I had some issues opening the game on MacOS but I managed to do it!
Quite an interesting concept, perhaps it could be expanded on a little bit in the future! You could turn this concept in a more fully formed game! I really like being able to put the pickaxe inside a wall to slow down a fall!
Good job!
I don't know if i was playing the game right, but jumping of walls and sliding down with the pick was oddly satisfying and really fun. I never used the ropes though.
This is like a reverse climbing game and a welcome change of pace from all the other jam games so far involving a pickaxe

Had fun with the pick and climbing down the sides to beat the game faster. Wish the music was around for longer and earlier. Unsure what the ropes are for, found them hard to deploy in situations that were useful.
Yes, the rope mechanic is something I definitely wish I could have fleshed out more. They're just meant to make the climb down a little safer in tricky situations. Oh well, something to improve in a more completed version. Thanks for playing!
Skidding down the walls is really satisfying! I honestly think turning that into it's own whole game could be great. Nice job!
cool little game, the pickaxe mechanic is so satisfying both sticking to the wall or sliding it down, wish the rope had more utility

i enjoyed the inclusion of the plethora of dead bodies i left behind, and it was funny to respawn as a corpse. i dont think the rope was ever actually necessary to make progress? might have helped to have more of the level visible so that players could plan ahead/ think more strategically about how/when to use ropes to get through challenges

I attempted playing the game using ropes only and grasping the ledge quite difficult. Reading comments I discovered you could slow your fall by using pick against the wall mid fall, felt like this mechanic could be better illustrated in the instructions. The picking mechanic makes the game feel way more fast-paced and could see some speedrunning potential. Overall fun little game.
I kept quitting out of the game by accident with the **ESC** Key.
I really *dig* games where the challenge is traversal itself. I enjoyed this one.
It would be nice to have a method of seeing what lies below. It could even just be pressing the down arrow while hanging from your pick or looking over a ledge, causing the game camera to pan some depth down. You would have a chance to methodically plan your next jump.
I would love to see where this goes. Thanks for the game!

Fun little game!
The mechanic of falling down and then sticking to the wall with the pickaxe was so fun! I can see potential for this if you ever decide to continue on this game. Quite a shame that the rope function did not serve much of a purpose during my gameplay. I'd like to see it in better use, too!
Otherwise, it was a fun game! Liked it quite a lot. Great job!
Nice entry! Liked the mechanics.
Just some points: - Sometimes you become a moving corpse when you respawn - When you're hanging and release 'x', the sprite changes although you're still hanging - It would be easier to play if the pick stayed in the wall until you move or jump (istead of when you release 'x')

Fun complete experience. I know it was a bug but i really enjoyed respawning in corpse mode. ha. Picking my way down was really satisfying too. Maybe a good extension would be areas that you need to go up too? then you could chuck the ropes up spelunky style and get more use of them.
Nice functional game, quite worth developing further!

Interesting and catchy mechanic of braking using pick!
Some remark: game needs more variety to maintain interest.
Nice entry!
really great concept with real good execution!!!
the sounds of falling and the pickaxe scraping against the walls were pretty satisfying
although i wish there was a clearer indication of how far you have to fall in order to die (and also let the player respawn automatically :p)
really good job :>
No matter what I did, my character was always running left as soon as I started the game. I tried remapping the controls in the options screen, but that also didn't work.
Really sorry - wish I could have played and rated your game.
@andrewkennedy Dang that sucks, sorry about that and thanks for giving it a shot! I really appreciate the effort. Working on an updated version of the game now so I will try to see if I can fix it
The mac os version doesnt seem to open :<. I liked the art tho :>
The controls were a bit confusing аt the beginning, but overall it was fun.

I had a good time playing it, congratulations!
Like others have also mentioned, I finished it without using a rope. I think it comes down to the fact that learning the ropes - pun intended - is costly. There isn't enough experimentation room to learn how to use it properly in the same way that the other mechanics have (fall damage and pickaxing).
But it was a pleasant experience all the same. Good job on the music starting near the end of the climb, it worked really well!
I like the pick-axe mechanic to slow the fall of the climber. There's a lot of satisfaction in slowly learning how the axe interacts with the wall works. That said, to me, said mechanic made all other movement-related mechanics completely useless. Ropes weren't very useful, and I found the ledge grab too context-sensitive (not to mention the visual design made the sprite look like a wall slide, rather than a ledge grab). I ultimately found the game to be too easy, and with the current level design, wasn't compelled to explore further what I can do with the game's mechanic.
To be honest, amongst all the mechanics, I found the ropes to be the most interesting and with strong potential. Perhaps if, similar to *Terraria*, there was a way to shoot them into the walls, as well as gathering more from in-world pick-ups, could make the mechanic more useful. If the pick axe must remain, it might be interesting to add climbing up ceilings of caves to make the item less useful.

Nice entry, I think the climbing mechanics are very interesting. Good job!
