LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Thermonuclear War by panda 2014-12-09T16:38:00

Finally won level 3! I was almost winning, but in the last seconds wrote the wrong command and lost! XD Sure then I won, but it would have been more exciting to won in the last seconds... hahaha
Very nice game ;)

Quintuple Dimension Room by Recursiveanomaly 2014-12-09T17:32:00

Puzzle design isn't trivial, and you have made a great job in 48h! What you have to do isn't obvious. After going here and there, I also found the way. :D

BBQ DAD by Luke Molnar 2014-12-09T20:43:00

274 YEAH, dad of the year! hahaha
Very nice :D

2D Physics Playscape by Brian Mayberry 2014-12-08T13:44:00

A simple concept, not very innovative, but at least you can have some fun and everything combines.

Christmas Crusades by Tridecimal 2014-12-10T18:51:00

Sincerely, I think the graphics are a bit uncomfortable.
"[...] the class on the right beats the class on the left."
Shouldn't it be the opposite? It took me some time to understand how to really play...

Having said that, it's a fun game. :D Not really that hard to remember the weaknesses, since looking at the left circle, the two classes a class beats are the two immediately to its right, so it's just a matter of remembering the order they appear there.

Nice job ^^

Palette by Kalman90Grape 2014-12-11T15:39:00

There is nothing in the "resources\Levels\" directory...?

Nexus Elemental Wae by maurojones 2014-12-27T12:50:00

Awesome! :D

Even if there are no weaknessess, it's still fun to strategically make upgrades and keep an eye on both sides of the battlefield.

Once I got into a more than 15 (or 20) minutes long battle, almost losing or winning several times to finally win!

Loved the "stray bullet" effect when the original target is already dead. hehe :)

Cardinal Attack by Insality 2014-12-13T13:39:00

Nice game, really liked the difficulty (and the game itself), and how you can use the flip to train your reflexes and skills: escape while you can, and when you get trapped, just flip :D (of course, aside from when you MUST use it...)
Well, cardinalo defetus, good job! :)

BombardeAlien by Igor KinGamer 2014-12-08T03:11:00

BUG FIX: A mistake in a variable name I had corrected but was still there somehow...

BombardeAlien by Igor KinGamer 2014-12-08T14:55:00

@joppiesaus Done! Sorry, I thought of Dropbox, but I always used 4shared and yesterday was in a hurry...

BombardeAlien by Igor KinGamer 2014-12-08T20:36:00

Thanks ^^
It's harder than I wanted, I was planning a mechanism to stop between the levels and heal the ship... But I'm glad it's fun. :)

BombardeAlien by Igor KinGamer 2014-12-10T20:16:00

Thanks for the feedback :)
I liked the fullscreen idea. Since I intend to continue making the game, I think I will do that :D

Remote Control by Louisload 2014-12-28T16:41:00

Loved the end! P-E-R-F-E-C-T. hahaha :)

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Cooper 32 vs. Doctor Dynamo by rnlf 2015-04-25T15:22:00

Cool! It was great to spend half an hour (and a lot of lives) to beat it (the original, didn't play the post compo). The mood when getting out was very nice, the music fitted very well. It isn't for casual players hehe, but I liked it this way.

Very well done :)

Decrepit Lord of Charge by HolyBlackCat 2015-05-10T14:03:00

Unfortunately, I can't run it... On 2 notebooks (Windows 7 and 8), the same error:
> OpenGL 3.3 (compatibility profile) context init failed.
> 1. Update your videocard driver [note: I tried it but it didn't help]
> 2. Force your driver to use best available videocard for this application. If it still complains about your OpenGL, then your videocard is probably too old for this program. [note: x_x]

Ad Libitum by Igor KinGamer 2015-04-21T17:05:00

@sebasRez Unfortunately, I didn't have time to even think about putting labels or something on the keys :( But thanks for playing!

If you're talking about the keyboard <-> piano mapping, (Z, X, C, V, B, N, M, comma) are the white keys and (S, D, G, H, J), the black ones, according to their position.

But if you're talking about the keys' names, C = do (first key to the left), D = re, E = mi, F = fa, G = sol, A = la, B = si.

Ad Libitum by Igor KinGamer 2015-04-27T14:37:00

@Lo-X It's probably because I used MIDIs. I will change that (but I can't assure it'll work) and the keybinding to one that satisfies more keyboard layouts, and post it when I have time (probably tonight).

@SloZigec There's a hint in the description, if that helps.

Ad Libitum by Igor KinGamer 2015-04-27T14:38:00

And thanks everybody for the comments ^^

Ad Libitum by Igor KinGamer 2015-04-29T02:15:00

Within 24h, less time is no time :P
In fact, the different levels are all defined in 22 lines of switches that sum up to 7 (one redundant/unnecessary) assignments (valor = ...;) and a lot of indentation. Making the right notes/intervals appear in the robots took more time. :S

Here are the differences, should anyone be wondering:
Very Easy: Only white keys | Easy: All keys | Medium: Also intervals (M2, M3, P4, P5) | Hard: All intervals | Very Hard: Same as Hard, but in higher difficulties robots have more lives (badly implemented though).

And I have made it so the time interval between new robots coming would be 1~3 seconds, but now, looking at the code, I see why they come so close toghether (until now I didn't notice it wasn't what I supposedly did). Let's fix that... tomorrow...

LD39 — Running out of Power

Tax Rebel by LeReveur 2017-08-19T21:39:24Z

One of the funniest entries I've played. It was an immersive challenge to run away from the guards, nice AI :)

PowerDown by PRANEET56 2017-08-11T01:57:17Z

Simple but fun. Little spikes were a nice touch  Load spawnpoint saved me when I got stuck into the wall. In the first place where wall jump was needed I managed to pass but didn't know how. In the second place (where it was much more necessary) I figured it out, but it only works with walls at your right side.

I didn't think jumping with up arrow was a bad choice, maybe because I play piano. Note taken.

*(BTW, you should opt-out of audio if you didn't make it)*

RagooP! by Igor KinGamer 2017-08-13T19:26:03Z

@gonutz Looks like GM:S doesn't give me this option... And I've read it should work. I've added a ZIP file, please try it, but I don't know if it will work.

ROBOT POWER by Imphenzia 2017-08-18T00:23:59Z

Those clouds... Nice touch, loved it

Blackout by wviper3 2017-08-11T01:17:28Z

Controlling the car was nice. I'd be able to avoid hitting something in the last moments by a whisker. As @krishnasism said, "the drifting is on point", didn't feel out of control.

I don't think last levels were too hard. It was completely fine to me. Just a bit of caution and short key presses.

**Technical notes:**

As said by others, web version has a bug (car starts turning continuously after beating level 1).

When I downloaded the Windows version, the game run like a race (both moving and turning were uncontrollably fast). My note *(Windows 10)* has a NVIDIA GPU. Right clicking the executable gives the possibility to *"Run with graphics processor"* > *"Integrated graphics"*. The game then run at normal speed, even though *"Integrated graphics"* is marked as default.

Battery Box by mrnannings 2017-08-21T22:58:25Z

I think the movement was a little strange, but it really fit with the music.

OxenOut by Dragwa 2017-08-11T01:38:28Z

It's a little weird how you suddenly receive the power-auto-recharging power. But the gun mechanics have great potential. Nice graphics.

Escape! by Damoy 2017-08-11T01:44:45Z

I had fun playing this. At first, I didn't understand exactly how power was decreasing, but it wasn't hard to figure out.

Nice level design, good obstacles, make you stop and plan before moving.

A Mr Mom Quest by JoshBurleson 2017-08-13T20:14:29Z

Very original and realistic indeed. I found myself going forth and back to a task (LD XD) undecided on what to do.

On one hand, I think the messages were a little hard to follow. On the other hand, this agrees with the idea of the game. But I think the messages would be better placed somewhere else on the screen.

Nice job

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Reroute Reboot by OddballDave 2017-12-22T18:45:50Z

Great job! :) Initially I thought there was no way to make progress, but I kept trying until I got it.

Just two things: Looks like you have some rebel packets here... :')

pacrebeldM.png

And I didn't really like that effect (or whatever it's called) around the globe. Maybe in part because I already think people overuse such Unity effects, but it also caused a little momentary confusion, since enemies are identified by their colors and, you know...

vacacor.png

But it was very fun! After a few minutes I noticed there was basically no AI, and I thought it would be easy. Not so much... At least until I had a good idea. Even then, I didn't immediately take over everything. I could see a relation to the theme before I managed to take over another mainframe, but not for long indeed.

With the improvements people have talked about, it would be even better. :)

Edit: I've just discovered I can zoom!

Taser Loser by Igor KinGamer 2017-12-05T23:31:29Z

@cameronjsamuels @papaver Thanks for the comments/suggestions!

Deadline didn't let me implement many ideas. Some things are weird because of that, I couldn't put in the game the context I had in mind.

But I hope I'll be able to do that post-jam. :)

Taser Loser by Igor KinGamer 2017-12-09T01:24:12Z

@gyfis Thanks! I thought about that, but I think I wouldn't be able to make it during this jam since I've never done that before. But now...

Taser Loser by Igor KinGamer 2017-12-24T23:46:12Z

Thanks all for the comments!

@wheffle Strange, that never happened to me. You really can't reach those ladders from above, that was a random strange map idea :P

@trenogre Yeah, no winning condition... *Yet*... :)

Taser Loser by Igor KinGamer 2017-12-27T19:37:20Z

@monika Thanks for playing!

I've seen people complaining about using up arrow [last LD](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/powerdown). Anyway, I do find it more natural to use it, but I don't know what else could be better since there are ladders.

More time would solve many issues. In the bottom right corner there's something that should be a battle arena or so, but it's bad designed and looks like NPCs hardly ever get there...

garbage sort by pragmascript 2017-12-27T18:32:03Z

The graphics and audio create a mood that doesn't really fit the style of the game, but that is nice anyway. :)

I didn't know we still had that by Papaver 2017-12-11T02:09:41Z

Three words:

Fits the theme amazingly, if not perfectly, both regarding the "story" and the gameplay.

Complementing what has been said about the controls, I think you could improve it so when you have a box open and moves (left or right), the box closes automatically -- although you can already just move and store the box anywhere without closing it, so it's more of an aesthetic thing. Also, I find it somewhat cumbersome what you have to do after you find the right item. Seems like it would be better to close or store the empty box automatically.

Overall, everything fits very well. Great job!

Tower of Mana by Pedro Henrique Cesar 2017-12-17T23:50:03Z

Great idea!

Graphics are complete, no placeholder graphics, everything seems to convey the right meaning. Nevertheless, the different elements doesn't fit together very well.

Anyway, the game is great, I won't say much more because I mostly agree with what has already been said. Nice mechanics, I liked how enemies don't (immediately) kill you. I really would like to have more time to spend trying to beat it.

Cumprimentos do Brasil! Parabéns!

Critical Mass by Mads 2017-12-25T23:49:58Z

Hey, you've got a nice idea here!

Feels somewhat like a bullet hell. The way the difficulty increases over time is nice, ie. it gets harder both because of the greater number of things coming in and as a punishment if you touch something. Also, I liked how you can get rid of the planets by a "close call". Maybe it would be nice if something happened when planets touched one another (explode, bounce, ...), giving more room to develop some strategy and avoid them.

I wish I could vote on humor. I found it funny when the screen got crowded with planets (and other things). Also when a planet orbited around the black hole for a second or two.

Great job!

The Lost City of Bhalrim by solluxx 2017-12-17T21:52:53Z

Very nice! I really enjoyed it (+1) :)

**Review (or so)**

The music fits very well. Maybe audio could be better if there were more specific sounds related to the events that happen.

The game is very innovative, combining the main style with the minigame and interesting mechanics that, contrary to what I expected, doesn't leave an unpleasant feeling of lost progress (like being defeated by the last boss of Ninja Gaiden and going back to the very beginning of that merciless level) -- starting the journey all over again.

Regarding the graphics, there are some bits that could be improved, but overall they are already really really good.

Lastly, I think it would be nice to take into account whether you have coins/treasure or not when showing the actions/messages/events. Also, I was able to buy a power pick twice, looks like that wasn't intended.

Great job!

Conversations by hillexed 2017-12-06T18:47:05Z

Hard to understand, but creative. Somehow, I got to the end twice, and it felt good to see people's approval :) Feels like a real situation.

Conversations by hillexed 2017-12-08T01:00:52Z

I remembered this game today when I finally managed to make a puppy understand I didn't want him to bite me anymore, and he just lay down and slept haha

LD42 — Running out of space

Growing Cities by Igor KinGamer 2018-08-16T00:16:32Z

@swift I hope you haven't seen something like this:

erroP.png Don't know why GM:S does that... I ran the web build and it was like that, now I think it's ok. That's what you get when you don't test updates... At least with GM:S :grimacing:

Maybe that was the cause of the bugs you have seen?

I didn't know Triple Town, that could be interesting.

@sankacoffee51 @swift Thanks for your comments!

Growing Cities by Igor KinGamer 2018-08-16T00:41:33Z

@swift I've just found another bug!

When a building falls, it keeps bearing the building above it, even if that building doesn't fall because it's supported by something else. But it doesn't look like that's what you're talking about.

Let's fix that...

Growing Cities by Igor KinGamer 2018-08-18T02:52:11Z

Thanks all!

@balance686 I can't reproduce that audio issue... But I may do that in the next update anyway.

@rob-parker Yeah, I didn't have time to make music for the levels. The title screen has music, tough, you may have missed it if you clicked before it loaded.

@larnin The weight of a building is evenly distributed among buildings supporting it. I admit this looks weird when you place an additional "weak" building below something, I should probably change that. You can discard with right click (this counts as destroying). I added this feature in the last moments, so this info is only "hidden" in the right panel...

Growing Cities by Igor KinGamer 2018-08-22T20:21:31Z

@lunardust Thanks! I'd blame the GUI, it's bad, I myself have a hard time understanding it , you can't even see the next building's name. But surely graphics could be more meaningful.

Growing Cities by Igor KinGamer 2018-09-03T03:02:05Z

@drums @thepiratenun @nowicu @imphenzia Thanks! All your feedback is really appreciated.

@imphenzia If the under house can bear it, yes =D But it looks like when it's possible isn't as clear as it should be.

Parking Spaces by Imphenzia 2018-08-22T19:58:56Z

Very good and simple idea!

You could show the next car somewhere in the GUI and highlight it's "lane" to let the player know where it is. To solve the short-term-behind-long-term issue, the player could pay for a tow truck (then your score should be the money you earned or something else). Or you could enable the tow truck ability after N cars have successfully parked.

Escape the Big Rip by godsboss 2018-08-20T20:11:51Z

As said, the gameplay is very simple, but the animations are good and give the "feel" of a more complete game.

Frosty Fort Fight - [FFF] by AwesomeAlliterationAlliance 2018-08-21T01:57:24Z

Graphics shined when I first entered a level. The music and sounds fit very well. Only the selection effects could be more fleshed out  Echo, chorus, equalization or something.

Indestructible tiles could be nice, or a way to create tiles (maybe automatically). Also, throwing could be fairer -- the enemy throws in any direction, but it's hard for the player to do that. You could make quick key presses change slightly the direction, so you can aim, or constraint the direction in which the enemy throws.

I had fun!

CLAMPRESSOR File Archiver by Deaymon 2018-08-20T23:56:03Z

Very fun and innovative, mixing traditional puzzle elements into a well executed game.

I found what should probably be called a bug, you can "fool" the combo system by clamping a file, then moving around and compressing files of it's type. But maybe that's a feature XD

CLAMPRESSOR File Archiver by Deaymon 2018-08-21T18:19:15Z

@deaymon Actions "use to be" mutually exclusive, so this looks like cheating. But that's nice, increases the number of strategies you can use

Dumpotopia by DjeyCreations 2018-08-16T20:35:56Z

As people have said, regarding graphics and audio, that was a great experience. I only miss sounds that would give more personality to the characters (like whining). Right now I got obstacles that were seemingly impossible to avoid (coming both from above and below)

Getting stuck in a plastic bag was a nice touch

Zero Star by CristiHKJ 2018-08-20T23:23:11Z

Dodging is nice, the background fits well. It doesn't look like you're getting closer to that mother ship though, it would be more "realistic".

Screen Space Defender by Balance686 2018-08-15T22:13:08Z

Nice idea!

I only think there's too much delay when you switch pieces, but maybe that's on purpose.

Dungeon Faller by nicksmaddog 2018-08-17T20:47:25Z

As many said, there are problems with the controls and hitboxes. Maybe your shot should also have a shadow and hit enemies accordingly, it's weird to shoot left/right a little below the enemy (so your hand is at it's height) and hit it.

Anyway, I was able to overcome all that and have a little more fun after I found a bug , when you're close to the bottom wall (in fact, also the top and right ones), your shots don't destroy the floor. Limiting the movement to tiles should solve that.

Vanishing Space by Doctor 2018-08-20T21:00:50Z

Although I haven't played many games yet, this is the best "out of the box" interpretation of the theme I've seen so far.

The game is fun, maybe turning is a little too sensitive, but it's not out of control -- it was fun to try getting it right.

One thing to improve is to make it clear that the top bar is your energy. Also, it would be nice to have some feedback about how close to the void you are, so you don't throw yourself into it because it's too late when it appears.

Space Horror Sokoban by levlaj 2018-09-04T18:52:36Z

Great idea! Fits the theme very well.

People have said most of what I could say. Besides that, I'd say the controls feel a little unresponsive. Sometimes a keypress was ignored / didn't have effect apparently.

File Exchange by AGsilverAG 2018-08-17T21:58:56Z

@him Seems unnecessary 'til you play...

The Climb by Laughertes 2018-08-26T19:32:25Z

Nice concept! That was hard! Took me some time to beat on medium.

Improvements I'd like to see in a post-jam version: - Either use colors that follow some natural order -- I think changing hue *and* lightness would work best -- or show somewhere on the screen the progression of platform colors (or both). - Show which color is the platform you're on. As @ the-triumvirate said, it's hard to know that when covered by other platforms. - Jumping would be more natural and easier clicking the mouse instead of pressing spacebar. Either this or what @ sheldonzs said -- jumping in the direction of your movement.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

It's under control by ludipe 2018-12-28T19:25:54Z

IUC-p.png XD

Interesting, deep meaning  Nice concept of available activities varying according to what happened before.

Sidegrade by ReiMari 2018-12-09T18:09:56Z

Despite that "strategy", it's very well balanced for a LD entry, and very polished. Good job!

NoooooMan by anidealgift 2018-12-28T16:10:51Z

I like how the game isn't bloody. Instead, it's funny.

Comments about gameplay: - Some levels got a bit repetitive, maybe it needs more mechanics or elements. Anyway, it was fun and kept me motivated to beat all levels. - I found many levels easy, but not trivial; that was nice. - Some way to resume normal speed could be a little improvement.

I really liked it. Good job!

Sacrifish (Local multi-player) by Papaver 2018-12-26T18:35:31Z

No second player here... But I really liked the idea and mechanics. The feedback when the black fish steal plankton is on point. Graphics are simple but worked very well.

Although I had to play alone, I felt it lacked ways to mess with the opponent, like @aurel said.

Fireboy by Cristiano T. 2018-12-09T17:24:13Z

The concept is nice, it just needs more polish. The movement was a bit slow.

LD45 — Start with nothing

Zilch by commanderstitch 2019-10-29T00:16:08Z

Very fun! Ridiculous in a hilarious way 🤣

A Brand New World by RealityCheck 2019-10-28T20:30:38Z

Liked it. I think events should have more feedback (like grassland gradually turning into dryland), it's a little hard to follow what's happening.

Spikt by Paulo Brunassi 2019-10-18T18:08:59Z

Cool. The world seemed too big, making you wait for the platforms to come, but that gave a nice mood, specially when falling :scream:  As someone already said, there are some bugs involving the platforms, making you get into the wall etc.

Graphics are nice. Good job!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Oh, the Connection! by Igor KinGamer 2020-04-21T15:34:38Z

@injured Thanks very much for the feedback!

@zollmaniac Thanks! Yeah, I think the mouse controls need to be polished somehow.

Oh, the Connection! by Igor KinGamer 2020-04-22T23:32:40Z

Thanks all for the feedback!

@nablaz I'll try to improve the controls. Glad to hear you want to play more!

@marcusnystrand I made these levels to test the concept and had no time to make easier levels XD

@ditam This kind of feedback is really really helpful! In fact, I feared that gradient would be confusing. I hope your comment help others understand the visuals!

Oh, the Connection! by Igor KinGamer 2020-04-24T12:37:53Z

@elephant Thanks for playing! I'll surely experiment with alternative controls.

Servers are hexagonal objects in a flat field, sorry for not making it clearer! I hope this helps clarify:

Explicação+M.png

Oh, the Connection! by Igor KinGamer 2020-04-28T13:24:45Z

@amkingtrp I'll make sure to solve all these issues! Next version will have totally new visuals.

@dodormeur Didn't think about that before, maybe "dying" just doesn't fit this kind of puzzle.

@slimbun Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to come up with better controls.

@kanda Thanks! I wish I had time to make more levels.

@azathothep Thanks for the suggestions!

@criobite Glad to hear it was functional :D I'll try to make the gameplay clearer, the tutorial should be more comprehensive but I didn't have time.

@chris-ac Thanks! Maybe it would be better to only allow valid movements.

@congusbongus I decided to use a hex grid because I wanted to use circular areas, and a hexagon is more "circular". Also, I wasn't sure this concept would work, and a hex grid seemed more interesting since servers can move in more directions. But a square grid should work just fine, I probably should try it.

Thanks all!

Keep Hope Alive by joe40001 2020-05-04T23:24:10Z

Very interesting concept.

Sometimes it looks like the opportunities/obstacles spawn following a pattern, maybe this should be "more random".

Keeping SNES Alive! by drludos 2020-04-26T15:42:38Z

Nice! I'd only point out that below 10%, it displays two "%" ("9%%", "8%%" etc.).

The last of its kind by puppetmaster 2020-05-05T23:45:19Z

Unfortunately, I can't play, the game window appears then immediately closes (Windows 10).

The last of its kind by puppetmaster 2020-05-06T19:17:28Z

(I have Intel HD Graphics 520 and NVIDIA GeForce 920M. I was able to play running with GeForce.)

Nice game! I really missed at least some sound effects, but the music is great!

I noticed left/right keys take precedence over up/down -- in the first level, this prevented me from dodging obstacles with up/down while holding left/right.

Well polished and funny message. Good job =D

Alien Operation by joemid 2020-05-01T16:29:20Z

Incredible graphics and audio! Really really great style.

At the operating table, I was only able to do something else than killing the alien after reading the comments here. It lacks some indication of progress.

1000 Miles Drive by ashtheevil 2020-04-25T19:39:58Z

Can't believe I did it! hahaha

It's nice how you can dodge cars coming very close to one another. Simple but fun game, well done!

Grove Guardian by chaotikza 2020-05-09T19:49:27Z

Nice game! At first, it was somewhat frustrating because I didn't understand many things (and also didn't read the hints here), but after I got it all, it was fun.

One problem was that I didn't know the size of the world and where the stump was, especially because too much trees had grown. It would be good to have a map or some indication of in which direction the stump is.

It's easy to miss the messages since they disappear after the next movement. I missed where orcs where coming from many times. Also, the number of trees (shown in the stump) isn't always updated.

All that being said, it's a great game! At some point, I noticed the way things changed was familiar... Great use of game of life =D Good job!

Keep the Streak Alive by tompudding 2020-05-12T21:27:45Z

Beat all levels =D

In fact, all levels but the last one are easy if you "cheat":

KtStreakAlive Cheat [-2].png

Anyway, I did play "fairly", and the last level was a great challenge!

There's a little bug in the Introduction level if you put the ball into the cup by moving the mouse instead of shooting.

Amaze-on Game by Abregado 2020-05-01T01:21:14Z

The game should give feedback on your mistakes, either immediately or at the end of the day. It's a little frustrating to just know that you made mistakes, but not what mistakes.

Chocolate: The Fantastical Adventure of the Doggy Walk by Anizian Games 2020-05-05T18:22:16Z

Interesting idea, but the gameplay needs more elements. Maybe attacking, letting the dog wait somewhere so enemies follow the player etc. Also, I discovered at the beginning I could use shift to run and didn't stop using it until the end of the game.

When Chocolate was dying, I was able to "cheat", as the bone respawned each time I left the cave, I thought I would have to go after the ones I didn't get before.

On the other hand, it's interesting to have the dog take objects and be the target of enemies.

ADRENA-LINE by managore 2020-05-13T04:06:18Z

Curiously, my best was 46 haha =D

Air Ball by joh 2020-04-21T21:46:25Z

Too much happening at once! Nice character design, fun game!

I think recruited people should automatically turn to face the ball. I'd suggest left-click to change hit angle as someone said plus right-click to change position instead of the buttons below the person. I would definitely like to play it again with these controls!

Manual Breathing by legavroche 2020-05-10T01:25:23Z

Interesting concept, but it seems the way you breath doesn't really affect your jumps as the description says.

The level of difficulty varies between runs. On the first run, I got a really high score, there were (almost) no pits. Then, on the second run, there were many pits, and little platforms with obstacles.

PostCat by Number6406 2020-04-28T22:00:45Z

Very nice game!

The flower pots are a little hard to spot when you're looking at other traps, maybe they should glow or something.

Don't know if it's intentional, but you can place springs in the air and make the cat double-jump (before the spring falls).

Also, I agree the level should restart right when you click the restart button. The thing I missed the most was being able to choose items with the keyboard – and maybe this will solve the first issue I mentioned, as you won't need to look at the items.

it lives and grows by JulianMH 2020-05-06T23:51:10Z

Pleasant game! Oh, my two startrees almost died while writing this comment XD

It would be nice to have something like costumers asking for specific plants (and sell them at higher prices), and maybe some incentive to challenge yourself to be faster. Also, it could be interesting to have fixed places where you can place the pots instead of anywhere. I also didn't figure out things like how to sell at first.

Shooty Moony by flyingbear 2020-05-09T21:26:10Z

The idea is interesting, but progress was way too slow.

The 3x mechanics don't fit the game very well: you have to wait for new enemies to come from the right direction and get close enough, and hope you're in the right place when that happens. I mostly got it by chance. Spawning more valuable coins when hitting multiple enemies with one shot would fit better for example.

The graphics are nice. I would really like to play it with some tweaks.

Retrospective Sparks by kikiriki367 2020-05-06T23:01:43Z

I almost gave up, but I couldn't help but try once more, then I got it, and it was the last question. (Yes, I had to enable assist mode)

After finishing it, I had to play through again. Wow, that was nice. You managed to make it really interesting, Liked the level of detail and how things fit in the story.

The problems I would point out have already been solved in the new version. Good job!

Guardian of the Seas by UberPuPy 2020-04-28T19:25:22Z

Nice game! Simple and fun. I only miss a way to stop your current movement, having to click and move somewhere else isn't as natural and fluid. As a suggestion, you could add an (maybe expensive) upgrade to speed up interactions (rescue/arrest/unload).

Also, I didn't notice the numbers indicating your cargo before reading the comments here, maybe displaying them next to the boat or at the top of the screen would be better.

Keep it up lad! by Chris AC 2020-04-23T15:24:36Z

Indeed, simple but fun.

Some points: - There's a bug if you jump while holding left or right and keep holding, the character keeps jumping - It would be more interesting if there were other challenges as the score gets high. For example, jumping isn't really necessary now, you can jump just for fun or don't jump at all and "keep it alive". - Keeping the movement after releasing left/right is strange, though I'd suppose that wasn't intentional.

Bump N' Jump by beanslasher 2020-04-26T16:28:17Z

Solid game with nice mechanics.

Some gameplay elements I really liked: - How the character goes up no matter how it touches a platform, "breaking" physics - The acceleration of the platforms prevents the result of clicks from being too predictable, which I think would make the game too easy - The skins made me laugh :D

Suggestions: - A combo system would be cool, giving additional points if you hit another platform while still going up or before N seconds - A visual cue of where the platform will spawn according to mouse position would help - Maybe gravity should be a bit stronger

Congratulations!

Mother Hen by beepyeah 2020-04-29T23:01:41Z

Nice game! Mechanics are simple and fun.

Graphics and music are pleasant (except for the level end flashing...), much better than in most pico-8 games I've played. Liked how the eggs could survive crossing the fire.

Protect the Princess by AgentKnipe 2020-05-08T15:49:43Z

As people said, the gameplay is lacking. Indeed, it would be better to have just a few things working well. I would also point out that the graphics have inconsistent styles, which greatly affects the overall impression of the game.

Anyway, it's a good start, you just need to focus more on the gameplay.

It was your fault by Gavin Camlin 2020-05-04T22:24:53Z

Very interesting and innovative idea. The camera was really hard to control though.

Sunlit by palsina 2020-04-21T20:25:02Z

Nice! An interesting experience. Liked how the growth feels natural.

At some point, I wanted to quit, but yet it was beautiful to see the tree get over the next obstacle. Not my style, I thought it was a little slow paced, but then I realized it's perfect if you just want to relax (which is a good idea after a LD).

It feels a little weird that leaves in the shadow are "bad". Maybe it's just me, but avoiding them feels annoying rather than challenging. Maybe because it doesn't feel natural (it's normal for real trees) and something like avoiding fungi or shadowed branches growing slower or downward would fit better. Maybe it just doesn't fit the overall mood, don't know.

Lastly, the scroll of my touchpad got crazy and revealed more than I expected. :smirk: And sincerely it kept me motivated to get there! (Maybe this should be a feature ) I was able to reproduce this behavior by configuring the mouse to scroll many lines at once.

Overall, I liked it. Congratulations! [edit] PS.: Nice touch in the opening after you've beaten the game!

Slimekeep by BenBonk 2020-04-25T20:07:56Z

I think nobody has pointed it out yet, there was a serious collision detection problem. Maybe because the game runs slow in my browser, but bullets move so much each frame that they miss small slimes.

Anyway, I really had fun playing! The idea itself seemed clever and fun, and that proved to be true. Good job!

Slimekeep by BenBonk 2020-04-29T20:17:02Z

Hello again! In fact, the collision problem I had was because hardware acceleration was disabled in Chrome, so the game was running slow. Sorry for bothering! Now, bullets don't miss slimes anymore.

Hello World by Invader civic Ziur 2020-04-24T00:56:33Z

Nice game! A solid platformer, the controls are on point.

Heartventure by Crawl 2020-04-22T21:33:31Z

I really had fun! After some time, I became a good heart, but not enought to beat the game yet. XD

It was weird at first to see and control the heart of the hero. Anyway, it's indeed an awesome concept and a fun challenge.

Heartventure by Crawl 2020-04-26T00:25:31Z

Just came back to your game and found the treasure ;D

Dino spin by relixes 2020-04-29T15:52:06Z

This game is just too funny XD

[pt-br] Minha única crítica é sobre a música, acho que em geral combina com o jogo, só que não soa lá muito agradável. Mas ri muito com o futevôlei e o ovo se espatifando XD Parabéns! [/pt-br]

Mollie by DecadeDecaf 2020-06-04T22:20:02Z

Congratulations! Indeed, incredibly fun! Nice how I was able to use the skills needed in the last levels when playing the first levels again to avoid falling.

Commenting just because I found a bug: On level 15, keep jumping since the beginning and you'll fly. That also happens, for exemple, on level 13 or at the end of level 8.

Lokat by okkolobr 2020-04-22T22:18:09Z

Nice little game.

What could really be improved in this concept is how you get the ingredients, it would be more interesting with other mechanics. Something like exchanging ingredients when you have the wrong ones would fit better than just collecting ingredients that spawn randomly.

Also, there's a bug when you jump and get close to a wall when falling, the character automatically jumps again.

Anyway, good job!

Flight of Chernobog by WIDOSOFT 2020-04-21T21:31:53Z

Challenging and has a nice touch of humor, good job!

What I missed the most was better feedback when you take damage.

Battery Life by Morriekken 2020-05-01T19:02:30Z

Moving the robot is a little awkward, as moving backward is inverted compared to racing games, but you can get used after some time.

I couldn't fully enjoy the game because I couldn't see the entire map, the game doesn't fit on my screen(s).

Battery Life by Morriekken 2020-05-04T00:23:58Z

Ok, now I can say that the game is fun :D

As people have said, more levels would be nice. Maybe the goal could be to survive for N minutes, but then new batteries shouldn't fully recharge your battery, as a cheat would be to wait as much as possible before getting the next battery.

I have 2 screens, 1366px x 768px and 1280px x 1024px. This is how the Windows version looks (scaled down 4x):

1.1[-4].png 1.2[-4].png Screen 1

2.1[-4].png 2.2[-4].png Screen 2

This is how the web version looks:

Web 1 [-4].png

But now I was able to play, it's fine in fullscreen mode:

Web 2.1 [-4].png Web 2.2 [-4].png

Shiver by Oxters 2020-05-01T16:16:59Z

The concept is somewhat funny haha

My main concern is the abrupt return to the main menu when the game ends, lacking better feedback on what happened and where. Also, it would be nice to see how much time you played or so.

When I hold left mouse button in Save Everyone mode, the game crashes after a few seconds.

Probably the worst game in this event, but I'm still so proud that I finished it by ThatSoloDev 2020-04-23T16:49:53Z

Nice ideia. It would fit better touchscreen devices though.

Cells Alive by Ivan643 2020-04-22T20:46:28Z

Interesting concept. After losing many cells, I was able to build a good defense.

I preferred to use a small area of influence rather than a big one as it gives more control. But I'd suggest reducing the speed of the movement when the area is smaller, as cells easily get out of the area.

Keep the Light Alive by Nick White 2020-05-05T00:53:53Z

Nice, the movement is fluid in general, though there are some problems with the slopes and moving platforms.

The UI doesn't fit on my screen, I can't see if there's a healthbar etc. This is how it looks at the beginning (scaled down):

ruim [-4].png

Long Live To Flower by fermingimpel 2020-05-05T16:44:45Z

Clever idea, nice connection with the theme.

The sounds, although somewhat funny, are somewhat annoying, I played at volume 0 :( And the plant isn't very attractive (well, maybe it shouldn't be...). But I really liked the game!

PS.: I'd place the bars (water/sun) closer to each other, it would be easier to keep track of both.

Feed Them, With A Gun! by Andrew-David 2020-05-01T16:42:04Z

Nice game! As people said, there should be some incentive or so to expand the area. This concept has great potential, I kept playing until the first death. Maybe you could punish the player for overfeeding the animals.

(The window also doesn't fit on my screen when I open the game.)

Beached by JoeHoratio 2020-04-24T00:52:13Z

Yes, you probably need to edit your project on itch.io to make it published instead of draft.

FOX SEASON by Josicraft 2020-05-09T15:32:56Z

Fun game! I only missed something like a score counting and difficulty increasing over time (I quickly got able to keep all rabbits alive, specially with the powerups).

DilemnIA by SODIDOS 2020-04-26T00:04:44Z

I also completed step A, then some things didn't work as expected on step B.

Anyway, nice game! I had fun, even though it's (seemingly) incomplete.

cheяnoбуl simulator (chernobyl simulator) by Hamzeh 2020-05-07T23:49:57Z

Now that I really understand it, it's fun indeed! I'll admit I beat the game using the diagonal movement bug, and ended up letting the camera pointed in a fixed (diagonal) direction and moving around just using WASD. But even playing that way, it was fun. In fact, realizing I could do this and learning the right places to turn without looking was part of the fun XD

When you wash yourself 2 times in a row, the radioactivity level gets negative for a moment (although it becomes 0 right afterwards). I used the touchpad instead of the mouse because the mouse was too sensitive (before letting the camera fixed...). Also, sometimes it looks like the computer crash time penalty is too high (if I'm not mistaken, I had around 100 seconds and suddenly lost because of a crash).

Good job! =D

Nice, shows how LD is a great opportunity to bring ideas to life, be it a game or not so much!

Organ Simulator by mneubrand 2020-05-09T22:02:24Z

What a simulator XD Funny game!

Maybe everything should be controlled with the keyboard... Maybe not. Also, it would be nice to have some indication of the limits always visible -- a "healthbar" is the most obvious, but it could be a contour for the lungs; gradually filling the heart with the darker shade (arteries as "healthbars" ;D) etc.

Keep the Engine going by snip_man 2020-05-05T17:22:41Z

Very simple but nice! Indeed, the gameplay could be improved, but I really liked the concept. Although you can just look at the engine, it was nice to see the land getting closer as you advance.

Sometimes it's not clear what's wrong, only when I played again I noticed some parts were the problem (because in the first run I was appreciating the landscape ;D). Also, it's hard to see UI text when looking at the engine.

Cannon 24/7 by Igor KinGamer 2020-10-07T16:55:56Z

@guaranteedtrainwreck Thanks for the feedback!

I checked the uploaded archive and the jars are included (bin directory), I can't tell why that error happens.

The command inside cannon-24-7.bat should work (but maybe it should be `java -cp ".\bin\cannon-24-7.jar;.\bin\kotlin-stdlib-1.3.72.jar;.\bin\making-jvm-1.0.jar" io.kingamer.cannon247.SistemaJVMKt` or so).

Anyway, I'll try to create an executable, or even better, a web version!

Thanks again, and I'll surely check your entry ;)

Cannon 24/7 by Igor KinGamer 2020-10-09T04:30:29Z

Hi @mithoskuu @etrealjunior @guaranteedtrainwreck @mycosil!

I'm very glad to announce there's a web version now! Please let me know if you have any problems playing it.

Also, it's still the same skeleton of a game, but check back in a few days to see (if the web version works) what this will turn into!

Cannon 24/7 by Igor KinGamer 2020-10-09T17:21:56Z

@etrealjunior Indeed, it does remind of that kind of games. Thanks!

@mithoskuu Yes, there are only 3 levels by now. More puzzles coming soon!

Aboard by Chris Mulholland 2020-10-09T19:15:54Z

Its nice how you made this traditional puzzle fit in the game.

I was a little confused at first by the graphics, the water bucket between hallways looked like part of the floor.

Nice entry!

Hoops Paradise by GuaranteedTrainwreck 2020-10-10T15:52:25Z

Very funny! It just needs a few tweaks.

One thing is better feedback. I think there should be a better visual indication on the kids (in addition to sounds) when they're choking.

Also, the colors of the kids have a low contrast with the background, it would be better to use colors with higher contrast ([this might help](https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/)).

I agree this would fit well as a mobile game. Good job!

Box Hole by offlebaggins 2020-10-09T18:55:47Z

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

@miej Oh... Could you tell me what browser you used?

Anyway, there's a downloadable build now. Last LD people weren't able to run it, it needs Java, but please tell me if it works!

TorNado by Igor KinGamer 2021-05-11T21:10:19Z

@robotex Thanks for playing! You just have to go down until the bar on the top right gets filled up, but winning is not implemented yet.

Rock Bottom by Josh6680 2021-05-09T17:01:23Z

Solid entry! Simple yet fun, I really wanted to play more levels.

The collision box of sleeping bats seems smaller than it should be. The aim is hard to see when it's over rocks. Also, you can jump in the air when a level starts.

I think limited bullets would add to the challenge, since killing all bats isn't necessary to progress.

Deeper Space by NaraJeamfry 2021-05-01T19:19:28Z

Interesting prototype. Graphics and music create a great ambience. Given the limitations you described, I'll focus on technical aspects:

This is what the title screen looks like on my screen:

what i get [-3].png

Also, the character gets over walls in some places:

char over walls [-3].png

The HUD is white, so it's very hard to see.

Panels seem to be interactive from the other side, probably not intentional.

other side interactive [-3].png

Good job on what you achieved!

Puzzle blast by stmatn 2021-05-08T00:02:34Z

Great puzzle! Also took me a while to understand, but was fun once I got it.

*(Disclaimer: Puzzle lover here)* The puzzle is simple once you get how to solve it, you just need time, so (for a puzzle lover) a timer would add to the challenge.

Interesting take on the obvious "go deeper to find more gemstones" interpretation of the theme. Good job!

tetronimo! by gregfagan 2021-05-06T00:02:25Z

Simple and fun!

The blocks could have some transparency not to hide where the hole is (what happens when it's near the center of the play area).

Sometimes I had that double-rate issue, sometimes not.

And good job with procedural generation! I think the concept could somehow be explored further, but it's interesting and the result was nice.

Dungeoneer by notApollogising 2021-05-13T19:16:16Z

Nice. I liked the diversity of enemies.

After playing for a few minutes, I entered a room and spawned over a wall, so the game crashed.

Weapons spawn too frequently, I got the fireball many times in a row (although that seems to have no effect).

Graphics are basic, but that really didn't spoil the experience. I wish there were music and sounds. Good job!

🔥 Magma Eater 🔥 by landosilva 2021-05-12T18:59:25Z

Nice mix of genres! After a few tries, I realized I was thinking too much.

I was expecting bigger combos to give more points, it would be interesting.

I think transitions are a bit slow between pressing the play button, showing "Level X", and showing the level. Also, it would be nice to be able to scroll to see what's above you, or at least have some indication of which columns have blocks above your level.

What I missed the most was better feedback about time, a bar would make it easy to keep track of how much time has passed vs. how much is left.

CQns by PizzArt64 2021-05-03T21:54:59Z

Fun game!

Shooting backwards was a nice touch. I only missed some background, it gets a little confusing when the viewport moves since shapes recoil when they shoot.

On the technical side, the window starts too big, not fitting on the screen. Also, your view of what is above and below you is more limited in a wider resolution.

Good job!

Anchors & Miners by Yolwoocle 2021-05-11T00:02:33Z

Great idea, nice game!

I missed a better indication of which gemstones give more points. Showing the order at the title screen or using brighter colors for more valuable gemstones would help.

Graphics are nice. The music is pleasant (although a bit too loud), differently from most Pico-8 games I've played. Good job!

Nadiria by ArguablyArugula 2021-04-30T18:15:50Z

Very nice!

Interesting how big the map is. I wish there were background elements to help telling where you are.

As for the controls, movement is fluid, it feels like you're always in control. Also, it was nice to have WASD, since my keyboard can't handle combinations like up + left + space. Playing on a 16:9 screen, its "dangerous" to dash up/downwards as you can't see what's there, but maybe that's not a problem given how empty the world is. One bug is you can dash after dying.

The music is pleasant. Despite the dangers and the intimidating "Deaths: 0" at the beggining, it was a chilling experience. I could just calmly avoid obstacles and enjoy exploring the sea. Adding some background and maybe other elements, this would be a great chill game, good job!

Delitor by monninen 2021-05-09T17:31:54Z

Interesting concept. Jumping has some bugs. This could be one of those games with a moral, maybe that was your intention.

Deep Fall by fire_soldier888 2021-05-29T18:56:46Z

Nice! Adjacent "rows" sometimes could have obstacles in the same places to trick the player, as now you know you'll always have to move.

Dig Deeper & Deeper: Go Deep (HTML5) by vexorian 2021-05-17T23:34:54Z

Nice game! Mechanichs and puzzles are very interesting. Good job!

Climber by xxnolanxx 2021-04-28T22:16:41Z

Nice entry! Liked the mechanics.

Just some points: - Sometimes you become a moving corpse when you respawn - When you're hanging and release 'x', the sprite changes although you're still hanging - It would be easier to play if the pick stayed in the wall until you move or jump (istead of when you release 'x')

MinorMiner by Trabasura 2021-04-28T23:02:02Z

Very interesting concept.

Some points: - I think it takes too long to destroy blocks given they're so small - In one run, I spawned at a great height and already lost a significant amount of health. - The music was annoying

Also, it took me a while to understand destroying blocks was filling the special ability.

Sunny-Life Waste Disposal by joe40001 2022-04-21T15:52:41Z

Funny game! hahaha I admit I didn't have patience to read the description here in the LD page at all before playing. Anyway, I understood everything after some time and enjoyed playing it till the end. It's a complete experience, well done!

Captain Beardy by headchant 2022-04-20T02:40:20Z

Nice concept, liked it! Once I understood how it works, I basically became invincible. Anyway, the mechanics are interesting and the game can be developed further to make it more challenging and diversified. For example, there could be several trees that get depleted and grow at different places, you could limit the amount of resources (weight) the player can carry etc.

Btw, it was a little hard to play because the window was bigger than my screen (1366x768). Anyway, I managed to play with just a little part cut off on my second monitor.

I Can Fly by pndaa 2022-04-11T19:35:57Z

Nicely done! Overall it's a bit rough, but well executed. It would be better if spikes didn't kill you when you hit them from below (after shooting a cannon).

Moon Base EVAC by notime4games 2022-04-20T17:55:39Z

Neat game! At first, it was hard to understand how it worked. For example, the HUD could give better hints, like highlighting when something needs more power than there's available, where each building can be placed etc. Anyway, I kept trying, and now I've already survived well over a hundred years.

As for the randomness, maybe delaying when the risk of being discovered starts increasing or allowing the player to still do something after being discovered would help. There's a lot of potential there to require the player to develop good strategies.

Dice Master Adventure by Knatt 2022-04-18T23:24:12Z

Nice entry! Graphics are great and it has a lot of content.

As for rolling less dice than you have, that means less chance of getting 1s, so that already makes sense for me.

There are just some issues (like showing the last sum you've got when you enter a new battle, or being able to run when you have less than 3 dice), and the UI is confusing at first. But it's a great idea and fun afterall. Good job!

MineCraftMine by automatonvx 2022-04-19T19:14:48Z

Nice game! My only struggle was with the movement, the character waits too long to start walking after pressing WASD. I didn't understant everything at first, but still managed to get to the second level.

Color Cage by Apples_mmmmmmmm 2022-04-19T18:39:46Z

Fun game! Interesting, even though with simple mechanics. After a few tries I was able to double my score (from 27 to 53) after finding a good strategy. It's really adictive. Good job!

ONCOMING by Paperdomo101 2022-04-05T02:31:49Z

A classic genre with nice twists – really fun! I'll surely come back to play a little more.

It just feels a bit too random whether cars will try or not to dodge. Also, it's possible to pass between two cars, but the movement to auto align with the lane makes it harder.

CLIMATE GARDENING by Lexxio 2022-04-19T01:16:31Z

Graphics are really good, but somewhat inconsistent because of the title screen, gray blocks and design of the enemies. The mood is nice, but the gameplay needs some work, mostly because it's too slow, as others have said, and it took me a while to understand everything I should do. That said, you indeed have a nice concept – plant tower defense hahaha – and a solid implementation here.

High Class Steaks by TopperVideoGames 2022-04-18T22:34:25Z

Funny entry! It was really easy to beat, but the concept was nice and I had fun. Would like to see this concept developed further. Sounds are weird but fit the style of the game well.

Majellan by Reulan 2022-04-05T03:23:29Z

Nice concept! The animations felt good, specially when the blob touches the floor again after hopping. Graphics are nice, only the solid color as background didn't fit.

There are a few bugs involving collisions, for example, flying when you jump and hit the ceiling, or taking damage when a block has a sawblade by it's side and you fall halfway between then (you shouldn't take damage because you're over the block). Also, I found a fountain I wasn't able to collect.

It Burns by TescoOne 2022-04-10T20:15:26Z

Simple and well executed mechanics. Graphics are somewhat pleasant.

I only missed being able to dash left, or maybe the screen shouldn't go back to emphasize the "go right" aspect. Also, W/A/D/E wasn't the easiest combination of keys to use, space instead of E would have been better.

Lava Run by BlueDingo 2022-04-11T01:50:39Z

Simple yet fun. I missed feedback on how close to you the lava wall is. In fact, I wanted to see it. A small rearview or a key to look back would solve that. Obstacles or something would be a plus.

The Final Clue by mirianbr 2022-04-20T01:59:09Z

Liked it! Nice story, immersive. It just seems too fast to really read everything and make choices (but English isn't my first language). Anyway, I enjoyed playing!

A drop of water by dont work 2022-04-18T22:14:13Z

Graphics are nice, it's a solid entry. Gameplay still needs something to stand out from other games of this genre though.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Robotbotbot by alpharock6 2022-10-04T00:47:30Z

Nice game! Great use of the theme.

I really missed a more precise indication of the time left for an action to repeat. I mean, the bars are little and it's a bit hard to get the timing right. A little "3/2/1" counter over each bar when it's almost empty would help.

LD54 — Limited Space

Unbelievable Universe by Igor KinGamer 2023-10-03T11:22:37Z

@brainles-etertainment Thanks for the feedback! You can tell the direction of the moons looking at the Planets panel =) I wanted to highlight that on the first level with moons, but I didn't have the time.

Unbelievable Universe by Igor KinGamer 2023-10-03T12:09:05Z

@pikario Thanks!! You're right, it's looping – I was going to add intro and end screens, but a really weird bug in my "engine" prevented me from doing so :')

Unbelievable Universe by Igor KinGamer 2023-10-03T12:12:55Z

@croze @willianfhs @stvup @falestress Thanks everyone!! I'll surely use the feedback to improve the game!

Unbelievable Universe by Igor KinGamer 2023-10-06T02:12:30Z

@midblue Thanks! And nice idea hehe That indicator was a placeholder, I wanted to make a better preview of the movement but ran out of time. Now I know I really should do that =)

Unbelievable Universe by Igor KinGamer 2023-10-08T02:28:33Z

@mhorth Thanks for the feedback! You can use `.` (period key) to skip levels and see the last one if you wish :)

Unbelievable Universe by Igor KinGamer 2023-10-11T11:02:44Z

@furano Thanks for the feedback! That's weird, it happened to me once too, but I couldn't reproduce it anymore... As the game involves timing, I'll have to think about this, but I liked your suggestion :)

LIGHTDANCER by xk_the_name 2023-10-03T01:28:57Z

Great gameplay, a neat idea and very well executed. It's a little hard, but that's not a problem at all. I had some difficulty aiming, but I believe it's a matter of getting used to it. The game has a nice nostalgic feel.

F.R.E.D by Mr_Field 2023-10-06T19:55:07Z

Great, I really liked it!

At first, I didn't know what to do – my monitor is in portrait, so the game window was too and I didn't even see the line about destroying the ooze. I'd suggest highlighting it so even in these conditions one couldn't miss it.

That said, it was overall a great experience, I "feared" the ooze the first times it got close, and having different ways to destroy it was creative. Good job!

The Final Years of Atlantis by kleinzach 2023-10-07T05:09:15Z

Funny idea! Not exactly my kind of game -- anyway it was fun to place some buildings, look around, create little patterns.

I was writing I missed being able to see the city from closer, then it was a complete joy to discover mouse wheel just does that =)

The Final Years of Atlantis by kleinzach 2023-10-07T05:36:58Z

Even without putting much effort it's kinda beautiful...

Swear Jar by Steffo 2023-10-07T15:19:43Z

Great amount of content there!

I don't really like this kind of games, but it's so nice it kept me well entertained for a few minutes. It's polished and has fun mechanics (mechanics I'd love to play more with). Well done!

[edit] I played it on a powerful device, and the game lagged once, when there was a LOT of coins (before I understood how to spend the coins) and I turned the phone.

Rabbit Hole Run: Don't Lose Your Head! by ryusui 2023-10-09T17:20:06Z

Solid and fun entry! I like how it goes well beyond basic platforming. The storytelling was a nice touch.

I'd say the sounds didn't work that well, but still better than no sound at all.

A little bug I've found: When I jump and die like this, Alice respawns running left instead of right:

Bug1p.png

Bug2p.png

I'm surely coming play it again if I don't have the time to reach the end now =)

Final Frenzy! by almost 2023-10-09T05:32:03Z

Incredibly creative and well executed!

It forces you to "study for real", pay attention to details. I got tired after playing a while, but that's mainly because it's 2 am  I like studying and I'd like to play it thoroughly, I'm just not able right now.

So many good aspects -- I'll just highlight how realistic (hence immersive) sounds and graphics are. Well done!

The Cauldron Coven Coalition by Sarah 2023-10-07T19:54:18Z

Nice concept with great potential!

I managed to survive and win, however, I couldn't fully use the mechanics -- it's hard to remember all the elements and really think which one I need where. I wish villagers came in smaller hoards at first. Also, even if I'm able to remember the colors, it's hard to recognize them.

A technical issue, if you try to move the camera out of bounds, looks like it's position keeps being increased or decreased, then you have to bring it all the way back until it's in bounds again.

Anyway, bypassing these issues, it's a nice and fun little game, good job!

Limited Seats by squirrelsoft 2023-10-14T13:09:43Z

Great idea! Fun and challenging. A little overwhelming however when lots of meeples start to spawn, you don't quite have the time to get used to it.

It's hard to interact with the seats because they are small, it would be better if a magnified view of the seats appeared next to the train when the mouse gets close. This spoils the gameplay a little since it involves agility.

Anyway, I was able to beat the levels, and I'd love to play a version that adresses these issues. Good job!

[Edit] A final word, I think you should give the player a few moments to look at the level and grasp the connections before it begins =)

HyperCop by muffintrap 2023-10-07T04:38:05Z

That's a good start! Graphics are nice, and the concept of having to hit only specific ships brings interesting mechanics.

On the technical side, there's a little bug: if you go forward/backward and sideways at the same time, the forward/backward movement won't stop until you stop moving sideways.

Asteroid Base by JOZGames 2023-10-03T00:54:12Z

Took me some time to fully understand. Very interesting concept. Looks like these mechanics may take quite a time to master. Also, great art!

I missed being able to select the pieces using the keyboard and use the mouse only to place them.

Good job! =)

The Dark Forest of Utharios by Elitemoni 2023-10-07T14:54:09Z

Nice idea! (I'm biased because I like bullet hells hehe)

Great potential, it's nice the player can strategically feed the pixie or save for later, that mixed with the craziness of a bullet hell. But the pixie doesn't always go in the better directions, and it feels like things are getting out of control.

Anyway, it's fun, good job!

Gravity Warp by RMHeuer 2023-10-06T01:54:01Z

Fun game! And I particularly like this kind of interpretation of the theme =D

I don't know if that's good or not, but being fast enough you can win many levels just by changing the direction of gravity mid air. As this does require some skill, I don't think that's a problem. Well, as I'm writing this and playing, I reached levels where I have to use this, so I just discovered it too early =)

Something that made me lose a couple of times is that the character starts moving right after you press space if you're holding an arrow to choose the new direction. I mean, for example, you hold right arrow, then press space, then right arrow immediately causes an unwanted movement (although I know you don't have to hold it, but holding is more intuitive). Maybe movement should be delayed a little bit when you just keep holding a key, or that key should be completely ignored until you release it and press it again (that would work better for me I think).

Good job!! And here's an interesting screenshot hehe

Parking Ltd. by Hawkin 2023-10-13T19:56:07Z

It's fun how the game becomes a complete mess, including cars blowing up XD And I liked the difference between the days/levels. Good job!

It's good that you can clearly identify patrons (I've played another entry that fell short on this). However, it looks like they come back in the exact same order they leave their cars, a little randomness here is the only thing I really missed.

On The Edge by mhorth 2023-10-05T02:14:26Z

Nice game! Great ambience, enjoyable puzzles, great graphics.

Didn't make me feel like I was stuck like some point and click games I've played (although I was a kid back then). The contrast between the happy song at the beginning and the game afterwards was a nice touch.

Almost won on the first try, but only did it on the second one.

Someone said it's too dark -- I started playing on a TV/monitor, and it was perfect. But I switched to my notebook's screen, and it was indeed too dark.

Plump on the Stump by Bloodbane 2023-10-18T03:22:39Z

It has both a nice nostalgic Bomberman feel and a bullet hell feeling, I loved this!

In Endless mode I noticed that sometimes it looks like the shots should hit enemies but they don't. I think adding a shadow to the shots would help.

Arrow keys also move the character, but they don't make you shoot in the direction you're moving, I believe this is what is causing confusion for some players. Also, I'd suggest making it shot not only in the direction you're moving, but in the last direction you moved as well.

Space Knight by darzu 2023-10-07T12:22:14Z

Interesting game!

It felt a little hard to control, but I believe the real issue was the camera position -- the character obstructs the camera, so I had to turn the camera to be able to see my goal and ended up not going exactly where I wanted.

I eventually died when I could see no oxygen nearby :') Good job!

[Edit] One more thing: I think there's no way to let go of something you already picked up, that may cause problems for the player if he mistakenly gets fuel instead of oxygen as I've done just now hehe.

Doodle Defenders by martinboue 2023-10-10T18:29:06Z

Nice game! It's simple but entertaining. Played it on mobile.

My first improvement would be further limiting how much units you can place.

Thinking of other possible improvements, I missed more elaborate mechanics. Particularly it would be interesting if one line somehow affected the others -- not quite the vibe, but think of explosions, or maybe a way to move units between lines.

Also, new weapons (instead of/before enemies coming in massive amounts) would be nice.

Grandma Won't Stop Buying! by WeirdBitGames 2023-10-18T02:19:25Z

Nice idea! Not very challenging, but funny anyway! Feels like a promising prototype. I mean, it's funny to throw the packages and see the mess, but you can just always pile them up instead.

Turbo Tumble by bad_fetus 2023-10-11T12:53:21Z

Great game! I liked how fast you can go and still stay in control. This is what I'd call a trail hell hahaha specially level 3.

Unfortunately motion sickness made me stop, so this is where I'm stuck for now:

Thisa.png

I feel the camera position could be improved somehow so it's easier to know what's ahead, and maybe even reduce the effect of motion sickness.

Shrinking Space by Ruben Rosenmeyer 2023-10-02T23:55:36Z

Audio and graphics make it feel like a complete game. The overall experience at first feels somewhat frustrating, because you can't do much against the elements that kill you, and the game ends so quickly.

The red ball seemed impossible to avoid, but after a few more tries I got it, so it feels a little more fun now.

My score: 1920

Xtreme Valet Sim by Studio Nogg 2023-10-06T14:09:33Z

Nice concept, funny "cars" hahaha

It's hard to tell what car belongs to who, but the idea has great potential, and playing was fun anyway.

Tanuki Trouble by xett 2023-10-08T04:12:49Z

Lovely game! Solid entry, pretty fluid gameplay, also good for speedruns. It's nice that although the tanuki has the skill of infinite jumps that doesn't make the game trivial.

Cosmic Caster by Whysper 2023-10-09T04:41:05Z

Interesting idea!

I wasn't able to get it to recognize an "M" till I realized how I should make it. I knew it was what I needed: 554 points after I got it.

The Tutorial and Practice Drawing help, but I think less enemies should come in the first minutes of play for the player to get the hang of it. That aside, it's a fun game, good job!

Time it right! by andriybyelikov 2023-10-21T16:04:49Z

I loved the concept. Certainly it needs more polish, specially in the matter of ease of play (usability). Simplify the controls/interactions as much as possible, so the player can focus on the essence of the challenge.

Of course, the game needs more levels, and the first levels should have solutions a lot simpler, I'd say even trivial, given how innovative the gameplay is. It would help the player to get used to the timing (as well as to the controls) while still beating levels, instead of plain trial and error. Maybe introduce new explosives and fuses through the levels, starting with only one or two available in the first levels.

Great job coming up with this!

Down Below by Draekdude 2023-10-14T04:36:36Z

Nice! I liked the style. Keeping track of which direction I was facing was hard at first, but I got used to it after a while.

The main issues I had were already pointed out -- mostly about feedback. I thought statue feedback was buggy, but now I tried it again and realized that's because the sound comes late, half a second after clicking -- more than enough to cause confusion since the player has to discover what's happening. (Edit: Moving stops the sound, which worsens the issue.)

A few points about interaction: When you click on a door to close it, then click again before it's closed, it stops in the wrong position. Also, I was able to interact from any distance. Clicking on a statue right after interacting with a door makes it stop halfway, but that feels about right.

Played it until I made it to the end. It took me some time because I mistook two statues near each other to be the same one, but I think that was my fault haha. Great job!

Exploit the Tiles by cd7 2023-10-20T03:35:15Z

Nice mechanics. Not very challenging by now, but fun anyway, I liked it =)

Here are some points that I think could improve the game: - The win condition wasn't clear (I didn't really know it existed, I just kept playing until I won). I see the oportunity to have several kinds of goals (expand by N tiles, generate some amount of a resource etc), and set new goals randomly or once the previous one is achieved. - Moving the mouse near the borders of the screen moves the camera, I found myself constantly moving the camera by accident because of this - New cards come too fast, you don't have much time to read and choose which to use - Balance resource generation so the player has to choose more carefully (which reinforces the previous point) - Cards are a little hard to read, and unreadable when scaled down. Also, a succinct indication of the effects would be good, like "+30 🪨 / min".

Maybe you're already addressing some of these, and I'll surely enjoy playing it when updates come, good job!

Crumble Cave by SpacemanStan 2023-10-06T16:20:25Z

My first impression as I start playing is: it's hard to move around without falling in lava – but that looks like a fun challenge.

Maybe that's intentional, but it's a little too dark. Also you can still jump after you die.

I think controls would work better for me if A/D and Left/Right were swapped, so sideways movement and jumping were controlled with the same hand.

Shrinking Universe by Snorps 2023-10-07T20:27:57Z

Fun game. It's very hard, but then I went "challenge accepted" haha

I'd prefer moving with arrow keys since I'm right handed. I held the keyboard in a weird position to play WASD with right hand and got 106.

I appreciate it being hard, but the box sometimes just kills you, period

Pegaseal by Miller 2023-10-09T18:09:13Z

Nice! But I could only watch the video. Unfortunately the game crashes if I give camera permission. I tried it on a high-end Android device.
