LD38 — A Small World

A Bloody Small World by blinry 2017-05-01T14:23:26Z

Cool game, i love how you guys did the movement. The somewhat automatic steering helper makes the game feel great. In audio and visual department you are doing great as well the soundtrack gives off some good vibes that fit well together with the art. The small issue i have with the game is that maybe the distance between the objectives is a bit to far. But overall good job!

Routine by Breno_M 2017-05-01T13:36:51Z

You really nailed the look of the game, it looks beautiful.

Grall Axy by LooksLikeSomething 2017-05-01T19:19:36Z

Simple game but it works. The time mechanic and small world mechanic are well implemented. For improvement, i annoyed myself way to much by jumping way to high but not being able to drop quickly. Maybe there could be something to fix that issue. Outside that i think you guys did a good job

SittingDucks by Iak 2017-05-01T12:10:47Z

Nice pixel art, the game was fun as well although when the black hand arrives it gets way to hard!

A Perfectly Lovely Expedition by cerno-b 2017-05-01T12:48:00Z

I'm impressed. A ton of depth for a Ludum Dare game. Crafting, day night system and digging all work perfectly! The art is done very well too. Overall i think this game takes the cake of all the games i've played until now. The only critique i can give would be audio, it's a bit too generic for me but this is only nitpicking!

Moon Dozer by sararyCow 2017-05-01T19:25:21Z

Very fun game, really enjoying myself destroying the world! An original take on the concept of destroying stuff, i see the potential in it. I do think the physics sometimes feel a bit off and there can be some improvements made in that area. The music does fit the game really well and helps add to the fun feeling of the game. Overall a good entry

Bumble Jumble by bram_ve 2017-05-01T13:06:22Z

@technonugget Thanks for the feedback, anyhow the shooting is only useful in challenge mode. You can achieve faster times by shooting the power ups over picking them up, it was intended as obscure feature that players should figure out on their own if they want to beat their own high scores. But maybe it was a little to obscure!

Bumble Jumble by bram_ve 2017-05-01T14:29:41Z

@lugdumdare-team With the color scheme and lighting we went for an as magical feel as possible, which is amplified by the sound. We originally set out with a bee concept in mind, but the concept changed so much that we could have chosen a better player model and home point. So ye the colors weren't intended as bee vision but just to achieve a magical feel!

Bumble Jumble by bram_ve 2017-05-01T18:45:18Z

@devastus So how to camera works is as long as you're moving the camera will always line up with the bee. However when standing still it allows for looking around, it seems the problem lies in that feature and i can see situations where there might be an annoyance indeed. The ascend and descend fixed step i'm not sure what you are talking about in that situation? Ascend and descend speed is based on how far the analog buttons are pressed, apart from that it should give a smooth speed.

Anyway thanks for the feedback, getting the controls right without external feedback is hard it seems :)

Hopper by TechnoNugget 2017-05-01T11:47:29Z

Fun game, the art style while simple it works great for this game in my opinion. Also jumping and shooting feels great. Overall good job on this one!

Small Obstacles by digitaldude555 2017-05-01T12:36:03Z

Fun game, i would like to see some more levels that make more use of the puzzles you already have in place. But overall fun game and potential to expand is there as well :)

Little Eco Planet by Wheerd 2017-05-01T18:58:22Z

The first game i've seen with a proper tutorial! I like the puzzles and i like them even more because i'm properly introduced to them. Like others said the sheer amount of puzzles is also really great. I would like to see this game with polished visuals and audio, i think its a cool concept!

The Little World by JayTord 2017-05-01T12:18:44Z

A unique take on the theme, it works well. The only thing i didn't really enjoy is that there is very little visual feedback for doing things. Instead of text feedback maybe adjust the volcano's visuals based on cleanliness that would be much better! Overall fun concept just visually lacking.

Fishy Fish by B4zsB4zs 2017-05-01T11:40:31Z

Nice work man, trying to jump higher and higher was definitely fun. The only thing that annoyed me was how the physics were handled when bumping into things if that was handled better it would be great! Anyway would you like to give some feedback on my game "Bumble Jumble", thanks :)

Spermicorn by Fanu 2017-05-01T13:46:25Z

Awesome game man, loved the cutscenes, the audio and the ending! The game gave me a good laugh and has a fun art style. The only thing i didn't like as much was swimming. The audio fit perfectly as well. Overall great job!

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-05-01T12:54:14Z

The game looks great and plays decently well. The main problem i had is when rotating to much the camera movement gets pretty bad. The movement itself feels fast and smooth and shooting is fine too. The audio while good can get slightly annoying when to much enemies are there, some pitch and volume variation might be a welcome addition there. But outside those small issues i think you did a great job!

Arrows in Orbit by Stoemason 2017-05-01T13:17:56Z

Cool concept, i feel like some slight improvements like maybe crosshair and a little improved camera could take it to the next level. But outside that i think the movement feels great and once getting used to aiming it works pretty good too. The audio fits the game so thats good as well. Overall a fun little game.

Orbitunes by ColeSlaughter 2017-05-01T11:32:06Z

Fun game, definitely didn't expect myself to play this long but it is kinda addicting!

Hexoworld 9999 by Lugdumdare Team 2017-05-01T14:37:16Z

The start was slightly annoying and slow but after some land pieces were destroyed and picking up some power ups the game got really fun. Additionally the audio and look of the game fit decently well so overall i enjoyed the addicting gameplay and the fitting audio and visuals :)

Fatal System Error by David Bocek 2017-04-25T13:06:09Z

Definitely the most fun ld38 game i've played until now! :)

LD39 — Running out of Power

SPACEJAMMED by Ava Skoog 2017-08-04T12:08:30Z

A tough puzzle game with a nice ambient feel to it. I do feel like the controls and movement could've been more responsive and fast to make playing the game less annoying over time.

The Phototroph by foolmoron 2017-08-02T23:56:18Z

Interesting idea, with fine graphics and audio to go with it. As for improvements i feel like the jumping between planets could use some work and maybe also having a clear goal in the game would be nice.

Drawing with Light by boundtotheearth 2017-08-01T14:28:16Z

Hmm, i think you would've done great with more time but for now the game isn't achieving what it aims to do. The physics are glitchy the movement feels floaty and as said in the other gun right now the light markers aren't very useful.

Keep 'Em Alive! by mrerdalural 2017-08-02T12:06:44Z

Nice game, i just would've liked if i could aim with the mouse instead of arrow keys! :)

Power Surge by Tomahawk2001913 2017-08-01T18:38:45Z

A game that delivers simple fun. I liked the fly mechanic in combination with the shooting and the boxes were a fun idea as well. It just only good for a very short time since there is a lack of content (which is ofcourse understandable for a jam!)

Static Man by tifu 2017-08-02T11:57:00Z

The game has a slender type of feel too it which worked out well. I just think the game is too hard since there is no way (that i know of) to at least temporarily disable the ghost to do something. Currently it feels like just running is the only option.

BATTERYMAN RECHARGES THE WORLD! by XAVIER_INDIE_GAMEDEV 2017-08-04T01:18:15Z

Thank you for all your kind words and feedback everyone, we really appreciate it! :)

Last Wish by leesoar07 2017-08-02T12:19:17Z

The mood was amazing, combining the simple sad piano track with the depressing aesthetic of the art and sad story. All those things worked very well together. The game is only a little short, we want more! :)

Space Coliseum by isubka 2017-08-02T12:36:27Z

Nice graphics. I just didn't find the gameplay very appealing, it felt static and i felt like i couldn't really melee the enemies before taking damage, and maybe the ranged attack power usage was to punishing as well. I think the game could use a bigger arena to manouver in, improved melee range and maybe a ranged attack with less cost to make everything feel more dynamic and fun.

The Truth by Jolix 2017-08-02T12:23:16Z

Haha nice parody! The ludum dare servers could definitely use some more of those guinea pigs!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

ALL Your Cats by pcmaster 2017-12-05T20:54:54Z

I liked it a lot! You've implemented a smooth difficulty curve, i had no problem picking it up and did get very challenging in the end. Good job, also nice cleaning animation!

Rancharoo by bram_ve 2017-12-05T20:34:23Z

@kegnarok They are waiting for you later down the line, we thought it would be good to first let the player get a feel of how to control the ai, and then give them loads of animals to herd.

Tho indeed we might have better added that earlier in the level since having a lot of animals in your herd makes the game shine :)

Rancharoo by bram_ve 2017-12-05T20:48:05Z

I uploaded a balance patch in which more creatures come earlier and increased the speed of the creatures in the later stages of the game. It should fix the boring start and no challenge in the end game :)

Hebe the ScOre Hunter by jamioflan 2017-12-05T21:56:10Z

Nice game with a chill sound track. It does most definitely have some potential, with some more gameplay balancing it will be even greater! good job

Farmland Invasion by CoderK 2017-12-05T20:25:31Z

Was just happely enjoying the farmlife, and then i noticed i was getting fatter, like whaat.

Anyway i think that is a really nice twist, at first i thought it was kinda generic but when i noticed the influence of food i thought that gave it nice variety :)

Tony Hawk's Hatchback Stunt Simulator: Ghost Protocol by Eli Delventhal 2017-12-05T20:29:29Z

I was severely disappointing by the marketing of this game, advertising it as the worst game, yet it isn't. What a scam! I even had to rate this game a 5 overall, gotta despise these developers more then EA!

Re:Tileation by Akusan 2017-12-05T22:23:24Z

This is one of those simple 2d platformer games that somehow wants to make you play more. The reason being ofcourse that the mechanic you've picked is pretty original and i see a lot of things you could do with it. Also the movement feels quick and responsive, which is something a lot of LD games do not get right. But you do well done.

Overall a great entry! :)

CATSPLOSION by cfehunter 2017-12-05T20:18:31Z

I did like the art and sound a lot. The gameplay left a lot to be desired to me, but that is probably because i played with keyboard, aiming with 4d keys is impossibly hard.

As for improvements i would say add that mouse support man! Also i think the lighting could be easily improved to make your art pop even more :)

Zbluch! by Mowztouch 2017-12-05T22:12:21Z

The animations looked very funny, definitely a nice game for your first jam. Anyway i do think the gameplay could use some more clarity in what to do and how to play somewhat more optimally.

SHOPPOTRON by basecase 2017-12-05T21:58:39Z

Very well made, especially taking in consideration that this was your first unity game!

LD42 — Running out of space

Wackages by bram_ve 2018-08-15T06:57:09Z

@danielclarc I'm glad you enjoyed it! By the way you've got a higher score then i ever did, i only got to a mere 41 :D

Bloody Hooligans by Natwomb 2018-08-18T10:26:15Z

I feel like the theme of the game jam actually dragged down this concept more then it did good. The core driving mechanic is really fun to use in combination with the flame thrower. But the less space you have to drive around the less fun the game becomes.

With a bigger map and a dynamic camera not only you could pump up the feeling of speed in the game, but also allow for more strategic drifting and a more fun difficulty curve.

Overall i do think it is a very cool game and without the limitation of the LD theme you could really do something with it!

Mindlapse by Vulture_42 2018-08-18T11:06:30Z

While simple the gameplay worked very well, the game just needed a goal or purpose. Now i just quit because it seemed to be going on forever and didn't get any more difficult.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Fluff Piece by PUR3 2018-04-24T07:53:01Z

No wonder the character is chased by deadly robots, the main character is an ass that shoots people in the face when meeting them :o. Anyway for the time you had a great accomplishment. Although if you had more time you could focus on making the game feel less stacking, with maybe more versitile movement.

Highway Trouble by Code Dream 2018-04-24T08:00:04Z

Very accurate highway simulator. Anyhow as for feedback, being fully taken out of the game for the quicktime event minigame felt a little off. Maybe you coud've slowed down the game somewhat and then do the QTE's at the same time as driving (Would also fit a text and drive narrative :D).

Outside that the controls are responsive, the graphics simple but clean and a chill soundtrack so still a good entry! :)
