LD46 — Keep it alive

The Three Sisters by dollarone 2020-04-24T10:38:42Z

I wouldn't say that it's "my type" of a game, but it clearly got my attention. I like the layout of the page and its look, despite its simplicity. A bit of background music would surely make the game more engaging and would help to set the right mood. As for your writing, I really liked it, apart from some single moments - for example the word "obviously" triggered me a little for some reason. I think naming each of the Three Sisters would really help the immersion, instead of referring to them as "North Sister", "West Sister". -**spoilers**- I ended up freezing on the eastern peak, after getting excited about the city. Next time I got killed by the bear. Then died under an avalanche. Then found the frozen man and died beneath the north mountain. Then went to the man again and got eaten by wolves. Went to the man again, then frozen to death. Then tried climbing the east mountain again, didn't freeze this time, and found the ending! So that makes me wonder what the man's note actually means. -**end of spoilers**- Most of the game seems to be just "where do you go next?", but the good design of the map and environment makes it very pleasant. I really didn't think I'll get so much sucked into the game. I'm happy I didn't give up after the first try. That's an amazing game you made. And just a side note: your website seems to be insecure. In fact I shouldn't even have opened the link. I know having the site certified may be hard, but you should definitely think about it, or have your games hosted somewhere else.

That Time I Crossed A Barren Desert To Protect&Care The World From Terrible Code by alaah 2020-04-24T12:33:14Z

Amazing game, and looks like quite a lot of work too. I was really impressed by the music and sounds. The game was pretty hard at times, specifically there were two levels that I had to restart about 7 times to get them right. The head tapping is a nice touch, but I think it would be better if Nem somehow reacted to it and thus gave us feedback. I never knew if I tapped her properly. In many levels the falling apples just meant "there's a chance you lose, but don't bother". They were definitely a nice and funny addition, though. In levels where apples really mattered, guarding Nem from them was enjoyable, probably even more than building stairs or digging tunnels. Apart form that, you've created an interesting story, definitely one of the best I've seen so far.

GRAVITY. by ben657 2020-04-24T11:39:43Z

I'm really impressed by the game. I had to spend quite a bit of time to learn controlling the ship correctly. Getting in nice orbits is enormously satisfying. I once tried to make a similar game so I know how hard it is, especially given the time limit. I often got thrown out of the orbit zone just a little bit, disrupting the fuel/oxygen collection. I'd probably like the thrusters to be a bit more powerful, at times I felt like a rock floating through space, unable to do anything. The ability to pause and/or restart would be useful. I managed to lose all fuel and oxygen, and I kept floating. Overall, awesome game!

Space to Party by Levi 2020-04-22T21:11:31Z

Spent my playthrough just walking around trying to pick up items, found a table and some chairs, but none of the people seemed to want anything. I love the wobbly physics and movement, but after some time they become more frustrating than fun. The graphics and music are nice.

Mutiny by Cataractar 2020-04-24T11:13:13Z

Awesome game! I played normal mode without paying much attention to morale or productivity. These two things were a bit hard to manage when they were only displayed on small colored icons. I also forgot what exact effect did each of the spots on the ship have. I'd prefer if they were marked somehow, apart from being held distinct thanks to (really nice) art. I also think that leaving crew members eating and drinking should not deplete the resources when they're already full - bad management of the crew is punishing enough for the player. At moments it also took some time to tell the crew apart and find the right guy. Some music and sounds would definitely help the game, the silence made it hard to really immerse into the management thingy.

K33P1T4L1V3 by alininavcisi 2020-04-20T10:20:12Z

Interesting game. I like the overall look, animations and sound. It took me a while to figure out what kind of ciphering is meant (but I'm not sure even at this point). As for gameplay, the first day was a nice introduction, but I became a bit bored at the very start because of how much time it took to fill out the gaps. I think you could greatly improve the game by putting the word list beside the protocols, so that we wouldn't have to move it back and forth all the time. But that could as well be intentional so that we would have to memorize the protocols, is it? What would be useful is a key to select the next gap (Tab for example). Other aspects of the game could also be transferred to keyboard input, so that you don't have to change between writing and using the mouse. The word-puzzle aspect of the game is really interesting and original, I liked it.

Heart of the World Tree by Arttu Halonen 2020-04-24T14:46:25Z

Hey, that's a pretty good game, especially if it's your first jam. My best time is 2:04. I really like the game's layout, your graphics are nice and the blurred background add a sense of depth. The sounds are pleasant too. I've downloaded the Windows build and the bloom effect looks really good indeed. I feel like it takes too much time to get the paddle moving, I'd prefer the movement to be more instant, so it would be easier to control it and make sharp turns. But I understand that the current style of movement makes it look more realistic. At some moments you just can't control all the balls because of where they spawn. You can be good or bad at hitting the balls, but sooner or later you will lose one of them because of randomness. That makes it really hard to "feel good" at the game. There's no real indicator of your skill. I think that may be the reason why the game feels a bit "empty" at the moment.

Fleurist by TheJonu 2020-04-20T09:42:30Z

Thank you all for your reviews, I'm so glad that you like the game!

@martintale Thanks! I was thinking about adding a system where people would request specific bouquets, or where people would rate your bouquets and suggest a price. To implement it correctly, it would take another day or so. This time I wanted to create simple, yet polished gameplay, and avoid ending up with half of the game unfinished.

@blakegamedev Thanks for your suggestion, I definitely should've added more various sound effects. Right now sound is not my good side, but this makes it the next thing I should learn.

As you mentioned @dhim there's a bug where prices don't appear on the bouquet tags. I'll try to fix this asap.

Fleurist by TheJonu 2020-04-24T12:52:49Z

Thanks for your comments, guys!

@wischi I was concerned with the feedback too, but I didn't come up with a graphical effect for that, and thus the only feedback is sound.

I realize the game lacks an aim right now, that was a time issue, I didn't want to create half-cooked mechanics on the run. But as I have more time now, I'm planning on expanding the game with additional systems that would make the money actually matter.

Fleurist by TheJonu 2020-04-24T15:12:46Z

Thanks @alaah. As for the prices you mentioned, that is an enormous bug and I have no idea why and when it got there. Bouquets should be sold for exactly the price that is written on their tag. I'll get to fixing this thing right now.

This game was practically an experiment, I wanted to see how would it turn out if instead of focusing on mechanics and systems, I focused on the visual aspects, smoothness and overall polish. And it turned out pretty well, better than expected.

You're definitely right with the music, my skills are at level zero. I aimed for anything that could be described with words other than "awful, disgusting". I used Bosca Ceoil and I don't really like the way that piano sounds there, but I'll definitely give it a try.

Edit: the bug turned out to be just the lack of one logic condition. Thanks again for spotting it.

Feed The Fire by Nuanda79 2020-04-24T07:33:32Z

Really nice and simple game. The graphics are awesome and the sounds are quite pleasant (except for the "oh no" which I don't personally like). Also I didn't quite like the fact that items are randomized every time you throw something into the fire, so you can't return to an item that you saw earlier. But it probably makes the gameplay better, so it's not a problem. Amazing game!

Firekeeper by Minrato2 2020-04-24T13:32:56Z

I kept dying and losing the sticks all the time, but managed to finish it in first try. I really liked it. I think that the light before the upgrade is too small, i fell in the water and didn't even know it was water. Same goes for the pit at the left. The graphics and overall atmosphere are really pleasant, it was nice walking around, exploring the place and finding all the upgrades.

Keep the flame alive (adventures of an arsonist) by Llewellyn and Michael 2020-04-24T13:10:26Z

Nice platformer, I liked how different terrain makes you come up with different ways to shoot the water guys. The speed of the character allows for some real fast-paced gameplay, but at first it seemed a bit off and hard to control, especially when compared with the relatively low jump. I've got to complain about the blue level - it was very dark, and the background on your Itch page is very light and contrasting, making it really bad for the eyes. Mine, unfortunately, got very tired very fast.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

That Time I Was Held Hostage By Some Loop, So I Followed The Road And I Was Fine by alaah 2020-10-11T21:19:51Z

- awesome, funny voice acting - great atmosphere and mood - well planned tension throughout the game

When playing LD games I usually have a moment where I stop to calculate if the game is still worth my time. I had no such thing with yours.

I really like how creepy the... illusions(?) are. And the colors... the colors are the scariest part. I also appreciate how the disturbing sounds and screen overlay get stronger the closer you are to the "exit". Overall, great work.

Roundabout Rowdy by Andreas Roschal 2020-10-07T20:54:58Z

It's simply pleasant and fun to play, and that's a great achievement for a jam. You can just feel how polished every aspect of the game is. Great job, definitely one of the best games I've played so far.

Lucky Lefty Loves Loops by TheBookSnail 2020-10-07T21:06:45Z

I was wondering "Hey, the snail looks nice, why are the walls so pixelated?". Mind blown. You're in a loop stuck in a loop.

Stranded by Robonaut121 2020-10-11T20:49:17Z

It's not loading because of an error while decompressing the game's files. As far as I know, the solutions are either to disable compression completely or to enable *Decompression Fallback* (see https://docs.unity3d.com/2020.1/Documentation/Manual/webgl-deploying.html). I hope it helps.

I really like the game's mood, I hope it had some deep and menacing soundtrack to it. It's overall kinda hard, I only managed to get to the one monster guarding a tight corridor south. I think it feels strange to have the flashlight so far from the player. Probably the best part of the game is the atmosphere and the lighting. Good job!

Tum-Tum: An Unexpected Diet by Maxime Barre 2020-10-07T21:16:42Z

Meow. The idea of "avoiding your shadows" is very original and fun. I had a good time wondering what's the best strategy, but the game is probably more fun when you just go straight for the mice.

Resurrection by etrealjunior 2020-10-10T13:58:19Z

It all comes together to create a unique and engaging experience.

Loop Deleter by Zachary Barbanell 2020-10-07T20:39:46Z

It's original, engaging, challenging, and fits the theme perfectly. Great job.

Please Just Leave by Noam Blei 2020-10-11T20:14:04Z

Please put a reminder in the description that the game is only playable with sound on.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Vast Trivia Of The Void by JorgeGameDev 2021-04-27T17:44:22Z

The amount of effort you guys put into this game in such a short time is unreal. It's all polished and fully professional. So much that it doesn't even leave anything to comment on! I managed to get only 1/3 of the questions correct, but I guess trivia games are not made to be easy. Sometimes though the questions concerned topics which I had not the slightest idea about. But then the cards come in, it's a very nice touch which makes the game more interesting.

Deep Field by symmeteer 2021-04-27T15:44:53Z

It prints an *observation report* each second and kinda jumps up and down all the time in the console, making it hard to read. That's an interesting idea, unfortunately I didn't figure out how to play it.

The shaft by smiley 2021-04-27T16:13:52Z

You can really see how much effort you guys put into the game, it's so well put together! I especially like the music, graphical effects and the overall feel. The whole level sliding down on rails is so cool! And the LD level is a really nice touch! My only issue would be that the platform movement feels a bit hard to control, I don't know if that's intentional. The amount of upgrades you get seems to be just perfect. Overall, very fun and well made game!

The Frozen Deep by Mads 2021-04-27T18:05:25Z

I love how you can rotate the level. The graphics are beautiful and the game keeps a very nice atmosphere. I got stuck in a loop after the large opening and couldn't figure out where to go next. Sorry, Johnny.

Implosion by Caveman54 2021-04-27T16:34:21Z

The game's really original and engaging. Levels are very clever. It took me a while to figure out I can move droids on other floors, hah! My mind got totally blown when I realized the music changes on each floor. That's an awesome touch! For me the only issue is the slow animation speed, faster reaction times would probably improve the whole experience a little. Very solid game!

Derelict Dive by tetrapteryx 2021-04-27T16:47:09Z

The art style is adorable! The game's quite simple in its concept and the difficulty scales very well, making it a really pleasant experience. I especially liked how the size of canisters increased in time. The music also fits very well with the atmosphere. Awesome game overall, thank you for this!

The Mystery of Stalore-9 by Arthur Mairs 2021-04-27T17:06:42Z

The music made the whole gameplay somewhat frustrating. Apart from that, everything's very well put together. I really like the alien models and animations.

Sharpy wheel by daine0 2021-04-27T06:25:12Z

It seems that there's a problem with your web build, it doesn't load for me. You could try disabling compression in the build settings.

Khazads by vsi- 2021-04-27T06:59:10Z

Took me too much time to figure out it was an archer shooting at me. And how do you fight the boss? I went through the game having no idea what the items do. I (obviously) didn't read the text block, I see now that you can swap weapons, I suppose that was the way to fight the boss.

Bunker by Escapade 2021-04-27T17:53:43Z

Hm, I have no idea how to get past the biometric scanner.

Deep Pocket Digs by ChrisAP 2021-04-27T07:24:06Z

Very interesting mechanics! The game in itself was rather hard, and I gave up soon because collecting score pellets was not motivating enough for me.

Dangerous Depths by Mololo 2021-04-27T07:16:18Z

It doesn't look like it, but it's insanely hard. It's either based on pure luck or on your split-second reaction time. I happened to collect a box and it made me go even faster. I really thought the boxes gave you something *positive*.

Rabbit Rappel by MatterLinx 2021-04-27T06:39:44Z

Took me a while to figure out how to play properly. The graphics are astonishing.

100 by woahitsjeff 2021-04-27T15:31:42Z

The radial menu didn't feel like showing up, but it was possible to beat the game without it. Apart from that, really impressed. The voice messages are a nice touch. The powerful bass later in the soundtrack caught me completely off guard!

LD52 — Harvest

Crop Creep by dikkop 2023-01-21T14:24:50Z

Great entry, I had a lot of fun! I love how your game's mechanic explains why the patters are circular! Liked the music and death sounds too.

NINE LIVES - Harvesting of souls by jan5366x 2023-01-21T13:45:23Z

I loved the graphics, music, sounds and the general vibe. My only feedback is that the cat movement shouldn't rely on physics so much (makes it floaty, instead of snappy) and when moving fast, the camera stays far behind and you can't see what's in front of you. Apart from that, good work!

Unalived by TheJonu 2023-01-14T22:37:16Z

@miolosh The trick is to dash just after you jump, it makes you go a bit higher. I realize now that it's pretty unintuitive.

@boaz4 I have no idea what the red screen was all about, sorry for that! Yeah, we should have disabled the shift key, it's totally inconvenient. Glad you made it, though!

@alaah You're so good at this

Hare Runner by Crychair 2023-01-21T14:13:37Z

The music and voice acting is lovely. Apart from that, I think it would make more sense as a bullet hell if the speed of the projectiles was independent of the shooter's speed. This made it feel like total chaos most of the time. Also the player's movement speed felt weird and unpredictable sometimes, not sure why.

Harvy Tile by Miolosh 2023-01-14T22:26:13Z

Very relaxing

LD54 — Limited Space

Rover Under by ColeSlaughter 2023-10-03T19:03:27Z

Didn't expect to find this gem! Very well executed. I love the idea of three teams battling for superiority.

Storage Overflow 2 by Andreas Roschal 2023-10-04T21:22:37Z

I thought that you need to put the items in those white areas and was really confused there for a second. And when picking stuff up after it fell from a truck, it doesn't get high enough and glitches heavily when trying to put it back. I really liked the whole concept though! Quite unique and fun.

SUPA SEAL-MAN!! 小さな氷山島に魚の事故!! by MoonDweller 2023-10-03T19:10:55Z

The music fits perfectly. Mood 10 out of 5. Had fun. (EDIT 5.10: I greatly prefer the original version without the voice lines during play. Came back to replay for the awesome vibes but sadly it's not the same anymore, as the voices are distracting and very repetitive.)

LD55 — Summoning

The Grand Summoner ... of Lifts by Arti Dev 2024-04-21T11:19:38Z

Cool idea!
