LD46 — Keep it alive

Keeping SNES Alive! by drludos 2020-04-21T20:55:21Z

Wow! The gameplay is a bit boring to be perfectly honest, but the gimmick of running on a SNES was absolutely astonishing! I played this on my SNES mini to add to the retro feeling and it fit really well! Great entry!

Violent Running by Faulkin 2020-04-29T19:28:50Z

Nice little game. Sound and music would've enhanced the experience and overall the difficulty is a bit unbalanced, but nevertheless a fun little experience!

Body and Soul by blabberf 2020-04-21T20:27:37Z

Hey this is a really nice game! Albeit a tad on the easy side, but I definitely enjoyed it!

Time is of the Essence by primed-pixel 2020-04-21T21:13:20Z

Hello all who have played so far! The difficulty is indeed very difficult on some, that was something I didn't really have time to balance myself. Thanks for all the kind words and constructive criticism!

Awesome entry! I really liked how simple everything was -- how to play, the player's health, and the game's mechanics were pretty much self-explanatory, making it a great game to pick up and play to try and nab a high score. Where it fails is with balance, as I felt that the player had too much health, and too many enemies spawned too quickly. Perhaps giving the player less health and focusing more on dodging (at least in the early game) would improve this, as I ended up not caring about dodging, but rather shooting as many enemies as possible. Either way, I think the mechanics are solid and well implemented, particularly with the slower movement speed whilst shooting, as it provides important decision making and fast-paced thinking on whether to be offensive or defensive. Overall, really great stuff here, and an awesome idea that could be expanded upon into quite a lovely arcade-styled game! Great job :)

CrystalLine by graebor 2023-10-03T22:11:01Z

Definitely an awesome entry here, and quite a unique and innovative idea too! I could see myself sticking in a lot of hours into this trying to nab a high score. Really nice job!

windowkill by torcado 2023-10-08T12:07:41Z

Wow! I mean wow! What an absolutely fantastic idea executed to perfection! I simply could not put this down. Amazing stuff! I have literally only two criticisms: I'd love a native Linux version (since it was made in Godot this shouldn't be difficult, running it through WINE left much to be desired) and some music to go alongside it, but obviously for a jam game, those are far from important! Incredibly fun and addictive, great job!

PELLET BOI by TechnoNugget 2023-10-03T19:36:13Z

Really clever idea executed really well. Honestly, a few extra hours spent on this, and additional polish via the likes of sound and music could make it a really good puzzle game -- especially on something like mobile, where swiping could be used to control. Either way, I really enjoyed my time with it, and would certainly like to see the idea reach its full potential, if you're up for it. Amazing job!

Pipeline Ride by Papaver 2023-10-03T19:49:55Z

Quite a innovative and overall creative game. Really fun concept and solid levels, particularly for jam game (level design can be a bitch!). Definitely something that could be expanded upon as well, with additional mechanics and levels, which is always great because it means the concept it really solid. Great job. Only obligatory criticism is that I'm having trouble piecing together how it *really* matches the theme, but that's quite a pedantic observation. Great job overall!

Tiny Tour by Bugord 2023-10-08T12:40:40Z

Amazing puzzle game, with some really challenging and thought inducing puzzles! I just about managed to complete all of them, but level 9 gave me a hell of a lot of trouble. Loved it :)

UPGRADE - OUT OF MEMORY by Worido 2023-10-07T12:20:19Z

A really nice arcade-styled game here, with the potential for a lot more too. The idea's solid and execution, particularly for a jam game, is excellent. As others have mentioned, additional polish via the likes of sound, music, and additional graphical niceties (such as particle effects), as well as perhaps an increase in difficulty via a smaller play-field, or even the option to customise the size, would go a long way. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this, great job!

Denpo by Strato 2023-10-08T12:13:36Z

Really cute, really well balanced, and a really fun time! I loved how satisfying chaining a bunch of combinations is, and overall how bloody addicting the whole thing is. Amazing entry :)

Good stuff! A very well executed idea, particularly for a jam game. There's a couple of minor nuisances and gripes, particularly with the collision (as you mentioned in the description), but overall I definitely enjoyed my time with this. Good job!

H.O.R.S.T. - High Operational Robot System Test by DorianSnowball 2023-10-08T11:46:49Z

Really solid stuff here. Level design was great and definitely allowed the player to experiment, instead of telling the player exactly how everything works via a wall of text. It's a really interesting take on the theme too, and definitely a welcome one. I had a couple of problems with the feeling of the player in the air -- it felt like I had little control, but seemed like I should've had much more control, although this limitation did indeed compliment the abilities and level design, so perhaps a happy medium could be found if you decide to take this concept further! Overall, a solid single-screen puzzle platformer that I really enjoyed my time with. Great job :)

Caved In by primed-pixel 2023-10-03T21:27:29Z

@joymagine I can confirm that all the levels are indeed possible, albeit I left a few admittedly sadistic jumps in a couple :)

Caved In by primed-pixel 2023-10-03T21:45:54Z

@spooncats ladders are definitely something that I would've liked to improve; even just a few modifications could have really helped, I feel. Thanks for playing!

Unlimited space by akitl 2023-10-05T20:14:41Z

A lot of good ideas and high levels of polish here -- great job! A couple of gripes are pretty much things I've seen other people mention, such as the possibility of a minimap etc., but of course there's only so much you can do in 72 hours! Really nice job on everything else, and I definitely enjoyed my time playing this.

Make Room by spooncats 2023-10-03T19:57:51Z

Lovely little gem of a submission here. Love the faces on the blocks, definitely had me chuckling at some of it, and surprisingly frustrating -- in a really good way. Fits the theme nicely, and levels are well designed, which is always a miracle in jams, I find :D

Bit Golf by badcop 2023-10-03T22:29:06Z

This is a really innovative submission, that filled me with an immense sense of dread -- and I mean that in a really good way! The atmosphere was incredibly well put together, and the puzzles creative and definitely unique. A really solid entry, great job!

need i say more.png need i say more?

Loved all of this -- one thing is that there's no penalty for just mashing space bar, so the jellyfish added no problem. But the music, graphics, humour -- it's all sublime. Amazing entry.

Feng Shui Struggles by Nozomu57 2023-10-08T12:22:16Z

Honestly, you described it perfectly: let the misery begin (I mean that in a good way). Really fun stuff, and just annoying enough to where I loved it, especially the final puzzle -- if only it were that easy :')

Minefield Rehearsal by yifengqing 2023-10-07T12:13:08Z

Really clever concept here, and a thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. Only things I found annoying were the lack of descriptions for skills, as well as the font, which I found difficult to read. Nonetheless, the concept is really innovative, and most definitely fits with the theme -- a great twist on a timeless classic :)

TOBISHA by aerial 2023-10-08T11:53:24Z

Awesome entry here. I loved the sound design and lighting effects, which created an overall really ominous (but welcome) mood and atmosphere to the game. Difficulty is definitely something that I found on the easy side, as I ended up sticking with the same renters throughout the entirety of my playthroughs, but nontheless I definitely enjoyed myself here, and it's a solid interpretation of the theme. Good stuff :)

Installing Engine by Kinami 2023-10-03T19:44:39Z

A solid game with a bunch of hidden secrets, and also reigniting pain. lot's of pain :D

Circles: Square dodge Twice by Crami 2023-10-07T12:35:06Z

Really solid entry here. I loved how initially simple it seems -- just dodge the circles -- but overall has a surprising amount of depth provided via parrying and dashing. I felt the difficulty was quite well balanced as well; it was definitely tough, but never felt unfair. The graphics are simple but really effective, and everything feels well put together. One thing I would say is that "snappier" movement for the player might work better, but that also might just be a personal preference, and would definitely make the game easier than it is, which might end up negatively affecting it. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed myself here, great job!
