AYYY, I JUST MADE A COMMENT WONDERING IF ANYONE MADE A GAME FOR OLD CONSOLES. Smart af, I got it running. Good job.

xedur 2020-04-21 07:18

I am absolutely amazed that someone would create a SNES game in this day and age. Along with Dreamcast, SNES is my all time favourite console :D Oh, and the game is cool as well! It was a nice little nostalgia trip.

markwolf 2020-04-21 08:04

I also have a crush for the SNES. This entry is the most original I have tested so far. Make the cartridge jump from one slot to another is pretty chanllenging. The collision system is not forgiving at all. But that spices up the whole thing. I really enjoyed playing your game. So cool

vectrex28 2020-04-21 08:05

YES! Another LD entry for a retro console! I thought I was the only one who bothered making a retro game this time. And a fun little game to boot :) Only thing I'd have added is variable jump height by pressing the jump button longer, but it's just a small nitpick. Great job!

arzi 2020-04-21 09:11

Surprisingly addictive!

alexvoxel 2020-04-21 12:08

Very good job and nice feel. Felt a bit like a rage game tho

laveilleusegraphique 2020-04-21 12:42

I like this kind of little-quick-funny game ! Nice to see some retro games in there. Thanks for the fun!

xpost2000 2020-04-21 13:21

I did not expect to see an entry for a retro console to appear. The collision is indeed a bit difficult to wrestle with, but I'm impressed it plays really well, looks good too, good job!

noirdrive 2020-04-21 13:51

Amazed by the entry created for SNES. Give me a good feeling. Also cool game!

viktya 2020-04-21 14:30

I got so thrilled when i read about a retro console entry! I like the toaster effect where the game pops in the air xD good job

torn 2020-04-21 14:30

The game itself wasn't too much, but it's amazing that it's actually a game for an old console. Max points for the theme for that. =D

trace 2020-04-21 14:35

Literally keeping a console alive by making a game where you have to keep that console alive has to be one of the most creative approaches to theme i've seen yet. nice job!

wzqxrys 2020-04-21 15:49

Nice man, did you use a emulator to put it on your tv? or is it in your real snes? ksa.png

timo-strating 2020-04-21 16:02

Wow really nice, I never had heared about that PVSnesLib library. Im very new to the homebrew world and during this game jam I made my second game boy advance game ever. Apparently we had the same idea only my game is called "Keep the Gameboy alive".

The source code of your game looks very much like mine from a first glance. I use Tonc, http://coranac.com/tonc/text/video.htm as a basis instead of PVSnesLib. So im devinely going to give that library you used a try, some day in the future. The source code of my code is available here if you are wondering or if you want to play it. https://github.com/timostrating/Ludumdare46

Specially the message that you got this done in 10 hours is very impressive btw. That just really shows that once you know what you are doing and understand how these old schools homebrew things work you can make things very quick.

pndaa 2020-04-21 16:04

1min51 :v: !!! Fun game, get a little boring after one minutes ;). Simple but effective.

fenderbate 2020-04-21 17:01

Not sure if it was intentional or it's something on my end, but the music was really crackly and was hard to listen to. Otherwise the game itself was simple but innovative in my opinion.

minibobbo 2020-04-21 18:05

This was definitely not how I remember the SNES working.

tom-robson 2020-04-21 18:05

Awesome entry! Love the idea, the theme integration, and just everything about the game! I love that there's people so dedicated to their childhood consoles that they still make games for them.

motley 2020-04-21 18:11

The gameplay wasn't very appealing, but this is one of the best theme interpretations I've ever seen on a jam

barret 2020-04-21 18:18

lol haha I love the concept, keeping the SNES alive. the game is pretty fun even if I stink at it. I was actually surprised when I failed b/c I didn't line up the cartridge haha. I was like well that makes sense I probably broke the cartridge.

One thing that was a little hard is trying to figure out which one is the lowest. might of been helpful to have something to indicate the lowest one, or possible when any gets below 40% they are red or something like that.

but for 10 hours this is a pretty solid game.

synystercola 2020-04-21 18:36

OMG this is a great concept. A great take on the theme. I wish the the game was a bit more forgiving on landing the cartridge, but otherwise good job!

nosfer 2020-04-21 19:06

great! and big cheers for taking extra mile for doing this on old platform!

primed-pixel 2020-04-21 20:55

Wow! The gameplay is a bit boring to be perfectly honest, but the gimmick of running on a SNES was absolutely astonishing! I played this on my SNES mini to add to the retro feeling and it fit really well! Great entry!

sid-fish-games 2020-04-21 21:04

The theme is brilliant but the gameplay does get a bit boring after a while.

rednaxelus 2020-04-21 21:21

Really cool concept and execution, I also love the SNES. No wonder you opted out in the audio category tho

dillonbecker 2020-04-21 21:22

Great work! It's like the new Flappy Bird

zeggamer 2020-04-21 21:38

A true Embrase of the Theme, Bravo!

dsn 2020-04-21 22:00

Fit perfectly with the theme. Good job

curtamyth 2020-04-22 06:02

Very nice use of theme!

brylamare 2020-04-22 07:04

This was fun, SNES was my favorite console ever. Some good vibes playing this, great work. Unique take on the them also, I wish you had to also blow in the cartridge to help keep it alive haha

euler-moises 2020-04-22 12:33

A great use of the theme. If I could I would leave SNES alive forever! Simple game, well done and with the particularity of being a game about SNES made for real SNES. The soundtrack fits very well with the game style and games of the original console. With the addition of obstacles and difficulties, a commercial game would become very easy.

Congratulations on the idea.

2020-04-22 13:04

Simple concept, fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/YzvpDVUnHwU

fran-gambero 2020-04-22 15:01

It did take a time to understand what I had to do, but when I found it I could move the cartridge in the air it was so much fun! It's also incredible that this is an actual SNES Game, the graphics are pretty and so the movement, well done!

patsui 2020-04-22 16:58

I love the music, art and the twist on the theme! I played it longer than I thought. Very well done!

mika-la-grand 2020-04-22 17:55

Interesting, I didn't know you could still make games for the SNES. The sound isn't great, but the movement is pretty fun.

corny 2020-04-22 17:56

Extra points for making a game for the SNES, new games for old consoles always so awesome to see!

bohrmaschine2000 2020-04-22 19:18

Nice Game but a bit lame. Sorry i think the Game need some kind of enemy or power ups. I like the music. Nice Concept! Sorry for my bad english ;-).

2020-04-22 19:40

Interesting interpretation of the theme. Nice music and graphics, fits perfectly together. However, keeping the the cartridge alive seems harder than the 4 SNES.

bobost2 2020-04-23 12:53

Another game to laugh at my aim accuracy :D

flamus 2020-04-23 16:16

This game is amazing! Really enjoyed playing it, the music and graphics pair well together. Congrats!

2020-04-23 16:28

Haha, love this! I really like the idea of making a new game for a retro console. Very well done!

john-snyder 2020-04-23 16:52

Love the idea, great take on the theme. I do think the game is slightly unforgiving and having the S button as the jump button was a weird choice in my opinion. Overall good job!

hcursino 2020-04-24 06:51

Oh boy this was hard! Hahaha, nice entry I love the art style and the music. I think you could have changed the image of the game displayed on the TV to a different image each time and reference other snes games, that would definitely kept me playing for longer just to see how many games I could recognize. But other than that, excellent entry.

garys 2020-04-24 20:50

Nice! Took a while to get the hang of it - ended up at 52 seconds I think. Always appreciate a game made for an old system. Learning NextBASIC at the moment for the new ZX Spectrum.

lereveur 2020-04-24 22:19

I scored 1:19, simple and entertaining game, good job! (especially in so less time)

mrbamboo 2020-04-24 23:57

DUDE ! Me and my friend started to create a game on SNES last year. Still not done but it's nice to don't be alone !!!

g-a-gamestudio 2020-04-25 02:51

Good game, but it is really hard to play and gets repetitive and boring after a while.

nutriz 2020-04-25 19:30

Very nice interpretation of the theme ! With a nes this wouldn't have worked :joy:

jin9310 2020-04-26 10:57

What an amazing idea! Great stuff!

igor-kingamer 2020-04-26 15:42

Nice! I'd only point out that below 10%, it displays two "%" ("9%%", "8%%" etc.).

randomhuman 2020-04-26 19:20

Great concept! Cool to see something developed for an old console.

joemid 2020-04-28 04:17

Yay SNES! Love the famicom style. Graphics were chunky fab. "Shlack" is my new fav sound effect- tho whne I played on HTML the sounds seemed to bug out. All-in-all, simple, nostalgic, and prolly one of the most real representations of the them this LD. Way to go!

oxters 2020-04-30 16:19

The graphics are great, the music is great, the gameplay is fun, everything about this game is great!

zondarg 2020-05-04 22:50

Nice interpretation of the theme, and cool graphics and sounds - and done in 10hrs? Amazing. Great job!

disthron 2020-05-05 11:36

You really need to be on the ball with your... jump targeting? It was fun for a minute or two. No bugs as far as I can tell, very simple but seems to work well.

thibaud-ligneul 2020-05-08 16:22

Great idea making a snes game, 5/5 on innovation!
