LD38 — A Small World

Crumble by BinarySpark 2017-05-02T18:17:30Z

@steve-johnson Thank you for your feedback! <3

This was my first jam ever and the one thing I've learned is that one should not make multiplayer games, because almost everyone who will be trying it won't actually be able to play multiplayer. The singleplayer mode (with the keys and time and whatnot) was tacked on to try and at least offer *something* remotely interesting, but I guess I just should have aimed for a singleplayer experience in the first place. Oh well, next time maybe.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Game of Life by StaNov 2017-08-02T13:01:54Z

This was pretty nice, quite simple with mechanics but nice to play. I think that the UI could really do with a little bit of polish, such as button textures. The variety of things to do is nice, and I like that new buttons appear every now and then.

I'll be honest, the music was getting on my nerves after a while. And it appears that you can click a button to override your current action, even if it isn't finished yet. But overall, nice work.

Power Plant Simulator. by BroRawr 2017-08-02T13:48:35Z

Cool game! I quite like the art, it's simple and charming. The music is nice and adds to the slightly rushed mood of the game.

I wasn't entirely sure what was going on at first, particularly I was confused that the leftmost generator was supposed to go up rather than down.

Overall, very nice and thematic time killer

Chimster Gigafactory by Xarras 2017-08-01T20:55:04Z

This is awesome! I absolutely love the TV show, it really makes the game. It's mechanically quite simple, but a good timekiller. I think y'all did a phenomenal job and you should be proud.

Last Hope by mintarcade 2017-08-02T12:55:07Z

Very strong atmosphere, I like the emissive textures and the music helps set the vibe. It was quite difficult, I had some trouble figuring out what was where, and I occasionally felt a bit lost.

Boaty McBoatface by mango-malarkey 2017-08-01T12:23:24Z

This has quite a lot of mechanical complexity, surprisingly so for a 48 hour effort. I'm a fan of the art, got a bit of a weak spot for pixely stuff. You may want to improve the UI a bit. It looks unpolished; things like font sizes are a bit off. Nice job overall!

The Hackerman by Steing 2017-08-01T17:33:52Z

Interesting. It has some dry satirical humor, which I quite like. The sound effects helped in making things more interesting; the Avast notification had me chuckling. Some points of improvement: I personally think that the popups appear too frequently, and the keyboard mashing sequence is flawed in that once you find one or two keys that are safe, you can just spam those. Or even hold the key down, that works too! Overall, well done.

Lucis by Kristian David 2017-07-31T19:10:59Z

Looks pretty nice. Charming lighting effects. It seems to be quite difficult (or I'm doing something wrong), and I'm not sure what the function is of shooting at the other bulbs.

Unobtainium by BinarySpark 2017-07-31T13:28:23Z

@aterlamia Hey, thank you! Unfortunately I have no idea how the Linux build works, I don't have a machine to test it on myself :( If you have any tips on exporting Linux builds from Unity, I'd love to hear them!

Unobtainium by BinarySpark 2017-08-01T18:01:52Z

@ianburnette Thanks for your feedback! I've heard other people mention that they couldn't dig sideways, and I hope I've fixed that in the recent update. Hopefully.

Unobtainium by BinarySpark 2017-08-02T15:08:08Z

@rubr Thank you again for showing me the map generation issues! I think I fixed them in the last patch.

Unobtainium by BinarySpark 2017-08-02T20:42:21Z

@mintarcade Wow, thank you! I'm super glad to hear they liked it!

Unobtainium by BinarySpark 2017-08-03T17:11:03Z

@mr-houdini @wheffle Thank you for the kind words <3 I'm super glad you liked it

Downpour by LuckyFeathers 2017-08-01T13:09:08Z

Very atmospheric, I like the visuals and the lighting effects. It's sometimes not entirely clear if something is part of the background or not.

Power Hog by Kashif 2017-07-31T12:33:36Z

It's a bit quirky, but not bad. It took me a while to figure out that I was supposed to be holding Space, rather than mashing it.

It seems to be a little bit glitchy, too; there are some issues with tables apparently being occupied while no one is sitting there, sitting on top of other people ( https://i.imgur.com/AQaX0s9.png ) and not making use of tables at all ( https://i.imgur.com/2iXzJ8g.png ).

Good effort for a weekend's work though! I like what you did with the theme, I just think the game could have been a bit more fleshed out.

HE BEAT HER. by Angela He 2017-08-01T11:51:26Z

Very impressive. Nice art, music and sound effects, and an interesting interpretation of the theme! I couldn't find a solution but very nice work overall.

In Battery We Trust by PGDevPatryk 2017-08-01T12:16:44Z

Not bad! I like the vibe it gives, it's dark and creepy. Some sound effects on the flashlight toggle, and perhaps for the enemies, would have been a nice touch. Very pretty art, and I like the ominous background music.

Scale of Life by ilya_kozlov 2017-08-01T13:24:16Z

Very very nice! I love the user feedback, it feels nice and rhythmical. It looks great too, and the music fits nicely. This is impressive work!

Power - a puzzle game by hecticgrape 2017-07-31T11:39:46Z

A nice little puzzle game. There were a few levels in there that had me properly confused for a while, only to then have that little "aha" moment that makes puzzle games so satisfying. So nicely done.

Side note: I don't feel like this reflects the jam's theme. Sure, you mentioned it's about power cells, but the game doesn't actually _do_ anything with the idea of losing power. It could be interesting to try and wrap it in a gameplay mechanic.

Overall, I like it.

Televised Intelligence Manager (TIM) by ianburnette 2017-07-31T19:27:50Z

I'm very impressed. It looks nice, I really like the narration, and I think you had a number of interesting mechanics going on. The style kinda reminded me of The Turing Test, in a good way.

There were a couple of rather awkward camera angles. Particularly during the air duct section, I felt disoriented and didn't know where I was going. But overall, really good work.

Deep Space Nine Volts by Boxfort 2017-08-01T21:11:03Z

It took me a little while to figure out what was going on - I wasn't aware of the charging stations in first room - but once I figured that out, I started to enjoy this!

This was very nice. A simple game, mechanically, but pretty well executed and quite fun. There's never a dull moment, you always have to walk around and carry batteries. The art and tileset strongly reminds me of Space Station 13. Dunno if that is intentional, but that was kinda the look and feel I got from it. That's a good thing, btw. The music is nice, but it seems like the loop isn't that long so it kinda loses its charm after a few minutes.

One thing I noticed: you walk faster diagonally. You probably add the two movement vectors together and forgot to normalize.

All in all, I'm impressed. Nice work!

Night Driver by nbitsstudio 2017-08-02T15:32:21Z

I like the atmosphere. It's not often that you see a game with wireframe-style visuals, and this one pulls it off quite nicely. Good art, nice music. The style and heavy use of pink kinda reminds me of Hotline Miami. Nice work!

Current by erebus 2017-08-01T12:03:15Z

Nice work! It looks decent and it's a nice puzzle game. My only gripe would be that it's very hard to get into for someone who doesn't know what the logic gate symbols mean. Not a problem for me, but someone else might bump into that.

RulesQuest by Adrien Dittrick 2017-08-01T17:49:57Z

Hmmm, this is a bit of a strange one imo. For the most part I didn't really know what I was doing; some explanation or tutorial popups would be nice. For example, I didn't figure out that you could pick up these powerup items and bring them back to the castle.

But once I got into it a bit more, I could see a charming little RPG. The sound effects are nice, and it's programmed well. I just think you could maybe put some more time in balancing some things. I've seen other comments mention that at some point you can just stand still near the summoning circles and instantly kill anything that comes close.

Overall, I think it's nice, definitely has potential, just needs a little bit of polish.

Station Zeta by Olezen 2017-07-31T22:40:47Z

I like it. There are some interesting mechanics going on; I like the fact that you can retrieve shots, which makes you think about where to place them. It's dark and moody, and the pixel art is nice.

It can be quite difficult to see what's going on and where I should be going. I'm pretty sure I got stuck at some point, after getting the weapon upgrade, because I just didn't know where to go.

Edit: Finished it now. The ending animation is a nice touch!

Not Politically Correct by Jaggent-aka-shouke 2017-08-02T15:53:58Z

Alright, this was pretty interesting. It's quite complex, it took me a while to figure out how to even start out the right way. I like the pixel art, and I think the game achieves what it sets out to do, which is not being politically correct. The birbs are a nice touch.

Overall, good work.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Embol by azlen 2017-12-05T21:50:51Z

A very, very clever take on the theme. I think this is probably the most innovative game I've seen this LD.

HTTP: The Game by SaFrMo 2017-12-04T21:34:27Z

I absolutely love this game! UI flows very smoothly, and it really reminds me of Papers, Please. Cool concept, very well executed.

PullPals by eric-lathrop 2017-12-05T22:09:39Z

Cutesy game theme, with lovely sound effects. I'm not quite convinced that it fits the theme well, but regardless it's a good game.

Potion Commotion by boaheck-artgent 2017-12-05T13:48:02Z

A lovely cutesy art style. The movement is a bit off, but I found the graphics and music to be quite charming.

The Floor is Lava by BinarySpark 2017-12-04T22:21:18Z

@corc0 It does have a jump, press spacebar!

Thank y'all for your feedback! <3

The Floor is Lava by BinarySpark 2017-12-06T10:25:38Z

@dr-argus Thank you! I don't suppose you have a VOD somewhere? I'd love to watch it; I'm collecting feedback and intend to continue working on this game.

The Floor is Lava by BinarySpark 2017-12-06T18:33:45Z

@nick-rafalski @nokusu @gwolf86 Thank you for your feedback and kind words!

Interestingly I was actually thinking about making the level *wider*, to perhaps give the player more room to manoeuver. You make a good case though, I'll have to think about this some more.

@draperdanman My previous LD entry, Unobtainium, is based on Motherload!

I intend to continue working on this, and yes, there will be music! If you're interested, keep an eye on the itch.io page, any updates will appear there.

The Floor is Lava by BinarySpark 2017-12-29T15:32:15Z

@kyle-pham Thank you for your feedback! The issues you've mentioned are addressed in the Postjam version which I'll be releasing soon. I posted a video and some notes on the itch.io page, if you're interested! https://binaryspark.itch.io/the-floor-is-lava/devlog/19452/ld40-results-postjam-version

Horny Bunny by Thomas FUentes 2017-12-05T19:10:50Z

A very ... interesting take on the theme. It's rather weird, but I like it. xD Nice work! The art is nicely drawn.

Mini Mod by Riker Greenslade 2017-12-05T12:43:33Z

Looks very pretty. I really like the detail that the music provides, with the extra instruments playing when you take certain actions. It looks very, very polished for an LD game.

A Tale about Tail by barsoosayque 2017-12-05T14:04:36Z

Fun and cutesy game, I totally dig the art. I got stuck underground, but yeah the comments showed there was a double jump. Whoops, might want to mention that in game. Small sneaky thieving fox is best fox.

Stacks O' Cats by Lumous 2017-12-04T22:39:35Z

This is super silly, but I like it. The art is oddly charming.

Stand your ground by GistNoesis 2017-12-05T13:33:40Z

An odd take on the theme. Aiming could be a bit difficult, and if there's a lot of spheres coming at you it's nearly impossible to fend them all off. I do like the concept though, with some polish this could make for an excellent, say, mobile game!

Purr-suasion by Raziyya 2017-12-06T15:18:34Z

This is a weirdly clever game. Controlling cats with *the mouse*, eh?

Robo Tomb by Xacur 2017-12-04T21:27:37Z

Odd little game but I quite like it. Seems really Bomberman-inspired. The sound effects are cool, and after I figured out what exactly I had to do, it was pretty fun. I do think that the screenshake on bomb detonation is a bit too harsh.

Battle Survivor by Anaconda Games 2017-12-06T18:09:10Z

Nice work. It looks very, very good. It was a bit unclear at first that you had to change elements, but otherwise a fun experience.

Smack`Em! by mess110 2017-12-04T22:50:02Z

Very polished audio and graphics. Nice work.

MAMMONITE LD40 by bigmetre 2017-12-05T12:55:51Z

Interesting spin on the theme. I really like the art, it looks lovely, but I feel like the game could use some more polish. Things like being able to turn the camera, and making health bars always face the cam.

LD42 — Running out of space

Running in some sort of space wich is some times a little bit lacking of some... by Nicso 2018-08-16T17:14:38Z

Looks nice, plays a bit confusingly. Wasn't quite sure where I was supposed to go, or which objects I was supposed to throw together (I know you posted some spoilers in the description, but obviously that's not quite the right way to go about it.) Other than that it felt quite polished. Good stuff.

Space Scrap! by Alex Lutay 2018-08-16T17:09:32Z

Yep, I see it's already been mentioned a bunch of times in the comments. This looked very promising but I was super confused what I was doing, which resources I needed for doing what, etc. A tutorial or a bunch of tooltips would go a long way. Still though, very impressive work, you guys deserve a nice spot on the ranking list! :)

Loot Keeper by outstar 2018-08-14T20:21:04Z

Very, very impressive graphics. Blown away by the quality of the sprites for a LD game. It's stylish, fits the game well. It's also nicely augmented by the sound effects.

Nice interpretation of the theme, too.

The tutorial was a bit wordy for my liking. Maybe it's an idea to introduce new concepts as they are relevant, instead of saying everything from the get-go?

WinDOORS by spelos 2018-08-14T20:31:58Z

Clever. I like the snarky little comments here and there (that list of update files though), and also the YouTube video embed made me chuckle.

I was a little bit confused initially by the achievement popup in the corner, I wasn't sure if it was actually part of the OS or not. But other than that, nice work! :D

Dear Leader's Diet Plan by Historymaker118 2018-08-16T17:24:39Z

Awesome interpretation of the theme. Not too sure how the game works tho, lol, or I guess what the win condition is. Great work!

Dark Colosseum by BinarySpark 2018-08-14T20:50:24Z

@Rammy294 I changed the itch.io page, I overlooked that. Thanks for mentioning it!

Sorry to hear the controls weren't to your liking! If you weren't aware; you should be able to jump over gaps using Spacebar (or A/Y on an Xbox controller).

Thanks for playing!

Dark Colosseum by BinarySpark 2018-08-14T21:03:45Z

@realmar None! All code and art assets were made during the event.

For proof, I put a timelapse on YouTube: youtube.com/watch?v=K50OrAfUtoc (I hope this doesn't embed, I don't want to spam the thread lol)

Thanks a lot for the kind words, and for playing!

I'm B'walkin' Here! by Ziamor 2018-08-15T00:15:36Z

Really digging the art here! It looks super nice, I found the character sprites quite charming.

The music is nice, it could perhaps have done with a few more sound effects, possibly footsteps, or some audio feedback to actions like pushing pedestrians away. Other than that, really nice work!

Sugar Withdrawal by Raccoon_JS 2018-08-14T20:29:22Z

Very short, but sweet (ha!). Nice work for your first entry!

I did notice that I got stuck on walls quite often. Maybe you could try allowing some part of the player's movement, and ignore only as much as needed to keep them out of walls?

Dementia by Kjetil 2018-08-14T19:51:00Z

This is really quite unique for a LD game, maybe even touching...

A quick thought: how about speeding up the text a bit?

Street Sucker by KostblLb 2018-08-16T17:19:04Z

Oddly charming. This would be really great with networking but I totally get that's not easy to pull off in a game jam. Cool interpretation of the theme.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Kaiten by wdebowicz 2018-12-08T14:56:33Z

This is actually really nice. You've got an interesting, good-looking base going on here, and from here you could add all sorts of new ideas and mechanics to spice it up. Nice work!

Point & Sin - Ludum Dare 43 edition by Simanis 2018-12-08T14:39:35Z

A nice little Diablo-inspired game. It looks very good for a jam game, though of course you've spent two jams working on it. The style is quite nice overall. A few more options and possibilities in combat would perhaps be a nice addition.

Floofs by kaeveris 2018-12-08T14:49:58Z

A nice compo game! A few thoughts: why not use the mouse for camera controls, rather than WASD? It feels a bit harder to control than it probably should be. Also, like some others have already mentioned, my projectiles had a tendency to veer to the left or right, causing me to hit floofs I didn't intend to. Good stuff though!

Floofs by kaeveris 2018-12-08T14:49:59Z

[removed double post, sorry about that!]

Alien Sacrificial Predicament by nanocube75 2018-12-15T22:40:52Z

A few comments on the presentation: - Consider not packing your game in a RAR file. Not everyone has access to a RAR unpacking tool. - Seriously be careful with updating the game after the jam. It's kind of unfair. If you found a serious problem, you can fix it, but it's polite to provide links to both old/new versions of the game, and to put a changelog on the page. - You included your git repository in the game's package. Not sure if that was intentional.

Those things aside...

... this game is LIT

I was not expecting a Quake-like game to appear on LD any time soon, and this was really good! Music was pumping, the visuals were _just right_, and it was pretty fun to play.

The intro cutscene was pretty good too! That's the kind of stuff that you usually don't get in a jam game.

Nice work!

Downgradius by xjcl 2018-12-15T22:31:18Z

Nice work. The comments above echo most of my sentiments. I do like the title pun tho hehe

The Legend of Jam by Naboki 2018-12-08T14:44:03Z

Style reminds me a fair bit of Legend of Grimrock. I wasn't quite sure what to do or what was going on, but just clicking stuff seems to work, haha. A bit of an intro or a quick guide would go a long way.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Dissuasion by good.enough 2019-05-06T18:23:16Z

A very curious game. The intro made me think that was the actual game at first, but there we go. It almost feels like a game jam spin on something like Papers Please.

Very nice work. I like games that spin a bit of a narrative. The artwork is cutesy and the music fits nicely.

Like some others have said, a skip button would be very nice, and perhaps a few sound effects.

Triple Laser Death March by BinarySpark 2019-05-07T15:48:39Z

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

@fireslash Yep, there are lots of places you can clip through walls if you really try :) Especially slanted walls and crates close to walls. Didn't have time to put much more work in the character controller sadly.

@magnanix Ah yeah now that you mention it, some music would've been a nice addition. Oh well, next time!

Torture For A Living by Yorsh 2019-05-06T18:14:01Z

Well this is pretty brutal. ... I kinda like it though.

Really like the animations on the dudes, very well done, especially for a compo game! Nice work!

STUPID BEAST! by Simanis 2019-05-04T09:39:19Z

Nice work! Fun little game for sure.

In one of my attempts, the hunter got stuck outside the map: (He was twitching back and forth every frame.) It also appears to be possible to squeeze out of the map yourself, probably due to the high speed of the player character.

Other than that though, nice work. I assume the music belongs to PoE, so wouldn't really be fair to take it into consideration, but it did fit quite well.

firefox_GoOwrHdVCs.png

Blood Collector by icedmetal57 2019-05-06T18:01:55Z

It's a bit of a problem that the blood pickups regularly fall underneath the grey UI, making it unnecessarily difficult to spot where they are, or even if they're still there. Other than that, some hit feedback would've been really nice, for both incoming and outgoing damage. Interesting spin on clickers, though, they usually don't have a lose condition :) Nice work

Powerless by m110 2019-05-02T09:52:37Z

Nice entry. Two things I'd like to see changed, are supporting WASD for the hacking controls (I had to move my hand back and forth between the mouse and arrow keys, which is tedious), and secondly, that some baddies shouldn't start shooting the instant I open a door, because it feels unfair (you have no time to react). Other than that, good stuff!

Wu-Wei by luckyDaisy 2019-05-06T18:08:49Z

Nice game! I like the artwork, though personally I feel it would've been even nicer if it didn't blur at higher resolutions (point filtering vs bilinear, probably). Even if level design isn't your gig, this is pretty well made. Consider adding some basic sound effects next time, for that extra bit of oomph? I don't see what this has to do with the theme, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Xochipilli's Trade by Giezi 2019-04-30T11:42:10Z

Looks good, general atmosphere and impression is nice. Boss is wayyyy to difficult for me tho. Consider shrinking the attack hitbox, and adding some telegraphing.

Blood Legacy by Magnanix 2019-05-04T09:33:25Z

I agree with most of the sentiments here, it's possibly a bit too hard, but otherwise a nice game. Consider adding some hit feedback (like flashes, particles, impact sounds) to give your weapons a bit more juiciness.

Age Waves by Notekri 2019-05-02T09:43:10Z

Consider adding some hit feedback, not just for the juiciness (to give your attacks more impact) but also to tell me that I managed to hit something at all. Same for inverse, when you get hit yourself.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Heading North by uchiro 2020-04-26T15:18:14Z

I really like the aesthetic, it reminds me a lot of Don't Starve. (The trees especially.) It's a bit unclear what I'm supposed to be doing however, and some feedback that would be useful seems to be missing, such as how much food/health a character has left, or what some of the (non-obvious) items do.

Regardless, this is an interesting prototype for sure. Keep going.

The God Of Adventurers by Lucille Blumire 2020-04-26T15:23:19Z

Cool game, nice aesthetic and charming sound work. Though it seems to be a bit difficult to pick up due to the speed at which happens (the different tiles could use some explanation for example, or things like suggestions of nice tile combos) I enjoyed playing it. Has potential!

Coalesce by James Dunlap 2020-04-24T21:45:35Z

Interesting idea, definitely. I was wondering what you were going to do with the split screen, and having differences between them is actually a cool game idea to explore. Wacky art (which I like) and some nice atmosphere on the speakers.

As tips: the movement feels very floaty, because of the long acceleration/deceleration and low gravity. If you want to make your platformer feel snappier, consider tuning variables like that.

Cub Valley by BinarySpark 2020-04-24T15:13:49Z

@gorypixels Did you have a specific problem preventing you from progressing? I might be able to look into it.

Thanks everyone for the awesome feedback!

Cub Valley by BinarySpark 2020-04-24T16:11:14Z

@gorypixels Did you have a controller plugged in? If so, try unplugging it and restarting the game. That's a known bug, but we weren't able to fix it in time.

Cub Valley by BinarySpark 2020-04-25T08:21:16Z

@gorypixels @joemid I pushed a new version v2 that should fix this issue, it's available separately on the itch.io page. Let me know if this fixes the softlock for you!

Cub Valley by BinarySpark 2020-04-25T17:05:56Z

@gorypixels @joemid Bleh, that's definitely a bug, you should be able to act on the first round. I was trying out a new input system during this jam but apparently it's pretty buggy still, I'm not really sure how to fix it :(. Thanks a bunch for trying again and giving it a try!

Cubleton Survive by Infraxion 2020-04-26T14:58:06Z

Interesting tool for creating some beats. I'm not really sure what I'm doing because I'm kinda bad at these things, but this is a cool concept, and it looks nice too.

boflowanica by BigDoggo 2020-04-24T21:37:39Z

Cool game, nice visuals and snappy to play. There are a bunch of interesting ideas in there, like the bees or the hidden spikes (those almost make me think of IWBTG).

As suggestions: I'm not a fan of the fact that the window is recreated every time the level restarts, because it's jarring. There's also a definite focus on perfect execution, which is probably not for everyone.

Pestilence by Whiteseraph 2020-04-26T15:37:13Z

Good execution for the most part - I personally wasn't very invested or interested in the narrative you had going on, but it was cool to play regardless. Nice music in the background. Looks nice. Well done overall!

Also the simon-says bit on the terminal sucks. :P

to Leave by 5imon 2020-04-21T18:09:55Z

Charming aesthetic, and good use of music too! And this is running on Unity 5.6? What? I couldn't figure out all the puzzles, though.

to Leave by 5imon 2020-04-21T18:19:26Z

Okay, I played it some more, and got it figured out. Very nice beats!

Heart of the World Tree by Arttu Halonen 2020-04-24T22:06:41Z

A fresh implementation of the classic pong design! Nice work getting some of the visual and audio work in; I know that's very easily overlooked with such little dev time. I quite like how small pieces of the barrier fall away, it reminds me of the terrain destruction in the old 2D Worms games.

The critiques I'd have with the gameplay have already been mentioned by other people, but still, this is a solid entry. Jams are perfect for trying out new weird things, so keep going.

The Fridge by robokarla 2020-04-24T21:56:54Z

Perhaps one of the fresher takes on the theme I've seen! Cutesy art, too (hello kittens), this is a cool entry, nice work.

Dozy Dungeon by Lesslwo 2020-04-26T14:46:26Z

Lovely aesthetic, and I quite like the idea of petting a monster to sleep, lol. It's a little bit too difficult for me, but I really like this entry nonetheless.

RobotDefender by RexGame 2020-04-21T17:55:40Z

Be sure to put your patch notes in the description. Most people will want to play the original, unpatched version because it's more fair that way (it's the actual jam entry). Nice tower defence setup, keep going. Consider ways you could give the player something to do once a round starts (I think I couldn't do anything until the round was over.)

Bankruptcy Countdown by Martin183 2020-04-24T15:26:44Z

Cool style, nice music, and absolutely hilarious to make a mess of the warehouse. I did struggle with the controls a bunch - how about something like scroll wheel or modifier keys (shift etc) to raise/lower the forklift? Also, bonus points for the cute cat.

Go Home! by acjh13 2020-04-21T18:29:21Z

There are some nice ideas here, and lots you could add to it! Makes me excited just thinking about it.

One comment I have is that there seems to be a dominant strategy in the levels, meaning there's really only one path you can follow to make sure you yell at everyone in time. Other than that though, nice work!

Guns N' Violets by Wallaby 2020-04-21T18:00:35Z

Gives me some Enter the Gungeon vibes. Nice work, I like it. I felt like the violet takes damage very quickly, so it can be difficult to get rid of an enemy quickly without taking damage. Consider some manner of recovery method, maybe?

Deer Quest by Brachistosauro 2020-04-26T15:08:29Z

A silly, almost trippy experience, very dry humor lol. I think I almost made it through save for the last red dude with the triple arrow shots, that was a bit too much. But I like it nonetheless, cool entry.

Also the medicine is best used on wolves anyway :3

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Toucan's Revenge by AfroAnt 2020-10-07T17:32:58Z

Love the aesthetic of this! Very polished, and some atmospheric music, I like it.

How about some more / different feedback when 'selecting' an item? I didn't understand at first how to 'make' my choice of item, and I thought I was just getting some flavor text.

Battle of Neptune by BinarySpark 2020-10-07T15:59:53Z

@thomas-carey Ooh, that'd be a cool idea! Thanks for the kind words!

@amkingtrp Thank you. To be entirely honest, we mostly just made the game we wanted to make, even if it didn't quite end up matching the theme.

@fupi @error-ff Thank you for the kind words

@elbbard Those both sound like bugs, sorry about that! The 'break the loop' button is just an exit button, it wouldn't do anything for the web version anyway. As for the weapon being stuck - I hope it didn't bother you too much!

@cnewt Thank you! Well, it's a roguelike for a reason

Battle of Neptune by BinarySpark 2020-10-08T18:53:13Z

@sharks Holy crap, thank you for the amazingly detailed and honest feedback, and thank you for taking the time to write all that. We really appreciate it  It's inspiring to think about the things we could've added or tweaked given just a bit more time, but yeah, that's just how jams go. But who knows? Maybe we could iterate on it some more...

*(Oh and consider the lawsuit dropped, yeah? xD)*

you are dead by noahw 2020-10-07T18:30:41Z

It took a few moments to get used to the momentum, but after that, pretty fun game! Nice work, I quite like the visual style as well.

HONK II by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-10-06T15:29:29Z

Lovely, consistent artwork, fun to play. I think the camera needs work because it felt dizzying at times (particularly the screen shake).

Loop City by Fupi 2020-10-07T16:12:04Z

Very unique, enjoyed playing it! It's a kind of hilarious idea to drop by someone's window in freefall and shout at them that the neighbor told them to shove it, and it looks like there's quite a few different quests and such. It feels, looks and sounds goofy, which is really neat. Nice work! :D

The thing with this kind of 'timing'-based gameplay is that I was quickly overwhelmed by what was happening, there was a bunch of text on screen, I'd apparently passed a shop already, and now I have a quest I need to read while falling? I didn't actually realize yet that the whole thing looped (guess I should've, because that's the theme) and this made it feel a bit more stressful at first than you probably intended.

GravLoop by AvatarGreggles 2020-10-07T18:42:14Z

Cool core mechanic, achieving height is of course a reliable way to give the player a good sense of progression. Movement felt good in general, and the music was nice. Really nice work, I like it, keep going!

Consider giving the volume a bit of balancing (particularly the alarm sound was really loud), and I got stuck a few times because the flying enemies appear to take away both fuel and momentum, which may be a bit excessive punishment (because it can take away the player's chance to recover).

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

And deeper goes the keeper by Nicso 2021-04-28T14:58:13Z

Gorgeous aesthetics! The ambient music and the lighting / particles make for a very pretty and captivating experience. Looks absolutely great. I'm not too sure what I was actually doing, but it was a cool experience nonetheless

Scython by BinarySpark 2021-04-29T13:16:58Z

@leggy You can deconstruct buildings by clicking on them and then clicking the Deconstruct button, this also refunds some Infernite.

Scython by BinarySpark 2021-04-30T11:17:38Z

@divford Better effects (including some VFX and sounds) for layer descents were on the backlog, but we just ran out of time unfortunately. Thank you for playing!

@darkfrost Cheers! I opted to turn off AA in the Web version to save on performance, just in case - but the Windows version has it on! Glad to hear it didn't affect your experience too much.

@bytinggames Thanks for the detailed feedback! It's definitely a more slow-paced game, and the abstract nature of the opponent probably isn't helping. But glad you liked it - as you mentioned, we were trying to do something different :)

@peachtreeoath Thank you! Creeper World was one of the inspirations, indeed! Yes, the manual-descent mechanic is definitely an added challenge; you get less Infernite than you would when waiting the full 120 seconds (to be exact, you get 66% of the "remaining" Siphon output for the layer). If we had more time, we would've liked to do better onboarding and explaining of some of the mechanics, but alas, time is a scarce resource during LD  And congrats on beating level 4!

Street Spark Racing by BytingGames 2021-04-28T14:22:57Z

Fun to play, looks cool, absolutely hilarious, thanks for sharing! I didn't expect to be playing a game where I'd be kicking cars, but here we are.

Delevator by guladam 2021-04-28T13:13:35Z

I have absolutely no idea what I just played, but charming art and nice haunting music. Good stuff!

Substate by beats 2021-04-28T14:29:00Z

A short but sweet experience! Also, nice voice acting

L1-S0N by Beardmage 2021-04-28T13:35:33Z

Very, very pretty! It plays nicely, and with the ambient music it feels very atmospheric and serene.

I figured out the idea of finding the three symbols quickly, but I was kicked out a couple times (probably due to touching the fog, which I realize now) which was a bit confusing.

Also, the character model is super cute, and the use of diegetic UI to show the jetpack fuel is creative, much better than just slapping it on static UI. Good stuff!

Lure of the Yamabiko by Nick Howard 2021-04-28T13:56:43Z

Cool game, a bit Touhou-esque but I can see a lot going on here! Music is fitting and it's polished quite well for a jam game, I enjoyed playing it.

I would've liked being able to perform fine movement; I found myself accidentally running into projectiles because movement is all-or-nothing, and doesn't really allow for carefully weaving between projectile when you're already close to them.

Great entry!

Frog by cacciatc 2021-04-28T13:47:48Z

Holy crap, that is amazing, kudos to you for creating a game on an embedded platform, and one so old, and one without official development tools to boot. I salute thee.

It was fun to play, I did take a bit too long to figure out you can also control the position of the bubble, but it was nice afterwards. Though the game crashed at the end :(

Great work!

The Deep Underneath by creepyface 2021-04-28T14:07:17Z

Pretty, charming pixel art! It's a very difficult game though, you get little time to react, and there's not a lot of feedback when hitting the dudes. It's atmospheric though, would've liked to see more!

Ludum Dare by She Wrote 2021-04-28T14:32:35Z

Short and sweet, and a little bit trippy :P

Decked Out Clone by mrbrainfed 2021-04-28T14:50:55Z

That lighting work is great! It feels atmospheric, nice work. Definitely too ambitious for a game jam, so it's probably also a good lesson in scoping  Looking forward to your future entries!

The Circle Of Suffering by Cr1stal 2021-04-28T13:21:48Z

Cool atmosphere! I wasn't able to interact with the keypad after finding the code, so I'm not sure if I did something wrong,

LD49 — Unstable

Raccoon from the Moon by BinarySpark 2021-10-06T11:40:46Z

@euix There are 111 snacks in total  You got very close! Thanks for playing!

Raccoon from the Moon by BinarySpark 2021-10-06T14:04:42Z

@cubebuc Whoops, it's entirely possible I might have missed one somewhere haha!

Raccoon from the Moon by BinarySpark 2021-10-06T14:09:23Z

@game-rs Thanks for the feedback! The freezer room has a few cabinets near the bottom which you can use to jump on, but you're right that it can be a bit too fiddly. Glad to hear you had a good time though!

Raccoon from the Moon by BinarySpark 2021-10-07T08:56:00Z

@liquidfunk @mhorth @rainbowdied @magnanix Thanks for the kind words

@peachtreeoath Wow, thanks for the detailed feedback! Appreciate it a lot. To be entirely honest, we pivoted quite a bit during day 1 and 2 of the jam, we weren't really sure what we were making at first, and it eventually turned out as a collectathon. And yeah, it does help that we can try lots of different gameplay moments without having to repeat them anywhere since it's such a small game. Glad to hear you enjoyed it! :D

Creaky Castle by randomphantom 2021-10-06T18:43:51Z

I can't play this unfortunately, don't have Core installed (no idea what it was before today either, tbh). :(

Star Dash by ZaneDD 2021-10-06T18:37:14Z

Nice effort! There's a lot you could add here potentially! I'd recommend revisiting the character's turn rate - you could perhaps make the turn speed dependent on the speed, instead of making it quite slow all the time. That could help improving game feel.

Plains In The Sky by TevasLiutauras 2021-10-06T11:32:38Z

Cute, am a fan of the pixely style! A solid entry all around.

MELTDOWN PIZZERIA by Magnanix 2021-10-06T19:24:34Z

Very Overcooked, of course, but with its own twist. I really like the art here. If anything it was a little bit on the easy side - you have a lot of time to complete the orders, so there's not really a rush to get things done quickly. But regardless, this is a cool game.

Immortalizing unstable beginnings by Vhalenn 2021-10-06T11:53:32Z

Very shiny! It's pretty wonderful what bloom can add to a game, eh? :) It's a very unique take on the theme, and I really like that it actually saves screenshots (I assume that works on the desktop version, atleast, I played the WebGL version).

The Lost in Wood by Zvyaga 2021-10-06T11:25:38Z

Spooky!

Could've probably used an ending screen or something? I fell off the map at the end, haha. But still, good atmosphere!

Milburt by LiquidFunk 2021-10-06T19:52:51Z

I had a good time playing this, really funny (and pretty relatable tbh). :D Thanks for sharing!

For next time, maybe consider a slightly more readable font, but other than that, good stuff!

Unsteinable by shakastrai 2021-10-06T11:39:47Z

Love the aesthetic, it's super cutesy. It plays nicely, well done!

Boomsheep by leggy 2021-10-06T19:02:53Z

Good entry! Took a moment to get used to the controls, but it's a cute game! :D

i am a writer by mmisspelling 2021-10-06T19:12:06Z

Cool concept, and an inspiring spin on the theme! It's definitely not a type of game for everyone but it's not something I've seen before, so props for that! :D Good work!

Hot Potato by Bobi505 2021-10-06T18:23:45Z

A new take on the theme! I like the variety of challenges - the math question was definitely a funny and unexpected one - though the straight-bar one (where you have to click in time) often required a reaction time I couldn't manage. Good work!

Time Rift Racers by D3kryption 2021-10-06T19:59:27Z

It's super silly, I like it :)

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Fortold by MrTroy 2022-04-05T18:58:46Z

Cute art style!

Mech & Aliens by firellon 2022-04-05T18:54:25Z

This is a wacky game if I've ever seen one. I didn't expect to be playing something where you control basically nothing at all. Hats off to the AI work for the mech, it's really solid. I didn't manage to win in the end, I think, but I did find that the spiders are pretty good for boxing the mech in. Boomers didn't seem that useful since their range is really tiny, and the mech is quite fast.

Try Again by Flaterectomy 2022-04-05T19:49:16Z

Always cool to see a branching story. Nice work on the writing, too!

Pissboy! by luquio 2022-04-05T19:55:14Z

Ludum Dare has delivered unto us Baby QWOP, and it's glorious.

Screen of Death by A-Flat Miner Studios 2022-04-05T19:29:51Z

This is such a cool idea. Also, it makes me really sad, to see an old device like that slowly die. But it is pretty funny to be playing snake and just not being able to see what the heck is going on anymore. Really great work!

Mayor Necrohamster by BinarySpark 2022-04-05T01:18:12Z

@motti The theme is used in that you save your followers from dying - thus delaying the inevitability of death. But on the other hand, we don't worry that much about the theme tbh. Ideally, it's supposed to inspire, not to artificially limit.

Kalopsia by tailow 2022-04-05T20:15:07Z

Really cool idea that you can draw these triangular areas. That's quite unique. Looks neat too, bloom is great, isn't it? I do think the pacing could be a little bit on the slower side, but great work otherwise!

MegaSpiker by Copito 2022-04-05T19:34:56Z

I commend you for the fact that this game runs on a handwritten Vulkan renderer. In a game jam? That's crazy. Nice work.

Last Bastion by sansman01 2022-04-05T19:21:23Z

Good work on the visuals and the audio! It's a cute game for sure. I'm honestly not really a fan of the difficulty scaling though, it seems that mistakes are punished quite heavily.

Holy Ship by jamjamix 2022-04-05T19:16:42Z

Game looks really cute! I'm not really sure what the buckets are for, or what rum does exactly, since patching leaks can be done without either. But chilling on the deck while the ship sinks is an excellent way to spend the weekend, of course. Good job!

Life of an Intern by Dactarium 2022-04-05T18:35:50Z

I can confirm that this is exactly how my internship went.

And Then You Fall by Zack HD 2022-04-05T20:02:42Z

A bullet hell, nice! Plays very smoothly. I didn't realize at first that I was actually supposed to collect some of the things flying around, but that's a wash, I suppose. Pun intended.

The game did crash for me twice though :(

LD53 — Delivery

Bagelseeker by alaah 2023-05-05T14:17:45Z

Love the background ambience in this one, the 'aaaaaa' when falling is a bit silly though haha! The jumping sound is also quite satisfying.

Frogwarts Delivery Service by ildfuglen 2023-05-05T14:01:17Z

A nice bullet-hell style game! :) Managed to reach the end, I really like that the bullets show their direction with arrows before they start moving, gives you a little more time to prepare.

I would've liked to see a way to slow down your movement; that could make it easier to do fine movement when you need to do tight dodges.

Good entry!

Delivereach by DroidDare 2023-05-05T13:51:57Z

I was a little confused at first when it didn't seem to be more than just clicking the same button a few times, but then it added in the extra delivery methods :) Cool stuff, you could turn this into a cool clicker / AFK-style game!

Autopotion by BinarySpark 2023-05-05T14:50:34Z

Thanks for the feedback, all! We really appreciate it.

@kujoen The delivery building can show a puff of smoke and play a burning noise if the potion is rejected, e.g. it didn't closely match any open orders. Could that be what you meant? Good point about the annoying static click though, thanks for pointing that out!

Instant Delivery by Scorpion 2023-05-05T13:47:16Z

Good work! Style in simplicity :) My one piece of advice would be to look into making the audio a bit less loud, it's a little startling when starting the game haha. Otherwise, nice entry!

Mars Delivery Program by Erlioniel 2023-05-05T13:20:29Z

It was really cool that you can put stuff on the truck to drive around with! Took me a little getting used to it, but it was nice driving around. Unfortunately I wound up getting one of the wheels stuck in a building, so it couldn't move anymore. :( Also, the dynamic element of the truck audio, that it pitches up and down, is really satisfying.

Wonky Bots by Travh98 2023-05-05T13:01:50Z

Nice work, keep prototyping and trying lots of different things!

Alchemist Assembly by MisterIXI 2023-05-13T07:10:05Z

Hey, we had such similar interpretations of the theme, wow! Our games look different, but they play almost the same.

I was a little confused at first as to how the railways work, since I thought I had to rotate pieces to make them fit the inputs/outputs properly. Worked fine after I figured out the routes though :) I also had an issue where the mouse cursor doesn't quite highlight exactly the hex you're hovering over - though our game also has that issue. Hex grids are complicated...

Very nice entry. I love the little details like the tiles bouncing when you place something on them.

Dough on the go by Heuser 2023-05-05T13:33:43Z

Love the silly chaos sim in this one; cars jumping over each other, cars driving over roundabouts... It was a bit unclear at first where I was supposed to go, didn't realize there was a map button, but had fun nevertheless!

Pack-Man by GyReDHawK 2023-05-05T12:57:24Z

Cute art style, fairly consistent and I like that there are a lot of small props around the level to help decorate. The game is a bit difficult for me; picking up the extra box seems to be a little finnicky.

LD55 — Summoning

Cummon Summon by asfdfdfd 2024-04-16T18:22:24Z

The vibe of this is kinda cool, I like how the room looks. The combat system needs work, the one and only strategy seems to be spamming the defend button until you block once and then striking back. The varied summons are pretty great, they're silly and of course making and animating meshes in a jam is always a big deal. :) Nice work

Euclid's Elementals by avareii 2024-04-16T18:59:32Z

So it turns out that I am staggeringly bad at geometry - I do not understand how to set up a bunch of circles such that I can draw a triangle between them haha. But this is a really cool game idea, nice work setting it up.

Tower Of Madness by Chiara Sanviti 2024-04-16T19:08:50Z

Okay this was a really cool entry, I had a lot of fun with this. It's very goofy and bouncy, and maybe that's not a bad thing :) Very nice work on the sprites; this is a really polished and cool entry overall. Awesome!

Infernal Interns by Richard Ortiz 2024-04-16T17:34:24Z

It was pretty cool to try a lot of random things, and stumble upon things that would probably be helpful for another customer, heh. Nice work.

Death kingdom by Loki Drams 2024-04-16T18:00:57Z

This was a trip - I wasn't quite sure what to do, kind accidentally figured out after a while that you have to hold the interact button. There did not seem to be much to see beyond putting up these big boxes, but keep going and exploring, nice work :)

How to Summon a Cat For Dummies by LChaves 2024-04-16T18:50:19Z

This is not the type of game I'm good at, by any stretch of the imagination, but this was pretty fun, nice work. Also the cat is a cutie-looking one :)

Matthew, Emissary of Balance by unchain 2024-04-16T18:43:18Z

Well that got out of hand. I, uh, may have overdone it a bit with the tree planting. The framerate was virtually nonexistent. I had fun with this though, it's cool to keep growing the economy (literally in this case) and spawn so many creatures that you have this cloud of destruction cleaning up anything that wanders on-screen. Nice work :)

Get Away Your Pitchforks from My Oak! by Hammerer 2024-04-16T18:12:27Z

I thought the game was going to be easy, but I was quickly proven wrong :) Still, I kinda feel like spamming a ton of smaller things can sometimes be better than summoning something big. It's hard to keep up of course, but they're cheap and can be in a lot of places at once, which does help.

Bouncy wolf is my spirit animal.

HolyCrash by YANGSANG 2024-04-16T17:45:41Z

That was quite the trip, heh, I wasn't expecting to be running over random people on the street this jam. Interesting entry, nice work.

LD57 — Depths

Captain Peggles: That Man's Chest by Sheepolution 2025-04-13T13:52:40Z

How did you put together an online storage service in a jam???

This is awesome. Posted one map and played several others, very fun.

Fixey 2 (VR Only) by shadowbrain 2025-04-13T12:24:43Z

I would have loved to play this, but every time I start the game, I fall through the floor! :( Using a Quest 3 headset through Steam Link. Tried standing in different corners of my play space, and even on top of a chair to elevate myself above the ground plane, but sadly no dice.

Recursive Depths by mao 2025-04-13T11:40:38Z

What an awesome entry! This is a really interesting game concept, and it was so cool to zoom out all the way at the end and realize how little I actually explored. I'm kind of curious how you store the quad-tree of tiles: do you allocate each node separately as soon as it's generated, or is there a fancier data structure at work?

Escape From GR0K Tower by paulhocker 2025-04-13T13:11:14Z

Some more variation would be nice, but otherwise this is a fun little platformer. Thanks for sharing!

Voidrunner by BinarySpark 2025-04-11T19:02:59Z

@popdaddygames Yep! I'm planning to make a timelapse sometime soon (I always record the whole thing), but have a few IRL things to deal with so it takes time. What would I want to change? One big feature that we wanted to add but simply didn't have time for, was swappable loadouts. You know, the whole shebang with unlocking/finding weapons/other modules, slotting them into your ship, maybe applying mods. That would be cool. There's also some work to be done in general with onboarding/tutorialization, that's almost never something you have time for in jams.

Glad you liked the game! And thanks everyone for all the kind comments!

Focus Hunt by dhim 2025-04-13T12:49:38Z

I'm terrible at these kinds of games, but very neat concept, thanks for sharing!

Deeper into the Black Hole by On100Ruykajop 2025-04-13T11:19:56Z

Nice entry! You could consider making the monitor a bit bigger; a fair bit of the game window is unused space. Keep going!

The OPERATOR by Tomtomgome 2025-04-13T12:00:34Z

Good entry! I enjoyed the squads' idle banter.

GoldenDepth by Bassilij 2025-04-13T11:47:25Z

Subnautica vibes! I like being able push stuff away, and finding stuff is always satisfying.

Forgotten Files by oter 2025-04-13T13:25:19Z

I am generally speaking too stupid for these kinds of games, heh. Still, I really like the idea of a text adventure game in a jam, and one that has heartstring-pulling themes too :) Thank you for sharing.

A fun experience! I wound up going missing too

I found the checkpoints (the red buttons) to be really generous; especially with the oxygen upgrade I never really needed to go back up again, could just keep going and hit the next button. Point-filtered pixel art always looks nice. Cool entry.

Nice entry. I would've liked to have some more movement control on ships - maybe it'd be easier to have players click a position they want to go, since it can be a bit hard to judge moves in advance.
