Puzzle Dash! by Fireblend 2013-08-29T02:27:00
Was a pretty cool puzzle game, a nice twist on those games where you just click to remove groups of the same color. Well done!

Was a pretty cool puzzle game, a nice twist on those games where you just click to remove groups of the same color. Well done!
That is just disgusting, you can just run through the whole game, the bow and arrow took too long to charge, and there was no defining goal other than kill a few people, run, then shoot something a few times
no groceries ever showed up on the shelves, and was fairly buggy. I personally liked the drawn on graphics, and game could be good given some polishing.
Wasn't runnable, "A java exception has occurred"
That was pretty awesome!! Loved the graphics, use of the theme, and the game was overall well made!
Couldn't run it
Very fun!!! Well made too! You should have included in the game itself that you have 10 seconds of fuel, because some people like @Tanser don't read the description :/
Game was way too easy, but very good idea and well made.
Way too slow, poor use of the theme, but other than that good concept, nice graphics and audio, and had enough potential to be fun for me to rate that good :D
Isn't even a game... Is this even playable?
Pretty cool :D graphics were pretty funny
Couldn't beat level 2, but if it was easier and had a tutorial I can easily see the greatness this game could have, it's very well made and I love the "repeating" movements, that was very impressively done. You can expect a great rating from me ;D
Nice game, a little glitchy at times but pretty cool. Kind of linear though, didn't feel puzzley enough. Didn't fit the theme though, seems like you just went with your own idea and called it 10 seconds.
Couldn't download the dropbox link said too much traffic on your account
I love this!!!! Expect great ratings!!!
That was pretty incredibly made for such a simple idea, and the graphics fit so well! Did you manually put in each of those balls and when they would come in? Either way very great work!!!
Definitely got my innovation and humor vote haha
Was a very great idea, good test of multitasking :D Hated the audio lol, but the graphics were awesome.
Not even really a game right now, you just run. I liked the audio and graphics though, next ludum dare focus more on gameplay than modeling ;)
Can't vote since it's android only and I don't have one, sorry :(
Don't have an android :(
Excellent, but really hard.
simple, but cool
I guess it was pretty cool, probably the most you could make out of a political campaign
The download link is broken
Love it!!!
Agreed @vittorioromeo, these text adventures are really common for some reason, but the graphics and audio were great. Not much "fun" though, also doesn't really fit the theme, oyu just sort of threw 10 seconds in there
Was pretty cool.
eh... wasn't really fun, but I enjoyed the graphics and audio, and the theme fit nicely :D
I liked the graphics
That was awesome! You should have more graphical switches instead of geese and octupi, but I loved the graphics and very fun!!!
Didn't match the theme at all, the camera was awkward, but if the theme was "sports" this would have been good :P
That was really well made!! Great job!!
Game was pretty cool, could have made it feel less "Warioware"y while keeping that minigame style in, but either way it was still pretty cool.
Spent more time talking to the old man than the actual game
MSVCP11 or something like that was missing, so is unplayable for me :(
Game felt really broken, but good idea, graphics were outrageous!
Good idea, but could have been done much better. If the graphics weren't just a bunch of scribbles slapped in my face I'd probably understand what I need to do better
It fit the theme, has nice audio, and has a good mood, but that's about it. Everything else is a 1
The 10 2nds idea was a little too common but you played the idea out well
I like the "Wrecking ball" idea, but you should have had some sort of physics engine, perhaps use unity next time you have a project like this so it will be more satisfying.
@Lustdante yeah haha I would have scaled it to fit all monitors but java is a pain when it comes to control over how your images look in-game
Thanks everyone :D
Thanks for the advice krag; I also noticed that while playing, but by the time I could even worry about it, it was already submission time :( I probably should have included only 1 music file, or had a separate download for it.
Jelly, you were supposed to be able to, you have 10 seconds of accelerating and then after that you wold slow down based on your resistance level.
Thanks haha, yeah I really wanted to make the upgrade screen nicer but still make it keyboard only, but I couldn't come up with anything that would look much better that would still be keyboard only.
Yeah I shouldn't have included all 3 music tracks in it, and the window size was an issue I thought I could solve easily but Java doesn't have image manipulation integrated already.
Couldn't get it to run :(
Idea could have been better made, but is a good idea nonetheless
Great idea, but you should have done a little more with the 10 seconds idea, it's too linear rather than skill based, other than that I loved it!
Didn't relaly know what the changing colors did, did it change helath of each ships? Good game though, I liked the graphics and was pretty funny. Was it based on galaxian or galaga?
Although the graphics looked nice at first, the walls are awkwardly layed out, it's hard to know where you are going, but overall the game was good
That game was beautiful and fun!!! Could have been a little bit optimized; had some pretty bad framerates in some situations, but that was great!
Game doesn't even work
Wouldn't run, just prompted me to open a file.
Didn't really understand the game...
Fully agreed @redo, but now the sfx are really annoying lol, there should be a mute button.
I'm not going to lie, I was getting sick of watching the story line, was the any part of this where you interacted with the game other than the occasional "You choose your path" kind of dialogue" Other than that the graphics were amazing, and audio was pretty great too.
I liked it a lot :D
Had to end process to make the music stop, and the game was kind of funky getting used to, other than that great work!
Was pretty funny, really hard, but when I was colliding with him it didn't do anything, so a generally buggy game, but it was pretty cool.
Cool game and idea, but was not user friendly.
I saved the princess :D Very well done, and the few graphics that are there are beautiful :D Really made me on the edge of my seat.
Pretty good, I love the graphics and was fairly fun and innovative, good luck on future projects, you should definitely expand off of this!!
Cool idea, but not very well made for the player. It felt like I never knew where the enemies were moving, an the key wouldn't pick up.
Pretty cool, popup box was annoying, and maybe add ship upgrades? The game felt way too straight-forward/linear.
It was really just collect stars and constantly shoot the same enemy... But for 21 hours and being that young it's awesome
I highly suggest making a game more than 1 in every 1000 people are able to play (Not many PC gamers have 2 gamepads ready to be plugged in to vote)
That music was awful, and was obnoxiously hard to control. Other than that once you get used to it I loved the QWOP style, and the graphics were nice. Innovative too :D
That was actually pretty creepy, those bats scared the hell out of me. Very well done, though the sound was annoying lol.
That was awesome!!! You literally nailed every category dead on!
I love upgrade games!! I also made one for LD 27 haha check it out!! http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-27/?action=preview&uid=24715
That was incredibly good!! Very well made, had a very good feel to it, and actually made you think!!! Props to you!
Didn't really fit the theme, but the ghosts were really well made so props to you on that
I have a windows, so I couldn't play :P
Same here @arch I don't think your game is runnable D-e-X, you most of exported the images into the .jar files improperly, I did the same thing but I found a solution before the required submission time. It will run perfectly on your computer but any other won't have the images so they won't load into the game.
That was pretty fun :D Made it to the second level and almost beat it before I rage quit haha, you should continue developing this and maybe having a difficulty level ;)
Reminds me of that freeze time fall out thing where you choose where to attack the enemy, not really much "Fun" gameplay though, loved the graphics and audio :D
A little buggy, but fun, a good game for passing time.
Pretty good idea, but hard to play, whenever I clicked on 1 dude that slightly overlapped the other it almost always chose the other, may be a coincidence but it made the game near to impossible. Maybe bind keys to each player or select them and manually move them to a specific location.
Very good idea and well put out there
The seconds were off, it was almost like 1 second = 2 seconds, poor collision detection, but decent idea.
very difficult, but I liked it.
Felt too random, it was pretty much press space and move as much as possible. Good idea though, and looked nice.
Really fun and innovative! Although, in case you further develop this, make sure you test each level thoroughly because I was able to grenade jump my way through nearly every single level.
That was pretty gunny haha, btw is that Hitler? Also, my nut count stayed the same the whole time, even when I witnessed Hitler "Bust a nut" on multiple occasions ;)
Nice game, but the mouse was incredibly laggy and made it kind of hard to play, other than that great job!!
Interesting... Haha
Very buggy and I need a reset button lol, but other than that not a bad puzzle game, also doesn't really feel like it fits the theme
This took an hour? But I like it, it was funny lol
That was really awesome, I got to 20 damage and an unreasonably high boomerang speed. I was just grinding level 3 by running and clicking haha. Great work
Really good, but incredible hard!! Where's YOGO?
Didn't like that you have to restart, and I think you should make moving the scope with the mouse. Other than that pretty great job
Link is working; I like it, felt like Cookie Clicker, not bad.
took my over 45 minutes to beat haha, no LD game has kept me interested that long. Great work!!
Also, where's the theme?
ColeSlaw - Yeah I probably should have added at least a *little* bit of background haha, thanks for the feedback! JoeProgram - Thank you very much haha, my mouth doesn't quite make the best gun sounds. tklovert - Not sure if that's possible, but I could have made it fullscreen; maybe I'll add in that functionality at some point.
Haha I'm glad you like my mouth ;P
Didn't really have much of an idea what I was doing, once I got the hang of it it was cool though, just was a pain figuring out what to do
Pretty good game, you should add more levels now that the dare is over. I use to love playing flash games like this.
Wasn't able to download it
Did not download
I got it now on your new site though
I kept on jumping/flying forever, very buggy game. The idea was good though
I played for soooo long
I still remember your bomb defuser project from last ludum dare, good to see you again! Not a bad game, was kind of a pain trying to walk through the crowd, but pretty good overall
Not bad, simple, but fun. Also I suggest making diagonal movement the same as horizantal/vertical, otherwise you outrun the zombies
I just felt like I was sitting there clicking the tower every round, once you have the right timing you really can't lose.
Felt too much like a too fast paced memorization game
Really dark, but really good.
Interesting... Lol fun game, reminds me of the Legend of Zelda going through hyrule trying not to be seen, don't know how it fits with YOGO though...
Not bad, moles seem way too fast lol
Not even a LD submission, probably just to give yourself votes on your real project or osmething
I made chlid so happy, and it only took me exactly 60 seconds :) Pretty good game, I like the 2d-3d art style, really repetitive though
Pretty great, love the sound effects and the AI is quite solid haha, doesn't go too well with the theme though
Really great game! Reminds me of a mix of Burrito Bison and Jetpack Joyride, although I think there were too many friends too land on, I was able to just sit there and watch myself bounce for about 2000 meters
Feels really slow paced since you can only kill one but it's still pretty fun, and a good idea.
Good game, could be cool if you add an objective. You may want to increase the enemy's attack range because on high resolution monitors you can just make the game full screen and see and be able to shoot the monsters before they even see you
really buggy, but it looked nice. Probably wouldn't have been too hard to make an AI either but yeah it was good
Quick bug mention: If you fall before you jump, you can jump in the air. Nice game though, pretty cool for how early you released it
Very interesting lol
Understanding how to play was pretty tedious, but once I learned how to play it's a pretty neat game. Brings me back to my tomagotchi days...
Only like half a minute of gameplay, if you extended it and added a few more features it could be really cool
Didn't work for me, just got a ship with a barrier that I hit to -50 health and nothing changed
Just wanted to say that you commented on my game "WEll done! Great game!" but you never played the game. I have been waiting in the lobby and no new servers were made. I highly advise against rating games without playing them, you'll get disqualified quite quickly.
Really cool and addictive, seems like a lot of flash games I see and you did it in only 48 hours! Maybe add some variety to the game?
I loved the graphics, fun game too. Would be better if you could somehow lose.
Very very cool, I loved the movement of the tiles. Very fun too, well done!
This gets 5/5 for every category but audio and graphics, obviously. This is really freaking awesome
This is super addicting!!! got 8140, definitely keeping this bookmarked
it is a 2 player game... lol
wow 3 people just commented at the same time haha
it wouldn't load on kongregate
That was really neat! Really solid too for only 48 hours, only found 1 bug which was only graphics where after I spawned I would be laying down dead instead of standing up. Not too often you find games with real gameplay, I loved the audio as well!
Cool art, are the boxes even killable?
I was generally confused but that's an impressive game!
The bullets don't work for me like 90% of the time? I can't kill anyone
very buggy, extend on the idea a bit too
Really cool, like a fast paced boardgame. Would be really cool with multiplayer!
I am super impressed, this is such a fun sit back and play type of game, it feels really polished and satisfying and I really can't find a single thing I dislike about it. 5 stars all around, I may have to keep this in my downloads folder!
It was unnecessary how difficult it was for a game that's supposed to have some sort of message, not a good kind of a difficult, a "Why am I playing this level over and over again?" kind of difficult. I would like to see the story and graphics as they seem like they'd be nice but the theme doesn't quite fit the genre.
couldn't download, link didn't work
@wakka the point of ludum dare isn't to make a game that'd available for everyone, it's about making anything you want to make and anyone who is able to give feedback can.
You should check out photon, it's really easy to do networking and this could be pretty cool if played over the internet!
This was really freaking cool! A lot of replay potential, maybe add an endless mode post-release?
Dang I wish I had controllers (and friends) to play this! Lol, looks really interesting, sucks that I can't rate it though :(
Really fun!
The cat instructor was adorable! Very good idea, fits the theme incredibly and was still fun without really much of a "game" behind it. The background music was nice too, good touch. I think you should add a selection menu for each of the parts so it's easier to see what I can choose from, not sure if that's already implemented if so I didn't see it. Very well done though!!!
Went ahead and added the seperate downloads, 110mb was very overkill. Thanks for the feedback guys!
@tentrabrobpy Sorry for the confusion, you actually don't leave the classroom on your own you wait 5 seconds and get automatically teleported out. I might need to disable the door colliders when you are in the class!
oops that was supposed to be @NIGIC
Does anything happen if you wait? Pretty ginormous file for a game with such little content. Is this pretty much just to convey some sort of message?
Very cool concept, very Portal-esque. The lighting was great, but it would have been nice if it was a little bright, it was hard to see what I was looking at. Great work though, the item swap is very satisfying
Very cute and relaxing, loved the art but couldn't really figure out how to properly capture with the wand, it seemed random if it would just pop or start the progress part
You didn't export the game properly, you can't just have the unity EXE as the file you need that _data file, so it isn't playable right now my friend
Love the graphics style!
It was very pretty but I had no idea what I was doing
Didn't really get it, I just sort of flopped the planet around for about 2 minutes
That was a really cool, reminds me of a game I played about infecting a human and spreading it through choice of placement, idk the strategy concept was similar haha. Nice to see a realtime puzzle game fitting with the theme though, very innovative.
Very simple yet fun! I really liked the art, I could have used you for the topdown humans in my game!! Haha, I also loved the point counter how it was sort of vials of ooze or blood. I got to 7
The art was awesome, but the gameplay not so much. the guards just sort of ran around in a circle and didn't do anything
Couldn't play, was really excited to because this game looks really interesting, but the installer kept telling me it was downloaded at another location. I uninstalled and reinstalled twice and I do have the .net framework and running on windows.
Would be cool if you added a sort of upgrading type thing and make it one of those progression games, still fun though and i loved the graphics and sound effects!
Lol that was really cute and funny, really cool concept, it felt generally polished to me! Graphics and audio fit rally well, and I loved the character commentary!
Funny game, not a whole lot of gameplay to it but good work for 24 hours
Couldn't figure out how to pick up the houses or anything, and I was getting stuck very often. I tried using right mouse button and that made me look at mouse, tried every key combo plus left mouse while right next to, infront of, or hovering cursor over a housea nd nothing.
Was cool, but very very unbalanced. I was only ever able to survive for more than 3 enemies with the instakill spear, the enemies have pretty much an aimbot. I managed to use the unconventional weapon once and would be a nice touch. Maybe work on the ai a bit, and make the guns stronger and the spear less strong it could be great! I loved the graphics and the audio was very retro
Dear God that was gruesome, I was constantly spamming axes at the wolf and constantly getting bit and never killed it or died though, not sure if a bug or intentional. I loved the movement style
That was actually really addictive, also quick note not sure if it's a bug or not; I would hear the enemy firing sound played a lot but no enemy bullets were on the screen, maybe the enemies that you don't kill and move you behind you keep shooting and playing the sound? Well done though.
Very cute and fun, with very solid gameplay mechanics! Quite difficult I must add, also reminds me of the gameplay in Beat Buddy!
Got over 750,000. Love the soundtrack and game was really addicting.
A little slow paced, and I feel like the aliens should have been a bit bigger for the size of your character, map, and mattress you are defending. Other than that it was really solid and the hobo compadre was an awesome feature! Very funny and very good idea
Couldn't figure out how to make them spawn anywhere other than the corner, I could see what you were trying to do though. Very clash of clans like. Try adding a tutorial next time
You probably didn't have 3 Life force then Robot Souls, thanks for the feedback everybody! Not too sure why people are having problems controlling the monsters, some of them behave differently like the Rollers, who only jump when you release the A or D key
Pretty cool, the click to move was kind of awkward but it fit the theme well. I liked the graphics and sound effects
I couldn't find the jar file in the folder?
This game is absolutely beautiful, and the gameplay is incredible! I can't even begin to imagine how 2 people accomplished all of this in 72 hours. I gave up when you have to climb up the wall after the shifter says "there is still hope" had no idea how to get past the moving spot light. 5 stars all around though
ok um, none of the monsters could kill me, when I reached the end after like 7 seconds of jumping and moving right it sorta just froze. Game doesn't really work
Um excuse you, the readme contained no cheats!!! Haha, this game was really cool though. Very much like the original zelda, the art and audio all fit together well.
I couldn't move left, but I like the graphics and audio, and the ai is pretty nice!
Omg I absolutely loved the narration, was smiling like an idiot throughout it. Darn you Damon Adams!!! The name of the theme kinda spoiled the ending though haha, I was confused how it fit until I thought about it for a second.
It's pretty broken ngl...
Game doesn't run, you didn't provide the data folder
Reminded me of Fishy on xgenstudios, very cool and simple game. Loved the graphics too, felt very dark and "monster like"
This honestly might be the best game in the whole universe. 11/10 -ign (but srsly 5 stars all around I was dying at this, shared it with my friends too!)
Very funny dialogue, everything I have to say about the art was almost mentioned by the fairy or monster xD you should have kept it in the rating category! Lol
Pretty funny game, kinda boring though. I did chuckle a bit but maybe add some more dynamic background and make the game a bit longer?
Fun little game, I love the art style and the audio made me giggle. Fit the theme very well too.
Very pretty game, when the hint involves left or rights, is it my left and right or theirs?
The game wouldn't load for me, just a blank white screen :(
4th game in a row I couldn't even play! I was excited for this one too :( the sound effects and graphics are intriguing
Surprisingly fun little game! Got 730 score. Definitely well done for doing it on 1 sunday night
Wow. Simply wow, incredibly well done. Feels as original as Portal, you have to keep working on this! I got to semag but unfortunately have to go to bed, I'll definitely have to finish it tomorrow though!
Reminded me of my spore days! Really cool game, nice graphics too
@Weeping Rupee I agree, if I decide to work on it post mortem that would definitely be one of the first things I work on. Thanks for playing!
@wg_phancock Unfortunately I tried to fix this early on but didn't play test enough to realize it is still a problem. Sorry about that! Thanks for playing and for your feedback :)
Only had a chance to view the gameplay video, that's the struggle with multiplayer games sometimes :( I'll rate what I feel comfortable rating from the video though! It looks like a really cool horror game :) Not too sure what it had to do with the theme though
Not really sure what the point of the game was, but I liked the graphics. I just sorta pressed spacebar and got 1 word feedback and a dance motion.
Couldn't really get it to work so I can't rate it :(
I just kept gaining 4 exp and it never actually added me up or leveled me up, got to the mens bathroom and got sick of typing "help" every single command. Maybe add a little option box to the side that lists commands or make them more uniform, obvious, and varying. I like the idea, don't know what it has to do with the theme.
It was pretty cool, not bad for a game made in processing. Was a nice little puzzle platformer
It was really wasy to just split all the way in most levels and just jump up walls or fling into the purple zone, but when playing the game how it's meant to be it was pretty unique and cool! Well done :)
Wow this game is a really cool puzzle game. I really think you should keep working on this post-mortem. I'm addicted, it's visually very pleasing, it's very challenging but also fun and satisfying to finish a level and match a piece. 5 stars!!
Pretty cool, controls felt awkward though. Very difficult for sure
I laughed my ass off when I first played aha, I got to 1000 then stopped. Showed my roommate as well! 5 stars all around
Pretty fun lol, played with my roommate. I like the graphics, this would be a cool mini game in collaboration with other mini games as a post-mortem project
Yay I became a shark lol
Very pretty, I liked the sound effects! Th commentary was funny too
The file size is way too huge try shrinking it down a bit
I was able to get pretty much infinite food from Xanthelopes, and the controls shifting occasionally was a little funky. I beat the game and couldn't fully figure out the point of Hope or Might, maybe that's because I had thousnads of food right away though. Maybe add a combat tile post-mortem? Pretty game and cool concept, was kind of Civ-esque
It's a bit buggy, and doesn't work all that well, but I think I can see where you're going with the idea and can dig it. I'd suggest switching to a WASD controlled camera and have each castle provide a sort of "allowed building area" so you can only place buildings and troops near your own castles. This would also allow you to prevent players from building multiple buildings in the same spot or on roads, bugging out troops or buildings. I only got to the second level as well as dj, I'd suggest contacting an admin and asking if this qualifies as a game breaking bug, and if so implement WASD controls onto the camera.
Lol I love that end credit track music. I really like the idea, but think it would have worked better as a turned based game. At first I didn't realize I could send troops from my castle to any lit tile on the map, so it was super challenge and incredibly click-spammy, but once I realized I can just click each tile on my side on by one from the castle and get a bunch of tiles at once, I can quickly build up a line of defense to protect all of my deep-rooted "1" tiles, then push the enemy in. Maybe turn based isn't the right way to go, but definitely some tweaking of gameplay mechanics. I couldn't even click fast enough to keep up with my castle's regeneration rate at times
Really cool game! Only died once on Pluto and twice on Planet X :) I absolutely loved the variation in visual aesthetic, sound, and difficulty through each of the 5 planets. I found that I could use the crafting bench as a shield from the meteors on the earlier planets, not sure if this was intended but felt like a fun little strategy lol. Felt very much like the bomb survival games I used to play in Little Big Planet but with upgrades! Very easy to pick up/learn and very clean/bug free. Well done! Also, I think I won the "Annoying sound contest", your jumping sound got to me a little bit, but it's no match to my game's walking sound! The rest of your audio was fantastic though so 4 stars in that category ;)
I got 34 kills :) Lovin the graphics, this seems like a really solid framework for something with potential. It did feel quite unfinished, without much gameplay or any objective to go off it lost my short attention span fairly quickly.
Super pretty game! The sound effects were a little uncomfortable, especially the bathroom one, but it seems like that was intended. Not a whole lot gameplay wise, but I enjoyed finding fast paths to picking up and dropping off people while consistently going through food gas and bathrooms. I could imagine a storyline implemented and it being less survival arcadey post-mortem being really dope! Unfortunately the game crashed when I was at like $550 when I picked someone up so that's when I chose to stop.
@nandemoguy I very much regret the walking sounds ahaha, I highly suggest playing at low volume. I'll check out your game right now, thanks for the feedback :)
Thank you all for the wonderful feedback! Oh how I wish I could have added a "Mute walking sound" button. @phi in regards to the knife just disappearing and being picked back up, you were probably hugging the wall of the map (this is a bug, not intended!) and the knife thought it hit the wall you were already colliding with. I'm glad many of you enjoyed it!
This game was absolutely fantastic. I really hope you continue developing it post-mortem, you really have something going here. I have zero complaints, 5 stars all around. Untitled.png
It wouldn't let me submit my second record which was 2500 :( cool game though! Took me a while to notice that the timer goes up in space and down on planets, it felt like you could have done more with the planets but just didn't have time to implement everything you could have. Same with the resources, it seemed like there could have been more uses for them, and the health bar, the space level was just too easy to ever die. I like where the idea is going, and hope to see a post mortem status update eventually!
Awesome idea, reminds me of a take on Portal, cool graphics and door animation too. I didn't really have the patience to get past the level with the floor covered in blocks and you had to build a tall staircase, maybe if the building mechanics were more like Minecraft (Click on wall to build block there) because it was difficult to be precise with this method. Other than that, I really liked it!
Difficult game, reminds me of a twist on the classic game and watch games. Truck controls felt a little unresponsive, or just awkward maybe, but it didn't really take away from it.
Well, I pressed 'Q' and won. Lol, cool game though, I really like the idea. Could use some basic animation and sound
@nikthenarwhal @squirmonkey Yeah unfortunately I ran out of time and couldn't smooth out the side-climbing. When it does work, it is pretty satisfying though aha. I definitely need to work on my consistency with pixel art graphics as well. Thank you all for the feedback!
The graphics are beautiful and I love the concept of the screen shrinking as you take damage, very well done!
I just played a game that had a bunch of sliders where you would launch rockets and sattelites, I had pretty much no idea what I was doing in that submission but this is actually a game that is really easy to understand and satisfying to watch, with very similar visual effect. Very well done! Satisfied my previously unfulfilled need for launching rockets and understanding how to do that lol
I wasn't entirely sure what I was doing, but it was fun to slide things around and see what happened, got some pretty hectic results. I like the graphics, made for a fun little visual sim.
I honestly couldn't find my target after looking for like 3 minutes but the idea definitely had me laughing, and I like the graphics
Not gonna lie, I had to give up at Level 3 lol. Super dope though I love the concept and it is well made. Maybe if you can give me a lil hint on level 3 I'll try and get farther ;)
Awesome game! Like tetris combined with a tower defense. I got 1304 my 2nd try once I figured things out, the music and sound effects got a little repetitive but the graphics were awesome. I would suggest being able to select from a few different grid sizes, and maybe a mode that changes up the piece shapes every time you place one instead of every game. I definitely had a couple lucky pieces my 2nd game, and if I played it right could have fit rockets and blasters on every square. Or maybe I'm crazy and they never changed between my 2 games, but that'd be cool either way. Pausing was a little broken, could destroy pieces and pause between placing to give myself more time to think, I bet learning to take advantage of that could make the game a bit less challenging. Overall, super well done! Excited to see if you do something with it Post-mortem
I got 56, I mostly just stood still and attacked them when they landed on top of me, otherwise they would just kill me before the spikes could squish me lol. I like the game for how simple it is, with some smoothed out game mechanics (Maybe spawn them from the sides and occasionally the jump at you) this could be a fun little game. Awesome artwork too!
I demand an option to propose to your boss, for he is beautiful.
Couldn't find the exit, but cool idea. I bet it'd be a fun 3d horror game
Ended up mostly just spamming space, fun idea and cool cartoon graphics.
Really cool graphics! Reminds me of a next-gen version of the classic Asteroids game
I couldn't get enough points to buy upgrades before losing, not sure if I just suck or if it gets too difficult too fast. Really awesome idea though, I could imagine a game like this being on one of those classic flash game websites
Really cool game! I was kind of expecting it to be a bit complicating because of the long description/tutorial but it's incredibly easy to pick up and learn, and quickly becomes quite a unique strategy game! I got 2422 points when I played my first time and will probably play a couple more just to see if I can figure out a solid strategy, it definitely picks up difficulty as the enemies get stronger and need to use their barricades as block points so you can deal damage without taking it back. Definitely a really well made entry.
It does get easier as you get bigger very quickly since you gain a lot more control and slow down, but then you kinda slow down too much and have to find speed boosts which can be far away. Really funny graphics and neat take on the sorta agario genre, whatever that genre is called lol.
This is awesome! Really neat graphics and I love the ability to jump, I also like that I can take my time more as opposed to other Tron style games like this and plan out my moves to wipe everyone out.
Shame! If this is on your resume you best take it off
I really like the concept and love these types of board games but agree with others the pace needs to be sped up, especially for the sake of quickly learning the game during a jam like this. I found myself getting frustrated not really understanding the game and it took a while to really feel like I'm getting it with how slow the pieces move and how many turns it can take for something to happen. My partner gave up before really trying, but that's her own fault ;)
Really cute game! I was struggling a lot to keep my dog alive though, I got through one full day but the dog died the second day, and I was playing with it and feeding as fast as I could. The days lasted a bit long too with only having those two things to do, I wish I could have checked out all the stuff in the shop!
Oops - I must have been overfeeding and playing lol, I always forget to read descriptions first. I will replay and come back!
So I realized you keep your money when your dogs die which is nice, and I was much more successful this time around, my pug is still alive 3 days later! I still don't really know what I'm doing but whatever I'm doing is working. Just for the heck of it, I tried buying something even though I didn't have enough money, and it worked, so there's currently a bug where you can have negative cash and just buy everything in the shop. I really like this though, was giving me nintendogs vibes, I only wish there was a way to pet my dog by clicking or something!
Cool game! Agree with others that a dynamic tutorial would serve well here.
@meelo I'm not sure why I thought it didn't work, it definitely does! Thank you for checking for me <3 @nerd-everyday It's not obvious, but you can click to do a much faster 'Leap' which has a fun lil animation that took way too much of my time
Yayyy the cubs are safe <3 I beat Azuul with the last few rounds being at 0 health, only to lifesteal from Azuul just before dying for 2 rounds, then had a clutch magic counter with 34 health left. That was incredible fellas! I would no doubt pay y'all money for this game if you keep developing it.
My space faring expertise kept us alive, with 42 seconds remaining! It wasn't performing well on the web, but the download worked better, still pretty low frames but much more playable. The intro made me want to play some kerbal space program, and the game itself is really pretty. I will say all of the numbers were confusing me at first but once I realized I just needed to keep replacing the empty/low parts of the FTL drive it was pretty straight forward. I can see a lot of potential here post-mortem, like making the generator refill empty batteries and other creative ways of attaining filled parts instead of littering the ship with them, and making life support a necessary side task otherwise you die in your ship. Very well done y'all! You have at least one player should you keep developing this further.
Edit: I see the description says you do die if you don't maintain the life support, maybe I just got lucky with randomized initial resources or something? But I never refilled it once or paid any mind, even took one of the motors I think to add to the FTL drive. Or maybe I just escaped that quickly ;)
Ayyy I got 111, for a second I was unsure if I was ever going to lose but I think it slowly speeds up? Cool game!
Holy wow those visuals, that was really made in 72 hours?? Well done!! The mouse controls weren't really working well for me, I would say it could be my touchpad but I haven't had issues with other games yet. I like the concept, but man I just can't get over how amazing this all looks.
Super fun idea and cute graphics! Naming the pet was a nice customization touch, I'd love to one day see the equippables show up on the pet avatar. Well done!
What on Earth did I just play lmao, is this what polyamory is like? I didn't want to kiss that weird looking carrot tbh, but my wish kind of came true, because through my hectic clicking I must have clicked whatever button brings you past the "You win!" screen, so sadly I didn't get to see what happens at the very end :(
The graphics are really fun, and the concept is very unique. It feels pretty slow paced honestly, and I more or less was just following what it told me to do at the bottom left, but with some polish this could be even amazing-er!
I killed a few people, which felt more accomplishing than I expected! Really interesting concept for combat, I'd love to see it developed further post-mortem
The art is absolutely beautiful, very well done! I either won or lost after some different colored snails came up, I'm not really sure, nothing got to my flower so I think I won?
Cool concept, I got just past where there's like 7 red dudes chasing you down and the little shadow things that move straight up. I'll be honest, I didn't see much use in making the kid stop or go, I just kept him really close to me and never pressed any of the buttons, more often opting to physically push him to protect him from the red guys since I can't kill them. I also thought I'd be able to die, but I just ended up being able to willy nilly charge through everything, maybe a regenerating health bar and a click-to-attack would help with that?
Cool game! I wish there was a score so I could post it
Really cool! Reminds me of the flash games I'd play as a kid. I like a lot of the minor details in the graphics, especially the different zombie looks. Nice balance in difficulty too, I actually had to try really hard to get the last gun but I did get there eventually
After playing a few times, there's no way I'm gonna win, but wow this is well made! I love the graphics and little animations, and the audio is fitting too. The font looked a little blurry but other than that everything blended really well together with some pretty satisfying gameplay.
Cool game! I've been playin cookie clicker again recently so this was just what I'm lookin for lol. A little slow paced though to be frank, maybe if I could click for money somehow too (like cookie clicker) that would help fill the gaps.
Made me think of a little iphone puzzle game! The little blurbs in between were an added touch for sure. I think I was on the last elvel, but I was stuck for like 10 minutes and then it randomly reset, not really sure why, maybe I pressed a button that resets the whole game. I knew what I had to do, just wasn't good enough to pull it off! Was the one after "even when it seems impossible" ironically
I was a little confused by the "Guess the original message" part, on my first one it gave me the thing I was decoding as an option so I chose that and won, but the next time it didn't so I had no idea what to click and lost. I'm very interested to check back in once voting ends, I'm sure the progression of the phrases will be interesting! Very unique and cool idea
Cool concept, and pretty graphics! I couldn't seem to gain money, I'd mostly just hover between 3k and 5k from new plants coming in and selling plants, but it doesn't seem like there's anything to spend it on anyways. I like that I could control the pace by just not picking up the new plant, that helped with it feeling super hectic at first. Well done!
Poor dog :( Lol, fun game! Difficult enough to stay interesting but not insanely hard. The rotate controls felt backwards to me so that took some getting used to
I dig the unique take on a platformer/shooter! The coins weren't visible on my screen, so I'd just randomly get them sometimes, but I get to 10 before I died. Would love to see a shop made post-mortem <3
Made it to wave 14! The graphics were really satisfying, and the gameplay was pretty fun! I'm almost tempted to pull out an autoclicker and see how much easier that makes it ;)
I keep dying randomly after 3 beats, I'm not really sure why. The game is incredibly pretty and it's fun for the few beats I can play, but yeah I'm not sure if there's a bug or I'm missing something. I loled when I accidentally shot myself the first time, really well done with all of it.
That music put a huge smile on my face lol, fun game too! I got like 7505 or somethin like that
Web version isn't working for me, stuck loading at 90%, same thing happened on my game and I had to do this: "Disabling compression in the Unity project settings (player settings - publishing settings - compression format - disabled) does the trick"
I'm on my work PC so I can't download, please @ me when it's fixed and I'll come back and play/rate!
My years of cheesing videogames is the only reason I figured out level 5 so fast lol. Level 6 was tricky, just required some timing. Was hoping for a little bit of a final battle or something, but time restrictions and all! Love the art style. Would love to see this worked on post-mortem!
This is amazing! One of the most beautiful LDs I've seen, and the gameplay is very well done too. I could see this being a lil arcade machine or something, also the music changing speed with the slow motion is a nice touch. It was really hard to find all of the enemies sometimes, maybe that's intentional but it got a little frustrating, maybe a minimap or something could help with that. I got stuck on the really big level that starts with all the bright mushrooms, but it was really pretty while I was stuck there!
Cool little puzzle game! I think you could have gone with less tutorial text, the game mostly speaks for itself! Was a little thrown off with the game just reset back to the beginning, but was impressed at how many levels/concepts you got in there.
as a KSP fanatic, this really tickles me somewhere special. I very recently made an NBody simulator and this is a really cool gameplay idea for that, after spending inhuman amounts of time trying to figure out stable orbits this came really naturally to me. Incredibly well done, I'd play post-mortem.
One idea if you develop it later is puzzle/challenge maps that require you to achieve specific orbits? Or maybe star ratings on each level, like don't destroy the big planet on level 2 for an extra star, change only 2 orbits for an extra star, only use X delta V (would need a reader/indicator) for an extra star.
Again, really well done! I love this.
*smash watch* Violence isn't the answer to this one..
Violence is always the answer, darn it! Cool submission, love a good text adventure, couldn't quite figure it out though. Tried jamming and breaking all the different components but nothing would work, maybe just wasn't creative enough with my verbs.
This is amazing lol, love the sound effects and the graphics are nice too! Reminded me of playing slot cars with my dad. The AI was way better than me, my fastest lap is 6.4s
lmao finally beat the first level with 1600 and feeling so proud of myself, then I get a big fat "POOR", I give you credit this is a properly tough game! It's very well done, I got a "TERRIBLE" on the second level, and by the third level I was just getting kinda lost, a minimap could be helpful for that possibly. The gameplay is really satisfying, I think I'll come back to this when I have more time and go for some better scores. The 2.5D graphics is very well done, and the audio is fitting. Overall really well rounded (and very difficult!) game :)
lmao what even is this, I think I love it. It's like a weird foster child of LSD on the play station.
Took me a second to get the hang of it, but once I did it was really intuitive. I could 100% see this being a mobile game, I got to 42 before deciding the difficulty doesn't seem to be ramping up, but this is definitely a relaxing little game!
Wish I could reset the towers, with these mechanics I think it would have made more sense to just set the direction it fires right when you place it, but maybe I'm not realizing a mechanic. This also seems pretty meta-dependent, either I'm not creative at tower defenses or there aren't a lot of different ways to play this one. My towers seemed to shoot slower when I'd click twice, if I spam clicked and then finished recording they'd fire much quicker, found myself restarting multiple times because I could have set it up better had I known X or Y thing, but then once I realized how all the towers worked it was a piece of cake. I really like where this is going, just needs some balance!
The atmosphere is really well done, I was scaring myself before I even had anything scary happen, I ran out of sprint and tripped and that made me jump IRL lol, I beat it my first time without ever seeing anything. Second run I challenged myself to minimal bushes, only saw the guy for like half a second on the far side of my screen and it kinda made me laugh tbh. Third time I played, I was cocky, figured this sped up music meant nothing, then pretty much shat my pants after 2 sticks when homie ran at me. To be fair, it WAS a cheesy jumpscare ;)
@kameia I'll look into it! Funny enough, the music is generated entirely by AI, blows me away how it pushes out such decent lil tunes
@danvil I appreciate you taking the time to get all the way through! I'll be sure to check your entry out tonight.
Ahh thank you all for the encouragement, I was a lil bummed not finishing this one since it was a fun idea <3
Neat concept, could have used a tutorial but figured it out after reading the description lol The art was neat, and sound effects were pretty well done too. Could see this being a fast paced don't-starve-esque game
That was incredible. Reminds me of that old flash game, I can't imagine this didn't take some direct inspiration from that lol
Realized I could skip frogger too :)
Really did not expect to play a powerpoint game today, you have succeeded in bringing a smile to my face.
I think the enemies were broken for me, they don't actually shoot and I let like 15 hit me without dying. Audio was a little overwhelming. Potential for a fun little arcade game though
Cool atmosphere, and neat graphics. Cool take on the theme too. Lots of content in a small amount of time, though I struggled to beat it. Would love to see this project continued post-dare
Hello again from LD27! We played each other's games 9 years ago with this same theme.
Is there a windows EXE? Embedded games run at like 5fps on my machine. Funny enough, my comment 9 years ago included "had some pretty bad framerates in some situations" lmao.
I escaped the time loop! ... I think I cheated though lol My dead body must've went through the goal, was really struggling to get the one after the orb teleporter. You should hide the tutorial box after a certain amount of time, was disorienting trying to click the orb through it.
Cool take on a metroid-style map exploration game
Really difficult, couldn't make it to the end but had a lot of fun trying! My only suggestion would be to work on how the notes sync up with the song, there were times I could move without staring at the right side but other times it felt just a little out of sync/unforgiving compared to most rhythm games I'm used to. The amount of songs made up for this though, and the challenge of having to look at both screens was interesting.
Really solid entry!
Really solid retro arcade game, reminds me of a lot of games from the 2010s
Would love to see what this looks like with a vector/wireframe artstyle
Really difficult, but incredibly well done. Could definitely see a game like this in mario party or somethin like that. I think the physics kept throwing me off, would be curious how it plays if the pieces were locked to a grid and unaffected by gravity
Really cool idea, and curious what the other campaigns are. Really struggled to get any kills, I think my framerate was so low that collisions weren't quite working right with the fast projectiles. If you @ me later tonight I'll be able to download it and try again hopefully with better frames!
Cute little game! Could've been a little more challenging, beat it in about a minute, the graphics were cute though :3
Really neat artwork! Interesting idea for a platformer too, would be neat to see more threats implemented into the game
Was moving a little too fast for me, was getting overwhelmed at nearly every puzzle lol. Interesting take on a renpy game though
Solid first attempt! Could have been more challenging, beat it without losing a single time so it went quick.
Really well done! Could see this being a game I would have spent way too many hours on in school on one of those OG flash sites. Graphics are well done, though something about the way the screen pans so aggressively each move is a little jarring to my eyes. Sound effects were fitting, and the different types of tiles really helped with a smooth ramp up in difficulty. Occasionally found my movement doubling on some levels that have no arrow tiles which got frustrating, though I was playing in the web player and most games have been performing poorly for me there, so I wonder if it had to do with my inconsistent framerate.
Got the first 2 lights, but couldn't get the last one. Having some performance issues but was able to appreciate solving the puzzles, the randomness is cool too. I think at one point I just dissolved everything with acid lol.
is there a desktop release that I can try for better framerate?
Fun gameplay, solid artwork, and I can't help but love the sound effects lol. For a second I didn't realize my clones were looping back and thought it was multiplayer, that would've been insane
Cute little game, graphics are stunning, thought not sure what the tie with the theme is supposed to be. Could have used an indicator back to the pen
I got the star! The last level was pretty challenging, but beat it first try. I would have liked if there was 1 more even more challenging level, but the pace of the difficulty ramp up was really good up to end.
Felt like I was getting lucky a lot of the time not having moons hit each other, overall decent idea for a puzzle game. Would be cool to see it developed more
The graphics and audio are super satisfying, I would love to see more little handheld sims like this. Great work! I got 790 :)
Took me a little bit to understand the game, but once I did I got a solid run and had a lot of fun, got exactly 500! Capture.JPG The balance on this game was really well done, at first I didn't understand the characters with the X-> symbol but eventually as I started discarding, I figured out why those are tricky, damn stowaways! I also thought it'd be nice to have science do more after all ships are upgraded, but in a way having the useless cards in the deck was another form of a challenge. Really well done alltogether. The graphics were nice and fitting for the game too. The fix ship button sometimes wouldn't appear without some mouse wigglin which was a tad frustrating, and I found one glitch where upgrading a ship makes the card disappear. Other than those nitpicks, well done!
@matt-swieboda Thanks! Yeah multiplayer is a lot easier to set up in Roblox Studio than most engines, still had to do some netcode, but overall pretty straightforward. When players (or bots) die, they leave a trail behind that you can pick up for more points, you can see them in Avi's clip :)
@avi Yup that was me! Thanks for playin, I'm glad I got the astronomer stamp of approval lol
This might be one of my favorite games I've played so far! Haven't seen someone implement a progression/shop system into galaga before, and it's really well done. The audio for the UFOs is a little deafening, but that's the only complaint I have, I may actually come back to this one though! Made it to wave 9 on my third attempt, I'm not the best at this style of arcade game lol
I really like this one! I got 8600 on my 3rd try, and about to have my partner try it :) Really well balanced for such a short amount of time, and the variety in attacks was super neat. Only immediate suggestions are to create an indicator for attacks that provide lifesteal (I could intuitively guess, but people who don't speak english as well might not realize which attacks give health back), and the spellbook/board thingy could use some fine tuning, I found it was either completely unrestricting or game-ending.
Edit: wow I need to pay more attention to descriptions lol, I just realized too that you can stack the words and rotate them. I was just placing them horizontally from top to bottom and it seemed to work out
One of the most unique platformers I've seen so far in LD! The zone was a little glitchy (or at least not behaving the way I'd expect), other than that I really liked this. Lots of potential for speedrunning, and unique puzzles in the maps with how you move faster outside the zone than in the zone. The camera and collision were a little jerky at times but now I'm just being nitpickey.
Also assuming 0.2 is the correct version for the rating so played that one: after 14 individual boxes were on the floor, they just stopped falling, so not sure if it eventually does a "tetris" kinda thing. I see where you were going with the idea, just couldn't get it to work as expected.
Ayyy nice, glad I found another game made in Roblox!
The collision detection was a little wonky, other than that neat little puzzle platformer!
Oh wow, was not expecting this to be a puzzle game, was anticipating an endless survival style game. Really creative and well executed! The graphics are beautiful too. I'll have to come back to beat the 3rd level, lost all my trees to the great flood close to the end :(
At first I thought I was supposed to collect the bullets lol, I should try reading more. I got 707, I'd recommend making the difficulty ramp up a little faster, it felt a bit too easy for too long. Changing the sprites for the bullets every so often was a nice touch, cute little game!
I won the game! The last level was a nice challenge, felt like I had to think outside the box a little. Super nit-pickey, but I would have loved if I could drag and drop instead of click each spot, and a way to delete/undo. Well done puzzle game, I saw another similar space themed puzzle game and I like this one more ;)
Feels like a classic SNES game, the slimes are cute too. Maybe more enemies could add some spice too it, but overall a good start to a run and gun game
The controls were pretty fun once getting the hang of it, not a bad entry for being short on time! The difficulty ramped up quick, but was able to improve each attempt for a few runs straight. The dash wasn't all too helpful, but I found myself using it just to be flashy lol
Edit: Same problem as jandourek for me, couldn't see the healthbar and thought it was just missing from the submission!
Reminds me of my submission for LD46, but a lot prettier! If you keep working on this, would love to see an item to speed up the ship and a timer, make it a little speed-runny.
Cool start to an idea, but without a money/shop system I think this game lacks much, well, gameplay. Not sure what the difference between hard and easy are, but on hard I just placed 24 farms around the giant, fit like 12 storages on the top and bottom, and spammed e until I won. Graphics were cool, and again I think this is the start to a cool idea, just didn't get much gameplay out of it personally.
Honestly couldn't tell what was going on, was mostly just clicking around until I lost, it seemed like you're supposed to keep 4 stats balanced by clicking the different options? Seems like a cool base idea for a game, just would have loved some more clear information on what's happening.
I would have loved if there was a little more direction/information on how to use the dials effectively, but it was still cool just blindly scanning around. Really neat visual effect, and the audio is very soothing too. Even though I didn't fully understand the gameplay, I enjoyed it a lot :)
My high score is 45! We both made space themed snake games too, so bonus points for that ;) Well executed, the space is misleadingly small. I can't quite put words to it, but it doesn't feel like it's really a sphere, but instead a fish eye lens effect? I felt like I was reaching the same spot really quickly relative to what the "sphere" looks like
Funny and unique little game! Definitely did not have enough space, kept killin myself lol
For my mind will always be free :) Really well done puzzles, almost gave up at a point but stuck it out and was well worth it.
Neat little sim, would love to see more controls expanded on. Took me an embarrassingly long time to realize I can pause the game to give commands/assign roles, which added appreciation to the AI behind the lil dudes Always liked playing with little sim toys like this, and very cool that you made it from scratch!
Really pretty game, satisfying audio too! I found myself getting lost quite frequently, but I think that's kind of the point :D Gives strong portal vibes, those sentry noises are terrifying. Some small bugs: I figure it was meant to be played with an XBox controller, because the menu says 'Press A to select' but I had to use arrow keys + enter; also had some trouble with my 'escape' key seeming to either exit to main menu, or full-quit the application. Opening doors is a little funny, I figure there are/were plans to include more of a 'challenge' while waiting for the cooldown to ping it 4 times, would love to see this behave like an alert to the drones and each door lock sends another drone after you.
One of the most unique and fun puzzle games I've seen on here in a while, I decided I didn't wanna with the rules and dove in and had a lot of fun figuring it out. Feels like it's a really solid balance of constantly fighting to keep the hackers away and sacrificing users, realizing it's important to still keep the 'dead' columns clear for more space to create firewalls. Very well done. My best so far is 16 and I'm keeping this open and seeing if I can do better.
mz-015 has left the planet :) Nice foundation for a the ultimate segway man platform puzzle game Would've liked to see something like a powerup pickup for more jumps, seemed I could randomly either double or triple jump Also was a little misleading needing 21 fuel for the ship, had 0 left and almost closed out assuming there was no ending, or maybe the text just didn't update when I inserted the fuel. Nice submission overall, had a very retro feel, down to the jarry camera around geometry ;)
Reminds me of a mobile game I played at some point, I loved the art on the characters and appreciate that I had an idea what they wanted based on their appearance. Nice touch of progress having a new set of characters and recipe combos too. Impressive amount of art/interesting characters
agreed with sir oeueGHa
Super impressive that this was done in 12 hours, there's definitely something here! Solid base for a game that could be reminiscent of something like Peglin
The graphics are awesome lol, nice difficulty ramp up too!
I'm normally not one for a lot of dialogue in gamejam games, but this was really well done and an interesting mechanic for more engaging dialogue. I can only imagine the tree/spiderweb of dialog there is here, akin to something like the stanley parable, but the interface was delivered in a way that makes me yearn for a more engaging dialogue system in some of my favorite RPGs
