikan 2017-12-06T12:20:02Z

This game is simple and cool , i like the fact level is random and endless. Graphic are cool even if the blob moving has...strange animation :( Also the fact only one key is required to play is cool

However : - The game is a little bit too hard , even at the begin - The countdown is REALLY annoying and spoil the whole game because it's too long : imo in a Try & Die game you don't have to make wait the player - I couldnt test sound (if you had it)

Curling Cubes by Page West 2017-12-05T15:15:23Z

Your game is simple but great , it could be a good multiplayer game if you added something like random wall or power up to make it more interesting.

But overall you have to fix controls , they are very frustating.

SomeFin In The Way by SvenFrankson 2017-12-08T11:48:44Z

This game is beautiful and the gameplay is very cool and simple , it can be a very nice flash game if you improved it a bit !

But...i don't see how this game is related to the theme :(

Stranded alone by BluesyPompanno 2017-12-08T19:18:56Z

Pretty nice game ! Just a few things : the goal is not very clear at the beginning, I think you should have added a small visual feedback when you hit a crystal because I didn't thought I needed to destroy them. Complete the game is really too long, it feels like an artificially length. And please, the music is toooooo repetitive, for a game of this length ! :-: Otherwise there is really nice graphics ! And in general the game is fun :)

Friends.OS by Rob White 2017-12-07T18:22:06Z

I like the computer style and the way you treat the theme is very funny (and a bit satirical). However the game is a little bit too small and... i didnt't understand how you take a selfie even after several try

Phool by ciaccodavide 2017-12-08T11:41:28Z

Cool and simple game (gameplay and graphics), it remind me Nuclear Throne where you can make your own playstayle (that's cool !) but i don't understand why you got upgrade at hit and why i didn't have upgrade at the begin of my first game (but after i did). Death can also be super frsustrating as these ball got a super-rapid dash (i died by an offscreen ball last time) and these ones are also a bit too tanky : it's hard to kill a single one with this accuracy so imagine 30...

Ignite by Scurf 2017-12-06T18:11:17Z

This game is soooooooo beautiful ! short puzzle are pretty cool (but a bit repetitive :s) and music is very relaxing.

But something is wrong : how the game is related to the theme ?

Voila :)

OverPowered by Gomango999 2017-12-05T15:01:47Z

I like :

- Pixel graphics are pretty neat (including animations) , it's really nice to see. - Gameplay is simple but still great : we can quickly understand how the game work so we don't have to spend a lots of time to learn - The level design is also well made , the difficulty scaling is great and every enemies is added one by one with a level showing how the it work, allowing to add layers of challenge - The little tutorial at the begin , simple but neat

I don't like :

- The roll seems to be useless : you are not invincible during roll and you are not moving when you do it. - No recovery time : when a group of ennemies start to hit you...it's over - Some collision troubles (especially with wizards) - The game is a bit too long and repetitive : i don't even know if there is a end

Anyway i think you games is very good even if you can improve it (but it's normal : it's a LD)

Lead Arrow by Pile of Leaves 2017-12-05T15:34:48Z

My favorite game of this jam so far !

I like these modern graphics and the way enemy triangles move making them hard to hit them with quick aim.

The idea of 2 différents attack which make earn and spend triangles is pretty cool , however it's not very intuitive for a beginner

StarBounce by Azathothep 2017-12-06T09:44:16Z

Controls were for AZERTY keyboard, we changed them for QWERTY. Thanks for the feedback ! :)

StarBounce by Azathothep 2017-12-11T11:19:42Z

@csanyk You can modify the controls for Azerty or Qwerty keyboard in the input window when you launch the game :)

LD42 — Running out of space

No Vacancy by UnBonJusDeFruits 2018-08-15T15:34:18Z

Congratulations for this game, I had fun playing it and the plot is very funny xD I really liked the graphics and the overall mood, it's really polished !

I found the gameplay simple and effective, but I personally would have added more complexity in finding the vice of each character (it reminds me a little bit The Shrouded Isle); but for a Game Jam it's already a work very well done :) Bravo !

Cluttered Mind by HAUO 2018-08-15T10:01:33Z

Well, congratulations and thank you for this very unique experience ! I really loved it, we (sadly) don't see enough of these kind of experiences, which take very effectively the interactive side of games to create something new. I'm sure you could port it for mobile and extend the experience a little bit longer :)

The only critique I could make would be on the music : she's simple and fits well the mood but lacks variety (! not complexity), and could even more enhance the special feeling of the game with some other kinds of sounds (I know it's not very precise but it's always hard to talk about the music in writings).

Anyway, I hope I'll see more games like this !

Mindlapse by Vulture_42 2018-08-15T10:18:27Z

@judy-kim Thanks !

@hauo Thank you for this very precise feedback ! I wanted to keep the gameplay simple, as long as the player kept saying to himself "I don't have enough space !".

I understand the issue you describe, I added this feature to solve a balance issue : without the ability to repair rooms, players could lose very easily and it would be very frustrating (I didn't want to slow the pace of the game by making rooms take more time to break). However, there is multiple way to solve this issue and as you said it brings other problems I didn't thought about, thanks for pointing it out ! :)

LD46 — Keep it alive

Oh, the Connection! by Igor KinGamer 2020-04-26T10:06:05Z

Very fun game, congrats! Pretty addictive, the pitch is quite simple but you managed to build some deep puzzles that requires careful thinking. I think one direction to improve the game would be on feedbacks, for example hovering your mouse to a location could show you if the selected server will be connected or not (it would help smoothen the game's flow). The game should also be played only with the mouse, by selecting the next position imo. But overall, very good job!!

Cities Of Wonder by Franklins Ghost 2020-04-29T10:23:07Z

Awesome graphics, I really enjoyed just looking at the dancing guy ^u^ It lacks a bit of challenge though, you should add a little someting (even something like a "Simon" memory mechanic could add a lot). But overall it's a very nice game fo a jam!

The Olympic Flame: 2420 by Local Minimum 2020-04-25T10:55:22Z

Very fun game, congratulations! Though I would suggest infinite cards instead of a finite number of them, it's already a hard game ^^ But it's a very exciting experience, and the olympic flame is a nice touch to the theme. Good job!

Keep it Live by TeamMonumental 2020-04-27T12:28:16Z

Cool concept, nice graphics, good execution! Just a bit too hard. Even if there is instructions on what has to be banned, I struggled at banning the right things (but that's maybe because I'm not a native english speaker). Good job!

HARD IMPACT by Nek 2020-04-28T12:09:23Z

Nice game with cool esthetic. The feeling of moving an exploding cubes is really satisfying! However, the "box" shape of the layout isn't great. You have to turn a lot and frequently bounce on walls, which makes us slow down every few seconds and breaks the flow of the game. I think a more classic layout where you just have to go straight ahead (still with some curves, obstacles and the goal of exploding cubes) would have been better. But it's still a good entry for a jam, congrats!

Magnetic Angel by damdoshi 2020-04-25T10:41:16Z

I love the game pitch, very well done in such a short time! A few feedbacks: I found rotating the shield with the mouse wheel was really hard (making it follow the mouse position instead would have been more intuitive imo), and seeing your path in advance would help to plan ahead. Other than that, good job!

LD Jam 46 Keep It Alive by brandann 2020-04-26T13:07:48Z

Nice game, I really liked the little musical pattern playing at the end of each room x) It's is a bit hard (always better to make it easier than you think), but it's a good job for a jam game!

The Most Simple Farm by RIBOUT Horace 2020-04-27T09:44:08Z

I'm really impressed of what you've managed to do in only 3 hours! The gameplay is fun enough, and... I love dat chicken xD It just lacks some sounds, and maybe a way to incentivize the player to put seeds on the right side (which I didn't do the first time, I had to read the controls to understand you could make seeds grow). But for a game made in such a short time, I take off my hat one more time, Horace! :tophat:

2 Souls Together by Lestat 2020-04-26T12:37:24Z

Cute game, love the shader! The gameplay is simple but good enough for me, it's only a bit too long. I also don't really understand the twist... won't spoil here, but I don't really get "why" the game ends like this (I mean, I understand the "story" but it's not very consistent in a pure design sense imo). Other than that, it's a very good job for a jam game!

Agewalker by Tom Robson 2020-04-25T11:54:54Z

Wow that was a very nice game! Congrats for making it in such a short time, graphics and controls are great! Just a very quick tiny little feedback for the attack: the character can only face left or right so it's a bit tricky to attack enemies from the top or bottom (I mostly had to go to their side to touch them). Also about the HP, the interface isn't really easy to see when you're in the middle of a fight. Other than that, great job! :clap_tone1: :clap_tone1:

Lights On by henriquecanella 2020-04-27T09:59:58Z

Cool game with nice concept and graphics! For some feedbacks, I'd say the controls are a bit weird (won't expand on that, others already talked about it) and the levels lacks a bit of diversity (some other enemies or more puzzle-like layouts would be welcome), but the game isn't very long so we don't really have the time to be annoyed. You've made a very good job!

AA Jumper 2 by Rhiannon 2020-05-01T10:03:07Z

Cool concept but the controls are really tedious. It lacks air control and my character is frequently bouncing on things, so it's very difficult just to move around properly :/ Also just a quick feedback to let you know if you've hit the enemies with your gun would be a nice addition, currently I never know if I shot right. Congrats for making it this far though

Keep the marriage 'alive' by MarcoMing 2020-04-26T12:20:57Z

Cute little game, lacks a bit of clarity (the timer is sometimes too fast to react properly), but that's a very good job for a jam! Succession of mini-games like this are quite hard to make in such a short time, so congrats :)

Magic In C by Ridderfar 2020-04-28T14:28:28Z

Very cool experience, it's nice to see this kind of games here! I'd suggest to add a few things that could be interactable, even if it's just to be occupied while listening to the generated music; because currently I don't see the point of beeing able to move and it's a little bit frustrating (I don't know if my movements really influence something, if it's the case you should add something visual that makes it clear). Anyway, congrats for this entry!

droidathon by acgaudette 2020-04-29T10:30:29Z

Cool game, graphics are reall cool and the feedback when you hit an enemy is great! It just lacks some feedback when you reload the weapon and how much HP you have, but overall it's a good entry. Congrats!

Constance by Oakwarrior 2020-04-28T11:52:07Z

Wow, that's definitely a high-quality entry! Graphics and atmosphere are awesome, and you even added some very cool voice acting! I have a few feedbacks on the gameplay (keep in mind it's minor things for a jam game, only rooms for improvement): - It seems there is only 1 way to access the mansion, which is coming from the right side. It would have been nice to have 2 paths, one from each side, so we can choose which path we take depending on where we are when we take a corpse. - The "enemies" movements are too unpredictable, which makes it very hard to guess when is the right time to move. Some simpler an clearer paths would help to plan our moves ahead. - It feels weird that when enemies spot you they don't move faster than you, even if they are running while you're dragging a corpse. It's not very consistent here. - I'm not an artist, but the arms are balancing weirdly in the moving animation. It seems they are moving twice as fast as the legs (1 entire back-and-forth for the arms while 1 half-cycle for the legs), it should be a 1:1 ratio with each arm following the opposite leg. - Giving informations only with the voices isn't a good thing imo. If you miss what the girl says, there is no other way (or "easy" way) to play it back, so it's a bit frustrating. It also prevents all disabled people with hearing loss to play your game, which isn't cool for them *and* for you. Adding some subtitles would be a cheap and great way to improve on that part :)

Other than that, it's an excellent entry. Congratulations!

The Last Cactus by HomunculusGames 2020-04-26T12:48:09Z

Wow, really impressive game for a jam entry! Graphics and animations are great, it feels very clear and responsive. The polish is impressive, everything is consistent: the font, the camera "zoom" effect, the feedbacks... You really paid great attention to details! Congratulation :clap_tone1: :clap_tone1:

Planet Guardian by icch_howw 2020-04-29T10:15:41Z

Cool game dude, the concept is nice! A bit too difficult though, it rapidly becomes a bit confusing as there is too much asteroids coming at you. It's great you added some UI for the planet on the bottom left, otherwise it would be too disorienting ^^" Congrats!

Squatch Watch: Keeping The Myth Alive by picross 2020-05-01T09:52:58Z

Great game, graphics are really nice and the difficulty curve is good. Just a bit sad that, when you've been spotted, you can just run to the next level to escape (I'd make it more punishing). And sometimes the camera angle hide some enemies (when the ground is high), which makes it difficult to play in these parts. But overall it's a great entry congrats!

DI(e)NO(t) by Thibaud Ligneul 2020-04-27T09:29:18Z

Nice game, very well made! Art and music are great (the little hats are so cute :3), the gameplay is simple but well crafted, I don't feel like it lacks something. I miss a few more diversity for the dangers though, maybe tied to the century (you could avoid some Eiffel Towers spawning from the ground during the modern times ~~and some crashing planes~~, for example). A larger ground could be also a nice addition, it's a bit too small right now imo. But it's still a very good entry for a jam, congratulations!

Dr. Statnil's Dodo Egg by Voidsay 2020-04-27T12:16:25Z

Well done, it's actually quite fun! The controls (too stiff) and the AI (too robotic) need a bit more work to make them really interesting, but the base game is good, and its already a very good job for a jam :clap_tone1:

LD55 — Summoning

The Summoning by psema4 2024-04-21T15:42:04Z

The idea of playing a character that has to go summon creatures is an interesting one, there are a lot to do with it! Maybe each creature could affects the way you interact with the environment, after you've summoned it (allowing you to access new areas for example)? I feel there was a lot that was designed and thought beforehand, maybe without time to actually implementing it, but congratulations for delivering something on such a short time!

Summation by CodeChomper 2024-04-20T13:26:06Z

Very nice concept, I liked the fact you can plan ahead and anticipate how many enemies are coming as soon as you combine 2 dices. I questioned the choice to make the enemy move in real time, and not "enemies move only when you make a move", which would add interesting situations to the "puzzle" aspect of the game (in my opinion) ; multiple times I was caught off guard by them moving independently. Other than that it's a great & very polished entry!

Defense Trap by dimesto52 2024-04-20T12:44:08Z

I played a few enjoyable minutes at this little game, the pacing is a bit hard but overall quite satisfying ! A few feedbacks : - The trap to push slimes into another line is interesting, I think there is something to delve into here - I would add much more life to the traps, but give them much less often. It would put more "weight" in the decision to use them (where do I put it to maximise efficiency ?), currently it's juste "playing all the traps as soon as I get them" (which is nice too, but a bit less interesting imo) - I didn't really understood the difference between the "teeth trap" and the "spiky trap" other than their lifetime. So in my perspective, spiky traps are obviously better than teeth ones.

Congratulations for this entry!

Birb World Tour: Royale by samboyer276 2024-04-21T17:20:05Z

Great game feel on this game! You definitely feel like you're going at huge speed and make very quick direction decisions. The only thing I want to point at this state is clarity on the track : I got lost several times without noticing and took some time to get back onto the main road. Congrats!

Chess Summoner by Azathothep 2024-04-20T13:15:24Z

@jack728 thanks for your feedback, yes the goal isn't clear enough (hitting the opponent directly, when a piece is in range of the opponent character) but we plan to update the game in a few days to improve that part

@stefan-funke thanks a lot! yes there is a bug I didn't see where the opponent cannot make you lose health and he loses 2 when you hit him. I'll patch it soon, thanks for pointing it!

Chess Summoner by Azathothep 2024-04-20T13:48:46Z

@alpalcalad thanks for your feedback, yes there is a bit of balancing to make on the card deck. We plan to update it and add clarity, polish & a few more levels :)

Chess Summoner by Azathothep 2024-04-20T13:50:49Z

@rainbowbl00d I perfectly agree, it clearly lacks sounds & music. It would have required a third teammate to make it haha

Summoner's Dungeon by MaxDrago 2024-04-21T15:34:25Z

An enjoyable experience, I think the concept of summoning creatures depending on the enemies you've defeated is an interesting one! I think it could be further iterated upon, like combining elemnents to make more poweful creatures or reinforcing / healing your creatures by using elements of the same type. Congratulations for this entry!

Dear Gods by tapehead 2024-04-20T13:09:32Z

Congratulations for this entry, it's a very polished game. Art and music are amazing, it really stands out! I liked the idea of not summonning entities but resources, it's quite clever and you could really extend this idea & give various powers to the gods. I didn't totally understood the purpose of the buildings, but it really has potential to become an interesting little management game. Well done!

Otherworldly Mercenary by RENCURELI 2024-04-17T18:42:11Z

First, congrats for making a jam game with no game engine, just pure good old c++. It's certainly not an easy task!

About the game, it took me a few minutes to understand how to play but I enjoyed assigning the mercenaries to the different villages. It lacks clear feedbacks to really understand who I was playing, what was the goal and the consequences of my actions, but could see the "ressource management" king of gameplay the game was heading to !

Oh, and the music is sooo very catchy :D

TechnoMonk RITUAL by Furano 2024-04-21T17:29:04Z

This was a great and very fun experience. I really liked the different minigames to convert monks, no need to add explanations to each of them it was intuitive enough! Congratulation for the level of consistency and polish, this is really strong for a jam entry =)

Sorcerer's Army of Summons by Rendow 2024-04-20T13:57:08Z

Nice entry, I liked the pacing! The camera is a bit too close to the character when I sometimes needed to see further ahead, but this is quite minor. It was also a bit difficult to distinguish between enemies & allies, just a color difference between health bars would be perfect. I would also add other powers like "all allies have increase attacks for 10s" which would add another gameplay depth layer into it, a bit more "strategic". But overall, well done!

The Sorcerat by JamieOK 2024-04-21T16:02:14Z

Very nice entry, I loved the idea & really liked the art direction. The gameplay gave me some nice "aha!" moments, it feels consistent to make something more! Summoning and leading groups of entities to solve puzzle reminded me of Pikmin & games that use the same kind of mechanic, this is very nice. And I definitely want to know, why is this sorcerer invoking cute rats? :D

WORD EXORCIST by MarcoDeevil 2024-04-17T18:24:29Z

Very cool game, I laughed a lot when the twist happened xD There is actually plenty of room for other twists like this one (a letter changing on its own, a difficult word slower than the rest ; you could also have multiple words that form a sentence if you read them in the order you typed them)...

2 simple feedbacks : I would add support for AZERTY keyboard, and being able to "pass" a word (with Tab for example) so when you know what you're not doing great for the current word you can change (but still lose 1 life).

Very good job!

Toys vs Zombies by RollCreators 2024-04-21T15:50:55Z

Nice gameplay, took me a minute to understand who I was controlling but after that, it was quite fun! I've appreciated the different toys gameplay, it adds a nice replay value. For the rhythm part, I think it should rely more heavily on feedbacks (when you miss pressing in rythme for example, something to understand the game saw your input but it wasn't at the right time). It could also be very catchy to add a "bonus" when you've not missed any beat for X times in a row, this could deepens the gameplay a little bit. Congrats for your entry!

The In Between by Adam Gallina 2024-04-21T16:14:09Z

Hahaha, I really liked the idea you're playing the space in-between portals! The gameplay was really nice, controls a bit clunky for my part (having this one tile you have to rotate or mirror with keys, it was taking me a lot of time to have it in the right orientation each time) but it reminded me the same kind of "Mini-metro" gameplay (which is a great reference) where after a while you have to managed some spaghettis designs. Congratulation for your entry!

Final Chants by chybby 2024-04-21T17:09:52Z

Nice entry that definitely sets a mood! I really liked the artstyle, you really nailed something. The exploration gameplay was good, I've become a bit lost quite quickly and missed there wasn't some visual elements that helped me orientate mayself. I was also expecting a bit more pressure put on me by some danger right at the start, which would have crank up the mood further, but other that that it was a nice experience. Congratulations for your game!

Creature Conjurers by Tao Yuanyue 2024-04-20T13:35:56Z

Really liked the vibe of your entry! Just enjoying anticipating and discovering the various creatures, you guys did a great job. The amount of creatures you had to design is impressive, and all of them are really fun to find out. Congratulations!

I think you have an interesting concept, summoning creatures to help you out but being there into the field with them. In my opinion, it could be further extended with the possibility to influence them in some ways after being summoned (switch from attacking enemies to defending you, tell them to focus a specific enemy...). It could create interesting gameplay situations where you have to make strategic decisions while controlling your own avatar. Other than that, it was quite satisfying to summon creatures a watch them destroying the enemies!

Very well done guys, you mix both genres in an interesting way and manage to combine dance and combat by making those two influence each other, that's very nice :) Graphics and audio are very pleasant too, bravo !
