U no take Loot! by Orni 2015-08-25T22:42:00
Awesome work. Lots of nice graphics. Interesting idea :) The only challenge really was to set all the traps and renew the pentagrams, maybe other traps should expire as well? But very well done!

Awesome work. Lots of nice graphics. Interesting idea :) The only challenge really was to set all the traps and renew the pentagrams, maybe other traps should expire as well? But very well done!
Great mood and graphics. The jumping feels a bit short and I slipped quite easily off some ledges. And 1 life!! TOO HARD ;) But awesome work.
Nice! As a former DM this hit the spot:) Good interpretation of the theme!
Cool two-character concept, although I initially didn't get what the deal was with the janitor as I didn't use the slime attack :) Some levels were pretty hard! Good work
Great idea! The camera angles made it scary! You could have added some jaws-like music:) I will now go to sleep and have a nightmare. Thanks!
Hehe good idea. Humping furniture until they explode ;)
But yeah, that little monster. Took me a while to realise the power of running. Cool but really hard!
Excellent theme implementation. I feel bad for all the Koopa's I've killed over the years now!
Awesome graphics, really like it.
Cool idea. Some of the levels took me several tries, I like how you have to experiment with the towers to get it right. But who is the monster? ;)
LOL. George R.R. needs to play this!
Excellent throughout. Really enjoyed that. Cool ending! ps. got stuck in the html version but java works well.
Hey fellow frog-game creator! Turning frogger into a monster - nice idea! I like being able hit the police after purchasing some tongue from the tongue store. Good work, nice graphics!
Good controls, graphics and idea. Lots of potential here!
Heh, cool idea. A game where you are an actual monster! The level with 4 people stumped me, the 2nd guy starts pointing before I finish my scare. Anyway, great interpretation of the theme!
The particles and fire animation and music were all great! Would be cool if the tanks shot at you instead of just slowly nudging you. Cool idea! I AM the monster :)
Awesome stuff - makes me want to learn Unity (or some other 3d engine). Game looks and plays fantastic. Would be great to be able to kill the adventurer. Music was nice. I actually liked that there is no map, I mean, would you really expect Orc #29 to have a map?:)
Ofcourse the FSM had to make an appearance! We all bow to His Holy Tentacles. Good work!
Great game. It took me some time to realise I wasn't playing as DK. Cool and challenging gameplay. How many levels did you make?
Fantastic. Will re-play. Delicious graphics, excellent handling and innovative gameplay. All thumbs up!
Very cool game idea. Good mood and I love the graphics. I hit the same bug as dwemthy, but will try it again to get to the end. Great work!
Fantastic entry. From the mood in the title screen to the "employee of the month" posters, this is all good. Great work.
MAN! this is brutal. Contra mixed with SMB2. Good work but PUNISHING!
The light inside the building is awesome. The game is smooth and plays well with the added challenge of mastering the attack animation. Would have liked some more speed as tracking down the humans is hard. One one level, after I was down to 2 humans, the attack button stopped working, which was frustrating! Anyway, good effort!
Awesome game mechanic. Very interesting use in the levels. Good job! (+ you're using phaser, yey)
Yakka: in level 10, go to the first elevated rock, move 1 right, then stand up completely, before crossing the lava!
The art and the colours generate a mood by themselves, even with the loud sound effects:) The game plays really smoothly and without bugs. Some of the levels "felt" designed. I think you can make this into a cool game with some more time!
3.5 hours, nice :) I like how the monsters don't really seem to mind what they eat (in the animations).
Cool game. IT was quite challenging due to the various movement of the different types of people - cool. Win by sacrificing others...brutal :D
haha, nice twist! thanks for adding the mute button :D
Haha, cool idea! So hard to watch two things at the same time. Interesting. Are there different heroes? I struggled to get far :)
Cool idea! I went through all the levels- I even read the help text :) Lots of work for a compo - well done!
hah pretty funny stuff. Very meta and random. I like it :)
HAha, actual lol. Great humour! I'm a cardboard box! A Monster cardboard box. Fantastic!
Zupoman: try utilising the bounce!
Thanks! If you jump at the top of your bounce you can get a bit higher. But I'll take that feedback for future projects!
Zupoman: thanks! And yes, definitely too short - I was planning on at least 3 levels and just ran out of time.
Tijn: thanks! Best tactic I think is to have at least 2 hearts and just rush in and jump via the ledge. Some guy beat him with 4 full hearts, I can't do that!
hehe, justinooncx, well done on beating the cursed frog king!
richardjs: hah, inventive :) I agree that he is too hard. In the post-compo version I've changed it so it's a step, not a hole. Makes jumping much easier.
Thanks for playing and commenting!
haha you found the corpse-copter bug! well done and thanks for playing :)
thanks! had fun watching!
MAnimal: I totally agree :)
I am the LORD MONSTER! I got to about 150 monsters/sec - would be cool to have more upgrades etc. Anyway, well done!
Cool game! I liked the abilities and the different enemies - the shield guy being an interesting addition. I liked the humour too! Overall, well done!
Great game, the music and graphics gave me strong Zelda 2 flashbacks. I found a sweet spot in Corner Forest by the south western city, grabbed 20k points before I quit. Seems like being a Groll (who looks a lot like a Tarrasque!) is pretty tough!
Awesome take on the theme. Life's unfair for those goombas - so slow! Gave me real satisfaction to kick Mario...sorry, Marius' ass. Great work!
Cool idea! The monster helpers don't really seem to help. Maybe that's intended:) Fantastic attack sound. I really like the idea, maybe with some further dev it could be really good!
Heh cool monster-theme. I like the drunken people drawings. And the music is great! Gameplay was cool, quite hard to avoid the bad thoughts! Well done!
Really well done. Interesting gameplay, upgrades, and challenge. Great fit for the theme. Web version works really well. Awesome work.
Nice theme, graphics, sound and gameplay. Well done sir!
A card game - awesome. It was simple yet interesting. I like the attack/defend approach, haven't seen that before, which is great innovation. Easy to learn, hard to master?:)
Fantastic game. With some polish and more abilities this is a proper game! Very well done!
Who comes up with this shit? (sorry) Great take on the theme, I always wanted to create a shitstorm. Anyway, Cool graphics and excellent music. Well done!
Heh, great idea! This dare is like the revenge of the koopas and goombas and pacman-ghosts :) Good work, excellent music!
Echoing previous comments - would have been good if something happened once I ate all the spirits. Good effort tho, I like the graphics and the music was very moody (in a good way!)
Cool game - love the intro. One of them hunters got me, though.
Cool idea. Will have to come back and try it when I'm not sleep-deprived and see how corrupted I can make my image :)
Awesome work on your first LD - it was my first one as well!
I killed all the kids; hope you're happy! ;)
Cool game, not too difficult, maybe the kids should have weirder patterns or something. But good idea and execution!
Great innovation The mighty Is-O's revenge! I agree with Crypto in that a minimap would be excellent.
Great mood! Absolutely amazing music. Very good graphics.
However I could never get the lady a drink. Watch some replays on youtube and I follow the exact same order of events. Hence, couldn't get all the endings. Sadface.
The mood in this game is PERFECT. The music along with the suspense is great. Thanks for the savepoints - without them I would have given up :) The ending is worth it, although the protagonist seems to innocent for that ending :/ Great work!
Wow, so much graphic. Awesome work, I struggle to get a single animation done. Cool interpretation of the theme. I liked the paper at the end, will have to go back and replay for better reviews ;)
Fantastic game. So far the game that have made me feel that I indeed am the monster. Great tentacles! I like the idea of your second life being a slightly lesser version!
Awesome game. Great idea, great controls (given the theme) and fantastic take on what I expected to be a "standard" tamagotchi game. Great stuff Sir!
Love the music! And the game just get tenser and tenser, when I've invested literally millions of years in it. That spinoffsaurus nearly did me in, but I survived and lived to see millions of additional years!
Graphics were nice, the fight screen very nice! Awesome work. The battle music is perfect!
That's cool: three games with 2 controls! Like the mood and music. The controls are sometimes a bit hard, but the games are original and have the same style. Good work!
This is fantastic. Good graphics, challenging but fun gameplay, TWELVE levels (I know how much this work is).
Absolutely great. I applaud you! (Last level was tricky but very cool)
Beautiful and excellent take on the theme. Audio adds to the mood. Controls a challenge, but intentionally so (I think). The vine looks really nice even with my spinning addiction. Great stuff!
Cool game! The controls are challenging but also original. Some of the jumps were quite cool to master! Procedural dungeons are great! Good graphics although the twitchy shadows are hard to endure for a long time. Great work
Excellent entry. Not easy to come up with a puzzler! I really like the random buttons idea; it was quite hard to get used to it.
Excellent interpretation of the theme. and I managed to win!
Nice game. I like the different characters that impact the controls. Is a clone born everytime you die? I found the time was quite short (unless you happen to be able to run)
Good work!
Cool! Simple but plays nicely and you made A LOT OF LEVELS. That's hard work. I managed to get to the end but instinctively jumped over the treasure :D Good work!
Awesome. Tank battles very hard until I read the "boost" ability. Still decently challenging but doable after that. Great 3d and flying-feeling. Fantastic work!
Great game! Controls nicely, and I like the 3d view. Got pretty hard, even with the nuke. Good stuff
Cool game. I think you can only fail if you jump one branch too early, is that correct? Anyway, I really liked the ranking-signs as you pass them, nice touch :)
Most insane game so far: well don! :) The idea is amazing: pump the balloon while watching TV.
Love random, original entries. Good work!
Very good! Dig the terminal, the story, the buildup, and there's even an ending! Great stuff. Awesome graphics and gameplay - I always wanted to be an AT-ST :) Challenging but not impossible, and a lot of fun. Great!
Great graphics! Excellent music and sounds. Really like the idea. Maybe more options of things to do would be nice, but then it wouldn't be two button controls. A lot of fun, and good humour. I got 1 million subs! woo!
I couldn't figure out how to change candy type? I can only spam the green snack :(
Nice game, although probably one of the easiest snake-style games I've played since hitting the wall is ok and you can deposit bodyparts for later collection. But cool concept and execution!
Cool little simulator. Nice to see the changes as you temper with the environment. Gave me some ideas for the future! Excellent.
Thanks for comments everyone! I agree that the two button controls made the game worse - I will update it with "normal" controls and put a development version on the "web" link soon!
Cool game! I like the tutorial-style levels. Would be cool to have more/harder levels but I know exactly how time consuming level making is!
Good work!
Two buttons! yes!
Excellent interpretation of the theme. Cool concept, very "flower"-like. I liked that you had different colours of yarn depending on the landscape. Nice and refreshing. Good work!
Ah kenney art! Love that guy. Nice happy music, simple and effective idea, with more time maybe you could add different obstacles. Good work!
Congrats, this is the weirdest volleyball game I have played :-D
I managed to beat level 1, but it didn't seem to matter how close the (small) ball was for me to hit it or not. Love the music btw :)
Nice graphics and the gameplay is simple and intuitive. Would be good to get a score and win/loss condition but all good. The music is some crazy atonal/chinise inspired thing - very interesting! Good work
BRUTAL! Good fun, I wonder how it works as proper two player :)
Interesting idea. Really quite hard! Cool take on the infinite runner genre. Good work!
Very cool music:) Challenging and fun game! I managed 290 after learning how to hang on the hard way. Good stuff!
Beautiful ending! Quick and simple game that plays well, although would be good if shooting was a bit more limited and didn't move you to the left. Cool idea.
Pretty cool. I used the walkthrough (thanks for providing), but it seems extremely hard to figure out without a lot of random trying/failing.
But nice to play something different!
Excellent entry. Should've been in the previous one really, where the theme was "you are the monster". I certainly feel like one. Not sure I got the ending, but it was an interesting experience anyway. Awesome music/theme and fantastic acting.
Hi there, I could only run the research screen which didn't do anything. Sounds like a cool idea though! I like the idea of having multiple win conditions!
Funny game. I like the beard sprites and what happens once you start giving up. Cool entry!
Nice little puzzler. Very clean and pro look, and a cool sliding concept once I figured out the rotation feature :)
Impressive to make 11 levels - I know that stuff takes time.
The only issue with the game, I think, is that once you "get it" finding a solution is not that hard. Maybe you could introduce other elements such as non-movable blocks or # of shifts or something if you want to extend it.
But all in all, very nice!
Love the graphics. Very double dragon. The gameplay kinda got easy when I realised I could spam the power puff move, but still fun to kick some ass. The humour and meta-comments were amazing. Very well done!
Great little game. I like the tutorial and gradual build up and also how losing a life makes you drop levels. Makes it more painful! The original one was harder, but I managed to beat it in the end. I like how the levels got progressively harder.
The chop-cat seems a bit useless, unless he does crazy damage. Ninja cat was good, and the original good vs boss. Didn't get to try the bottom one.
All in all felt like a complete - if short - game. And I like the yarn/scratch-pole items :)
Very nice. I like the tilted angle of the tiles. It's the perfect take on the theme, with added morality lesson. I liked changing into a different shape and running away - those are some fierce gangs!
Nice music and cool surprise with the boss and the way you beat him. Excellent.
Nice idea. Quite a hard game! I found three of the shapes before resorting to cheating.
Thanks so much for the guide :)
While I managed to win by fleeing fairly easily, winning by elimination was much harder. Not sure if I won by exposing a bug or if it as intended, but hey!
Very original and interesting game. A lot of information to take in and consider, but that makes it interesting in my eyes.
The music fits well and adds to the mood. I like it, good work.
Very nice effort! Very impressive for a 72h jam!
sorry man, can't run it in linux - Segmentation fault (core dumped) - and it's all pitch black in windows.
I love the colours and the hand-drawn/painted style - really makes it stand out. The animation is really smooth and the music fits perfectly. I like the ending, it just needs a "the end ... or is it?" type banner.
The levels were good, start easy and grow from there. Levels are a massive time sink, so I think you've done well there.
Overall, a beautiful game!
Excellent idea! Music fits. Love the old lady :)
Only complaint is that hard mode was too easy: http://imgur.com/WKRA4XW ;)
great stuff. ps phaser yay!
Very cool idea. I wasn't sure if I was to push the slime monster to the exit or avoid him, but either works:) The snake thing was annoying, but the submarine saves the day. I think there's a lot of potential here, although you might need to add some bits, for example, why would I choose the car over the helicopter? Oh maybe it has a better weapon or something.
Good stuff!
Took me a while to understand what to do - thought I was clearing up space first. But : now that I get it, it's a lot of fun! Although many times all I need to do is to shift the big tetrimino a bit to win the level. Cool idea and nice to see an original puzzler!
Nice little game. The music was amazing :)
It was a lot harder than I expected, kept dying to the long jumps. Got there in the end!
Good stuff.
Thanks for all the comments! I have added a post-compo version with five more levels. Don't worry, you can also skip levels to avoid having to re-play previous ones :)
I also changed level 3, because it wasn't very good.
Thanks everyone for your comments! I have added a scoreboard (see link above) in case you want to get competitive...
Also fixed some bugs and added colours on the destinations in the develop version (thanks for the suggestion!)
Really nice entry. Puzzles that are intuitive to understand, yet hard to master. The levels gradually get harder. One bug held me up: one of the pieces disappeared!
Overall very good effort. I will come back and beat that last (?) level! (the sun dial one)
Awesome game, man. Music is top-notch, the razor sfx is amazing, and graphics are fitting and fun.
Quite hard to get all those pesky little bits of beard off (just like real life!) - although I managed to snag $680 from some customer!!
Also I quickshaved 17 customer in one playthrough :) Great fun game!
Cool idea. Tutorial was a nice addition and worked nicely. I kinda hoped the spear could be attacking up as well, to kill those nasty birds. In the end I was most successful with the axe, trying to get a hit in before moving slightly away. The animations look awesome!
Music was a bit repetitive, but good enough for a compo game!
Would be cool to have more enemy types and other challenges to make the weapon choice matter more, but more this is more an idea if you want to extend it - for a 48h hack this is already a lot of work! Good stuff!
Cool little game. The timer made it into a speed run challenge, which was interesting. I made it with 1.3 seconds left :)
I liked the transformation animation and the rabbit. Good work!
Fantastic graphics. Cool idea, and well executed. I think some of the signs were harder, but that's cool.
Would be cool if the glyphs were random for a bigger challenge or something like that.
Nice!
Cool take on the theme! Once I got the hang of it I started seeing patterns everywhere! I didn't feel the # shifts or time was too pressing - perhaps even too lenient as I think you can play for a looong time.
Nice to see an original puzzler!
Looks great, plays great, levels were good and progressively harder. It wasn't obvious from the start that you could only change into each shape once, but that was a nice gameplay feature.
Really enjoyed it.
Fantastic entry! The music is great and fits and build the mood. The enemies are varied and interesting. The shapeshifting almost seems unnecessary but gives you some badly needed sustain. Graphics is nice and controls are good, even tho I sometimes got slightly stuck in the trees.
Love the post-apoc theme! Will come back and find/kill the green boss later!
I think I got 24300 points on my best run!
sorry guys, wanted to play this but am getting the OOM error and don't have a windows box available. Will play when I do though!
Haha, good stuff. Everyone should start with the main menu :)
Very clean and neat presentation, and fitting music. I got flashbacks to reading these books when I was young(er), and this was no less evil. Had me laughing :)
Would be cool to see a longer story, hope you guys continue the series!
finally got around to playing you game. Nice job! Mechanics are great and I like that you can hold on to cards. Levels are time-consuming to make, so I understand there's only a few. Would be cool to add a "shoot" card and enemies :)
Nice graphics :) The cavemen seems very pensive. Good challenges and fitting music. Will have a look at the code - golang is cool!
SUPER HARD GAME! :)
I like the music and the story/set-up. However the physics are quite unpredictable and make carrying the king very hard (perhaps intentional). I got stuck in the 2nd uphill and couldn't move.
I like the triggered events tho, makes it possible to beat if you just retry enough:)
Nice game. Music fits and the amount of time per customer is perfect. I got to $600 or so before I lost. (And I didn't find out you could rotate stuff but didn't need it)
> The "cha-ching" sound was actually my bike bell.
haha this is great
good game. It's just too hard :)
I tried so many times to get to the flying/flakking stage but every time I get to impatient, get hit once and then chainstabbed until death. Sorry, too hard to finish!
also I played on kongregate but it didn't register my scores.
Beautiful little game! Love the darkness and the gun mechanic is pretty cool. A bit slow to get hard and I keep pressing E to exit when I didn't want to.
In terms of gameplay, there's not much reason for me to move around. Maybe introduce some monsters/events that forces you to move?
Overall nice game. Enjoyed it.
Thanks for the comments folks! Glad to hear that the game managed to scare!
nervous.composers: there is indeed an alternative ending...
Aw man, I FINALLY got myself to Stoneconf :) With 2 days to spare even. LOL @ business cavemen.
Cool story, interesting events (black bear I hate you) and nice level of challenge in the resources vs time tactical choice.
Also sounds and music fits very well. They remind me of Zelda2.
Overall cool stuff. Props for so much text!
Ah nice, something different. Love the music. The house is nicely designed and feels authentic. I like the stylished noir style, and had a lot of fun trying to figure out what happened here. Overall, very enjoyable and original!
My theory:
I think the two lovers (Sarah and Diana) were killed by Mr Burnwood who just realised that Diana purposely sold 1/4 of her share to help finance Sarah's company, who then did very well.
The bullets were fired from the kitchen, so either he snuck in via the window (but there's no broken glass) or he was invited into the home. Perhaps the picture of the lovers pushed him over the edge?
Ah nice game. The scrolling between screens is great not just because its retro but it makes each screen a "level". In classic fashion I cheated by jumping back and forwards between screens :) Getting onto bridges was sometimes a bit hard, perhaps make the char slightly smaller than the sprites? Tiny niggle, perhaps the challenge is in getting onto those bridges while being chased :)
Overall, good game. I got ALL the keys :)
Very polished game! Nice animations and love that you can speed it up! Will come back and finish this :)
Cool game. I like the range and melee weapon options, and the enemy placement means you can't just machine gun everything down (although I tried :p)
I can see this with more enemies and guns as a cool 3d version of gauntlet. All in all, good effort!
Cool little game. Fits the theme and provided some laughs along the way. Could have been bigger but I like how the choices in the game were done properly instead of just a quick oneliner. Good stuff!
Thus us fantastic; really enjoyed that. Cool story, excellent gameplay element and it works so well with the text adventure and the layout. Bravo! Would travel again!
Interesting game. I like the idea of obtaining different abilities! Esp once you get the hammer it gets interesting. I like the upgrades, but they don't seem to make a difference?
I think I had found almost all the seeds, but then I think I upgraded the bow from gold back to standard, and it crashed with:
FATAL ERROR in
action number 1
of Step Eventobj_parrow
for object obj_slime_blue:
Variable <unknown_object>.<unknown variable>(100010, -2147483648) not set before reading it.
at gml_Object_obj_slime_blue_Collision_4
Cool idea. Would be fun to have other objects to experiment with!
I got a bit better after a few tries, but its hard to anticipate exactly where you'll be when!
Great "one room" game. I didn't remember the reload button at first so thought it was super hard. I mean, the game gets harder, but you need more than 20 ammo to get by even the 2nd level :)
Cool idea with the spawners and the exploders! Pretty good controls, I found some corners where I could (as I hoped) hide and fire at the incoming enemy hordes :)
Good fun!
Awesomely moody game with a heavy theme. I liked the use of a the traditional JRPG overworld gameplay with the memory holes. The game kept going on when I thought I'd completed it!
Very nice graphics. I assumed the tiles were the "basic assets" you mentioned, if not that is super impressive. Really enjoyed the mix of JRPG tiles and handdrawn art.
I'm pretty sure I got the sad ending. I might be convinced to try again, but it feels like it's a bit too much to replay.
Overall great effort!
Fantastic mood! Really scary at times (esp. with headphones). Was interesting to figure out how to eventually get to 100% memory (with some help). Simple yet good gameplay.
Great take on the theme - I felt trapped in that room.
I had a lot of fun helping out with the voice acting, and it was great to hear it used in such an atmospheric game! Good job!
Interesting! I didn't feel like I heard a big difference based on how close I was to others. Was cool to hear the various sounds come together, though!
This is super!
Humour, puzzles, references to classic games and comedy, an interesting story, free-form exploration, characters, great dialogue and amazing pixel 3D! Dude! I thought just making a point and click game would be too hard!
All my hats are off. This is amazing. It has a cool mood and is actually very funny. I love the skeletons. It even has a game within the game!!
You are winnar. Very well done, Knig!
euske this is an insane game! Elevators in japan must be very different.
I had a lot of fun killing bugs and birds and whatnot that kept eating the wrong button that came rolling (what is this). And sometimes the client would pick the wrong button too! Crank!
Great graphics and music and amazing idea for the theme. I love this elevator, I want one!
Very moody stuff. In terms of the theme I think you're spot on. Would be fun to make it an events-based story (not necessarily a game) but perhaps there wasn't time. Randomly I made something similar for a 1hgj: http://dollarone.games/games/1hgj73/
Really like the intro and I think the graphics and music work really well!
This is a tense game! I think I got all the bad endings but I can't manage to win.
I think this is a great interpretation of the theme. Just you in a room with extremely limited input and output, yet you can essentially destroy the whole world ...
The graphics are excellent and the telematics text is fantastic.
Really good work. I need to find out how to get the good ending :)
Evil stuff! I wish there was some dark and evil music to go with it!
The gameplay is good but it was quite easy to defend against the hordes, even at the last levels. The walking animation is great, as is the portal! Good work!
Thanks for comments, folks!
Sean, it is turn-based, only with very short turns! After chatting with rnlf I realise what I'm missing is client-side prediction, e.g. move on the client (if valid) even if the server hasn't accepted it yet - this would have solved the walking into lava issue, which I agree is super annoying.
The issue with multiplayer games for LD is that people are highly unlikely to play at the same time, hence I added a very basic AI so it still works. The AI should have been a lot better (and atleast avoid the lava) but I ran out of time.
In terms of feedback on attack, you will hear a sword-on-sword sound if you miss, and an "ouch" sound if you hit. I agree that an animation or atleast some kind of visual feedback would have helped.
I'm not sure I agree with you mirta000; I think slamming yourself into your opponent is the best form of attack :D
I am not a good MD.
Although I do have a nice office with lots of water coolers and plenty of tables!
This was a cool and fun simulator. Would be great to have a tutorial and maybe some "missions", but that might come in the post-LD version!
Great graphics and relaxing music! Good work!
Great take on the theme. Love the whistling and the sound effects. Interesting concept, the only thing I'd have changed is to give the player a second chance if the first hit is a supporting wall as it's frustrating to lose all your hard-earned cash on an accidental hammer to the wrong wall.
I'm getting quite good at this - I managed to get just over 2 million in the end. Maybe I should buy a hammer, hmm?
Very nice game. Easy to learn but you get better as you play. Cool music and clear graphics. And a great take on the theme.
I only played 2p but imagine 4 would be mayhem :) And a lot of fun!
Good stuff!
Excellent idea! I always wondered how bags of holding work! I am now a pretty proficient bag of holding demon.
Got killed by another knight at level 6.4 - ran out of potions. Might give it another guy, this game makes inventory management fun!
Potential future work - when you get killed the game continues with a new master?
@eli-delventhal thanks so much for playing :D I didn't really expect anyone to do so! and thanks for the feedback, I agree that it can feel like you're playing blind, at the moment it's really more to spot people's bluffing tendencies over multiple games.
fantastic game! or 10 games, I should say. All nice and clear graphics, gameplay and music! Great stuff. I think snake was hardest, but still was fun. The road crossing game looks amazing :D
The transitions and general mood of the game is really good. I don't know how you had time to add animation to Sara cat when she's scared in addition to implementing 10 (!) games. If I had a hat I'd take it off. Good work!
Nice game! Graphics were neat, animation great, and the idea of the game is cool. Would have been good to have controls instructions in-game, but for a LD-game, who cares :)
The controls were kind of weird - mainly the fact that if you sprint you can't jump. Also some obstacles kind of require you to prepare before you see them (if you are running) - maybe this is intentional though, to make people remember the level?
Levels were varied and with an increasing difficulty, although getting all the coins kind of seems impossible in the last level?
all in all, a nice game!
Cool idea! I would have liked to see the daytime events fleshed out a bit more, maybe try to find out abit more about myself etc. I get what the nightmare sequence is doing, but it was a bit repetitive.
Nice art! And the music fitted well. Good job!
Very nice! :) I mean, building bridges is fine but THAT SNAKE GAME WOW! So good. Best snake games since snake2.
Oh and the coding stuff was cool too ;)
Nice game!
I like the progression of abilities with the power-ups. I was certainly interesting in the beginning without even being able to jump! I really liked the level design as you see where you might go later after you've found new power-ups. However, at the end it seems you don't actually need all the power-ups? I would have changed this but I assume you ran out of time?
Anyway, enjoyed playing that. Some sounds and music would have been good. But a nice metroidvania as it is!
This is a very polished game! The animations, the graphics, the "rules" of the game, all very well made and thought out!
You even have an excellent tutorial! kudos!
The lifts make the game - when I realised they can be used to carry things, as normal blocks and as lifts, I had an "aha!" moment. You could easily make a full-blown puzzle game out of this, with some more puzzle elements.
Very good stuff - especially for a compo game!
thanks for comments, folks! @umsingelopugmanco: I used GIMP for graphics:) the avatars were real tin figures that I photographed into life.
will play some games now
Excellent take on the theme and a great idea in itself. Didn't get to play with a swarm of others, but I can imagine the chaos. Cool puzzles and interesting gimmick with the two types of players. Potentially slightly annoying to be a hero if you can't do anything to stop the birds? I guess it just adds complexity to the challenge!
Awesome work in a short space of time.
Nice music and mood and feel. The game gets harder as you get more stuff! I found it hard even on level 3. I like that you keep the empty boxes, makes it more of a management game. Good game!
Hey, nice little game. Quite hard and interesting to find the balance between hiring new guards and making sure you still earn some money. I couldn't quite get the balance right - some thief always managed to steal something which completely screwed up my plan. I got to quarter 18 with 187 bandits stopped.
good job!
Nice idea! starts off EASY then gets harder before it's suddenly SUPER HARD. Alyways seem to fail around the ~1000 point mark. I like that you only get points if you hit the ball properly - makes it more skill-based.
The music was a bit repetitive but the controls were good!
thanks for comments, folks! and thanks for the link, @saoi-games :)
@aurel300 yeah that was what I tried for the first time this jam!
Nice idea @wan - I was thinking of Tabletop Simulator but this looks good. May check it out at some point!
excellent title font!
crazy game! I was a bit overwhelmed over the sheer amount of doggies once I had cleared the tutorial! My grappling hook keeps sending me to the Smog monster, so I am unable to win. But hey, I saved some doggies at least!
Short and sweet! I like the idea. More content please! I need to know what's up with this hat!
Hey folks, thanks for feedback! @hypp - sounds like a bug :/ @kaisean-games : I wanted to add animations and sound effects - maybe in a post-compo version!
It depends - lasers are countered by shields and rockets are countered by flares.
Thanks everyone for feedback! Much appreciated!
@taophoenix : It's actually a shared 9-card deck!
You could argue that lasers are countered by shield rechargers, so I don't think one is better than the other.
@mrjoshuamclean : thanks for the link! You are spot on with the inspired-by-FTL guess :)
Nice game! It's quite polished, the UI is good and you have a tutorial before the whole thing kicks off. The cards are easy to understand, and the only weird thing (for me) was that I am still alive with 0 hearts.
The gameplay is solid; I can beat the first two easily but Larry is a big challenge! If I wait he will combo me and/or heal, and I don't have enough cards to take him down in a single round. Challenging!
I like how you added some deckbuilding to the game as well. Solid effort!
Cool game! I like the puzzle aspect of it, and it's nice to have the "how do did compared to others" at the end of each level. The music is great! Sound effects work well as well. I agree with @yngvarr on teleportation being OP - but maybe that's fine as long as its designed into the game. Some of the later levels where quite tricky, but made sense once I figured them out - good design!
Very cool game. A lot of work done here, and it could easily be extended to a bigger game! I like the open board with zones that give out different cards. I didn't really end up focussing too much on the cards, since it was fairly straight-forward to find the item and finish the quest. But the ground-work is there. And the music is excellent!
Very cool idea and cool take on the theme! I wish there was more to it than just "staying in chat" tho. Maybe some kind of bot interaction to make it more active? The various purchases are quite expensive, so it's a game optimised for idling really.
I do like the collaborative side of this - get more people to join in order to survive! Interesting stuff.
Cool game! I immediately lost two of my fleets but managed to survive the initial battles with the last and upgraded to a winning combo. After that it was just a cruise to shoot down everyone and conquer the galaxy.
I like the randomly generated maps. I didn't take advantage of the nebula, but that's a cool idea. I wish you could micromanage the battles, and that there was a way to create a new fleet. Also, if there's no risk of losing your planets (or to own planets), that limits the gameplay.
Overall very good entry in 72h. I enjoyed it.
Cool idea! I found the controls pretty hard, maybe a key for attack instead of the mouse button would have helped - and as others have pointed out, quicker attack animations, being able to cancel attacks, and some feedback about whether you've hit or not.
With some changes this could be a fun little game :)
thanks for the feedback, folks! The SSL cert has been renewed. I agree that background music would have been nice, but it would need to be good enough not to become annoying :)
Cool and super hard game! I managed a round eventually but MAN - so many opportunities to fail! I like that the splattered eggs remain, and the sound effects are lovely.
I can't understand how anyone can do a lap in <30 seconds - that's super impressive.
Cool stuff. How did you find using unity over turtlebrains?
Love this. Simple and elegant. Platforming but not really.
Enjoyed the different solutions and the options available to you. Music and art is spot on. If anything I just want more levels :)
Fantastic little entry.
Cool little game. It's basically impossible to keep a nice, full garden. I enjoyed trying out different tactics, but those poopers will shit on your tactics every time.
It was very intuitive to play but at the same time hard to "get good at". Not sure why you have two different scores? I scored 16 / 64 in my best run.
I also enjoyed the animations and sound effects! Good work :)
Very cool game! I enjoyed the ramp-up in difficulty and the constant juggling in the later levels. Level 10 was HARD! Ended up camping out and taking down those pesky robots one by one. Nice ending and cool that you made one!
I think some of the robots could be slightly more affected by your shots; maybe that would have made it too easy but some of them just seem to ignore my constant barrage of firepower. I like the variation in enemies, and the mix between platforming and tactical shooting!
Excellent entry.
Hey. Cool little platformer. It was quite challenging to aim while moving, especially since the jumping seems different at different levels? My main gripe was the camera - if I'm climbing it is impossible to look "below" and thus sometimes I don't know where I'm jumping. Maybe make the camera slightly more in the middle, vertically speaking? There's a really good video about how Super Mario implements camera movement btw, look it up.
The various levels introduced different things, which was cool. I tried different tactics, like camping or just going for it at top speed, and both worked on some levels. The last one was HARD but mainly because of the limited vision and also because the monsters' hit boxes are quite small (and your sword gets blocked by the platforms).
One final thing, I found the "press jump constantly to jump through platform" not so great - better to add a bit of height in the jump or design the levels differently so you can jump from one to another.
cheers
Nice little game!
I liked the gradual build up from cheap flowers to selling a bouquets consisting of five roses. I enjoyed trying out combos, although there doesn't seem to be any difference to selling a combination of flowers rather than just multiples of the same type.
I would have liked some more challenge - there was nothing really risky here, I can't go bankrupt and I can't make a "wrong" bouquet. I think the game could easily be extended to have a more win/lose gameplay aspect by introducing customers with specific wants and different reactions to bouquet combos.
I enjoyed the graphics and the music fitted well. Good work!
Hey, nice game you got there! At first it was pretty hard, but I learnt what to burn and what to ignore (why do you hate guitars so much) and eventually beat the hard level!
Graphics and music is good, the different size torch for the different levels make a whole lot difference, and I like how the different things have a separate effect on the fire. It wasn't completely clear when new items would appear, but eventually I started burning shoes just to get some new ones. Tactics, innit.
Quite enjoyed that - easy to understand but took a while to beat hard. Well done.
which kill counter? do you mean the "wanted" level? it's not a 1-1 mapping (1 kill is 1 star, 3 kills is 2 stars etc)
I have seen the two other bugs though - might have a look but I thought it was already long overdue to release a "proper" version!
thanks for comments!
Nice. I like the defend/grow idea. The sounds are bananas. I suck at shmups so I dunno if there was a boss or something like that.
very cool game! I joined too late and SIR ALFRED rules eternally. Great little minigames although I would suggest you don't penalise people for failing them. That shit is harsh :)
I guess it would be superhard to balance it to make it less easy to dominate. Maybe each battle is between 5 or 10 tombas and not all? That way people could hope to avoid SIR ALFRED and get some wins themselves.
cool game! Probably the most immersive clicker I've played :)
I like the progression of the income and ultimately being able to rely on the auto-generated income. The poems are great to listen to while progressing and adds a lot of atmosphere. Great work!
Cool idea! I like the switching between perspectives. Perhaps it would be more challenging if the game was realtime even in the FPS view. The challenges were interesting, not too hard but took a bit of testing to understand. The sound is fine and the primitives work for a "prototype" game. Good work!
Nice game! I like the idea, reminds me of lower league games...
