I like it. Fun little puzzle game. Some weirdness with the hit areas, but nothing that made it un-playable. I probably would have preferred space bar or another key to jump as the up arrow with a l/r arrow is a little cramped.
good animations make your character!
Great animations! And a nice concept too, but I couldn't get pass the third level with five stones, I wasn't able to stack them in the way to jump over the hole :(
Thanks for the great feedback so far!
I just made a quick change to allow SPACE for jumping as an alternative to UP.
As for the physics, the rocks still have rectangular hit boxes as I had no time to make them round ;-)
The puzzle in level three is a result from these physics, just try it a couple of times (use F2), you will get the hang of it :)
pretty fun, a bit hard though. love the expressions! 4.5/5
Finished the game. Loved the animations, music, art! Would have preferred tighter collisions and mechanics though :)
Good job ! It was fun i finished your game :p
Fun game, the physics for the rocks should be a bit better thought I don't really know if I manage to solve the puzzles the good way or I just cheated my way trough. Good animation and music. Love it.
Nice! almost get stucked in one level (i though that i could grad the rock) but then i figured out xD good job! and i enjoyed the music haha made me dance a little :P
Great job!
It's wonderfully simple and has good music too.
Nice one :D simple, cool music, funny animations of the player :D Good job
Download link seems broken? Or is it only me?
@yotam180 I just checked the link, it took a while but then the download started. Maybe the FTP server is a little slow at the moment.
Awesome! Not very good graphics (apart from facial expressions), music, sounds.. But level design is awesome.:)
Finished the game :D
Fun little game. Nice animations and I really liked the physics of the large boulders - they felt really weighty as the character leaned into them.
It would have been good to have some context for why the magic portals existed in such a prehistoric world. Also, a background would really elevate the overall graphics.
Good job!
Hero's sprites are funny. Stuck at Level 3
@TheLaw just try a little harder, I am sure you can do it without any help :)
Very cool game! Loved the graphics (especially the face of the character xD)
The level design is quite straightforward, so a few other elements, apart from the rocks, would have been great, too!
Still, you did a decent job, and it was a good take on the theme, too. The music was also really cool, with the bongo drum loop :)
Well done!
Good job! It's simple and works perfectly well! Pushing stones is a bit too slow, though. I also liked the music, it fits very well with the game!
Music is nice and the puzzles are pretty good. Wish there were more levels though. The jump animation is cool!
Drawings with character. Very hilarious. The cheerful music. Very funny happened. The learning curve is well designed.
simplr but funny, i like the facial expressionsa
I LOOOOOOOVE the music ! The concept is very cool and the drawing are funny !
I couldn't go far as the 3r (?) level where you have 5 or + rocks to push in a big hole x)
Cool game , I have very fun when i play :D good job
It's written on GO
So 10/10. congrats :)
The game is nice, art make me laught and funny. Good job!
Nice entry!
Very funny game, the puzzles are very tricky though. I loved the music :D
Thank you all for your great feedback so far, this is awesome.
Since many have asked about Level 3, here is a little hint (spoiler alert?) : you can stack the rocks ;)
I was able to finish your game , but unfortunately it's really short game :< Also I really like soundtrack and graphic :D
I like the game it is funny and has good mechanisms. However, it is a bit short (2 min to finish it) so some extra levels would have been good. Otherwise, the physic is good, controls easy and the graphismes are nice :D
As it is coding from scratch, it is very good to achieve that result so quickly, well done !
@RttStudio thanks for the compliments.
I created the game mechanics first and the rocks still have rectangular hitboxes which is why their physics are not very accurate. However, I created the maps after the fact and with the mechanics in mind. I tried to make sure that the player knows what is possible and what is not and the way you solved the puzzles is the way I intended, I am pretty sure :)
Great interpretation of the theme, technology can't get more ancient than this :). Like the animations and the controls feel solid. The puzzles are a bit simple but all in all well done!
Love this game! It is fun and simple. I hope you will make more levels for this. Well done.
I'm not entirely sure what to think of this.
Not-bad looking graphics, simple mechanics, which I didn't think was too much fun, and a couple of levels mostly consisting of pushing enough rocks into the pit so you can jump through... with an occasional twist :)
It's okay, but nothing special.
But, and it's a HUGE BUT - finally a game written in Go! I simply love the language, so you got my mad respect for that alone.
@mvasko2 Thanks, I also really love the Go language, it brought back the fun in programming for me a couple of years back. That is why I created a number of libraries to help create games in Go.
Most importantly, I created wrappers for Direct3D9 and a sound mixer using DirectAudio8. You can 'go get' them without any dependencies except a C compiler.
You can check out my github account if you are interested in using Go for your games as well: https://www.github.com/gonutz
@gonutz I'm intrigued, I'll be sure to take a look as soon as I gather some time! I've actually made a Go game framework myself, but I haven't published it anywhere (yet), since I haven't been overly happy with it. It's currently gathering dust, but I hope I will be able to revive it someday.
Anyway, sorry for the offtopic, on with the comments :)
I like the primitive caveman animations:)
Fun to play for a little bit, even if it's not particularly sophisticated or long. I particularly liked the facial expressions. At the same time I feel the graphics were a little inconsistent; especially the portal effect looked a bit off against the clear-bordered cartoony caveman. The audio worked pretty well.
(gotta admit, though, the rectangular hitboxes were looking pretty weird on these rocks, with all that floating around and such ^^')
Nice game! Pretty cool getting it going in Go.
Are the portal things supposed to be like Stargates or something? Or more of a level transition point don't question it kind of thing :)
@Garrett Hoofman yes those are gates to the stars (R) that might have been inspired by a TV show... ;)
Small but nicely realised game.
I liked the style of the caveman and the music. But envirnments were out of aesthetic.
It was a bit long to push rocks and physics laws weren't really here.
Walking cycle can be improved a little.
Good work.
Nice graphics :) The cavemen seems very pensive. Good challenges and fitting music. Will have a look at the code - golang is cool!
Didn't know it's possible to make games in Go... Nutz! ;)
Nice. I liked the use of the game's collision limitations in the level designs, and the music was a good fit. I would've liked a few more levels actually.
