Found it very amusing and fun! Thanks
nice background art
puzzle is good.
Respect! Tight animation and awesome art direction. Great fun too!
Interesting application of concept. I liked the fact that you had to shift the environment, instead of your avatar.
not sure what was the goal here but limited / unlimited web seems like an interesting concept!
Great effort but too buggy.
Windows please? Looks intriguing
Interesting art style and very upbeat music. Love it!
I finished it! Absolutely amazing game with tons of polish. I love the pixel graphics and the effects when you slash an enemy. There's really nothing I can constructively criticize about the game, except maybe add a story to hook the player into knowing more about the main character.
Great game! Really well done.
Had some problems with the aeroplane mode though, kinda hard to control.
Very challenging puzzles. Great fun though :)
Seriously Awesome!!
Very rewarding to complete this game. Great job!
Splitting is a good idea. Maybe can make the pieces all come together at a certain checkpoint. if not it just takes too long for all the pieces to travel.
Its an interesting concept, can be expanded such that the shape of the ship will affect the combat and characteristics of the ship. Ship building a little bit slow, and enemies are quite hard to find.
Loved how the game progressed. With more time I think this would be a great indie game:)
Homage to asteroids :) great work!
Great graphics and gameplay!
Cool and unique:)
I enjoyed it alot! Visually stunning however it didn't shine conceptually...pleasure to play:)
Nice music and graphics! I really liked it.
Would be nice if there was feedback when I missed a beat, didn't seem to matter whether I missed a beat or not besides the score.
Think with more time and polish you potebtially created a really good indie game...Great work!
Get it fixed. I would like to play it soon:)
I played the v1.01. It's a fairly standard platformer, collecting various modes giving different abilities as the 'shift' mechanic. I think its a good first attempt!
I wished I could have spent time on it, I only got as far as after the cannons before moving on, it was feeling slightly tedious after a few minutes.
I think with some polish, sound, and story, there might be a compelling hook for the player to keep playing.
One thing I would change is assigning 'Up' to Jump. Between shifting, action, and jump, the controls were slightly hard to grasp for me.
Hi All, thanks for the great feedback. It is our first project on LD and we are glad that you guys liked it!
We'll do better in the next LD!
Very immersive experience. Great audio graphics was on point:) one of the better games I've played so far
Omg!! I enjoyed it soooo much! Thanks!
Looks amazing and a load of fun! Nice work!
Loved the sprite art! But gameplay was a little hard, and I got stuck outside the arena after the first boss (Empusa?)
Wow, that was one of the most unique amazing experiences I've ever had, even outside of this game jam of any game I've played. I'd really like to see more works from you!
Is it possible to compile as a single executable, without needing an installer?
I loved the atmosphere, but couldn't get past the beginning though..
(spoilers) I got to the yard and 'looked', and saw the generator, but couldn't figure out the verb to use it. 'start / use / go to generator' didn't work...
I've played a number of old text adventure games, so I was expecting to be able to check my 'i'nventory, e'x'amine items, 'l'ook, nsew movement, take, drop, etc.. Maybe it could be added to a next version :)
Nice game! Won twice, would love to see more games using this engine.
An interesting concept, I won twice.
The mechanics are a little difficult to grasp in the beginning though, and one game I got stuck, and clicking restart didn't do anything, but other than that I like it =)
I liked the atmosphere! The choice colours and music helped.
Gameplay wise, it started to get slightly monotonous after two levels. Would love to see more content!
I loved how close your game matched the theme! Gameplay mechanics was creative, but kinda hard. I got <30% most of the time. I also had a javascript exception once, running on Firefox. But otherwise, good job!
I got to the 3rd stage, then an exception occurred and the game hanged =(
Is it possible to start a game single player? Can't seem to get a game running if I'm alone
Amazing animation!
I loved the art and ragdoll animations
Nice art and environment with Lost Vikings style gameplay! Unfortunately didn't get very far, but would love to see a follow up effort!
Finished the game. Loved the animations, music, art! Would have preferred tighter collisions and mechanics though :)
I got >20 by hugging the corner ;)
One of the few games I played to completion. I really liked the puzzles! Not sure how to get the 'J' though, I just kept trying till I got it. Also had minor clicking issues on the puzzle where you have to rearrange the pieces. Some of the puzzle pieces got 'stuck' in its slot, and I had to move my mouse around till I found the clicking handle.
Nice, though the controls are a little hard to get used to.
My ending was a little dark :<
I loved the graphics, music and atmosphere!
The beginning looks promising! Unfortunately couldn't get past the starting corridor, is there more to see...?
Fun and cute little game =)
I liked the environment and models in the starting area. Unfortunately, I couldn't get past the alien shaft in the beginning =( I tried jumping on the pipes, but couldn't seem to jump high enough.
I loved the game! Mechanics and graphics were tight. Unfortunately I couldn't finish, only got to the 4th or 5th stage twice. Checkpoint system would be nice, I missed a few jumps and ending up next to spikes, and had to restart from level one. That was a little too punishing IMO.
I died in wave 3 =( Hilarious concept though! Has a Serious Sam vibe
I liked the writing, although I got stuck in the cave, couldn't find a torch. Would have preferred all interactable verbs/nouns to be highlighted.
Interesting concept, I think the idea has a lot of potential
I loved the writing! But the gameplay was a little too confusing for me. I tried, but it was pretty hard to get into.
Nice and simple concept which works! I only got past the first day though, I found it a little too difficult.
I love the aesthetic! It also feels very polished, and was overall a very enjoyable game.
Great game! I found all 5 friends and finished the game (which says alot, since I don't spend more than 10 minutes per entry on average).
Puzzles were well designed, core mechanics fit the theme very well. Few comments:
- Last puzzle was frustratingly hard
- Was stuck for awhile at one jump where I had to jump vertically past a horizontal block which would crush you. It's the one where the gearteeth are missing in the middle section. I had to redo the jump many times.
- Not a fan of puzzle games which open up into a huge open area where there are multiple paths to explore, but that's just my preference. It suggests that I have to backtrack alot to explore the other paths if I miss something.
I'm sorry, I'm not sure how to play this game..?
Not sure what I should be doing, or how to interact with objects. Some instructions / readme / tutorial would be nice. Thanks!
Nice game! I loved the mechanics and graphics. I played for three generations. Sometimes the RNG can be pretty unforgiving though.
Best part of the game is getting the boat to sink, and watching it sink ;)
Short and sweet! I like how the Captain goes exploring an unknown cave in just a singlet and camo pants. Wondering if there's an alternative ending...
Nice concept, although I'd love an option to speed up the game
Good job! I liked the art and spaceship names.
Loved the aesthetic. Even harder than QWOP haha
Nice game! Had a little difficulty in the beginning though, trying to kill the knights with a pitchfork.
I love the graphics, nice first try.
Would love to see more content, has the potential to go into mid game and end game.
Hm I can't seem to get past the title screen. Is that where it's supposed to be broken?
I like the pixel art and retro music on the title screen though =)
I really like the graphics! But had quite a few issues with the gameplay and movement of the character. Got stuck a few times, and sometimes the game wasn't responsive :(
Nice atmosphere, had some fun exploring the red desert. After the first structure I think I got knocked below the level though =(
I can't access the download, is the link down?
Ok I've managed to download the game! But I open it and it seems to be gamepad only, which sadly I don't have :( Is there a keyboard / mouse version? Screenshot looks good btw
beautifully done. however, might want to increase the speed when the room gets big.
the controls is very tough! overall quite funny and interesting idea.
Graphics and music fits well with the mood. At first I was stuck in the first two rooms moving back and forth but then i figured out :D. I think there is a story behind it but i couldn't quite understand. there is potential to explore on the meaning of the room transitions.
really nice funny game. very good work adding the humor and description on death. Though simple in idea, the execution was good and each challenge was nicely done in progressive difficulty.
Good effort! Interesting concept and nice work for dialogue, story and message at the end. If you would further develop the game, the board gameplay can be refined, the room's decorations can be trophies you won in tournaments etc to give you income. There is good potential.
Good puzzles of the right length, very innovative. Great use of the theme. Even randomly choosing the sequence is fun just to 'try it out'.
Would like to have some death animation to fit the apocalyptic theme and emphasis on the 'sacrifice' part.
Good puzzle element, the mechanic was easy to grasp. Nice effort for the ending. The length of the game feels right for a LD entry. Would appreciate if there were music or sound effects to help on the atmosphere.
wow such a dark ending. Dont give up making games!
the story is well written for a serious topic without trivialising it. good job!
nice game, innovative mechanic.
good execution, however room is too big and took a long time to find the key. would be better if able to shoot all directions. i did not take any damage from the enemies however. Pressing E should drop current item to pick up the new weapon.
personally i felt that the music choice was a little strange.
I'm quite confused how to play. Reading your instructions, there might be too many things you are trying to implement in such a short time, would prefer if it is more focused.
nice concept and music, graphics are simple yet adequate. I had to open the readme to play the game, it would be preferred if it is integrated with the to do list.
there are some bugs where the jump button of the minigame doesnt work.
nice attempt on the your first ludum dare! I was having fun exploring, the transition of the 2 views was pretty smart, especially the mouse part. Though i got stuck and couldnt complete. I use GM studio myself, and i love to make this kind of games.
some comments for your next LD:
- Reading your comments on your lofty goals, those are nice to have but for 72 hours its better to just focus on one mechanic.
- Spend some time to polish the game, this will help on receiving better feedback.
- add some music or sound effects as it greatly helps set the tone and mood.
- intro: simple and effective (we did something similar myself for this jam)
- good job!
Very unique take on the theme! It's also one of the cutest games I've ever seen in an LD.
I tried to complete it a few times, but I kept losing my minions and had to backtrack for them, and after finding them they kept walking into walls and didn't latch back onto me.
I beat the game, it's not too hard, pretty neat concept! I wonder what happens if all your trolls die from monsters in the mines. As previously mentioned, the help screen was abit much at first, but the gameplay is actually really simple to pickup. Good job!
I wasn't sure what the egg laying was for, sometimes I got really large chicks, but mostly tiny ones which evolved to normal sized chicks. Sitting longer didn't seem to spawn the large version, so I just tapped down and got tiny chicks which eventually grew larger. Jumping seems to fire a chick when it's above your head, although walking it into comets worked as well. I did manage to get to the end (Duckdillion) in one or two tries, even though I wasn't sure what I was doing. Overall I really loved the aesthetic and idea, but I think the gameplay could've been explained a little better. Good effort!
This game was so well designed... Definitely the standout for me so far! Even though the gameplay was simple, the concept was innovative, and almost all major aspects for a polished game were in there: gameplay, level design, puzzles, audio, pixel art, simple AI, etc.. Everything was pretty much perfect! (although I only beat the game with 8/15 coins)
It's a really good game, and I wished that I could have played more of it, but I can't seem to get past a couple of days. The deliveries almost always stop after three shipments and I die rapidly. Maybe I built something I wasn't supposed to, but when I do nothing after the tutorial and keep ordering food and water, it lasts for days before the shipments stop.
I don't see this as a game, but as an experience, and a very enjoyable one. I thought it was very relaxing, and I can see myself simply exploring the world as a bee. I think I would've liked it more if the environment was an open meadow with flowers and natural sunlight.
Very unique game, it's rare to see action RTS hybrids during an LD. I did find it difficult to aim with the acid though, wasn't sure if I had to hit multiple times or I was missing. Other than that, great game!
I loved the art and animations, and gameplay was fun. But what kept me playing was the music, it was *REALLY* good.
Hm not sure if I missed something, I see a cube that slowly rotates clockwise, mashing WSAD spacebar doesn't seem to be doing anything...
I thought the puzzles were well designed, and there's definitely room to expand with more levels / mechanics. Gameplay wise, I would've loved an undo or restart button, and some way to speed up the rotation. Otherwise, great job!
It's a really cute game! Even though there's almost no dialogue or story, the experience made me empathize with the poor giant as he stomped his way through the city on his way to work, breaking everything along the way.
I liked the detective aspect of figuring out how you died. The first few answers were pretty easy, and I managed to guess the last answer. The only issue I had was finding Satan, which I only figured out because of a previous poster (it's the dripping tongue near the start). Otherwise, great game!
I tried a couple of times to beat the game, but it's a little too hard for me. But from what I saw of the beginning, it looks promising! Reminds me of Wanderers of Ys III on SNES.
I actually found the game slightly challenging rather than calming, trying to fill up my satisfaction bar while driving away the flies, keeping the repellent topped up, keeping the teapot full, etc.. I beat the game, it's not too hard, really neat concept!
Thanks for comments guys! We've made some bugfixes for the ending.
Great fit for theme, the effects and messed up controls really made it 'worse'.
nice entry! fits the theme. though you can jump mid air, not sureif that is intended.
nice fit to there, interesting concept.
would prefer if the minimap doesnt show the carrots so you got to really try hard to find them!
real interesting take! though i was fired
Thanks for the comments! Apologies for the repeating dialogue system, we were out of time to finish all the features. The intention was, to have more 'difficult and challenging' dialogue options at the start, however when you and the lady have 'more drinks' things pick up a lot faster... previously 'failed attempts' would have new dialogue options. Obviously at the drunken state when everything is a blur you don't think before you speak (based on actual user experience). There is only 1 ending (supposed to have more ><) but multiple ways to approach.
great game and the best part is when it ends.. haha! good job
nice game which fits the theme, only a little small.
nice art, ambience, point and click gmae. however some difficulty in selecting the clues.
cool concept, had difficulty getting some wall jumps
nice farming game, reminds me of my farming days in stardew valley. Some issues with the menu system if i walk too near and trigger accidentally.
its a nice take on the particular R&M episode. however it will be a shame if the assets are taken elsewhere as mentioned by others
fun game, easy to understand and pick up, quite enjoyable. Would prefer more consistency in the sprite sizes.
funny game, good concept and fits the theme.
fun little game with cute graphics
Its a nice game, fits with the theme well. However i think there are too many variable for the player to think about, i.e currency/exchange rate. i think just tackling mass / energy will make the game interesting, perhaps the players have to collect some energy powerups to replenish. Good job for 1st compo!
One issue I had was lack of save. I accidentally closed the game, and had to start over when I restarted :(
But fix this issue, add a few mechanics, story, some polish, and I'd absolutely buy it if it were a Steam game.
By the way, are there any easter eggs on the final screen? I keep trying to get the < in the <3 :p
capture_001_05092018_092108.jpg
I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do, but the game was so silly that I just laughed out loud and kept playing it over and over. Great job!
I finally beat the game! Wasn't easy, but wasn't too hard either, a nice level of challenge for an LD entry. The mechanic is very innovative. Are there any easter eggs on the final screen by the way? After those gruelling levels I didn't bother collecting every gem on the credits screen :p
Sunk 6 ships! It's a great game. Wasn't sure if I saw right, but did I see a Total Recall easter egg?
@nam-nguyen Sure! Well, you actually don't need to combine anything with the car at any point. You also don't need the examine or use icon, they're only for flavour. You only need the combine icon to proceed. For starters, you could try the Hammer + Dress, or Dildo + Corpse.
Objectively, there not a lot to like about this game. Lack of BGM/SFX, goofy graphics, seemingly poor gameplay... But I played... and I kept playing and playing, and I'm not sure why, but there's something about this game that kept me hooked. I'm giving this a great score, because I don't know how but this entry kept me playing the longest.
capture_001_05092018_025057.jpg
I knew I was in for a treat when I saw it was the same team that made Armless Kairo. I only wished there were more! It's very polished, if I were to nitpick, the collisions could use abit of tightening. Otherwise, great job!
Great art, and I loved the message! The music was creepy, and I felt it fit the mood perfectly.
I got 112 boxes solo, it's tough! I played WebGL, but only gripe is the controls could use abit of tighening, other than that, great game!
I feel there's a fair amount of randomness that comes with the encounters, sometimes I get lucky and get good drops and easy encounters, other times I find I can barely beat the first few stages. The concept is great, although I didn't really like the WSAD controls. Graphics were amazing! One of the best I've seen this LD. Good job!
A very unique game, I got stuck at one of the later levels though. I feel the jumping could use some work, but the audio, visuals, and mood were awesome!
0:28 seconds! It's simple, it works, and it's fun. Nothing more you could ask for from an LD entry! I only wish the jumping were a little tighter, seemed abit floaty at times, but otherwise good job!
Beat the game! The only issue I have is the collisions for the floaters, I lost a few promising runs cause my bullet didn't clip them. Other than that, I loved the retro aesthetic and the music!
Loved the concept, definitely could use some tuning to give more allowance to the player instead of near frame perfect jumps.
I beat the level where the level scrolls upwards, and the game closed abruptly. Is it the end? Would love to see more levels! :)
Love the music! Took me a while, but I finally figured it out and survived till end game.
Like the graphics and gameplay! Would've liked a short tutorial to explain some of the mechanics at the beginning, but I understood most of it soon enough. Still not sure what Last Resort is. Would've loved a jump button too, to jump over monsters and pits. Otherwise, great entry!
I love what you were going for, unfortunately I didn't really know what to do after the first couple of days. There wasn't enough space to build anything, and I wasn't sure how to increase the amount of max space I had. I tried a couple times, varying my build each time, but I couldn't really understand how to proceed. Perhaps a tutorial/walkthrough?
Awesome game! I beat the game, it's short and sweet, and not too hard. For a post jam version, I'd love to hear some music. Also, I think it would be nice if the mechanics of the bombs were more predictable, right now it feels like I randomly move until I figure it out.
It got a high score of 150+ spamming W for 1-2 minutes, not sure if theres' more... I like the stick figure animations and music though, they're great!
Great game! I love the graphics. There's a slight issue when playing in windowed mode, some of the text on the later levels get cut off. Also, would be great to have a Linux/MacOS build. Other than that, good job!
@nam-nguyen By the screen border. I selected Windowed when I started the application, which defaults to 1600x900 resolution.
I had to play the WebGL version cause there's no Linux build, and as other commenter's have mentioned, the WebGL build is not ideal. I didn't manage to finish, but from what I saw, the graphics look beautiful and the music fits the mood very well! It was difficult to control at first, but I got better over time.
@antti-haavikko Thank you for taking the time to give us a detailed review, we really appreciate the effort! We're well aware of some of the issues that you've mentioned, and will take your feedback into account in our post game review. Thanks!
Hey @thomas-olsson! We spoke during Gamestart Asia, and I really enjoyed our chat! I found the time to finish your game, and I think its amazing. Aesthetically, the pixel art, SFX, and BGM are all on point. Here are some comments and thoughts:
- My initial impression was one of minor frustration because I tried to "save" every single pickup in the level. I used pickups very conservatively to prevent breakage, only picking them up to ferry them back to the truck. Fetching materials back and forth was slightly tedious. Also, I couldn't punch when I was holding an item, I could only drop it or item attack, causing additional durability damage. For example, when I was carrying nails and had to destroy crates, I could only "E", causing the nails to fly away and take durability damage, break the crates normally, then run back and pickup the nails. This caused me to play in a way that was perhaps unintended, using normal punches to clean out as much of the level as possible before ferrying items once there was a clear path back to the truck. However, this changed once I found all the required items (besides the special ones). I used all the consumables liberally and had more fun playing
- Would've loved some backstory behind the baddies. Who were the monkeys, why were they left on the island and why are they attacking the old timer?:monkey_face:
- Font was slightly hard to read at times
- Some maps were safe to drop below, some weren't, and I mainly tested through trial and error
- I only found out during my second playthrough that nail traps could be destroyed by the pole or propane. First time I just ran through them
- It's possible to get locked out of Hosoya(and the rest of the game) if you don't save at least one propane tank
Overall, the game plays well and I had fun playing. Great entry!
I beat the game. Very polished! The animation, art, and controls were amazing. I loved the expressiveness in the way it moved and it's eyes, especially when it fell at the end. The quips from the blocks were a nice touch. I also liked the explicit camera control to reveal more information about the surroundings, and during the ending sequence.
I do have some nitpicks. The puzzle which stumped me the most was the very first one in the opening, and I spent way too long trying to figure out where to go. After the first one, I didn't have trouble with the rest. Also, there was some bugs, such as randomly dying when walking into blocks. Also, if I'm in the middle of eating a blue apple, and I pickup a purple apple as I'm still eating the blue apple, then I turn purple and I've picked up a purple apple (I should turn blue).
Otherwise, great game!
Thanks everyone for the comments!
@majadroid Unfortunately there is no solution for overcoming the loop :(
thanks for the feeback! there is an upgrade system, you can become bigger and stronger!
ok, should be fixed. Please try again. :)
really good game, good idea to combine tower defence and snake. harder than it looks! quite punishing when build up a long train of cows then accidentally walk into yourself.
good idea and concept. a bin will be nice. sometimes the burger building doesnt work, just have to redo the whole thing. overall it is enjoyable and the multi-tasking part was perfect.
Good idea, however it is too complex. could be simplified to allow users to learn.
really funny and well executed, interesting idea to merge 2 genre together.
really fun typing game. realised i cant type well, have been using autocorrect for too long. good effort for the tutorials
good idea to mix the 2 genre together, works well. perhaps could reduce the hitbox a little as it is too easy to hit spikes. quite a contrast in the graphic style, maybe is intentional?
good concept, graphic and music! too bad its too difficult, max i reached was 37 but usually i cant get past 34. nice and cute.
nice game though a little short, but is expected with so little time.. with some polish it could be a game! the TD aspect wasnt as fleshed out, it seems more of a run and gun.
overall good effort, really enjoyed it.
