LD42 — Running out of space

Runnink out of Space by Aurel300 2018-08-18T14:48:43Z

AWESOME!

Not being a native english speaker, I had some trouble with some parts, but the walkthrough helped a lot. Very well done!

(Try to rate some more games so you get the exposure you deserve too! :) )

Ludum Dare to be Messy! by jharler 2018-08-14T13:59:19Z

Something isn't working with the textures on my computer... Here's the [log.txt](https://gist.github.com/Steffo99/a3243c0e7244df24371993da6ce58811).

Ludum Dare to be Messy! by jharler 2018-08-14T14:42:38Z

@jharler Glad to have helped! ^^

Bleach Beach by Steffo 2018-08-14T10:36:53Z

@edgelord I'll try making a WebGL build right now. Please wait...

Bleach Beach by Steffo 2018-08-14T11:03:07Z

@edgelord An experimental WebGL build is now available! Please play it in full-screen mode, or the interface and the camera will get messed up, as it wasn't planned during development. :stuck_out_tongue:

Bleach Beach by Steffo 2018-08-14T14:39:20Z

@freetomax the sea, the fishing space, is running out (draining).

Bleach Beach by Steffo 2018-08-15T10:09:44Z

@inferture I did that when I first added it, but then I saw that itch wouldn't allow the player to go fullscreen, and since without fullscreen the interface is pretty buggy, I decided it would be better to just provide the HTML5 page download. Thanks anyways! ^^

Bleach Beach by Steffo 2018-08-15T12:09:21Z

@miracl It's intended, I'd like players to prioritize the Windows version if possible because the WebGL version was built after the end of the jam and contains some interface bugs.

Bleach Beach by Steffo 2018-08-18T14:54:46Z

@ventura:

> I thougth that I could use the arpoon to attach to places, that would be cool :)

Actually, @sensei 's original idea included the attaching harpoon, but we discarded it when we changed the physics code, since the original one was [a bit bugged](https://gfycat.com/ArcticThriftyCurassow). :P

space sucks by drkr 2018-08-14T09:56:00Z

YOUR GAME SUCKS!!!1!! Just kidding

Pretty nice game, but I think that it would benefit a lot from a smaller play area such as the one in the tutorial, so it would be easier for the player to strategically build his terrain.

Anti-Automata by thegunmaster 2018-08-14T10:19:42Z

Fun game! Too bad it gets laggy at higher multipliers, or I would have kept on playing for quite some time...

Highscore

All The Things! by Snowdrama 2018-08-18T09:07:46Z

Score

Great execution and nice wireframe graphics!

I'd suggest adding more complex shapes as furniture, as in Tetris... The game gets a bit too easy with only 1x1 and 1x3 pieces

Vita Magicae by Anuke 2018-08-15T21:37:18Z

Really fun game and beautiful graphics!

I didn't get how it was connected to the theme, though... Did I miss something?

Vertex by MiracL 2018-08-14T21:10:49Z

High Score

Fun and addicting game, it gets quite easy when you get the hang of it!

However, it took me a while to understand what I had to do to get points, and I didn't expect the game to start immediatly without a menu.

Anyways, well done!

Pre Alpha Build by PlusMinus 2018-08-15T11:00:25Z

My Base

One of the best games I played. Very well done!

A Fight on the Waves by MarkoPoloDev 2018-08-14T13:32:20Z

I can't play your game because Windows says some libraries (VCRUNTIME140_APP.dll and MSVCP140_APP.dll) are missing. Can you help?

A Fight on the Waves by MarkoPoloDev 2018-08-14T20:42:44Z

@markopolodev Thanks! I was finally able to play your game.

I enjoyed it! The bullet hell / endless runner / parkour combination worked well!

The only major flaw I found was that the islands loop too quickly... I think it could be solved by randomizing the terrain placement.

Anyways, well done :)

Falling Ecosystem by sprvrn 2018-08-13T23:26:14Z

Fun game! I got to more than 3000 points!

Just a question: what are the blue tiles? Is it water?

Personal Space Invaders by The_Icy_One 2018-08-18T08:55:32Z

High Score

Nice game! I didn't understand that you could be killed by your own lasers and got a few game overs without understanding why... I'd suggest adding a note somewhere or making the cause of your death clearer in game.

Clot! by Ghoster 2018-08-18T08:48:11Z

Really orginal take on the match-3 genre!

Space Chase by halomegames 2018-08-18T09:35:26Z

Good graphics and audio!

I'd suggest making the colliders of the planet larger, to count in the gravitational pull.

Also, there's an exploit where you can launch horizontally and you'll always hit a planet (maybe away from the expanding sun, giving you more time / infinite time to act)...

Countdown by Elnu 2018-08-16T23:40:37Z

Interesting and fun game! I got to 80 seconds ^^ Just... please change that jump sound. It felt horrible :/

Leaving Room by LastLeaf 2018-08-18T09:27:03Z

I loved this!

The simple story is perfect for the simple mechanics, and all the levels are challenging enough to be satisfying to beat!

The best game I've played for this jam! Really well done!

Iceberg Fall by TDog 2018-08-18T09:42:06Z

My time

Good game! It reminds me of a minigame in a Mario Party (was it 8?)...

Iceberg Fall by TDog 2018-08-18T09:44:29Z

Oh, I forgot. There's something wrong in the particles beneath the penguin's feet... Is the penguin the parent of the particle system?

Floodtown by Sita 2018-08-15T13:50:10Z

My score

Pretty fun game! It took me a while to understand what to do, but once I got the hang of the game, it became an interesting challenge.

Stuck! by chkkll 2018-08-13T23:40:16Z

Awesome!

Reminds me of trying to get off the bus with nobody willing to move... At least in your game people are willing to fill the empty spaces :joy:

7:30 am by matzetoni 2018-08-14T09:39:56Z

Nice minigame!

You should be aware that there's a way to cheese it (exactly like in real life):

passenger_simulator_2018-08-14_11-37-19.png If you immediatly start running between the people and the rail tracks, you'll be guaranteed a place on the train car!

Slime, Blood and Pain by Steffo 2019-04-30T18:31:10Z

@killedbyapixel It's exactly what I thought an hour after publishing the game! :joy: Attack mode is there because we wanted to add ranged weapons, so we added some code for it, but we never finished it... And we never got around removing modes either!

Slime, Blood and Pain by Steffo 2019-05-01T23:09:12Z

@vinegarlove macOS and Linux (x64) builds were added! Enjoy :)

(Also, nice Aigis you've got there!)

PizzoTyping by Carpin 2019-05-03T15:51:57Z

Pretty fun typing game! Since its setting is Italy, I think using Italian words would have been a cool mechanic... Even though I'm a bit biased, being from Italy :flag_it: myself... :)

Rainbow Rampage - Twitch Overlay Game by Instafluff 2019-05-01T15:35:18Z

Creating a stream-overlay-game is a pretty unique concept for Ludum Dare, so congratulations for the idea!

Game is pretty simple... I'd lower a bit the voting time, though... I think that's 60 seconds is a bit too much.

@michaelsonbritt @twenty5clocks @roidz You can play it if you have a Twitch account by configuring the link appropriately and by sending chat messages in your channel, even if you're not streaming!

Pomidorko! by z0rlog 2019-04-30T20:38:12Z

Getting up here and finding out there was nothing was a bit disappointing... :sob: :joy:

Cute game, though!

I think spikes have some kind of hitbox problems, as they removed a different amount of hp-coins every time i touched them...

Nine Lives by Evan M 2019-05-02T23:25:44Z

Nice game, but a bit too difficult...

The halo spawning _above_ the head of the cat makes sense from a logical standpoint, but it makes positioning it correctly quite hard... Also, the cat sometimes seems to slip off the halo...

Deal With The Devil by Sangemdoko 2019-04-30T10:04:30Z

Pretty good game! Having to decide on... how to lose my health made for some interesting choices. Replayability however might suffer because of this. Can't really comment on audio and mood, since I played it with the sound off. Overall, good job!

Life Pact by jaoel 2019-04-30T15:16:10Z

I moved from playing [Enter the Gungeon](https://store.steampowered.com/app/311690/Enter_the_Gungeon/) to playing this, and I felt the movement, camera and aim mechanics were definitely solid! Well done.

However... I didn't understand the point of most of the items in the shop. Is the slingshot (lol nice sound) a downgrade?

Pretty fun though! ^^

get coins get older by MoFish 2019-04-30T15:43:32Z

Appearently a platformer, but actually a **puzzle game**! Clever!

The character animations are funny and appropriate (the old man walking on the sword is gold :joy:), and the mechanics of the game work, even if they are a bit... raw (attacking through the wall to kill a monster is a bit immersion-breaking).

Well done!

Life Exchange by TwoWolf 2019-04-30T15:21:46Z

@twowolf Sorry, the [link](https://two-wolf.itch.io/ld44-lifeheart-exchange) still isn't working...

Set the game page visibility to Public!

Life Exchange by TwoWolf 2019-04-30T16:03:21Z

@twowolf It works now!

The sprites (both the tiles and the characters) are very good and consistent, so well done in the graphics department!

I think that the game is a bit too hard, though... I kept getting swarmed by enemies, without getting chances to counterattack, as they respawned really quickly. I think that a possible solution might be lowering enemies' HP... Still, shooting fireballs was enjoyable anyways.

What were the _Your life is currency_ mechanics? I didn't get far enough in the game to see those.

Glory of the Gods by vladirien 2019-05-02T22:49:40Z

Spectators comments are awesome and very funny!

The dash feels good to use, and is a nice mechanic; however, it allows to easily kite enemies, making getting to God and beyond a bit too easy :)

Overall, well done! :D

LD45 — Start with nothing

Gravity Fusion by Steffo 2019-10-08T16:49:52Z

@jlv I agree, the Anti-G Field is a bit too weak, but I couldn't find a way to make it stronger without having big Particles going everywhere and causing a lot of lag...

Anyways, thanks for playing our game and for leaving a comment!

Gravity Fusion by Steffo 2019-10-08T16:58:46Z

@hellper Well, if I remember correctly, our `SpawnOnClick` component should have a "Enable Hold" attribute that does exactly what you suggested :P

It was planned as an upgrade, but while testing, I found out that the physics got pretty weird while it was activated, so we ended up not adding it.

Gravity Fusion by Steffo 2019-10-08T17:14:01Z

@erwyn Oops! @MaxSensei was right when he told me somebody would miss the upgrade button message and play the whole game without it :joy:

I think the decay system we developed (small particles disappear over time if there are higher tier particles present) was a good trick to reduce massively the lag, as emulating gravity is quite expensive `O(n²)`...

Huh? "Your mom"s aren't supposed to vanish into nothing, they merge into a Tier 8 Particle three times as large (with this sprite 1_Protone_Nucleo.png )... Yours probably was so large and so close to the black hole taht it got immediatly eaten :P ...

Gravity Fusion by Steffo 2019-10-08T18:48:58Z

@sneakyfox Whoops! I think you're the first person that played by avoiding merging particles :P

Since computing gravity is expensive, we have a decay system in place that despawn small astray particles, but since you spawned them almost everywhere without getting to an higher tier, no particles decayed, causing a quadratically-growing lag :P

Gravity Fusion by Steffo 2019-10-09T18:46:57Z

@sir-galloy-de-fierpate well, you can build stuff very far away from the black hole so they won't be affected by gravity :)

Gravity Fusion by Steffo 2019-10-14T17:57:23Z

In case you were wondering, this game was _obviously_ foreshadowing [Fortnite's latest event](https://www.reddit.com/r/FortNiteBR/comments/dhe4x8/season_10_final_event_for_anyone_who_missed_it_no/):

Uhh, I hear Plants vs. Zombies music. Since I'm pretty sure you aren't [Laura Shigihara](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laura_Shigihara) (and so that you haven't made the music yourself), please opt out from the Audio category!

Negation by gasgiant 2019-10-09T16:28:48Z

Great job with the game, though! :D

Battle for Kyrrdon by oillen 2020-04-25T21:39:50Z

Good job, even if it is an incomplete prototype! :D

How To Keep The Dance Floor Alive? Answer: Alcohol by ultrarat 2020-04-27T23:29:02Z

Nice game!

It took me a while to understand what to do, but I had fun when I got it! :D

I wish there was an option to turn off the motion blur... I hate that effect in all games, and it always is the first thing I turn off when playing something... :/

There's something wrong with the pivot point of the player character: I think it's off-center...?

Server Simulator by codinghusi 2020-04-26T00:47:31Z

Excellent idea! I had a lot of fun finding out the best strategy for this!

I found a strat to stay alive indefinitely:

- A professional firewall - A six-port switch - 5 three-port switches - 10 Serverstations

Just a question: I didn't hear any audio in the game. Why did you not opt out from the Audio category?

A Bzon Warehouse by wheybags 2020-04-26T01:00:44Z

I totally didn't expect a typing game! :open_mouth:

Great job, the fast pace made for a challenging game.

The only problem was the bathroom meter. It was far away from the gameplay area, so it was a bit hard to keep track of it while playing... I ended up failing 3 days because of that.

Soulbound by Fenderbate 2020-04-21T17:35:32Z

Nice!

It reminds me quite a bit of [Super Crate Box](https://store.steampowered.com/app/212800/Super_Crate_Box/). Have you ever played that? :)

Keep It Alight by Lamasaurus 2020-04-22T21:42:38Z

Does this platform have eyes, or is it a lighting bug? :joy:

Exceptional atmosphere!

Sounds, the dark cave, the sprites and the platforming mechanics combine to make an amazing (but short) game. Congratulations! :D

Keepin' It Charged by kubs 2020-04-23T16:21:03Z

 AMAZING! Great job, everyone! :D

 Only thing... The walljump detection felt a bit weird. [Maybe do what Celeste does and allow wall jump at a short distance from a wall?](https://twitter.com/MattThorson/status/1238338583297028099)

Save the Sun by JProclaimer 2020-04-21T22:32:16Z

Dunking asterorids into the Sun was never this fun!

Good job! :D

I love the _thunk_ sounds the asteroids make!

I think a clearer indicator of the Sun's temperature would have been good, the yellow radius felt... a bit weird...?

Party Spirit by 7ko 2020-04-26T00:32:35Z

Nice! The controls remind me a bit of [Crypt of the Necrodancer](https://store.steampowered.com/app/247080/Crypt_of_the_NecroDancer/)... Good job!

Piggy Defense by Yskuma 2020-04-22T21:33:48Z

 Cool and quite complex idea for a tower defense! Well done! :D

 The tiles on which you can build are a bit small... It would be a good idea to make them larger!

 The targeting algorithm the towers use feels a bit weird...?

 Did the game crash after I ran out of lives or was it closing itself intended?

:bulb: A restart key would be very useful for Ludum Dare testers that mess up their design :P

Plants To Grow by foxtrotluna 2020-04-22T21:24:31Z

 Really cool idea for a relaxing idle game!

 I like that each plant has its own name, such as "Freida (Basil)"

 Recycling does not give back money as implied by the icon.

 The timer on the wall runs faster than the real-world time. What is it for? Is it some kind of day-night cycle?

:bulb: A cheat code to instantly get some hearts would be amazing for people that want to play your game but are short on time! :D

 How is it connected to the _Keep it alive_ theme?

Bond Wire by Ebediam 2020-04-22T21:16:43Z

Pretty cool concept!

The grappling hook feels a bit weird, but it's quite fun to use

I had a hard time aiming at the suspended blue boxes, as they were too small

Love the GLaDOS-like voce in the tutorial at the beginning! :robot:

It was one of the experimental mechanics we tried, we wanted it to be kind of similar to clicking the moving circles in osu!...

It probably didn't work out really well, though, if you found it annoying :joy:

> I liked the idea, although the way it was implemented was a bit too trial and error for me. I often had to replay the whole thing because I didn’t quite grasp what the buttons do in time haha.

You can probably cheat with F6 and F7 if you find it too hard :)

I liked designing that puzzle a lot too :)

Looping for lööps by Steffo 2020-10-06T16:22:51Z

@unluckyninja:

> Control is a a little weird, it jumps at a relatively slow speed but falls very quick. Hard to climb 1 block high.

If you release up while jumping you fall down faster... You should **Hold ↑** to make higher jumps... Have you tried that? :)

> Fail = Replay as a penalty is too heavy. > You should probably make player lose some loops instead of kill (like Sonic?) or base on health point when touching the saws.

I agree, but time was short and it was either that or absolutely nothing, so we went for that. I love the Sonic rings idea, there's even the similarity with the rings and the loops!

> Theme seems irrelevant from the jam’s perspective.

If you weren't able to jump correctly you might have missed that the levels loop after a while, and you can take different paths there. You can see the "loop-clock" in the upper-right corner.

> And having to solve dozens of puzzles in time reminds me of WarioWare.

The game might have been unconsciously inspired by Wario Land 4, as I love that game, but I didn't think of that explicitly.

Good job on creating a small TTRPG with so little time :)

Blastaround by andrew-marsh 2020-10-09T16:18:11Z

The normal difficulty is quite easy, but the hard is actually very hard, and is where the game shines!

The time loop mechanic (and the friendly fire) really adds a lot of depth to the game. Good job!

TimeFabric by raoz 2020-10-06T15:52:41Z

Fancy puzzles!

I already saw the same "ghost" idea in many other games, but this is the first time I've seen physics integrated with them. As you might expect, I loved the wrecking ball level or the "catapult" levels :)

Stuck Running by Life_Lich 2020-10-09T16:04:47Z

Very interesting mechanics! You basically made a puzzle-roguelike, which is quite unusual to see and may be pretty fun to play once more content is added!

(Why did you opt out from almost all grading categories?)

I can't see the correlation to the theme, though. How is it related to loops?

Singularity by nsadie 2020-10-06T16:57:28Z

Very clever concept for a board game, and really good job with the mood (both music and graphics), but the rate of push cards should be increased a lot, as both me and the bot got stuck for the whole game in the middle of the board because only pull cards spawned.

@angiemon

> honestly it’s embarrassing Unity hasn’t fixed this by now.

Our game is made in Godot, not in Unity, no need to hate on them ;P

Anyways, it's not a bug, it's working as intended: it is not the responsibility of neither the game engine nor your browser to give e`x`ecution permissions to the file you just downloaded, as it would be a serious security vulnerability!

You should decide whether to trust or not the downloaded file, then grant it the `x` permission yourself!

Not having a Mac, I'm not sure of how OSX displays the Unix permissions on its user interface; this is how the same permission is granted on KDE, which uses the same permission system:

Particle Clash by Steffo 2022-10-04T14:55:31Z

> Is it possible to get a full board “solved”? > > —@incd021

Not always! Most of the early "tutorial" boards are fully solvable, except for a few which are deliberately unsolvable to teach players that in this game they should not aim for perfection but for the best they can achieve.

After the tutorial boards are finished the following boards are randomly generated, so both solvable and unsolvable ones may come up.

First thing: you have rated a lot of games, so you're almost on top of the "Classic" game queue, but for some reason you're very low on the "Smart" queue, which is the one almost everybody uses to rate games.

Since the "Smart" queue uses a ~~stupid~~ algorithm where your positioning depends on the hearts you've received from other developers in comments on their game pages, I'd suggest you to leave a small comment on every game you play, so that your game may get more attention!

Second thing: my review!

Now that I'm finally able to play the game, I'm also able to review it!

I agree with everyone else: it's a great twist on the [tile-matching](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tile-matching_video_game) genre!

Being able to match up to two gems made it a bit too easy, though, as all I had to do to cheese the game was to mash everywhere in the board to find a match: a cooldown between invalid clicks could be great!

Mashing clicks made me find a weird bug:

There's an empty space between the gems

Pablo's piñata party by Njitnelav 2022-10-13T17:06:28Z

Yay! I saved the Piñata Party!

Now, my review:

- your core gameplay loop is fun, and controlling the character was pretty good! - not knowing when the Piñata was going to burst or how many cacti were needed to pop it made me get a frustrating game over the first time I played - graphics are... very programmer-y, but it's a good thing that they are all consistent and at you have a walk cycle which contributes well to the feeling of the character controls - something weird is going on with your music: there was some kind of background noise in it probably caused by your recording method, and additionally it seemed like another song was playing at the same time? - I appreciated the explaination of why we have to pop the piñata, seemed funny to me - the mood, like the graphics, is pretty consistent and works well

Overall... **pretty good job** for your second entry!

The atmosphere for the game was good, especially with the fire slowly running out: maybe next time consider **using a floating point value for the fire**, so that it runs out smoothly!

Since chopping an unit of wood takes 1 second, and the fire consumes 1 unit per second, you're **doomed to run out of wood after some time**: is that intended?

> online leaderboard is good but having some kind of a fail state or hard goals to challenge the player with would be cool —@shp

One of the ideas we had to challenge the player was a rising and falling tide that would reveal platforms to the less skilled players while allowing the fastest bunnyhoppers to immediately get through them without having to wait. Sadly, we didn't fully implement it, as we pivoted to implementing the leaderboard, which seemed faster to do than redesigning the whole map

Pineapple Surf by Steffo 2023-01-17T08:05:12Z

@junglerally Bunnyhopping allows you to move much much faster than by walking (I usually get up to 15 km/h, which is triple the walking speed), and by doing so, allows you to gather seeds and pineapples much faster and in turn secure a higher place on the leaderboard!

Feedback

Game

Oooh, a **visual programming puzzle game with action elements**, since monsters move in real time! That's interesting! Have you ever played a game by [Zachtronics](https://zachtronics.itch.io/), by chance? Programming puzzles is their specialty (and solitaires, I guess?)!

I had to stop playing before the last level since I got **stuck after landing on a pause tile**, just like @archfan7411 said.

A good idea to make playing the game smoother would be **hotkeys to pick up arrows**: `W` would pick up , `A` would pick up :arrow_left:, and so on, making placing them easier!

So... shiny... :sunflower: :gem:

My progress

I managed to **complete the game on normal** with 10/7 gems on the third level!

Feedback

Game

The **atmosphere and mood were great**! Your depiction of a foggy landscape was very realistic, and the **monsters dwelling there were a perfect fit**; the **music too fit the mood of the game** very well!

The **camera pixelification** _(not sure on the correct term tbh, even if we used it in our own game)_ **was done really well**!

Good idea **positioning the player at the bottom of the screen** instead of the center to give more screen space to the surrounding environment and allowing you to think about what route to take to collect gems!

On the first playthrough for some reason **I missed that extra gems would convert to upgrades**. Not sure why, I immediately noticed the message the second time...

A **jump key would've been great** for those rare cases where gems would [get stuck floating on rocks](https://i.imgur.com/nkLzoDg.png)!

**Enemies ended up being a bit harmless** (on Normal difficulty), maybe making them faster would've helped to put the pressure on the player... Are they faster on higher difficulties?

Overall, amazing job!

Game

Fun and strategic gameplay in deciding what to plant in advance, which can be easily extended by adding more actions to battles requiring different resources!

The game crashed right before the final boss battle! :(((

Seeds Must Grow! by Neon Glass 2023-01-12T18:24:58Z

The seeds... they have grown! :evergreen_tree:

Feedback

Game

Things get **really hectic and challenging** in the later levels: I like it!

**Swapping tiles is a bit uncomfortable**, as it can mess up other plants you have already set up, or it can be cancelled by dragging a tile on a unmovable one.

I'm not super-convinced on the double-timer approach, **you can find the perfect place for a plant yet fail it anyways because you didn't leave there long enough**! It makes sense as a mechanic, but it doesn't feel really fun...

I noticed a small bug: in the pause menu, **the Main Menu button doesn't seem to work**.

Larger levels can get the **bottom part cropped from the game window**.

Both **graphics and sounds are consistent** and adequate to the game's style!

Overall: **great job!**

Impressive UI and presentation for a jam game! You even added a leaderboard!

Mechanics are fun! Having an unique upgrade for every enemy type was a great idea! (I would've appreciated a damage upgrade of some kind, though, by the end of wave 9 I felt a bit underpowered compared to the large amount of health of "Shield" enemies...)

Music is a bit repetitive and not too much fitting to the game's mood, in my opinion... Maybe something more fast-paced would be better?

The camera rotation effect felt a bit weird and almost gave me motion sickness... I understood what you were trying to do and I think that it is a good idea, but something is off in the implementation, and I'm not sure of what.

Your gameplay is the same as the one of [Sea Salt](https://store.steampowered.com/app/983350/Sea_Salt/), but with much better controls! I like it a lot, but both games suffer from the same problems, for example that controlling large swarms is frustrating, while it should feel empowering!

Small complaint about controls: I would've appreciated dragging with the middle mouse click, in addition to the right mouse click, it feels a lot more natural and similar to an RTS...

The atmosphere was great, and I feel like the game fit the theme very well!

Good job!

Picking Apples 1.3 by Síria Games 2023-01-10T08:10:27Z

Nice first game! :apple:

Feedback

Game

I felt that it was pretty weird that the **camera couldn't move up or down**, but just left and right: is it a limitation of your engine, or is it deliberate?

Instead of making the timer on the user interface count up to 120 s / 60 s, you could make it **count down to 0 s**, so that it's intuitive that you have to collect all apples before the time runs out, and you don't need to explain it in the tutorial!

The **second level is brutally harsh**: if you fall off once, you have to start over from the first level! Maybe consider having the player respawn somewhere, and only sending them back to the main menu if the time runs out!

Distribution

You classified your game as a *Mod* on Itch.io: that's for modifications to already existing games, like the ones that go on the [Steam Workshop](https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/). The correct category should be *Game*, as your game is not dependent on anything else to function!

Harvesting trees was **fun and thematically appropriate**! Not sure why my golden trees never got any snow on them, though.

**Graphics were nice, but not very consistent**: birds and planets had a completely different style... Did two different people work on them?

The ***Shooting tree tier 1* was pretty much useless** even in the early game, it never managed to hit anything

I don't have much to complain about: it's a **very good game** overall!

The corn being cut provided a **very satisfying visual effect**, and is a **very interesting mechanic on its own**, comparable to coins in the Mario Kart games! I wish the Grand Prix mode was finished so I would've been able to see the total mayhem all Harvs would have caused...

**The cows are a bit difficult to see** in the middle of all that corn: I'd add a dark border around them like you've done with the corn meter, so that they'd be easier to spot!

Maybe **the camera could be improved** a bit as well: keeping the player always at the center is somewhat a waste of screen space, as seeing what's behind you in a racing game is not important as seeing what's in front!

It was **very hard to understand the mechanics** directly from the game, though. Perhaps a better UI is needed?

I loved how the **effects of every card were thematically meaningful**! I didn't really enjoy how almost **everything makes you draw two more cards**, which eventually would end up getting burned without you having almost any control over it.

It seems it's really hard to find a work in this economy... Maybe **more "Work" cards in the starting deck** would've been nice?

A well made and polished tower defense!

It initially seemed pretty weird that money is deducted when a tower is picked up from the shop, instead of when it is placed, but then I noticed that towers could be sold for their full price, and it started making sense.

The gatling gun feels a bit weak compared to the flamethrower, especially for that price... Please buff it? ;P

Is it intended that the more towers you have, the less wheat grows and the less income you get? It feels a bit unusual for a tower defense game, usually you get more money the further you get in the waves...

@igor-kingamer Thanks! We tried to tweak Godot's physics engine to handle the most coins possible, but when too many coins pile up they start to intersecate each other and the game starts lagging a lot...

Swear Jar by Steffo 2023-10-11T16:46:39Z

@woona I... may have tried hitting my phone on the side as well to get some coins to be unstuck.

As for swearing... Not sure, let's ask @sensei, who thought of the name of the game!

Swear Jar by Steffo 2023-10-11T16:51:09Z

@prutty The game crashed when you produced a gem? That's strange, it's the first time I hear of it happening. Was it the Jam or the Post-Jam version?

Swear Jar by Steffo 2023-10-17T21:53:31Z

@rossk You didn't buy it, you entered placement mode for it!

To purchase it you have to remove the necessary amount of coins from the jar!

Cyberframe EDEN by kiririn51 2023-10-06T19:44:18Z

Hi from [the fediverse](https://c.im/@Spitko/111168660997964380)!

Amazing game all around! Reminds me a lot of the early game of [Slay the Spire](https://store.steampowered.com/app/646570/Slay_the_Spire/), but with cyberframes instead of slimes!

A few things that I think would've been really useful are:

- a surrender option for those fights you stand no chance of winning (maybe with it not rewarding a new frame piece if not enough turns have passed) - a few extra card animations, as while the current one with the card detaching and launching towards the enemy is beautiful, it gets a bit boring after a few fights - a fast forward option for animations, for the same reason as above (just like Fast Mode in Slay the Spire!)

Anyways, well done!

Push Away by fraanns 2023-10-15T16:57:23Z

Simple but enjoyable!

I feel I might have skipped many levels by finding easier solutions than the intended ones, though

Very original!

Limited Larry and the Lost Intern by Achiru 2023-10-04T18:03:20Z

Fiyah concept!

A bit slow to play, though, and the absence of a tracker to mark what you've already read makes things much more difficult...

I'd recommend adding a guide to allow LD Jam raters to get through the whole game after they've gotten one ending so that they're able to properly rate you in everything!

Cosmic Exodus: Race Against the Void by merc37 2023-10-05T19:58:10Z

Tiny but fun!

Reminds me a lot of FTL: Faster Than Light

Space Cargo, Ltd. by ditam 2023-10-06T21:33:51Z

Really liked the game!

Found a few bugs you may want to fix:

- "Buy a new ship" dialogs stack on each other - Scrolling down the web page causes pieces to be misaligned relative to the mouse - Planets can produce delivery requests to themselves

Also, an idea to improve even further the user interface: do cargo types have an effect on the gameplay? If not, a simple and great improvement would be color-coding the packages of the same color as the planet they need to go to!

Oh, and you may want to rename "Trapana" to "[Trapani](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trapani)" :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Trying a new format for my comments: **stream of thoughts** while playing the game!

Stream of thoughts

Level 1

Ooh, so that's how it works, it's a bit like ice puzzles!

The playback of the action feels a bit slow... it would be nice if it was a bit faster!

Level 2

How does this spinny thing work...? Oh, it rotates things relative to itself!

Level 3

Huh? Just one goal block? Is getting a single piece of glass there enough?

Buttons feel a bit slow to press...

It seemed like the glass shape broke for no reason at a certain point. Weird...

Level 4

This looks hard...

Oh, it actually is easier than I thought. If only the glass piece didn't move so *slowwwwwww*...

The rotating animation is smooth and satisfying though...

Wait, maybe it's not so easy. OHHHH, I can rotate the rotators!!

Ok, this takes way too long. I'll try another level.

Level A1

Oh, fancy! Two pieces at once! Nice and clean! Done.

Level A2

...it's still locked?!? I guess this is it, then!

Comment

Clever puzzle game overall, but I'm too tired to think it through...

Desperately needs to be faster in the Playing Phase!

Terraforming Chess by Sir Rail Of Gun 2023-10-04T00:37:35Z

Interesting concept!

What's the difference between walls and pits?

I didn't manage to understand from your description.

*(Won't rate the game because I didn't have anyone to play the game with.)*

RAMpage by Blue Pin Studio 2023-10-06T21:58:03Z

Are you supposed to be able to stack multiple files with each other?

It seemed deliberate, as it would increase their power in exchange for them dying all at once...

ADEPTH by MarkElliott 2023-10-07T10:31:35Z

Heya!

I can't rate this, as I keep accidentaly closing the game by pressing Ctrl+W, which closes the browser tab...

Please change the crouch key!

(And maybe lower the mouse camera sensitivity a bit, it's really, really high...)

Parked? by o_sim 2023-10-07T11:15:11Z

Impressive amount and variety of levels!

Shotgun hockey by Gastar 2023-10-06T21:40:36Z

@digitaldude555 Was thinking of the same thing... Who gave a shotgun to the Getting Over It guy!? :gun:

Auto-Pilot by woona 2023-10-07T10:58:48Z

This was absolutely great!

Due to how the enemies attack (a straight piercing line), it feels like defensive ships are useless... I think the best strategy is just to buy as many *Destroyers* as you can without expanding the playing field too much.

There's a lot of space for expansion of the game just by making more, different attacks!

It would've been nice to have more choices for ship placement: either by allowing the movement of ships between rounds, or by allowing the player to choose the direction the grid should be expanded in.

Like all auto-battlers, I think this too would benefit by an income mechanic: "would you rather save money and take a chance at defeating the enemy, or go all-in and make sure to beat it, but possibly not having enough money do then defeat the final boss?"

Citra's In Fact Actually 2048 by chitoyuu 2023-10-04T17:19:13Z

Really really really like the concept and the concept of how it would have been executed, but the game itself is a bit empty

Well done anyways!

High Caffeine Black Tea by SLEEPYMENACE 2023-10-04T17:35:27Z

Nice game!

The character's hitbox is a bit too large for a bullet hell game, I struggled to navigate between bullets even when no caffeine was there...

The shrinking screen mechanic was nice!

A Restart screen would've been useful for when you run out of lives and want to play again!

Maxwell's Demon by TPace 2023-10-11T19:48:58Z

This was... quite an hard puzzle game!

I see you've entered in the audio category, but I didn't hear any audio coming from your game; is that a bug?

Limited Dimensions by Sovunia 2023-10-05T18:49:59Z

Graphics and concept are :ok_hand:

Having no checkpoints is a bit harsh, and in general the game feels a bit slow, as if it was running at 0.5× speed, which makes hitting spikes really painful :grimacing:

Speaking of spikes, this one has a bug which made me die twice by falling through the platform:

Limited Dimensions by Sovunia 2023-10-05T18:51:04Z

Is there audio I'm not hearing, or did you forget to opt out from the Audio category?

The mood you set was great, though!

Minefield Rehearsal by yifengqing 2023-10-07T10:24:44Z

Cool concept!

How many skills are there? I think I saw five: - Armored Car - Exploding Car - Expand walkable area - Safely reveal any tile - Retrieve arrows without them being destroyed

Simple but fun game! Got to 19 waves.

Reminds me a lot of Pokémon Ranger, which actually does the breaking the traceline thing you wanted to do pretty well (even though to do that in your game it would require a button to press)! Make sure to check it out for a couple ideas.

It took me a while to understand I wasn't supposed to encircle the cookies but instead protect them...!

Bosquet Bounce by najjaman 2024-05-03T23:04:13Z

@najjaman As long as you commend and rate other people's games, Ludum Dare automatically promotes your own game until you get some comments and ratings back :)

This is how I landed here in first place ;)

Bowl n' Bawls by Silliest Goose 2024-05-03T22:46:36Z

Pretty fun! (Even if I think I pretty much cheesed my way out of the whole game by alternating left and right click...)

The maze was an especially interesting concept; getting the *Bawls* out of it required a bit more strategy than the rest.

Loved the ending!

Star Stone by UngarBlapp 2024-05-03T23:02:27Z

Heya! It's me again!

Had fun playing your game, I can see big improvements compared to your previous one! :)

Well done!

---

Here are a few things I've noticed while playing.

Maybe this should be displayed on the first platform, not the second, as to get there you have to *double jump*, therefore you probably know that already :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The crow-swarm-summoning animation is really really cool and satisfying! I'm not sure why the crows sometimes go in the wrong direction, though.

microgames! [a game jam classic](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/keep-everything-alive-1)!

fun! i got to exactly 50 points...

*Treat Toss* is a run-ender lol, it's much more difficult than the other minigames

sort of hoped there would be a boss minigame at a certain point, like in warioware

a thing that i think would be important is to **list the basic controls in the game page**, so that players don't get caught off-guard when starting at first, like it happened with @a-priori!

Playing on Linux via Wine.

---

Oooh, I see there are many combos...!

I guess it would be helpful to have these listed on the game page, otherwise I'm just placing squares blindly.

It's true that it's fun to discover new combos on your own, but I guess it's not ideal in a competitive game?

Maybe having a list that you would uncover while playing

---

Uuuh, do a certain amount of squares in a row self-destruct or something?

---

Ummm, how did a 2x4 square turn into a cross?

---

Not a big fan of larger grids... Don't feel like they add much to the gameplay.

---

Crosses override each other, my cross factory dream is over :sob:

Closing thoughts: ***FUUUUUN!*** and original!

Hi from the fediverse, @fireslash!

Never thought intergalactic aluminum and uranium trade would be so much profitable! :money_mouth:

Endgame screenshot

Look, it's today in the game!

User interface

The user interface was pretty good and satisfying to click through, which is the main thing to get right in this kind of game!

It pausing the game when the trade select menu was open got more in the way than helped, though, as the main bottleneck was how fast I could click through trades...

Unique pilots

How many pilot images are there?

I seem to have rolled the same ones multiple times...

I think it would've been cool if pilot images were associated to an unique name and ability, instead of being random... My first two pilots had the same surname and I had initially assumed it was intentional, and started thinking of some headcanon like them being related in some way...

I spy references to Evangelion and *a certain other game* in the other players' screenshots :eyes:

Critters

Well, here are your *tiny creatures* for the theme, I assume! Hehe.

Music

The music was chill and fit very well with the vibe of the game :relaxed:

Overall

Very well done as always!

I loved the mood of the whole area!

I managed to find the Green Fairy, but then, while exploring with my newfound double-jump power, I fell out of bounds with no way of getting back up, and pretty much faced the choice of starting over or sitting there in the void...

Ahhhh! Minigolf roguelite...! Dangerously addicting and fun! Well done!

I can see people playing this for quite a while, but there are a couple things that in my opinion need to be changed:

- running out of ammo and just sitting there helpless in the map feels very bad; having some kind of reload would improve things a lot (a special cell, maybe?)

- more types of cells! right now, moving from a cell to the other is very easy most of the time. but what if some of them ***moved***? now you'd need to predict where it will be when you arrive there!

Interesting concept! Reminds me a lot of [Tricky Towers](https://store.steampowered.com/app/437920/Tricky_Towers/)...

The music and graphics really are appropriate, but I think that it would be better if the left and right arrow keys applied a force (like the up arrow) instead of torque (spinning the block around)...

Farm of Duty by Jima 2018-04-24T09:17:54Z

I liked this game!

The cube-berries remind me of [the Cuberries in Slime Rancher](http://slimerancher.wikia.com/wiki/Cuberry).

I was playing it with a friend beside me, and he said it would be cool to add some enemies to shoot at with the Seed Gun, so you would have to regrow the bullets you use.

Slime Battle Royale by ManBeardGames 2018-04-25T21:27:47Z

WINNER WINNER SLIMY DINNER?

I loved how you gave a different name to every slime: I started laughing as soon as I saw the first death message!

The game was fun, but since the enemy slimes don't actively engage you (unless you stand still) winning is too easy and almost pointless.

I think you chose the right music: I immediatly got hyped when I heard the drums!

Sounds also fit the mood of the game.

Overall, well done!
