LD35 — Shapeshift

One Letter Werewolf by tompudding 2016-05-01T21:51:00

Cool graphic style !

Phanto: The Elementalist by JayProg 2016-05-01T21:39:00

Very cool ! Good music and sounds ! Graphics are nice and original. Juicyness is nice. Just need an endless end with many guardians !!! X-P

Turbo Transform by Robber 2016-04-19T16:41:00

Really coooool ! Need more challenge, no pattern too near, but speed-up please ! :D (I'm a big fan of DDR & F-Zero, so it's slow for me ^^). The music is cool and need to be longer (it's look like a small loop).
Big GG !

anthropomorphic suspect by dunin 2016-04-20T08:39:00

Had fun here. I liked when the music theme starts when making the first combination even if the music theme stay a bit poor in time.

Shift the Shapes by austinsheep 2016-04-21T13:02:00

Nice take on Tetris kind of game. Not enough juiciness for me thought.

Nuit Blanche by MatLab 2016-04-22T10:37:00

Actually, there is no win condition, just exploration. The rabbit is a symbolic and weird addition, as a kind of goal, but I advice you to have fun with the platforms and see if you can go somewhere else. Anyway, thank you so much for playing and for the comments!

Shadow of the Red Hand by andyman404 2016-04-21T13:10:00

Impressive take on theme! I really love the way hands shape shift!

Powervoid by redcubegames 2016-05-01T21:52:00

I really like the mechanics of your puzzles. Great idea.

Skate Shifter by Chaoslab 2016-04-21T11:12:00

I didn't understand anything XD

Drip Motion by masterkrepta 2016-05-01T21:54:00

I didn't understand everything... ^^'

Catshift by ragnta 2016-04-21T10:49:00

Love the song

Exhuman by Arvydas 2016-05-01T22:14:00

Graphics is excelent and music is cool. But the concept is not original, level design is simple and it's very very very very difficult ! Shapeshift ?

Radiance by OverPoweredTeam 2016-04-19T13:28:00

I didn't see any Shapeshift, but the global feeling is good (shake cam is good and not too disturbing, perfect for me). I don't like at all the random movement of the character, I think the game would be way much better without it (Real Skil !!!). Where's the audio ?
GG !

Kuru Myst by TeamKuru 2016-04-27T12:30:00

Woaaaaw ! Not very new in the concept (Kururin) but so soomth and good in all domains! Arts, LD, Sound, Code, Tweak, everything is nice. GG! ;-P PS: need something useless but beautifull after credits (I finish in front of a simple wall again... the coolness is broken)

LD37 — One room

The Guy In The Room by BadPaul34 2016-12-15T15:22:00

Wow! That's a true BadPaul34's experience! :D Nice work dude. Origami!!! ^^

Walkie Talkie by managore 2016-12-14T09:38:00

So good idea, very impressive work! Little animations are cute and physic remind me the first Mario Bros. (hard air control but good tolerance). GG
PS : Need sound !

LD38 — A Small World

A small fungal genocide by croze 2017-05-05T14:42:39Z

Good amount of content. Not my style anyway. Mac works fine.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

NightmESCHER by Rodrigo Denúbila 2020-10-15T10:36:31Z

I like the basic principle, being stuck in your dreams, which are loopy and not rational. However I think it's a shame that you have to do the same pattern, the same sequence all the time to finish the level whatever it is.

If you're doing an upgrade, maybe a quick way to do variation without having to produce more assets (and use the work already produced wisely), would be: - to change the teleport links between doors, - and the location of the levers, => to add more and more complexity in term of reflection, at least that's what I was expecting after completing a loop.

While I was playing, in my head I was imagining something very childish like chimes, toys, with loop effects a bit glitchy that sometimes go forwards and sometimes backwards, etc. (a bit worrying because the subjects make me uncomfortable, this kind of dream almost a nightmare, but still quite sweet) I had a whole sound universe in my head ^^ I think it's your graphics that inspired me in this sense ...

Thanks for this nice little game! :D

Stuck in a Loop (station) by erikiene 2020-10-13T16:02:48Z

I like my simple but hypnotic one  (see screenshot) I wish we could have increased the BPM of the loop station! Thanks for this pleasant (game?) experience! :D loop.PNG

LA FAILLE by MatLab 2020-10-08T17:44:40Z

We're glad you enjoyed the "experience"!

Like everyone else during the jams I guess: we wanted to add so much more stuff and so much more content (lots of interaction with the various GIFs, a bit like completely wacky "quests" in those wacky worlds, and many more worlds...).

We already wanted to make a new version a little later, your comments make us even more eager to improve all this!

Thanks a lot !!

LA FAILLE by MatLab 2020-10-14T17:18:39Z

@cerka nope, in the level with the countdown and the "Mission:Find the Santa!" you have to find this damn Santa, and then click on it, and then a famous guy tell you if you found all the secret. If you found them, he will give you a gift... ;) Thx for playing!

Hyperloop by R3L0ad1 2020-10-14T17:40:25Z

Wow it's clean! It's beautiful, simple and efficient! It's very rare to come across a jam game that is so polished! You're probably a big fan of Thumper because I find there the sensations and the atmosphere! It's catchy, the twisted road gives the feeling of being carried away in an infernal whirlwind. However I don't feel like the patterns are on the rhythm (I'm not sure, maybe they are, maybe not, you don't mention it in the description so I guess it's not the intention) when maybe it could have added even more tension. But I guess you would have had to increase the speed of the music to keep up with the rhythm and maybe it wouldn't have been elegant... I don't know (maybe you tested it and it wasn't conclusive?). Thank you for this short and intense experience! :D

Dude Ranch by ColeSlaughter 2020-10-15T10:15:31Z

OMG! I never thought of respecting the theme this way! It's totally fucked up! xD Seriously!? You guys are crazy! ahaha! Everything is well done I think, and clean, well done, it's really nice! It makes me want to be able to improve your lasso to capture further, your shoes to run faster, etc. Maybe in an update? :smirk: Bravo !!! I love it !

PS: It's not to advertise, but really to make you laugh: if you like stupid stuff, don't hesitate to test our game, there's a lot less gameplay, but maybe it can satisfy you in terms of stupidity... ;)

Bermuda Triangle by Humpert764 2020-10-15T10:05:23Z

There's something very satisfying about watching all those ships and planes get chain-sawed down... like a dance of life and death.........

A Duck in Time by lovetocode999 2020-10-08T13:14:28Z

I don't know if I missed something but once I don't have a tap anymore I don't know what to do... except commit suicide in the monster's mouth... Moreover I had a text that was incomprehensible ducktape.jpg , maybe I have to do something with it? I don't know what to do... Thank you all the same for this game ! I like the graphics and the fluidity of the visual elements.

AUTOLOOP by Kpedatte 2020-10-08T13:20:41Z

Hell yeah! I'm still listening to music while I'm writing this message! I got into the game well, I found it very clever not to force the move at the beginning, but only after 2 items picked up, it allowed me to understand the controls and get used to the patterns, well done! I'm almost frustrated that it doesn't go on any longer !!! Thank you! Mamüüüüüüüüt !!!!! :metal:

Za Loopo! by NarRenArr 2020-10-13T16:03:45Z

I didn't understand the history of gays... I see robots, not gays. And why gay robots then? Anyway, I like the fact that when you attack the character, it quickly falls down, it gives a feeling of power ! Thanks for this quick game!

Jerry's Misfortune by Notredamstra 2020-10-08T12:11:35Z

I liked this game! Unfortunately I encountered several bugs (I think) that prevented me to fully enjoy this strange adventure! ^^ - sometimes I put myself in front of the handles to hang on but the QTE "F" doesn't appear, so I have to be ejected by the burp... - sometimes there are burps without prevention (from the moment I built the first bridge), there is no message or green gas, so I was a bit frustrated. - 2x I had a bug where my character was stuck in the corner of the jaw, the camera flipped over diagonally and there was nothing I could do to unblock the situation... the first time I spammed the keyboard and I got out of it, the second time it seemed that nothing was working. (see screenshot), so I couldn't go any further. jerry.jpg I also wanted to talk about another thing : for a long time I didn't understand that you have to click on the "Build" button to build things, I thought I had to use the "1", "2" and "3" keys of the keyboard, because the numbers are written in front of the constructions, so I tried to install the English keyboard in case it came from the fact that I'm French and my keyboard is in AZERTY, but it didn't work either. Before giving up I tried with the mouse and it worked... I didn't understand because I hadn't been using the mouse since the beginning of the game, so I found it strange that I had to use the mouse at that moment. Thanks anyway for this nice little game ! :D

(Nu) Da Drum by Trexxak 2020-10-13T16:05:04Z

I found the idea of the narration with the drawings very interesting! I even found it rather moving (although I hadn't read the presentation text before playing, but I think I understood the story a little bit anyway!). I finished the game in full screen, fortunately I read the description afterwards because I would have missed this great effect of moving the game screen that I find very very cool !! Concerning the gameplay, I found the time frame very short, I thought it might be more pleasant if it was longer, but at the same time I was struggling and I guess it's intentional (since you can start over as many times as you want). :) Thank you for this little game full of love!

Mobodo by Revetoon 2020-10-15T09:14:21Z

It's so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute! :D I like the fact that I have to look for objects in the environment that are going to do something. I guess if you had the time you would have added a lot more. ^^ Especially for the parts where you don't have anything to do except wait for the time of day when there are things you can interact with. If you update this game, I think it might be cool to add "useless" but just funny interactive elements, to have something to do in those moments. The loop of the daily routine is something that may come to many people's mind, but each in his own way to interpret and realize it, I really like the way you made it! ^^ I love the fact that it feels like you're talking about real-life events, or at least drawing inspiration from real-life events (I guess! Even if I hope that the dude didn't really pull the crank on the subway for fun? xD). Thank you for this cute little story! :D

PS: I think you like realistic fabric plugins ;P

Skycrawler by oneiromancer 2020-10-14T17:54:24Z

OH MY GOD, the mechanics of your game is so simple and completely crazy! I love it !!! I don't know if you invented the gameplay or if you were inspired by an already existing game. In any case I've never played a game with this mecanic before and I loved taking it in hand! I finished all the levels... And my verdict : I want more !!! Especially since you present the mechanics of the dark creatures in the last level, there is so much potential and possibility of variations. I'm a fan! I think you can make a real game out of it, if you want to of course, because the concept can really go far I think ! So far it's my favorite game that I've tested out of all this Ludum! Thank you very much!

[while'd] by Celuloide 2020-10-14T19:02:05Z

I love the principle of interdictions. I like the fact that the platforms don't make us move, it's unusual and therefore it's funny and interesting!

On the other hand, maybe it's detail, but I would like that if from the first level I fulfill the objectives of level 2 and 3 for example, it directly validates these levels, otherwise I just do the same thing again.

This brings me to the most important point for me: it's far too frustrating that when you lose you go back to the level you were at before! If only it was justified, but it's not! Please, when the player has fought for something, don't just take it away from him !!! For pity's sake! It's HORRIBLE! I know how to pass the pattern, but if I don't get it right the first time and then I'm so grounded! It's so sadistic...

And also, please, make it so that we can pass the ruler instruction screen faster, because when we start 10x again, (100x!) I'm so excited to be able to pass this screen that almost ends up making fun of me!

And the edge of the platforms that collide from underneath... the edge of the platforms... THE +°%µ+°µ%µ%+µ%+µ% EDGE OF THE PLATFORMS !? Why is it colliding from underneath when the middle doesn't collide ? aaaaaaaaahhhhh I almost pulled my hair out because of this platform edge in the spikes level!!!

In addition to the rules, I really liked the atmosphere, the music, the graphics, everything works well together. I love it!

On the other hand... I LOVED THE END !!! I finished the game without using "F1", so I crapped like crazy. I think it would be really better not to restart the whole level, it doesn't make any sense, please do an update, it's too bad you're going to scare away so many players! Because the end is really worth the detour! :D I love this kind of thing in video games, it makes me think clearly about the game "DATA WING" on mobile, I strongly advise you to play it if you don't know it. And also it reminds me a bit of the "game" we did with my friends for this Jam :smirk: , I'll let you go and test it if you feel like it.

Thanks again and Bravo !

[while'd] by Celuloide 2020-10-15T08:38:36Z

Hopefully this will motivate you even more: I insist on the fact that I don't see the point of removing a condition when you lose : it's neither funny in terms of gameplay/flow, nor interesting in terms of context/game universe, so for me it's just not worth it. Once that's removed (and added the ability to restart instantly) I think the game will become much more encouraging and punchy, it will make you want to improve yourself to face challenges, it's definitely something that should please die&retry platformers fans like Super Meat Boy, Celeste, VVVVVVV players!

Resurrection by etrealjunior 2020-10-08T13:06:11Z

Thank you for this little bit of poetry! Even if we expect the "end" of the story, I still let myself be lulled by the cute little drawings and the beautiful music!

SpaceMan by sefan 2020-10-14T18:29:24Z

I like the mechanics of changing direction, which doesn't just change the orientation of the character but of the whole screen! :D I wish there was music, sounds, and an ending, because I picked up all the pink balls (I think) but nothing happened (if I'm not being silly). Thank you for this game! :D

Stuck in a science loop by Uncle RIP 2020-10-13T16:00:46Z

I didn’t pass the second room. I don’t know what to do… I'm sad, this game seemed nice !

Welcome to TAROT by Bruno Assolari 2020-10-14T18:23:29Z

Sorry but for me it doesn't work. The game combines the reflection of a deck game, and the action of an Isaac type dungeon crawler. So I'm stuck between "do I think" and "do I act". For me, with the mechanics present, it's either one or the other.

Only a few games in my opinion manage (in some cases) to correctly combine action and reflection, like games with "Active Time Battle" action systems such as Chrono Trigger for example, which implies that we know our characters' abilities to think quickly. (That's why they ask at the beginning of the game if the player prefers "Active" or "Wait" battles, because they understand that both at the same time are complicated).

But here I don't know the abilities by heart, and even if I did, as they change every time when I "Draw" new cards, I never know what I have, so I can't both look at the cards and act at the same time. It's too hard. Also, the cards are "in a row" and you have to click on them to take them out. Why did you make this choice? Why not pull them out all the time? If it's so that they take up less space on the screen, then why not reduce the playing window to have the cards underneath? Because having to open each card to see what effect the card has, wastes a colossal amount of time, while I'm under pressure because of the action mechanics.

This is my personal opinion of course, maybe other players will find it great as it is. Personally, I think it should be : - either orient the game even more Action, for example: assign a keyboard key for each type of card, and the precise indication of what each card does on the screen (thus reducing the thinking time). - or steer the game even more Reflection, for example: pause the game as soon as the player is making his card choice at the bottom of the screen.

I'm trying to give you a constructive feedback, I don't want to say that it's not good at all! Indeed, it's because I feel that there is something interesting that I want to write you such a long message to share my thoughts with you!

I really enjoyed the music and the general atmosphere. (However, I didn't understand why the theme of the menu was SynthWave, while the rest of the game is not...).

Thanks a lot for this game!

Oscillator Panic by tjm 2020-10-15T11:10:56Z

I had a great time playing your game! Good mechanical idea, it reminds me of the toys I had when I was a kid where you had to move squares (or rather move the hole that moves the squares) to re-form an image.

I like how you renew the gameplay by adding mechanics but not too much.

However, in the end I wasn't really thinking but I was more in a logic of "I test, if it doesn't work I come back, I test, if it still doesn't work I come back again before, I test", etc. So in the end I wasn't really thinking, I was more like a iteration robot, so my experience wasn't very intense. But it was still pleasant! I liked especially the last level and the end ;) Thanks a lot for this clean game !

PS : need a nice little music... something that plays notes every time you move ? I had a little idea that I wanted to show you (with a music chosen randomly in the OpenMPT examples) : basically every time you move, whether it's forward or backward, it moves step by step in the music, and when you finish a level it plays the music at normal speed for a few seconds, as a kind of musical reward. I made a little video to show you: https://streamable.com/0oxcgw Maybe it will give you some ideas!

Thanks again!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Coffee Run by jelch 2022-04-12T16:50:22Z

Thanks for this nice game!

Special mention to the graphics for my part, which reminded me of my childhood memories.

I like the music too, old school as I like.

I also like the fact that you don't really die, but that you enter the world of nightmares where you have a second chance to get out of it, that's really cool I think! I didn't expect it and I was pleasantly surprised!

To make things even more spicy and intense I would like to have a x1,5 or x2 mode, so that it's really hard from the beginning (like the difficulty of the first PacMan for example, it was hard at the first level, remember?), because at the beginning when everything is quiet and easy, as a fast player, I'm a bit bored...

Thanks again, if you do a speed mode let me know and I'll try again! :yum:

Donchar by MatLab 2022-04-12T14:08:46Z

 Thank you all for your feedback! :yum:

I'm really glad you enjoyed this weird experience... ! :'D We realized while making this game, that it's very... strange to make a game with talking AIs, because it's quickly "not coherent" and "a bit uncomfortable" as soon as the behavior that looks like a human being, breaks the logic we have in mind, but at least we tried and we learn! We are very happy to have tried it for this jam!

This thing is alive now, and you're interacting with it, that alone is cool. ^^

@fish-sticks

Oh yes, we were wrong! We're French, so for us decimals are after a comma ","... ^^'But in English we have to put a dot "."... sorry, it's just disgusting! xD We wanted to put temporarily the decimals while the entity waits for its wish to be satisfied, to highlight the frenzy of life that inevitably runs out, and more and more quickly (here) the more its desire is not satisfied...

@skruffye

_I think the best strategy here might have been just to have never listened to that damn flower in the first place…_

This is exactly the disturbing and terrible feeling we wanted to convey. The fact that life and death are two sides of the same terrible coin!

Come, eat, leave by KreGames 2022-04-10T14:48:00Z

Simple and efficient gameplay xD my hand hurts from holding on to the mouse and shaking in all directions ! x'D On the other hand, I voluntarily stopped playing wave 15 because in fact the less corn you have, the easier it is to protect them ! So it could be interesting to increase the difficulty to compensate the fact that the difficulty naturally decreases. Example: increase the number of insects, increase the speed of the insects... Or else, to simulate the passing years, you can maybe put back all the corns from one wave to the other, but increase the minimum of corn to be saved in order not to "go bankrupt"? ^^ So we're really getting faster and more accurate!

Word Wizard by Slecornu 2022-04-10T15:07:40Z

"vain old bastard that he is" xD Too good in every way! Graphics, Sound, Gameplay... It's addictive. The only weak point (because I'm French) is that I have to play with the English keyboard (qwerty) and so it's an additional gymnastics (especially for the "M" which is not at all in the same place xD)... I still managed to do 1036! (in Defautl/Fast, so the whole "normal" game I guess). If you make an update with the possibility to switch to AZERTY keyboard, please keep me informed ;)

Word Wizard by Slecornu 2022-04-12T16:38:31Z

@slecornu thx a lot! :yum: I managed to do 1743! :grinning: So nice!

Meltdown by DesertMaw 2022-04-12T16:24:42Z

Screenshot (285).png I didn't understand how to do more. I can solve all the problems with the speed of a Quake 3 player xD, but I don't understand how other players can do more than 72000! :O I have tried several times, nothing helps. :sob:

Maybe I missed something? However, I manage to turn off all the red lights... Except the one next to the central bath... You have to press the button to make it go down to 0 but you can't turn off this red light, can you?

Anyway, well done for this game that I find well done on all points: graphics, music, gameplay, diversity, setting, progression. Only small negative point (I think I'm not the only one), I had trouble understanding each action the first time, understanding that there was product for the cockroaches, understanding that there was a gun, etc. A little more signage on each action (animated hologram?) would be great. For a jam this is really impressive! :scream:

Thanks for the fun!

Last Stand by Diannara 2022-04-10T14:24:06Z

The realization is very clean, both in terms of graphics, sounds, and gameplay! Thank you for explaining the context in the description (and in How To Play), it allows to understand the stake of the game!

For information, here is what I would like to see in it if you decide to update it again: - a larger FOV on the camera ^^ - more Risk&Reward in the fight. So for example a quick move of the shield which allows to push back and stun the goblins, but which requires to be executed at the precise moment of the attack animation when the goblin makes his armed arm fall on us. If we succeed, it pushes back and it stuns (more reward than just blocking), if we miss we are not protected and we take all the damages (more risk than just blocking). Because the current system is rather easy to master and thus one misses quickly of more technical and so rewarding challenge. - a little more context, lore... example: why not different endings depending on if you lasted long or not, for example "you lasted 1 minute, thanks to you 200 villagers had time to escape... if only you could have lasted 20 seconds more..." so it could make you want to play again to do 1min20 and have the text "you lasted 1min20, 300 villagers were able to escape, the king's children were able to be exfiltrated from the kingdom! If only you could have lasted 20 seconds more...", etc. (maybe it's not a good idea, it's up to you to judge it ^^)

Thanks again for this nice game ! :D

Capture.JPG Ok! Now we're talking! This game is too powerful! From one run to another the patterns are sometimes much more inustrial xD it's not cool, but who cares! It's addictive, easy to play, fun, absurd, everything we like! I had a great time! Thank you for this furious game!

Ahaha my god! This game is completely crazy. xDDD Well, I wish there was a lot more variety because now we're doing the same thing all the time, of course, but the initial idea, I don't know why, I find it both stupid and really amazing! I got into the game very quickly, I managed to get to Lap 30, it was so epileptic at the end ahahaha, I experienced something I will definitely remember! xD Thanks for this moment of madness out of space time ^^

Thx everybody for your comments and feedback! :relaxed:

Sorry for the bugs: - "C" doesn't launch the immersion mode: @stone-tape-studios, @bqq, I haven't found yet where the bug comes from... I cleaned up some code for version 1.2, maybe I fixed this bug without doing it on purpose? ^^

- no music: @stone-tape-studios, I'll see if I can detect the fact that the radio is not working, and then try another station... ^^

[EDIT] 1.3 is online, there is now a security that checks the internet connection, reconnects the radio if the connection is lost, and switches to another radio station if the current radio is temporarily down.
