Loved this twist on minesweeper! Good job :D

Nice concept you got there, very different, and I like the hand-drawing graphics. But it took me a while to figure out how an active skill would be activated, it'd be nice to include that in the rules as well.

very cool twist on mine sweeper

Minefield Rehearsal.png Interesting twist, pretty well executed too.

I didn't think the chalk-like graphics really went with the theme or with anything else? They do look nice, and consistent throughout the game, but what does chalk have to do with limited space, or mines, or cars?

I got a few glitches, too: I was never able to use the Wrench skill or the Car-Shield skill, they never had a number of use and I couldn't select them. Also in the screenshot, you see that I only have one car, but when that car exploded later I still had one car (then I died when that exploded).

IMHO, it's annoying to have to hold down space to send cars, that's the "main feature", the thing you do most. I suggest moving the control tower by simply left-clicking the yellow squares, then using WASD to send cars.

As others said, you need descriptions for what the skills do before you make people choose. I still don't know what the Wrench and Car-Shield do, and only vaguely understand the sonar.

I know this sounds critical, but I really did have a good time flexing my old Minesweeper skills. That third level is a challenge! Good job 👍

Thanks for playing our game.

yifengqing 2023-10-07 02:26

@greytyphoon Thank you for your valuable evaluation of our works. Regarding the problems you encounter, you can view the description of skills and how to use skills by right-click on a skill. Passive skills do not need to be actively used. We have updated our YouTube video to explain our game in detail, if you have any other questions you can watch the video to be answered.

Cool concept!

How many skills are there? I think I saw five: - Armored Car - Exploding Car - Expand walkable area - Safely reveal any tile - Retrieve arrows without them being destroyed

yifengqing 2023-10-07 11:13

@steffo We designed nine skills, including one default skill, five active skills, and three passive skills.

Default skill you must have experienced. Its logo is an arrow.

The other three are: - Single-direction scan(Select any direction for the character to scan and uncover all plots without mines in that direction.) - Bomb disposal expert(Select a flagged plot, clear the mines, and uncover the plot. Recalculate the surrounding numbers. If there are no mines, directly uncover the plot. ) - Cannonball Strike(Uncover a 3*3 area. If there are mines in the area, the car will not be lost. )

Really clever concept here, and a thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. Only things I found annoying were the lack of descriptions for skills, as well as the font, which I found difficult to read. Nonetheless, the concept is really innovative, and most definitely fits with the theme -- a great twist on a timeless classic :)

Very nice implementation of the theme with the classic minesweeper recipe. It was a really nice touch these new added mechanics! Good job my friend! Keep up!

Very interesting to find another minesweeper-like game from this ludum dare. Maybe a little too complicated for my smoll brains ( :') ) but good job nevertheless! And the art style is nice

kokil 2023-10-09 16:58

@minjutin Thanks for your love for our game! I also enjoyed the Minesweeper-like game you made for this ludum dare,it's so interseting and brings me a delightful experience.

The cars and arrows makes exploring tedious. Without the other skills it would be almost the same as plaing regular minesweeper. Ok it limits the squares you can reveal, but unless you are doing a risky guess it does not prevent you to reveal the squares that you know they are clear.

The other skills are welcome jokers when you are stuck. I think that the game could work with regulat click-to-reveal plus the skills, and cars replaced with lives.

The music is quite repetitive so I ended up muting the sound.

evilmurlock 2023-10-10 12:50

Nice, game concept, its a bit hard to see the arrows and the clunky are a bit akward, with how you have to hold space first and then press wasd to send a car, or with how you have to click on a skill to deselect it first before you can select another. But otherwise its good

balimaarthebassfish 2023-10-12 07:13

Cute little twist on the minesweeper classic. Solid work! I felt maybe the music was out of place but aside from that I dont have anything really to criticise!

lereveur 2023-10-12 16:21

At first I was a little dubious on the idea, as I'm too much used to classic minesweeper, and I didn't see how those new constraints could be fun in any way. But after playing it, I can see all the challenge and fun you added with that take of the theme. I reached only the 3rd (or maybe 4th) level before losing, but it took me time, as I was challenged to change drastically my way of thinking the deduction process. Also, I like very much the art idea of representing the game as chalk on a blackboard. So, this is a solid entry you get here, guys, very well done!

Very interesting concept that works quite well. The mechanics are quite extensive but easy enough to learn. Well done!
