LD46 — Keep it alive

Elements by Sir Magic 2020-04-21T14:11:26Z

I really liked this game! The gameplay felt good and responsive, and I really liked how attacking was tied to your health, this was an interesting mechanic. For gameplay, I would consider making the enemy attacks move a bit slower, since it felt like I was not able to really dodge them without spamming the dodge button itself. But the music was really on point! There really is something here to develop further in this game, and I encourage you to continue with this project!

Got to Find Out by marvalgames 2020-04-23T18:17:10Z

Playing with a mouse and a keyboard I had some trouble with the left mouse auto-aim. Also the sound was quite extraordinarily loud by default. But thankfully you had made an options menu for that! This game has potential and needs just a bit more tweaking to get there. Keep it up!

Morse Code Hero by ratly 2020-04-23T18:34:27Z

Very cool idea, but I really think you should add some sort of beat in the background to help the player understand the correct rhythm. With a few more tweaks this has potential to become a really cool game!

Secret Protection by dcrdro 2020-04-23T18:08:16Z

My highscore was 40, the game is pretty challenging! Right now the game feels almost a bit unfair, as the bullets are so fast that there is barely any time to react. I would suggest adding some effect that lets the player know that an enemy is about to shoot soon, or alternatively making the bullets a bit slower. And also having to hold the mouse button the whole time is a bit awkward. But otherwise it's a neat game, keep it up!

Also, consider making an HTML5 build of the game (you can do that with Unity, just like your Windows build). That way you will probably get more people to play and rate your game.

Eggy and Chicky - EGGSercise! by qFrct 2020-04-24T14:14:35Z

Challenging, but cool! I liked the look of the game, and the physics-based gameplay was interesting, but the level was a bit too long in my taste, at least as a first level. Maybe give the player an easier level at first, or maybe some checkpoints? But a cool idea, nice graphics, keep it up!

Trail Mix by Michael Gosling 2020-04-21T16:26:10Z

The idea is cute, but the controls seemed a bit unresponsive. With a bit more work this could turn out into a neat platformer!

Cub Valley by BinarySpark 2020-04-24T14:54:47Z

Such a great combat system! I like how it gives the player different options, but as the enemies also have a similar system and the first element of their attack is revealed at the start of the round, you as a player can make some educated guesses as to what the enemy will do on the turn. Really great! And on top of that, you had cool art assets, great music, nice sound effects, a story with dialogue, ... You have a great team, it seems! Keep it up!

YMGYPBVF: You Must Gather Your Party Before Venturing Forth by amkingTRP 2020-04-22T19:29:49Z

A satisfying puzzle game with a nice old school RPG feel, I really liked it! The gameplay was smooth and the different characters and elements were easy to tell apart from each other. I liked the character art, too! For a game jam game it was the perfect length, but with a few more tricks you could expand on this further if you wanted. One improvement could be, that when the player hits a button or activates a switch, because the effect is immediate and the player doesn't necessarily know where the effect is going to show, it can be quite easy to miss what the switch or button just did or activated. A few frames of animation or some visual aid could be nice.

Wayfarers by Tednesday 2020-04-21T17:09:06Z

A well-rounded game! It feels good, looks good, sounds good! If you want to take this idea further (and I think there's a lot of potential here), you could polish the menus a bit. For replayability, maybe some semi-randomly created levels? Overall, great job!

Planet Escape by heidelbert 2020-04-21T16:52:27Z

I really like the concept here, but even when I won the game I didn't feel like I really understood how it worked. When developing a game, it's easy to get stuck in your own headspace, and it's easy to forget that the players won't necessarily understand everything the same way you do.

The music is great, the characters are cool and the overall concept is really promising. With a little more work this could become a really fun action puzzle game!

Snake by Kosmik123 2020-04-23T18:23:48Z

Cool idea! If there indeed are no more levels after the first one (which is totally understandable in a 72 hour game jam), then I want to encourage you to develop the game further and add more content. But if there are already more levels, then you probably should look into the bug that we all in the comments are having. Also consider making a HTML5 build so that more people are likely to try your game.

Kaboom Princess by Aune 2020-04-23T18:45:53Z

Sadly the tutorial wasn't quite enough for me to understand how to really use the clones up to their full potential. This is a cool concept, but the gameplay or the tutorial need some work. But the art is really nice! And props for giving the option to use QWERTY controls, otherwise this game would be rather unplayable. Keep it up, you have a really good start here!

Escape from Exodus Prime by zollmaniac 2020-04-21T17:41:56Z

I liked the concept, and the core mechanics seemed to work nicely! The game did feel a bit too slow and long, though. Maybe you could condense the experience a bit? Also if you want to take things further, some sounds or music would improve the overall feel.

Heart of the World Tree by Arttu Halonen 2020-04-22T20:30:50Z

@blackgoku36 @petrifiedapple Thanks for the feedback! As for the laggy controls, I thought about using the Unity input function without input smoothing, but ended up with this version instead. Maybe the other would have been better for control.

@zollmaniac @nurk @sir-magic @amkingtrp Thanks for the feedback and the suggestions! Working solo (and being a bit out of practice) I somewhat ran out of time with improving the gameplay. After I implemented the basic gameplay on Day 1 and made the art and audio on Day 2, my job didn't leave too much time for Day 3 other than submitting the game. But if I get around to continuing this project further, I'll keep your ideas in mind!

Heart of the World Tree by Arttu Halonen 2020-04-24T05:32:39Z

@dryden @david-greene Thank you for the feedback!

I'm happy that I was able to make a "complete" game with sound and menus etc., but as you and others have mentioned (and I too noticed during the jam), this didn't leave a lot of time for improving the gameplay itself. I'll keep your ideas and suggestions in mind if I decide to continue developing this game post-jam.

Heart of the World Tree by Arttu Halonen 2020-04-24T15:01:05Z

@thejonu Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback! I totally get what you're saying. I kind of ran out of time before I could add any real meaningful gameplay elements other than the basics you see here. I wanted to make it like the classic Breakout, where you can influence the bounce direction of the ball by hitting it with a the left or right part of your blocker. That way you could guide the balls to the same side of the Heart, so it would be easier to control multiple balls at the same time. But yeah, development time is a luxury in a game jam.

Heart of the World Tree by Arttu Halonen 2020-04-24T18:11:13Z

@likirus @digitaldude555 @ikrad @boxedmeatrevolution Thanks for playing and leaving a comment! I very much so appreciate the feedback! I'm getting a lot of good ideas from the comments here, and I'm thinking that I probably should continue working on this game post-jam!

Heart of the World Tree by Arttu Halonen 2020-04-25T17:08:30Z

@binaryspark Thanks for the feedback! As a solo dev I was happy to get the visuals and audio to a decent level, but this unfortunately meant that I didn't have enough time to make the gameplay improvements I had in mind.

Fleurist by TheJonu 2020-04-24T14:01:33Z

What a well polished game! Especially for a Compo game, everything looks well put together. I really like the art style, and the gameplay feels smooth. If you want to develop this further, adding some goals, objectives or challenges would turn this promising proof-of-concept into a great little game!

The Keeper by petrifiedapple 2020-04-21T13:57:29Z

Cool art style and the music fit the mysterious mood quite well! The controls felt a bit floaty and it was a bit difficult to move around precisely. Also it took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to be doing, before I figured it out.

Mr.Virus by Blackgoku36 2020-04-21T13:48:49Z

Simple and fun, and I liked the pixel art as well! Sadly after my first try I ran into the level start freeze bug at the start of level 1 on Firefox, and then on Chrome I couldn't get the game to load. If it wasn't for the bug, I would have enjoyed playing some more! A few particle or sound effects for hits would be a nice addition.

Mr.Virus by Blackgoku36 2020-04-23T14:31:48Z

MrVirusDebug.PNG

@blackgoku36 Well now on Firefox I'm having trouble getting the game to load, the debugger console keeps racking up errors at an alarming rate (a few hundred per second, it seems). I'm not sure how or why, but having tried to load the game a few times, one time I did get it to load the start screen, where the debugger only showed warnings and a message ("kha/graphics4/PipelineState.hx:111: Warning: Sampler tex not found. kha.js:277:11"). After that I could play through stages 1 and 2, but stage 3 had the flashing bug at the start and the game froze, but there were no additional warnings, errors or messages in the debugger console.

So it seems to me that there is one bug that stops the game from loading (Only sometimes? Refreshing the page a few times seems to eventually fix this.) and another but that freezes the game in an endless loop at the start of a stage. Good luck in your debugging, I know that this stuff can get frustrating.

Mr.Virus by Blackgoku36 2020-04-23T17:45:44Z

MrVirusDebug_2.PNG

@blackgoku36 Tried the test build, still having issues while loading the game. I tried this several times (incognito mode and regular mode). I cannot detect a pattern as to when it works and when it does not. Spamming refresh seems to fix it eventually.

I also ran into the flashing stage begin bug again. These problems happen on Firefox and Chrome for me.

Mr.Virus by Blackgoku36 2020-04-23T19:55:22Z

@blackgoku36 Great news! I tried the test build multiple times on both Firefox and Chrome, and didn't get either bug this time. Looks like the loading errors and the stage begin bug are fixed, at least from what I saw. Nicely done!

Rodolf by Nurk 2020-04-21T14:22:06Z

The night part felt a bit unfair, as it was quite difficult to know where the demon baby was until it was right up close to you, at which point it was too late to run. But otherwise some pretty solid gameplay and nice art and sound assets! The flashlight at night looked cool, would you like to share how the light effect works (2D or 3D light, custom or built-in, etc.)?

ANICTO by WeAreDev 2020-04-22T20:26:27Z

As you mentioned, there seemed to be some problems with the web build, and thus there was no sound. The gameplay was not very clear from the beginning, and even though certain tasks were mentioned ("light a fireplace" for example), it wasn't fully explained how that was supposed to be done (first you have to collect three rocks to create fireplace, that part is told only when you collect a rock, but if you don't know that you should be collecting rocks, you won't be told that you're supposed to be collecting rocks. But the visual look of the game is nice, I would have hoped to reach further in the game to see more of it.

Mr. Cheesy by SAVVU 2020-04-21T18:40:14Z

Saw this game pop up on the feed a few times during the jam and the little Mr. Cheesy character stuck in my mind, so I came to check up on the game now that it's done. This is the most polished game from this game jam that I've seen thus far! Even though the core gameplay is very simple, it's executed well and feels good to play. The art style is consistent and I'm really digging the music!

Fire keeper by Sleetag 2020-04-23T18:52:03Z

It was a bit difficult to know where my axe attacks were hitting and if I was hitting the enemies at all. Maybe consider adding some impact effects (sound, particles, etc.)? Overall a neat little game, keep it up!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Minotaur's Labyrinth by JOrbits 2020-10-06T16:21:16Z

A really cool idea with a solid execution! This definitely gave me some Antichamber vibes, I'd be curious to learn how you achieved the shifting labyrinth! Nice job!

Snake: Looped Around by kruemelkeksfan 2020-10-06T17:24:30Z

Oh this was really cool! I like how you took a really old idea (Snake) and did your own new take on it (and made it fit with the theme)! Even though the graphics were simple, they did their job, and the gameplay felt nice.

Rocket Factory by Matthew Roelle 2020-10-09T06:37:02Z

This was really polished and cohesive for a game jam game, great job! I'm afraid I don't have much to say regarding proper feedback, as the game felt rather complete, so I'll say just a minor detail: when the player loses their last life and the explosions take over the screen, you could try altering the pitches of the explosion sound effects slightly. This way the sounds mesh in together better as they're not all competing for the exact same sound frequencies.

Jungle Drums by Royoyo 2020-10-05T16:55:47Z

I really liked the idea of coupling the movement of the platforms to the drum rhythm in the music! The controls could be a little tighter and more precise, but this was a cool platformer with a nice aesthetic!

Groovy B and the Great Cownundrum by 6smith 2020-10-09T16:15:11Z

Cool idea and great visuals! I was able to warp through the locked door in the cave without a key by just running straight into it and mashing the Z key. And also the areas where you could interact with doors with the Z key were a bit small and finicky. Overall great job, there's a lot of potential here!

Looped by Barney25052 2020-10-05T17:02:13Z

A really cool idea with a nice look to it as well! The puzzles where you had to collect a number of things but dying reset your progress were a bit harsh, but overall this was a really cool puzzle game!

Trajectory by KaisenTheGreatOne 2020-10-09T15:51:57Z

This was really cool! The game got me hooked, I played for quite a while! I really liked the visuals in the game, especially the trajectories of your previous attempts. Maybe you could add some slight bit of UI (or in the after death screen) that shows which level the player is currently on. Overall great job!

Born To Die by oddarock 2020-10-09T15:10:10Z

I really liked the larva movement animation! Also the emoji state machine was fun and intuitive! At times it was a bit difficult to know when exactly the player character would evolve, the revolving UI element wasn't super clear. But overall a neat idea and a solid execution!

Raccoon in a Loop by theufo 2020-10-09T06:26:20Z

Cool idea, it was fun to roll around smashing things! It felt a bit weird that the game kept changing between controlling the room and controlling the raccoon when you were changing rooms. Also at times it was a bit difficult to see the raccoon as the room was rotating in the way (even though there was the circle cut-out showing the raccoon through walls). But overall, good job as a team!

Lucky Lefty Loves Loops by TheBookSnail 2020-10-09T06:11:31Z

A very simple idea but with a solid execution! The gameplay and the controls feel good. The environment art could maybe use some refinement, but I understand that it's harder as the environment needs to match the player character's shell. The zoom out at the end was a really cool surprise, great job!

ReReReSpawn by Arttu Halonen 2020-10-06T04:53:43Z

Thank you for the feedback @citdev-chris @comari and @michaelha !

Yeah, right now the clones only fire when they did in the recorded life, but that would definitely be an interesting idea that you could "save" the clones beyond their original life, at least to some degree. I'll keep the idea in mind if I get around to making a post-jam version some day!

ReReReSpawn by Arttu Halonen 2020-10-08T05:21:48Z

@frances @thebooksnail Thanks for the feedback! As this was a Jam entry and not a Compo entry, I used the [A* Pathfinding project by Aron Granberg](https://arongranberg.com/astar/) for the pathfinding. It was super easy to implement in Unity.

Lost In The Woods by PatrickJR 2020-10-08T12:32:07Z

The way the map loops around itself is really cool, it looks seamless and feels like being lost in an enchanted forest, stuck running around in circles! The game also looks nice, but it needs a bit more audio (forest background, footsteps, maybe music?) to keep the player engaged. Solid entry!

The Titan's grave by BadPiggy 2020-10-06T17:08:57Z

It was really cool how you mixed 2D sprites and 3D movement! The game was challenging, but a proper boss fight should be just that!

Life is Loop by frances 2020-10-05T16:49:07Z

It took me a while to really get the idea, but once I did I quite liked it! A cool idea and and well put together!

Orbitrary by Aimainiac 2020-10-05T17:23:41Z

A simple game, but really well executed! The controls took some getting used to, but the gameplay felt solid!

Karmic Circle by TheConfusedCyborg 2020-10-05T16:35:33Z

A neat idea with a solid execution! With a little more polish this could become a great puzzle game.

Exit The While by ZebraVogel 2020-10-05T16:30:33Z

Quite a fantastic idea and a solid execution!

Cat Box Fall by zRepa 2020-10-06T16:44:35Z

The game looks charming and has a neat concept! With some tighter controls and more level design this could be a really cool puzzle platformer.

Bjorn to Dance by Tomh 2020-10-08T12:22:16Z

Incredible amount of polish for a game jam game! I felt that the sleep sections and the performance sections were a bit disconnected, as the dance moves in the dream did not match the dance moves in the upcoming performance. Also as others have stated, showing the dance rune symbols on the shield took my focus away from the main character, which is a shame given how much effort has been put in its visual appeal. A solid entry with some room to grow as a post-jam game!

Ghost Jammer by schreibmaschine 2020-10-08T08:00:41Z

A really cool aesthetic! It feels good to roll around once you really get going, but a few times after a small bounce I had a lot of trouble getting "back on my feet/rollerblades" as the character kept bouncing slightly for a few times. Also the menus seem to be a bit busted on both the Windows and HTML5 versions. But the audio is really great, among the best I've encountered in this LD!

A Long Night At Work by jmattspartacus 2020-10-05T16:23:14Z

The download seemed like a dev build with a message about "lighting needs to be rebuilt" and whenever I pressed E to interact, the game would draw these red raycasts on from the camera to the point I clicked. The controls were a bit janky and it was difficult to place objects on the pressure plates. However the overall concept was neat, with a post-jam version you could really take the idea further!

Meltdown by Jetyh 2020-10-09T15:22:05Z

Really cool idea! As others have stated, some form of tutorial would be nice. But you could make it 'in universe' so that the player has to read operating manuals while playing the game. Overall nice UI work. Good job!

It Makes Plants... by Aaron Smith 2020-10-05T16:11:57Z

This is a neat concept that you could easily take further in the future! Some kind of in-game tutorial would be nice. I really enjoyed the graphics and especially the audio!

Outside The Loop by Peace Of Cake Games 2020-10-08T07:47:58Z

Cool idea, but definitely needs some form of tutorial (text-based or built into the level design) to show players how to actually progress. Keep it up!

Storm Chaser(Fixedlink) by Zjones 2020-10-09T06:43:16Z

A simple but fun idea! As you're working with Unity, you might want to look into the [UI Scale Mode of the UI Canvas](https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/com.unity.ugui@1.0/manual/script-CanvasScaler.html). At least for me, the main menu was a bit small when the game was fullscreen, and I suspect this might have something to do with it. Congrats for making a game, keep it up!

Takinfin by BEK 2020-10-05T17:16:31Z

The game looks nice, the controls are a bit janky (hard to aim at the enemies while dodging bullets). But a solid foundation to build upon! You might want to look into making a HTML5 web build of the game and hosting it on some website (for example itch.io), as people usually are more willing to try out games directly in the browser instead of downloading and running an .exe file.

Starburn 64 by Warrrkus 2020-10-05T17:33:27Z

This was a fun experience! With a little more enemy/environment variety you could turn this into a cool post-jam game! At times it was a bit difficult to see whether or not I would collide with something, but overall a cool game!

Looped by Leo Red 2020-10-06T16:53:38Z

A neat idea, and the simple art style worked well! Maybe you could add some score system to the game? Also the movement and shooting could be tweaked to be a bit more responsive. But overall, nice job!

Codebusters by BroReNata 2020-10-08T12:42:18Z

You're really onto something here! The puzzle mechanics work really well, and it's great that you can so quickly and easily just reset and try again if you fail, so it doesn't get too frustrating. You could maybe split up the intro dialogue into smaller pieces and have some gameplay in between so the player gets to the fun part more quickly. Overall very good job!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Untitled Space Game by tsuk13 2021-04-27T15:50:45Z

Initially it was a bit difficult to figure out what I needed to do to progress, but the warp drive animation was really cool looking! Keep it up!

Scython by BinarySpark 2021-04-28T13:42:14Z

The game looks great and placing the buildings works really well! Unfortunately the spread of an abstract corruption was a bit hard to grasp in terms of gameplay. For instance, even though the corruption effect gets more or less intense depending on the amount of corruption on the tile, it was still a bit non-intuitive to internalize what that meant for me as a player. Was I doing well? Was I doing poorly? Where was the corruption spreading more strongly despite my defenses? I really feel that this game has a lot of potential. Keep it up!

To The Core by imKrye 2021-04-28T14:31:25Z

The art style was charming! Congrats on finishing the jam! Keep it up!

Kicks'n'Relics by Valden 2021-04-27T15:36:39Z

Cool sounds and a great soundtrack! Fly kicking a bunch of enemies at once was quite fun. The level and the gameplay got a bit repetitive, so a bit more variation could turn this into a cool post-jam game!

Ramón by jjcp 2021-04-27T15:59:35Z

The hectic running around was pretty fun! Maybe you could make sure the enemies don't start shooting before the player can see them so it doesn't feel too unfair? Cool game, keep it up!

Substate by beats 2021-04-28T15:01:21Z

There's some potential here for a lot more! Keep it up!

Lord of Mine by JustusPan 2021-04-28T14:26:32Z

Interesting idea and cool graphics! There's potential here if the overall gameplay is taken a bit further. Keep it up!

An Eggsellent Escape by GoldenEvolution 2021-04-28T14:58:12Z

I love the level of visual and audio polish here! With a bit more depth to the gameplay, this could become a really cool post-jam game!

Deep Abyss by Taranis Elsu 2021-04-27T16:10:30Z

The soundtrack was cool and felt like a water level theme should feel. A bit more player feedback on the enemy attacks would make the gameplay feel better, I would think. Keep it up!

Fire in the hole! by Arttu Halonen 2021-04-26T15:57:30Z

@fictions @tombuston @emeraldboy44 Thanks for the feedback!

@fictions Yes I wasted too much time trying to hack together the collider generation algorithm for the terrain destruction, but I couldn't get it to work perfectly in time... Maybe I'll get around to trying to hotfix the issue later.

@tombuston I was thinking about the shot cooldown, but I didn't get around to implement any cooldown for it. For the performance troubles I might go back and implement it. However, I think that it's kind of fun to just spam the fire button a lot.

@emeraldboy44 The HTML5 build is straight from Unity's WebGL build, so I'm not sure if I can fix the Brave browser issue. And that bug sounds new to me, I'll have to keep my eyes open. Bloom is my favourite post-processing effect by far, glad you liked it too!

Fire in the hole! by Arttu Halonen 2021-04-26T16:02:30Z

@emeraldboy44 Oh and for the question: The CS 1.6 radio message sound is definitely burned in my memory! So while I wasn't consciously thinking about that specific use of the phrase "Fire in the hole", I'm sure it was part of the subconscious process somewhere in there.

Fire in the hole! by Arttu Halonen 2021-04-27T16:34:19Z

@jarambarri @szymski Thanks for the feedback!

@jarambarri Yes, the algorithm for generating the terrain collider was the bane of my existence all the way from Saturday to Monday... I spent way too much time trying to get it to work properly, and just couldn't get there in time. Maybe I'll go back to try and fix it eventually.

Fire in the hole! by Arttu Halonen 2021-04-27T16:36:38Z

@domin77 Thank you for the feedback! I really ran out of time to create all the features I wanted. More levels is definitely something I would like to go back and do at some point!

Fire in the hole! by Arttu Halonen 2021-04-27T16:38:31Z

@skaminska Thanks for the feedback! Yes, it's quite frustrating and disappointing when the enemy doesn't actually fall when they should, or when they do fall even though they shouldn't.

Fire in the hole! by Arttu Halonen 2021-04-27T17:05:22Z

@zypo Thanks for feedback! Yes, the terrain bug has been bothering me all through this LD jam. The movement idea has been suggested by a few people now, I'll have to keep it in mind if I get back to this game post-jam!

Fire in the hole! by Arttu Halonen 2021-04-28T05:09:08Z

@burczy @kromeboy Thanks for the feedback!

@burczy Yes, I ran out of time on this game for sure. Any suggestions what specific parts of the graphics need most work?

@kromeboy Yeah, the terrain destruction bugs haunted me for the entire jam. The cooldown really would have been a smart choice.

Nice Fall by Nice Gear Games 2021-04-28T15:11:00Z

Fun little game! The falling was a bit too fast to really make informed decisions on where to aim. Or at least my response time wasn't quite fast enough. But cool game, keep it up!

Dangerous Depths by Mololo 2021-04-27T16:26:40Z

Congrats on your first Ludum Dare! And welcome to the nasty world of UI scaling issues  You might want to check your UI canvas scaling: I would guess that it's set to "Constant pixel size", which makes it look a bit odd on a larger display. But anyway, cool game, keep it up!

Project Stallion / Zherebets Proyekta by dob 2021-10-06T11:17:57Z

I struggled a bit with the *unstable* nature of a few puzzles, but it was nice that the game allowed me to skip levels so I could see the entire game anyway. A fresh idea and a solid execution, keep it up!

Shaky hex stax by stoffe 2021-10-05T15:23:34Z

The tumbling tetris block caught me off guard! Using tetris block shapes in a game where you are trying to build a tall tower may be a bit confusing for players who are are used to trying to make the tetris blocks disappear. But otherwise a neat little game!

A Glorious Rule by gamesplusjames 2021-10-05T16:04:37Z

One of my favourites thus far! Clicking the tiles felt satisfying and the el Presidente vibes in the texts were humorous! Also a surprisingly large amount of content and polish for a jam game! Nice job!

Fragile Arms: A Sci Fi Story by Phlip45 2021-10-06T06:31:49Z

An entertaining take on the visuals and sounds! Experimenting with the weapon crafting was fun, too! The controls could maybe handle a bit tighter or more precisely, but overall a fun little game!

Escape from Space by Xwilarg 2021-10-05T15:17:04Z

Bomb Mania by Stefan Jovanovic 2021-10-04T18:23:41Z

The level of polish is great! Some way of exiting the game mid-level would be nice, but for a jam game it's understandable. This was a really nice experience!

Alchemy Simulator by GHubert 2021-10-04T18:50:01Z

Unstable Balance by simonkmall 2021-10-05T18:26:25Z

I really liked this game! It does one thing but it does it so well! The only small suggestion I have is maybe show the sliders on top of (or through) the balls, so it's easier to see the range of side-to-side movement you have available even as the size of the balls changes. The level of polish was really nice, and the pace of the game felt just right. Nicely done!

Everything's Unstable by Yskuma 2021-10-06T11:42:52Z

A humorous little venture into the world of nuclear power production! The visuals and assets were great, although the pump sounds get a bit uncomfortably loud when you go near them. Overall nice job, keep it up!

Warp Glider by Koolruz 2021-10-05T17:58:52Z

The game was difficult, but the mechanics were clear (the early levels worked beautifully as tutorials) and the instant restart made the game exciting, where otherwise it might have been frustrating. A really solid game!

No hands Dorifto by Gorypixels 2021-10-05T18:02:52Z

I think I ran into the same problem with hyper-speed gameplay, as I basically had to buttonmash or else I would instantly crash into the wall. But beyond that the idea is well executed and the visuals are simple but neat. Keep it up!

Tumble Transport Inc. by ToSMaster 2021-10-05T18:37:00Z

You should really be proud of yourselves, this game is great! The gameplay was solid, the visuals and sounds fit perfectly, and there was even some humorous commentary from the manager! Keep it up!

The Un-Stable Ranger by DaSpikeyBoss 2021-10-05T15:06:35Z

The movement and camera controls were a bit challenging and it took me a while to figure out how to open the stable doors. But the idea was fun and running around was quite entertaining!

Elbatsnu's Brewery by Feraligatr 2021-10-06T14:08:24Z

I really liked the concept here! The execution is solid, too! I couldn't get past level 3 even though I thought I completed all the quests, not sure what happened there. Overall a solid deckbuilder, great job!

Zap! by zazz0000 2021-10-06T11:35:02Z

The visuals look great! The gameplay is a bit unclear with no tutorial, but that happens in a game jam since there's so little time. Keep it up!

I did however run into the same *182* issue that has been mentioned here before:

Invoking error handler due to abort(182) at jsStackTrace@blob:https://operationdogbird.com/d917d6cf-968c-4b3d-874a-4fc9646bea73:2:16334 stackTrace@blob:https://operationdogbird.com/d917d6cf-968c-4b3d-874a-4fc9646bea73:2:16505 abort@blob:https://operationdogbird.com/d917d6cf-968c-4b3d-874a-4fc9646bea73:2:748

Chop and Sprout by SethJMoore 2021-10-06T11:26:23Z

I really like the concept here! Sadly the game ran into technical issues after a few branches every time I tried it, but besides those, it was a nice little experience! Keep it up!

Chop and Sprout by SethJMoore 2021-10-07T04:47:44Z

@sethjmoore I know the feeling, too. My LD48 entry had this big gamebreaking bug that I just couldn't fix in time, and it wasn't a great feeling. But once you get over the feeling, you remember that you've now made a game in just a few days, and that's pretty great by itself!

Reac'this by DevUndead 2021-10-04T18:45:26Z

The time limit is a bit short, but thankfully it's not a solid game over even if you run out of time. The puzzle was really cool, I enjoyed it! The controls could be a bit sharper or more responsive, but overall nice job!

This Is Fine by Grizwhirl 2021-10-05T18:08:58Z

A really fun and solid little party game! I would suggest stopping the game in a multiplayer match when only one player remains, since they're the last player standing. But a really solid execution overall, keep it up!

Sketchy Spelunking by lukeoco1234 2021-10-05T13:56:31Z

The prices in the shop are a bit steep, but that's just balancing. It's really cool that you managed to create the shop on top of the mining, keep it up! The visuals and audio are nice, too!

Broken Island by Frontrider 2021-10-06T18:00:42Z

Same here with the initial trouble of driving the tank since it was covered from view. But past that, the gameplay was smooth and the level design worked well! The unstable floor is a brilliant way to keep the player moving instead of just shooting at enemies from beyond their range. Nice job, keep it up!

Unstable: Incendiary Cargo by LucasGlass 2021-10-06T18:45:08Z

A simple idea but well executed! The ground texture made it a bit difficult to see the bumps before it was too late, though. Nice job, keep it up!

Wavering by xHadie 2021-10-05T11:35:38Z

The initial title screen had be confused, I thought the game was stuck until I tried hitting the space bar and got into the actual game. Maybe some hints about the controls would be helpful? But the visuals are really nice! Keep it up!

Unstable World by EugeneKul 2021-10-06T14:15:29Z

The main menu is adorable! Sadly I too ran into the freezing bug in the WebGL build, seemingly every time I died. But up until that point the running and gunning felt great! The soundscape was a bit much on the ears at times, but overall a great job. Keep it up!

Break Through by Richard Jiang 2021-10-05T15:02:20Z

An's Table by Iacopo 2021-10-05T18:18:29Z

I really like the idea of combining a traditional bullet hell game with the restaurant theme and gameplay! I couldn't quite figure out the feeding mechanism, but otherwise the controls seemed solid. Keep it up!

Snatched by cerieyele 2021-10-05T06:28:14Z

The mouse movement controls really made this feel unstable, in a good way! The difficulty was brutal, but there was nice variety between the levels!

Domino Traverse by Huntrt 2021-10-06T14:20:52Z

An interesting twist on the genre! I couldn't quite get the hang of using all the powers effectively and quickly enough when I needed them, but I really liked the game! Nice job, keep it up!

Star Miner by Misfire_dev 2021-10-06T13:59:44Z

A really solid and well-rounded game for a jam game! The gameplay felt good and the upgrade system gives you clear goals and a sense of progress. Great job, keep it up!

Unpredictable Shapeshifting by OctahedronSoftware 2021-10-05T17:50:45Z

I really liked the concept here! Initially the controls took a little getting used to, and I was trying to attack other wolves as a wolf before I realized that's not how it works. But overall a solid little game!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Balloon Rush 2 by CocaPasteque 2022-04-09T10:17:00Z

A really solid entry, simple and elegant! It was great that you could move the ball in all directions, not just upwards. Simple but very well executed, just as a jam game should be! Congrats, keep it up!

Warming up! by notnasiul 2022-04-10T10:02:23Z

Simple but really elegant, great work! Sometimes I had difficulty grabbing the fireballs, it was a bit hard to gauge the range where I could pick them up. Otherwise the controls felt pretty good, congrats on making a solid platformer controller in such a short time! Nice job, keep it up!

Concave Knave by krammetje 2022-04-05T11:27:51Z

The controls were a bit difficult, especially with Ctrl + S and other combinations doing wacky things in the browser. Also some feedback on the boss (and you) getting hit by attacks would help make the fight clearer. Otherwise this is solid boss-fighting game, and the dash effect looks cool!

Mythic Garden by Silas Reinagel 2022-04-09T10:30:50Z

Really polished entry, nice job! Keep it up, you seem to have a good group going!

Grandma by smiley 2022-04-10T09:45:44Z

I really liked the lighting and the sounds, solid entry! The character controller felt a bit hard to control precisely, but platformer character controllers are notoriously hard to fine-tune, especially when you only have a weekend. Also the wind was a bit hard to read, but I was eventually able to overcome it. Overall nice job! Grattis!

VargaVinter by Simon Rahnasto 2022-04-10T09:11:34Z

Great voice acting, solid visuals, great job! My only issues were with aiming the axe swings, I was having a bit of a hard time with it in some fights. Overall really cool game, keep it up!

MacBooler by kromeboy 2022-04-07T11:21:04Z

Really nice entry! Took me a solid while to understand the game mechanics, but once I did, the game felt great! If you want to continue this post-jam, an in-game tutorial would be nice, or some sort of practice mode where you can interactively see what your actions actually do, to attempt to match your set of lights with the target set of lights. A solid entry, congrats!

Beyond The Veil by Hare Software 2022-04-07T17:47:00Z

Wow, I certainly wasn't expecting this level of artistic quality from a one-weekend game jam! The sounds especially were great, not just the superb voice acting and awesome music, but the sound effects too. I have to agree with some of the other commenters that gameplay felt a bit slow and frustrating at times. However, balancing problems like this are more than understandable for a jam game. Keep it up, nice work!

Apocalyptic Romance by Shakedimus 2022-04-05T11:14:14Z

I unfortunately didn't quite understand the gameplay. Maybe if there was a little more time to react, or if the different items flying at you had some colour/symbols to help the player recognize their effects at a glance? Nice tunes, though!

Seas to be by halflemonstudios 2022-04-09T10:49:41Z

I really liked the water shader and the bow wave particles! Sometimes the ghost ships went a bit crazy and started to shake furiously. Overall a solid entry, keep it up!

Snow Dude! by Zliebowitz 2022-04-10T09:01:34Z

The movement animation on the Snow Dude was really smooth and detailed, nice level of polish. Solid platformer with a neat movement gimmick! I'm not sure if controlling the dash with the mouse cursor made it easier or more difficult. At least in the start I had some problems meaningfully aiming with the mouse while moving with WASD. Overall a solid entry, keep it up!

Meltdown by DesertMaw 2022-04-12T14:17:40Z

Great job on the presentation, both visuals and sounds! I know it is notoriously difficult to include it in the short time frame of a game jam, but some form of tutorial or other player guidance really goes a long way. In this game it wasn't really clear what I as a player should do. However, you clearly have a good group going, keep it up!

Sandwich Drop by Renge 2022-04-10T10:09:54Z

The jumping animation on the cart was a really nice touch! Also loved the cutscenes and the dialog. There were a few stuttering issues where the mouselook camera went a bit crazy, but otherwise the controls worked well. Cool game, keep it up!

March of the Mega-Machines by Arttu Halonen 2022-04-07T04:57:02Z

@reulan Thanks for playing, glad you liked it! I noticed when I was playtesting early on that I would just spam towers right next to each other, and thought that the game would be more interesting if that wasn't as easy to do.

March of the Mega-Machines by Arttu Halonen 2022-04-07T12:23:43Z

@axelitou @askoed Thanks for playing! Yeah, there wasn't that much time to balance the towers, the triple-shot is definitely the most powerful. And funnily enough I'm pretty sure that the most expensive tower is also the least powerful, or at least it's hard to position effectively.

March of the Mega-Machines by Arttu Halonen 2022-04-07T16:28:10Z

@alurian Thanks for playing, glad you liked it! I was initially planning on a small text tutorial, but sadly ran out of time.

March of the Mega-Machines by Arttu Halonen 2022-04-09T10:03:32Z

@helzinko Thanks for playing! Glad that you liked it!

March of the Mega-Machines by Arttu Halonen 2022-04-09T10:05:24Z

@zabenderman Thanks for playing! Yeah, I had initially planned to have some UI effect showing the nearby towers more clearly when you are placing a new tower. Also I had planned to do a small text tutorial that would have explained the variable cost. Just ran out of time, as it tends to go with game jams.

March of the Mega-Machines by Arttu Halonen 2022-04-09T10:09:42Z

@simon-rahnasto Thank you for the high praise! Even though the scope for this game was too big for a three-day jam, I'm still glad I was able to get the visuals and sound effects to this level in time. And yeah, I tried to tune the game so that playing wouldn't take too long, as most reviewers don't spend that long on a single game.

And I'm really glad you liked the sounds! It was a fun extra challenge for me, since I just used a microphone and some household items to create the sounds.

Kiitoksia kovasti!

@smiley Thanks for playing, glad you liked it! I checked out your LD44 tower defense game, I really liked it too! Tack så mycket, och hälsningar!

@notnasiul Thanks for playing! Fun to bring up old memories, glad you liked the game!

@desertmaw Thanks for playing! Yeah, I agree that the comparative costs and damage outputs of the towers were not balanced, I didn't have enough time to tweak those better. Also I hadn't played a tower defense game in a while so I forgot that they often have a fast-forward feature! Glad you liked the game!

March of the Mega-Machines by Arttu Halonen 2022-04-12T14:04:12Z

@imaginary Thanks for playing! Yes, that's definitely something I didn't have enough time for during the jam, but would like to improve if I decide to continue this project post-jam.

@janku Thanks for playing and thanks for the praise! Adding more variety would definitely be nice, if I decide to continue this project post-jam. It really makes me happy to hear that you feel this game is worth expanding, receiving comments like this are among the best feelings a dev can get from a jam!

March of the Mega-Machines by Arttu Halonen 2022-04-12T16:12:19Z

@likirus Thanks for playing! Glad you liked the game! The price mechanic would definitely need more explaining, unfortunately I ran out of time to implement something to make it more clear. As the price of a tower increases for each existing tower inside the new tower's range, I probably should have added some effect highlighting the nearby towers affecting the price.

@tom-kun Thanks for playing! Glad that you liked the game! I understand the confusion, that mechanic isn't explained clearly enough in the game. I ended up with the system to make the game more difficult (to make sure the game will inevitably end), as in my early tests I too ended up just spamming turrets right next to each other. I also thought that the dynamic pricing would work as an interesting additional gameplay element.

THEMARUNGA by Trexxak 2022-04-07T05:22:45Z

The voice narration was a nice surprise! I also liked the idea of controlling to things at once, although it got a bit too difficult too quick for me. Nice entry overall!

Majellan by Reulan 2022-04-05T11:09:41Z

Cool idea and cute animations! I couldn't quite figure out the shop, maybe I just didn't collect enough pickups.

Mortal Compass by JakubBala 2022-04-12T14:01:40Z

A really cool idea and well implemented! The graphics and the sounds work well together, and hunting down mortals using the compass was a neat puzzle while avoiding the damned souls. The movement felt a bit floaty (which kind of fits for a floating reaper), perhaps that feel could be improved. Solid entry, keep it up!

Desert Oasis by Janku 2022-04-12T16:08:49Z

Fun idea and cute creatures! Especially nice work on the animations! It took me a while to understand what the game was about, and then the game seemed to go on forever with the two last creatures surviving, leaving me somewhat confused. A really unique concept, keep it up!

The Death of Time by OminusGalaxy44 2022-04-10T10:31:56Z

Congrats on making a game! It was a bit difficult to see which parts of the environment were platforms and which we just background, and I fell from the world quite a few times because of it. The character movement speed was a bit high compared to how far you could see, but the gun controls worked really well. Keep it up!

*"So, gentlemen, stay with me awhile, for nothing prevents us from talking to each other if we were unable to come to the help of the corruptor"*

Well if that isn't the most profound thing I've heard all day, I don't know what is!

Really cool idea, I'm glad I ran into this! It would be nice if there was a replay button after you have exited the stage. A really fun experience, keep it up!

Owl Knight by Askoed 2022-04-07T16:35:55Z

I really loved the art style! Especially the charge-up attack looked really nice. I had some difficulty with the combat, it was hard to hit the enemies while also dodging their attacks. Also after a few tries I ran into a problem where I was stuck in the beginning ("Press T to throw...") and couldn't move. But I really liked that you had a tutorial for some of the mechanics! A solid entry, congrats!

Forest by StudioCherno 2022-04-07T18:19:31Z

I'm subscribed to your channel but missed the Ludum Dare video, so I was very surprised to have stumbled across your game naturally through this site's recommendations. Congrats on making a game! I too had problems getting the game running, but updating my RTX 3060 drivers fixed the problems. The mood was very suspenseful and strong, and I feel that the lack of tutorials or direction added to that feeling of being out of place. The gameplay was solid, perhaps the feedback on you getting hit by the enemies could be made more clear. Overall a solid entry, keep it up!

Void Prison by Tadas Migauskas 2022-04-10T08:46:32Z

Wow! Wasn't expecting this level of polish from a jam game, great job! I loved the feel of the dodge roll and how your gun pushed you back (very interesting combination with you trying to avoid the edges). Nice job, keep it up!

I Sink Not by eeldam 2022-04-10T09:57:37Z

Designing and building ships was really fun, great work on the system! I was having some difficulties detecting the damage on the ship parts and the rising damage meter felt like it didn't show up consistently. I really liked the art style. Great job, keep it up!

The Bay of the Ineffable by HendrikLober 2022-04-07T11:06:59Z

I was a bit confused at first, maybe a little tutorial or some UI tips would help? Understandably not under the time pressure of the jam, of course. But congrats on finishing! The game looks nice and the concept is promising. Keep it up!

Delayed Destruction by Imaginary 2022-04-12T14:29:46Z

A really fun idea and well executed! The player movement took a little getting used to, but the physics worked without too much issue (game physics are always a nightmare to get working properly). After my first playthrough I first thought that the I had seen all the game had to offer, but when the end screen hinted about the neighbours' houses being moved, I was inspired to go back in and try to wedge the girders between the other houses. It worked and was really fun! Nice job, keep it up!

Muzketeerz by Lord Shulky 2022-04-05T11:22:52Z

I really liked this one! The art style of the graphics and sounds worked together really well, and the concept was great! With a bit more visual feedback (to see if the game registered my inputs the way I expect) and work on the controls (middle mouse in the browser version turns into the page scroll cursor), this will be an even more fun experience!
